I use USB Audio Recorder PRO with a Steinberg UR22mkII. I've recorded at great quality from instruments and mics with zero issues.
My record player has a USB output. Now I use my cellphone to record vinyls to FLAC. If anyone's interested, I'm using USB Audio Recorder.
I am sure there are better options, like finding an interface that works well with Android, but I wasn't willing to shell out the money at the time to find out.
I ended up with the following:
It's not perfect, but with Google Opinion Rewards and already having an OTG cable, this solution cost me under $8. The reviews on the sound card are accurate. Sometimes there is an audio delay, but for me it has been infrequent.
I think eventually I will purchase a field recorder for recording on the go instead of using my phone. But, if you find a better solution for Android, I would be interested in hearing about it.
EDIT- I forgot to mention that with this solution it is possible to use headphones to monitor what you are recording.
Oh duh also heres the gear I used
USB Audio adapter - Griffin Technology iMic - The original USB Stereo Input and Output Audio Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003Y5D776/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HWLrBbZZTT5VS
Recording Program - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro
Note that you should have the usb audio device plugged in before opening the program. Also the default setting for it is mono. On the settings page the furthest setting to the right select stereo. The default setting of 44.1khz is the correcting setting.
it looks like it's super possible! I found this promising looking app since I don't think there's an android version of audacity though I assume that a free one must exist: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro
I just received the UCA202, the other sound card and a couple of Jack-RCA cables that I ordered and I can confirmed that everything works with my pixel.
I installed the Android App suggested and tested both devices.
The App clearly shows that the UCA202 records in Stereo, while the other sound card only in mono.
Really happy with the UCA202. I just made my first ringtone with the PO-20 :)
I'm using USB Audio Recorder PRO to record audio with the Blue Yeti on the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 9 - works fine on both devices. On their page the G3 is also listed as a supported device so it's a fairly good chance the mic will work with the G4 as well.
You'd need to check if this app works with your device. It's the only way to record reliable using external apps on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro
You can attach a soundcard to your phone. For Android, I use a Behringer UFO 202 and the app "USB Audio Recorder PRO".

Hey thanks for the response ! So after using the extream driver in the audio evolution trial I am now getting playback from my 18i20 whereas before it was completely silent, so that's one step forward for sure. Now I can record audio into the app but if I try to switch to another app while this one is open, I'll still get the audio playback but none of the audio is captured outside of evolution.
Wondering is there a way to set audio output from one app (evolution) to other apps (like phone camera, instagram, FB) ? Not sure if that is even a thing...
Looked into extream and I see they have a few other paid apps, but going into audio recorder pro the description reads "this is not a generic driver, you can only playback and record within this app. It is not possible to use your USB audio device with other apps"
So Im curious if there's just no "generic drivers" for the 18i20 yet for USB audio output among other apps in an android device. Will continue to mess around and see what I can find.
Also this long response wasn't entirely directed at you haha just kinda ranting and providing more info on where I'm at and my thoughts. Again much appreciation for pointing me in the right direction !
I'm still stumped, appears the USB Audio Recorder PRO from eXtream Software Development is one of the only properly working options for recording on Android. Costs around $5: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro
I don't know if you would get stereo recording through the jack. Id use a DAC that plugs into your USB-C port. Most portable DAC units will have a input or two on them, my FiiO has a analog and digital input for example.
You can then use an app like USB audio recorder PRO to record your set. I don't have any affiliation with that app or FIiO, these are just examples.
I haven't done this in ages, but... Back when I was rocking a samsung S3 I used USB audio recorder pro to record from my mustang 1 amp. Worked great. I do not know if it still works great, or if there are free alternatives now. I do remember it requiring that the phone support USB otg, and I have no idea if that's common now or not. I assume so. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro
If you have an Android device, USB Audio Recorder is pretty solid. I've used it with a Scarlett 2i2, and it supports a number of audio formats including FLAC. All you need is a USB OTG cable.
I must have missed that you are talking about input. As for input, I can't get my Yeti Pro work in apps that are using native Android driver, but the app USB Audio Recorder PRO works fine.

and here's the link to the trial version if you need to try it before you buy.

Don't know for sure, but I do know that it supports the standard USB OTG protocol for external storage and input devices. So technically it should. It may be more of a software limitation than anything else. Just did a quick Google search and found this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro
Actually, I was capable of using my pc headset with OTG for skype calls, so it's natural to assume that none will be needed. But there is a USB Audio Recorder, with a trial version available.

If you want music controls overlayed, use a media player that offers it. Seems kinda dumb considering you did steering wheel controls already...
What are you going to tweak/upgrade on a tablet, and how the work required "fundamentally flawed" in a way that differs from what you will have to do to replace that dull and low definition netbook screen?
What service offers that rate? It seems well beyond the general market offerings in $USD.
I have both! The xtremeguard experience has been perfect. The install went smooth for my first time ever, and it looks fine. Thankfully havent had to test its strength yet.
As for the USB DAC, I used "USB Audio Recorder" app. I've used it so far with my Blue Yeti Pro, and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 XLR recorder. Both performed perfectly. Sadly though... my 6P had a defect that caused OTG to stop working, as well as the stock charger. It's currently in RMA for that, but I believe the issue was unrelated to the usage of these recorders.
The one thing I didn't actually try though was audio output through the DAC, but USB Audio recorder supports it and the dev has a dedicated player app too for it. So I imagine it would work just fine. I know the output did show up as an option at least, and showed the expected supported output frequencies and sample rates.
I've recorded things with an old 2012 Nexus 7 running KitKat, using USB Audio Recorder and Audio Evolution Mobile Studio. Works very well.
An Android app I've seen described as a good choice for USB recording is USB Audio Recorder Pro. You might look at their list of supported hardware. They list the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 as "highly recommended."
I use an app to digitise my vinyls. My record player has a USB output and I can directly record them as FLAC.
If you have a USB audio recorder connected to your phone, you can probably use this app:

Thanks for the suggestion. Is it this? USB Audio Recorder PRO
Well there are a few USB microphone apps. I recommend https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro
