I did this with one of these. Used CO2 cartridges in a bike tire inflator to make our own soda. Cheap and easy Soda Stream.

Not sure if this is the usual redneck type stuff. This is a handmade pipe wrench. A retail one looks like link
Tools like this are usually awesome and last more than one lifetime, getting handed down or passed around.
It's like six screws and you can buy the battery for about $15.
I removed the recoil for the pull start. It was 4 small bolts. If you've ever had to fix the pull rope then you've done it before.
When you get that off, you'll see that there's a nut that the recoil was turning. Find a deep well socket that fits that nut. Then you'll need something like this so that you can put the socket on the drill.
After that you just push the primer a few times and then use the drill to turn the motor clockwise until it starts. Be ready to let go of the drill. It might want to spin out of your hand.
Unfortunately he's right. The hole is there to be locked and tagged. You will have a hard time finding any outlet using a spring loaded ball to retain the plug - they will all use simple spring clips. Further, the operation to punch the holes and the quality issues with aligning the holes means that it's more expensive to have the hole than the teeny amount of metal saved. You know a little too much, please humble yourself. Like, how can you possibly bring up the lockout/tagout for industrial machinery that will never, ever use a NEMA 1 plug for single phase? You can even find name-brand industrial lock-out devices for $6 on Amazon that use the lockout holes to lockout the plug.

I like to use one at the bedside. It's easier than having to sit up and drink if you're thirsty at night.
I have a reusable silicon straw like this and a 1 litre mason jar at the bedside.
I've had this one for a couple years and I'm really pleased with it. Obviously it's not really redneck engineering, but I thought you may be interested.
The replacement handle is $5.27, but his makeshift replacement was $4.75, so he did save $0.52, minus the cost of the screws.
These are fairly common and cheap, not to mention pretty robust. It would be far more elegant than the plug solution. I swapped one out for my mom on her smoke exhaust in the kitchen, it died after 10 years of constant use and it died only because the internal contacts has been covered with grease/grime over the years. Tons of other variations exist too that are pretty common.
Some of them come with cleaning brushes.
I haven't gone camping yet this year, but I can smell the picture.
I recommend one of these, picked one up years ago for camping.

My decision is to use any recently-made cheapo chinese tracker that can wake up by accelerometer and is controlled by SMS. Virtually all GPS modules that are mass-produced in the last several years have adequate accuracy and battery usage.
It's a bonus if the tracker is supported by open-source server software, since then you have the option of not sending your dog's location to china :D
The one posted here is ST-903, but it has a drawback that its battery lasts only 2-3 days. There are other trackers that are a bit more expensive but can last up to a week.

Yeah, going through holes prevents loss of the whole canister. Popping the lid off is the next problem, but those lids turn out to be quite difficult to pop off;

Still, I've been considering something with a screw-on lid, like a ~~piss canister~~ sterile urine container, but the only sizes I could find locally were too large, so it will have to wait
Not sure if you've heard of Sweat Block. It was a total game changer for me. Wish I had this stuff in high school!
It's just a little lawn mower tank I pulled off of a lawn mower I tried to get going but turned out to be a bust so I pulled this off because I have been running this truck off of a can with a hose stuck in it and it's been sitting for about 10 years but yeah like 12$ fuel pump too plus line

Yeah, it won't last with the zip ties unless you have the expensive ones. It looks easy to swap but I bet it won't be as easy after it's all mucked up with grass. Still, try it out. Might as well. Make a post with an 'after' photo if you do try it out, I'm sure this sub would love to know.
You could get one of these. They cut like mad for a while but break and ryobi doesn't seem to make one with replaceable blades. If you're only cutting clean grass it'll last forever. No edging though. If you're handy you could dremel and superglue your way to a replaceable blade setup here I'm sure. Replacement blades are about a buck a piece for other brands with replaceable blade models.
Do the head gaskets on time at 100k milesish.
When you change the oil do all the other maintenance stuff (check brakes, top off other fluids, clean it, etc.) before you take off the oil filter because you have to reach up into the damn exhaust like some bad SAW movie knockoff. Mine ate headlights since the running lights are always on, spend like $50-100 a set of LED headlights a d the anti-flicker ballasts. I spent just under $200 for highs and lows and went from new bulbs every 6 months to 3 1/2 years with zero problems AND they're brighter.

It works out pretty well for me. I also picked up some extra long hose, maybe a 30 foot extension or something on amazon... maybe it was this one, maybe it's only 20 foot
the bigger fitting fits over the end of a normal shopvac hose, so you can just chain them together super easily

being able to turn the vacuum on, pulling the hose into another room, and having the majority of the noise fade into the distance is pretty fancy, highly recommend.

My cousin used an old cooler mounted to the center underside of the table to hold the battery. He used angled aluminum for a little frame so he can slide the cooler into place while keep the lid on so it keeps the batteries from getting wet. It works really nicely and it's a ton of fun being able to putt around with the trolling motor.
Tossing one of these on there is so much fun. My cousin has one setup to take one of these and he attached an old cooler to the underside of the table to hold the battery while keeping it out/away from any water. He mounted the battery under the center of the table. The two batteries added a bit of center weight as well that seems to keep it a bit more stable.

The flat triangle-cut corner on the tool doesn't create a thin tapered edge so it looks neater and lasts longer. Sure the scraper/profiling tool will get 'filled' with waste caulk but it is easy to clean and you can start over going from finished section to unfinished and it doesn't create a bump or gap.
There is this for almost 200$ and there is your creation for like 20$. I think I know what's better.

Bought one of these a few weeks ago, because the convenient store where I normally buy fuel just put in a few new pumps and the diesel handles don’t have the catches for the levers(but the gas handles do). I’m not holding the lever while I put up to 50 gallons of fuel in. Especially as winter is approaching.

I have it on almost all electrical cords and any cables that I can't hide behind things. I'm thinking about getting some kind of metal mesh that I can put over/around the cables between devices and the wall to better protect them - it's a rats nest of wires from my UPS, NAS, router, modem, KVM switch, laptop dock, and CPU.
You built a drill press. All you need is a depth stop, and some springs on the uprights might make it a little easier to use too.
I have a smaller version so I can drill perfectly straight holes with my drill, like this one, and I would definitely consider buying/renting something like you made if I had to build a long fence.
Absolutely, I'm the same exact way, and I've been pissed a number of times at hotels for the same exact reason. As a last ditch effort though, I've been using this app for years and it helps a lot

I love to trim my kids clothes when they get "pills" on them and when I saw this I was curious. Well safe to say I LOVE this! I was just going to say, that looks really stable. Though, I'd probably put something on the bottom, like this to keep the wood from splintering.
That's a modified sine wave inverter, so the output will be worse than a normal generator.
If you try to run an induction motor from that, it will just buzz and not produce any torque.

It's a great solution. Those look like zip ties, but can't tell for sure. Standard ties have a tensile strength of 40-50 lbs, and must be joined in some fashion. I've snapped them by pulling too tight.
If he didn't, link below is what I would use, 160 lb. tensile strength, 500 yds., $40, the roll lasts forever, and nobody would be snapping it. I think it would be more versatile, could essentially create a cocoon, and would be easier to secure to the car. You could even make string loops for bungee tie-downs to sturdy components under the vehicle. You could even string it through the noodles. Pro noodles with length-wise slits are much more expensive than toy noodles.
The string would work to tie down refrigerator boxes, too.
