So many thoughts about this.
Here is one of them.

NordVPN, I wouldn't say any VPN's compare to this one. They have an offer going right now too.
Yes, Nord was hacked, but it only made it stronger and stronger. ExpressVPN is probably next on the hack list, while Nord's gates are only getting stronger
NordVPN definitely. It got hack, but what comes after hacks? New, strong defence system. If anything, it made it stronger more than weaker. ExpressVPN will probably be next
Duolingo is probably the best online free language learning platform. I use them for two languages now. And they are open to contributors adding more.
Since most people can't/won't make time for a formal language course, duolingo is almost perfect. A few minutes a day (more if desired).
If you haven't already I suggest you check out the platform and maybe contact them with a suggestion for Xhosa. I'm sure many of us here will provide additional motivation if needed.

- Ford upped its investment in the GP plant. The plant will be capable of making a Ranger every 2 minutes

Python should be taught in South African schools. It has a relatively easy entry and is a very applicable language.
It is used extensively in web development and scientific computing. Learning Python can also introduce you to the fundamentals of computer science. Another big bonus is that it is a multi-paradigm language meaning you can approach from a object-oriented, imperative, functional or procedural style. This means it is easier to learn other languages.
I really see no good reason for children to be learning programming or computer science from Java. The language itself is becoming less and less relevant although the frameworks are as important as ever. It is still one of the most importnat languages out there, but not as good a starting point as Python.
Delphi? I don't know. When I use to tutor kids I really disliked having to teach Delphi. It has very little relevance. There may still be a few jobs out there but learning it is a waste of time.
On that note, learning computer science and fundamental programming techniques is, or should be, independant of the language you choose. Once you have begun to master a programming language the other languages make much more sense. Python just has a nice syntax to get you started.
Edit:
For those who are interested in learning Python...

Thus Amazon does not have to pay any royalties as the people who own the brand are selling it on Amazon.
Thus the article is lying.

Or do you think the company must pay royalties to itself?
My friend uses NordVPN and it works that way because DSTV has geo-blocking. Unblocking other Netflix regions and Hulu is a huge plus for him too. I use it torrent safely though. If you want a nice deal, here's one. Or you could try some others, but I'm talking only from my experience.
I've read the leaked government's report (2004) on cannabis.
They list other countries stances and then just go rambling on about how bad it is. But with all the recent developments worldwide, I wouldn't want to have to update that document.
Joburg city isn't really a place for a woman to be travelling alone. You'd be best looking for tour groups or hiring a taxi / car. The Gautrain is quite safe and can be taken from the airport to get you up to Sandton and Pretoria.
Have a read of this page. Alot of answers for you in there. Probably one of the better sites for travel tips.
You can always extend layovers if you book 'multicity' tickets.
If arts are your thing and you can time it so you're here on a Saturday market on main isn't a bad spot for brunch or souvenir shopping. Just be sure to get a proper taxi to take you there and don't go walking around the streets outside.
If you plan to go to Soweto on a tour or whetever go bungee or scad falling at Orlando Towers. Even if you're too scared to jump (definitely worth it though) there is a pub/restaurant at the bottom that cooks a mean braai.
It's not the entire country. That is less than 1 sq km, and was flattened because it was being used as storage for missiles.

Palestine has a much higher HDI than South Africa, so we're the last people who should be throwing stones. I can promise you that you'd rather be in a Palestine public hospital then in a South African one.
And yes, the area you're talking about is literally a movie prop, as the Palestinian government have refused aid for rebuilding it as they need to keep it looking like that...
BitX allows you to buy and sell using EFT from SA bank accounts. They also pay out funds every 24 hours (if you request a payout). You can choose to keep your bitcoins in your BitX wallet, online. If you insist on moving your coins to a more personal wallet, I prefer Electrum.
I've been trading on it for a few months and have no issues.
The SAICA website claims it's board game called Commercium, developed locally. Interesting.
If you do buy and play it, would you mind doing an unboxing and messaging me? I like niche board games.

