A bottle of pre-wow and a toothbrush should help. It was actually designed by a MINI guy who just happened to be a detailer named Richard Lin. His dad also just happened to be a chemical engineer, and they worked together to make Blackwow and Prewow. Both work amazingly well, in my experience. Prewow cleans wax and buildup off of the plastics, Blackwow hydrated and restores that deep black.
God I sound like a salesman, I promise I’m not. Just a fan of the dude from way back. He was active on the North American Motoring forum when I first got my MINI, so it all just stuck with me.

Edit: This will also make your phone charge much faster.
So I had the exact same mount. The spring clamp is going to eventually break. I replaced mine with a magnetic type with a ball and socket screw on mount. It's way better now.
Can everyone in this thread say the year and model of Mini they have, and if there's a rain sensor at the top of the windshield, when recommending a shade? I just ordered this off Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Covercraft-UVS100-Windshield-Sunshade-Laminate/dp/B007V2CK6M
Based on numerous reviews that said the OEM Mini sunshade leaves a gap at the top of the window unless you prop it up with something. I have a 2013 Mini Cooper S hardtop with the rain sensor. I'll see how it fits when it gets here on Wednesday.
Edit: Fits great!
If you don’t already have a preferred trim restorer, get a bottle of this stuff. Apply ever 6 months to a year. Not a glossifier, but actually dyes the plastic to the OEM satin finish. The 1 oz bottle is plenty.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006NZQ3T8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_G-XoFbWE7AQ7P
I use one that bolts to the back of the tach. I made mine, but cravenspeed sells a popular one in aluminum, or you can order plastic ones off Amazon or eBay. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/iJDMTOY-Behind-Tachometer-Holder-Cooper/dp/B07DQWK5JY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=r56+phone+mount&qid=1561471532&s=gateway&sprefix=r56+phone&sr=8-3
Those are the speed ratings. On the top card it's a circle meaning class 10 with a minium rate of 10 mb/s. 10 is fastes, 2 is slowest. The bottom is a U which is uhs class 3. Uhs goes from 1 (the same as class 10 = 10 mb/s) and 3 which i would assume is 30 mb/s
For continuous recording you want higher obviously. I'm not sure why you said a 4 would work, but a 6 or 10 doesn't because it should be the other way around... Be careful not to mix up the circle classes and UHS ratings as a UHS 1 is a class 10 and good.
The different sizes are probable because it changes format from sdhc to sdxc which not all devices can work with.
I recently bought a version of that cable on eBay. It's sitting out in my R53 right now. Hoping to bust it out this weekend and try it out. I bought a copy of the BMW software off ebay.
I have an auto-vox dashcam and backup camera on my 2015 R60 and it's amazing. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085RB9LKJ/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_apap_1kv5nrTyD2awp
I went for the add on version (that sits on top of the rear view) because I wasn't sure I would like it, but given the choice again I'd go for the full mirror replacement kit because it works so well I never need to use the factory mirror and it would look nicer.
this is probably the best idea, the puddle lights are cheap on amazon and ebay and a great gift.
otherwise check for sweatshirts or hats or w.e on google, maybe something nice and custom from etsy.
lightinsight - little stick on gel prismatic mirror to help him see traffic lights, i have them in all my minis
There are two main solutions out there that I have found for the second generation Mini’s that will keep the steering wheel button functionality with newer iPhones with the lightning port. There is the official Mini/BMW lightning adapter cable that worked pretty well for me when I used it and the stereo and steering wheel functions work. The more popular option around seems to be the Bovee Tune2Air bluetooth audio adapter that keeps the same functionality as the official Mini adapter above but being cheaper and wireless.
Edit: /u/Royal_Ad_8143
that's how the R56 generation interface works. USB transmits data and the aux transmits audio. there's an OEM adapter, but it's not worth the money. this adapter works the same way.
I've got an 08 MCS and I replaced the engine out of warranty. Aside from that I had the timing chain/tensioner, thermostat, and high pressure fuel pump all replaced under warranty. If I had to do it all over again I'd still buy my car in a heartbeat. Yes, my love for my car outweighs any and all problems I've had. I've had numerous amazing experiences in the 165,000 miles I've driven and I look forward to so many more.
If you can get a warranty with the purchase, do so, but I'd recommend looking at financing with your bank/credit union and also getting the warranty through them if possible. Just my personal experience that you're much better off doing that than getting financing or warranty at the dealer.
My biggest suggestion would be to see what the local MINI community is like. They can be your best resource to find out what shops do great work on MINIs (and will likely be cheaper than BMW pricing), and on top of that they make fantastic friends! Other than that, I'm thankful for the Bentley Service Manual (Amazon Link). I'm not incredibly mechanically inclined, but the manual has good detail and I'm enjoying doing my own work when I can!
Good luck and hope to see you back on here beaming with your new (to you) MINI!
Around $110.00 on Amazon
Really didn’t take too long. Half hour, maybe? The longest part was taking the bumper cover off. There’s a website you get a link to that has directions for the install.
Overall: Love it compared to the super dim ones I had at first. The turn signal is four yellow LEDs. When I put on the turn signal the white halo turns off and only the yellow inside is illuminated.
Can’t recommend fog lights yet, they’re cheap ones, wait for my update.
I use this one but there are even cheaper modules Veepeak OBDCheck BLE OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner Auto OBD II Diagnostic Scan Tool for iOS & Android, Bluetooth 4.0 Car Check Engine Light Code Reader Supports Torque, OBD Fusion app https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XKQQQW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_KfjGCb7DRZJ10
One can is plenty if you are doing the visible surfaces only. OP was thorough and did the full wheel surface, even the inside. I was a bit lazier and it still looks great; used most of one can.

