No chance of Factorio going on sale as the developers have repeatedly said they don't do sales. Also the price is going up very soon so if you want it now is the time to buy. https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/016-price-change
That's what GOG gets for pushing Galaxy client - customers have no idea what GOG is about anymore. Or maybe that's the whole point.
Backup offline installers are regular game installers, but they suspiciously named them in a confusing way despite being told it's not obvious what that means for many users. GOG always offered those installers, that's what they started from - games you can download and install, without restrictions, without being always online, without clients and clutter - without DRM. GOG provided them long before they started following market trend with their own Galaxy client.
With some exceptions, like multiplayer tied to Galaxy or offline installers lagging behind Galaxy updates, there's no difference between games installed through Galaxy and regular installers. There's no point in downloading installers if you already run game from Galaxy other than to keep a backup.
What's also not made obvious, is that when you install games through Galaxy, you can run them without it. You can disconnect internet connection, turn off Galaxy, make a shortcut from game's executable and it should never ask you to open the client and log in. Just as if you installed the game with a "backup offline" installer.
Another thing. You don't need Galaxy do download those installers, just log in on GOG.com website and get them directly form your library. GOG is pushing their client so hard that it's possible to miss that.

TL;DR Backup offline installers are regular installers.
I'm not sure how large that effect is, actually. All GOG games (some multiplayer-only aside) need to be able to run without Galaxy anyways, so features wouldn't need to be cut specifically for Linux.
Rather, the low market share of Linux (probably 1-2% on GOG) and the overall "small" size of GOG (probably <= 10% of all sales) means for a game developer that they have to make a new build in a new environment (no Steam runtime environment) for a most likely negligible number of sales. Supporting platforms costs time and money, so I would believe that most devs keeping their Linux ports Steam-only would feel it's just not economical.
To clarify, anyone from anywhere can enter the contest!
What u/ucantdownit is referring to is actually the special discount to the Razer store that you can recieve by buying any game available on GOG.COM and subscribing to our newsletter :)
Lutris makes it very easy to install games (and launchers) from sources other than Steam in Linux. For someone who’s just getting started with Linux there will still be a learning curve. But it helps with Wine config immensely.
But itch.io isn't DRM-free. Maybe most games there are, but it's not a requirement; Itch is really an "anything goes" kind of store, which is fine, but they don't exclude DRM.
Like, they even have a "DRM Free" tag implying not all games there are DRM free.
Try:
Just an FYI that the promo codes they send are usually all time lows for the games they're promoting. And sometimes notifications for seasonal sales or wishlist notifications for flash sales are pretty useful too.
In all likelihood, this is because of 2 Factor Authentication / Authorization requirement, which is not yet implemented in GOG Galaxy. Go to gog.com, login with the same account as in GOG Galaxy, and complete the transaction there. The game will then be accessible via Galaxy.
IsThereAnyDeal and CheapShark. Both keep an eye on the legitimate/non-gray market sites for deals, including on GOG.
As for GOG keys, according to GOG, the only place to get GOG keys is from GOG. GOG.
It was a limited time offer that expired more than a year ago.
https://gg.deals/freebie/free-gog-version-of-the-witcher-3-for-owners-of-game-on-pc-or-console/
That's just bad wording on my part, switched it to game delistings. Sometimes a certain title will be no longer purchasable in the store and the moment I find out about it I'm trying to post a notice on the GOG.COM forums.
From now on I'm going to mention it on reddit as well :)
No there isn't. GOG has got no equivalent of Steam Cloud. You have to rely on manually backing up and transferring save games. Furthermore, be aware that some games use different save formats in their different ports and might not transfer across platforms.
The closest thing to a helper for that would be GameSave Manager, it assists backing up and restoring game saves in batch but it works only on Windows.
Alternatively, you can try mapping your save game folders to a cloud sync service like Dropbox, but you'd need to do that for every game on your own. (You can combine GameSave Manager and Dropbox to automatize this, though)
Proton, the compatibility layer that Steam is using for this, is open source and available on GitHub. I don't see why GOG couldn't use this as well with some modifications.
How about answering his question instead of making meme comments?
u/sincerelypg try either of the following fixes:
If either those fixes don't work contact GOG support for expertise.
The game has trophy % when I look at my own library so the reason it is not showing for you is some kind of bug, either on your current system or with your installation of GOG Galaxy.