It's so sad to me that someone can call for an increase in infant mortality :(
Insecurity around infant health actually leads to bigger families, because people expect some children to die and overcompensate.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ANC is involved to help cover all of this up. There are so many apartheid secrets that the ANC helps to keep secret. A good example of this is project spear. Here is a documentary about project Spear (which is basically banned in South Africa because the people who hold the rights to the documentary don't want to give anyone the right to legally show this documentary) https://d.tube/#!/v/throwawayaccount/m1yba4gj

Because the new updates have hard-coded Google's DNS into the applications, you muppets.
This is something the MBB "tech journalists" could glean with the slightest iota of research.
If you happen to be technically-minded, you can bypass this issue by setting up destination-based redirects on your router (DD-WRT/iptables/etc.), by basically redirecting 8.8.8.8 to UnoTelly/Unlocator's DNS.
> 10 to 1. > > They have the army. They have the Zimbabwean army.
Your logic doesn’t hold. Sun Tsu (The Art of War) was an ancient Chinese military strategist (his teachings are still part of the curriculum in the modern military academy). A favoured tactic was to place troops in suicidal positions. They won through or they died – no compromise. They fought like cornered rats and exceeded their usual performance because there was no possibility of surrender. This was demonstrated by the SADF in the 1980’s. There were 3500 SA troops. The conflict was billed to the SADF conscripts as the ‘Total Onslaught’. The ‘rooi gevaar’ and the ‘swart gevaar’ had teamed-up – it was plausible. This was indoctrination which all SA whites were taught to believe from the cradle.
Casualties during Operations Modular, Hooper and Packer between September 1987 and March 1988 (including Cuito-Cuanavale).
Enemy losses 4 768 soldiers killed (Some estimates were as high as 7000) The equipment losses cover pages.
SADF losses 31 soldiers killed 3x tanks 4x Ratels 1x fighter aircraft
SA was fighting 3 nations – Russia, Cuba and Angola – with a conscript force. A significant portion of the conscript contingent didn’t agree with government ideology and were fighting to survive only. The SA forces were outgunned in the air with Russian Mig 21’s and 23’s flown by Cubans – generally Russia supplied equipment and ‘advisors’, Cuba operated the hi-tech stuff and Angola (with some of the 25 000 Cubans) supplied the infantry. There was a massive SA victory but the SADF couldn't say anything as they weren't meant to be there. Only in hot pursuit of SWAPO. This silence has created a gap for the other side to claim a victory when in fact there was a massive defeat. The SANDF and the Zimbabwean army are nowhere near as competent as the Russians or Cubans. Your numbers theory doesn’t hold.
So... the problem is an ignorant populous. What's the solution? Education.
Now comes the fun bit.
Imagine you work for someone, and you do something complex and easily misunderstood. Now imagine, that you don't really feel like working so hard, so you do a bad job. Now imagine, that part of your job is educating your employer about how your job works, and how much of it you are doing well.
Now ask yourselves; What incentive does our government have to educate people?
It's not that the system is broken, the system is not broken. For it to be broken would be to imply that it was designed to be something, and then stopped performing its main function. What is the function of our government? To perpetuate the status quo to benefit the ruling class.
To that end, I propose, that the collective intelligence is not low. I say, don't underestimate how conniving a politician can be. Read some strategy; "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”

Again, watching you sweep injustices of your own people under the carpet as if they never happened. As for your definition of racism, that is where your ignorance lets you down. Racism is not only the act of superiority over another race, but merely intolerance of another race is racism. And black racists are very much intolerant of white people.
> If there was an alternate universe wherein black people owned a disproportionate amount of land and resources, and wielded unequal political power
Goodwill zwelithini owns 2/3 of the entire KZN. A disproportionate amount of resources for one man. And the ANC wields unequal political power.
Therefore, your argument failed.

Ergo, black people can be, and are racist. Once has to be really ignorant to believe that black people cannot be racist.

