Personally I'm using a Boyata stand for my innovator. It's easy to use and can be adjusted to any angle you want. I feel very comfortable drawing with it. https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-Boyata-Foldable-Heat-Vent-Adjustable/dp/B07HBQSCM3
Good luck to you and your son!
Oh yeah, I saw the remote. If you get the Pro, then the remote is useless because that was the only useful part was the scroll wheel it includes.
A lot of artists actually buy this: https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Tartarus-Progammable-Detachable-Mecha-Membrane/dp/B07754PYFK?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
You can map any shortcut you want, and it gives you a hell of a lot more buttons than the remote does, for $30 more.
And it also includes scroll. I've debated on buying it just as an extra piece so I can map a few more keys.
The Pro 16 TP would be great for 4k, if you're a professional artist. But the killer for me is the lack of macros. I'd like a better display, but I really need those buttons.
one big upside to the artist 12 2nd gen is that it allows you to use USB C cable instead of a messy three-plug cable. However that laptop doesn't support it. If you think that there's a chance she might upgrade her laptop then the ability to use a single USB C is a huge convenience. If that's unlikely then it's not as much of a factor.
The pro has a wheel which a lot of people consider priceless - that being said you can also purchase accessories that can do the same thing if you really need https://smile.amazon.com/XP-PEN-AC19-Shortcut-Express-Keyboard/dp/B01NC2LEYP so that's also not a deal breaker.
The 2nd gen 12 comes in colors (if that's important to her) and has the newer pen (and is just a newer release than the 12 pro).
displayport , as in the older macbooks? That is just a video port, I think? If you search on Amazon "usb-c display cable" you can find them. Something like this one: https://www.amazon.com/NIMASO-USB-Display-Thunderbolt-Compatible/dp/B07VCPC8X1
Ah, I see! I am using the 2022 Gigabyte Aorus 15P gaming laptop from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09XMKVLBY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Looking at it now though, I don't know if it is a "Full-feature" port. I plugged it into the tablet and it turned on perfectly fine. It's just the mouse lags severely behind when I make those long or fast brush strokes :(
Real quick I am going to swap the cable for the 3-in-1 and see how things go.
I haven't. I'm using the pen that came from this tablet, and while I do have spare nibs, I don't know how to change them. I can't see any screws or markings on the pen that would suggest how to take it apart, and I'm worried about forcing any parts out/open in case I damage the pen irreparably.
The best way to figure it out would be to actually see the space you have to work with.
Another idea would be to buy an "arm".
They clamp to the side of a desk, and the tablet rests on a floating surface that you swing to wherever you are sitting.
You'd have to shop around, but I'm throwing a link to one just to show you what I mean:
If you can find one that supports the size of tablet you want to buy (IE: 13.3, 15.6 etc).
Sure thing!
Also, besides my stand I use that I linked above; they also have "arm" stands if that's your thing.
They clamp on to the side of your desk and you can swivel it around. Sort of like this: https://www.amazon.com/NB-North-Bayou-Computer-4-4-33lbs/dp/B07NQ56KGK/ref=sr_1_23?crid=2S4TXOWJH3JKQ&keywords=arm+stand+monitor&qid=1664489076&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIyLjkxIiwicXNhIjoiMi41MyIsInFzcCI6IjIuMjQifQ%3D%3D&s=office-products&sprefix=arm+stand+monito%2Coffice-products%2C146&sr=1-23&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.08f69ac3-fd3d-4b88-bca2-8997e41410bb
I use this for my two big monitors; I haven't used it for the tablet because I like to rest my arm on my desk when I draw.
The cable I'm using rn is this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0891W6P4B/
Tried a few others I have when trying to figure out an issue, and they all seemed to work, so I think you shouldn't have much trouble finding something that will work for you.
You dont even need to go for a ergotron. You can save some money and get something like this
its what I got and its holding the 24 pro just fine and doesnt cost an excessive amount of money
oh I use tweezer all the time and had no problem.
kinda waste but get like this nib tweezer?
I know this is an old thread, but if anyone is still looking for a solution, I'm using this for my 15.6 pro. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V33L7UK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It fit's perfectly and holds it firmly. You have to crank the tension down to minimum since the tablet is so light, but it works well.
I had the same problem. I use a display port to hdmi adapter.
This is the Amazon link to the one I use. I love StarTech for my computer and table accessories. They may cost a little more, but I have never had one their products fail yet.
The cable you left at home, is it usb c to usb c? If so then I'm sure you know it works. Just wondering because not all USB ports can carry video but if you successfully did it at home that way, then you're fine. If you had triple cables at home then you want to make sure your laptop supports video in the USB C ports.
I use this cable with my artist 12 2nd gen and it worked fine other than being too bulky to fit well in the hole so I had to grind down the housing to get it to fit properly.
You wanna look for a USB C cable that can do display which might say "display port over usb" or might say "thunderbolt." If in doubt look for language in the listing that says what video resolution it supports. The one I linked also says "8K@30Hz/5K@60Hz" which are video specs so you know it does video.
Some fancy stationery shops sell pen loops for attaching a pen to a notebook. Like this thing https://www.amazon.ca/Leuchtturm-1917-304637-Loop-Black/dp/B002CWMAPW?th=1
You can probably make something similar?
I bought the cheapest arm from North-Bayou and it's been working well for me for a couple of years. I've switched several display tablets, it still holds.
Yeah throw away a whole tablet instead of ordering another cable. That makes tons of sense. Just toss a $200 tablet because of a $20 cable not showing up in the mail...
This is the stand that I have. It is a little pricey, but I like the having the ability to recline and raise my Artist 13.3 Pro as I work.
There you go. I don't know if there are better options, I just like the texture. If you buy it make sure the glass is completely clean to minimize bubbles.
I had the same fear of ruining the tablet so I get you lol.
Why did you not simply use an adapter for your monitor to free up the HDMI port?

