Use YouMail https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.youmail.android.vvm
I use it to block spam calls. You can set it to give the blocked calls the "This number is disconnected" message. That helps get you off of the spam lists. I use the free version. They offer paid options but the free one works good.
Id say ATT and Verizon networks are pretty on par. Ive been to places where ATT has no service but Verizon does, and Ive also been to places where Verizon has no service but ATT does (I live in Southern California).
Now, that being said, you could be in one of those areas where Verizon works well but ATT doesnt. Wont know without testing it out.
I would recommend signing up for a $30 2GB plan (when you use up 2GB you just get slowed down, you still can use it). 2GB should be plenty for testing.
Pop out your Verizon sim, and pop in Cricket sim. Use it for the month as you would normally use your phone, if you are satisfied move over all lines. If not then all it takes is for you to pop the old Verizon sim back in and you are back to how it was before you did anything.
Currently you can get Cricket sim from Amazon for $5, or BestBuy for $10.
yes this would cost you $35-$40 for the month. But if its a success then you will be saving a lot more than that per month.
PS - I dont know anything about Red Pocket Mobile, but I would test it out with actual Cricket since that is what you are considering changing over to.
Also if you do sign up, visit stickied thread and use one of the promo links, it will give you $25 after 60 days and the person who's link you used $25 as well. That will cancel out the cost of sim cards for you ($5 a piece from Amazon).

Adblocking VPNs aren't really VPNs. What they're basically doing is just intercepting DNS requests to do the blocking and then passing the rest of the traffic on as normal.
A real VPN would completely obscure the type of traffic and thus get around the SD video throttle. I know a couple popular and respected VPNs are PIA and NordVPN. Don't go with some free one either -- they're selling all your data.
Yes, you can use the SIM cards from Cricket branded phones that you get from the Cricket store (both online and in store) to put them in your own phones. Another option is buying a SIM card from Amazon for $2.99.
https://www.amazon.com/Cricket-Wireless-SIM-Card-Kit/dp/B0136NJTLS
wow, so recently I switched to iPhone. BIG CR player myself. And.... I have a present for you. Grab yourself a free VPN client like ProtonVPN. I have no idea WHY this works. But playing CR on VPN when I'm on a wireless signal is the only way it'll work.
Have you already tried an Android call history app, that gives specifics, to see if it offers more info, like:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pa.calllog.tracker
or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teral_soft.calllog
Cricket and ATT are both weird. I had to use an app to force 5G on my phone, since they disabled the network mode settings in the mobile network settings of their OS, the way I got around it was using an app called Samsung Band Selection. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection) which when you open it allows you to open that hidden menu. When you open it go to, more network options, Aio, then towards the bottom, preferred network type, 5G. And boom that's it
Edit: I have an S20 Ultra factory unlocked
Here's a link to the sim on Amazon. Make sure when you order you're ordering from Amazon themselves not a 3rd party seller. I just activated one of these a few days ago and it worked fine.
A couple apps that might be useful are these (Big Launcher and Big Phone): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.kunes.android.launcher.demo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.kunes.android.launcher.bigphone
Though I installed them and checked and even they don't have the auto area code option. You're not crazy though. Googling around I can find clear instructions on how to turn on auto area code for older versions of android. On my S10 and S8 though, those options are not there. It probably just wasn't a popularly used option and they dropped it.
I doubt that your IP address is the real issue but you could always use a VPN like Private Internet Access, NordVPN or like million others. You'd still have the same IP but Comcast would see a different IP.
Try using the FCC speed test app (by SamKnows, a UK company), it's much better, and actually uses proper methodology to perform its tests, unlike the broken-by-design Speedtest.net.

It's on APKMirror if you trust them more.
Edit: From the APKMirror FAQ: >Security: What measures do you take to make sure all uploaded APKs are real and created by the respective developers?