DNS is a fickle beast and I agree on using alternatives to ISP's as they can get borked from time to time, Vox is the worst offender as far as I am aware.
OP, may I rather suggest making use of OpenDNS? Their free to use service I find is quicker than Google's DNS and somewhat more reliable. For the more tech savvy you can configure a DynDNS service with it and block specific categories including malware.
OpenDNS server addresses are:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
And they have a handy guide for configuring it.
NordVPN and ExpressVPN as others have mentioned are good legit companies. Also there are tons of coupon codes for these companies which works out I think to a month free and then you pay $3 a month. They love targeting Youtubers which is how we know their names to market to you. Deffo look up a code and save yourself some bucks
Well most of the SA meals are primarily meat based frankly.
I also eat primarily vegetarian and one SA thing I've found very helpful is Mrs Balls Chutney. It's got various uses but I primarily use it to fix veg dishes that turned out a bit too bland. So if I made a veg stew and didn't include enough unami components then I'll throw a tabblespoon of chutney on top of it.

They usually just charge you for late checkout up 2x full night's rate - and they have your credit card details for incidentals anyway.
I was surprised that AirBnB wouldn't have the same and checked - they do:

> Let me present a different side of the argument. First and foremost, often when officials from the two governments reach a deal to build infrastructure in Ghana, it’s not intended to be a jobs program. The objective of these contracts is to build a road, a bridge or some other piece of infrastructure that your own government has deemed essential. This isn’t an aid program, often it’s not even a traditional development program similar to those done by Western governments over the past few decades. Nope. This is pure business. The Ghanaians say they need a road, the Chinese say they can build it.
> China has been especially successful in Africa and other developing markets with its infrastructure business because it undercuts both local and international competitors, sometimes by as much as 50 percent. For a country like Ghana, with its limited budgets, the so-called “China Price” is the reason why these Chinese companies often win the bids. Well, part of that is that Chinese companies have an integrated system of financing, engineering, material sourcing, etc. that allows them to build at a lower cost. And yes, part of this is labor, but it’s important to be clear what kind of labor we’re talking about and how much of it they really do import.
So its know and its ok because that is part of the deal. Now show me where this is being allowed and done by Europe.
Food poisoning :/
From WebMD:
> What causes listeriosis?
> L. monocytogenes is found in soil and water.
> - Vegetables can become contaminated from the soil or from manure used as fertilizer. > - Animals can carry the bacteria and can contaminate meats and dairy products. > - Processed foods, such as soft cheeses and cold cuts, can be contaminated after processing. > - Unpasteurized (raw) milk or foods made from unpasteurized milk can be contaminated.
The WebMD page has info on how to prevent infection as well. Wash your fresh fruits and veg, package meat, poultry, fish, veg separately and wash your hands before you prepare food as well.
Stay safe y'all.
Uber is great. I've used in in Jo'burg and Cape Town. The neat thing about the app is you can see as soon as a car responds to your request, so no waiting anxiously wondering if a driver is on the way.
As for accommodation, try Airbnb. Plenty of possibilities in the link below. One thing to keep in mind though, is if you are a first time user, some hosts may be wary of you. So fill out your profile in detail - a pic, a brief bio, and verify your identity via the site using passport, social media links (these are not visible to the public, only the fact that you have supplied them).
Absolutely a better way to find reliable and decent accommodation above other sites such as SA Venues, Safari, etc.
You'll have to speak with your insurance provider. Probably will need to look at a commercial package for guests. However for actual damages to your property AirbBnB has a built in insurance package with its hosts.
Use a VPN. Or get a premium account. "Vacation mode" is permanent with a premium account. A family plan (6 accounts) is $15 which amounts to about R225 p/m or R37.50 p.p. p/m (depending on exchange rate). So get some buddies to share a family plan with you. It's totally worth it.
Also, you'll need a VPN to sign up. So get a free trial. Hope this helps!
Do you have a South African ID number? Then your details are probably in the database. There are 60 million records there which means that most likely everyone's details are there.
You can check for your email at https://haveibeenpwned.com/, but if it doesn't come up, all that means is the leaked data didn't contain that particular address. There were only 2.2M email addresses across those 60M records.
Shapeshift is awesome because it doesn't even require an account, and supports a literal metric fuckload of cryptocurrency types. You have to just create an ethereum address where you want to be paid, deposit the bitcoin you have, and wait a few seconds for the exchange to happen.
In summary, getting bitcoin is easy, turning bitcoin into ether with Shapeshift is easy. So do that. I see no need for any exchange to natively support ethereum.