So the version I have is 0.74-2, which according to DosBox works fully with Theme Hospital - I’m not sure if they released a minor update to fix the issue.
Presumably to roll back DosBox I just have to uninstall 0.74, download 0.73 and install it? Is there any GOG wizardry that I would need to copy in to the fresh download? I'm really not up on this sort of thing, I just want to cure funny diseases.
This I a very technical answer but you could try running wireshark https://www.wireshark.org/ and see what the connection is doing.
Most common cause if firewall (turn it off to test) or general network.
Also if your plan and phone support it try conning your computer via your phone to the internet. Some ISP do block odd stuff.
We were experiencing delays in games showing up in the library in the GOG GALAXY app. Since GOG.COM is DRM-free, it's still possible for you to download the aforementioned offline installers directly from your accounts here – gog.com/account
That being said, I've just received info that our Galaxy Team managed to fix this issue, but it may still take up to 30min before all accounts are back to normal.
There is no 'enhanced edition' for the game on GoG. You may be talking about a 'mod' for the game but that is from nexusmods.com which can be seen here and was last updated on 11 April. I'd check my gog account and see if it is on there and if not then your credit card and email address have been compromised somehow.
DS4Windows has been getting constant updates for over a year now and works considerably better than Input Mapper for me, but you need to use the Ryochan7 fork rather than the main Jays2Kings distro. This is the most current release: https://github.com/Ryochan7/DS4Windows/releases
Infinite Space is a mod that turns FTL into an endless sandbox game, rather than a mad dash through seven sectors to beat a final boss. Infinite features no final boss, and is basically "play until you lose", with mini-bosses at the start of each sector.
However, it's been abandoned, and has not been updated to include Advanced Edition systems, weapons, and mechanics.
Captain's Edition (another campaign overhaul mod) has a "CE Infinite" module, which is an optional mod installed on top of Captain's Edition. Should you download it, it does the same thing as Infinite Space, but includes the arsenal and events of Captain's Edition (and Advanced Edition).
I think, for a lot of people, this would be an instabuy. But for some reason it's not happening, nor do I see it happen in the near future. Probably the current owner of the name does not want it.
Well, I guess there is always: http://www.freeciv.org/
>my only real wish is that it have a native linux client.
Have you tried MiniGalaxy? Or Lutris which often offers a custom wine settings for each game?
pcgamingwiki has answer to life universe and everything, incl. the game! :)
https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Rayman_3:_Hoodlum_Havoc
widescreen modes with a 3rd party mod, apparently some issue with windows 8 and later (but fixable, with the caveat of "citation needed").
IIRC it ran fine the last time I tried (it's been few years, admittedly). I didn't have the mod for widescreen support, though.
I recall mouse & keyboard wasn't really supported and only xbox360 gamepads worked. The wiki page mentions the mod fixes atleast some of this.
Odd whenever I get that bug (happens relatively often) that always fixed it.
Have you tried rebooting PC?
If that does not work, try reinstalling the client. (don't worry about games you can re-sync your previous library with a new one after reinstalling).
If that does not work either try clearing the cache by deleting in.
c:\users\{name}\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy
And if that does not work I would contact GOG support for help.
No game in either library or orders? Weird. Just to be sure, might you have multiple gog accounts? Does your email have a confirmation of the game activation?
Could you also provide a screenshot of your library from gog.com?
I also suggest removing the screenshot since it clearly displays your serial code.
The mod format, .FTL, is open-source by nature. .FTL is actually just a renamed .ZIP archive, which can be unzipped by any archiver worth a damn. The files within are just 32-bit PNGs, XML, and TXT files. So by distributing the mod, you are in a sense sharing the files of the mod.
However, it's considered kind of rude to redistribute other modders' work, unless you've asked beforehand or (in some cases) you're "adopting" the mod from the original modder. I guess in this case, no one's adopted Infinite Space, since Captain's Edition already has a similar implementation. RAD-82 has made a similar mod for vanilla FTL called FTL: Extended, which uses the same mechanic Infinite Space does, but doesn't introduce any of the new events found in Infinite Space.
As /u/Mungrel7829 I assume it is a driver problem.
I recommend you download https://www.snappy-driver-installer.org/
Start it and download all drivers, install them and reboot (This will take a while)
It is the most reliable driver tool for Windows I know.