And HDMI>USB-C works, even HDMI->USB-A with drivers do according to this: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB-HDMI-Adapter-External/dp/B00H91BQ7Y
For those that have an actual HDMI port: Why no one of you do the opposite, and use an adapter for your main monitor to free up the HDMI for the tablet?

For the one that don't: And USB-C>HDMI or DisplayPort>HDMI adapter should work. The USB-A>HDMI adapter requires a driver but should work too: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB-HDMI-Adapter-External/dp/B00H91BQ7Y

I advise to buy from Amazon (not third party sellers), so that you can send it back for free if it actually doesn't work, but no reason that it should not
There are RTX 3080s made by many different companies. Mine is made by Asus but yours could be by MSI, EVGA, etc. Or it could be the NVIDIA founders edition. That’s fine though. If your 3080 has only one HDMI port but it DOES have a display port, you could get an adapter like this) that would let you plug your tablets HDMI cable into a display port on your video card. That’s the major hurdle here I think, not the resolution. Your tablet and monitor both have to be plugged into your GPU.
For screen tablets?
I had bought this one: DisplayPort to HDMI, Benfei Gold-Plated DP Display Port to HDMI Adapter (Male to Female) Compatible for Lenovo Dell HP and Other Brand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017Q8ZVWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8TD5JGK7ZQDAZ0GSFW4S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Amigo haga un poco de presión con una goma de borrar de este tipo:
https://www.amazon.es/CAJA-GOMAS-BORRAR-CUADRADA-MIL%C3%81N/dp/B0085Z9JQI?th=1
como si quisiera borrarlo, a mi me funcionó y con dos tabletas diferentes. : ) Un saludo y suerte.

Is this the USB-C Extender you need?
Sorry for the late reply, but there is one on amazon that I found here. Otherwise I'd recommend finding a generic protective sheet or a larger tablet protector and using an exact-o knife or box cutter and cut to size if you only need to cover the drawing surface, or if you're just trying to avoid scratches/gouges just get a carrying case, the pen doesn't seem to scratch or cause any major wear for me, though I'm sure it will smooth down the surface in due time like the rest.
Try on a website like https://aggie.io/ if you don't get the problem then it is an issue with the app or brush settings.
I made a blending brush that looked like that when I tried to use it as a paint brush in Photoshop this was done under brush settings > Brush tip shape > spacing and increasing that.
Just use a normal hard brush with 100% flow and now spacing or scattering and if you still have a problem check you have the latest drivers and have set your xp-pen to your primary display.