I set my router up myself from my laptop after the fiber thingies were installed, and there was no speed option. This router was brand new and was not used at all under old line.
I did check with the last router. Still the shitty speeds I'm getting now.
I used https://fast.com/
I'll phone them tomorrow. Thanks for all the tips.
Programming is actually one of the few fields where proven talent and experience far outstrips the value of any formal degree, and not only because the demand is far greater than the supply. Many devs will tell you that having a portfolio showcasing quality work and dedication will go a lot further in finding a job than being fresh out of uni with a 4year comp-sci degree and nothing else to show for it.
There is an absolute wealth of info out there on the net, you just have to know where to look and how to combine it all into something meaningful.
To get started I'd recommend looking into https://www.freecodecamp.org/, it's a free online learning platform that focuses on teaching you through real-world participation in open-source projects and helps you build up a portfolio as you learn. Once you're more familiar with the scene and want something a bit more structured, similar to something like a CS degree but geared towards real-world application and job-readiness, I'd head on over to https://github.com/P1xt/p1xt-guides and pick up one of these excellent open-source guides that best fits your interest.
In today's world there's no reason why finances should be a barrier to education, even though you won't have the shiny piece of paper everyone seems so obsessed with. With hard work and dedication a dev job is within your reach, it might just take a little longer.
Interesting discussion. I can really see where the doctors are coming from. If it was just a case of not wanting to live in, say, Port Nolloth for a year, I'd be a lot less sympathetic. Suck it up, being a doctor means you live in the boonies for a little bit. You can go back to making mad bank in Groote Schuur afterwards.
Couple of discussions of the topic by medics:
https://medium.com/philosophy-logic/8013b9a8b060
http://barefootmeds.wordpress.com/2014/02/01/on-comserve-and-the-desroches-case/
However, when we're talking about "substandard accommodation, salary and human-resource issues, and a lack of resources with which to serve patients" I really see where these guys are coming from. It's one thing to be a doctor in a tiny dorpie. It's another when your entire work environment seems to have been designed by evil geniuses intent on breaking your will to practice medicine.
I use Mullvad for a couple of things, but a VPN isn't going to protect your privacy any more than your regular internet connection. All you're doing is shifting the information your ISP would know over to a foreign entity that may or may not actually care about your privacy

Criminal enterprises have infiltrated government organs long ago, and I don't think we're going to get rid of them without a revolution. I just don't see how we can ever get them out. We're in a mafia state. Read The President's Keeper.
From what I've read before there's no real way to stop this BS from being sent. I know of people who get them daily and others that barely do. Seems random.

