> Only one PS4™ console and one PS3™ console can be used at a given time (i.e. you cannot stream PS Vue on two PS4 consoles or two PS3 consoles at any given time, but one PS4 system and one PS3 consoles can be used at the same time).
It saves to the "cloud". You don't have any options to save it locally to your own hardware. The only real limitation on their DVR is that it has a time limitation as to how long it keeps your shows, 28 days. There is no storage limit per say. There are a few channels you can't DVR as well. They have an FAQ that answers a lot of questions here
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/#h114
HBO is not available for recording. However, you can watch shows/movies on demand or at HBO NOW (included).
* Realtime and John Oliver are the only shows that are available a day later
Yeah, the Vue listing of supported applications doesn't list Cinemax as included, though HBO and Showtime are. FAQS has the list of all apps you can sign in with:
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/features/#tve
Vue is available nationwide. Access to local broadcast channels is dependent by location. Plug your zip code into the Website to see what channels you will receive.
When in doubt, always read the FAQ
What do I need to subscribe to PlayStation™Vue?
Subscribing to PlayStation™Vue is easy. You just need the following:
A supported, TV-connected device (PlayStation™4 console, PlayStation™3 console, Amazon Fire TV device, or Roku streaming device) with Internet access.
If you have multiple TVs, amazon has the Fire TV on sale right now (refurbished).
https://www.amazon.com/Certified-Refurbished-Amazon-Alexa-Remote/dp/B00UH4D8G2
I couldn't recommend the Fire TV any more strongly for using Vue. I have tried many devices but I don't have a PS4 (though I understand it's also a great experience). Just an fyi if you're looking to hook up any more TVs.
...did you see the photo in the post I was responding to? It's a photo of a vise. I was making a joke about a hypothetical show called Vise Land about vises (rather than vices).
Actually, you can't watch it on your phone, unless you have Verizon.
Fox Sports Go is only for home devices, like streaming boxes/sticks, tablets, and PCs/Macs.
https://thenextweb.com/lifehacks/2017/02/03/stream-super-bowl-51-even-dont-cable/
But your best option, of course, is an antenna -- it's the only way to get a guaranteed 60 fps.
Just got a "PlayStation™Vue is not currently available in zip code XXXX. To get an idea of what's available on PlayStation™Vue, we'll show you plans and pricing available in New York City." error on the website.
They added a preview of the guide to the website, this is super helpful for people shopping: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/live-now/
Is this true? I have used chromecast and it works. Maybe it's like the OP said and it's just DVR shows that won't play? or maybe specific shows/channels.
I'll check it out later on my TV with chromecast. I have a family member who uses that TV to stream PS Vue and Netflix, and they have not mentioned any problems streaming.
It also shows as a supported device on this page :
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/supported-devices-and-set-up/#supported-devices
I haven't ever seen the AirPlay icon though. I tried it just now on my TV with AppleTV and I don't get airplay icon when using iPad.
It’s only a problem with CBS locals in some markets. Sony had to forgo DVR rights to get these locals on the service.
The list of CBS locals that do not have DVR support is listed on their website here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/features/#dvr-restrictions
CSN is not the local regional sports network for South Carolina. I believe it is Fox Sports South and Fox Sports SE (formerly SportSouth).
Go here to see channel lineups :https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/channels/. Make sure your location is set correctly in the upper right.
I think you have to look further down at the actual list of channels offered for your location. That is a generic image I'm afraid, for I saw the same thing for the Houston market but CBS isn't actually listed.
edit: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/channels/ is where you need to look, making sure the location is correct.
Stream up to 5 simultaneously on supported devices
No, you can only stream from your home after you set your IP address. Sharing your login may result in Vue cutting your service off.
The only thing I could find is by using the 'Contact Us' info at the bottom of the Vue Faq https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/ Seems to be support links and not specifically feedback. Having once been tech support for a major company I know that if they get enough feedback over the phone, they will tell their bosses who take things up the chain.
interesting. I was trying to get the Vue mobile app to run on Remix OS which is android ported to an x86 processor but it just says the app is not supported on my device. As for the Mi Box, if you go to the AndroidTV website, its a dedicated device that runs AndroidTV as opposed to android mobile.