If you still have problems after that conntact GoG support, they know about problems related to the game. You can also look into the game specific forum on the GoG.com website.
Finally if nothing works you can make use of GoG's 30 day return policy.
Well, yes and no. GOG comes with the unnofficial patch (10.2, but the moest recent one is 10.4), but does not includes the plus patch that restores the cut/missing content

https://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-unofficial-patch

Just run the installer, choose to install the plus patch and enjoy (you must launch the game with the desktop shortcut the patch creates)
Nice! I feel like this needs adding to PCGamingWiki. Shall have to give it a try later.
By the way, the 1.1 version doesn't work for me. The application opens but it doesn't show anything, and it won't close properly, meaning I have to kill it in Task Manager. 1.0 seems to work better, but it still leaves processes running after being closed.
Only thing I can tell you is 30% is industry standard and I doubt GOG (or even Steam for that matter) will negotiate that for an indie game. Big AAA publishers might be able to get a better deal, but I don't see that happening for an indie title.
The only place I know that let's you set your own rate (for what the store will get) is itch.io but they don't have the userbase that Steam and GOG have so sales would probably be less.
Also unlike Steam, GOG is curated and are picky about what games they will accept. So it may be hard to get approved on GOG as well.
Outside of that, you make want to ask this on /r/gamedev where questions like this are better suited.
Chrome OS cannot run any games from the following services:
The only games that work on Chrome OS will be from the Google Play Store.
I would recommend you sign up for shadow, which let's you stream a Windows Game PC (which will work with GOG) over the internet. This will allow your Chrome OS computer to play Windows games.
In addition, the game you downloaded did not slow your computer down. Just make sure to go to your downloads folder and delete whatever you downloaded since it'll be useless and just takes up storage space on your computer.
I may have found a workaround.

I got the exact same error message when launching GOG Galaxy directly, but when launching it on gog.com via the "Download and Install now" on Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous it starts up GOG Galaxy fine and starts the download.
First thing - check your game library online at gog.com to see if you still own the game. If the game is not there, check your order history.
I suspect that by you moving Galaxy, the installation folder might be incorrect. Check your installation folder in Galaxy's settings, and ensure that Cyberpunk 2077 is present there.
If that fails you can check playonlinux as the have a ton of GOG install scripts there as well...
>Recommendations for mods (I think there are some?)
There is, in fact, an entire subforum dedicated to them. Here's a master list of completed, Advanced Edition-compatible mods. There's also a mod development forum for work-in-progress mods.
Great initiative! But I feel like they could've added some more/better links. http://manybooks.net/ is a much more user friendly place to download books from Gutenberg, and they have a lot more in addition. Also, Jamendo is great for music!
Ok many things here.
1)Support will get back to you normally in 2-5 days
2)Your email doesn't have to be taken from you for someone to use it
3)This is very much your fault
4)It is your fault because you used a very easy to brute force or guess password
5)They reason they got your email is probably from another hack on another service
6) Make sure to check This Website often and to never ever use a password from one of those if you have ever again.
7) Always check your emails everyday just for basic security because then things like this don't happen.
If on Linux you can try LGOGDownloader. Very neat!
You can also check gogrepo (script written in Python, so cross-platform).
Speaking of torrents - totally possible technically. A thing called passkey is assigned to each user account and it's written to torrent files for that user. Think of it like of a private key or permanent access token. Without it you won't be able to download anything. If a user somehow breaks the rules he can be banned by the passkey, i.e. his access suspended.
Quite an interesting suggestion, I'd support it. GOG servers can serve as master seeds, the users can help distributing the content.
https://ipfs.io can be also interesting here.
Yes, it's probably the C++ redistributable.
There are a bunch, and it seems like the links are down for most of them.
I suspect something is up with MS' website, and it only recently went down. If they're taking them away completely, that would be very problematic for sure.
There's a bunch of them, it's best practice to get both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions for 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 off the top of my head, and maybe 4.0 and 4.5.
If MS' has put the older packages in the new release, perhaps that is a reason they don't have the older downloads available. Try downloading framework 4.7 (the latest I believe) and see if that works.
Here is the wiki to help a bit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET_Framework
Here is a link to the frameworks: https://www.microsoft.com/net/download
Just click through for net, and then framework only.
