I'm an adult woman with small feet and as such can wear kid shoes. Last night I was wearing my light up unicorn high tops (like these ones but in grey) . As I walked by a family I heard the little girl gasp to her mom, "Is that a grown up wearing light up shoes?!" Well first of all I resent your assumption that I'm grown up, but yes, I am living the dream.
A bone saw is basically just the standard saw you picture when someone says saw. Handle, rectangle blade with pointy teeth.
The Flashpoint paradox is one of the best animated films I have seen. Martha doesn't have a ton of screen time, but the introduction of her as the joker is great. Shows the alley scene, but with Bruce getting gunned down. Martha sobs over Bruce's body, and as Thomas Wayne tries to pull her away, she turns with a crazy laugh, and Bruce's blood has left the joker smile on her face.
Don't troll him. The obvious way to record the audio is tape cassette. Then you play the video when the powerpoint is running.
Pro Tip: Remember to rewind so it's ready for next viewing.
[retired educator here] Both parenting and teaching have the same overriding goal of preparing kids to function without them, to be increasingly more independent. Without homework, there isn't enough time for students to practice (on their own) what they've learned in the classroom, or, if in a "flipped classroom" prepare ahead for the next lesson.
Imagine the imbalance of classroom time vs. the amount of information to learn -- teachers cannot just open kids' heads and pour in the facts. Learning is a complex mental task. In order to learn, students need to hear, see, experience, and process the new information, make connections to previously-mastered information, then take further steps advancing to the next level by interacting with the new knowledge with guidance first, and finally, independently. This takes time as well as effort on everyone's part.
Good teachers do their best to foster as many of these steps in the learning process as possible in 60- to 90-minute lessons. They present the new information, help make connections to previously-learned lessons, and provide an activity in which the students can put the new material into practice with the teacher present to guide them -- but processing the lesson fully requires each student to practice independent work without the teacher beside them. This is where their deepest learning is experienced. Also, this a true assessment of how well they've learned it.
Homework shouldn't be "busy work" but should be practice and application of new skills & knowledge, or it should be undistracted time to be introduced to a new topic as preparation for the next in-class lesson.

Dehydration isn't even the leading cause of dry skin...
Edit: ok, a lot of "Reddit wisdom" below. Dehydration means that your body doesn't have enough water overall. That is quite severe and happens rarely, and it's not the main cause of dry skin. The main causes of dry skin are environmental. The skin dries out mostly from the outside, even if your body has plenty of water overall. That's why dry skin is more common in winter than in summer, even though dehydration is much less common in winter. And that's why you treat dry skin by keeping or restoring a protective layer of oil on the skin (with oils or creams or just avoiding excessive washing).

True enough but really I am speaking from personal experience. I live in Arkansas, there are some neighbors near me who fly this proudly, live in trailers, and are meth heads. Recently one of their trailers burned to the ground killing the mother of one of them who was in a wheelchair. It was a meth-caused fire.
I drove by the place (it's near where I hike). The yard is full of trash, the remains of the burned-out mobile home haven't moved and they are living in tents in the yard next to the discarded appliances. Nothing has been cleaned up. They did however get a new Fuck Biden flag. I see things like this daily. While you are correct that there is some stereotyping going on, I must plead personal experience as a justification for my post.

To be fair, the only reason US had such great conditions and decent lives and opportunities for many decades after WWII was because of USSR. After that ended, rampant capitalism took form which is how we ended up here, at the devil's asshole of oligarchic manipulation. That and neoliberal fantasists didn't help much.

> Paul Krugman and other mainstream trade experts are now admitting that they were wrong about globalization: It hurt American workers far more than they thought it would.
> “Silly” was a word Krugman used a lot to describe pundits who raised fears of economic competition from other nations, especially China. Don’t worry about it, he said: Free trade will have only minor impact on your prosperity.
> In a recent essay titled “What Economists (Including Me) Got Wrong About Globalization,” adapted from a forthcoming book on inequality, Krugman writes that he and other mainstream economists “missed a crucial part of the story” in failing to realize that globalization would lead to “hyperglobalization” and huge economic and social upheaval, particularly of the industrial middle class in America. And many of these working-class communities have been hit hard by Chinese competition, which economists made a “major mistake” in underestimating, Krugman says.
> quite a “whoops” moment, considering all the ruined American communities and displaced millions of workers we’ve seen in the interim. And a newly humbled Krugman must consider an even more disturbing idea: Did he and other mainstream economists help put a protectionist populist, Donald Trump, in the White House with a lot of bad advice about free markets?

Most pet allergies are due to dander, saliva, and urine. So if the person is not in near or direct contact with the dog, they should be fine. The airline could move the person away from the dog, and a courteous owner would thoroughly wash the dog before the flight.
The symptoms of a pet allergy don't ever get that serious, except that it can trigger an asthmatic response. Breathing is important, so they can get serious, but interventions are simple.
I'd be more worried for the person who is afraid of dogs than the person who is allergic to them.