I use an app/site called Just Watch for TV and movies. It searches pretty much every service out there. You can filter free, subscription, rent, buy, HD and SD (sadly no UHD yet).
Hope that helps some.
Nope. Both the 2 and the 3 are 4k capable but you'd only see the difference at 60 fps for things like sports. The newest FireTV is like the stick. You need to buy a special adapter that both charges and has an Ethernet jack for the FireTV. It's stupid, but there have been rumors there's a new box with Alexa built in being released.
Your TV doesn't matter. 4k or 1080p, the only thing that matters is an HDMI is connected to your Vue compatible box (FireTV, Apple TV, Chromecast). The way it sounds, you don't have an Ethernet/wired connection and your WiFi is suspect.
Amazon Ethernet Adapter for Amazon Fire TV Devices https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074TC662N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1dTKAbY0GT1ZN
Use the NBCSN app and auth against your Vue account. Also, when NBCSN is already covering an event, for example NASCAR, you will also be able to watch matches covered on USA, CNBC and NBC (if you have locals).
It's best to check TV listings or NBC's social media feeds for the latest news. Or, and this is what I do, use an Android app named Live Soccer TV Broadcast Guide.
It's a great app that shows you every match played in the world every day and every country's TV networks to let you know where you can watch a game, even on Apps, Bein Sports Connect etc.
Here's the link to the app. It costs like 2 bucks or something for an annual ad-free sub. It's well worth paying the sub for such a good service.
I use it all the time for all leagues. Serie A, EPL, La Liga, Liga MX, Bundesliga etc.
Here#s the Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.livesoccertv&hl=en
Comcast has a 300gb data cap or unlimited for $35 additional per month. Sounds like Vue may pose a problem for some users.
I'm with Charter, let's see what they do.
Not in the sense of the word but it does cache and serve IPs if it has it instead of looking it up.
Can also set it up to be an actual server by setting it up with Unbound
https://pi-hole.net/2018/06/09/ftldns-and-unbound-combined-for-your-own-all-around-dns-solution/
I believe you should be able to fast forward through DVR content on Fox Sports 1. Most local Fox affiliate channels can not be DVR'd. You can check the list here
Live TV can not be fast forwarded ever.
Just chatted with Playstation support. This is a new error--they're working on it. Suggested that while they're working on it we just use our PSVue credentials to use the TV-Everywhere apps. Here's a list of those.
In addition... As long as you have set one of your devices as your "home" device you can have 5 simultaneous streams.
TIL - thank you. This must have been a recent update.
For those curious, please refer to this help page: Set up PlayStation™Vue on Multiple Devices
That's an old rule. You can sign up on Any device any where ,https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/subscription/#how-to
These are available: WBZ-TV (CBS), WBTS-LD (NBC), WFXT (Fox), WNEU (Telemundo), NESN, NBCSB.
FWIW I am also missing ABC (Washington DC market) and augment Vue with an antenna. It is easy to do this within 20 miles of a city.
Go here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/channels, put in your zip code at the top, then click a plan and scroll down.
PS Vue does not have CW, but does have Discovery channel. You can see the channels by plan here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/channels/.
I could be wrong, but I don't think Sling has either of them. Their channels are listed on sling.com.
DirecTV has CW, not sure about Discovery. directv.com has more.
One way around the service being bound to your home address (non mobile) is that they do provide logins for most of the network apps... so you can usually watch shows (albeit with ads) on the network app. Some networks even offer live tv on their network apps (tbs for example).
here is the list of supported network logins:
I think you might be misreading. A Vue account grants credentials for HBO Now (but not Go). What part of HBO's site says they don't? Here is an HBO page about it, and the PS Vue FAQ explicitly states that your login works on HBO Now.
According to: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/channels/ no locals available in Providence market. That said you get the RSNs, NFL network, NFL redzone is available, You can authenticate NBC and FOX apps to watch NFL. Really you just need an antenna for CBS games, or subscribe to CBS all access which just started including NFL.