ExpressVPN. A little expensive, but have used them for 3 years. Great speeds and reliable, 24/7 support. Lots of flexibility for phone, router-level VPN, etc.
ETA: using their locations USA-Hollywood or USA-Washington DC works best for US Netflix
Are you using the native Android TV app? () Also use TCP, it's a faster protocol. I have set up NordVPN with the native app and my speeds are good, haven't had issues with it. Maybe there's smth with your setup?
TL/DR - DSTV - No | Fixed costs per month - R697.99 pm (excluding box office & UFC Fight Pass) | Box Office - R30-R60 once in a while | UFC fight Pass - $9.99/pm (R160+/- every month), which means I'm paying roughly between R860 - R920 per month on entertainment (if my maths is correct)
This is gonna be a bit long.
Okay, first of all, I don't have DStv, but I am subscribed to ShowMax(R99/pm), until Netflix arrives, and I credit my Box Office account with R30-R60 every now and then when I see good local content, so Naspers still gets my pennies in that way.
My ISP is Web Africa, and I have a 2mb/s ADSL line(R165/pm which I pay through WebAfrica), and a 2mb/s Home Uncapped ADSL package (R185/pm), and then there's still Telkom I have to pay R189/pm for a fixed line rental.
For security I purchased a 5 year PureVPN subscription (which was around a R1000), and I use that to download movies and series not legally available on VOD in SA, and to watch illegal sports streams, and BBC, ITV, Comedy Central, Crackle, etc.
I'm subscribed to UFC fightpass, which is $9.99/pm (that is around R163 this month with the crappy Rand, Dollar exchange atm, but I love MMA)
For music, I'm subscribed to Deezer (59.99/pm) and they have a huge selection of local music, and I use Deezer to download and listen to music offline.
Hardware is nothing fancy, an HP Laptop, 3TB external hard drive, connected to my 22" TV, which is connected to a 2:1 sound system, a samsung J5 smartphone, and a samsung galaxy tab4, is my setup.
I left a lot out, but that's a decent break down of my home entertainment atm.
Umm, as far as I know, using a VPN or UnoTelly to access Netflix in SA is not legal by any stretch of imagination.
I'm no expert on the matter and last did research into this some years ago. Does your method involve any other steps apart from a VPN service to fool Netflix into thinking you have an American IP and to hide the stream from our authorities?
Edit: Its an older article, but it checks out..
Well after setting up my account and using it last night here is my review. NOTE: I've been using netflix/Hulu for 2years or so via UnoTelly and I'm on a 10mb ADSL line which allows High/HD streaming on netflix/hulu 90% of the time.
Pros
Cons
Overall, not bad ShowMax not bad ... but UI/UX is important especial for a visual product like TV/Movies.
I'm going to run it for a month and see how/if it improves.
I watch netflix on my s4 and ipad on telkom mobile and it works well. I use TunnelBear VPN ($4p/m) which works well for me. No buffering issues so far. On PC (wifi tethering) I use hola extension for chrome, so no proxy there. I'd search for a DNS service if you plan to use it on your tv, but 4mbps should be fine. Also, worth noting that I use my standard fnb cheque card for Netflix, TunnelBear, apple account, play store etc, and it works fine. No need to have to deal with 3rd party us credit companies. Just my standard fnb cheque account with a us address and zip code.
Within philosophy there's different mindsets with which you can approach an idea. All of them is a single interpretation.
This particular comment is from a stoic perspective. It's not wrong, but it's not fair to interpret life like this.
The stoics held this outset on life as particularly attractive due to their circumstances at the time: people would die from a single stab wound, if you got a disease you would be unlikely to survive. Life was a bet on getting to adulthood, and having a meaningful impact, at best. The mindset was a method with which to cope with the thought that human beings were not able to change their destiny, only to respond to what is presented to them with contempt, as something that happens without reason or preference. Everyone is equal... unless they are not.
A counter argument to this comment is people who are handed a position purely due to circumstances, not merit. People like Trump who got "a million dollar loan" and got rich.

What happened was during the negotiations, the NP managed to negotiate for an independent reserve bank and get the minister of finance. Whereas political power was held by the ANC, economic power effectively remained as it was, in the hands of large white owned businesses and at the mercy of foreign investors. GAAT economists were brought in as experts to help SA come right (much like what happened in Russia)
This all went against the principles of most ANC members and Mandela but was championed by Mbeki.
They effectively constrained the ANC's ability to help the majority of people in SA. As a consequence economic inequality has become even worse since 1994 - it's now the worst into the world. Read Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine" or "Thabo Mbeki and the battle for the soul of the ANC".

