smaller market?
Android has a larger user base in North America than iPhone, as of January. TechCrunch
Besides, the app was sent to both markets, Google just released it first.
edit
Apparently Android is bigger than Blackberry, and iPhone as of March 7, 2011. Techcrunch
The vid card is definitely your weakest link.
Speaking of links you would do well to get this card. I did the research and it is compatible with your board.
Edit: This card isnt top of the line, but it is a very solid improvement for a good price. I'd be happy to suggest a different card if you are willing to spend more money on it.
These lists aren't super new, but were made after 1.4 Hope this helps you some.

I would recommend buying the base game. You can get an EU cd key for 7 euro here.
You will permanently get 6 character slots (up from 2) per shard, and an extra 4 bag slots on all characters, along with 1 month patron, a couple of mounts and companions that you can use on every character. You also get a few other things like the ability to summon your banker, etc. that is permanent and other perks from your 1 month patron status (mount speed boost, daily exp boost and other boosts and perks).
You will also receive a bunch of loyalty, I can't remember how much it was, I think around 6k or so, but definitely more than enough to unlock auction house selling for you.
/edit It seems that you can use EU keys for US and vice versa.
It'll run it, but it'll be pretty awful. The CPU is reasonable and the laptop would be fine if you were only looking to use it for schoolwork. But unless you're getting a high-end laptop, the integrated graphics are terrible. Upping the RAM to 8GB won't make a difference to the quality of the graphics either.
EDIT: Had a look at what Best Buy had to offer. The cheapest laptop in their gaming section is this one which has infinitely better inbuilt graphics. With your budget, you're better off looking at an AMD plus Radeon graphics as these seem to be the cheapest on the market.
You can launch web browsers directed to a URL using a command line call to your OS. This is most likely what is happening, and you are logged into Glyph on your browser, hence why your credentials appear.
see: http://superuser.com/questions/153245/chrome-command-line-arguments-w-url
Other MMOs do similar things. Everquest 2 will actually direct you to the site to subscribe if you exit the game without having a subscription. It's not that unheard of, and it is not at all a trojan or hack. It's just a method to entice you to become a patron. Annoying, yes, but not really unethical.
As for the inability to record, I'm not sure what exactly is going on there, but I do not suspect any foul play there.
One quick note with regards to builds: Patch 1.8 will be making some pretty sweeping changes to the DPS souls and their mechanics which will also impact itemization.
It's tough to be too specific at this point as the changes are still up in the air, although there will definitely be a bigger emphasis on Strength/AP than currently on live. Of course, even so you're still going to want to attempt to get a substantial amount of crit rating. Here's a spreadsheet (obviously not my work but put together by far more knowledgeable members of the community) that will give you some notion of where to start and which pieces give you the most "bang for the buck" early on: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ao-3Oo_BkuPldE5uckdMT3RNV3FmbjdlUGFiQ2VsWmc#gid=0 .
This bad boy with all the thumb buttons keybound to one of your bars, then mouseover macros on that bar. Then you can swap the spells around as you please and have everything available with just your thumb.
I might actually buy one and do this myself.
I had a similarly weird experience with my 955BE rig. The FPS difference between 3.2 and 3.4 GHz was negligible -- I don't think the engine scales very well with Phenom IIs. Your GPU is definitely the bottleneck here, but the CPU isn't all that far away from being one either, which I know is pretty messed up given that a Black Edition Deneb CPU is no slouch. It's no Crysis, but Rift is pretty GPU/CPU intensive when you max out your settings.
If you're hitting low 20s in zone invasions or big rift packs, it's probably worth getting a new video card. You're just going to have an interesting (and pricey) time finding a worthwhile successor for that 4890 -- the thing's a damn workhorse. If you're on a limited budget, I recommend doing the 6950 to 6970 softmod, if you can still find a reference board 6950. As for nVidia, a 560 Ti is the bare minimum you would need for a noticeable performance boost, but a 570 would put you on par with a softmodded Radeon 6950. This is a pretty handy chart, if you haven't already seen it.
Discussed before here as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rift/comments/2fgaxh/rift_nightmare_tide_collectors_edition_breakdowns/
My personal take on it: The $50 edition is pretty good - I'm going to assume the benefits of the $25 version is self evident, so I'd expand on what the $50 edition offers over it instead.
