I never see anyone talk about the comics on here and I like this cover so I figured I'd upload it
This series was a prequel to Mankind Divided, you can buy it digitally here
For Invisible War, you might want to install this: https://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-2-visible-upgrade
Multiple visual and performance enhancements.
As for DX1... I never had any issues with running it on win10. Can you be more specific?
It's just a weird game in general. It's not just you.
Make sure you're using the mod, but beyond that, there's not much that can improve the game.
Absolutely not. Invisible War's dogshit, user-unfriendly engine makes the game nearly impossible to mod. Best you'll find is the https://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-2-visible-upgrade
and all that does is make the game less shitty to get running. It would be easier to do a handstand while taking a shit than it would be to create even a fraction of a GMDX mod for IW.
Oof. I just sold the physical CD to a person (with excellent taste) on Amazon. You should be able to buy one there.
Hearts of Stone is still a 10-18 hour expansion priced cheaper than this 2-4 hour DLC.
Blood and wine was a 20-40 hour expansion for €20,-. That's a slightly longer experience than the main game was for mankind divided.
I don't really care if it's labeled DLC or expansion if the price tag is the same.
(source of playtime: http://howlongtobeat.com)
Squeenix still sells it on their website, and you can get keys for The Missing Link from Green Man Gaming.

If the system requirements aren't out yet then theres no way to know. How well does your computer run other modern games? If you can run Witcher 3/Metal Gear/Battlefield/front/COD or whatever then you should be fine. I don't picture mankind divided as being a system destroyer.
When the requirements are released, use this to find out: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
They're fine, they're an official distributor. Just be aware of their refund policy - once you have your key, the sale is final.
Shifter Mod is a good mod to have. It fixed some "un-fun" elements, such as non-replaceable augmentations. It also give you rewards for skill kills.
New Vision pretties the game up a good bit.
This thread is getting hammered by downvoters for some reason...
Aside from DX GOTY + GMDX, I would recommend using these two add-ons:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/gmdx/addons/shipping-receiving-add-on
https://www.moddb.com/mods/gmdx/addons/vanilla-dragon-tooth-sword-for-gmdx
After you've launched the game once with GMDX, go back to your GMDX user ini and enable the extra/hardcore options. That way you can completely customize your gameplay (tougher AI, etc.)

Only the cutscenes look better. You can view them on Youtube.
Holster your weapon when going into areas with "No Weapons" signs.
I know it can be easy to miss!
Like the other user said, play to find out more!
There is a very common minor bug with his conversation, you may want to get Confix; which fixes that among many other conversation bugs.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/confix
The community update also contains confix, among many other patches and useful additions! (As well all translations)
Biased though, since I started both projects! (Though, the vast majority of the work in both is by others, especially the CU; which is mostly a package with a fancy installer).
There isn't really a "best" mod. You just need to find the mods that you want to play with.

Yall need to stop hating, IW isn't the best DX game, but it's still a great game.
The widescreen patch that came out last year is reason enough to give it another shot if you're a Deus Ex fan. Total game changer for me.

Well, IIRC there are two right now. Tactical and Explosive. Tactical is an extra weapon, Explosive is an extra mission that splices into the main story line. Missing Link isn't supposed to be out until sometime this month.
So, I'd suggest
In that order.
Needed some layout practice, so I made a brochure for Sarif's eye augments. Snagged the foundation of this layout from here: https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/abstract-business-trifold_1144191.htm#term=brochure&page=1&position=2
Opinion welcome!
There's a fan patch called Visible Upgrade.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-2-visible-upgrade
It has a few fixes, and included FOV adjustment.
Unfortunately, there were no modding tools released for DX2.
This makes the process much harder.
I'm actually involved with the Community Update, I think you have it confused with the Unofficial Patch V2?
https://www.moddb.com/games/deus-ex/downloads/deus-ex-unofficial-patch-v2
Human Renovation is based on UPV2, except it does changes some game-play aspects, This is mentioned in it's ReadMe.
This is why I decided to use UPV2 instead of HR for the CU.
It was actually originally named Unofficial Patch Version 3!
A single playthrough just means from start till end of the story, you can do it in as many sittings as you like :).
For Doctorate, keep this link somewhere at hand: http://deusex.wikia.com/wiki/Doctorate or perhaps look for a guide with pictures if you think that's easier. EDIT: one with pictures http://www.ign.com/wikis/deus-ex-human-revolution/XP_Book_Locations
As for Foxiest of the Hounds, save often and try to check if you get all the Smooth Operator bonuses. Don't make any risky hacks, or at least quick save before you do.
Honestly, as has been said, if you don't think your laptop can run it, just get it on PS4. There was very little that was done with HR in regards to the modding scene so other then graphics and controls, it will (most likely) be the exact same experience on both platforms.
Edit: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/deus-ex-mankind-divided/13222
Try that though, maybe it will tell you
There is a mod for Mankind Divided that removed the Stealth Avatar, among others, as a default augmentation. If you don't want the other hardcore features from the mod, the mod author has some instructions on how to do it yourself, if you don't mind a little hex editing (I haven't tried myself so I have no tips to offer here).
All mods for Human Revolution are tweaks or straight up hacks into engine because there is no real way to develop mods.
On the contrary, original game had SDK (software development kit) made by devs and released publicly. Take look at features here. There's even official manual available.
Not possible without modifying the game files yourself, which shouldn't be too hard. I guess someone could make an addon for this if they desired, like the addon that reverts to the old Dragon's Tooth Sword model. If anyone wants to try to do this, I can guide them through the process; I'm just not terribly interested in doing it myself (I think the HDTP models are quite garish).
According to PCGamingWiki:
>Before entering the shooting range itself, empty your inventory, or at least remove the weapons from the inventory. Supposedly, just not interacting with the lockers at the shooting range instead of dropping the inventory works, too.
It's a bit of a challenge since Deus Ex uses a ton of different keys, but I'd probably try playing the GMDX mod with the radial augmentation menu: https://www.moddb.com/mods/gmdx/addons/radial-augmentation-menu
I've played the GMDX mod, though I've never tried this radial menu add-on.
I'm not familiar with PS2 emulation and haven't played that version of the game, so I'll have to let someone else chime in there. Though I think most people would recommend the PC version, even if the controls take some adjusting.
If you are able to play the GMDX mod, there's an add-on with a radial augmentation menu. I haven't tried it, but I imagine it would be helpful in making DX1 more controller-friendly: https://www.moddb.com/mods/gmdx/addons/radial-augmentation-menu
Here you go, googled it and it seems to be a prevailing theory:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/944090-/60167780
So you can stop with the downvotes, thanks.
Did you never upgrade your Hacking: Stealth ability? By the end of my Deus Ex difficulty runthrough I had something like 50 nukes and 30 stops left... and I hacked pretty much every computer and door lock in the game even when I had the password/code because I wanted the xp.
And here is a giant list of passwords but unfortunately I don't see the Mstaine one. You probably can't find the password naturally because of the achievement tied to hacking that particular computer... but my guess is it will be something Megadeth related though. Try Hangar18 or Megadeth maybe? If you're that desperate to get in, there is a trainer out there for the PC version that allows you to type in any password and gain access.
They are acoustic pads I found on Amazon. Here’s a link: DEKIRU 12 Pack Acoustic Panels Hexagon Sound Proof Padding, 14 X 13 X 0.4 Inches Sound dampening Panel Used in Home & Offices (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0894CLK38/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4KWMAXAX86R2FRF5M95J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You can always use http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri aka canyourunit.com for games that have been released, or try and guess a game with similar requirements for games that haven't. The controls will probably be fine on PS4, I owned human revolution for both my xbox and PC and ended up using my xbox controller with my computer because i actually preferred the controller.
That being said, if you REALLY wanted to play it on PC, you can always find a way....
Just making sure: have you done everything mentioned on the PC gaming wiki? https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Invisible_War
Also, DX:IW has two .exe files, try to set them both to use nVidia. I'm also on a laptop, a bit older than yours by the looks of it, and it worked... eventually. Although I can't remember whether I managed to get it to work on nVidia or if the Intel card was good enough.
Note - Aware of the following issues:
Cestina/Czech has no setup translation, that's why it isn't shown. Built from this mod (which ships a bunch of unneeded files btw, way larger then it needs to be) https://www.moddb.com/mods/deusexczmod-1112fm A few other languages were missing setup translations, but translators have been found for them!
Português developer string is too big and overflows.
Missing "Deus Ex Setup" and "Next" and "Cancel" button translations.
If anyone spots any issues we'd love to know!
If you want to be a tester ask here or the DXC Discord!
Oh and almost forgot, Merry Deus X-mas!
Depending on your region, you can buy cd-key from certain sites. Before that, I would recommend go through this to possibly fix some of the issues: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Human_Revolution_-_Director%27s_Cut
I played it at launch with a potato system barely above minimum requirements (yes, below recommended). I remember using low to mid settings and capping the FPS to 30 with half vsync. Loading times were hellishly long, and there were some hiccups and minor visual glitches here and there, but other than that it was fine. No significant issues, no quest breaking bugs or anything.