Hopefully that works for you.
yeah I actually googled "steam skins" last night and it just seems like it's mostly graphical stuff... no skin seems to implement new features
what I was hoping for is for a sorting mechanism that takes the game's genre and other tags into account and lets you sort by other factors. like it would be awesome if you could group by genre or simply search "story driven" or "horror" or sort games based on time played, date released, etc. I actually got most of the genre and grouping thing done using the depressurizer but I have to run it for every game that I buy so it's more of a workaround than a solution
There's a 4 in 1 boxset of the original (Non EE version) of 1, and 2.
As far as finding it on GoG though, I'm not sure.
> When have achievements ever been needed though
Probably in The Stanley Parable though I can't think of any other examples offhand.
There's a couple of old board-game-ish games I've been waiting for, like Jones in the Fast Lane, and Dr Drago's Madcap Chase. You don't really see the board-game interface in games these days apart from strategy games.
Other than that it's just the endless wait for Tie Fighter. Sigh.
I downloaded the SecuROM Diagnostic Tool.

It seems that the tool only recognizes both the executables of the FEAR expansions containing SecuROM.

That honestly sounds like a problem with Galaxy itself, rather than the game. I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the Galaxy client, then see if that solves it.
If not, you can always download the offline backup installer files from gog.com/account (when logged in this will go to your list of purchased games) and install it that way.
Nope. Over the past year I've used 2FA with GOG.com and GOG Galaxy without this issue. It's clearly their 2FA servers becoming overwhelmed with requests. This really needs fixed. It's embarrassing that people can't even register copies of games they own, let alone install them.
Same here. Aussie and haven't been able to use the Galaxy client for well over a day now.
On the bright side let it be known this is an advantage of an optional DRM-free client. I can install my new games directly from the GOG.com website via offline installers until Galaxy is re-connected...
I just went to gog.com > support > orders & payments > contact us button.
The form I was taken to does indeed have a section for "Attachments" down at the bottom, but it is not a required field. The only information you need to submit is Problem Type ("refunds and returns" I would assume), email address, subject and description of your problem.
Now, I did note that across the top of this form are a bunch of buttons for different types of support, and one of them ("GOG game technical issues") does require an attachment of system information. That's the support form you use when you're still trying to fix a problem with a game. If you just want a refund, make sure you're on the "Orders & Payments" category, and then you don't need any sensitive system information.
Both games are completely free on the TES official site. They're also added to your account once you purchase one of Bethesda classic for the first time. In your case that would be Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
From the game description on GOG.com:
>When you buy this game, The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall will be added to your GOG.com account for free!
I really don't think you should be downvoted for this. It's a perfectly fair question. There is a large community who use emulators for games like Animal Crossing.
Also, you're right: I don't recall this line-up changing recently, which suggests I am wrong. I hope this isn't a static list updated manually. Another potential here is that the list is updated from a third party library.
Either way, I've never seen any indication that this list is paid advertising. However, if it is, I am right there with you.
If your on windows, check out the program launch box. It allows you to make a collection of all your games and supports steam, gog, and a butt load of emulators. Even has a wizard that makes the whole process easy + offers move games to an organized folder. Just started using it earlier this week.
Apparently there's something called Launchbox which can help organize and launch all your games on your computer. There's also a Steam import tool so you don't have to manually enter them one by one. I haven't tried it yet, but I probably will sometime this week.
If you really want to play them I would buy one of them. The BG series takes a lot of hours to complete, so you would have something to play during your break, and maybe still not finish it. Then if they do go on sale during Black Friday/Cyber Monday buy the other for your Winter break :)
http://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=808
This says that BG1 takes 45 hours just to do the main story, though if you look up the Enhanced Edition it shows a shorter time. I don't know if this counts the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion either.
I'm not sure. It could be an IGDB thing, or it could be something in how they link an IGDB entry to a game. I think it's probably the latter, as The Darkness doesn't link to the Xbox 360/PS3 game but to a recent Steam game.
There is a chance that it will go cheaper with one of the flash deals, but honestly, $5 is an amazing price for what you get out of that game.
Edit: Sales history shows it dropping to $4 a couple days ago. So you can either taste that glory now for $5, or wait and save a dollar.
I would definitely agree with Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (and possibly 4, if you like that one).
Beyond that I would recommend the Age of Empires games (I only really played the first growing up, but have lots of friends who enjoyed the other 2), or Empire Earth. If you enjoy these types of games, you could also check out 0 A.D., which is a free and open source game in that vein.