I'm not so sure about that graphics card, Rift is a pretty demanding game. It's possible you could run in on low settings. I've got an old 9800 GTX 512 with a quad core processor and it only gives about 25-30 fps on medium settings. With that graphics card I also wonder what cpu you've got, since that is also very important. Can You Run It is your friend. Obviously, you might want to check the official forum if you haven't done so. Edit: Btw, this is only from playing the Beta. I didn't get the game yet.
From the official rift website:

Also, this is a good resource for figuring out if you're computer can run any type of software
the next time you get one, write it down. The important parts of a bluescreen are the STOP message, the number (which is always 0x00000xxx, so you can shorten it to 0x--, the blanks being the first nonzero digit, for example 0x00000116 would be shortened to 0x116). Also any specific files that the blue screen mentions, typically ending in .dll or .sys.
Windows sometimes creates files called minidumps when it crashes, they're a record of what the bluescreen said. If you got the "send report" dialog when you rebooted, that's an indication that it made one to send to MS. Use a program like BlueScreenView to read the last minidump that you can pinpoint to the last time you tried this. That should give you the error code, stop message, and any files marked as red under it are relevant.
There is an overlay feature in ventrillo: http://www.ventrilo.com/overlay.php
As for a free mumble server, I really don't think anyone is offering such a thing. It makes no sense... you can get free VC with guild hosting etc, but the best approach is to just have some geek type in your guild host it on their private server. If this isn't an option, then there's little you can do, I'm afraid.
One way to increase your bag and character space, get free patron for a month, a free mount (I believe), as well as auction house sell rights, is to go to Amazon.com (I know they have the box there). You can buy the box for about $10 or so, shipping is a little extra, but still well under $15. The patron alone is $15 a month, so the box is definitely a good value. Even better than giveaways, because you get a LOT for that little bit of money.
This yes! Solid state virtually gets rid of those nasty loading screens. Can't tell you how many times I wanted to toss my computer out the window during one of these.
If you want to go the SSD route. I'd recommend a hybrid drive. Half SSD and half HDD. You get the speed of an SDD, and the space of the HDD. Just remember to put your files in the right partitions. The Black2 does this and it's the same price as the EVO, but with 1TB more space.
And since we're talking gear, here are a couple good resources for you to check out:
I ended up buying the original game off an seller on Amazon for $12 total but I didn't even think to search Best Buy and I found Storm Legion for $20 + free shipping. Kicking myself in the butt now.
I have a 1GB GTX 460! and an i7 930 in my desktop, both mildly overclocked, and it runs the game on ultra just fine.
The laethys pack unlocks them and gives both soul bundles. Laethys Pack
Not as cheap as your original post but it's arguably a better all round deal.
Hope that helps
I found this, too, which may have a better graphics card although it still appears to be integrated (or, at least, it doesn't specify whether it is or isn't). Unfortunately the gaming laptop is just out of my available budget although it does look quite spiffy.

There is also a website, but not sure how sketch it is or not.
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/Requirements/rift/11092?p=r
I've used it before but not recently.
There's more than one way, but this one is apparently the easiest route to go. I don't suggest the route I took, basically I climbed sideways across (over) the entrance to Iron Tomb, and then followed the top of the ridge all the way back over. It took me a good hour and a half, plus a death at one point (and having used Agility to get over one of the ridges, getting back to my corpse was awful). I'm thinking of making a novelty toon to put on the roof of merid and stay there.
Laethy's Fortune has been down to $75, so I'm watching for that to happen again over the next 2 weeks.
Typhoon Edition is on sale right now, so I'm probably going to get that when I get home today.
Not sure if they just removed the banner but the page is still there with some keys... I think.
I redeemed a key recently, so there might still be hope.
>I assumed you raided there because you says "entire mmo market", which includes TOR.
So let's take this list here and take all the games that, as you described, people don't play to raid. Then tell me how many of those I should've played to describe Rift as a laughing stock to players who have often played MMOs for 10-15+ years.
> you described it as "extremely successful and widely appreciated" - why is that
I can only speak of what I know. You go dig up any facts and figures you like that show Rift isn't in freefall, I'll show you EA quarterlies that prove SWTOR is successful. Then we can start talking about why threads like this exist here but not the SWTOR subreddit.