Some of those Minis... it sure is diverse.
I was thinking of painting mine like this... Think I'll cross that off the list and stick with the colour matched flares.

Looks really impressive! Yeah I'm not really handy haha. But I'm sure I can get someone to fit it professionally for me!
My wife drives a ‘15 f56. I saw a $75 dollar holder I was interested in, but unsure about, so I bought the $30 version on Amazon and it’s still working great after 3 years. Here’s the link to the inexpensive version, I don’t even remember what company was selling the pricier one.
Yeah that just sounds like a terrible idea. I have this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_JNR5W2EY6GJF05YGXQ3A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It's excellent. Full hands-free, no complaints from the other end of calls, and it's been super reliable.

See the little puck to the right of my keys? That's it. Cables are routed behind the knee panels and center console, aux cable plugs in to aux, power into the two port splitter. The other port charges my phone in the ProClip mount.
Nope, look them up. No oil base or anything. It makes the plastic look clean, there's no film or residue to it.
That's the product. It doesn't leave a film on the plastics at all, and gives tires a 'medium' shine. Honestly makes everything look like it just rolled out of the factory.
Dodo wax sounds great, is it a spray or paste?
I have this unit in my R53 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008JE4TYW/ I think it was about $160 so a little more money but it's worked great for me.
This works the same way as the one you posted, plugs in to the unused cd changer port, just worked once I plugged it in, nothing to configure. Pretty easy to get the radio out too. I ran the mic up to the headliner which made it more a pita and I never use that, just plugging in to the back of the radio should be pretty easy.
I keep finding that this one works well with many iOS apps: OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner for iPhone, Android, and Windows https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JFRFJG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_HficGbZGG1MF1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
not sure if it still applies, but there were 2 OEM adapters for iPhones. one is for MINIs with MINI Connected and one for MINIs with the standard or HK stereo. they were not interchangeable. i went through 2 of them before moving on to something aftermarket and wireless.
My two cents: I purchased one of those Bovee bluetooth adapters back in 2017 and was super disappointed in the sound quality coming through it. Lows and mids sounded fine, but anything higher pitched (e.g. symbols or female voices) sounded super distorted.
To be fair I was also using the adapter with an Android phone, so I'm not sure if there was some kind of weird incompatibility or what.
My current audio solution is using this : (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MXX28M0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
paired with a cable like this:
I don't get steering wheel controls but my audio sounds darn near perfect.
Started picking on an edge to get it started then peeled slowly. Heat gun might have helped but did not use. There were parts I just could get and bought the wheel eraser thingy off amazon that did wonders.

I just replaced the tank on my '05 R53 MCS two weeks ago. It was leaking all along the seam where the two halves come together. I'm sure I lost a bunch of coolant before I noticed it. The coolant was just bubbling out & never hit the ground, so it was hard to pick up on. I replaced it with this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SKHSYEE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's exactly like the OEM one. I figured that since the OEM tank lasted this long, I'd stick with the plastic. There are a couple of aluminum ones out there, but I didn't see springing the $100 for one - I'd rather spend that on a new supercharger pulley, or a new air intake assembly.
The replacement process is one of the only easy things I've done on my Mini. One bolt and 2 hose clamps is all that's holding it in. Done in about 15 minutes. Have fun!
EDIT: a word
NGK sells their plug wires on amazon. And they're blue!
They also have the plugs.
I know way sells a kit with the belts, plugs, and pulley. Might be worth checking prices for the best deal.
Literally 2 bolts and two hose clamps. They leak at the seam. Your cap looks like it's leaking with that spray out at the end. It's literally $25 and the tank comes with a new cap.
I purchased the genuine MINI Protective Boot Space Cover (for 2002 - 2013), PN 51470140121, for this same need. Some of the latches and loops don't meet up perfectly (because it's used on a number of different models) but the fit is fantastic. There's even a flap that folds down to hang over the bumper so the dog doesn't scratch the paint getting in and out of the boot.

Looks like this has since been discontinued, but there's a number of places that make customer covers with the same functionality, although they can be quite pricey.

I got mine on ebay but have seen them also on amazon; its a small RC based model that uses BT and was made by BeeWii. here's an example of one on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Mini-Cooper-toy-Remote-Control/dp/B0055EDO7M
Amazon link. It screws into the tow hook in the lower grille. There are versions that are tailor made for the Mini but they go for like $80 which is absurd. For $23 this one gets the job done.

There's a couple ways to do it. It's called coding.
NCS Expert is software you can get but is difficult to learn (even your car speaks german)
I bought an app for it (Carly for BMW) and their bluetooth OBD plug. Cost me a bit but it's very easy to use. I customized the lighting, seat belt chime, wiper timing, etc...
You can adjust lots of things but my favorite is Euro flashers and being able to have my fog lights and high beams on simultaneously

I have these specific wheels, but I wouldnt recommend them for a stock mini. since theyre 15x8 that much smaller and a bit wider, so unless youre slammed like me, it will look a bit odd.
You'll need something like this to make the 30-pin charge anything remotely recent. http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B003TJR2HS
The 30-pin plug has pins for USB charging (5V) and Firewire charging (12-30V). Since most cars run at 12V, it was easy to just provide 12V power on the Firewire pins. I can't remember when, but Apple dropped support for charging from Firewire. That dongle will take the unregulated 12-30V on the firewire pins and output 5V on the USB pins.
You need a specific cable. Dealer - ~$120.00, Amazon ~$20.00.

I use the Macally MCUP in my F56. It works well, can be a little tight when the shifter is in Park (I have it in the passenger side cupholder). I don't like that I use up a valuable cupholder but it holds my iPhone 6S Plus well and I think it's super-sturdy. It's a nice location since the USB port is right there behind it.
I got this magnetic iOttie mount for my F55 to use with my iPhone 6 Plus.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q3G8LPQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_xFJiwbE5J210H
I installed it (well, clipped it) to the top of the right driver's side air vent. I chose this one because it comes out a bit from the vent, allowing for different positions and angles (which are needed in a car as uniquely shaped as ours).
The reviews said the magnet holds very well and I can attest to that...the metal plate is adhered to the phone underneath my Apple leather case and it still snaps into place and holds with no issues.
The phone is easy to see while driving, putting in right in my sight line. Another bonus is that when you don't have your phone in place, the iOttie just looks like a dot on your dash.
I know it's not down low, but I think it may work for you anyway.
I use this;
Works well for me, although it is pretty close to the gear stick in first gear.
Yeah that's why I don't mind not having it. I'm currently trying out this mount that uses the CD slot and it's working really well so far. It doesn't help that the run flats transfer every single bump though.
Absolutely replace them. None of my coils were corroded, but there was rust around the metal bodies. I ended up going with these. The OEM coilpacks are made by Bosch (I believe), but these qualified for Prime shipping, so I gave them a shot. Not one misfire since.
e: That link is directly from my previous orders page. Amazon parts fitment guide is wrong, so it probably will try to say that they won't fit your car. I can assure you they'll fit any R5X with the N14 or N18 motor.
Another thing you could do is to pick up a bluetooth OBD II plugin and download Torque on your phone (android only I think). You can check the fault code there and it will give you the exact code and some other great information that would serve you well before you buy the car.
All in all, its about a $35 investment, plus you can use it elsewhere.
https://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products-34t5-Bluetooth-Android/dp/B005NLQAHS https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en
Yep. You can get a cable/adapter that plugins into the OBDII port to reprogram some features. On PC you can use NCSExpert. For Android/iOS you can use BMWhat. I used Android with an OTG cable and this cable. You can program the seatbelt warnings, door open warnings, one touch for the sun roof. It's easier than using NCSExpert.
I'm pretty sure it's this one. To be honest I bought one in the store at Home Depot and it was a little bit large so I'm pretty sure this is the one I ended up using. You can find it in different finishes but this is the Chrome one

I've used this set off amazon for the front and rears of my Mini and X5. Any set off Amazon or the auto parts store will work just fine.

This was the best option I found that was weighted and short. I wanted a short shifter, but it’s not the work I wanna do right now. It wasn’t a really good fit with the Adapters I used. I just wrapped the knob stick with several layers of black tape and slapped it on. Works well.
Just did this. Bought this one and it works pretty good. Definitely worth the $300. Do you need it to fit in the back without folding the seats down? Because I think that one would fit with the seats down. You just need to measure the area where you want it to fit and then search on Amazon, there are so many. I have this one in jumbo size which definitely does not fit in the back of my Countryman unless I fold the back seats, but I think the large might. Furhaven

Solution Finish Black Plastic & Vinyl Plastic Trim Restorer - Car and Truck Polish - 12 oz

Bought the cheapest restoration kit off Amazon, it came with 800/1200/2000 grit wet sandpaper and polishing paste with a pad that attaches to their provided drill attachment.
Based off what I see, i mainly just used 2000 grit wet sandpaper.
Ignore the fact you can put the sandpaper on the drill, carry on by just sanding by hand when you feel it slides around time to clean it with water and carry on after a while wipe off
all that goop and water, see how it looks if nice all equally matt good to go with the polishing pad on the drill.
Add few drops of paste on pad smear across the headlight and start with medium speed on drill go slowly side to side and move down, add more paste based on feel. ( too much heat and friction is your enemy )
When you have buffed a full headlight clean off the paste with water and microfiber cloth, see the result, if you see any milky spots you missed keep on polishing them.
Why I don't use 800 grit, it's too aggressive and can leave deep scratches that do not likely come out with 1200 grit.

I have one that sticks to the curve on my dash, I stick it on the side (roughly on the left hand side of the right air vent in the picture), it’s mag safe compatible and so far I’ve had no issues and the location I’ve put it works for me, I can look at my GPS without taking my eyes off the road! Was cheap from Amazon too:

I feel your pain my friend because I felt your pain as well. I've been doing my own oil changes, plus those of family and friends since We've owned a house.
The wife has a fun blue '13 R60 that we custom ordered from the dealer. The oil change for this car went from being an absolute mess to being the easiest to do once I had the right tool. Like u/stuwoo mentioned you should still wrap a couple of towels at the base of the housing. Unscrew the filter until you can see the entire giant o-ring, no more, no less.
Next, use an oil extracting vacuum pump to get the oil out of the engine. It takes about 5-10 minutes to do it's thing.
Then, change the oil filter like you usually would without the typical mess. And finally, add the new oil to your R60 and continue on motoring.
I have a Rove R2. It records in 4K so you can capture license plates. It also downloads video to your phone by establishing a Wi-Fi network.
You can get Mini Specific ones that mount to the rev counter/speedo (depending on what gen you have).

I’ve got one, I much prefer it as it doesn’t take up window space! I highly recommend!!!
I tried this cause it was cheap. Stuck it to my dash back in July and it works pretty well so far.

When I took delivery of my 2023 Countryman here in Canada, one of the paperwork’s is a Mini Connected service agreement. It outlined the following “subscribed service package”:
MINI Connected Navigation Plus Remote Services Teleservices Intelligent Emergency Call Apple CarPlay® Preparation
The Navigation Plus has an expiration date of 2026 (4y after delivery date); the rest has “Unlimited” as the expiration. Now the Canadian website is as useless as the US one that it never mentioned what they are and how to subscribe after the “trial”, but the UK one is a bit better.
So it seems you get 4 Years of traffic, map update, online services (weather, gas price, etc), and online speech recognition. Where the app portion (remote unlock, status) and SOS call is lifetime.
The satellite radio is something completely different as it’s administered by SiriusXM. It looks like you get 1y trial.
RaggTopp makes a really good cleaner/protectant kit for fabric tops. You don't need to use it very often, though - maybe once a year if your car is regularly garaged.
For routine cleaning, I just wipe mine down with gentle car soap on a mitt when I wash the rest of the car.
Oh the shade really does work; I’ve left it off a few times accidentally and despite all the tinting she’s of course pointed right at the sun coming in through the front. I got mine from Sunshade on Amazon, they do custom shapes for specific models. FITS… like a glooooove!
(It will on yours too). It’s not pretty, but I’ll take effective over glam any day to keep her interior intact and cooler.
For some of my MINI customers that have Bluetooth compatibility issues with older models, I recommended that they use an Aux dongle like this
I found a US/British flag in one. It is both flags with a line from bottom left to upper right separating the two. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B09Y2B23B2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
This is the one I use on my F56; it may be overkill for a R56 but I get more info than I even need on this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J66SLK6?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
This isn't the exact one I have, but a similar style. It's the best thing I could find without using 3M tape. Windshield mounting won't really work and most other dashboard mounts are hard on that rounded surface. I spent about $13.
Only issue -- my phone overheats in the cradle in the summer and hot afternoons of direct sunlight and turns off. So I use the cupholder during those hours of the day that are hottest. But for fall/winter/spring and other times it's fine.
Unfortunately because of the windshield angle, the sun hits a lot of the interior dash area so most mounts are going to get direct or semi-direct light on the phone... So to my knowledge, there is no perfect mount for this car (that I've seen). Even the Cravenspeed one is likely not immune to this and could result in phone overheating.
I did see one once that goes into the CD holder and uses magnets to hold the phone around there-- could be a good option since it's a shadier spot, but it's so low I didn't go that route myself.
Let us know what you find though! Maybe you'll get something we don't know about.
There are a couple of hatchback racks that will fit. I currently have this on my 2013 R60 and it works great.
Those are marker lights so they don't flash. I replaced the side markers with LED markers. The link is for the front pair, there are red ones for the rear.
I have a 2012 White Countryman S, looks like yours! I got this mount its pretty solid!
I am using an Amazon Echo Auto plugged into the aux port. It not only has bluetooth but also has alexa built in. It is awesome.

You probably need to connect a smart charger to the battery and charge it over the weekend.. Depending on how much or how long you drive will regulate how much you need to charge the 12V Battery..
I have to charge my wife's 12v every 6 to 8 weeks as she does not drive very far or long.. Maybe 5 to 10 miles a week..
Here is a great charger > https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W3QT226
If it were real. I would worry it's a scam at $3.44.
Here's the one I use with Torque:

Also, did you get your rough running issue fixed?