Now I have a better PC, and obviously the performance is way better as long as I don't use the very taxing MSAA.
Check this out for a breakdown and common issues:
I don't know if this is the problem you are encountering, but there is something about mouse accelaration on PCGamingWiki.
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Human_Revolution_-_Director%27s_Cut
I had these issues as well and ended up giving up on the game because of the micro-stutter. They promised a patch for this and then never bothered delivering it...
I wouldn't mind playing my original version but I don't have dlc with it and don't even think it's possible to buy it anymore.
this one has the pre-order stuff for 37,5 euro (you need to create a account to get the 25% discount)
they are official reseller for the game
https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/deus-ex-mankind-divided/
Use ZenMate, it helped me solve this problem. It's going to slow down your internet speed a bit, but you will be able to acess Game Informer. EDIT: Make sure to set your location to USA.
I used the Visible Upgrade mod to fix most of the issues, and you know what? Turns out the black sheep of this franchise is still a very solid game on it's own.
NEON STRUCT! It's pretty much inspired by DX1 and very similar in some regard. The soundtrack is amazing and reminiscent of classic cyberpunk. I highly recommend it, including the (free) DLC The Dulce Archives. It goes on itch.io/Steam sale quite often, so you can probably grab it for $1-5. It was made by just one person so the gameplay is not very complex, but I think it's worth playing for the atmosphere and the music.
edit: Actually, it's 90% off right now, so you can grab it for $1.79!
With the exception of the oddly high RAM requirement those are pretty standard for AAA games these days... Doom had very similar recommended specs for example
In addition to what others are saying, the default exe on modern hardware prevents the brightness slider from working. Definitely check out pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex to get the game running at it's best.
2 is a masterpiece, a top 10 game of all time for me. I only played it for the first time 2 years ago.
There are several mods out there to make the game look a bit better and stuff.
I'd suggest you to check out this album: https://imgur.com/a/1BjFg
Links and stuff inside.
Also read up on the Pcgamingwiki about the game
I can't speak for SS1, never played it.
I'd recommend trying the Visible Upgrade unofficial patch: https://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-2-visible-upgrade
Fixes a lot of issues!
Thought unfortunately even with it playing IW isn't ideal.
GMDX will fix all of your problems, and give you the most glorious Deus Ex experience of your life. It is life changing.
if you're after the notation, AFAIK you could just use https://openmpt.org/ and open the .umx files in the game's music folder. Works for org. Unreal Tournament: https://i.imgur.com/buCAe5x.png
Since Deux Ex uses the same engine, I'd assume it uses the same music format too
I would avoid those 2 mods for now as they are pretty comprehensive
THe ones you need are these
http://www.kentie.net/article/dxguide/ - Makes the game run good
https://www.moddb.com/mods/new-vision - Better textures for most environments
> if they know any good mods besides gmdx and revision for dx1 that has a different story or maps or gameplay or anything so i can squeeze as much as i can out of deus ex 1 as I CRAVE MORE
The Nameless Mod (the best IMO, and like 25h or more), 2027, Nihilum (both very good too), Zodiac (the first long one, pretty good too), Hotel Carone, Mutations (these are shorter), Terminus Machina (this one is very different, withmore complex mechanics)... Find them all here.
I agree with Blacklight’s questionable separation from the game, but it was a good book, at least. The comics weren’t necessary from what I remember, simply expanded on irrelevant operations TF29 undertook. Which is exactly what I wanted from DX: Universe. Too bad we didn’t get enough.
Thanks for the clarification on Icarus Effect, I only know anecdotes. I bought the book but barely read it and forgot about it :/
Yup! They made a few Mankind Divided figures, one you didn’t know about was this one: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Adam Jensen Statue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCKVC7A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GXRAC1JT25NFWAG75BE9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
And two variants of a overpriced, limited figure (“Gaming Heads” brand) that came out like 3 years after the game for some reason. I can’t even find them online… https://youtu.be/g29Mwt_ujSM
This is a common problem on modern systems. My game was fixed my adjusting resolution, but yours might be different. Try these fixes to get going. https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Invisible_War
PC Gaming Wiki and custom searches on this sub are your best bet. DX:MD is pretty intensive even on good computers, so it might be just that. :c
Yep. They aren't anything particularly special, but they do introduce the taskforce team, an anti-aug news presenter who might be in the game, and they aren't terrible like the Human Revolution ones.
You can buy them digitally here.
Very! More evidence towards a theory I have.
I think 0.0.41 was just used by a pirate release group to get users to go to their pages. All versions of .41 I've found seem to be the same file.
Would you mind taking a screen of the page?
