You may consider getting a manual drip (sometimes called a pour over, I think), to keep peace in your household. You put the coffee grinds in and pour hot water (we just microwave 1 cup at 2.5 minutes) over the grinds. In about 2 minutes you have hot, fresh coffee. You don't have to use a paper filter (but you might want to, otherwise there's a bit of coffee silt at the bottom - it's a very small amount but it probably would bother some people).

The coffee's really good, and you can use as many grounds as you want to make it as strong as you want. I usually use 1 standard scoop like what comes with a preground tin of coffee. Good luck with your caffeine adventures!

This sounds like you don't have the right combination of bugs in your gut (the gut biome). I second what everyone else is saying around here. I was not too excited about college, I was a loner, didn't really put much effort into picking a school, and hated most of undergrad. Still, towards the end, classes got smaller and smaller, and I was around more people like me (in electrical engineering). Even then, I became involved with research, talking to maybe 5 highly intelligent and socially awkward people daily. I'm working on a PhD now, and I pretty much interact with a bubble of interesting and very intelligent people.

As much as I hated undergrad it was a stepping stone to a better life. I was forced to work odd jobs all through public school and every summer and there was nothing I hated more. College is also nothing like highschool.

But anyway, unless you've tried out both places, you don't really know. I suffer to this day from social anxiety (which used to be so debilitating I'd get panic attacks) but now I TA classes and give presentations in front of large groups of people. I had horrible depression through undergrad but gradually I was able to put myself in a better place, and I got better.

That drawing isn't nearly as horrible as you seem to think it is. Drawing human faces is one of the toughest tasks for any aspiring artist, so there is no need to beat yourself up about it.

I would get a copy of a book called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. It will teach you how to break down a face (or anything else) into a series of shapes that you can then draw without distortion.

The first thing the author does is have you draw a portrait upside-down. For most people this comes out a lot better than the right-side-up attempts, which proves to students that they can in fact draw, there's just something standing in their way. (Spoiler: It's the specialized part of the brain that recognizes that a collection of shapes as a face, and keeps you from seeing the individual shapes, thereby sabotaging your attempts to draw them. Drawing upside-down prevents this.) Then she teaches you how to see and draw the shapes without having to draw things upside-down.

They have people on there who are trained to help you, and it has people with specific mental health disorders who can support you and make you feel like you're not alone. If you are unable to stream from Nick Jr's website, then you can try out this little gem to get every episode of every show, including Paw Patrol, and movie the day they premier. If your ISP restricts it you can use a VPN, but it's worth it if you have kids. If you don't have an android TV or some Firestick equivalent (that doesn't have Kodi) you can plug an old laptop into your TV with an HDMI cable (which is what we do); there isn't any apps for other OS, just Android and Windows, It is free and it's very simple to use and navigate (Kodi is so complicated sometimes).

You know what you need to do. Quit drugs. The best way to get rid of a bad habit is to replace it with another habit. Personally I would recommend that you replace it with fitness but ultimately it is up to you. Go read The Power of Habit. It explains how habits work, how it is formed and gives you an easy way of changing it.

Here's my take on it: you're basically having a fantasy supplied by your ego, the part of you that wants to feel like you are 100% in control, the part of you wants to reflexively, unconsciously, grasp for pleasure and avoid pain. It's totally understandable, happens to everyone. Mental health is a spectrum that on the worse side, is getting fixated and completely identifying with the illusory self/ego, egomaniacs who simply act to maximize pleasure and identify themselves with the power that they have to obtain that pleasure.

The thing is most people who grow up in loving and supportive environments also have a strong sense of empathy or compassion.

The good news is that you can actually increase experiences of selfLESS love, decrease unwholesome fantasies like this, by yourself, without seeing a therapist.

A technique called metta meditation might help you experience why this fantasy should bother you more than because of fearing jail. It's actually a very powerful technique to develop a deeper sense of kindness for all living beings, and it's a completely rational way to do it. Side effect: It also will make you happier by feeling more connected, and will improve relationships.

Highly recommend. However, if you want to understand why you are even having the fantasy to begin with, and all that crap about the ego I was talking about, you would need to do some reading and practice insight meditation (basically a method of observing the present moment clearly, your mind and your experience generally improves in the process).

I encourage you to read Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning." It's about suffering meaningfully, for the sake of achieving something greater--with his patients, it was suffering through the holocaust so they could see their families again. Maybe you can find some great cause to live for.

You need to see things from my perspective. If for some reason the people you are attracted to would be harmed if you were to engage sexually with them I sure you wouldn't - and neither would I. I am also sure you would not watch anything that contained suffering of any kind for personal enjoyment. Okay so one of my very close friends, has severe, severe depression, bipolar, and some other stuff. Which means nothing has really ever helped. However, he has recently started doing ketamine treatments. He has never been better, I've seen such a HUGE improvement in him and it makes me sooooooo sooooo happy. And he's happy. It's has essentially not side effects either, other than you get high as a kite for a couple hours. I highly recommend looking in to it and seeing if it's available where you're at. Go to the hardware store and get an electronic rat trap. It take 4 AA batteries. set it in the corner of your room and toss some dog food in there. After it shocks one (and they are quiet when they do), remove the rat and toss it on the front porch. Keep doing this until your mom calls someone.

The one I use in my garage is called Rat Zapper - around $30 but worth it. It's reusable and not messy and it kills rats quickly. Less suffering.

wow, that's really interesting! i've never heard of it before! myself, i did something called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy. Its for "treatment resistant" depression (i.e. you have tried and failed two or more drugs) and they are currently testing it in the US for anxiety as well. It literally saved my life. Your Psychiatrist puts you in a chair that looks just like a dentist chair and aligns a device similar to a vice grip (but it doesnt hurt at all) around your head. it's placed in a special spot according to some testing they do previously and the device delivers magnetic pulses to a specific spot in your brain. you sit there for 37 minutes. you go 5 days a week for i think its 2.5 months (? i believe). it's a commitment for sure. it doesnt hurt, but i did get a headache in the first week or so. i tried TMS at my doctor's suggestion following 3 mental breakdowns that occurred in an 18 month period (after i learned i was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer). psych meds, therapy, and counseling were not working. i was suicidal. TMS was my "hail mary." i was fortunate to have health insurance that covered the procedure so i committed to the process and gave it a shot. i am thankful every day that i did. not only do i no longer take any kind of depression medication, but i also do not have to take sleep nor anxiety medications anymore. its been the biggest blessing of my life!!!