> 1. All APKMirror.com uploads are verified prior to publishing. 2. We make sure that the cryptographic signatures for new versions of all previously published apps match the original ones, which means we know if uploaded APKs were signed by the real devs or someone pretending to be them. Note: APKMirror.com has been protected from the Janus vulnerability in Android from day one. 3. a. For new apps that have never been uploaded to APKMirror.com, we try to match the signatures to other existing apps by the same developer. If there’s a match, it means that the same key was used to sign a previously known legitimate app, therefore validating the new upload. b. If we see no matches, we try to obtain and compare to a version of the same app from the Play Store or another verified location. If it’s a beta, we will try to get into it. If we can’t, we will attempt to contact the developer.
> c. If we’re unable to verify the legitimacy of a new APK, we will simply not publish it.
I'd venture to guess those phones don't have the proper HSPA bands for AT&T or Cricket (850MHz and 1900MHz, IIRC). When you make a call on a non-VoLTE phone, it drops to HSPA (aka faux-4G), and I'm guessing those don't have the capability to connect to the tower.
Looking here, a few models don't have those bands for 3G bands: https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_honor_7x-8880.php
Awesome thanks. Slickdeals posted a great Best buy deal: https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/304304
You can get the $70 card as well just search for it. It isn't posted in the Slickdeals link but it's in Best buy's website.
I'd suggest giving OpenSignal a try on your phone. It has crowd sourced data for signal strength for various cell phone providers. You can then check the map in your area by cell carrier and get a good idea what you're getting into even before paying for a sim to test.
Like I tell people in person, if you're thinking of switching, get a phone from all the companies you're considering, buy the cheapest plan for each, take them with you, try them out for a week. You're out the cost of the time cards & get full refunds on the phones if you bought them at walmart/target/bestbuy - that's not so bad. Also, don't buy a crappy ZTE, BLU, or any other 3rd rate brand - if you buy a crappy phone, I don't care who your provider is, your service is going to be crappy. Think of the extra $30-80 you're spending on extra service as an investment in your sanity by picking what carrier really is best for you and not having to wonder when your friends rave about a different provider than you have. This is how I realized that Verizon actually under-performed compared to Cricket, for the places I go, despite the fact that they do have a marginally better network at the national level.
Anecdotally, I've been with Cricket for 3 years now. Service has always been very good for me. And on the phone topic, I have friends who get a spotty, unreliable 0-2 bars signal on their $50 bargain-basement ZTE/Blu/cheapest-thing-samsung-ever-made in the same exact spot on Cricket that I (also on Cricket) can get a solid 3-4 bars on my Galaxy S4. In otherwords, don't cheap out on your phone. On hardware, you will get what you pay for.
Check out https://opensignal.com/ while you're at it if you want to see actual, real user-driven metrics on connection quality. Check out http://webcoveragemap.rootmetrics.com/en-US for professionally gathered data that also includes speed and call quality, but not on as granular (I.e. street coverage) level as OpenSignals signal strength data.
Also, keep in mind that everyone talking about Verizon's new plan is leaving out that there's about $10 in taxes & fees. The $55 plan is probably more like $65 for 5 gigs...still not a bad deal, but the real question is which carrier is truly the best for you?
Frustration with setup is another issue with FP.
No other payment, but you have to downgrade the service before the free trial ends.
Yes, it requires popping in the SIM into an Android or iOS phone and activate the service using the FreedomPop app.
I get 50MB for the referral, so I don't care. I posted the referral link because it's easy for me to obtain since I have my FP portal page open anyway. I only use FP as a backup service. Here is the SD thread for details. You can use the SD link to sign up for the service if you like.
Buy the 3 in 1 kit from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0725R9NH1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_RNMTQJ4YQW69QMDSPKG9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
When you get it call or chat with CS and they can switch you to the new sim card.
Aww thats sucks man, sorry about that. Luckily I dont really need the hotspot, but you'll never know when you need it. This is the phone im talking about https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089GX3SHV/ref=olp_aod_redir#aod Im guessing if yours worked , this one should too.