If you don't have a preferred screenshot message, I really like ShareX: https://getsharex.com/
On PC, the store and Breach mode have been removed from the GOG.com version. That means the consumables from the season pass are also missing, since they're attached to the store (there's a list of them here). There's also a vendor in Prague who offers to buy Breach software from you but then doesn't, since there's no Breach mode to use them in.
I'm sorry I don't know why I read this as DXMD, I used Pinnacle Game Profiler to play Oblivion with the X360 Controller on PC and it was pretty easy to set up, I found this profile for the Pinnacle Profiler and the original Deus Ex. http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/forum/showthread.php?22055-Deus-Ex)
First of all, I found the deja vu also a bit off-putting. Detroit replacing New York was fine, but at later points in the game it felt like the Devs were just checking off boxes: travel to an Asian city - check, does it have a nightclub - check, infiltrate medical company - check, evil female CEO with nice apartment - check, level aboard a container freight ship - check, underwater base - check, etc...
The game mechanics in HR were quite irritating at first. The cover system and instant takedowns felt absolutely weird, but once I got used to them, I enjoyed the heck out of them. I'd say HR is slightly ahead of DX in this department.
Graphics - no contest
Music - no contest either, DX wins hands down
But the main point about any Deus Ex game has to be narrative, and that is where DX blows HR out of the water. While the gears and machinations and personal betrayal in HR make for a great yarn, it simply doesn't have the depth and scale of the conspiracy that drives the original game. Just talking to Leo Gold at the end of the first mission feels like a condensed version of the X-Files with a nice dash of Illuminatus! rewritten by William Gibson.
EDIT: Also, it not only was far ahead of its time, but also turned out to be damn predictive.
So overall it's a draw, depending on personal preference. I value story and good writing more than graphics, so DX wins for me, even though I would love some of HR's more advanced game mechanics to be ported to the original.
September 8th on the calendar is empty, but active, probably as a placeholder for such an announcement (then again, there is the sunday thing on the "missing link" picture. we'll have to wait and see. )
Those aren't in the augmented edition. They're pre-order bonuses.
Of course the pre-order mission is Tong's Rescue, which I'll probably miss out on then. Thanks pre-order bonuses; you always know how to make me feel left out.
Download HW Monitor or RealTemp and watch your GPU temperatures as it happens. This used to happen on games when my 7800GTX was giving it up, and the temps would get insane until it was unplayable. My hope is that it's drivers or something like that and not the card, but it's worth a shot.
That's because each file contains all the music for the particular level in a series of patterns. When you first open a file in VLC and let it play through, it starts playing the first pattern (pattern 000), which is usually the general "exploration" music for that level. The time stamp you get in VLC is the duration of that first pattern.
In order to play the other patterns (action music) for example, you'd have to guess exactly where on the VLC slider the instruction to play that pattern lands. When you randomly click on the slider, you give other strange, unwanted instructions that give weird results.
If you want to play with the .it or .umx files, something like Schism Tracker will help you out. Then you can actually select patterns as they were programmed and hear the music. http://schismtracker.org/wiki/Schism%20Tracker
You can kind of see how the game uses these files during gameplay, basically picking patterns to play based on what's happening to the player.
well, maybe. when you open the .umx files, it should look roughly like this: https://openmpt.org/img/shots/xm_edit_mode.png
the "excel looking" columns and rows are the notation data.
The notes are written like this:
C#4 04 v32 A15 ^ ^ ^ ^- "A15" is effect of the note. | | |------- "v32" is the volume of the note. | |---------- "04" is the instrument/sample number. |------------- is the note, eg. 4th octave C#
the trick is just to find which instrument's notes you're interested in. They can be on pretty much any column (or: track/channel)
Above the "excel" area, is a row of numbers in boxes, this is pattern order view. Basically a pattern is like a.. line in notation sheet? Kinda. But tldr: just click from leftmost pattern towards the rightmost to see the song in order.
Thanks OP!
That said...
I learned a lot about writing music and time-based sampling from the original Deus Ex, Unreal & Unreal Tournament music. If you're interested in picking it apart, I strongly recommend downloading OpenMPT and checking it out for yourself.
OpenMPT opens UMX files (which is basically an XM/IT file container), so you can play it back and see exactly what's going on in real-time. Grab OpenMPT, head into the DeusEx/Music directory, and enjoy.
Not only is it neat to listen to, but it'll give you a greater appreciation for how the old Unreal engine played back tracker files, and how it allowed for semi-dynamic music.
I ran the in game benchmark with the preset graphics options of High and Very High at 1080p. On average fps numbers went up from dx11 to dx12, a small amount.
