No offense, but I doubt the legitimacy of the 300,000 claim. The probability of not encountering one before 300,000 is so close to zero that it's not even really within the realm of consideration. This calculator rolls over to a 1 from a 99.99% chance at around 60,000 encounters, and considering that probability is exponential... well that doesn't bode well for this post's accuracy. Just from some back of the napkin calculations, the odds of not getting one in 300,000 is in the realm of
10 * 10^-17 To put that in perspective, you're more likely to see 4 full odds shinies in a row than not get one in 300,000 encounters.
I’m currently on a roamer quest which is to get all of the shiny Pokémon that roam in Gen III through IV. You can view my progress here; https://tinyurl.com/y97vca6g
I currently have three.

Super happy with this. Hopefully Raikou is next followed by either Cresselia, Mesprit or another Platinum Kanto Bird.
When breeding I save everytime after I collect the first egg that has spawned while hatching the first 5. At the moment I collect the egg the next egg 'blueprint' is generated, in my case the next egg was a shiny imperfect female noibat. This noibat had everything except the crucial special attack needed.
This meant I could safely reset my game switch parents and get a different shiny that is oriented for normal attacks instead of special attacks. The only parents were a 5 IV feraligatr but sadly no decent female totodile to hatch is a shiny totodile so I took the next best thing which was a 5 IV female charmander with egg moves. Therefore this charmander in reality would have been a noibat and thus it has an identity problem.

The particular app used by OP is Poke Genie. Better on Android, as it has the overlay feature so that you don't need to take screenshots, but the app is also available on iOS.

Thanks for the cool offer but I always prefer to catch my shinies myself. At the time I had over 100 (I used to chain a lot in Pearl and a lot of them came from that. Here's the album I posted at the time of the save corruption if you want to take a look. It was horrible losing everything at the time but at least now I have a mission...
Edit: I forgot to say, Jolteon survived the massacre! I still have the shiny Jolteon.
Just FYI, the formula the game uses to determine Hidden Power's type is based directly on IVs, and the way it works makes a 5-6IV with HP Fire impossible. The best spreads that will give HP Fire are:

Best of luck getting what you're after! I'm afraid I don't have anything to offer.
Yeah it's tough I finally caught one a few days ago though. I evolved him into all the different forms, but in the end I went with umbreon. Here's a link if you want to see them. https://imgur.com/a/wn6F5#8
You can play around on this graph here and see if you can kinda come to an answer that you are looking for
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/ub7tyorbtb
It should be noted that you would be looking at the blue line. Also you can alter the formula on the left hand side (b variable) to display RE with charm.
This app is popular for shiny hunting: https://shinyhunt.com/
Only detriment is you can't have two counters on screen at once, I would recommend a different app for that, just a generic counter type like this one

yes before you get offended because this is a pirate game and feel an urge to sell your soul and report it for copyright infringement, way to go buddy, just 999 more apps like this to go, sure that is the way of living life, sure nintendo will move an expensive lawsuit to sue an amateur developer that living in a remote island in brazil, sure they are worried...
are you using RNG manipulation? I hope you know about Emerald's broken RNG because you cannot get shinies by soft resetting normally in Emerald. You can do wild encounters and run-aways, but shinies cant be obtained by soft resetting.
lol you don't have to but if you want to

> The only time I've seen a number for the amount of eggs hatched is when I was in a battle with a passerby in one of the blue boxes that displays info about each trainer. THAT, however, is a total for every egg you have hatched. In your case though, if that's all you've done, you can challenge someone and hope to see the box pop up eventually. Otherwise, I'm under the impression there isn't a way.
Hahahaa, it was the terrible lighting in my room that made it look yellow. It's more of a lime green. This one. It came with a terrible cooking game, but I bought it when it was on sale just because it's green lol
Yeah you've got the gist of it! That's cool that this info is on the wiki now, glad the word got around. And yes the bait strat works for a few other mons, including taurous, but chancey is the one that benefits the most from it. Still worth doing for the other hard-to-catch mons. Here's a link to the original write up that professor rex did. He's the guy that figured this out -

They're just called tally counter. You can find dozens of them on amazon. I don't think anyone swears by any brands, they all do the same thing!
This guide explains it 1000x better than me but if you're going to do this id hurry because without pokecheck it's very hard to get your SID. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/921905-pokemon-emerald-version/48296893
Are you using the optimized ball/bait strategy? Makes a huge difference with chancey, almost doubles your odds of catching each one. I managed to get my lucky egg after about 40 chancey caught over 3 days
Wow congrats! I honestly wish I would choose Brilliant Diamond instead of Shining Pearl just because of that wonderful shiny. Also, if you want to get your switch videos on reddit, use the Switch Transfer Tool app. IDK if it's on IOS, but it is on Android. You download the app and in it you have the instructions needed so I don't think I have to explain. Then you get your photo/video on your phone and you can post it on reddit. That's how I do it, at least.

