~~consider that he's 14 years old. at the end of the series, he's 18.~~
~~he has 4 years of experience and character to build up, so just give him time.~~
EDIT: According to the awesome timeline the user /u/TheTartWhisperer made recently, [Edward was 16 on the Promised day. He was 12 when he and Al burned their home. The difference from when Ed became a state alchemist until Primised Day is still 4 years, however Edward is younger at the start, and older through most of the series (15).](/b)
Yeah, you're missing something. The entire second half of the series. Netflix streaming only has parts 1-3 out of 5, which I believe is exactly half the episodes as parts 4 and 5 are longer.
Funimation has clearly sided with Hulu, so I'm not sure when (/if) Netflix will get the rest. You can watch it online, for free, either sub or dub, on Funimation's site, video player via Hulu. Here's the link....really hope you didn't read that idiot's spoilers down there.
This would have been a better link, but I didn't find it until after I submitted. Here's some info:
>Relive the masterpiece. Fullmetal Alchemist, the Complete Original Series on Blu-ray. A must-have for your collection. For the first time ever, experience Fullmetal Alchemist in perfect picture and perfect sound that Blu-ray brings.
>Three editions for every type of Fullmetal fan:
>* The Standard Edition with all 51 episodes and a selection of special on-disc features enclosed in collectible packaging * The Limited Edition with the full series, a collectible art book and art cards in specialty packaging * The Collector’s Edition with the full series, art cards and collector’s prints, specialty packing including an Alchemy Tome and Briefcase, and a collectible art book with the best images from the series
EDIT: Here's a trailer as well. As expected, it doesn't look as glamorous as an anime originally drawn in HD would, but the improvements are there.
Watch FMA Brotherhood and never look back, both subs and dubs. It starts off more or less the same but differs soon after and the ending is great.
Oh my god. Thanks so much. This is so useful. Would you be willing to translate the interviews and directorial/writer info from FMA Material Side, FMA Story Side, etc?
I wonder if the english translation will ever be finished. Last they posted about it (which was nearly 2 years ago!!) they said the text was 100% translated but they would have to completely rebuild the engine because the original engine had ugly fonts, among other things, and they kept getting error messages whenever they used the word "brother" (what a problem to have when translating an FMA game >_> )
There's been no progress updates since then..
If any of you want to play the game, the translated text and walkthrough is hosted on this site (some of the links were broken, but i was able to read them by looking up the broken links with the Wayback Machine) I played the game while referring to this translation on my phone. It's not exactly the ideal way to play it though.
They are separate stories that don't really follow a chronological order so you can read the 5th one just fine. Only vol. 1 was adapted for FMA 2003 ep. 13-14 and...37. There are 5 translated in English so you need 1-4.
As for where to get the others Amazon has them for varying prices (vol.1 cover looks like this though) and you can check ebay for lower prices of used ones.
You should buy the 3 in 1 manga's: http://www.bookdepository.com/Fullmetal-Alchemist-Hiromu-Arakaw/9781421540184?ref=grid-view or the complete box set: http://www.bookdepository.com/Fullmetal-Alchemist-Box-Set-Hiromu-Arakaw/9781421541952?ref=bd_recs_1_1
My Alphonse was constructed from Fiberglas and carbon fiber with video cameras, fans and LCD panel mounted in the cost. I would estimate about 1000 in materials alone for my build.
However for the foam Pepakura version I would think you should be able to construct one for under 100 or so in materials (EVA foam, glue, primer and paint).
The basic run down is you download a program called Pepakura and search the Internet for "Alphonse Elric armor Pepakura". Each file will be a 3d model that the program will unfold into a template that you print on a regular printer. You cut out the templates and trace them on to foam. Good idea to put the paper one together at this point so you have an idea of how things go together (but only after you copy it to the foam) You then cut out the foam pieces and glue them together. Primer and paint. Searching for building foam armor will provide you som tutorials as well.
Like everyone else said, Funimation's license for FMA:B expired at the end of March this year, and could definitely explain why Netflix may have lost it as well. Perhaps the streaming rights Netflix had just took a few months longer to run out? I checked on Hulu and they do not have Brotherhood either, but I'm honestly not sure if they ever did since I'm not a huge Hulu person.
Funimation still holds its license for the original series though until the end of this month so maybe that's why Netflix and Hulu are still streaming that one.
Crunchyroll has the streaming rights currently and it's only a matter of time before they add it. This article doesn't include an exact date but it sounds like it will start streaming along with the other anime for the summer 2016 season.
As far as I know we haven't received a ton of information about all of this so a lot is just speculation.
With all that said though, a suggestion I'd have to finish watching it legally would be to check out your local library. I know my local library has it so maybe yours does to! It's worth a shot.
Hmm, are you watching it subbed or dubbed? Could be that the dub or sub is messed up (try comparing them). I watched it subbed and never had any issues. Here try watching it on funimations website. Maybe its Kissanime?http://www.funimation.com/shows/fullmetal-alchemist/videos/official/to-challenge-the-sun?watch=sub
You can watch the Sub on Crunchyroll.
Other means, check the sidebar of r/9anime and before going to such sites make sure to install uBlock Origins and or Adblock Plus if you haven't.
Sorry....
The Blu-Ray.com news website reports that Manga Entertainment UK has cancelled its plans to release Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on Blu-ray Disc after disappointing sales for the series' first two Blu-ray releases could not justify the cost of the future releases. The remainder of the series will only be released in standard definition.
It's a lace front off Amazon, here. It's a little more expensive, but great quality and super thick.
I hope you share pictures, when you do cosplay her!! I'd love to see more Olivier around.