I think AT&T iphones should work. However, please be careful of sim size. As far as I know idol 3 uses micro-sim whereas iphones use nano-sims. So you may have a problem. The easiest solution is to buy a Cricket sim from Walmart, Target etc. and activate it on your existing line. Amazon is charging $5 for it
Then your micro-sim will quit working and the number will transfer to the nano sim. You will have to do this procedure for each line.
For which budget? For low-end phones, the iPhone 5S and Nextbit Robin are the best. iPhone available at cricketwireless.com and Robin at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D9LVCAI/
For higher-end phones, look at u/resistXtrance's post.
As a few others have said, Amazon also has them on sale: https://www.amazon.com/Cricket-Wireless-SIM-Card-Kit/dp/B0136NJTLS/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1492470551&sr=1-1&keywords=cricket+sim+card
It looks like a limit of two, and I don't know how Amazon handles international shipping for things like that.
Do what the others are saying and buy an unlocked phone. I did this for my mom who cannot get broadband in her rural town. She actually cannot even get LTE with Cricket but the 4G speeds are good enough for her. I bought her the Amazon Prime version of the Blu R1 HD (about $50) which has hotspot automatically enabled. Not a bad phone at all but she only uses it for hotspot (always on and plugged in) as she has her own iPhone through US Cellular with limited data. I put her in my Cricket group and she only pays $40/month for unlimited (slowish) internet now.
I don't recall granting it permissions. But, I removed the phone and location permissions, and disabled background data. If you are not in an area with lots of wifi networks and things like xfinitywifi, you might not have noticed a problem.
What's also pretty horrendous is that the app doesn't event mention Wi-Fi Management in the description. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it's violating some Google terms for that. Time to report it.
I believe this was added in v2.5.8, which was released Juy 20, 2018. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mizmowireless.acctmgt
You can try these if you don't want to reset:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.connectionstabilizerbooster&hl=en_US
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andqlimax.pushfixer.noroot
It's called LTE Discovery; very useful, I've been using it since a few years ago myself as well, on several different phones.
But for what it is worth, don't confuse replication with scientific validity of the overall argument. As per my [detailed response elsewhere in this thread](/r/CricketWireless/comments/8fej1y/psa_cricket_service_is_different_than_atts/dy4oows/), the premises simply do not support the conclusion, as there is a much better explanation for the observations.
doesn't require root, works fine as tether.
(for windows pcs at least, you need an app on windows side too)
(edit: also works with tablets)
Wifi tether router (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter&hl=en) has options to use vpn and change ttl. Has anyone used this app? How can we be sure it's changing the ttl?
Use a different keyboard like GBoard from Google. I've had problems with built-in keyboards on LG and Samsung too. Also make sure there aren't any system updates available.
Yeah, you can refer. Your account can be old. Your friend's account has to be new.
About the points, you can get 50k mPlus points through referrals, which is enough for a $25 Cricket refill card through this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cricketwireless.cricketrewards
Get a referral code to sign up for Cricket Rewards. You can then use your own referral code (again, do this quick, i.e., less than 30 days after activation of your friend's account) to get your friend to sign up.
LTE Band 71 is not really vital for TMo service. In fact, it's already being re-purposed for 5G, because they probably don't expect you to have a phone that supports it:
This is also probably the reason why many new phones are now being released that don't have LTE Band 71 anymore, even when the previous generations did have it, e.g., some all-carrier Moto models — Moto Z3 Play (2018) had 71, but Moto One Action (2019) doesn't have it anymore (still has the newer LTE Band 66, though, and of course LTE Band 12, too):
Samsung S20 FE. Both my wife and I have them. I got them on Amazon refurbished; just make sure you are getting SM-G781U and you are golden. My wife's was 310 but mine was more as I bought it over a year ago. I get two days out of a charge as I run my screen @ 60Hz.
Snapdragon 865, 6.5" Super AMOLED screen @ 120Hz, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage plus microSDXC card slot, 5G, 25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging
The app that came on my Cricket/Motorla phone was called messages but it wasn't actually Google Messages. If you go here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging
Does it ask you to update or download?
Maybe. This one says it is specifically for the US and compatible with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. Actually gives specific instructions on how to activate it on Verizon which is kinda cool.
Here it is on amazon.
Yep you will be good with international version here. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-G780F-Unlocked-Android/dp/B08KYH35ZR/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?crid=3VWGFFPSF65AN&keywords=samsung+20+fe&qid=1658065725&sprefix=samsung+20+fe%2Caps%2C216&sr=8-14
It is list, they are in control not us. I think you want a duel sim phone. I am thinking you don’t want esim. https://www.amazon.com/Nokia-Android-Unlocked-Smartphone-6-67-Inch/dp/B09DHSPDRQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=MYZXO9CQSYN8&keywords=nokia+fuel+sim&qid=1658064058&sprefix=nokia+fuel+sim%2Caps%2C114&sr=8-6
Don’t know if the us version of A53 5G is duel sim. If you want the international version get T-mobile and roaming sim like keepgo or Eiotclub. Download t-mobile digits if you want to make a call on the roaming sim.
This is a work around that a Cricket employee let us know today. We've had the same problem for a week! Same problems with call centers too.
For Samsung users go to the APP store 2G 3G 4G switcher Get the switcher. Install APP. Go to Advance Network Settings. Then select WCDMA ALL. And this worked for us. Hope it helps.
Try this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rk.android.app.shortcutmaker
You go through the settings and search for anything that says network or mobile and see if any of them have a toggle for the network type. My OnePlus 9's normal settings on Android 12 don't have any option for me to change network settings because it recognizes my SIM as T-Mobile but that app found hidden settings that allow me to change as I need to (the Phone Information trick does work on my phone but it's less convenient than the shortcut I made).
Sounds like we're in the same boat. I often can't even load a single webpage even though my phone displays full connection to 5g. Something must be up with Cricket's 5g service. I'd recommend downloading Samsung Band Selection and change the settings from automatic to GSM/WCDMA/LTE. This will disable 5g and you should get a connection back.
Go and download this app called Samsung Band Selection (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection) when you open the app go the second menu called More Network Settings -> Cricket -> Preferred Network Type -> LTE.
Hmmm, the various Amazon listings don't have those details (that I could see), but this site has the specs against model numbers: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note9-9163.php
It looks like the USA version has GSM and CDMA and all the AT&T/Cricket LTE bands. The Global version doesn't have CDMA and drops a few of the "extra" AT&T/Cricket LTE bands. You should still have decent service in most places, but may not have as fast speeds in some cities as the US version.
Do you have a source for your claim that Moto E4's sold by Verizon somehow operate on different LTE bands, or did you just make it up to be edgy?
Because that's rebutted by data points at SlickDeals:
This is the one we got.
Moto G7 with Alexa Hands-Free – Unlocked – 64 GB – Ceramic Black (US Warranty) – Verizon, AT&T, T–Mobile, Sprint, Boost, Cricket, & Metro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N92347B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_982RD297T9C7019G3ZM1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I just started with cricket, in my first month. I am at 31.02 GB on the $60 plan and have NOT had any speed/data caps. Just ran a speed test (with NordVPN on) and got 110mbps down and 13mbps up on iPhone 12 Pro Max. So far so good!
Slickdeals page for the Walmart one said it was 35 at family dollar but it sounds like it might have gone up to 45.
If you have a Smart TV, it's built in. If not, you could use chromecast. Or you could simply get one of those usb c (for android) or lightning (for iphone) to HDMI cables so you don't have to cast at all. It just shows whatever is on your phone screen.
If you do the cable setup, make sure to get one that has a charger cable built in so your battery doesn't die. Something like this
Download "Samsung Band Selection" from play store. Open the app go to the "more network settings" click on "cricket" move all the way down, you can force enable WiFi calling and Volte calling right there.
Bomb enjoy your WiFi calling and Volte calling.
Samsung Band Selection https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection
I bought a refurbished supposedly unlocked Galaxy S10e from this Amazon listing.