Looking at your zip code on the Vue website, if anything is playing on a broadcast channel (CBS, for example), you wouldn't be able to watch it because you don't get those channels unless you get an antenna to supplement Vue. However, if something is playing on your local Fox Sports channels or Fox Sports 1/2, you'd be able to watch it as you do get those.
Yes, the Playstation Vue FAQ says:
>What is the difference between a PlayStation™Vue Plan and an individual channel subscription?
>PlayStation™Vue is a cloud-based TV service that brings you live TV, movies, sports - and now, channels you can purchase individually - without a standard cable subscription. Individual channel subscriptions through PlayStation™Vue are channels (including SHOWTIME, FOX Soccer Plus, Machinima and more, you can purchase on their own - available nationwide. You can purchase these additional channels no matter where you live in the U.S. and they can be purchased whether or not you have a pre-existing PlayStation™Vue or other TV provider subscription.
>If you already subscribe to PlayStation™Vue, you can can easily purchase an individual channel via the following steps: Settings->Modify Subscriptions->Available Packages->Add Showtime.
I'd recommend reading their faq.
For 2 it's not really a dvr. It's more of a selective on-demand service that allows you to choose your favorite shows so whenever they air, the'll be available for you to watch for up to 28 days. (Your device is only needed to select your favorite shows and stream them later.) Sometimes you can't fast forward (through commercials for example) depending on the show or channel.
Take advantage of their free 7-day trial and see if you like it. Cancel right after you signup for the free trial and then you can decide whether to pay for the service once the trial is over.
Funny thing is it is right on their site in the FAQ... https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/
What do I need to subscribe to PlayStation™Vue? Subscribing to PlayStation Vue is easy. You just need the following: A supported, TV-connected device (PlayStation®4 console, PlayStation®3 console, Amazon Fire TV device) with internet access. (Please see Supported Device FAQs for more specific information.) An account on PlayStation™Network* with an associated valid credit card, and a residential address on file. (If a PO Box or business account is associated with your account, you will need to manually adjust your address in order to subscribe to PlayStation™Vue.) Note: Your billing address must match that of your device’s location, home location, and the location you enter during sign-up. * Sony Entertainment Network
Using the controller is a good idea, that hadn't occurred to me.
If the app is installed and you just can't see it, you should be able to get to it using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.tv.sideloadlauncher&hl=en
You are exactly correct, the right stalk controls the mouse cursor. This will be useful for a couple of different things for me.
Thanks!
I downloaded this app (think this is the one op is referring to) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tvguidemobile
If I try an LA zip code like 90210, vue is there. I tried a few easy coast zip codes and got nothing.
Sorry for crappy link... on mobile.
something is clearly wrong with your latest version of the PS Vue app (V 6.3.0 ) , I’ve uninstalled it and downloaded the previous version (6.2.4) APK and it worked
older versions of the app can be downloaded HERE
well don't blame me when your credit card and bank account gets hacked.
This isn't some conspiracy theory. Already at least 3 Chinese companies have been found guilty of installing spyware in their devices: Lenovo, Asus, and Blu.
Also over 200 million chinese smartphones have hardware that allows root access to your device:
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/chinese-smartphone-might-serious-security-problem/
But go ahead and live in a dream world. And save a few bucks to get your entire bank account drained.
As an update in case anyone else is running into this. You can use Downloader to sideload / download PS VUE 4.6.2. This will get the third generation Fire TV's back up to 60 FPS. You will however lose the Alexa commands, but in my opinion I would rather have the 60 FPS instead of the Alexa commands. Here is the link to 4.6.2. Just be sure to uninstall your existing PS VUE app prior to installing because it will give an error saying that you need to update your app if you don't do it prior to side loading 4.6.2. https://www.apkmirror.com/wp-content/themes/APKMirror/download.php?id=302161
Here, have 10% off without having to sign up for a shitty credit card.
Per FAQ
If I continue my subscription, when will I receive my final charge for the service?
· Active paid subscribers will receive their final charge for PlayStation Vue in December 2019, unless they cancel prior to their billing date. After the final charge in December 2019, active subscribers will receive access to the service through January 30th, 2020.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/plan-updates/
To me this means it would go until 1159 tomorrow.
People have said that it doesn’t always happen, but according to the Vue FAQ...
