Just a quick follow up, for folks looking for secure texting and video chat, Signal is the gold standard. Free and open source, cross platform, endorsed by security and cryptography experts.
Signal created its own secure messaging protocol that's been adopted by WhatsApp, and will be used by Google Messenger (RCS)
A short blurb on closed source: sure, it’s not an inherent vulnerability, but it’s definitely far from an advantage when it’s security related. What are you going to trust more, the product that has thousands of people involved looking at it, or a small team? I work in the security space and it’s unbelievable just how many vulnerabilities a product can have in places you wouldn’t even expect.
Within the closed source space, you then get some great examples like 1Password’s 81 page white paper going into their security. With lockdown, reading their security info page, it’s heavy with buzzwords and light on the details. The most I could find was “Atomization encryption”. To reference Bruce Schneier don’t roll your own crypto.
To be clear, I’m not trying to say that this isn’t a good product or that it’s a bad one, but I definitely would want to wait a long while before using it. It would be promising to see a CSO (Chief Security Officer) on their team, along with more explicit/affirmative information on why it is secure.
So counter point to your first point. You can still find this on amazon. It took me less than five minutes in google.
Second point , there is no way anyone can debate this, simply because you are arguing using feelings. People will still commit violent crimes they will just use what is the most easiest to obtain ie the spike in acid attacks in european countries that have banned firearms.
three ,Concerning the safari ball idea, while its a nice idea its not very practical. How am i supposed to prevent wild animals especially feral pigs from destroying any agricultural land whether farm or personal garden. Those suckers run in packs of anywhere from 5 to 20 that i have seen. Also a common argument to the populace being able to arm themselves is to prevent tyrannical action on the part of government. How are you supposed to defend your self from a govt that is spends the most out of any country when you cant even own a weapon from the same technological era.
We used to have a super fancy one, with a heated seat and heated water. It was like $1000, and it came with the house (renting it from grandma) (yeah it's kind of weird when you think about it). It was really nice. Then it was given to another elderly family member and we went a couple of years without a bidet.
Then I bought a cheap one from with only cold water, no electrical hookups at all. And I honestly think it's fine. I didn't like the power cord across the bathroom counter anyway. Not worth the effort of making a more clean installation. The necessary functional requirements of the bidet are totally met in a cheap one, and I still love it so much that sometimes I save my turds for home instead of pooping at work.
Also a side note, my house water pressure was 90 psi, and there was no setting on the bidet that was low enough. There were other issues in the house because of the high pressure, but that was the final straw that made me pay a plumber $400 to put in a pressure regulator on my incoming water line.
tl;dr: my probably unpopular opinion is that cheap bidets with no heat offer a better value.
I purchased this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R11QCCB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I really like it. However I do wish I had purchased one with a remote rather than having the controls connected to the seat. The buttons are hard to see when using the bidet, so most of time I'm "feeling" for the button I want. But then, I am a big guy.
I've only had it this summer so I don't know how all the warming features feel during the winter time. But I turned off the seat heater immediately. And I turned off the water warmer as normal temp seems just fine for me.
Yeah, I've never ever regretted going with the cheap bidet. Have used plenty but I just don't think the extra features justify the price. Most recent model is here:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A17T3N6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_fxk5F3in5pNwk
And my favorite, non-price-related feature is that the little arm will move the spray nozzle back and forth, making the wash much easier and require way less bum-scooching-dance in the process.
There is an browser extension for reddit that attempts to fix this sort of thing: Reddit Enhancement Suit or simply RES
I personally like to have it turn off all the extras RES has on by default (its in the RES settings> core > preset ) and only manually turn back on only the things that I want.
PS: You might want the setting in RES module "Never Ending Reddit" > Hide dupes turned on
PS #2: For the stuff your not interested in seeing: best advice is unsubscribe from those subreddits which content you are not interested in seeing. Or alternatively u can have RES filter out some of the subreddits's content by keyword/domain/etc
Sounds like an interesting idea for someone to learn from.
Anyone who’s looking at this for the first time in September 2021, keep in mind that while advice might be good at the time, with the rate that things change in the privacy and technology arena, some might be a little out of date.
Some of the recommendations in the summary at the link aren’t the best choice today fora very privacy focused person. For example, PIA (Private Internet Access) VPN was gobbled up by a less than reputable company last year, and ProtonMail was caught very recently in a lie with respect to their privacy guarantees.
If you have young kids learning to read, "P is for Pterodactyl" would be a fun one, just because...pictures and alphabet book.
They Thought They Were Free by Milton Mayer
Written in the 1950s, this book explores how Germany so rapidly and willingly accepted the evils of Nazism.
A terrifying look in the mirror
I have this one. It is super easy to install. Your seat may not sit high enough though but that's a fairly easy fix. Or you could buy a new seat.
It works well has plenty of cleaning power and has a setting for the lady bits. It's also easy to clean.
The construction is pretty simple which will probably help make it durable and reliable.

I got this one just as panda was growing: https://www.amazon.com/Bidet-Non-Electric-Mechanical-Attachment-Self-Cleaning/dp/B00P2XZDGG/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=luxe+bidet&qid=1600197937&s=hi&sr=1-6
I have bumpers with it. Works fine. One thing I don't know what to deal with is, um, what I'll call over-spray. At max pressure, itresults in some water spraying onto the toilet seat. Maybe different butts yield different results.
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called The Challenger, here are some Trailers
The security in IoT is in the "S".
I think most manufactures don't consider security at all when building these products, so I try not to have any in my home.
See posts in /r/theinternetofshit for many examples of IoT products with security vulnerabilities.
I also run pihole on a raspberry pi to ensure things like "smart" TV's cannot call home as well as a method of blocking all ads on devices connected to my network.
I was skeptical that a history book about Oklahoma City was going to be interesting (and I live here), but I was very wrong…
Boom Town is a crazy ride of a book from the land run to the Thunder NBA team to supersonic flight experiments over the city to the tragic bombing of the federal building. I’ve never read “history” that is so engaging and smartly written. Enjoy!

One of my inlaws is working on his post-doctorate at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and is VERY up on the raw data, statistics and such. Last week he gave me this really cool link to track the data in real time!

Using these FOSS android forks you can also use android without all the closed-source google software. If that is something you want the easiest place to start is probably https://e.foundation/
You can also use lineageOS to run your phones without googles software. This does mean you don't have access to the play store. However: you can use f-droid, which is a store that only has open source apps (and the only appstore I know of that up to now has never had any malware apps).
Yeah I actually wrote a script based on this where I could search my Google contacts because my "dumbphone" could only hold a limited number of contacts: https://script.google.com/d/1qYb7zxXZIgnxASAsGOowe8ChK_71GQUcMc6vL5ydDfjQlvMtH0bsl7jT/edit?usp=drivesdk
The Eye Of Spirit by Ken Wilber
I confess I have not read this book. However someone I trust read it and their description of the concepts intrigue me. I would be very interested in how Matt and Destin first the material.
Stock up on the syrup whenever you happen to go through the area (or maybe some Wegmans locations outside WNY carry it). Or you can get it on Amazon or something.
Also Crystal Beach > Aunt Rossie's but that's just my opinion.
I use the Kershaw Cryo 1555TI and TAC Force TF-469 Gentleman's Assisted Opening Folding Knife.
Do not try to pry tile off a wall with the end of the Kershaw one. I was dumb. Both have served me well so far.

I think it's out of print. There's no audio book, but it was engaging enough that it's one of the few books I've read recently that I didn't listen to. I had no interest in that era of history before I picked that book up.
Life hack. Switch to a race car fuel jug, like a VP or MrGasket brand. Way better than the old bulky red or super old school metal caddies.

I 100% agree this deserves a mention at least! If you all want a good book to read that expands on the events in the play; check out Founding Brothers. Very readable for any level of historian
https://www.amazon.com/Founding-Brothers-Revolutionary-Joseph-Ellis/dp/0375705244
Funny thing is, you can still buy the old spouts(just not on a gas can). Some of them are marketed as water jugs; they’re the same size, and still use fuel rated plastic. Amazon link, as example..
If you have an Android, I recommend Stay Focused. It gives you statistics of your usage and you can then limit app usage time if you want.
Quick follow up:
If you want to also read like 20K pages of awesome, then go get yourself a copy of "On Basilisk Station." It's the first book in the series, and if this chapter doesn't already hook you, that book certainly will. (The excerpt in from "The Shadow of Saganami," but you're going to want more context than just starting with this book.) I haven't listened to the audio book, they're not really my thing, but the paperback can be had for $7.

How does the non electrical bidet heat water?
I'm looking at this one and I'm not sure if it needs a hot water source or if it's magic.