A lot of the times it's not actually willful.
Studies have shown that we avoid the discomfort of cognitive dissonance when possible. The more invested you are in a particular belief, the harder it is to change that belief, even when confronted with overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
I was listening to a podcast the other day and heard a great example for the situation: suppose you consider yourself to be an environmentalist. You work at a corporation and discover that your company dumps millions of tons of pollutants into waterways every year. If you are not very invested in your job, you might take this as an opportunity to live and get a job elsewhere. If you're more highly invested in your job, you might downplay the negative effects and continue working there because you love the office dynamic. You might say, "yes, this company pollutes, but they're not as bad as X Corp. which dumps billions of tons of pollutants." Or you might decide you're not that attached to your identity as an environmental advocate.
All of the information is the same, but the outcomes are different and are affected by what psychologists refer to as resistance to change.
Confronted with the same information, people will react differently to minimize their own discomfort.

I mean, it was also the term for humans for a long time, it's only recently that Intersex has become the preferred nomenclature.
Here's a good article laying out the arguments for creating a new taxonomic hypernym for humans.
Yes, a Wikipedia article defining a sociological term is going to reference sources written by sociologists, who already have a baseline understanding that different genders are treated differently in modern society, and then they go forward to discuss those differences in academic papers. They're not throwing "patriarchy" around as a buzzword. They're discussing it within the context of "Masculinities in Contemporary American Culture: An Intersectional Approach to the Complexities and Challenges of Male Identity" (where that article was published)
Also a general definition of privilege: a special advantage or authority possessed by a particular person or group (Cambridge Dictionary). Or: a right or immunity granted as a peculiar benefit, advantage, or favor (Merriam-Webster). So I fail to see how how many men there are has anything to do with how much privilege they have. Or do you have a problem with those sources too?
Discussions about privilege are not supposed to be the end of the discussion. It's the very first step. But if you can't even accept that privilege exists, then there is absolutely no point.
It seems that when 'crime goes down' some stakeholders start to search for 'good reasons' for that. Unreported crimes are a good scapegoat. There's a lot a shady semantics in police reporting.
> The paper examines the issue of widespread underreporting of crimes in the Volgograd region of Russia. The factors of public satisfaction with police, prior observed police misconduct, type of crime, and victim’s demographics are used to explain a victim’s decision to report crimes to the police.
I don't know if one would come to the same conclusion in the USA but might be a starting point to find some reasons.
Because active cases would align with the statement of how many cases they have. Just quoting "new Cases" doesn't take into account there can be lags in reporting due to weekends and holidays. For NZ there were 132 new cases yesterday. The site (http://www.worldometers.info) doesn't have new case info listed for yesterday for the UK or the USA (where I am).

Actually, the US has the worst rate of maternal deaths of the developed world.. literally the title of this NPR article, which I also heard about on the radio a few months ago :( Most of the issue, according to the report on the radio, is from after birth complications and lack of instruction to women about the warning signs - and even doctor's dismissing them.
Thanks for the kind words. Men and women conforming to traditional gender roles in the US have different styles of speaking. One of those differences is that when men are emphasizing a point, they will tend to be louder. When women are emphasizing a point, they will tend to raise their pitch (sounding higher) rather than volume.
Another way men and women speak differently is men use chest resonance while women use more throat and mouth resonance. This is harder to articulate, but you know how in some bathrooms you can sing a note and suddenly it sounds louder than you are actually singing it? That's because you found a resonant frequency that just happens to match the physics of the dimensions of that space. The same thing can happen inside your mouth or chest cavity, or throat. Few of us are directly taught how to do these things, they are just demonstrated, and we try to sound right to be understood, and instinctually learn how to do them. Just like the perfect adjective order.
If I remember correctly, the OP did have some mental health issues, but nothing too extreme. This probably exaggerated the effects of CO. But CO does not just make you feel light-headed and go to sleep. 100% of people certainly do not just get light-headed and fall asleep. That is simply not true.

Yes, but you're starting from the specific western concept and translating to something that doesn't exist in Asian languages - It's going to default to the closest definition. For instance, the entries you provided, like 白羊宮, literally translates into temple of the white ram. Now maybe that's how you would refer to the zodiac sign of Aries (I wouldn't know, again it's not a used term) but 羊 is the only character in his tattoo, and on its own means a general term for goat, sheep, or ram.

Because you live in a desert and it dries out your skin you're now convinced that proves dehydration is the main cause of skin dryness? That's funny.
Dehydration is when your body loses water overall. Dry skin happens when your skin is dry, which is generally unrelated to how much total water you have in your body. And the common treatment for dry skin is to use oily substances on the skin, not to drink more water.

Which state are you in mate? Jobs are actually really plentiful right now and hopefully you've got access to vaccinations for you both. One thing I can recommend is p100 respirators to really not be taking chances with your wife's health. I have lung issues myself which has complicated things similarly for us. Biden signed an executive order which states that leaving your job for fear of covid qualifies you for UI and we took full advantage of that even before he did that which was a bit of a gamble admittedly. Made so much off the expanded UI benefits and my fiance put it all our capital in a webull account and made a decent income from really safe options trading. That's ballooned to day trader status because we've kept pouring all the incoming capital into while living on my good credit since our complex started waiving the fee for paying rent with credit. Ate a thing of Samyang 2x Spicy ramen for lunch today.
I was actually disappointed, it's just meant to be hot, no actual flavor. Just tastes like very hot plain noodles.
Had some really great spicy basil rice from a Thai place near my house last week that blew these noodles out of the water for both flavor and spiciness.

To add to this: I got mine on Amazon for $14.99. I was getting terrible headaches every other day from eye strain. Haven’t had one since. Just make sure the magnification is 0.00x unless you want/need reading glasses.
I agree they're not there by accident. Most of them know how to work hard and work smart. But even with that you need to be in the right place at the right time. It's not something you can generate. Malcolm Gladwell does a great job explaining this in his book "Outliers". I highly recommend this book.

So yes. The expense of healthcare in the us is more obvious than in some other countries. But the outcome is some of, if not the, best.
I don't know of many schizophrenic toddlers since schizophrenia is a disease that follows the diathesis-stress model and typically presents in late adolescence to middle age.

It is more common than one might think, and not relegated only to developing countries: https://www.npr.org/2017/05/12/528098789/u-s-has-the-worst-rate-of-maternal-deaths-in-the-developed-world
Yes, if there are complications and risks the doctor will do what they can to save the mother (and child if possible) but there are still instances where this is the unfortunate outcome.
I believe protonmail (encrypted email service) has a VPN to use (here: https://protonvpn.com/?utm_campaign=ww-all-2a-vpn-int_site-g_acq-products_links&utm_source=protonmail.com&utm_medium=link&utm_content=header_menu&utm_term=vpn ) , but I have not personally used. It probably wouldn't be bad to look into.
This raises an interesting question: what about people who were molested by someone of the opposite sex?
Also, I actually wrote a seminar paper on homosexuality in Japanese Buddhism, as part of my East Asian studies. It was supposed to be no longer than 25 pages, but I seriously went overboard and it wound up being a few pages more, plus about 8 pages of bibliography. You can read it here if you’re interested (and can read Hebrew). (I might translate it at some point though.)
One of my main points in this paper was that the infamous culture of child abuse in Japan started because it was too far away and too mountainous to maintain a proper ordination system, leading to all sorts of questionable characters joining temples and monasteries, and considering the high correlation between nasty stuff like ASPD and child sexual abuse, it led to children being frequently molested. Seeing as there is also a high correlation between being a victim in the past and a perpetrator in the future (obviously not complete, but still high, especially back when there weren’t the avenues for intervention we have today), it also goes to show how this system could perpetuate itself for so long. This thesis is very much at odds with what plenty of other writers wrote, namely that it had to do with cultural conceptions regarding the ideal object of sexual desire, which I think is bullshit—if anything, it blatantly reverses cause and effect.
> You won't see CNN call them "illegal" and you won't see FOX call them "undocumented."

This is a pretty awful argument.
Here's a list of free, online math textbooks ranging from Algebra 1 all the way up to Masters-level classes. I guess we don't need to teach math in school anymore.
Wikipedia has anything that'll be in a history book and more. Guess history classes aren't needed anymore.
Here's a free online English grammar book, can cut English classes out of school now.

FTC investigated them over possible information breaches or unapproved selling in 2019(you have to opt in to give your info to anyone or anything, even have the option to destroy all your info both physically and digitally). They were found to not be breaking their privacy agreement and nothing was going out unapproved to any other parties.

"23andMe will not sell, lease, or rent your individual-level information to a third party for research purposes without your explicit consent."
"If you choose to consent to participate in 23andMe Research, 23andMe researchers can include your de-identified Genetic Information and Self-Reported Information in a large pool of customer data for analyses aimed at making scientific discoveries."
"We and our third party service providers will not use your Sensitive Information, such as Genetic Information and Self-Reported Information, for targeted marketing without asking for and receiving your explicit consent."
23andMe is the most secure of the genetics testing groups, and literally everything regarding info being shared to anyone besides you needs your explicit approval. Hell if you're uncomfortable you can ask them to destroy all the testing info and the sample at any point. They might "own" it as you say, but you're the final word on what happens to it.
They partnered with a service to help find health issues with the tests, but its the same privacy policy and they (with 81% of ownership) still won't share it even with your own doctor unless you say so.
If you're so concerned, then just don't use them. They've been investigated a multitude of times, even have an independent group do inspections and improve their digital security. They won't suddenly say that "oops sorry you gave us the sample you can't request it destroyed lel."
> Wierd name meaning
Historically, surnames evolved as a way to sort people into groups - by occupation, place of origin, clan affiliation, patronage, parentage, adoption, and even physical characteristics (like red hair). Many of the modern surnames in the dictionary can be traced back to Britain and Ireland.
I wonder what folks could have been trying to say about your ancestors by calling them "wierd", an obsolete spelling of "weird". Real head scratcher, that.
We are using the word poverty in different ways. Poverty is the lack of means to provide needs and wants of life. Hunter-gatherers lacked easy means to food. That’s poverty.