“Programs saved to My DVR from FOX, FX, and FXX will not allow fast forwarding.”
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/features/#dvr-restrictions
The DVR restrictions are detailed at the link below. There are separate lists for ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. Any station listed on those lists will not record ANYTHING to the DVR. You will get some programs available VOD—mostly prime time and some late night programming. The VOD versions of shows typically aren’t posted until a day or two later and have unskippable commercials.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/features/#dvr-restrictions
When you set a program to record, Vue records EVERYTHING that matches. If you set Modern Family to record, it will record every episode, old or new, on any network. For sports like “College Football”, it does the same: every game. The DVR is unlimited so storage space isn’t an issue, but you may have to scroll thru the DVR to find exactly what you’re looking for.
As for not being able to find a specific program, if the game aired on ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox, check to see if any of your affiliates are DVR blocked. Sadly there are literally hundreds of stations from which Vue cannot record. Lists can be found at the link below. If any of your stations are on those lists, you simply cannot record anything with the DVR. Many prime time shows will be available on-demand a day or so after broadcast, but there’s no way to record sports, news, local programming or other things that are not made available VOD.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/features/#dvr-restrictions
General Hospital is on ABC, correct? You should check here to see if your local ABC affiliate restricts recording to DVR.
As u/k6usy noted, some local networks restrict DVR funtionality. Please see here for a list of said networks. (This is also available in the stickied FAQ in case you lose track of this comment.)
Check the stickied FAQ - you have to activate your Roku online first, which ties it to your subscription.
Please see here for more information.
They don't. PS Vue is unlimited DVR for 28 days of the program being recorded. For more info on the PS Vue DVR, you can read the FAQ here.
Positive. No issues with my device. And as for recording restrictions, check out this:
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/features/#dvr-restrictions
Make sure you expand the list for each network. It is a staggering long list.
Only 3 Web Browser streams can be active at once
Sony has Rules about how many of what types of devices can be streaming at once.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/features/#dvr-restrictions
Sony is terrible about updating things. I didn't see Bravo included, but I had the same issue with FX. Shows would turn to VOD within 48 hours from airing. They also still list my Fox local as no DVR but we can DVR.
Maybe a new link to add to the FAQ? Is this something they've added recently? Information only goes back one month.. Stumbled upon this while trying to see if there were any updates on Vue adding MGMHD back to the lineup.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/channel-updates/
Thanks
If you’re attempting this on ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox, are your local stations on the DVR restriction list?
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/features/#dvr-restrictions
If so, then all you get is live and on-demand. No true DVR.
A LOT of local affilliates block the use of DVR and force you to watch on demand versions of shows.
Below is a list of affilliates that block DVR, Note you must Click on ABC/CBS etc. to expand the list and see if your local broadcaster is there. - Unfortunately its the price we pay for lower TV subscription costs. You should be able to get most of your shows but On Demand means commercials.
Gotcha.
If you don't have a subscription, you won't be able to access the service. You may see what's streaming on the various packages here, but only through a web browser (not your console).
You can open up the live tile grid and select channels from there. Here is the button guide
https://secure.cdn.us.playstation.com/psvue/img/ps-vue-faq-ps4-controller-01-us-19apr18.jpg
and FAQ.
All current channel packages carry NBCSN. That's one of the things I liked about Vue since I watch Formula 1 and NBCSN carries most of the races. FS1 and FS2 are included in all packages, as well. You can see the different channel packages here to see which one might fit best for you.
I am not sure about watching these channels away from home because I rarely do it. Hopefully someone else can answer that for you.
You can watch up to 5 streams at the same time, and you can watch those streams on any device that is supported. I watch shows on my laptop quite often while my wife is watching the Fire TV. I watched several NHL playoffs this year on my laptop (they were shown on NBCSN).
Your best bet is to use the 7-day free trial to try it out and see how it works for you. Then you'll know if it's the right move.
There's actually a ton of CBS affiliates that don't offer DVR recordings. If you go here - https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/#h114 you'll see a question "Why am I unable to “DVR” certain programs or channels?" and that'll show you a bunch of CBS channels that don't allow for DVR functionality.