Yeah, I was looking for more info as well and couldn't find any. I know one member here had a shiny Ampharos but since she didn't notice that the pokemon was shiny until recently it doesn't help me figure out if you need to purify it or not to see if it's shiny.
How does this work? Can you toggle the turbo on and off? Is this the one that turbos?

Hi Orange! Here's the link for the one I bought! Amble Tally Clicker Counter, Metal Case Mechanical Clicker Digital Handheld Tally Counter with Nylon Lanyard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071FBWNMK/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_D7H53EFXSEY3ZHZSC97R?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
For anyone here that are in the comments of this post hubting for a fossil or are gonna I SOLELY RECOMMEND a turbo controller. Omfg I wish I used one from the start. Basically what it does is you hold the turbo button and press another button and the controller will keep registering that button you pressed (kinda like an auto clicker). And incase you are wondering so many do this when hunting for fossils because if you dont then your finger will hurt after a while (like mine did)

I mean a chest that could hold blue, red, yellow, gold, silver, crystal, ruby, sapphire, emerald, fire red, leaf green, and then like a slot to put a game case that could hold all the new games since there alot smaller. Something very chesty

Congrats on the short hunt! If you're planning to hunt a whole shiny team, I'd definitely recommend a clicker counter (link is just the one I got, they're basically all the same). I used one for my Gen 7 hunts and the fact I can click it with one hand without looking meant I could watch shows, use my phone, etc without looking back and forth.
I guess we both are super lucky then! The counter isn’t something super special. Here’s a link if want to know where to find it though.
Hello!,
Most people use different applications to count encounters, eggs etc. You can try and use Poketch as an example which is a handy and useful app!
ROYAL WIND Hand Tally Finger Counter, 5-Digit Counters Clicker with Case Mechanical Palm Pitch Click Number Count for Row, People, Golf, Lap, Knitting https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085W2KJYC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_Vfwsvdkn5RGgw
Hope this helps you out. I like them a lot.
you could buy from amazon... https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-12-Month-Individual-Membership/dp/B07FV64QLX/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2IYCROOPT2TNK&dchild=1&keywords=nintendo+switch+online&qid=1605634018&sprefix=nintendo+switch+on%2Caps%2C171&sr=8-1 they email you the code if you buy it, or you could get a second account, transfer thru home to the second, give the second account the nintendo switch online trial, then trade it.
For Android users there's an app too
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poketch.app
I prefer nthe site because the app doesn't sync with the cloud
Start count again. I start to use this site after filled almost 15 full boxes (at that time i wasn't using MM + Shiny Charm)
Since I'm a multi-hunter, I use Thing Counter. It keeps track of time, phases, and it's really simple.
Poketch is nice if you're doing one hunt and know what the actual odds of the method are.
It really is and with an old galaxy I can run 2 counters when doing 2 hunts at the same time, which is rare but sometimes it keeps me from getting bored https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.tsukanov.counter
The "trick" is to point the game to a different server when it attempts to reach the old Nintendo live events server, the details are laid out here. The trickiest bit of the process is that the game is so old that most wifi networks have encryption it can't use. WPA, WPA2 are too new; if you have a router that can use WEP or transmit entirely un-encrypted it should work. I know that some people have had good success with public wifi, like McDonalds or a public library, since those tends to be unsecured. Personally, I found out my router was too new, but the network repeater I use to extend signal to the far end of the house can transmit with no encryption at all. Usually a bad idea, but I was able to get Darkrai, Shaymin, and a bunch of other event pokemon.
I just use a calculator as my counter, by pressing ans+1 and then = to count it up each encounter. Lots of people use phone apps (poketch is a popular one). There are also desktop and web tally counters. And if you feel really fancy with it, you can buy a physical literal counter. Personal preference really!
I found mine on Amazon by searching for "clicker counter", ended up getting this one for $7, managed to get it shipped even with the lockdown. Makes it easy to continue SR'ing without staring at the actual number.
It's a tally counter, when I searched for it I got this result off Amazon. I'm pretty sure this is the same one I got, I find it easier than using my phone as it's attached to my 3DS case and I can absent-mindedly click away if I'm multitasking.
(Tally Counter Hand Held Clicker 4 Digit Chrome Palm Golf People Counting Club)[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000I6R1PS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RsTwEb7MCEYPG]
Here’s mine. There’s actually so many options in amazon, you can get wireless ones too.
Thanks!
That case is really nice. It’s mostly just a cover for the screen, but it has a stand built in that’s a bit more stable than the Switch’s kickstand. I’ve had it since right after the Switch’s release, and it’s only $9.
I personally use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.daisyapps.ticker since you can easily edit multiple counters at once for multiple hunts, but there are ones specifically for shiny hunting as well.
Thank you! Also, you can check https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poketch.app from a desktop computer and see if the version says 0.3.0 for you
Thanks man! Here is the link for amazon. It’s a six pack but I keep a couple around for a few different things
