Then you better play old diablo games instead.
Edit, since this is the top comment:
The game in the OP is called Space Vikings. You can play it right in your browser on airconsole.com.
Edit again: there‘s /r/airconsole btw
A combination of the two. Basically it uses the internet servers to establish a connection and then connects the two devices directly. The result is a very small delay (like 5-10ms) and you don't need to be in the same wifi.
Edit: Pasting this here since the person who asked where they can play it is being downvoted:
Here's a link to the game, it's called Skyrunners.
(if you're unfamiliar with AirConsole: you can try it for free, but we have a premium subscription for more features and convenience)
It's called Space Vikings, and it's available on AirConsole, meaning you can play it in your browser without installing anything.
I‘m not familiar with King of Thieves and I wasn‘t present for the first few concept discussions, so I‘m not sure if it was an inspiration.
What I do know is that it happens a ton in any creative industry that you come up with something original and realize later on that someone else is doing a very similar thing.
Edit: people are DMing me for the game, so I‘ll drop a link here: it‘s called Space Vikings and you can play it in your browser via AirConsole.
Yeah, that's the intro sequence/trailer.
Here's a look at some gameplay footage, and here is the link to the game itself (it's on AirConsole, so everyone uses their smartphones to control one tank) :)
If you decide to give it a go, let us know what you think!
This is just fluff, of course, hope it's okay to post anyway ^^. I thought it would fit since we occasionally talk about female representation in game development and that sorta thing in this subreddit.
Edit: it's prize, not price, right?
Edit again: Since most of you are probably not familiar with what I do (although I have mentioned it a few times here now, tell me when it's too much self promo):
AirConsole (/r/airconsole) is a web-based platform for local multiplayer games.
I didn't develop the platform itself, but I so make games for it and am part of the core team. We're a small startup of six people, based in Zurich, Switzerland. The German Developer Awards are open to Swiss and Austrian developers as well.
Not sure if there are many local multiplayer fans here, but if you wanna give it a go, here's a link. :)
(if you're unfamiliar with AirConsole: you can try it for free, but we have a premium subscription for more features and convenience.)
I was only involved in this game in some project management, the actual development is by Disparity Games from Australia.
I've posted about AirConsole games here before (I recently shared Dust Squad - Tanks for Nothing, where I did all the coding), so you all just let me know if I'm becoming obnoxious.
I don't want to spam, but I figured this game might fit since it was made by a majority female team and half the playable characters are female.
Maybe https://www.airconsole.com/ ?
There's nothing particularly "European" about it per se, but we're based in Europe.
It's a website where you can play local multiplayer games together on one screen and everyone uses their smartphone as the controller.
It's free, and we've got over 40 games now.
Haha, that's lovely! :D
I work for AirConsole. It's a website that lets people play local multiplayer games on one computer with everyone using their phones as controllers.
Here's how that looks in action.
It's for casual party games, couch co-op and social games. You can try it for free or get a subscription for the full version.
And while I'm advertising, let me just drop some codes for AirConsole Hero (our premium subscription) here:
(to use one, download the AirConsole app and enter this code on the numpad before connecting to a session, they're valid for 30 days from the moment you enter it)
And this is the game that I worked on most recently, Dust Squad - Tanks for Nothing.
Try it for yourself and see how it feels.
The advantage of using phones for local multiplayer games is that you never have to worry about having enough gamepads.
And AirConsole doesn't need you to download an app, you can also just use the mobile browser if you wanna get started quickly. 'Synchronization' happens by entering a code on the phone, which takes like 10s tops.
I'm soooo excited to see this coming along.
We're two people working on this game for about 11 months now and it'll be launched on AirConsole in December. :)
It's on AirConsole, here's a direct link. :)
(if you're unfamiliar with AirConsole: you can try it for free, but we have a premium subscription for more features and convenience)
You don't need AirConsole Hero to play it, the game's free (playable here)
With Hero, you just get some extra content in some games (not this one at the moment though), and no interruptions.
Unfortunately, owning the Steam version doesn't get you Hero.
But you know what, here's some codes to try AirConsole Hero for free. First come first served:
(to redeem, just enter these instead of a connection code in your AirConsole app. They'll be valid for 30 days)
Edit: all codes taken, have fun people :)
For a little bit of context: AirConsole is a platform where you can play local multiplayer games with a smartphones.
We've been experimenting with original game mechanics that use the phone's display for asymmetric gameplay and all that, but we also wanted to have a brawler for a while, since that genre's such a staple of local multiplayer gaming.
So we put a lot of thought and experimentation into how the controllers could work, and the final version of the game has two controller scheme variations. In the one you see here, the player can walk left and right, and can jump. And for the attacks, there's this pad on which you can tap, hold or swipe in any direction.
I'm only loosely involved with the game's development (didn't do any programming on this one myself) but I'm pretty happy with how the controls feel.
If you want to try it for yourself and tell us what you think: The game's called Brawlanders and you can play it here.
(for free with some limitations, AirConsole offers a subscription for full features/comfort)
The very first one was a little arcade game with GameMaker that we called "What the Fluff". You had to collect monsters and evade cute creatures. Haven't looked at it in like 5 years, but it was a decent very first project, made within 3 weeks and without knowing how to write a line of code.
My first "bigger" (2 people, ~3months of work) project was this adventure game called Murder in Venice. It's not pretty outside of the cartoony cutscenes, but it got some bits of praise here and there. It's about 20-40min of playtime, can be downloaded from the link above. Rock Paper Shotgun even wrote a short article about it, which was the height of my pride three years ago! :D
And then my first commercial project, which I've worked on in 2015/2016, is Silly World Seres, a minigame collection for 1-8 players.
You can get a premium subscription called AirConsole Hero. Here's some info about the versions/differences.
>Do you work for airconsole, or did you just get your game published there? I'm so curious, it's such a cool platform!
I work for AirConsole, I'm involved in this game as project management/QA/coordination
Not entiely unknown, but I still have to explain what it is to most people: a page where you can play local multiplayer games and every player uses their smartphone to join.
I do! Am working on my own horse game, but since I have a full time job (making and managing games for AirConsole), it'll take me forever to get anywhere with it :)
Sure.
The game lets player control their respective tank using their smartphone (the game is on AirConsole).
There, you have one joystick-like swipe pad to control your direction and one button to accelerate. The second button is for firing. How exactly firing works depends on which weapon you have selected. There's a laser and a gatling gun, where you hold to fire, a cannon where you tap once to fire a straight shot, and a howitzer where you fire further the longer you hold the button before releasing it.
You can give it a go for free if you wanna get an impression. :) (The cannon is the default weapon, you can unlock other ones once you get onto the second island / complete the first two levels)
Here's the full video, with audio
We've been putting a lot of time and work into offering quality games on AirConsole and we're pretty proud of these new additions.
But of course, there's always new stuff to add and things to improve, so if you have requests for games that you'd like to see on the platform, or if you have some impressions/comments from the video that you'd like to share, I'd love to hear them!
I can give out a few codes for a free month AirConsole Hero in return for valuable feedback, if you like :)
In case you're not familiar with AirConsole : it's a website where you can play local multiplayer games using your smartphones as controllers. There's a free version, and a full version (AirConsole Hero) for 2.99$ per month.
We have two games on AirConsole (phone as controller) that work in this way:
The former is a Werewolf-like (and venetian masquerade-themed) game that you only need 2 players for - it's more fun with a slightly bigger group though.
The latter needs 5-10 players to play and is space/scifi themed.
Both give you a secret role and don't require a game master. MM works with audio a lot, while Simoria is mostly text-based apart from the tutorial.
One player will need to start a Hero subscription to be able to play with more than 2 people (first month free, 2.99$ afterwards if you decide to stay).
To anyone who hasn't heard of us: AirConsole is a web-based platform for Local Multiplayer games played together on one big screen but controlled by smartphone.
We will be launching 1-2 of these games every week in the months to come, meaning you'll be able to play them for free on airconsole.com :)
If you want to stay up to date about new games on the platform, we try to keep people updated via /r/airconsole
So I'm assuming since this is for web games, people will usually post online multiplayer stuff.
However
For those who like web-based local multiplayer gaming, I recommend having a look at AirConsole :)
1 Smartphone per player needed, but no downloads or anything.
We're not really competing with FIFA, tbh.
To play FIFA, you need a console or good gaming PC and a controller for every player. To play Final Goal (our game, which you see in the video), you just need a laptop and some smartphones.
Naturally, Final Goal was made by a much smaller team and on a much smaller budget, so we don't quite have AAA graphics and no licensed player names, but on the plus side: this can be played with equipment that you're much more likely to have on you when you go to watch a football match somewhere.
Aktuelles Projekt ist Dust Squad: Tanks for Nothing.
Yeah they are :)
The game's on AirConsole, which is a website for games like that (local multiplayer, smartphone controllers)
The virtual joystick controls are always a bit suboptimal, but it turned out better than I expected for this game.
You can give it a go here, if you're curious :)
In case you're not familiar with AirConsole: it's a website for local multiplayer games that you control using smartphones. There's a free version, but it has a premium subscription for some extra features/convenience.
The game's also gonna be released on Steam sometime this month!
Accelerometer controls can feel fidgety with AirConsole because there is a tiny additional delay before the phone registers the input and sends it.
We do have gyroscope-controlled games on the platform though, if you want to try something else:
Tiles of Doom, for example, or Golfriends (need to select gyro input mode for that one). In a few weeks, we'll also have a volley ball kind of game with gyroscope controls. We're still experimenting.
Haha, I'd do it but I'm still very busy working on Silly World Series right now :D
Post it to our game suggestion thread though, that way we surely won't forget!
Game saving is possible on AirConsole via the persistentData API calls, but the developers of individual games have to do it during development.
You could use the AirConsole Help to let the devs of PolyBusiness know that this is a feature you'd like to see.
Various other AirConsole games already do save your progress in some way or another. :)
If BroForce is on your radar, check out the free spin-off ExpendaBros.
Check out AirConsole , some gems on there.
If Smash Bros is one you like and you don't want to emulate it, check out BrawlHalla.
SpeedRunners is amazing for local play.
For a Mario Bros alternative, (assuming you mean general platformer) then Battleblock Theatre might be up your alley.
Thank you!
I uploaded a playable build last week - it's very rough around the edges (or more than the edges), but if you'd like to give it a go, I'm super glad for any feedback/first impressions.
You can play it in the browser (of your computer), just need a smartphone (or several) to control.
There are various games on AirConsole that support 8 or more players (there are 70+ games, player numbers are labelled in the store)
There was also this thread a while back about "8-12 player local multiplayer games"
Have a look at that platform, they have libraries for Unity that will allow you to do what you want to do and you can even release your game on there if you want.
What would you like to know? :)
AirConsole is a platform for playing casual party games with friends in the same room, everyone using their smartphones as controllers. You can try it right here.
If you're a developer and interested in making such a game yourself, I recommend you start out here to get some basic info.
Hey there!
The game selection is the same regardless of which country you're in, and we have not removed any games.
You can always see all available games here: https://www.airconsole.com/play/ (currently 130 titles)
A reason for not seeing all games could be that the device you're using may not be powerful enough to run them. For example, if you're using a tablet or smartTV or a very old computer.
You can try the game in the video here, if you're interested. (There's a free trial)
We get latency (i.e. input delay) of only around 10ms or even less, if the internet connection's decent.
You can find more info here, if you're interested in the technical side of it.
The first game my colleague and I made for the platform was sort of Mario Party inspired: Silly World Series.
We're a team of two and we worked on it for a year, so naturally, it doesn't have nearly the amount of content something like Mario Party is, but it is for 8 players.
We've been a bit hesitant to spend time optimizing games for 8+ players since so few people actually use that. (in Silly World Series, only 0.8% of sessions are played with 8 people, for instance)
I'm not one of the developers, but I was involved in consulting and porting support. I never know how to add that to post titles, so I hope my flair will do in order to distinguish this as a self promo post. :)
Completely agree with what you're saying.
> Or some party games like Jackbox and Drawful that anyone can play from their phone, only you need to own a copy.
Let me also (selfishly) throw AirConsole in there as a suggestion for smartphone-controlled party games, because unlike Jackbox, you can play AirConsole games for free, albeit with some limitations.
They definitely exist. The genre you're looking for is local multiplayer games.
Here's a big list of some popular ones.
Since I work on a whole platform of local multiplayer games myself let me also recommend having a look at AirConsole. It's on one computer, but not on one keyboard, since both (or more) players would be using their smartphones as controllers. If that's an option for you, check it out.
You can find a lot of casual local co op games on AirConsole. Doesn't use USB gamepads, but smartphones as controllers, which might even be preferable if your girlfriend is not used to using a gamepad.
Perhaps some games on AirConsole would be for you? It's a web-base platform for couch multiplayer games where everyone uses their smartphones as controllers.
It's got over 75 different games, best ones are usually featured at the top :)
Disclaimer: This is self promo, I make games for AirConsole.
I haven't had time all week and am looking forward to playing tons of Tomb Raider IV - The Last Revelation this weekend.
After starting a playthrough of literally every Tomb Raider game ever sometime last year, I've finally found time and motivation to continue. Still looking forward to Legend and still dreading replaying the reboot because it just strayed soooo far from everything I like about the series.
Also, since this is free for all, let me drop a bit of self promotion:
If you're a game developer, you might be interested in the AirConsole 25k Game Dev Contest - make a game that uses smartphones as controllers until the end of October and win up to 25.000$. Info here.
Sorry for the title-gore, but I wanted to have as much info as possible in there and the rules specify that self promo has to be clearly disclosed ^^
Actually, we're trying to create something like Mario Party with Silly World Series.
It's got nowhere near as much content as Mario Party yet, but we will keep adding new games.
At the moment, you don't move around on a board yet, but games are shown on a world map and you play minigames against each other - it's for 1-8 players.
I develop games for a platform called AirConsole. It's designed specifically for local multiplayer games, which run in the browser and are controlled by smartphones. Meaning: you don't need additional controllers, every player just brings their smartphone.
If something casual is okay, check out AirConsole. It's a platform for local multiplayer games that are played in the browser and controlled by smartphones. A lot of our games support up to 8 people, some even more.
If you want digital board games, make them for tablets. You can take them easily with you, you can put them in the middle of a table on the board, and give them around for each player.
Several good board games for tablets, including ticket for ride, already exists.
For a tv screen/computer screen at home why wouldnt you play something like jack box, or https://www.airconsole.com/ (which also has board games/card games).
So the thing you want to do already exists, but with more games than just board games.
I FOUND IT. :)
https://www.airconsole.com/play/cooperative-games/rakete
Unfortunately since I last played it, it is now behind a subscription fee on the website
Across all 5 posts, only 5 people commented. So... CONGRATULATIONS! You’re all winners! Thanks for participating. Expect a DM in the next couple minutes (If I missed you, please dm me). To play Meexarps, visit our homepage. You can also play other airconsole games too! I hope playing this game brings you and your friends/family closer together!
> , yeah i know it would be better to have controllers, but for some people dont have any controllers this is a great potion
Have you considered playing anything that uses Phones as controllers, or are you set on the keyboard?
If phones are an option, check out AirConsole.
(see this thread for more)
Again, just give it a go! When you connect a single phone to AirConsole, the store will show you a category of single player games. Most of those can also be played with more people, but they will be fun alone as well. :)
The Neighborhood is a good one to try first, it's easy to understand and you can play against AI.
> I am interested in the app, but have never tried it out, so no idea if you have ads right now
Why don't you give it a go? You can try the basic version for free right here.
Yeah absolutely, the secret info thing is cool, and we have a small handful of games on AirConsole that make use of it. Some hidden role games, some card game adaptations etc.
But absolutely a ton of untapped potential if you ask me!!
Aah, you mean Discover AirConsole.
We did some restructuring in the store and some experiments for which games to show first, and the Discover function wasn't our highest priority. You can access it directly over this link for the moment.
Thank you for the heads up though, we'll see about adding Discover to the store for everyone again.
>Was entwecklisch denn so för Games?
Ich schaffe für AirConsole, isch es startup für local multiplayer games us züri. Das wär susch mini portfolio websiite, wenns di interessiert, det hani chli meh info druf über alli projekt woni so dra bin.
It's technically possible to do that with AirConsole games (the ones that aren't action/timing based anyway). No integrated screensharing, but you can use something like Discord.
Some of our games are party games similar to what Jackbox offers.
Neither of you needs to 'own' the game, but there's a subscription that one of the players can get for the best experience.
OP of the post on /r/gaming here - thanks for sharing :)
For some context: The truck is running AirConsole, which is not a physical console, but a website. We have 120 Games and you use your smartphones as controllers for all of them. :)
If you're in Switzerland and want the AirConsole Party Mobile at an event near you, let us know.
If you're farther away, I recommend giving our games a go at home instead. The football/soccer game in the video is Final Goal.
It's a website, actually, and it's called AirConsole. You're on the airconsole subreddit, actually and all the info regarding it is in the sidebar - not sure how you got here, but welcome nonetheless ^^
You can try it for free right here, but the full version is 2.99$ a month. All these games are playable on there, most were developed by external teams but with the assistance and guidance of our core team.
There are several games that allow up to 8 players (and a handful that allow more) on AirConsole.
You'd need a premium account (2.99$/month) to play with that many people, but there's a free trial month if you just wanna give it a go.
Context: we're a startup from Zurich that makes video games. (AirConsole)
Di Leonardo is a bar in Zurich that offers public viewing for the WM.
We'll pay for your beer if you come there at around 6pm this Friday and play our game Final Goal with us on our partymobile.
I posted about the game's initial release a while back: so far, it offered 17 co-operative levels, but now you can also battle each other. Playable right here, have fun :D
The virtual joysticks are a bit of a compromise of course. Plus side is you can play with more people and don't need a controller for everyone, which lets you play pretty spontaneously.
You can play the free version of the game here, if you wanna try it for yourself.
To go onto this post, Never Have I Ever has a drinking mode built-in. But as Alice said, it is much more fun with more players. That said, I have played with with 2-3 players and had a blast. Hero is not required for the drinking option.
My Friends Are, also has a super secret version which you can find here which has a drinking mode option. Note: You must be an AirConsole Hero for this option to work.
If you don't mind the self promo: Our new game Dust Squad - Tanks for Nothing was just released and is couch co op. :)
The platform it's on, AirConsole, has a variety of couch co op games where every player uses their smartphone as the controller, so maybe you'll find something else for you guys there as well.
We just released a game called Penny's Farm on AirConsole. It's still an 'early' version (more content and an 'endless mode' will be added), but we already had tons of fun playing it. Link.
It won our recent game dev contest and I'm super stoked about having it on the platform.
Eon Altar might be worth checking out, it's pretty unique.
Helldivers is a fantastic and hilarious co-op experience.
If you'll forgive me the self promotion, you might also want to check out AirConsole - it's a website for local multiplayer games and lots of them allow 4 or more players.
On there, you'll find a lot of more casual games, some that are tricky/puzzly/difficult, but currently nothing yet with a complex loot / progression system.
Puzzle Action game for 1-6 players.
Play
It runs in browser, but you need a smartphone for each player you want to add.
It's the first time I made a WebGL build with Web Assembly. Seems to work so far, except that the loading screen (the AirConsole Logo) flashes up at times.

Feedback wanted:
If you're having any technical issues, please tell me what browser (pc and phone) you used.
Please also let me know how many people you played with.
Thanks in advance! :)
Yes, the blur is a post processing thing. Would have to ask the artist (/u/gamedevM) about more details.
The thing with the direction indicator is something I'm still unsure about myself. This game will be controlled by smartphone input (AirConsole), so there are a few milliseconds of latency. At first, I moved the direction indicator instantly, because that's the most immediate feedback, so the player really sees where they're going with as little delay as possible.
I've added some interpolation because it looked even choppier. If I interpolate the direction indicator more, it might look a bit cooler on video, but I'm not sure if it will feel like too much latency between input on the phone and reaction on the computer screen.
But that's something I'll have to ask playtesters, it's impossible to tell from seeing a gameplay gif alone. I will definitely look into it again though.
I'm following you on twitter now, so if you post about sth you made, I'll see :)
I myself work for AirConsole, making local multiplayer / party games that people play in the browser with their smartphones as controllers. Main project I've worked on is Silly World Series :)
One more thing:
Of the games currently live in the store, only two qualify for the contest. (I.e. they were submitted to the store after the last contest)
From the top of my head, all other titles have either been submitted to a previous contest or have been funded by AirConsole and are thus ineligible.
/u/AliceTheGamedev, do you know of a way of getting gyroscope controls on iOS working on Airconsole?
I've got both the deviceorientation event and gyronorm library working on an iPhone without Airconsole.
When I:
They fail: "Blocked attempt add device motion or orientation listener from child frame that wasn't the same security origin as the main page."
I'm assuming this is because the Airconsole web app is served from https://www.airconsole.com, while the game controller files are served either from your local IP (during testing) or from the Google CDN (when uploaded).
My JS knowledge isn't extensive so I might be missing something here...
edit: This is in reference to getting the gyroscope alpha, beta and gamma values. I haven't looked into what extent I can get accelerometer data (which I think is easier) and try to achieve what the gyro would (I'll do that tomorrow!)
We've got a couple of minigame collection type games on AirConsole, although none of them have the 'board game' part:
You can play them for free in your browser and use your smartphones as controllers.
8Bit Fiesta is the 51st local multiplayer game on AirConsole :)
This game just won our game dev contest - it wasn't originally designed for AirConsole, but released on Steam in last September.
I'm not involved with the development of the game itself though.
^^I ^^hope ^^with ^^my ^^flair ^^declaring ^^me ^^as ^^part ^^of ^^the ^^AirConsole ^^team, ^^my ^^post ^^title ^^is ^^okay ^^regarding ^^the ^^self ^^promo ^^rules.
ZL;NG: Ich reddite professionell. ^^^/s
So I've never actually played micromachines (PS1 was before my time), but from what I know, Racing Wars has similar mechanics. So if you wanna scratch that itch, but don't own a PS1 anymore, maybe give this one a go.
>Think Mario Kart or Mario Party (there's a clear winner but no one will get mad if it's not them).
Oh boy, I've been playing those wrong then. ^^
Maybe you find something you like on AirConsole? We're a platform focused on local multiplayer games that each player controls with their smartphone, but with the main gameplay happening on one big screen.
A lot of our games are kind of 'casual' in the sense that you can get into them pretty quickly.
The game I've been working on for about a year now (Silly World Series) was inspired by things like Mario Party, so that might be something for you?
If you have enough smartphones in your household to give one to each of the kids, you might want to have a look at AirConsole.
We have about 40 games to choose from, and the majority is family-friendly.
For some a bit 'lighter' entertainment: Have a look at AirConsole. It's a gaming platform where you use smartphones to control, so if he doesn't have one yet (which I assume) you would have to borrow one.
We have about 40 games on there and the vast majority are family friendly.
> Jackbox Party Pack, uses smart phones instead of controllers, Fibbage and Drawful are my favorite party video games ever, rest of the pack is bad.
Similar, but free: AirConsole. About 40 games right now, more to be added soon. Depth of gameplay varies from game to game, but we currently have several games in development that will feel a bit 'bigger' than what we have now.
You don't really need a dedicated distro for this, you can do it yourself :)
For demonstration purposes I'll tell you how to do this on ArchLinux, but you could do it on a distro of your choice.
1) Install sddm and openbox with pacman -S sddm openbox
2) Create a file at /usr/share/xsessions/airconsole.desktop containing the following
[Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=AirConsole Comment=Launch AirConsole inside chromium Exec=/usr/bin/chromium --auto-launch-at-startup --incognito --kiosk https://www.airconsole.com/#!kiosk TryExec=/usr/bin/chromium --auto-launch-at-startup --incognito --kiosk https://www.airconsole.com/#!kiosk Icon=google-chrome
3) Create a user to login as: useradd -m -G wheel -s /bin/bash username
4) Create an example sddm config: sddm --example-config > /etc/sddm.conf
5) In /etc/sddm.conf set Session=airconsole.desktop, User=username, Relogin=true
In theory, your Pi should now automatically boot straight up into chromium in kiosk mode, running airconsole in kiosk mode. You don't even need a mouse/keyboard attached, can just be a standalone airconsole appliance like you want! :)
Feel free to ask me if you have any questions
You may want to check out AirConsole. It's a site that turns your web browser into a controller. I wrote an article about them a few weeks ago and I got a chance to test out their games. They're simple, casual, local co-op multiplayer games. The games are also free. When I spoke with them, they said they don't have any plans to change that soon. If nothing else, it hits your price point!
I've never actually played any lego games myself for longer than 30 minutes, but from everything I've heard, they would fit very well.
On Wii, there's also stuff like Smash Bros and Mario Kart, but I know from experience that those can be a little frustrating if you play against someone with a lot more experience than yourself.
Apart from that: I work for a platform called AirConsole, which specializes in Local Multiplayer games. Our games are all free (no microtransactions) and smartphones are used as gamepads.
Most of our games are rather 'casual' and easy to get into, some are co-op, some are versus.
It's not PS4, but I work for a platform dedicated to making local multiplayer games: AirConsole.
It's completely free and all browser based, so I'd recommend hooking up a laptop or tablet to your TV. (Games and Store are controlled using Smartphones)
Are you looking for local multiplayer or online multiplayer?
In case of the former, I work for a browser-based gaming platform dedicated to local multiplayer games: AirConsole.
Most of our games allow 5 or more players.
Am I allowed to suggest the site I post my own games on?
If so: AirConsole :D
It's a browser-based gaming platform controlled by smartphone with a focus on local multiplayer games.
Hi, I'm Alice, I'm a game developer myself.
Here's my portfolio: http://aliceruppert.ch/
And here's the main project I'm working on right now (with a 2/5 female team): https://www.airconsole.com/
Please describe your problem in a bug report. That way the feedback gets sent to the developer of the game in question. I assume you're talking about the game "PolyBusiness".
TL;DR giving away 2 1-month airconsole codes on this thread! Answer the question to participate!
Happy New Year, everyone!
I'm the developer of Meexarps(trailer), a party game where you answer would-you-rathers and personality questions to learn what you know, or more importantly, what you don't know about your friends! It plays up to 6 players and unlimited audience. It’s playable on airconsole.com. You can demo the game for free with 2 players (a $$$ airconsole subscription is needed for more than 2 players)!
To celebrate the new year (and to promote the seasonal content before it expires at the end of January >.>) I'm giving away 2 airconsole 1-month subscriptions! With the subscription you can play Meexarps or any other airconsole game! To enter, answer the question below in the comments. 2 people will be randomly selected in this thread to win the prize on Saturday, January 16th around 12pm EST (I will post the winners and DM the codes). Find and post in equivalent threads on other subreddits to maximize your chances of winning! Note: only one person in your group needs an airconsole subscription to play.
Alright now for the question:
What is your generic holiday gift to give (that you might give to a teacher or an acquaintance)?

You mean using your computer as a controller for AirConsole games?
You can do either of these:
Note that both of these are relatively "hacky" workarounds intended as development tools and/or to test basic functionality without enough phones at hand. The user experience will be subpar and many games will not be particularly enjoyable when played with the mouse this way.
If you want to give it a try: The game is called Snowboard Buddies and is already available on AirConsole. Meaning: you can play it on your computer or Android TV, using smartphones as controllers.
I'm not allowed to do giveaways on here (for AirConsole Hero), but I recommend you check out the post at the top of /r/airconsole right now ;)
Obviously we don't have Nintendo type budgets over here, but I'm still super excited about being part of this. The game is called Mega Monster Party and you can play it on AirConsole if you want to give it a go!

Thanks! :D
>Any new game of this genre ?
Yes, actually! If you like Ridiculous Climbing I can only recommend checking out Mucho Muscle, it's even made by the creators of The Neighborhood.
Just in case you're not aware, AirConsole is a somewhat similar thing (party games with smartphones as controllers) and it has all games included in one premium subscription.
Looks pretty weak for $5 a month. Many of the reviews say the UI is bad and the games are buggy.
It's funny that Atari is partnering with a budget game producer who has off-brand versions of game IP that Atari actually owns. I guess at some point Atari had to decide whether to sue them like Target or partner with them:
