TextNow is a free texting app like WhatsApp https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow&hl=en_US It's not a fake-message creator, I don't know why people keep assuming that
She cropped it to remove the number when it was brought up that this might not be his current number and a complete stranger could be getting a bunch of texts or calls
They are slandering someone to feel better about watching a taped fake show while hundreds of women are currently sharing sexual assault stories they've encountered from people who act just like him and just like them
People are saying you cant make fake texts on that app... response?
Quote from above.

I honestly prefer Discord over traditional texting, but asking a woman if they have a Discord usually ends with me having to explain what it is.
It's a sign of the times, I suppose. I know many people don't want to give out their phone number for privacy reasons; if that's the case, I'll usually suggest Apps like this so that texting can be done with less risk of privacy being breached.
The best way I've found to save $$$ with Canadian telecom is getting a tablet plan (data only) and using a free service like textnow for your calls and texts (which only uses data). Rogers has a bring your own table plan that gives you up to 5gb for $40/month.
http://www.rogers.com/consumer/wireless/tablet-plans
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow&hl=en
If you rarely call, why not just get a data-only plan and use TextNow to get a free local phone number? You can call, SMS and MMS for free with it.
I am aware you're asking for a service providing European numbers but just in case a US number would work for you (or other people looking for this) as well, you might want to try TextNow.
I don't know if this fits your use case but you can get a number from TextNow for free and you can call and text free too. It's only over the internet in Canada though (in the US you can get sim cards from them) so that's wifi and data. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
i did this last year.
pretty easy.
afaik you must create the account through the browser, because that way they cant use the app to use your phone's camera for the face scan. using tge browser to sign up lets you just upload a photo
i went onto yandex and found a random photo of a man, and used that for the face upload
i used textnow app for 2FA because it was the only app out of the roughly 3 dozen i tried that was free, didnt need a credit card to sign up and actually worked. app is on play/aurora store or apple app store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow&gl=us
deleted the 2fa number off of facebook afterwards
There's an idea! Thank you so much for the response!
Hey, u/Kierne - if you don't want to (or can't) use GV, there are plenty of free VoIP services on the Play Store and they'll work over any data connection you have (i.e. can be either WiFi or cell data). I've personally used TextNow before, although I'm not fond of some changes they've made in the past. It's been a good while though, so things may have improved.
Hey man, if you have access to wifi and don't really need your phone anywhere where there isn't internet access, you can look into getting a free number from TextNow which is a VOIP app that you can download. Here is the link for it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
I have used it in the past where I had to pick and choose my bills and having that app really helped. It meant I could have extra $45 in my pocket every month.
I have a solution for you. Download Text Now from the Play store. Install it and choose a free phone number. Use that to do your call back, it works over wifi. You will get the call. The digital assitant can call any number in North America as long as it's not toll tree.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
TextNow gives you the function of a phone. It can make/receive calls and texts. It's free if you remember to use it every couple days, otherwise you lose your number. Of course, you can pay to keep your number.
Try text now app! You can set up a number and at least be able to make calls and text while on wifi. It's totally free. Sorry I don't have much other info on shelters, but hope this helps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
Not a perfect solution. But does your cricket phone have working data right now? If so download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow and get a free number. You can call/text for free over data with the app. Won't be your normal number, but at least should be functional way to call/receive calls for the time being.
Does your pixel work on sprint? Or do you have a sprint phone? If yes than Text Now offers free unlimited calls and text on sprints network without needing wifi. Just download the app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
Text now https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
2nd Line https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.tn2ndLine
These are the two apps I use for the exact purpose that you are looking for. Hope it works out for you.
textnow app on android works for a burner phone number. just fill in bogus info. it won't make you log in after you you register a number, so you don't have to remember the email/password you type. you don't need to grant the app any permissions. if you want to do multiple tickets, log out and then re-sign up with a different number.
/u/iwishiwaswise Vote for this issue (on JIRA)! I did some more digging on echo cancellation in Android. Try the 062317 nightly with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
Let us know if it works for you! Not a great solution but better than running old Lollipop.