Hey sorry for the late reply, wasn't at my computer for most of the weekend.
First of all, thanks for the comment! Then regarding your question, I learnt R in my mathematical statistics courses that I took at university. However, I keep on trying to learn new things through the web and can almost say that at this stage I have almost learnt more from great blog posts and online courses. For example the link below is an online Introduction to R course that I think is a great place to start, if you are new to the language and interested in picking it up.
https://www.coursera.org/course/rprog
Whether you should learn R, depends on many things and I would recommend doing a few google searches for blog posts on the topic. In my experience CompSci students get to know Python quite well and many of the things you can do in R can also be achieved using Python. So maybe if you are in this boat, it might just be the case that you need to learn a few new things using the language you already know.
Hi all!
I tried completing the survey, however ran into two problems.
The formatting is very difficult to read for the likert type questions. (It might just be on chrome).
I cant deselect an already selected option, and can even select all possible likert options for a single question.
Overall, I think it might be the program that you're running. If you can convince your supervisor, maybe try to change to something more robust like SurveyMonkey (you can use the free option) before the loss or damadge to your data becomes too severe.
Best of luck with this tough.
I'm not the person you replied to, but I've gone through a few immigrations in my early life, so I can probably comment. The first point I'd make is that you don't necessarily need to be fluent in a country's primary language (though it's often useful and scores points on points-based immigration applications, if you have some kind of proper certification in the language). As an example, my mom could barely speak a word of English when we moved to SA, but somehow managed to land a job (again, you're at a disadvantage, but if you have good qualifications and aim for a lower job, it compensates). Over the next few months / years, she managed to learn enough to be able to sufficiently communicate. Since English is almost the world's de-facto 2nd language, you can often find people that understand you, to the point where I've been advised that you e.g. "don't really need to speak German" if you want a programming job in Berlin.
The second thing is that in today's internet age, there are ridiculous amounts of resources available to learn languages. There are free ones, like openculture as well as expensive paid apps which often come with one-on-one native speaker tutoring. You can also tune in to their radios over the internet, or listen to podcasts, or whatever. One idea I toyed with a few times is to install a PC game in an alternate language, and then just sit there with a dictionary. However you go about it, I would suggest immersion, i.e. large amounts of time dedicated to the language. For whatever reason, it seems to work a lot better than spreading out the same time over a longer period.
"First language Afrikaans speakers sometimes have problems pronouncing the “th” sound as it is not commonly found in the Afrikaans language. They then usually pronounce it as an “f”
So this is poking a bit of fun at that aspect"
If you need any help with song meanings, Genius has you sorted:
My first few jobs were in waitering / bar. Not the most glamorous but they can pay the bills. Working bar is usually more fun than sitting at home alone all day.
If you are going to sit at home have a look at coursera . Maybe once you have completed some of the courses on there try something from elance.com or similar (I have not used any but some people make money like that).
Failure is not that bad! Its how one gets better. I cant find the link now but I was reading something about financing a startup where the autor claimed that if he did not hear "no" 10 times a day he was not asking for enough. My first job was acquired in the 12th restaurant I applied at.
Exercise is also important, fun and free. Try substituting a walk with a run and see if you can complete the http://www.hundredpushups.com/ program.
Go for skills for the future job market you can teach yourself, things like computer programming and web development. Take a look at websites like Coursera and Stanford Online, they have a huge selection of self-study as well as presented courses. The benefit here is that you can manage your own time.
If you need more specific recommendations you will need to tell us what you are interested in else the suggestions will range from systems engineering to flower arrangement.
I looked on Airbnb and there are places for under R500-R600 a night in Sea Point, Llandudno, Green Point and Camps Bay. These are upmarket areas, super safe, awesome views, and plenty things to do. Some of the accommodation offers things like jaccuzis, projector screen movies, etc. An Uber to the dutch embassy (I know where it is, not in Woodstock, same distance as the places above pretty much) will cost you R80-R120 each way I'm guessing.
Something like this looks great: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4646142?checkin=06%2F07%2F2015&checkout=06%2F10%2F2015&guests=2&s=vXn-#reviews
You'll need to use another exchange to actually get bitcoin to send. It's a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get it it's very cool. Use https://www.coinbase.com/ or https://www.kraken.com/ buy your bitcoin, get her bitcoin wallet address and send the bitcoin to it, she receives it instantly and can sell it on bitx after about 30minutes (3x confirmation blocks at 10mins each), then withdrawal to bank is same day on business days.
Ads are not going to pay your bills unless your website is very popular (statistically it will almost definitely not be).
Do your development locally. Don't bother hosting with a domain and server until you've got a complete website .
Use github for version control, they also allow you to host your content (https://pages.github.com/).
If you intend on creating a product sign up for BizSpark, you get a lot of free credits for azure which will more than cover your hosting.
Uhh the nominal value of a currency doesn't indicate the strength of a currency, and the nominal value has no impact on the percentage change. So that's all wrong unfortunately.
Here's Yen to USD for comparison - you'll notice Yen did not lose value compared to USD despite being ~110 to USD.

