10 ideas for six figure business
You may need to a combination of these to go past your six figure market but it should get you started.
Yes, using something like Wix or http://www.Weebly.com (they have a $0 plan) is good to start. You could also try Google Firebase at https://firebase.google.com/products/hosting which is free, but I have never tried it personally.
Our first or second event may be a wework. We will ask wework to sponsor a small business. (They already know me, because they acquired meetup.com; so I will ask them and it will be yes, yes, no, no)
Competition is healthy
There's no such thing as no competition
The concept of no competition does not exist

Hey! I made an app that allows you to track how you spend your time and use data to bring positive changes into your life. If that sounds interesting to you, try it out on Play Store:

The water needs to be deionized so we have a machine that will deionize the water for us as we fill up the tanks. Here is a link to get an idea.
There has to be water pressure for the machine to deionize the water which is why a water source with a hose is needed.
We will also be needed about 40-50 gallons of water every other day which is why we need an option that can provide us with a lot of deionized water easily and affectively
Yeah the latest version is my release in ios, but here is the android link ExplorApp.
My app is more like a build content app instead of an agregator that gathers data from different websites. The aim is to share with your friends places you like recommend. You make a list for ex. of "favorite parks" and then add parks you like through either google maps or directly on the app.
Just wanted to say that just because I made this doesn't mean you shouldn't make something cooler, if you have a vision for something do it. Cheers
I recommend to start with literature on best practices: https://www.amazon.fr/Lean-Startup-Innovation-Successful-Businesses/dp/0670921602/ref=sr_1_1
There you'll find structured guidelines.
Don’t bother with patents
Do checkout https://www.udacity.com/course/how-to-build-a-startup--ep245
Also you should look to see if your college of choice has a business incubator or maybe there is a local non profit incubator/accelerator OR checkout SCORE or SBDC if you’re in the USA

Themeforest has a bunch of wordpress templates for <$100. Bubble.io has templates as well, but I haven't used them myself.
Are you working with any planning/business plan tools to flesh-out this idea more?

RE - VPN Service selling Data
I think something like this happened with one of the big VPN players (not sure if it was NordVPN or someone else) - but I vaguely recall this 'disclosure' of data which the VPN providers claimed to never have on their clients was one of the ways the Panama Papers scandal got out
Just saw this last night... https://www.producthunt.com/posts/i-wish-there-was-an-app-for

Edit:
Adding. The people who submit and contribute on producthunt are pretty involved...could be worth taking a chance, reach out and see if they're willing to share how it went?
I suggest you use the self-hosted wordpress.org instead of wordpress.com. With the latter, you have to upgrade to a higher plan to use the e-commerce feature. With the former, all you have to do is buy a domain name and a host. No need to upgrade whatsoever.
I have been using overseas workers for almost 20 years and never had any major problems, but you can get low cost programmers in the US also, like at https://www.guru.com . Any problems I have had are the same whether local workers or low-cost overseas workers.
Two sites that I have used extensively in the past to source developers.
I can only speak from a hiring point of view, but a lack of attention to detail is the common reason for freelancers/agencies losing work.
I've posted very simple tasks that are a catalyst for much larger projects to see if the people bidding can get the basics right.
Again, this is only my experience from someone hiring: I don't want to have go through sales people & managers, because to me, they just add to the cost.
Sure you should have oversight, but if your guys can't communicate - that would be an issue to me.
Kind of a you get what you pay for thing. If you have specific questions related to a topic, maybe post on Upwork.com looking for 1 hour (2 hours, .5 hours, etc) of a consultant in the XYZ area of expertise to run a few things by. You'll have to pay, but you'll get a bunch of people bidding on your project, can see what their history has been, qualifications, etc.
I used to work as a CFO and then went into consulting, so I speak from experience, I'd get a lot of startups looking for advice in the accounting/finance/capital areas who just wanted some straight answers from someone in the know. Upwork was my main place. Guru.com is another but its not nearly as popular as it used to be.
Prices seem cheap, just don't want you to sell yourself short. But, it Fiverr and people aren't looking to spend much on there so I get it. I used to build financial models for companies, a normal model cost about $1000-$2000.
Do you know of upwork.com and guru.com ? Basically professional freelancers selling there services to companies (and people). I don't actively use them anymore, but back in my day (as a finance/accounting consultant) thats where I got a lot of my work (upwork used to be elance), and that's where I'd get people paying $1k-$2K for financial models, business plans, etc.
Just an idea to set up shop on there, might be able to get a lot more for your effort.
Check out Upwork.com for gigs. You really dont need much or any startup capital. You could throw a few bucks at a copywriter to write a nice profile, but honestly you are just selling your skills to people & companies who need them.
Trying selling your tech skills on guru.com or upwork.com , although I'm not sure if there's a min age requirement. Basically those sites match up people with skills with people/companies who need them on a project basis. Heads up though, you'll be competing with tons of people worldwide who are willing to work for $5/hour or less sometimes, so it doesn't always work out. On the flip side, some companies prefer to work with US based people and pay more for it (time zone reasons, language barrier, etc). Free to sign up at both of them, just create your profile and go look around for projects to bid on.
Fiverr is another for the design skills. Same idea though, you won't be getting rich, but if you are willing to work for quantity and build up a reputation in time you'll get more and more work.
Personally... I feel drop shipping is pretty played out at this point. Not saying there isn't money to be made, but it seems like the fad "internet entrepreneur" niche right now. I'd spend your time figuring out something you are willing to do long term (or at least a few years while in college).
And last point, if whatever you do decide to do, if you can tie it into what your long term goal is, great time to get a head start. For example if you are going into journalism, start trying to sell journalism type of services. Again you might not make much out of the gate, but when its 5 years from now and you already have a roster of clients and a portfolio of work, that'll be a huge leg up.
I totally agree with you that since the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic, remote working has become the new normal. I work with a company called Proprofs help desk (https://www.proprofsdesk.com/) and 100% of our employees are currently working from their respective homes. I do see a lot of potential in your business and would like to know what users are saying about your business model? Or some challenges you guys might be facing?
>oneflare.com.au.
Yea! This reminds me of thumbtack.com you ask for a quote and people answer the call. I'm trying to do away with quoting as much as possible. Kind of like a local version of Fiverr.com. I think I really need to work on how I present the idea. It seems I have to get too wordy and it gets confusing.
Thanks for your great suggestions! :)
>Your aggregator would only make that worse.
Why do you think it would make things worse? Do you think that https://www.trivago.com/ made it worse for hotels?
>Maybe rather than pulling data from delivery services, you could pull data from and link to the restaurants' websites directly? Often restaurants prefer customers to order directly so the delivery services don't take a cut.
Could you give me a more detailed explanation about what you mean, please?
I think that the problem here is that most of the restaurant, ice cream shop, fastfood ect. rely only on food delivery services and on their website you cannot place orders.. Besides they have their menus in a pdf format.
I am not am app developer myself, but I have paid people to make apps for me and then needed to test them, and I used services like: https://www.lambdatest.com and https://www.browserstack.com although the sites I used were free (I can't remember which ones I used).
5 Ideas:
Just to let you know rating is frowned upon by the app store. Somewhere in the TOS for Apple, it says your app can not rate people and I think it uses HotorNot.com as an example.
All I’d really need is some land, some glow in the dark paint, some obstacles, and some refillable water fire extinguishers like these. Because fire is involved, a lot of waivers would definitely need to be signed, though.
There are many digital card-storage apps for your phone, eg https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.stocard.stocard. customer just scans the barcode on their plastic cards once, and show that same barcode from the app to the cashier. completely free for both parties...
Get you a cold wallet. Also get something like this to store your seeds in case of fire or in case your wallet fails or the company goes under .