Edit: The app linked above uses a different audio engine in order to cancel echos.
Right now I've tried textnow and talkatone both seem like they do both. Both of them have a couple catches as well. But they might do the trick likely would go with the premium versions which are not very expensive but it eliminates some of those catches for both.
If anyone else has other suggestions I'm all eyeballs. On the same hand if someone is looking for an app that lets your tablet basically serve as a phone check out those two apps.
Dunno what device you use, but TextNow provides a free virtual phone number with texting that works over WiFi.
There's an app called TextNow (Playstore link). It lets you make calls to US & Canada #s free of charge.
TextNow mobile app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
I used this : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
It worked.
If you can narrow down who it might be you could do this:
Is the area code the same as where you live? Check if the area code is real. If it's not then they're probably using a fake number from an app.
So who would want to harass you? Either a friend or an ex or someone angry you rejected them. Assume you aren't the only one they're texting.
Use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
Look up the area code options and see if you can get one for a surrounding city or state or province to where you live. Some place close ish.
Text the number that texted you. If you haven't responded to the harassing text you want to give them a re do by pretending you never read it. You gotta try to work backwards with what you suspect. If you think it's an ex or a friend neither will be able to resist catfishing you by pretending to be a new interest of yours. If it's a random harassment they'll say no
Say something like this:
"Hey! It's [insert your name]. Adam right? Im so sorry I'm only replying now. Of course I managed to wreck my screen literally the next morning. I'm stuck using a work phone for now. Could you resend your last message I couldn't read it."
(Send)
"Lol I hope this is the right number. You can text me here for now! It was so nice meeting you btw, let's do it again :)"
If they pretend to be Adam then you can basically try to weasel info out of them that only your suspected person would know by chatting with them. They'll also send any other harassing texts to this new number of yours thinking your phone is broken.
If you did respond to the text already, you want to pretend to be someone you both know even peripherally from your suspects life that they wouls desire to impress.
"Hey [person you suspect]! it's [person they desire/want to impress]. I hope this isnt weird I got your number from your gmail.
(doesn't have to make sense, they'll think something synced when they download the number spoofing app)
Of course I managed to smash my screen and didnt back anything up. Could you please please do me a huge favour? I really need [piece of information only you would know like a phone number or a work or school detail, website or anything specific to you. Something that implies urgency.] but can't find [your name]'s number. Could you msg her for me? I'm stuck paying per text and i have no more data on this work phone"
If you receive a text to your real number asking for this piece of info you'll know who it is. Find another app where you can make another number.
Answer their question and then tell them "could you give [person they desire] this new number to reach me at actually? [Insert second fake number] I'm leaving on Tuesday anyways and I've got a new Sim for the long distance charges"
That's my best attempt at setting a frame for you to find out info. If nothing else they'll direct any other harassment to what they think is now your new number :)
TextNow works with wifi and sim card.
If you feel that you need to change your phone number you could get a new one through the textnow.com app. You can also find it on the Google Play Store. It provides unlimited voice and texting with a very limited amount of data. The Google Play store TextNow site is at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow.

Textnow can provide a free U.S. based phone number through the phone app TextNow. Textnow is a advertisement supported app. An account can also be established through its website at www.textnow.com. All U.S. and Canadian numbers can be called for free. Based on the country, you can call free to many nations, including Germany, the U.K., France, and others. Rates per minute can be found at https://www.textnow.com/international-calling. “Credits” can be earned by watching short advertisements through the phone app worth equivalent to one American cent. Those credits can be turned into minutes to call anywhere in the world. You can turn the volume off on your phone and not listen to them to just earn the credits without noise. Check if your phone model is compatible at https://www.textnow.com/wireless/device-checker.
If your phone is not compatible, you can use the phone app via a Wi-Fi connection. You can use free and trusted VPN services to try and route your signal from your Wi-Fi connection to a U.S.-based server. Then, use the TextNow number to call anywhere in the world. Free wifi listings are at https://www.wifimap.io/countries/138-morocco-free-wifi. Please be careful about free wifi and make sure it is encrypted or using the VPN before you use it. An online job teaching English from home to Chinese students may be an option as a supplemental source of income - Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUOeG4sZo08. You may consider working for the hospitality sector in a hotel or if available, the mountains in Morocco have ski resorts. Maybe one of those places can have a job. You can also do someone English language teaching as you are speaking to an Internet audience in English. You may also be able to go to Brazil or Peru as a fluent non-native English speaker to teach English.
You may consider typing online job for transcription work from audio files. You may need to have a Paypal account as many companies may use this when hiring internationally. If you need to have a quicker speed or have fewer errors typing, then you can get typing practice on some websites for free. U.S.-based website at https://www.typingclub.com/ and typingtest.com.

To find temporary shelter you may find Morocco hostel listings at https://www.hostelworld.com/ if you need to immediately leave your current location.
I have heard from Brazilians and their personal stories of hardship. I reply to people on an international basis and try to tailor my statements to the unique situation that each Reddit post. Some services outside and inside of Brazil may help you in the telecommunications area and listings of wifi that may be near you. Please consult my post history to other people as there may be a resource that is applicable to your situation.
If you can afford, please consider getting a solar power bank. Solar energy banks from Amazon.com's Brazil page at https://www.amazon.com.br/s?k=banco+de+energia+solar. It is a way to keep your cell phone charge no matter where you are.
Many wifi connections listed internationally, including Brazil: https://www.wifimap.io/countries/32-brazil-free-wifi
Get a free U.S.-based phone number capable of calling internationally to many nations. Use the TextNow phone app at https://www.textnow.com/. Textnow hasphone apps available to Android and Apple phones. Android is common in Brazil and is found at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow. You can watch advertisements in the phone app to earn "credits" that are worth one American cent. Click on the button that states "Earn credits". This can be directly accessed through the phone app. Watch an advertisement, get one cent of phone talk time, and then call almost any number in the world. Last I checked a call from the U.S-based number using a wifi connection costs, I quote, "0.0 cents". It is free to call Brazil from the U.S. for unlimited talk time. You can check the call rate from the U.S. to any nation at https://www.textnow.com/international-calling or in the app by clicking on the phone pad icon.
If you can connect a phone call or text message via wifi that is great, but if you experience trouble you can use a reputable free VPN service to route your wifi signal to a U.S. server. Two options are Proton VPN (service from Switzerland) and a phone app called Psiphon. Both have phone apps at the Google Play Store

Telecommunications and Email
You can sign up for a phone number hosted in the U.S. for free through TextNow at textnow.com. You can sign up for an account on textnow.com or the Android phone app at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow . You can use an anonymous email through mail.google.com. You can make an account through the textnow.com website first to secure a number or you can choose your own area code using the phone app from the Google Play Store.
Make sure the number is formatted like this (123) 456-7890. Try to assign the are code to be associated with a large metropolitan area so it looks like you are just another person in a large crowd. Large cities like New York, Miami, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, or San Diego are good suggestions. Those correlating area codes are 217, 224, 312, 630, 464, 773. 815, 847. 872 for Chicago ;New York is 212, 332. 347, 646, 718, 914, 917, 929; Houston is 281, 346, 713, 832; Miami is 305, 786, 954; Seattle is 206 253 360 425; and finally San Diego is 619, 760, 858. Once a number is assigned you can earn “credits” by watching short advertisements and get the equivalent of one American cent per ad via the phone app. These credits can be exchanged in for calling phone numbers anywhere in the world. Some places are more expensive to call, like island nations, and other are very cheap, such as a call from the U.S. number to Germany or the U.K. For Eastern Europe nations rates are at https://www.textnow.com/international-calling.
The best way to use this to use the website through a computer to make a call or send a text message. Also, if you can connect to a public wifi such as a public library, at a restaurant, outside a hotel, or free municipality wifi. If you find yourself hitting a wall and not able to access a U.S. server you can use vpnproton.com for free to access a U.S. server from your phone or use the app called Psiphon Pro at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.psiphon3.subscription.