Edit: I asked a friend, who also suggested any of the Age of Wonder games.
The option mentioned by /u/Linux_Jesus is called virtual desktop. Here's how you can use it in Wineskin on Mac:
http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php?page=Manual+4.2+Screen+Options
To access that Wineskin settings view:
Go to the game directory by right clicking (or CTRL+click) and picking "Show Package Contents" from context menu. Then start Wineskin.app and pick "Screen Options"
As long as you don't need it to automatically start (which isn't really doable), you can just manually launch a random .exe like a simple note taking program or something, right? Maybe the least cluttery option is to download portable applications which require no installation and thus won't really clutter up your PC, e.g. from https://portableapps.com/
That may be because the client failed to properly update / something got corrupted, in these cases to be sure it installs correctly you can disconnect the plugin, close the client, go to folder "%localappdata%\gog.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed" and delete the steam folder, run client again, it will redownload the plugin, then reconnect, but since you solved it trough this method doesn't matter.
It's not a virus :)
gogalaxy.com is the official website for GOG Galaxy 2.0, and it is operated directly by GOG.com. Any file downloaded from this site I would consider to be safe. Sounds like a case of a false positive on the side of Bitdefender.
Hope you got into the Beta!
>Also, if he still has a copy of the files and installs and plays a game can it lock me out?
Apparently, the brother is not just planning to lend the copy, but play it as well, creating a two-copy problem. Pure piracy.
Legally, you are allowed one backup copy, strictly for backup purposes. As soon as you distribute for someone else to play, it's piracy. This is not borrowing. It's even more frustrating to me, because of how inexpensive this game is right now.
GOG.com looks like it is missing a "gift" feature, to gift a game to another member. This seems like an oversight to me. Hopefully, I'm either wrong, or GOG will implement a gift feature soon. That would be neat.
Thank you. I did not know. I am trying play-dune.com right now. It is surprising to be able to play Dune 2 in the browser. Was there an easy way to move a unit to a location other than selecting "move" from the right menu?
Maybe it's worth to mention that there was a project called Openredalert which seems inactive:
Old games don't have official servers but they still have the software such as NOX (check out /r/nox!) and it works perfectly...the other option is software such as game ranger (http://www.gameranger.com/) where it connects over the internet but fools the game into thinking you are playing over a LAN
Its crazy that a game I thought at a Gamestop almost 20 years ago and I always just thought of a (well done, I dont remember anything obviously wrong with it) shovel ware title I remembered based on your description alone. It seems Amazon has some jewel cases for sale via third parties if you want to do that.
Private Internet Access is running a sale on their VPN service last I checked. Might be worth taking a look at ;)
And the terms of service is kind of vague on using one to buy something that your parent country is saying you can't have
Had the same issue. Saw the post about using a VPN. I already have NordVPN, so I gave it a shot and it did the trick. Strange work around but whatever. Not sure why it helps but it does. Nord has a great service so the download was quick. However if you have no need for a VPN, I hope you find a solution other than paying for a service you dont need. Sorry to not be of much help otherwise. Good luck
it doesn't save you any time at first. the new launcher is useful if you already have a shitload of other launchers installed and other games installed via those launchers. It then becomes useful as you can just link your accounts and launch the games from one launcher instead of having to open each one to launch it.
imo it doesn't really help too much. The real solution to this would be if everyone would just stop it with DRM. then you could just play from the exe or from whatever launcher you wanted because nothing's connected to an account and nothing is phoning home. I've tried to combat it by just not buying anything with drm and only using GOG and itch.io if I can possibly help it. always checking those stores to see if i can get DRM free copies of stuff I want or, in some cases, already have. the launcher business matters far less when the majority of your games are drm free.
Personally, I use Mullvad, mainly because it doesn't ask me for any information about myself, it doesn't ask me to register an account (it asks me to generate an account but that's a very different thing), and it supports crypto payments as well. All of their clients are also open source. They're also pretty cheap too, costing you only 5 euros per month of usage. Other VPN providers I'd recommend are NordVPN, which is prettt famous at this point, although this one uses closed source clients, Surfshark which also accepts Bitcoin and uses RAM-only servers (so they couldn't log anything about you even if they wanted to), ExpressVPN as it also accepts Bitcoin (although it's a bit more expensive than the others) and which accepts Bitcoin and the privacy focused Monero. Special mentions: ProtonVPN which is also pretty solid
https://airtable.com/shrldLsErlUf3eHqS/tbltXjS8fxEGG11eD
Ignoring duplicates for OSes:
Windows: 46
Windows:
46 / 3533 = 1.3%
All OSes: 60 (filtered through Excel)
60 / 3533 = 1.7%
Therefore, 1.3-1.7% of the library will be slightly behind in offline installer versions compared to Galaxy. Close enough to my 2% estimate.
Just because it uses it's own launcher doesn't necessarily mean you will lose game progress as most games save game progress to the my games folder in your doccuments. In the case of stardew valley, game progress is saved to " %APPDATA%\StardewValley\Saves\ ", so it is very likely that the game will just see the save there and load it as normal.
About Doom 3, Well Yeah, but its so attractive to buy Doom 3 BFG Edition with the inclusion of Doom 1 & 2 as you said, as also The Doom 3 Expansion and Extra Levels, also, you can get Doom 3 BFG to look better with High Definition Mods in ModDB, unlocking Graphics Effects with them, some of these mods even tweak the AI in some Way, here they are:
Doom 3 BFG: UltimateHD
https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-3-bfg-ultimate
"List of Features:
improved textures
tesselated models

Doom 3 BFG Hi Def
https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-3-bfg-hi-def
"Doom 3 BFG Hi Def Feature list
Works as a replacement for the stock game without overwriting anything (still can run stock game)
Runs mods with Hi Def's quality
Higher quality tga texture sources
Higher poly models
Full Ragdolls
Muzzle flashes and fireballs cast shadows
Effects like wet blood reflections
No gameplay changes except via mods"
If a game has a release for PC, Mac, or Linux, then adding it to the IGDB should make it show up in GOG. I've checked itch for these three games. Agar and Slither have such a releases, so I've submitted updates the IGDB to add release dates for PC, Mac and Linux (as well as a link to the itch page.) Once these go through, they should show up in GOG Galaxy within 24 hours.
Penguin Diner: Restaurant Dash has no release on itch, so I would check around to see if you can find them anywhere.

Also just a side note, I've noticed from adding stuff to the IGDB (or editing entries) that a game's title needs to be at least three characters long. If it is shorter than that, you can add it to the IGDB but will still most likely need to edit some loser game.
When I was on Manjaro, I had a ton of success using Lutris, and installing the GoG Galaxy client through that. I hadn't got as far to integrate my Galaxy shortcuts directly into lutris launcher yet. I haven't got that PC back from repairs yet to finish that effort. Getting the Galaxy client working through Lutris was pretty straight forward though.
Lutris is really great because it basically gives you access to every game launcher made for windows. Not yet UWP far as I know .
It's a dilemma for me.
I'm in favor of DRM-Free games for multiple reason, so I try to get them on GoG but since I game on Linux, Steam offer me a better service with less problem to play.

So usually I check ProtonDB to see how the game run on Linux with Steam, then I check Lutris to see if there's a working script to install said game and if everything check, I buy on GoG, otherwise I buy on Steam.
The only way you can "emulate" Windows XP is to use a virtual machine, for which you need an XP ISO and a key (which you'll have to find yourself, I'm afraid).
A good hypervisor for this is VMware Player, which from my experience does tend to work better with games in general. You could also use VirtualBox which may have improved since I last used it.
Are you able to log in to the gog.com website and download the installers from there?
I've seen a couple posts like this today, so it seems like Galaxy is having some issues maybe.
Is OP a troll? The way they're wording everything seems to suggest so, and there's several things wrong here which of course could be tributed to ignorance.
For your interest, Steam DRM is completely optional. Nothing prevented the dev from not using DRM on Steam. This fact alone already puts your entire post in question.
You are aware not everyone will face the same crash right...? Maybe the game crashes every 2 minutes for you I don't know I said for ME it hasn't crashed, PC's aren't a universal thing where everyone will face the same problem, I checked it out on Steam and it has 89% positive rating this isn't as universal of a problem as you think, Thanks for getting offended that I said it runs fine for me, https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Civilization_III there's some help for you
For the record, according to gg.deals, it was on a 40% discount on GOG in December last year, which I'm assuming was the previous Winter sale.