Aww that's terrible! If you're in the US and really wanna replace it the Bluray combo isn't too expensive at Amazon. I still listen to the OSTs over a decade later, Gravity is the only non-FMA song that makes me tear up. Truly a beautiful series all around.
Anyone reading this please go watch Wolf's Rain if you haven't.
Have you checked Amazon? I found the full DVD collection for $65.
Okay, let's go !
I would recommend you to start with the basics. Look for Loomis' books Drawing the Head and Hands and Figure For All It's Worth. It will give you a much deeper understanding of your drawings and how to go about it. I honestly wish I knew about these earlier.
There's also CtrlPaint that provides excellent quality videos for free. It has a lot of tips and exercises to get better.
Take it from someone who made the mistake of learning to draw manga first. Drawing manga is fun, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who just gets started. Learn to draw from life, and then, it'll be much easier to turn your drawings into any style you want. :)
It’s the eye from the cover of volume 13, those are its colors. Even if they weren’t, tattoos can use creative liberty.
Answered my own question while trolling tvtropes! The fic is "build your wings on the way down" by ShanaStoryteller. AO3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/4011292/chapters/9012415
Also, I misremembered the description: Ed sacrificed his ignorance, not his innocence. Big difference.
If you liked Death Note, try Code Geass for sure.
I'd also recommend Baccano, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and maybe Neon Genesis Evangelion. All depends on what you're looking for, and for god's sake do some research before you start an anime. Otherwise you end up with cliches and lack of plot, just like in any other medium.
Honestly, I'd stay away from the Big Three (Bleach, One Piece, Naruto) because they tend let their plots drag on and get boring.
MyAnimeList is a good site for doing aforementioned research, and their top anime page is a fast way to figure out what's good and what's not. Have fun!
Totally achievable! MakeBots have a pretty large print space and I'm sure you can make one big enough. The printer that I used is the MakerBot Replicator 2.
Here is the link to the blueprint: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:425292
Good luck :D
Also its dude :)
You could watch them for free on funimations site. http://www.funimation.com/shows/fullmetal-alchemist/videos/episodes I also think they are available to purchase as well if you wanted. here http://www.funimation.com/shows/fullmetal-alchemist/products
You can legally watch it on the Funimation website at http://www.funimation.com/shows/fullmetal-alchemist-brotherhood/videos/episodes
You do have to pay a small subscription, but it's very much worth it.
Edit: You can even do the 14-day free trial.
There's a new Blu ray version supposed to be coming out soon - April. So you might just wait for that one. They show it as pretty expensive, but the actual price will probably be cheaper or drop after a while.
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/enlist
What has been lacking in these studies is accurate information regarding the timing and duration of the various processes enlisted in short-term memory operations. From Cambridge English Corpus
I thought it works quite well with plot, plot holes or informations
I know this is a week late, but if anyone is ready to pay a larger amount at once instead of buying all the issues separately for smaller amounts of money (and paying more altogether), you should check the whole manga set box on BookDepository.
I got mine for roughly 145€. The discount percentage changes constantly so it could cost 160€ today and 130€ tomorrow, but it's always a pretty good amount off and much cheaper to get a whole set of new manga from there than anywhere else i've seen.
also free delivery worldwide :P
Have you been on Book Depository? I got all mine from there for around 10 bucks each. Way better than the 20-30 I'd pay for them in a store.
I actually haven't seen any fan-made manga with self-insert type of characters. That said, most of the doujinshi focus on character pairings (Ed/Winry, Ed/Roy, Roy/Riza and so on), not the general story and most I've read are set during the series, not after. Some also focus on relationship of Ed and Al, but that can be kind of a slippery slope.
Here's a list of most of FMA/FMA:B doujinshi, 16 pages and probably counting.
oh shit, that's a good point, i haven't considered the wiki might be referring to the very last episode, the way it's written - 'end of the series' - could be interpreted both ways :/
in that case i'm not sure.
EDIT: according to the awesome timeline a user from this subreddit made recently, he was 16 on the Promised day, my mistake! however this doesn't change much he was still literally a child at the beginning, and the series does depict a lot of his growing up (:
I updated my original comment with more info on this
I don't have the book anymore, but I'm 90% positive it was in the FMA Art Book 1. The art book contained all the promotional images made for the show from eps 1 to 20-ish. Its a very old image!
I heard about it a few months ago and instantly went searching, I found it on eBay but that was already sold when I just checked. There’s this on Amazon and I doubt it’ll go back in stock: Fullmetal Alchemist movie limited comic manga vol.11.5 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005D0KYLW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BCZYYZ4JZ5SNMEWSB2BX
I’d try your luck with this one
Thanks! Here's the link
Heads up though, the poster isn't big like some of those full sized wall scrolls.
You can buy Fullmetal Alchemist: The Best on amazon. It has all openings and endings plus a few other awesome songs like Lost Heaven. It's 100% worth it, if I could only listen to one album for the rest of my life it would be this one.
Are you sure you looked up the right OSTs as Amazon US lists each between $32-39, though maybe Prime prices are different. That is slightly over JP retail prices but importing like from Yahoo Auction Japan they will usually cost ~~an arm and a le~~even more due to shipping and or proxy costs.
You can try eBay and try to buy only from sellers in your country if any have them for sale to avoid shipping cost.
Lol I bought this one a few years ago: Roy!
What about this
Maybe you can piece together separate parts. This guy seems to have a lot of it. But it seems cheaper to buy a multi-region DVD player
...I actually got an amazon gift card and spent it on the boxed set...
If you want to see the extra one with Hohenheim, just buy the last one by itself (volume 27), at this point in the story it's exactly the same as brotherhood so you won't be confused about anything.
