Supposedly they're going to have a reveal tomorrow about what Elite will actually entail. WSJ might be a decent publication on the outside, that doesn't mean they aren't wrong here. I'd wait for an actual announcement from the devs before getting into a tizzy over it.
Bowling just tweeted that the mp will remain free to play. Elite will be free for all players but will contain some paid features. What I imagine they will try to do is make it so you subscribe for future map releases. Which, for the kind of person who plays the game long enough to get all the map packs, might be worth it depending on price. At any rate, all of this is conjecture until they actually come out with more info.
Really? Because it seems like it took them almost two weeks to get the service back up a few years ago when XBL had outages.
I disagree >to perform under pressure
>In the last few seconds of a close game, only a player with clutch can lead the team to victory.
Regular weapons do absolutely nothing to George. The water calms him down but it also heals him completely. The ray gun does damage and perhaps other super weapons might as well. Maybe Pack A Punch a super weapon to finish him? Speaking of which, Pack A Punch machines randomly appear and disappear. A good place to make some money is right in front of the lighthouse after you clear the debris to access the MP5. The catapult on the ship is pressure sensitive once you activate the power. There is, however, a 2 second delay. Aside from that, there is a rumor that George can only take a certain amount of damage per round.
EDIT: This gamefaqs thread is also a good read, if you can bear the grammar and the stupid signatures....

I didn't mean to misread you... I thought your post was trying to ding him for using Reddit to launch his career. My mistake.
Ps, I won't pay for elite either. Relevant
You're not being a douche. What experience did you have?
> can easily be that level...
Yes, I know there are legit 14's and he can be a legit 14, but I'n my uneducated opinion, it smells fishy to me. He easily could have done something in the begining, or recently, that caused a 48 hour and downgrade.
> they have been a bit shit with the banhammer
I've heard complaints about a day when they did a carpet ban and got some wrong people, but I haven't heard much griping since then and it was reversed within 12 hours.
> what evidence exactly do you have?
Um, not really sure why I need to have evidence. Treyarch has said that stopping cheaters is going to be one of their number 1 priorities because it had ruined MW2.
http://www.nowgamer.com/news/4148/treyarch-cheating-has-diminished-cods-reputation.
Also, just google "treyarch ban" and look at all the forums. It's not about people saying they have been unjustly banned, it's people bitching about the fact they got caught.
Hell, half of them are trying to figure out how they got caught and come up with remedies.
So far, they have figured out that they are including things like rounds fired, distance traveled, heat spots, etc. Trey is taking it seriously.
Then look at the people who claim they did nothing wrong. Half of them are claiming to be innocent, mean while they've been posting shit about glitching the month before.
It could be something else entirely, though. What's the penalty for an inapproriate gametag or harassment?
First off, I couldn't QS if my (real) life depended on it, and I'm in the "don't really care about the topic" camp.
Having said that, the first three arguments don't, necessarily, contradict each other.
The "luck" of QSing is the reason some think it's too easy. If a QS gets one "lucky" shot off in a head-to-head confrontation, they will beat any AR or SMG in the game due to the 1 hit kill property of most sniper rifles. This was definitely worse in MW2, and the adjustments made by Treyarch have balanced QSing pretty well.
Argument 3 is a bit off. It's not because QS is too difficult that it negatively affects the team, it's that the total number of kills (in TDM) will be low because most people aren't very good at it. In objective games, the problem is that these "try-hards" will continually try to QS instead of doing their job of taking/protecting the objective - to the point of losing matches (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep_oGMjhKYs for example, which was the subject of another reddit thread a couple of days ago). So, it's not that it's "too difficult" per se, it's that few people are actually good enough at it to benefit their teams.
People who use Arguments 4 or 5 need to find a different game to play if they want realism. Or, they need to join the Marines.
Argument 6 is the reason most people whine about QSing. In fact, it's the reason most people whine about most things in COD - f'ing knifers, f'ing tomahawkers, f'ing campers, f-ing RC-XDers, f'ing noob tubers, etc. It's easier on the ego to believe that the guy owning you is somehow cheating or taking the "easy" route. It makes you feel morally superior even while you're losing.
From a gamefaqs thread:
"It has nothing to do with anatomy. Bones are slang for the lines that make up the body of characters. You know those images you see of characters being designed with lines going up and down heir legs, body, and arms? Those are the bones.
It's basically saying that something spawned with either too many bones or too few bones to animate properly. In the case of a turret, this would mean that it wouldn't be able to rotate around, stand up, or spin its barrels.
In the case of a character, it means that the animations would be screwed up as the computer isn't programmed to handle animations for more then a predetermined set of bones."
Grab yourself a good but inexpensive monitor like this one here and set it up in your office or bedroom. Pair it with a nice pair of headphones to stay out of the way of your kids while playing in peace. Granted I don't know if it'll fly in your house but it's worth giving you the suggestion.