Nothing since, though, apart from discounts on Steam.

If the Galaxy team is reading this thread, PLEASE give us the option of disabling it. These games aren't on PC, so it's effectively an ad than it is anything functional.
Looks legit to me, when searching for gog galaxy the link you mentioned is one of the first that show up. I tried the url GogGalaxy.com which simply redirects you to Gogalaxy.com - the one we are talking about here. I'm pretty confident that this is legit.
Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7 on January 14, 2020, it's imprudent to keep using it, so no serious third-party software company will officially support it.
That doesn't mean the software won't run on Windows 7, you can keep using it if you want. But it is untested, it can break at any time, and you're on your own if it breaks, no support.
Guess their split tunneling doesn't work then. Hard to say what it could be because split tunneling clears both Nord and Galaxy as far as troubleshooting.
If you want to try with a similar VPN, Proton has a free version that works fine, split tunneling available as well last time I checked.
Sounds like a routing problem, Australians had this for a while.
If you want to test, here's a free vpn. Their free servers are in USA, Netherlands, and Japan. There isn't a cap or anything, and if you wanted to use it exclusively for galaxy you could setup split tunneling easily.
I get bank declines because gog has no footprint whatsoever. Just use a vpn and paypal.
If you need a decent free vpn
I'm pretty sure their free servers are in USA, Netherlands, and Japan.
BlackRiot probably gave you the info you needed. But I'll say this anyway: go to your account in a web browser (gog.com/account), click on the game and a small screen should fade in, under "download backup installers", click/download each item that's listed (there'll be one or more, multiple parts for Witcher 2 I assume). then when everything's downloaded and in the same folder together (presumably Downloads), run the installer file / EXE file
I would try that just in case it is an issue involving the graphics processor being within minimum spec but not recommended. If a game gives you the option to lower it's resolution, this will do more to speed up loading times than anything else. After that, it's just reducing details should things till be slow.
If you're not able to wait the game out to get it to load, I would check the start menu for the Disco Elysium [GOG.com] folder. Check here if there's an option related to graphics - some games will have this, but a lot don't.
After that, I can only suggest contacting GOG support to see if they have anything else to suggest or just go for a refund.
Unfortunately without owning this game, I don't know if there's a way to manually dig around in a config file to forcibly lower the resolution to try to help with loading.
According to GameRanger it is a supported game: http://www.gameranger.com/games/
I haven't tested it myself though, but I have heard good things about the program.
I'm looking forward to playing these 2 games again once I get some free time!
I've pretty much only used Astrill since I've arrived, and I think it's now the clear choice over Express from what I gather from friends. No one really cares if you have a VPN out here. I also have a business license, so that makes it even more reasonable that I would have one, but I've never seen a situation where someone I know has had any trouble for having a VPN. Xiamen is definitely on my list of places I'd like to visit. I've been spending a lot of time in Yunnan during holidays. We have a little lakeside condo there that's really beautiful, so I haven't been miserable, but I do miss my family a lot and wish there were ways we could visit each other more easily. I think it will ease up eventually, but with the population density here, I understand why they are being very cautious.
OMG 3 weeks?! I really hope this pandemic is going to loosen up. I want to visit, but I only have 1 month of vacation at most and my visa is going to expire in 2023.
Last time I visited, I used express VPN and it worked mostly until an airport in Xiamen stopped me from connecting or something. Someone I chatted with said that only 2 VPNs work there: Express and Astrill. Is Astrill much more robust there? What would authorities do to you if they found out about your VPN? The next time I visit, I think I might need to have 2 phones. One with WeChat installed. The other, without. I wish I can convince my family to install Signal and use that instead.
I do have a VPN (Astrill) for social media, but, ironically they don’t have Chinese servers, so it’s almost the one place I can’t fake being, I suppose, haha. When I go back to the US in the summers usually, I can’t watch my NBA games on the Tencent app, for example.
I personally haven't run into a game that used different save files for different stores, so I'm almost certain it would work, you can use PC Gaming Wiki to find the save files or the config files. Cheers!
> all authorized resellers for Steam offer no refunds in any fashion.
False, Humble Store is generous (I'm not sure if their policy has changed, but they used to compensate purchases made months ago with hours of playtime) with refunds and Indiegala offers them "at discretion".
Looks like Gog Galaxy functionality removed this as an option?
