This is the response that I got; I'm hoping they're fine with listing this here.
> Since it is a new launch of FrootVPN, we decided to keep it free as long as we are able to run it. Resources are enough to keep it running for free at least a few months more, but we might rethink this very soon. Even if FrootVPN were to charge our users, it would be very low as compared to other providers out in the market. > > The people behind FrootVPN support freedom of speech and want the Internetz to be a uncensored place =)
> Are any of them free in the Torrent Freak list?
Not that I'm aware of. Was going to say FrootVPN.
But generally speaking good VPNs are never free.
use a VPN / Proxy based in Sweden (like FrootVPN) and go to . It's like a time machine to the good ol' days before Hulu... and all the episodes are in english! Better yet, all the commercials are in Swedish!
The device you use does not matter, only the connection you use. So if you are on your parent's router then yes this will still be a problem.
What you need is a VPN. The Pirate Bay is currently pushing FrootVPN, which is currently free. This will disguise your torrenting traffic so your ISP won't complain.
FrootVPN et fait des miracles pour le blocage de certains sites en Grande-Bretagne.
Les serveurs sont en Suède donc on est pas à l'abri de la NSA, mais pour le dernier album de Johnny ça devrait le faire.
There's one major advantage to a VPN service being based in the USA: No data retention laws. If they don't log data, then they can't fulfill any subpoena for data. I don't know where FrootVPN is based, but other VPN companies have run into this trouble.
That's what I usually say, but this was advertised by TPB prior to their last raid. So who knows, it's served me well and TPB's security recommendations are nothing to take lightly in my book.
Here's the content of their email to me:
"Hey there!
We are proud to announce that we are now live with a more stable version of FrootVPN. Major changes and upgrades have recently been made to be able to provide you with the best service possible.
Here are some notable changes: * Larger server pool * Upgraded network capacity * New website and control panel * USA location added, with more to come * Payment methods: PayPal, Bitcoin & Credit Cards * Paid service only, from as low as $3 a month
Also, since we are finally on our stable platform now, with squashed bugs and refined systems, we will be shutting down all FREE accounts in a weeks time, on June 25th. FrootVPN will continue its paid services and focus on that.
Regards, Team FrootVPN"
AT&T, Verizon, and others are are inserting a tracking ID into every communication that you send from your phone. So you visit websites or Twitter or any internet traffic, you'll have a unique identifier attached so websites or others can track and identify you. You are not able to eliminate this ID with software or opting out. To see the ID check out Here.

I've always had great luck with FrootVPN. Very fast too. They have 0 technical support though. I discovered recently I had a lifetime license to tiger VPN and have been using them recently. They are quick to respond and help, but they seem to cap out around 15 to 20 Mbit depending on traffic or time of day.
If you care enough about privacy to VPN, why go through a 3rd party? Who are these guys and why should I trust them? How do they pay their bills?
Edit: > But we had some resources over from other project and were able to launch FrootVPN.
They have "other project" that they're to shy about to mention? Really? Something smells here.
fair enough, correction accepted: they show you ads. Hardly the same thing as selling a subscription, which was what I was trying to convey, in relation to the FrootVPN also not being subscription based for the moment. I keep forgetting I must be verbose as fuck when replying.
So what is the catch?
If it seems too good it probably is.
EDIT: "we had some resources over from other project and were able to launch FrootVPN. We will run this service for free as long as we can. But we will eventually need to bring money in to be able to pay our bills."
So they are just trying to build up consumer base before setting up the price, which is fine as long as people are aware that it won't be free forever.
An option would be to invest in a VPN service that has US servers. FrootVPN is pretty straightforward with their services and it's not too expensive.
Edit: to add on, that way you can have the best of both. Exclusive European content as well as American exclusives.
FrootVPN. Was once recommended by Piratebay, takes BTC, painless config, many protocols, I think it's Swedish. 4 EUR/month if you pay monthly or 36 for 1yr.
Not sure if they're the best or fastest, but good enough for me.
Incorrect. A VPN simply provides you with a new IP address. They probably blocked the particular VPN in their recent security updates.
EDIT: Okay, that's not ALL a VPN does, but for the purpose of playing this game, it alters your IP address to the location of the VPN's host. Source: Me, who used FrootVPN recently and encountered the Swedish Google page while it was active.