Those are the options I could think of for you at the moment. Hope it helps :)
Try wise.com . They have lower fees compared to banks for international stuff, I transfer € to SA every month like that.
Paypal too, if you can get that as a donation in their system and not a payment for good/services. And if your bank allows you to transfer money to your account from paypal.
From this post(See link) it points to the absa app simply detecting magisk. I'll attempt the work around sometime next week and report back - https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/banking-app-barclays-variant-absa-bank-t3824337/amp/
>racism requires a power dynamic
Oh, you're one of those.
No, I'll stick to the definition ordinary people use, not the SJW mental gymnastics version that they use to excuse their own bigotry:
>n. discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of another race
>n. the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races
You get can get a couple of very good courses online at Udemy.com at high discounts. There's a bunch of subjects to choose from. It's not going to get you credentials but it will teach you a lot of valuable knowledge that, if you have the dedication, you can use to either start your own business or create impressive projects for your personal portfolio. If you can apply what you learn there in a way that you can show to employers, guarantee you'll have a better chance than most graduate students with their years of studying because you have actual experience and something to show minus the debt.
It'll also help a lot for you to test out a couple of subjects to get a feel for what you like. Courses in Coding, android development, web development, robotics, even online trading. Browse a bit, see what calls out to you and give it a shot.
I have previously used Byki/Transparent and Memrise. Transparent costs money and memrise is free. I think transparent has a demo version you can try.
Other than that, youtube is great and listening to music. Google afrikaans praat and you'll find a bunch of people just talking afrikaans. Not always the most interesting things, but still.
If you are discovering a new passion for stargazing, I could not recommend more a few nights stay up in the Twee Rivieren Rest Camp of the Kalahari. With the smooth landscape and lack of light pollution, the celestial sphere there is more crisp and vibrant than anywhere else I have experienced. The components of Pleiades were far more resolved to the naked eye than what I thought possible and I was stunned when I saw the Magellanic Clouds (Dwarf galaxy neighbors orbiting our Milky Way) rising in the southeast over our bungalow. At the time it would not have been visible, but you could probably get a decent view of the Andromeda galaxy to the north, which is also a spectacular sight simply with binoculars.
Research a little bit ahead of time with Stellarium, an open source planetarium that allows you to set location and time to see what would be possible to see. You can even custom input the specs of your binoculars or other telescopes to see what FOVs you could obtain.
The Mi Box on Takealot. And then Surfshark requires a subscription (I have the 2-year deal).
(Technically you don't need the Mi if your TV has access to the Google Play store, so just check if you can find the app)
You have to download the Surfshark app from the Play Store and sign in with your details. You then have to select a server you want to connect to (We, for example, connect to a British server). In the Connectivity options of Surfshark you can select Auto connect. In the Advanced settings tab, set the Override GPS Location on (look at me, hopping all over the world in an instant).
Some apps cache your data, so you will have to Google how to clear the cache (you can sign out and in as well). Or you can wait a while and the apps will update the cache.
Just a note, sometimes I struggle with apps to update the location, so it is not "the perfect" solution.
Also, the internet is full of these types of solutions, so it is but a mere search away.
Vyprvpn has a cell app.. 500mb free a month.. Couldn't that bypass the providers? Although.. If too many people used it, they would probably block that..
Edit: up to 2gb free if people sign up with referral code.. Shameless plug: https://vyprvpn.com/refer?ar=7c9ts7q7aldm4_1