This is a turtle beach. Gaming headphones, you hear so much more in the game, they really make a difference. I use the X11, kinda of a mess of cords but they don't bother me. See also: Sound Whoring
I was asked about the future of YouTube and video game commentary. My response raised an eyebrow or two because in my way of thinking, CoD won't be king of the hill forever. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized I should organize my thoughts and put them into a format that makes some sort of sense. So this will be part 1 of 3. (Actually, this may be a sort of 'living' mini-series. I may update part one. After I was done recording it, I thought of more stuff to put into it. We'll see what time allows for.) I'm hoping we can have a fairly intelligent conversation about it here on /r/codbo. I would love to get your input.
DISCLAIMER: I don't have any inside info. All my research comes from public sources (ie. The internet, Google, Activision website, etc). Also, I'm a HUGE fan of CoD. I would really like to see Sledgehammer's CoD title be a great game because I've been playing CoD titles since the first one on PC. I just happen to think that change is in the air. And I think that competition is a good thing.
Shotgun Loadout Poll: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/shotgun
Thats the idea :P Then there is always the steam sales. I spent around 90 dollars on 12 games!!! One of us one of us.
My computer cost 827 before monitor, ssd, mouse/keyboard and that was with me missing a 20 dollar rebate plus I have a better cpu cooler on it.
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12240654
835 after shipping and has $40 in rebates plus a 10 dollar newegg gift card. so $795 and a 10 dollar GC. This is also not the cheapest it could go I put a 6950 in the build mine only has 5850 :( .
Omg I checked out 5850's and there is a great deal atm. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150477 $210 before anything then 10% off coupon bringing it to $190 then 30 dollar rebate bringing it to $160 then a $15 dollar gift card bringing it to $145!!!!!!!!!
Essentially you could turn that $785 computer into a $650 dollar computer. I wish newegg would give you referral cash for selling their shit for them lol
I found a post with some data as well. The second post has weapon damages, though it's the maximum base(legshots(?), all ammo used) and the maximum multiplied(headshots, all ammo used). It's a bit confusing, I had to read it a few times to understand.
This was pretty solid all-around. The biggest detractor from making it work is the ACOG. High recoil + SMG = bad idea to use ACOG. But hey...you guys voted for it.
Assault rifle class poll here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BLOPSAR
-Maq had to go to bed. It got pretty late and she was sleepy. She'll be back for more.
-You'll see plenty of [rddt] clan tags in the game play. You guys make it easy for me to do work with the wacky loadouts. And it's way too much fun pub-stomping with you!
-Not sure what happened to the game audio. I'll figure it out for the next vid.
-And the shotgun poll is up: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/shotgun
She's never played any COD titles.....obviously. I'll have to work on the audio levels if we decide to do it again. She had a blast.
I'm thinking I'll post another vid with my usual commentary about the entire loadout if there's enough interest.
And feel free to troll me for the assault rifle class: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/F3PJ5NZ
I have to say I f*cking love the PSG1 sniper rifle. I watched a video a few weeks ago where the guy showed that if you don't use any attachments that its a one hit kill. So long as you don't hit them in the legs it's true. It only hold 5 rounds, but its so much easier then the L96A1 because it's semi-automatic.
I'm routinely beasting with:
Grip and RapidF is beastly, but you lose slight of hand. I've been using it without grip and I'm just as good now, especially since I usually go for up close kills. I also use the Spectre and MPL with R/F and Scav and SoH and those guns are as steady as the AKU with grip, IMHO.
I see several responses advising you to mute - which I 100% support. The second someone starts being a dick I hit mute.
But here is the Pro Tip (am I doing this right?) - stop playing with randoms. Simple as that. Add a bunch of redditors to your friends list and you will find you can usually get in a game with a good team.
Head on over to heyyoudontsaythat's thread and you will find a good starter list. Or you can try the find other players spreadsheet over in the sidebar ---->
EDIT: Apparently in this post Vahn claims that there is no invincibility time when dropping into second chance. I'm guess it must be issues with the hit detection during the animation.
I asked this same question over in the MW2 sub back before we bought the Black Ops beta game.
Common consensus over there seemed to be centered on Hauppauge.
Incidentally, Newegg has them for $189.99.
If I ever get around to buying one (I won't. I'm waiting for someone to decide they just have to hear my commentaries to buy one for me), that's the one I'd go with.
This just gets sadder and sadder.
Camper. That guy in that window, in that building, up the stairs with a motion detector and a silenced galil... picking your team off one by one, then moving behind that position waiting for you guys to storm the room... and after you've flashed the empty room and stormed in gun blazing... the camper comes up from behind, to F you in the A.
I'm that guy... earning my SR71.