>I think 30% cut taken by Apple for your app sales is crazy expensive
this is why i'm not on apple
visit reamit.app or find me on Google Play
Sounds like he read Nathan Latka's book.
Or it might even be Nathan. If it is Nathan, then you might want to watch out.
I don't have a problem with what Nathan does. It's on you to determine your value. I agree someone has to make decisions but that doesn't mean equity should go 60/40. You can have a decision-maker with an even split of the equity which is recommended by Y Combinator. Or make it 51/49.
It doesn't sound like you'll make money without help and it makes sense that help would cost something. Some money is better than none so I think there's an opportunity here. Just make the deal you want saved be willing to walk away.
Just because you got this offer makes me curious about your app. If you want a counter-offer, DM me and I'll look into it. If I'm interested the equity split would be 50/50. My background is marketing and IT.
Thanks for the input. I thought of a necklace, but since it would be below the chin, it might be hard to light up the whole face.
I’d probably have to have some sort of diffuser over the light to keep it from being so blinding and to cover evenly.
It might also be possible to make this as a clip on. Sort of the reverse of this: clip on hat light
Should be cheap enough to prototype. The main problem I foresee is with the amount of light needed to make a face appear to glow, the wearer would be effectively 🎶 blinded by the light.
Also, skin tone/luster will affect effectiveness. I could see this causing some friction in the customer satisfaction department. Also, ball caps are worn more by men who may be less inclined to light up their face.
On the other hand, there’s currently this thing on the market: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08L793CZ9/. Maybe a dumbed down version of that would fit the bill.
OR a necklace that illuminates from below. Could be more effective, less blinding, more universal appeal. Kind of like those chemical glow stick necklaces. Maybe that’s already a thing too... https://www.etsy.com/listing/685388046/white-color-changing-led-choker
Google trend can save you from the stress though.

I read a sleek business validation method it in this book...
I'm picturing this as a bracelet you blow directly on. Instead of having to remove or twist into position.
A few thoughts: There are emergency keychains: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DMT8SLQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_C3aLDbX84JA0S
That as a bracelet would be a nice option.
How would you prevent false positives? If it is an actual whistle, should it be like a dog whistle, or just loud to alert others to your presence.
You should go to place(s) that teach self defense to get their insights. Maybe approach them with a prop so that you can show them visually. Even if it is a rubber bracelet with a black sharpie dot where the whistle would be.
If it was like the emergency keychain, but was a bracelet, I would consider buying it. I would wear it so it would be around my knuckles and the button facing inward so that I could activate the button with one hand.
There is already one.. Check out Wisdo

Just going to throw this out there. I dreamed a dream today, and that dream involves a monthly subscription box, and a business plan that is similar to what's in the book Looptail.
If someone is even remotely interested, please let me know. I'm going to be thinking about this pretty heavily for the next few months, and see if this is a viable quit-my-job idea.