After that, I'll pick some game you've never given half a shit about and start harassing you about it. That'll be fun.
Zann just posted a message on Twitter about the shards being relocked. Also forums
Kinda buggy patch, isn't it? At least they are getting this early in the process, so it shouldn't be that bad when the shards are cleared to play.
Oh that's good, I was worried I would have to look for a NA key as all of them say 'EU key'.
I'm from Australia so unfortunately Amazon is out of the picture for me which sucks since that deal seems really awesome.
I'm currently looking at the Rift: Ultimate Edition here which is roughly $14 AUD for me which seems pretty good to me. Apparently it has all the items from both the 'Collectors Edition' and the 'Ashes of History' edition. I don't know what I'm getting with this edition so I'm not sure if it's worth the $14.
Also, is the only difference between the Storm Legion (with base game) and the Original/Collectors/Ultimate the fact you get the Storm Legion Souls? I'm playing a cleric so none of them appeal to me currently (more interested in bag space/mounts at the moment).
Will the bag slots be unlocked for all the new character slots that I will obtain from using the code?
Thanks!
Or, you could go here and buy a Storm Legion key. It's more expensive, but you get the SL souls as well.
I suggest checking this out: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card-game-performance-radeon-hd-6670,2935.html
Toms Hardware does reviews, comparisons, charts, etc of computer components. It is a very popular site.
Here. This is the latest version of the TomsHardwre graphics card comparison. Find the price range for you then see which cards they recommend.
The 5770 has long been known as a great card (performance and value). Great recommendation. But even a 5670 will be a quite noticeable difference over an on-board chip.
Here's theTom's link (they do this every month):
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card-game-performance-radeon-hd-6670,2935.html
I'm removing this because these codes were free to grab for anyone and by attempting to give it away comes off as a cheap ploy to gain viewers/subscribers for your channel. Not only that but they're still available to grab.

Gear will always trump skill in a MMO. If you want a skilled battle ground you have to play something like bloodline champions. Its unfortunate, I was looking forward to some PvP but I just cannot get into it. Where is the fun in losing just because you haven't been lucky enough to have gear drop? Also 20 players seems like too many people in such a small map like Black Garden, if you had 10 players or less, it would make things much less chaotic and more strategic.
You might want to use this quick checker from Gizmodo to see if your info was leaked in one of the LulzSec hacks:
http://gizmodo.com/5812545/find-out-if-your-passwords-were-leaked-by-lulzsec-right-here
Put in email addresses and usernames you used to register for stuff.
In any case, change the password/username/email combination EVERYWHERE. Someone got your password somehow. Also make sure you have a good antivirus that is updated (AVG sucks, download a trial of NOD32 or something) to make sure you don't have a keylogger.
I had a similar issue with the Curse breach a year or two back. I used the same login/password for most of my gaming-related accounts. They got into my old Aion, Warhammer, and Age of Conan accounts over the course of about a month. Fortunately my e-mail password was different, and I was able to quickly go in and reclaim the accounts as my own. I've since started using a different password for actual game accounts and 3rd-party website accounts.
Also, make sure your password is strong and hard to crack, as many of the passwords are actually leaked encrypted. It needs to be long and complex to avoid brute force, and something unique to you to prevent any sort of dictionary attacks. A 4-digit sequence of initials or an acronym unique to me, and then a word in l33t speak is what I use. Something like An38B4c0|| (the word is bacon)
A couple of things...
Hacked accounts are very common in MMO's.
Most of these reviews were published before this past weekend when the biggest security hole was patched.
While Trion addressed their security hole quickly and mentioned it in a message forum post, it's not quite the same as doing a press release.
I doubt you're going to see lots of mentions about it outside of the fan sites and message boards.
I had a similar issue with HoN when at Uni.
I used a mix of http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/ and http://www.proxifier.com/ to get the job done. Though I really can't remember how.
I'll have a scour for the settings on my laptop, but ain't hopeful.
The error message about the DLL is generated from RIFT when it tries to dynamically load the additional DLL's at runtime as they are not statically linked.
I don't know why the install isn't working, I've installed it fine on two Windows 10 computers without issue here. If you post the error message you are getting from dxsetup.exe, perhaps I can help with that.