In game I first did a quick test run with of the dlc desperate measures, with dx12. It seemed fine, didn't feel any different, nothing gained nothing lost.
However when i tried the actual game things went downhill very quickly. I have the game installed on an SSD, the loading screen used to pass by quickly, with dx12 i got to see a lot more of it, a lot more.
Walking around felt like a slide show. Outdoors, indoors, crap. Quit after 1 minute.
Turned the graphics settings down to either off or low, went back in game, still no good.
Back to dx11, and the dx12 experience has given me a new appreciation for the goodness of dx11, and I'm enjoying it even more now. So that is 1 positive feature dx12 provided.
Looking forward to testing any future updates with dx12.
(but there is always the vulkan api if the development of dx12 doesn't work out)
i3-6100 CPU @ 4.50GHz

that's a bad ass laptop...you should be able to run this game just fine...it seems that quit a few people are having video issues with this game...I'm sure there will be patches in the future.
Make sure you have all your extraneous processes killed before you run the game...and turning off anti virus software will free up resources...i like using Process Explorer
Well, whether they suck or not is pretty much personal taste, for the Mankind Divided one I like the inside but the outside looks less amazing. The utility of many pockets is strong though. It would be this one, and it's probably the one you're referring to trenchoat4.0
There's also this one, it just says Adam Jensen trenchcoat, but I struggle to remember when he wore something like this (Maybe before becoming augmented?) so I'm thinking it's not official.
While it's not the DX1 novel you want, has anyone read the books by James Swallow? Deus Ex Icarus Effect
It's this one:
Pay no attention to the fact that Amazon lists it as "volume 1". It's actually the only one and contains all 5 issues.
Huh, doesn't pop up in search. But i managed to find in my app history https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.squareenix.DeusExCompanion
It's fairly useless though, iirc all it does is show you short dev commentary videos from youtube (each triangle thing is essentially a glorified qr code for a yt vid). You can probably find all the video links from dx wiki or something
It is here I think.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.test.eveio
The video is the least descriptive imaginable but the art style looks nice.
I am curious enough that I may try it out.

ty for the clarification.
Any idea where I can find the music track for the launch trailer ?
It is not included in the Ost released for the trailers.
And what would you recommend if I wanted to purchase HR/MD Ost, best audio quality in digital format?
I really wanted to go for this one but it has some bad reviews. I'd rather buy in digital format.
Your soundcloud seems to be the only option rn now that Spotify's gone.
I guess I should've tried a free VPN like the one you suggested OP, but I bought myself a month of VPN from HideMyAss instead. It works great.
Does anyone know if the achievements will be saved once Steam gets to go online again?
I'm at the 65% mark now, and I have to say that it's really unnerving...
EDIT: Especially because FlyVPN says that it only works for 20 mins at a time.. What happens if it goes down while it's activating? I don't think I want to know.
Np :) Your reply reminded me of this PC Gamer article, in case you haven't read it
Personally I wish for something more philosophical and subversive. I'm tired of video games having nothing to say, especially now they're mass-market and have to compete with my time with Netflix/Kindle/etc. E.g. I'm reading this awesome book which is basically cosmology-as-transhumanism. It's a million times fresher than anything by Kurzweil and it makes me want some kind of Deus Ex: 2001 edition haha :D
The "really" part is at the end of this preview (when you click the picture on the left where it says Look Inside): https://www.amazon.com/Deus-Ex-Mankind-Divided-prequel/dp/178565120X
All the "really" appears to reference is "That's all I have to tell you," as in she assumes he actually has more to say, that we shouldn't just blindly accept that "Darrow is at the bottom of the sea somewhere and that we should all just move on."
edit: tl;dr it isn't important
The soundtrack hasn't actuallly been officially released yet, so I assume the only current option is to rip it directly from the game files.
Edit: This site says it's coming out earlier than the Extended Edition on Amazon
Probably best to buy it from Amazon. What you do is buy the PC Download for 35 USD (I'm assuming you live in the US), and you can get the tactical pack for free. The game is a Steamworks title, so no matter where you get it at, it'll have to be activated through Steam.
I got my copy of Deus Ex for 30 bucks through Greenman Gaming and activated it through Steam with no problems.
Ah... in that case, I guess you really can't upgrade too much. It should still be sufficient, though you'd do well to keep it on a flat surface like a lap desk, and use a cooling pad.
Personally, I use the Antec cooling pad, and find it does ok. The actual built in fan on my laptop never engages full speed when I use it (YMMV)
Ok i'm pretty sure square enix doesn't give a fuck how people, there is no secret plot here.
Stats are recorded mainly for use with the mobile companion app here.