Housing and Food Ideas
Another idea is to rent a bed in a hostel in the country you are staying. Listings might be found at https://www.hostelworld.com/ or https://www.hostelsclub.com/en/?currency=EUR. You might be able to volunteer as a person at a front check-in desk or clean-up crew at the hostel in exchange for renting the bed. It is best to contact individual hostels to see what they are willing to do about that.
Another idea if rent or shelter is a problem is to be a volunteer at an organic produce farm or at a cultural exchange host site and be granted some food and shelter by a host. Just know this is not paid work. The principle of the following is non-paid work, but you can ask host sites if persons other than themselves offer jobs in a local area. A few organizations of websites that help pair up cultural exchange hosts or farms with volunteers are found at www.wwoof.net, www.helpx.net, and https://www.workaway.info/.
The wwoof.net site is called WWOOF for Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms. Reddit has a subreddit at https://www.reddit.com/r/WWOOF/. The organization that facilitates listings of farms and volunteers using the platform to contact farms is at https://wwoof.net/ . Each country hosts its own WWOOF. There are pro and cons to this. Some small family farms will treat you very well and you can state you wish to know about organic farming and the host’s culture and/or language of you host country. In this case this might work for the current place you are staying for asylum. Larger operations may just use your labor to harvest crops for 4-5 hours a day as a cheap way to get labor rather than paying for actual field workers. If you are required to volunteer more than the agreed on hours than that can be a signal to leave. Be courteous, but establish healthy boundaries with hosts. You can try and avoid those places.
You could find a nice place, like an animal sanctuary farm, for injured wildlife. A stay at any given location seems to last on average a few weeks to few months. Try to be kind to a host farms or cultural host and give a little notification, about 72 hours, if possible. If the host is terrible, have an escape plan to leave by car, bus, or walking and just walk out of there. You are a volunteer, not paid personnel. Your time and life are your own.
A side note is that offseason wwoofing may mean things like dairy farms are open as those operations take place all year long. An important note is that membership through wwoof.ne is not free, but it is cheap. If you are tight on money you can apply for a wwoof scholarship and see if a particular country’s WWOOF organizations has one. Some places have scholarships and others do not.
This posting has really good comments and replies about good experiences when someone asked if good experiences were experienced through WWOOF at https://www.reddit.com/r/WWOOF/comments/rdp4ze/youre\_gonna\_have\_a\_bad\_time/ . This is is a bad experience by someone that stayed in Japan: https://www.reddit.com/r/WWOOF/comments/3f9d7x/my\_mostly\_bad\_experiences\_wwoofing\_in\_japan/. The WWOOF is just a suggestion so you know you have a second choice when it comes to having an idea where you can go for some food and shelter.
One thing I can not emphasize enough is to clean up, brush your teeth, comb your hair, and clean your clothes as much as possible. Whether you like it or not, people psychologically find it easier to help someone that shows efforts in keeping up hygiene. You may be depressed on a particular day and not care what you look like, but your survival may well depend on how you look. People can be fickle that way and it is not fair, but it is a reality far to often. Do whatever you can to not look shabby. Use a public bathroom to wash one article of clothing and brush teeth and wash your face. Wash your hair with hand soap found in the bathroom if you have to.

Couldn't you just sign up for a Canadian number on the data using TextNow app?
TryTextNow
I've read that TextNow works for this. It's free, so worth a shot. Access the number via data or WiFi from most anywhere.
I think TextNow lets you change the number quite a few times. I remember changing it once. Give it a try.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow
For anyone with a similar problem and looking for the solution - after a lot of research, I've discovered that you don't even need a Japanese number necessarily for these services (at least you don't for JapanTaxi), so you only need a virtual number that can receive texts (and preferably calls over the internet, in case your cab driver needs to call you). I've discovered that the app TextNow does the job perfectly. It gives you a US virtual number that can receive texts and calls, and has worked like a charm for me!