Also, Xigncode is a shit program. That is all.
Okey, but I tried a VPN (FrootVPN) I still get the throtteling even if the VPN is on. I'm using PPTP protocol, may be its not the right way to do it ? I also have too much ping spikes to play correctely. I have another question, when i test to know what is my ip, 1/2 time i get an orange IP, the other possibility is getting another ISP IP, they firewall uses 2 ips dynamically or something ?
Torrentfreak just released an article on the service, apparently its run by friends of tpb?
Anyway here are some quotes >“The whole idea behind FrootVPN was to provide a free simple VPN service without any bandwidth limitations. Of course the maintenance isn’t free but we had some resources over from our other projects from which we were able to launch FrootVPN.”
and
>“The word has spread rapidly and we thank all our promoters including TPB for supporting us. We got 100,000 users within a week, which we never expected. However, this does indicate that we will be forced to charge something for the service in order to maintain it,”
Link to the article:
I torrent with Bit Torrent, use FrootVPN and that’s about it. Windows 10 has built in ISO mounting, so you can run the ISO no problem. If you won’t have it already, WinZip to unzip downloaded games. All the games come with instructions on how to get it running. Most will come with a “crack” folder, you just need to drag the contents of that folder to the install location, but that is listed in the instructions.
.
1-day old Reddit accounts bashing other VPNs in month-old discussion threads about VPNs while simultaneously promoting SigaVPN, is definitely spam. I wish Reddit's ban logs went deeper than 2-months otherwise I could pull up the handful of sockpuppets that SigaVPN uses to promote their service. The reason why the word VPN is blacklisted from title submissions is because SigaVPN and FrootVPN were always on the look up to shill their service.
Hello! I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your VPN. I'm not too familiar with FrootVPN, so hopefully someone with more knowledge can help you out.
Go to FrootVPN's site and check the FAQ's? They could have answers to some of your issues.
And also check to make sure you have configured it properly... check your IP on google by typing "whats my ip". Then, when you enable your VPN, google the same thing again and see if your IP changed.
I'm on mobile but I do hope I helped at least a little!
Watch shows by steaming on putlockers. If you torrent, get a good VPN, i use FrootVPN. You can also go to the starbucks in the commons on North and torrent on their wifi. UB also throttles torrents, as theyre faster over VPN than without.
Does FrootVPN's VPN client have any sort of kill switch & DNS Leak features? If so you should enable those, otherwise whenever the VPN connection drops out your real IP will leak out (leading to another DMCA).
Might be worth talking to FrootVPN's support about this if you're not sure.
I love it, I live in Albany NY, if the Sharks are playing a team close by chances are it's blocked by their bullshit blackout restriction crap. I use FrootVPN to get around that, it's 3 dollars a month.
Thanks for the quick reply!
Since FrootVPN is no longer free, do you have any suggestions of good VPNs which are free?
And it looks like .io is bigger on this sub, so I think I'll stick with that, just in case I have any questions in the future.
I used FrootVPN for the last day or so. No messages about atone trying to log in to my email account from anywhere. Service seems fairly fast and effective. But, it's brand new for me, so I will need more time to form a real judgement.
Take a look at FrootVPN. PirateBay had promoted them on their front page some time back.
A VPN service that doesn't store logs and is completely free without any data cap.
VPN's are not to expensive nowadays. You can get yourself started for like $4 or $5 a month. And as cheap as $35 a year. Which to me is a amazing deal!
But i understand, when you do not have to much money or the ability to buy it. FrootVPN is probably the best one for the "free" pricetag. Be aware that your data might be saved somewhere, so try to use it carefully.
FrootVPN was mentioned all over TPB site for awhile. Don't know how secure it is at this point since it was advertised by TPB. Easy to setup and account and free* to use. Easy integration and guides for Windows 7 & 8.
*Free to use until noted in the future
Okay! Just post them on TPB. They will ultimately up'ed on all of those sites like MAM, Bib etc. etc.
P.S: On second account, Do post them on Libgen. And, the whole process would be reverse. From libgen the books would be posted on TPB, MAM, bib etc. etc.
And, do not bother to post it on Scribd. (never) they are now paid site. They'll earn from your uploads and you won't get a penny at all. And, moreover if these books are copyrighted scribd will delete it within months or so. And, may be delete your account as well.