Received it today and looked up the IMEI on the Cricket website, and it said it was compatible. I don't know if that means all S10es are.
So, apparently it's compatible, BUT it didn't accept my old SIM card like it's supposed to. Bleh. Gonna try to call Cricket tomorrow.
AT&T GoPhone LG Phoenix 2 is a similar phone -- you can use AT&T phones on Cricket without unlocking.
BB had it on sale for $50 recently but currently its $100 (maybe check on Sunday to see if it comes back) -- Walmart has it for $69 right now: https://www.walmart.com/ip/AT-T-LG-Phoenix-2-K371-Prepaid-GoPhone/49660166
You can check your local BB/Walmart/Target to see which Cricket or AT&T GoPhones they have -- buy any phone as-is without service and just pop the active Cricket SIM in there
I jumped from an old 3mbps unlimited to the new core (to get the 8mbps bump). While "speedtest" shows absolute crap results (less than 1mbps sometimes) fast.com shows me between 4.5 and 6mbps most times I hit it, so I guess it might be better? I don't know what's causing the craptastic results - I'm in south Minneapolis - but I'm hoping that I haven't just hit the "de-prioritization" limits. That being said, if I'm not running tests, it feels just the same as it always has.
Netflix, Youtube, and a few other streaming services are capped on cricket. When you do the fast.com speedtest you'll see it jump up to 10-15 and then head down to that 4-5 range. I can still usually pull 720p on Youtube...720p60 is hit and miss though.
This guy must have missed the part about SD streaming and that fast.com is owned and hosted by Netflix.
You can get a OnePlus Nord N200 5G from amazon on Black Friday / Cyber Monday for $200 right now.
I think you'd be really happy with it and it should be solid for a while as it even has 5G.
Download "Samsung Band Selection" from play store. Open the app go to the "more network settings" click on "cricket" move all the way down you can force enable WiFi calling right there.
Enjoy your WiFi calling.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection
Did you buy one of the iPhone 13 + Carrier subscription offerings on Amazon? If so, it says right on the Amazon product page title that the phone is locked: "iPhone 13 + Carrier Subscription [Locked]".
You're stuck on Cricket for 6 months or return the phone back to Amazon and cancel the purchase. I'm not sure why you'd believe some idiot at Cricket over the amazon product page that clearly says it's locked.
Try on Fast.com Usually gives me more accurate speedtests than google does. Also, did you get the Core plan? If so you are capped at 3mbps. If you got the cricket more plan then I believe the cap is 8mbps. Is that the same speed you all get or just you? If its just you then double check your APN settings and ensure its updated per crickets website. I had speed issues with that. If thats not the issue then fuck if I know. Call cricket and bitch. Its what I do.
If you're on Android 9 or above I'd really recommend setting up Private DNS (Settings->Network and Internet->Advanced->Private DNS) with an ad blocking DNS server. They'll block ads including in-app ads and work on both wifi and mobile connections. So they'll get rid of these ads in Visual Voicemail.
AdGuard is good and completely free. (I'll put the instructions below.) NextDNS is also a good choice -- it's much more configurable but is only free for the first 300,000 queries. (I'd consider myself a power user and I've only used 145k in the last 30 days.)
AdGuard servers: >DNS-over-TLS
>Use these strings to set up AdGuard DNS:
>For "Default" servers:
>dns.adguard.com
>For "Family protection" servers:
>dns-family.adguard.com
The Windscribe VPN actually does play well with Netflix and Amazon Prime
You can even use a UK one to view the NetflixUK streams (good for next day US TV shows oddly enough)
If you are already using Windscribe, just select the Windflix US or Windflix UK servers when you want to use netflix and you are off to the races.
Download the app called Samsung Band Selection (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.samsungbandselection) upon opening it click on more network settings, then should be AIO, tap that then click on preferred network, change it to 5G, that's how I did it in my unlocked S20 ultra and I've been getting 5G since
amazon even sells an iphone 13 with cricket unlimited bundle
> You can not just buy a sim kit without activation.
and that's the shit that I hate, because right here I can get one on Amazon, and hell, I could have even grabbed one at Walmart if I wanted to wait for someone to open the cage. Just wanted one that would already be on my account, activated, ready to go, the easiest way possible.
>Their job (according to actual policy) is to make sure the device works on our network.
and I completely understand that, but, I was very glad the rep had the leeway required to just hand over the in envelope SIM kit and let me monkey through the rest.
Would this one work as well? Out of curiosities sake it doesn't have the -4 at the end of the model number. Does it have to be a us model? I usually get a phone when I upgrade every two years so I don't know much about cricket. I appreciate the help.
First and foremost, thanks for your reply! I have this sim card, is it the green one you are talking about?
🆕 Cricket ⭕️ Micro Sim Card ⭕️SKU: SGMN4023 🔵 for Activation/Replacement https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FWLZF2P/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_glt_fabc_ZNT0VGSRJQRTR4XTY6AF
And I am not sure how the all white sim card looks like. If you can point me to one, that would be really good. This could save me from buying a new phone haha.
In addition to reporting at https://cricket.spamresponse.com/ and forwarding to 7726 like other people mentioned, you can also make sure you're using the newest version of Google Messages
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging
and that the setting for Spam Protection is enabled.
There are also a variety of apps on the Google Play Store market that offer SMS spam filtering, although I'm not sure which of the free ones are useful. RoboKiller is probably a good paid one, although it's a little pricey.
If you want to pretend it's a different phone, the stokie app has everyone's stock wallpapers which are usually pretty minimal by default.
The cricket whitelist says only the IN2015 model is approved. Be careful, I've found a lot of other models like IN2019 and IN2013, all labeled OnePlus 8. I'd check with them before buying. If you're looking for the compatible one, amazon has the IN2015 on sale today. It's cheaper than from OnePlus.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0872473BF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
This is the cricket whitelist with the compatible models listed: https://www.cricketwireless.com/support/great-big-network/byod-compatibility.html
Here's my phone. From what I understand, the major differences are that the Power has a larger, longer lasting battery than the Stylus, the camera in the Stylus is supposedly better and it has twice the internal storage. The processors are identical.
https://www.amazon.com/Stylus-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera-Indigo/dp/B084CVPLLC
try the google messages app - it does a good job of catching spam texts. make it your default.
Also the google phone app works quite well for calls if it is available for your device
May depend on your android version
I see. I don't think you should get a different SIM.
When I was first trying to get 5G to light up on this phone, another redditor suggested I download Samsung Band Selection, which has a mode where you can try to "force" your phone onto a particular band. This did not work for me, even when I selected a 5G band I would still show LTE.
However, it seems that this app was somehow preventing me from connecting to 5G when I turned off the band selection mode. I set it back to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE". This was the setting when I switched to my white SIM, and 5G didn't light up at first. I changed the setting over to "Automatic", and suddenly 5G worked. So perhaps you could try installing that and making sure Automatic is set. But if you're not in a "nationwide 5G" coverage area right now, don't bother. You're really not missing anything compared to LTE
I have no clue. I googled it but nothing came up with a satisfactory answer.
You can get a new sim from amazon for $3 though.
I checked in the app and on the web site (in 'my account') and it's not available for me.
Probably not available for BYOD customers I assume.
I've been using HiYa to block scam calls anyway so it's no big loss, and it's likely better than Crickets version anyway.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webascender.callerid&hl=en_US&gl=US
well, it appears to be. I bought it new + unlocked at Amazon. I can check the bands though.
it's this:
Samsung Galaxy A70 (128GB, 6GB RAM) 6.7" Display, Global 4G LTE GSM Factory Unlocked A705MN/DS (International Version, No Warranty)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RYZNPWQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0WaaEbA1EE31K
Should work fine on her phone. You will have to disable the battery optimization for it in settings, otherwise it will turn off a few minutes after the screen goes off. You can try PDANet from the play store before buying it or NetBridge is similar and is free.