> I watch a lot of DVR content away from home.
How are you able to watch DVR content away from home? The FAQ
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/
says "Outside of the home, you will not be able to watch any show on PlayStation™Vue Mobile that has been recorded to My Shows as “DVR”.
When you have the opportunity tomorrow ca11 Vue @ 855-999-SONY (7669). When your in front of your TV of course.

Vue Website. Click on the GPS pin icon up top. Enter your zip. Select a plan. It will then display all available channels to you in your area. Locals will be listed if available, if not it will the On Demand option. (i.e. 90210 zip lists CBS2, my area no CBS but On Demands of the rest of the Big Four.)
Man I dug and dug through the client side source code. I could not find where appletv resolves to apple-tv. It's driving me nuts. It must be handled server side. At least for the Roku part, I'm fairly certain you're grasping at straws. Navigating to https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/?candy also results in candy#1. What I can't explain is "appletv" being parsed and changed to "apple-tv". I may look at this some more. The code formatting is fairly messy. They must be using a WSYWG editor to build/maintain the site.
Yep, it says right here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/vue/faq/

See the section on the Vue FAQ Page about access from a mobile iOS device. It explains pretty clearly the channels and features (e.g., on demand) that are available remotely.
Another thing to look at is what DNS Servers your network (and therefore your devices) are using. Changing DNS servers to something closer or more reliable may make a big difference. About 3-4 times a year I run DNS Benchmark (https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm) on my network to see if there are better DNS Servers I could be using. Just ran it today actually and found better servers. Its worth a shot.
I'm addicted to this show as well. For what it's worth though, Vudu currently has the season pass on sale for $19.99 which is a pretty good deal all things considered http://www.vudu.com/movies/#!content/846722/Bates-Motel-Season-5
We tried a Gen 2 stick and it seemed just as slow so I gave up and purchased the box.
Here is Roku's list of "Channels": https://www.roku.com/whats-on
Part of the reason Roku has so many channels is because it is insanely easy to build a channel using their toolkit so every tiny church or niche broadcaster has a channel. It is probably too much but if you have a niche interest Roku probably has a channel for it.
Just get Pluto on your Roku or Vue device. That is a news junkie heaven. Add in the very good CBS/ABC/NBC News Apps, YouTube, NewsOn, all the weather apps, and you're missing almost nothing
We had previously gotten one of Amazon's flat antennas a couple of years ago that had just okay performance. It often required adjusting to pick up one channel or another.
A couple of months ago I got a new one as a present for a neighbor. It was this one : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H1KQ3SH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was remarkably better...has a built in amplifier and it picks up everything...it's pretty awesome. More surprisingly, I left them a rave (honest) review on Amazon. Then while I was preparing to buy one of these for myself, the company sent me a free one as a thank you for my review ! That just saved me $28.
So between the great performance and the extraordinary customer service, I'd say these guys have it down, in spite of the fact that they don't seem to have an identifiable company name, just a super long product name. L
I have this remote: PDP Bluetooth Enabled Media Remote Control for Playstation 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072C7YZFC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6jqSDb2QEMDVD
For anyone wondering, you have to hold down the triangle button to access the “touch pad” button equivalent on the controller. It took me forever to figure that out and there is no other way to go to last channel without it.
I added this to both of my Amazon remotes. It has 11 programmable buttons that you can use to control your tv (or anything really).

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G3ZYY1W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Roku > Ethernet Switch (A small Linksys one) > TP Link Powerline Adaptor plugged into wall outlet. Then, in the room I have my modem/router, I have the other powerline adaptor going to my router.
I know there are better options, but here's the equipment I'm using:
Linksys 8-Port Metallic Gigabit Switch (SE3008) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F3NUUF4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5euTCb077QKPY
TP-Link AV1000 Powerline Ethernet Adapter - Gigabit Port, Plug&Play, Power Saving(TL-PA7010 KIT) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WP2ZT5N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sfuTCbEX2H3XW
This is a nice set.
But I would use the money saved and get an Amazon Cube. MOST Tv's are not there yet with the built in interference (performance wise). You will be sold the first time you walk into a room and say "Alexa, turn on the tv" or "Alexa, tune to ABC" and your will is commanded.