Edit: You could use FrootVPN. That's from TPB guys (unofficially) and free, secure and reliable.
There's no reason for alarm. FrootVPN is under the same ISP (Portlane Networks AB, based in Switzerland) as TPB, but the VPN servers were untouched, and are not monitored in any way. There's no other connection between the VPN and TPB, and no reason for the authorities to even bother FrootVPN, or any other VPN for that matter. A lot of people connected to TPB via a VPN, and there's a few other VPN's that also use Portlane, but VPN's are also used to do other things besides connect to pirate websites.
There's no massive witch hunt to track down all the pirates or people who want to remain anonymous, the authorities just took down a few pirate websites, and that's it.
You are still safe to use that VPN.
I just tested this for you. I use Private Internet Access and their openVPN client for Android. Connected to a different endpoint in the US from where I am located. Functionality on the watch remains the same as someone with uncensored internet.
If I say "OK Google, what is my IP?" my watch will give me the IP address of the VPN endpoint.
If I say "Navigate to the nearest Best Buy" or other location-based commands, it uses my GPS location, not my IP address location.
Notifications work just fine, as usual.
EDIT: If you want to do some testing for yourself, a new VPN service started up called FrootVPN and it offers free vpn service on PC and mobile devices.
I use FrootVPN, it's a Sweden based company. It used to be a bit more complex to setup, but now they have mobile apps, and their desktop is easy for the everyday user.
Here is their torrentfreak review.
More FrootVPN spam, same exact post here from a different throwaway Reddit account
It is clear you are a paid shill for FrootVPN
That was a while ago, at the time that VPN service was offering a free VPN
In any case they are no longer free, you can use any paid torrent friendly VPN service. There is nothing specific about FrootVPN that merits it better than the others. That said keep in mind FrootVPN does have shill accounts on Reddit so don't be too surprised if you get at least 1 Reddit account without much history telling you that FrootVPN is amazing.
PS - Check out /r/VPNTorrents for general questions on VPNs
I'm UK based - using their Stockholm (original) servers.
It's simple to use (Mac w/ Tunnelblick client), cheapish and not much slower than my ISP's local (default) servers ..... Does what it says on the tin!
Problematic: No kill-switch ... you'd have to use a third party app.
Edit: I believe the windows client now has a kill-switch.
Should be ok as long as your ISP's IP address is changing when your VPN is on? **** will show if your IP/DNS changes/leaks. Use it before and after (refresh when the VPN is on).
Seems like the VPN client is not working nicely with PT. You might try the OpenVPN (Tunnelblick) option if you want? ... I use it with FrootVPN and MacOS Sierra.
Edit: Remember somewhere - a VPN Client that wouldn't accept p2p on a different server because it had "cached" the first refusal. User had to reboot before it would "take" ..... just a thought!
No their was a difference between VPN and Proxy. VPN service provider encrypts all of your traffic, replacing your ISP and routing all traffic through the VPN server, including programs and applications you might be using on your laptop or smartphone. Like what my FrootVPN doing, while proxy server is completely browser-based. It is not as compatible with certain web pages that use non-browser technology. It also does not protect you or offer any additional benefits when using apps or desktop/laptop clients.
Of course theres a free VPN. BUT its not advisable to use one. Im p sure there are decent free ones HOWEVER most of them cannot be trusted. Their service is extremely costly and important the company would need money to keep the business going. So if its free how on earth do they keep it running ? I stick to FrootVPN even if its paid at least I know im safe.
A lot of articles already claim that there is no such thing as 100 anonymity at the end of the day it all comes down to how much you trust your VPN provider. Like for me for instance, I have been using FrootVPN for almost a year now and I feel safe when I use them
I suggest that you try FrootVPN. They have a money-back guarantee. But you can take my word that they are a good provider. Been using them for over a year now and they work like a charm. You should check out r/VPNreviews for more options if you like
Probably won't last long. They're using the same pricing model that FrootVPN used (trying to have enough paid users to offset the free ones). FrootVPN's free VPN didn't last, there were too many free users vs paid. VPN services have ongoing costs, not possible to keep it free without getting those costs paid somehow.
for reference:
I use with a DNS proxy and VPN (VPN for computer, DNS for AppleTV/Roku/TV etc). It's pretty great.
I personally use Unblock-US ($5/mo or $50/year) and FrootVPN ($5/mo or $35/year).
Just something to note is that it probably won't work on your mobile device as the MLB app uses your GPS location, not your IP to determine your location.
Perfectly safe - I've used the same method with PT and FrootVPN for years. You're only making the "discovery" with PT before using the VPN. The "unsafe" part (torrenting) is done after you connect your VPN .......... you're safe!
However, ATV3 "discovery" works behind my VPN ............. "go figure"?
Edit: It's always useful to learn PT works with the latest kit (CC Ultra) ............. Windows or Mac OS? Which version/build of Popcorntime?
I've used FrootVPN(was free) and PIA(paid for a year), both were acceptable for what I paid.
If you want recommendations, I would look into this site, which gives a very broad overview of many VPN providers .
I tried gaming with a vpn multiple times, on the same continent, pings were about 10-30ms higher, for slow paced games that is probably still ok.
VPN providers normally provide multiple ways for connecting to their vpn, all I looked at had the option to connect with the OpenVPN client, which is also available on linux. A good VPN itself is not Client Operating System dependent.
May I ask, why do you want to play on a VPN?
edit:
I'm currently looking into iVPN, with multihop, they also have good guides in my opnion
As long as privacy isn't a concern, you could use a free VPN as well. In college, I used FrootVPN Beta, which is now just another standard VPN. Likewise, OpenVPN servers keep logs, but it's free and will beat subvert the censoring of internet connections. Since they keep logs and comply with government warrants, you wouldn't necessarily want to pirate through their service. Obviously VPNs like Hola with a history of malware and malevolence wouldn't be recommended at all... do your homework on a company before you decide on their "free" VPN service - some
Alternatively, you could use a sketchily low-cost, historyless VPN which might be trying to build a name for itself before going full-price.
I downloaded the windows configuration file from the FrootVPN installation guide and found the parameters "fragment" and "mssfix" are not present. Both of them are related to performance problems when using an OpenVPN UDP connection.
Try to add the following to the OpenVPN config file and see if it makes a difference:
fragment 1300 mssfix
I too had some minor performance problems before my provider added them. It wasn't very serious, but the download speed wasn't very constant. After the paramters where added the speed was constant and never had any issues since on Windows 7 or 10.
If this doesn't help maybe you should contact FrootVPN?
Always good to hear from former .io members ........ who keep the "flag flying!" Hope apimo is well.
I too still prefer using the patched ............. and for my part - FrootVPN: As with u/Luretrix's (and your) choice, it gives essential security without any fuss.)
But whatever VPN anyone chooses - keep your personal details separate and secure ................. Especially if your thinking of running a famous (mega-illegal) torrenting site!
I love FrootVPN, it runs about $3 a month and I can cap my up and downstream bandwidth no problem.
You might want to look at the VPN sub Reddit though, they have a great spread sheet showing cost, what records (if any) are kept, and who they answer to if a government comes after them. And of course they'll get you started on how to set it up properly.
Also, Buffalo (a brand of networking equipment) sells a feature rich wireless router that will connect to the VPN for you, providing protection to everyone on your network. Might depend on your VPN provider though.
I have reason to believe that my University internet (hard wired, not WiFi) is preventing me from playing online, well almost preventing. I can play online for a maximum of around 5 minutes before it disconnects me from the Dark Souls 3 server and I have to relog in to play again. It just doesn't work out. When I'm back at home the game works fine. I noticed that this happened to me when I was playing Dark Souls 2 as well.
I have tried using a VPN to try and connect and it does but I cannot connect to anyone through invading/summon signs etc. If you want to know I used FrootVPN
If anyone has a solution or has the same problem feel free to weep in sorrow with me.
I agree with msimechak, you can download an ovpn files depending on the vpn service you are using, if it is available on Linux os then its better. But in my case, I am FrootVPN user and it has an available openvpn for Linux. Been using it for months now so hope it'll suites you too!
At FrootVPN we pass all DNS requests made by a server to a trusted recursor which has a strict size restriction on the replies. At no given time it will respond more than a single A or AAAA record to our servers. So as CVE-2015-7547 requires a packet size much greater than a single record, we're by design not vulnerable to this as our servers will never face such a reply.
Yes and its already happening, some VPN services are already blocked by Netflix. Well, we really have to think twice with the provider that we'll be using. As of now my provider FrootVPN is working fine with Netflix, Also they don't do NAT, so I should be safe. Hoping that it'll continue that way.
Purchased 1 month service from FrootVPN. Almost a whole day later and my account has yet to be activated. Contacted their "stellar" customer support to be told they will fix it. Hour later and I still have no access. Contacted again to ask how long before my account is active and all I got was “you’ll get an email when its ready”. This is FAR from good customer service. Will be reversing the charges in 2 hours if my account is still not active.
You paid them with bitcoin already? Simply demand for a refund(edit: dunno how bitcoin works, is this possible?) and threaten to complain about them and stop using their service, and use a more reputable provider. You could also tweet them.
I used FrootVPN for a while before I switched. About 90% of the time it failed to connect, and when it did, it just didn't feel safe. The download speeds were so similar to my regular speeds, that I felt it wasn't even doing anything.
If you really want protection, a paid VPN is one of the only ways to go. I personally use mine all the time, just to get my money's worth. If you're really interested, take a lot around /r/vpn.
I would suggest FrootVPN is another solid option.
Looks like you have a networking issue. Try using a VPN to connect to steam and see if it works. If it does then your ISP is doing something that is blocking steam. If you get the same error then the network adapter of your computer may have an issue.
Problems like these can only be discovered and solved by step by step method of eliminating possible causes.
For a easy, free and fast VPN use FrootVPN.
Hey everyone, thank you for the suggestions. No, I have no evidence that Comcast is blocking any VPNS or if they are even allowed to do so. I just assumed that was the case when I attempted to install a free VPN called "Ghost". So is FrootVPN the best option? I'm looking for something fast because multiple computers will be connected.
FrootVPN, it's by former Pirate Bay folk.
I wouldn't throw all my trust in it, but even though it's an underperformer no one's reported getting a violation by using it.
Yes. But a good VPN is an additional X dollars per month/year. There's free ones like FrootVPN, but they won't provide gigabit speeds, and FrootVPN specifically is located in Sweden, and adds several hundred ms to your ping.
If you game a lot, a VPN isn't for you, since any VPN will add to your ping, even if it's fairly close. Although you could probably set it up so game and other latency-sensitive traffic goes through your regular internet connection, and all other non-latency-sensitive traffic goes through the VPN.
Using a VPN would work to bypass things like that. FrootVPN is a free one. There's something in the Steam TOS about not using VPN but I think that's only related to game activation and the like. I would check for you, but I'm on my phone.
First, follow /u/LegioII advice. If the ISP was throttling your BitTorrent traffic, it's time to use VPN. /u/sambared has suggested FrootVPN, a free PTPP/OpenVPN service. Setup is very easy on Windows. However, depending on your location, note that Froot is in Sweden, so sometime your VPN traffic will slow down or you even have to reconnect the VPN.
If necessary, get a paid VPN like PIA or BtGuard. These can guarantee you best speed. For example if you're in Germany, they have VPN server at that location and you could nearly reach your normal ISP download speed.
Just my 2 cents.
The purpose of using a VPN for piracy is to increase anonymity in order to mitigate liability. Creating a VPN in your internal network will not help you as you retain your IP.
I personally use Private Internet Access as my VPN provider. They are cheap and provider good service. If you want a free provider, your options are limited. You could try FrootVPN, which provides a free service with some limitations.
When choosing a provider make sure you are aware of their data logging policies. For example the free provider HotSpot Shield is a POOR option as they keep logs and have policies that are not piracy friendly.
I use OpenVPN for 8.1.2 - but for Windows 8.1 - all you have to do is download OpenVPN (find a source if the school blocks the domain) and download the VPN Profile from the frootvpn website and drag it into the window/open with OpenVPN.
FrootVPN then follows on instructions how to do this too under guides.
(I recommend OpenVPN as it usually isn't as blockable as PPTP methods - ask away if it doesn't work though)
If someone has a log of the traffic with a bunch of IP addresses, and there is a person monitoring the swarm, then all the IP addresses on the list that have ever connected to FrootVPN is searched, then you would not be able to tell which IP addresses downloaded the material, because the visible IP address is the IP address of FrootVPN, so you could not be caught.:P
Dunno, you might need to ask FrootVPN. Most VPN providers provide an application that you simply install & run. It's not too difficult, as long as the VPN app is running you should be connecte to the VPN & not your own IP.
Normally there is no extra configuration involved in the torrent client for using a VPN.
re: socks5, that's not using a VPN, that's using a socks proxy. Yes that would involve some configuration in the torrent client but has nothing to do with VPN. (plus you'd need to ask FrootVPN if they even offer proxy services)

If a VPN can have anything to do with your flash drive, you'll have other things to worry about (like a super insecure/misconfigured operating system).
Using Ubuntu, and can confirm FrootVPN did not interact with my flash drives in any way; as-expected.
I've been using FrootVPN for a little over a month now. It works flawlessly, and barely reduces my download or upload speeds. The business model is pretty simple to understand. 1.) Offer a good service for free for a while 2.) Advertise said service to the people who want and need it most 3.) Convince said people to try your service, which they do happily as they've thought about using a VPN before, but their inherent distaste to pay for software stops them from buying one outright 4.) Allow your new consumer base to become complacent, and rely upon you 5.) Start charging, undercut all your competition's prices since you have a larger customer base 6.) ??? 7.) Profit
Yes to cyphertite and tutanota, though I would probably recommend paying for a VPN if you have any money at all, since free VPNs have no incentive to keep your information private no matter what they promise. If you have to use one of those you might as well use FrootVPN since they were recently endorsed by thepiratebay
From their FAQ page > How are you able to finance this if it is for free?
> The whole idea behind FrootVPN is to provide a free simple VPN service that give every internet user on the planet the right to it's privacy online. Ofcourse the maintenance and bandwidth isn't free for these kind of services. But we had some resources over from other project and were able to launch FrootVPN.
You don't necessarily have to buy a VPN, there are plenty of free ones too. I recommend you check out FrootVPN, a fairly new VPN service run buy some guys who own other hosting services and decided to donate their extra servers. They are located in Sweden and were featured on The Piratebay for a while. They don't keep any logs and offer PPTP & OpenVPN and L2PT, no custom client.
Try FrootVPN for a Swedish IP or Hola! for several options. I use Hola! for Hulu and such, but it really slows my internet down, because it's some kind of weird P2P VPN system, so I usually disable it unless I really need it.
Proton's free tier also doesn't allow P2P/Torrenting, though.
That said, I use Proton because I (mostly) like the company and for $13 I get their VPN, cloud storage, email, and whatever else they roll out in the future.
If I weren't using them, I'd look into FrootVPN. My understanding is that they're quite trustworthy, even implicitly catering to piracy, and it's like $40/year.
Unless UB receives a notice, nothing will happen. If UB does get a notice however, your friend will have to do a ublearns course on internet piracy, plus can’t get caught again or you’re in big trouble.
Best bet, get a VPN to torrent worry free. I personally use FrootVPN as they’re the cheapest, torrent friendly, with many different servers to choose from around the world, plus they don’t keep logs.
I won't spell it all out here because it is well documented.
Google Torrenting
It is actually very simple. You install a torrent client(or progam) such as Vuze. Then you just search for a torrent file, which gives you the movies/tv shows on our old friend PirateBay.
The trick is doing it safely. If done improperly you will get letters from your ISP. So you are best subscribing to a VPN. A vpn that allows p2p. There are money but I personally know of FrootVPN.
You should look up how to do this too. But with your vpn you can set your torrent client(such as Vuze) to only work when your VPN is running. This is not required and slightly more complicated. But it is a fail safe. Sometimes your VPN will just disconnect and you want the torrent client to stop, immediately once that happens.
I use FrootVPN but I am only recommending you try VPN as a troubleshooting step as it will more than likely increase your ping. It's to see if Comcast is throttling certain types of traffic.. it will not fix your packet loss if it is wiring issues.
Your packet loss when using VPN indicates very, VERY fundamental issues with the link between your router and your ISP.. likely wiring issues in the last mile. It will require you delving deeper into Comcast's tech support center. There is likely no other way around this.