Just follow the directions, you will have to enter proxy settings on the connection, but they should have directions that walk you through it. PDANet offers the option to download a program to your computer, but that is optional.
I got VoLTE working on my Nokia 6.1 by generating an iPhone IMEI and having a cricket chat rep manually update it to my line. Now my Nokia 6.1 can make and receive VoLTE calls.
This is the app I used: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.edgedevstudio.imei_toolbox
>I also thought that this was the same exact phone as the Moto g7 Power but when trying to use my Supra (which was unlocked from Cricket) on Visible I was told this Supra was not compatible with their service even thought they sell the Moto G7 Power on their site.
Are you talking about this Visible service?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.visiblemobile.flagship&hl=en_US
It's very strange they say the phone isn't compatible. Considering how horribly rated their customer service is, I suspect the representative was incorrect. I suspect if Visible doesn't allow the SUPRA it may be something to do with it being branded by Cricket and perhaps a legal issue as apposed to it actually being a different phone from the Power.
Thanks again for the info!
I have the Supra. There is a special dialer menu where you can turn off 'VoLTE provisioning', but it's locked by Motorola. Normally you dial: *#*#4636#*#* to access this menu.
There are apps (see fourth screenshot) on the Play Store that can initiate this menu. With that app, go to Network Settings. On the 'Device Info' screen scroll down and hit the 'VoLTE provisioning' toggle. No idea if the setting will stick though since I never make phone calls.
Not a perfect solution. But does your cricket phone have working data right now? If so download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.TextNow and get a free number. You can call/text for free over data with the app. Won't be your normal number, but at least should be functional way to call/receive calls for the time being.
For the Moto G7, I am not of aware of any special requirements to enable VoLTE.
I forgot to mention on the Cricket Dashboard the icon still shows BYOD for phones even if its a Cricket phone. But under the Plans & Services it will show the phone info if it a Cricket phone.
Are you both on the same plan? Before the plan page was updated some of the plans specifically listed HD Voice.
For the "new" SIMs from my understanding the numbers on the 10 and 11th digit are 77 not 78 from the previous SIMs.
Have you tried the Moto E5 Cruise with the SIM to make sure VoLTE actually works on the line?
Other option would be to try like I did, generate a fake a iPhone 7,8,X IMEI and tell Cricket to update the line IMEI to it. This is the app I used: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.edgedevstudio.imei_toolbox
Nokia 5.3. 4GB of ram, 64GB of storage, stock Android with Android One. 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates. It also has a snapdragon 665. $199 on Amazon. And yes it wil work with Cricket wireless.

Keep an eye on r/androiddeals (and I'd recommend sticking with either eBay or Amazon as a vendor).
A quick search there turned up this : https://www.amazon.com/Power-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera-Black/dp/B084D89DBF
>How can you tell if it's phoning home?
This works with Android phones and doesn't require root:

Windscribe with TCP always works for me. Alternatively use the StrongSwan VPN app and add your Windscribe IKEV2 credentials.
If you want something free that's not shady, try ProtonVPN. Most free VPNs aren't to be trusted, but Proton is run by the ProtonMail company and has a paid option that subsidizes the limited free plan.
A free VPN isn't necessarily selling your data if they also offer a paid tier. For example, windscribe or protonvpn are respectable VPN services that also offer a free tier. You'll see limited options on the free tier, but it should still work for what you want (bypass the 480p video). I personally recommend protonvpn free tier for this, it's what I have set up on all of my family's devices for anything from coffee shop wifi to 480p video bypassing. Tldr: if the provider offers a paid service, it doesn't mean they're selling your data on the free tier. Although generally like the other guy said, a free only VPN shouldn't be trusted.
VPNs I've used at both the free and paid tier: Windscribe and ProtonVPN
Possible 3rd option would be VPNHub. Haven't used them, but I know it's the VPN service offered by the Pornhub company. It also has a free and paid tier.
$4.99 through Amazon right now. And you don't need the IMEI to buy the SIM, just to activate it.

I ordered these ones (From Amazon as seller) a few days ago - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0725R9NH1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Havent activated them yet, but the box is like the one pictured and says "2017" in a corner. I think these are the newest ones. The sims will fit any phone as you can punch out any size sim you need, and the sim itself is entirely white.

If this is the one you're looking at, you'll be fine.
Moto X (4th Generation) - with hands-free Amazon Alexa – 32 GB - Unlocked – Super Black - Prime Exclusive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077YNYFPD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_AaKzBb2253A44
I'm looking to buy this one
Asus Zenfone 3 MAX. Excellent battery, decent camera, good build quality. Only downside is the rounded edges on the screen glass (screen protectors don't seal completely). https://www.amazon.com/ZenFone-ZC520TL-Smartphone-5-2-inch-Glacier/dp/B01LZ8516T
If you want to port the number a previously activated SIM card, I think there's a $15 fee for changing your number: https://www.cricketwireless.com/support/account-management/charges-and-fees/customer/charges-and-fees.html
I'd suggest getting another SIM to port if you decide to move to Cricket. Amazon is selling Cricket SIM cards for $2.99.
https://www.amazon.com/Cricket-Wireless-SIM-Card-Kit/dp/B0136NJTLS/
i don't believe Amazon is selling the new Cricket SIMs (all white) yet, but they should work fine nevertheless. The new SIMs puts you onto AT&T proxy servers from the very beginning of activation as opposed to third party proxies. All the old SIMs will eventually migrate over, as many already have.
From an Amazon.com listing:
"This phone does not work with AT&T, H20 and other carriers that do not support 2G Bands."
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Gravity-TXT-Unlocked-Phone/dp/B00EW1MUII
I did this the other day. Ordered the LG X power, when it came I put the sim in my iphone and activated. Done! I never even put the sim in the LG, I'm keeping that as a backup phone.
I also have 2 bring your own device multi-size sim kits for my kids. I got those on Amazon for $5.
It's simply Because Science™. Sure, you may go an extra mile, ignore the broken geolocation detection of the "closest" server, but most folks who use ookla's speedtest.net wouldn't bother — and why should they? It's ookla's fault, as simple as that. I would imagine most folks aren't even aware that something that's called SPEEDTEST™ could possibly even have such a major deficiency — I mean, why would a "reputable" major company do such bullshit, right?!
At least speedtests on other wireless carriers provide the bandwidth spec that you're getting, but, on Cricket, you'll either be getting about 8Mbps, or you'll be congested, so, speed tests don't really show anything useful.
So, NO, it wouldn't give much baseline at all; especially not if most posts would use the default geolocation (and if we have to explain how to "fix" speedtest.net, then why not simply explain how not to use it in the first place?).
If you're too lazy to get the traceroute test results as text, you can still post screenshots (which could also include a speedtest of your choice — as long as do you provide the traceroute info that we request — and if you're looking for a good speed test, I found the "FCC Speed Test" by SamKnows (<code>com.samknows.fcc</code>) to actually detect the closest server based on your connectivity, which works great for something like Cricket, where it automatically detected me in SJC or LAX back in the day where it was about the only PGW regardless of your location, and produced correct latency results without any babysitting).
We DO care about the quality of info here. We don't care about quantity. You're welcome to participate, but it does indeed require a bit of effort.
I'm using a Verizon Note 3 at the moment, and just like you, the stock app wouldn't work with Cricket. I'd suggest using ~~Google Messenger~~ Android Messages app since I assume the Pixel XL is a Verizon-branded phone.
But you can. And its free. That's been a thing since 2009.
And theres even a highly rated app just for it, by google.. It's everything VVM is and more.
why not try out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=beavanchua.com.mobwifi
track data usage per hotspot session and you can also set data limits per hotspot session. The app will keep track of data usage and turn off your hotspot when the limit is reached.
According to this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aws.apps.networkInfoIi the network is 310 410 and according to this app its 310 150 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.android.telnet North Platte, NE just off I-80. And just for fun according to fast.com I'm getting 2.9 Mbps
