artem from AP linked this on his g+ page a while back and i've been using it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton&hl=en
pretty neat. didn't work on my 5+ year old BT headphones but works with my new BT headphones and my miband
would prefer it be built into the system though
Shout out to some new/noteworthy apps I've come across recently:
Baton - Check the battery level for your connected bluetooth devices, works with my cheap Altec Landsing headphones that don't show battery level anywhere else (but do on iPhone)
-it is a beta, still kinda buggy though, be warned-
Article Reader Offline - share the url of an article from any app and strip it to only text and make it much more readable and save it for offline as well!
There is an app for that BatOn.
Just keep in mind it cannot differentiate if Bluetooth device actually provides data about his battery. So this app shows random for not supported devices (like OG Moto Buds).
Personal experience: it works on my Nexus 6P and Jaybird X2's with BatOn.
As others have mentioned, it depends on the bluetooth device itself to report the battery stats.
Edit: Fixed the link, cause I can't internet
Do you mean BatOn? Stock Android doesn't have a function to show bluetooth battery life in the status bar. You'll have to resort to a third-party app for this function like BatOn which will display the battery life via notification.
Bluedio. I'd recommend using "BatON" for Android phones who do not have a built-in Bluetooth device battery gauge. It gives you a basic toast telling you the percentage and so for it's been very useful

I'm going to buy AirPods for my Moto Z Play, thanks for sharing your thoughts on them. Have you ever tried using an app to see battery status? Like batON: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton I'm curious if it works good with Apple earphones. It worked with my Samsung and Sony bt headphones. Can you try it? Does it show earphones or case battery?
This is an Android issue. Google didn't develop the API to enable this feature in android devices. Samsung Connect allows you to see the battery life of their own proprietary devices. There is this also this app which tries to emulate the battery level of some Bluetooth devices. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
Just as a precaution, look at the app BatOn. Not all devices support this, so if you haven't already then try BatON with your devices first to ensure that they can report the battery level. Wouldn't want to dive into this and debug with things that can't do it!
The issue is, Android has not implmeneted BAS, which is an important aspect. https://www.bluetooth.com/specifications/adopted-specifications#gattspec
Supposedly an application called Baton helps fill that gap.
You can try BatOn from the Google App store. It shows the battery percentage left, but the device does have to be connected.
I think the 10h is a bit of a stretch. I average about 2-3 hours of continuous listening in paired mode before i have to charge. Dunno how they're doing the 10h thing unless it's using one ear piece at a time.....
Some phones let you check the battery level for connected Bluetooth devices and there's an app on play store that i used before: baton https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
No idea if that'll work as i don't need it for my current phone.
Right, now I understand what you mean. So you are getting a battery icon but no percentage.
As far as I know, that is dependent on what the headphones transmit.
The only options to configure are as I said, the call/media outputs have to be enabled and the heaphones need to send the info. Some just have "full - medium - empty" others have 5 stages, some send over percentage values.
If you have no app specific to the headphones, see if you can find an app that tires to obtain that info like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
If even these apps can't get a more precise info, odds are the headphones themselves don't transmit the percentage in the first place.
So annoying when Samsung remove useful things.
Founds these in the G store though

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tk.alessio.bluebatt
I believe it does show the connected device's battery level on a toast notification (https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/notifiers/toasts) when the device connects.
It is indeed annoying because it doesn't last long and can't be accessed otherwise.
Edit: BatOn seems to do that and it can create a notification for connected devices: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
There is an app called BatON ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton&hl=en ) it isnt perfect but it works good enough
IDK about that tasker integrations, but here is an awesome Android App called baton that show a notification shade with batter level. You can even control how often it measures battery.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
I found an app to find a relative estimate of AirPod battery. It's called batON. It tells you the battery status of all bluetooth connected devices by an estimate. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton&hl=en
Just noting this looks to be the wrong BatOn.
This other one was linked elsewhere in the thread: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton&hl=en
The only one I know that displays the battery level for BT devices is BatON. But unfortunately I don't find it very accurate.
Orrrrrrrrrrrrr
Just try BatON
I use this app to get around this problem: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
Samsung must have removed or not enabled the feature then.
Try this app as an alternative: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
But the recent version is a bit trashy
Try BatON
It adds a notification with the battery level of any connected Bluetooth device
I used this app before and it mostly worked....
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
Hi , you should give a try to Baton https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
look at BatON
I just got the Rugged Bluetooth today. It's surprisingly good for its size; fairly loud, clear highs and mids, decent bass. I tested it with a few genres, rock, metal, hip hop, and electronica, probably about 4 songs in subgenres of each. All pretty good. I could see using it for camping, fixing something outdoors that wouldn't take too long, sitting by a lake somewhere; you wouldn't depend on it to be the main music source for a house or party.
I don't have it long enough to tell you about battery life; I opened it up, charged it for 6 hours per instructions, then messed around with it for about an hour on my deck. It seems pretty sturdy for its size, as do the plastic buttons for power/track control/volume control. The buttons are all black plastic, though, so hard to see in the dark (obviously you can just control this from your device). This thing is definitely not worksite tough, I wouldn't go tossing it around.
There are no serial numbers on it, only a description that says "S2 Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker". I'm pretty sure this is the same speaker, even though there is a slight size discrepancy between Walmart's description and Marlboro's about an inch off on the respective measurements.
The one drawback I see is that there is no power level on the unit. I'm looking right now online to see if I can get a power level reading on my phone (this is how I came across this post); if I do, I'll edit this comment with the info.
Overall- this thing would be great to keep in a backpack or auto for a little adventure. Or the shower.
EDIT- there is no volume meter on the device. Your device may already provide the battery level of paired Bluetooth devices; if it doesn't, you can try an app for it like Baton for Android
If you're on Android us this app to check the battery:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton
My GO+ shows me the low battery icon even when it has 70%+
They will probably get this in oreo update that's what I'm hoping for. But in the meantime you can use BatON instead of guessing!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limi.baton this app shows battery percentage for Bluetooth but I don't think it will show the correct information
I know of this app (which I haven't tried out) on the play store that should be able to approximate the percentage; Baton