I use FrootVPN ... have done for years. It obviously works with the VPN on or off for me. Both the screenshots I posted were from behind my VPN.
Shame! ... I thought #293 might have worked. Not sure why "Discovery" is not happening for 0.3.10 in your set-up. As I've already said: we've rarely had that problem until 0.4.4 (I've been knocking around here for years!).
Not sure how I can help further but I'm available if you want me to test anything?
I use FrootVPN and swear by their service. I've done some pretty questionable things over their tunnel and never had any issues. For all I know, they don't keep logs. They also have a great endpoint out of Sweden. They had one out of Syria for a while, too, before the civil war there.
When I was first looking at VPNs, FrootVPN was the first one I tried. I hated it so much I quit within a week and got a refund from them.
Nord is really nice (fast), and has applications for every platform to make connecting super smooth and easy.
I also don't know how it works, but their VPNs spoof location regardless of actual server location. So I can connect to a server near Japan (HK) to access US-Only stuff. Makes everything much much faster.
> Oh no, I know what a VPN is ....
Oops ... luckily I didn't add - ask your dad to get it for you! :D
> I meant what VPN do you use so
I use FrootVPN - but there are many others out there (I'm not their rep!). I like FrootVPN because it's relatively
simple - some get a bit too technical (for me!).
Edit: if you're Windows you have the bonus of a "kill switch" (not available to me - Mac). I use a third-party switch.
Probably use my VPN as much with music (YouTube Rips, Deezer downloads and such) .... the RIAA are just as (if not more) litigious than the MPAA.
Useful for circumventing regional/browser blocking also.
That might've been it then. I'm using single hop nl-1 wg server right now and getting full speed with sub 60ms ping.
I'd say I'm getting few captchas every now and then which does not bother me. You can use socks proxy provided with each connection to reduce them.
Oh btw before I got a Mullvad account, I used to use FrootVPN which basically sucked. Their speeds were nowhere near my barebone levels, their tech support sucked, their auto config generators were so bad that they got me into networking just to get it running. I recommend you to stay away from them. Just my 2 cents on them.
I've been with FrootVPN since it started - when it was indeed "free". Been using it almost as long as I've been using Popcorntime ... about 4-5 years. Does for me.
I'd give AirVPN the thumbs up based on passed reviews (official and users). But it was too complex for me .... I'm a Mac user (it's got to be "point and click!" .. lol).
VpnHT is obviously Wallydz's "baby" .... and we love Wally! :D
PIA and Nord also have their ardent supporters (and detractors). It's a very crowded field (VPN suppliers) - it can only affect service/performance if a business model is based on grabbing market share, using constant promotions?
But I got another VPN, FrootVPN, for when my phone wasn't with me. It has a larger amount of servers (fogu only has 2...) and pretty much every other feature that fogu has. It didn't want to connect at first but when I did a restart everything worked fine. Servers are fast too.
Does Desktop and Mobile has a same set up? and where is your country located at? I'm using FrootVPN that encrypts 2048bit. I've been using it since 2012 up to now It was a great and secured connection, I can access Netflix also.
Free VPN = Bad result There was a World class VPN at a low price. And that is FrootVPN, at first I didn't believe about it. But after I used it, I Proudly say you spend your money at a great choice. It is located also in the Germany.
Proxy and VPN are different . In VPN they can encrypt the connection larger towards to your VPN provider . For example FrootVPN they can encrypt your connection up to 2048 bits encryption and protect you against hackers reading your data. While the Proxy services will provide. While both a proxy and VPN service will re-route your internet traffic and change your IP, proxies and VPNs function slightly differently
This probably depends on where you are. I have some friends over at the philippines that have been torrenting for years and theyre fine. BUT I, who is living in the US, have been using FrootVPN since last year because its more strict here. If you're looking for a VPN I suggest that you try FrootVPN its worth every penny and it hasnt failed for the duration that Ive used it
My initial thought is already commented by the other guys. So im just gonna recommend you the best PAID vpn that I use for torrenting. I use FrootVPN. I torrent a lot of games and tv shows and I have never encountered a problem.
dont use a free VPN especially if you're main objective is to be safe while torrenting. I recommend that you use a paid one. Ive been torrenting for the longest time now and I use FrootVPN to make sure I dont encounter any problems