Awesome. Will add you tonight. Also, as DJGibbon mentioned, have a look at http://bit.ly/cSabbT (With filters set: PS3, GMT +0).
MW3 looks like it has splitscreen. in a video that gamespot posted you can see the option to "press A for player 2 to join" Here at about the 24:30 mark
Now might be a good time to mention Urban Terror. A very fun and fast paced FPS game. If you liked the old SoF2 online, then you will almost certainly love UT. Did I mention it's a FREE game?
This is what im up to so far http://tinypic.com/r/hs1094/7
Only used 9 layers, so when i get enough points will improve it with the remaining layers. Basically used the drop, circle and oval shapes.
Very easy to fix. I've fixed about 10 RRODs so far. Here's the video I follow. Works like a charm. Parts here add up to $6.49. The part where you overheat it takes about 3-5 minutes for it to do the double blink. Biggest pain out of this process is cleaning the CPU and GPU.
Basically the reason this works is that what causes the RROD is the GPU slightly lifting out of the motherboard and causing the hardware failure. With this fix method you basically overheat it so that solder is hot enough to pretty much push the GPU back into the motherboard and allow it to work properly. With it being changed over to screws it keeps it from lifting back up.
I believe this is what I used.
Once you get going, and get passed all the shit that website is trying to peddle, the instructions are all there. The key is to get the good thermal paste too. Radio Shack has the silver compound paste. I'd use that.
Freaking ShuttledockChamp nsfw! I'm not sure if that's the exact definition or not, as I've seen a few variations.
It's always a blast playing with you and Dippin'!
The process is different depending on your router make and model. Tomato is probably a bit more user-friendly: http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato Here's DD-WRT: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index
Both sites have detailed documentation and should be able to step you through the process.
Works perfectly for me (Chrome 10.0.634.0). This may be of help to you, especially this particular file. Wouldn't be too hard to hack that up to generate to a file, instead of passing it on to the user.
This class was pretty tough. I picked a Hardcore mode gameplay because it seems to be the best way to use a 'nerfed' FN-FAL.
Also, I tried something a bid different w/the editing. Let me know if you like it or don't care for it.
Oh, and vote for the Boomstick class: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BOOMSTICK
Hey guys, I'm out of town for the weekend, so I wanted to get this up before I left civilization for the woods.
Sniper class survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SNIPER
Now to clarify, you can troll me on this loadout or you can pick something useful. It's totally up to you. I'll make the best of whatever you guys pick. So feel free to pick something YOU want to see.
I recently had several of my original MS batteries fail to take a charge any longer, probably a battery memory issue, so I picked up 2 Charge bases
They work great and I no longer need to worry about the play and charge cable (since my 360 is about 8 feet off the ground)
Is a bluetooth headset really a bad idea? I can't spend £30 on a headset TBH, this is going for £10 on amazon, has anyone used it?
Ive got the new model xbox 360 controller the thumbsticks down really wear out and seem a little bit stiffer than the regular controller
You would either need video capture hardware or you would need to upload multiple 30 second clips to youtube then edit them together using YouTube's Editor.
I guess a big part of it was that my rechargeable batteries were those cheap ones they have near the register. I also use to always have vibration on my controller on which definitely ate up battery power too. I just ordered some of These. I'm hoping good things.
Hey, my other friend likes this one ($42). I'm happy with wired, but whatever floats your boat.
I got mine at Amazon for $29 Ultimate Edition
Steeep learning curve, but more rewarding like MW2 (You can also buy all the guns and stuff for 1200 MS points). I like it so far, I just wish there was more than 2 game styles. Basically Demo and Dom.
I use a Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse like this one here
I found it a year or so ago at Walmart for clearance price of $40. It has the weights you can add to it underneath, and all the buttons are programmable if you so choose.
I don't know if it's just the mouse, or me just being used to it, but I love that damn thing, it's crazy precise and has a good weight to it. Adjustable weight, that is.
Pick one up if you can pay less than the $189.99 it's going for on Amazon. There's a newer model that has another button by the thumb, but any of these are great for FPS gaming.
I also rock a Nostromo N52 programmable keypad. Can't give that thing enough props. Been using it and its predecessors since the Counter Strike 1.6 days. Especially great for games where you can't change the keys (like Transformers.) PM me if you're curious about it, but if you do pick one up, try to find an N52 over the N52TE. The older N52 used different and superior programming software, where the hardware on the N52TE is better. Folks have done a full swap too.
I do not have a headset, but rather, I have a pair of Koss KSC75 headphones hooked directly to the audio output of my PS3 using old computer speakers for volume control/amplification.
It's not nearly as good as x11s or Astros (no mic obviously), but I can pick up a lot of sounds that I previously missed, I have some ability to position enemies through sound and it only cost me $20 for the headphones (which I use for other things) and $5 for a RCA audio to 3.5 stereo cable.