If it does end up behind a paywall, chances are it'll end up being covered by this handy add-on for Firefox and Chrome :
https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome/blob/master/README.md
If not, you can always ask Gabriel to add it, he seems to love the challenge.
There's a book about the relationship "The Unspoken Alliance: Israel's Secret Relationship with Apartheid South Africa"
https://www.amazon.com/Unspoken-Alliance-Israels-Relationship-Apartheid/dp/0307388506
Look for Simba Chutney Chips or Willard's Chutney Chips. Not sure if you can find them cheaper, but here's some on Amazon: Simba Mrs Balls Chutney Flavoured Potato Chips 125g - Pack of 6 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017YM1CZ8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_sPRcGb5MAC6EX
These are the machines used to slice biltong:
http://www.catermarket.co.za/food-preparation/biltong-slicers.html
I'm not sure if a mandolin slicer will have enough force to cut cleanly. Best thing I found in a quick Amazon search:
I'm seeing many results for many things. If you know what you're looking for, say a Gundam poster, Google for Gundam poster site:za. The "site:za" restricts search results to South Africa. However, most of the results are pretty bad.
Overseas online stores is also an option. Amazon, for example, has many results including this guy. I'm not gonna suggest any thing else, as Amazon package are at least coming through fairly quickly.
As a start to learning some basic Afrikaans words and phrases from scratch on your own, i would recommend the Beginner Afrikaans app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.shex.beginnerafrikaans&hl=en_US
For anyone here that is interested, you could easily begin learning on your own some basic Xhosa words and phrases from scratch for free with simple but efficient flashcard apps like the Beginner Xhosa app and the StartFromZero_Xhosa app.
Just to share, for learning the vocabulary of Xhosa (or Zulu), you could try using flashcard apps like the StartFromZero_Xhosa app and the Beginner Xhosa app.
As far as the basic Zulu vocabulary is concerned, try using flashcard tools like the Beginner Zulu app and the StartFromZero_Zulu app to easily begin learning some common Zulu words and phrases from scratch at your own pace and convenience.
You should ask all of this their customer support, they are the ones who know best which servers are the fastest and stuff like that. I always get good speeds with NordVPN but always ask their support which ones to choose, they have a live chat so they will provide you with an answer in seconds.
I tried using NordVPN on a 100mb line the other day. It worked, but Netflix wouldn’t even stream in HD, let alone 4K. However, I can say that I was able to connect to the US Netflix with no issues
They’ve got a 3 day trial so give it a try
Pretty much how I've been using Spotify for the last 2years or so without issue.
Ive used ExpressVPN and IVPN and both work well and are easy to setup and use (and work for netflix/hbo/iPlayer etc)
Unotelly still works you just need to use the TEST US or TEST#1/2/3 options. Probably change them up once a week.
But yeah, wont pay for it in SA until they bring their catalog in. So I'll happily pay for a US account and UnoTelly.
Yep, UnoTelly. I only mention Netflix in South Africa because that will more than ever push for the internet being the only content provider
UnoTelly is a much better option. Services like Hola and ZenMate reduce your speed. UnoTelly costs around R600 for a year subscription (R50 a month) and I can stream Netflix from any region in HD using a 10mb line.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. What I mean is that Unlocator seems to have multiple edge devices globally allowing you to switch your region quickly and easily, effectively giving you access to all Netflix content across all regions.
I use Unlocator's DNS service; works pretty flawlessly - it's pretty much the same concept as updating a dynamic DNS with your current IP, so less overhead than a VPN. I think it's $5 per month? But it also offers access to other bundles like Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc.
Oh joy. No more Netflix in SA, instead we will get a generic version by Monochoice UAE that costs triple the price and has almost no interesting content. Fuck. Off. I'll stick with Netflix and UnoTelly.
This is why we can't have nice things.