What you are actually looking for? restricting online usage for kids? or restricting website? or need to lock sometime for the usage of internet?
There are numerous software available but i will prefer you to go for a paid one as in past 5 to 7 months number of data breach incidents happened. I use PureVPN for peer to peer file sharing and recently they have launched new features like parental control and anti-malware etc. I guess they have an option of app, URL and content filtration as well.
Go to unlocator's website, sign up for the trial. Then choose the device you want to unlock restrictions on. Basically, CBS All Access and several other services look at your IP address to see if your area is eligible. Unlocator just tells CBS you're in a different place than you actually are. CBS All Access wasn't available for my local station, so now I'm hooked Into the NYC feed.
You don't really choose where you get re-routed to. Unlocator has a DNS they have you enter into the DNS settings on your device. When I did and went to "Live TV", I was getting the "local" weather forecast for New York, so that's how I know where I was routed to.
I had to use Unlocator to get my CBS All Access to work this week for the NCAA games. Worked like a charm. I was able to get the other 3 from my Apple TV March Madness Live app, and now I get the other one.
You can use separate routing patterns with ddwrt based on the radio. the simplest way to achieve is through the astrill applet with ddwrt. Works very well if astrill is your provider. Note: Astrill gives errors with a tri band router in the logs but it works well.
You can select certain devices to pass through VPN if needed.
This link shows how to add cyberghost as an open vpn client to DDWRT, but you will have to look into how you can only route specific devices out that client connection, or if everything goes out that when it is connected. After doing a little research, you might want to think of this backwards. It seems after setting up the openvpn connection, your regular traffic will NOT be routed out that. You will have to create a route between your lan and your tunnel interface. You are almost definitely going to need to set up VLANs.
?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/667/312/how-to-configure-openvpn-for-flashed-dd-wrt-routers (its very possibly you already know this information about how to use the OpenVPN client feature of DDWRT to connect it with CyberGhost)
This might provide a little insight into the routing
For the buccos I paid for a service called Unlocater and used MLB TV. Unlocater is $5 per month and I cancelled about 2 weeks ago after the buccos had that long losing streak and the Steelers started up again.
Unlocater is easy to setup; basically you change the DNS on your router and add your IP to the Unlocater database by clicking a hyperlink.
I used my Apple TV and Roku to watch the games and it worked fine. However, there are some issues with devices like the FireTV.
Also Netflix doesn't work when using Unlocater.
Next year MLB TV is getting rid of blackouts so you'll be able to watch the buccos as long as you have a login from a friend with cable. For me I'll just use my parent's account.
I'm more of an NBA fan than a NHL fan so I won't be doing anything for the Penguins. Generally speaking I'll watch the playoff games but thats really it. Unlocator should work for NHL TV though.
False. I have had luck with VPN. VPN's absolutely provide "stable IP" addresses. What are you even talking about, man?
At this point, I'd say it's gonna be a little trial and error. I used Private Internet Access for awhile and it worked for a long time. At some point, though, it started leaking. I'd imagine a better VPN would probably work pretty well.
I live in Florida and watch Vue as a Chicago area subscriber.
I tried it behind VPN and without. I tried it on PS4 and on FireTV with a different PSN Account as well. I wanted to rule out everything. I'm tempted on signing up with a Static Astrill and assign it to the PS4 through DDWRT and have PS4 fix the connection. ddwrt on vpn has been fairly stable.
precisely the point I'm trying to make. There are other services that will authenticate if the DNS touching them are in the US regardless of the IP. Unlocator and unotelly are one of them. You can use hulu/netflix etc. Vue is one of the few that authenticates based on IP locations. It is a rock solid product though.
I didn't mean to say they do it well. Its the most annoying authentication I've seen to date. I have dd-wrt too and with astrill you can setup VPN on specific radios or even a selected device. My Astrill is expired and these days I'm contemplating on resubscribing with astrill with static and subscribing back to Vue. I have the local provider here and we do get most of the channels but not the usual US content. Its more UKish.
Whole home VPN requires a certain router flashed with DD-WRT firmware.
This is a good place to start:
Beyond that, Google "VPN" and you'll see plenty providers. I currently use Private Internet Access. Inexpensive and seems to offer a reliable, robust service.
Yeah. There was some A's documentary on CSNCA and, when the game started, it went to Vue's blackout screen - something about content being unavailable for streaming over the internet. Started checking out other channels and, even though the Guide listed CSNCA+ as Sign Off, apparently the game was on there.
Hoping it was just a one time error because I'd easily replace +Unlocator (and and FoxSoccer2Go) with Vue.
I bought this remote so my wife would feel more comfortable when we cut the cord and switched to vue and it’s worked really well. I’d say she had a two day learning curve at most.
You could try going with an powerline adapter to convert your wifi to wired through your home wiring. Something like this -- https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Powerline-Adapter-Ethernet-Passthrough/dp/B0778Y6K6N/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1542725036&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=powerline+adapter
If you do want to go back to cable, I'd suggest that you purchase a used/refurb cable box to avoid the rental fees associated. Or you could get a TiVo/DVR that'll play with your cable company nicely.
There's ways around the cable companies' rental fees.
If you go with an antenna make sure you don't go with one of those cheap paddle looking pieces of plastic ones. Get a legit antenna.
I went with this one off of Amazon and it's worked perfectly for me. It's picking up over 40 stations, half of which I never even knew I had access to over the air. And a lot of them are in HD.
What HDMI cable are you using? Have you tried buying a 4K UHD cable like this?
HDMI Cable 10 FT (4K UHD HDMI 2.0 Ready) - Braided Cord - Ultra High Speed 18Gbps - Gold Plated Connectors - Ethernet & Audio Return - Video 4K 2160p HD 1080p 3D - Xbox PlayStation PS3 PS4 PC Apple TV https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CRA11IU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_bi.TAb6TAH9PV
I am using Vue on Amazon Fire TV (2017 edition, 4K UHD) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N32NCPM/ref=ods_gw_smp_ne_fam_pres?pf_rd_p=427a31fc-9400-45eb-b43c-28e9f7fc8c60&pf_rd_r=Y0AVXT1PPD28EDKX287F
... and Vue works fine.
I use it with 2nd gen Amazon Fire TV boxes and it works great.
Amazon stopped selling it awhile ago, now offering a $70 dongle that should work at least as well, I'd think. There's supposed to be a replacement 'box' model soon with Echo stuff built in, but if you don't want that Echo stuff, I wouldn't wait.
The Apple TV 4K is pretty nice, but at $180+, it's hard to justify over the Fire TV or Roku (though I didn't mention Roku above because the Vue app specifically on it isn't so good. It's apparently getting improved soon)
There are TVs with Roku or Android TV built in, which Vue has apps for. Performance will, of course, vary between TVs.
You could also buy the new Fire TV or a Roku Premier+ / Ultra. I use prior-gen Fire TV boxes myself and have no complaints about performance.
Thanks. I have this https://www.amazon.com/Portal-wifi-router-technology-affordable/dp/B01JQROZZS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501873895&sr=8-1&keywords=portal+router
and I it has been working great now. Not sure if vue was doing some work or what, but I haven't had any issues. I also kept my old gateway from verizon and disabled wifi from the gateway which may have made it better.
I bought this attic antenna from Amazon for like $30. It's been a great purchase for me. Cheap and it works fantastic. I use a 6 way powered splitter with it to send the antenna signal to every TV in my house. Works great.
Do you like the remote? I've been reading that people don't find it ideal for Android TV, especially with Vue. I've been expecting to purchase a more user-friendly third party remote like this: https://www.amazon.com/Updated-FeBite-Wireless-Keyboard-Compatible/dp/B015O5UM6M/ref=pd_cp_23_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B015O5UM6M&pd_rd_r=T7S6GBTXFJZ0MKH5G3GT&pd_rd_w=Z7q7B&pd_rd_wg=wChaQ&psc=1&refRID=T7S6GBTXFJZ0MKH5G3GT
Some of the 2015 models on Ebay get bundled with the new remote too.
I use one of these and it works pretty well. It doesn't automatically start Vue on my FireTV, not sure if that's even possible.