I created and album showing how the DirectX runtime install process should work, which step is failing for you?
Otherwise, Look for an install log, DXError.log & DirectX.log in your Windows or Windows/logs directory.
As an alternative, you can skip the install and copy the required DLLs from the runtime cab files using 7-zip into the same directory where RIFT is.
Nope, sorry, this just in. From the rift facebook page:
>We will be doing a restart/configuration update this morning about an hour before we go live. That means that people staring at the server select screen (we know who you are and appreciate your excitement) will get booted and the server list will be blank while we restart and re-check the servers. This is normal and the server list will be back by the time we are ready to go live. ^Zann
Something like this:
I feel development is going to grind to a halt, or maybe move away from raiding and PvP entirely. It's already slowed down.
Here's the WoD guide. In case you were wondering if Bradygames was still doing them.
This faq that I created will help answer many, if not all, of your questions. You have many options on what to do, especially once you hit level 10. However, that shouldn't stop you from being able to try various things, such as crafting, if you want to change how you get experience. If you enjoy the game enough to want to invest a little bit of money, then buy the boxed version of the game to gain additional perks. They include a free month of patron, additional character and bag slots, and the ability to sell on the auction house, to name a few perks. Enjoy yourself, the game gives you quite a bit of freedom when it comes to a playstyle.
The boxed version on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/RIFT-Storm-Legion-PC/dp/B004O0U494/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1440604609&sr=8-1&keywords=rift+storm+legion) says:
> A new Soul for each Calling expands the Ascended Class System - build the hero you want!
You're better off buying the Storm Soul Pack (http://www.trionworlds.com/rift/en/store/) if you don't care for a cardboard box for your online game and a vanity item or 2. Access to the Storm Legion and Nightmare Tide zones and all their dungeons and raids is completely free.
You requested a link. Here you go, http://www.amazon.com/Rift-PC/dp/B002I0HIC8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432202705&sr=8-1&keywords=rift
It does take a while to get the earrings. You can't earn the faction until you are able to access the new zones. However, $25 (or less, according to those who use third party sites) will get you the faction, the earring slots, and the ability to wear faction only gear on any toon on your account. I have heard that there are some things that, once ground out on one toon, becomes available account wide, but I can't confirm that. I do understand that not all will be unlocked account wide, and I believe it's the faction and the faction gear.
And I read over what others posted about the best in game gear. I can't confirm, since I've never looked to spend money on gear. And I'm not, by any means, able to access best in game unless it literally drops in my lap. So I could be wrong in saying that you can only get the best in game by playing. However, I still feel that the game is worth the grind, because it's a wide world. You can always mentor down and explore zones you ignored as you went through the game originally.
And looking forward to seeing you in the game, whether in a dungeon, or laughing at me in pvp, or wherever.
This game, correct? I'm assuming there's some sort of registration code that comes with it that you can use to get the benefits?
Before the game went free to play, there were actual hard copies of the game sold. You can still find these on Amazon or Ebay and even sometimes in stores. You can usually get it for around $5 from sellers. Here's an amazon link! http://www.amazon.com/Rift-PC/dp/B002I0HIC8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1428513991&sr=8-1&keywords=rift+game
>why get to "Technical" ?
First off, sorry I offended you, I was just trying to clarify something because some people would read that comment, go out, buy both SL and RIFT, and possibly come back with a code they can't use, because they have two base RIFT keys. I didn't mean "this dumb fuck is all wrong", I just wanted to show there's more than just the two boxes (Base and SL), and their collectors versions. I wasn't being technical, again, sorry if that's the way it came off to you.
Carrying on, here is the box I was talking about, it's the "standard" version. The physical copy is available worldwide, the downloadable versions are only available in the US. That link also has the expansion only "big ass banner" box art on the respective box. Why the ones you linked didn't, I have no idea. I'd personally blame lazy sales-people just googling and using the first box art they see, even if that's not actually the one that goes with that CD in particular. It's still Storm Legion as far as they're concerned, and it's not a collectors version. Maybe the banner is only on US copies, maybe that doesn't show up on the physical box, again, I have no idea. I just know that was the first link I found, and the expansion only box was appropriately labeled as such.
Either way, the non-expansion only copies in that link say in the description that "This massive edition includes the RIFT base game-" and that's where I was coming from. If you wanna argue that I'm still a dick because the boxes contain base RIFT, and that it's still base RIFT that gives you the character/bag slots, fine, I should have been more clear and just said box(es) where I said CD(s). Again, my point was that you could go out and pick up "Storm Legion" box and still get the benefits from both CDs.
These aren't worth it. Sub is $15 a month through their website or even cheaper via in game methods (buying lots of credits will bring the patron costs down) although if you never purchased the original rift this is quite a deal and comes with a month of patron time for $11.35 (plus 5 bag slots on all toons and 6 character slots) --> http://www.amazon.com/Rift-PC/dp/B002I0HIC8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385921657&sr=8-1&keywords=rift
The only real tip I can give you to start is if you plan on playing to max level buy the game from amazon instead of buying bag slots/character slots from the rift store. That way the only thing you'd actually need to buy to unlock the full game is in the Rift Store -> Services -> Storm Legion Souls. This unlocks the 4 souls from the expansion, 1 for each class. The mage one is really helpful for leveling.
Benefits you get by purchasing the original game box from amazon:
You need to buy the physical copy and wait for it to show up from here --> http://www.amazon.com/Rift-PC/dp/B002I0HIC8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385753547&sr=8-1&keywords=rift
Then log into your account on riftgame.com and apply the code.
You can grab rift on Amazon for about $9 USD (free shipping). So, I wouldn't pay much more than that. You'll get the additional bag slots as well as character slots. Keep in mind, the last two bag slots can only be unlocked with credits.
http://www.amazon.com/Rift-Pc/dp/B002I0HIC8/
On the other hand, Storm Legion will only get you the new souls, nothing else. If you are a patron, Storm Legion costs 3,150 credits. You can get 3,250 credits for $20. Last I checked, actual boxes of SL were going for about $20, but they've been pulled from Amazon. It might be more worth your time to unlocked it through credits, you'll have some left over credits and a nice bonus of loyalty.
Hey mate, Since you know to know about this could you tell me what would I get if I bought this base game please?
Didn't mean to cause any confusion.
Crazy Best Buy.
http://www.ebgames.ca/pc/rift-60-day-game-time-card/308889
The cards I have say $30 right on the package. Are you sure those $15 ones are are 60 day not 30 day? Even in game direct purchase in Rift charges more than $15 for 60 days.
Would purchasing this before the switch unlock the six slots or is that essentially just the client on disc?
So you are saying if I buy this it will unlock extra character slots for shards and all my characters will get more bag slots?
http://www.amazon.com/Rift-Pc/dp/B002I0HIC8
$20.00 on Amazon, but I'm not sure if that comes with game time. As for a starting build, clerics and rogues can solo level with very little downtime. Check the forums at forums.riftgame.com and go to the class section to find something to your liking. Have fun in Telara!
Seems to still be $10 on Amazon, appears to be through a third party but he looks like he has a lot of good reviews.
$9.99 + $3.99 S&H for retail box at Amazon link - Same (total) price if you want to skip the box, go digital and play immediately.
$34.25 + $3.99 S&H for Collector's Edition goodies.
Third-party seller (knight discounts) with good feedback. I think I've ordered from them in the past. Both include 30-days gametime.
Gamestop's sale prices are everyone else's regular prices. Buy it from Amazon, get the code instantly, and play for a month for ($8). In a month you'll know whether you want to continue your subscription or not.
Don't see many laptops in here. I bought an Acer TimelineX 4820TG-6847 two weeks a go and have been nothing but pleased with the performance so far. I haven't turned on a framerate display but other than very brief rare dips in rifts I have a stable framerate on ultra.
Specs: i5 480m Radeon 6550m 4GB DDR3
I really recommend this computer if anyone's looking for a good, portable, and fairly inexpensive gaming laptop. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-TimelineX-AS4820TG-6847-14-Inch-Aluminum/dp/B004G6005Y/

With it being android, you might be able to get the Chrome Remote Desktop.
Here's the Google Play link for the tablet. I'd check with your IT/networking guys before installing it - but you can also use your phone too if you have that out in the field.
Luckily with the "sorry" package they had today, it'll save you a couple days (it came with 5 tokens), so you won't be too far behind on tokens!