I think this one
I loved this one, I have the same tablet and this prevents it from slipping. I doubt the other one in this thread have the same protection. ^^ https://www.amazon.com.mx/dp/B07B2FKTXP/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_B8VT34SR9FDT53J8PQ8T
Good morning. I purchased an iVANKY Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor. I’ve purchased this brand before and had no issues. Same with this one. Here’s the link:
What’s your daughter’s setup like? Is the adaptor plugging directly into the computer or into a dock?
thanks thats helpful. I think i may get these and a proper arm and find a good way to set it up. right now i have this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FOTABWY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which works but could be a LOT better/more movable
no Im not talking about the monitor vesa, there are vesa mount that are designed for laptops. This is what I use https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00CM9NG1W/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
ah I see, well the only way I can think of is to actually physically mod the tablet using a industrial glue or something to attach a vesa plate in the back if you are willing to go that far, otherwise you can just get those univesal vesa clips like this one.
Ive never used one myself but it looks like it could work.
The only mount you'll ever need. This thing is the most sturdy mount I've ever purchased and you will not regret it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VD5F83T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think the American site uses this link: https://www.storexppen.com/buy/87.html
But it also just says it's a USB-A to USB-B cable, which is one of the most commonly used cables for printers. So you can find them all over the place, like on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-2-0-Cable-Male/dp/B00NH11KIK
There are longer cables too, just make sure it's USB-A male to USB-B male (and not the blue 3.0 version, it's a different connector)
For sure buddy. Im not sure how many keys your pressing but you could look into a hotkey remote controller like this
Oh and a sudden random thought, you could look into how to use the open source software called AutoHotkey and probably assign it to the tablet. It's got a lil learning curve but should be able to handle what you're intending.
I've had the Xpen deco 01 v2 for 3 years and it has been a great experience overall.
-It has a big surface
-Buttons for keyboard shortcuts,
-It has a stand for the pen that makes it look pretty fancy
-Has a glove for more comfort when drawing
-Drivers are easy to install
-It has a usb port if you want to connect your tablet to your phone and draw there
It offers more stuff than wacom tablets for a cheaper price
It costs $69.99
Not with the current wires obv, but I would assume that you could with the current adapters online that can change the HDMI to USB C such as this one :P
Off hand, I'd say the easiest thing would be to go into display settings (right-click the desktop) and choose to mirror your XP-Pen & your larger monitor. That way the same thing is shown on both screens so while you're technically editing in the XP-Pen, you can see what your doing on the other monitor. As a bonus, you can look down at the XP-Pen for more precision if you need to. To switch back go back into display stings and select extend.
Alternately, you could buy an HDMI Splitter (I bought this one because I needed to split between 4k & 1080p). With that, your two monitors will ALWAYS show the same screen, so you could use one, the other, or both, without having to fiddle with the settings, but you won't be able to extend the display across the two (i.e. you can't show different things on the two monitors).
Got myself a generic laptop/tablet stand that was adjustable up to 90 degrees like this one.
Served me well before deciding to go for a desk mount with a vesa adapter (bought separately).
I bought an HDMI-Splitter to solve the same problem. One HDMI IN and two HDMI Out. Inexpensive and works perfectly. Here's what I bought:
I don't return it to the eshop. The first was from Poland for about 4 EUR. But nowhere is there anything about USB3.1 support. And I read that these cheap bites tend to be more easily involved. So probably according to the USB2.0 standard. I have now ordered this model see. url.
They directly describe that it is USB3.1 with support for HDMI, Ethernet and 10GB speed. There are also positive answers to connecting a VR set. Anyway, it's for 10 EUR, so I ordered it and I will report when it comes. Otherwise, I'll have to create a cover or extension in CAD and then print it out on a printer to prevent that hand from being destroyed. But this would be perfect to work, it. I tried the ordinary one, and the tablet function without display works. The design is great and will not interfere.
Otherwise, it would certainly be good for the manufacturer to think about it and give in the future, just like with the higher series, to start supplying the L terminal or extension.
XP-PEN sells the Artist 12 pro screen protector separately if you need it.
That said your Artist 12 pro should have a screen protector already installed on it, but if you're at a point that you need to change yours out due to scratches and stuff then I'll link the amazon page to the screen protector.
I would like to say "yes" on you being able to pick up the cables but the thing is if the cables they have specifically are designed solely to make the innovator work then it's a no.
For example, take apple or samsung new phones. While you can use an AUX cord to play music in your car, if you don't use their own aux cord then the volume of the device will not be used at its full potential. I would suspect it would be the same thing with XP-Pen cables.
Best bet would to just buy their own cable.
Here is the cable on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/XP-PEN-suitable-Innovator-Drawing-Display/dp/B08G16TGRK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3DP4JMQ6B16JT&dchild=1&keywords=xp+pen+innovator+16+cable&qid=1611100880&sprefix=xp+pen+in%2Caps%2C208&sr=8-1
To be perfectly honest, the stand that comes with the tablet is bad. Poor quality material.
I bought my XP Pen Pro and received it a few days later. Opened the box, saw that stand, the material it was, and that it only snapped to one position.
I immediately went online and bought a better variant.
If you have a spare $38.00, you will not be disappointed: https://www.amazon.com/Parblo-Universal-Adjustable-Graphics-Monitors/dp/B07B2FKTXP
It is far better than the original, and snaps all the way to 90 degrees up, and lays completely down. Plus the snapping mechanism is made from metal, not plastic.
About the only way to fix your issue is to get a strong tape and tape it in place.
Last month someone posted about this and said they use a regular vesa mount and an extension that holds their tablet in place. Here is the link for the extension: https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Universal-Portable-Adjustable-MOUNT-UVM02/dp/B08LL73T31. It should work with any vesa mount.
This is more whether you want an Artist or an Artist Pro model. I don't think anything is different between the sizes besides the size.
The Pro has more shortcuts, a scroll wheel, better anti-glare and color, comes with a little stand, and has tilt (I'm pretty sure the regular models don't have tilt).
I'm happy with the Artist 12 Pro I have. I use the scroll wheel and all 8 shortcut keys so the fact it has those added bits is nice. I don't really use tilt, but I keep trying to find ways too because I think it's cool.
I personally think i would take the 13.3 Pro out of the three, but it really depends on if you think you'll use the extra features it adds. I like the pro features, but not enough to justify the added $100 for the 15.6 Pro.
The Wacom One has gotten good reviews too so something to look into
Try this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B005HTU45U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.qslFbW9Z1FYR it's what I use on everything and I do lit stick them anywhere I like to have a pen or my tablet pen handy. I greatly dislike xp-pens holder as it doesn't stay put and I can never find a place for it where its reachable.
Amazon and mainly eBay. I wish I could give you more specifics but I have no PC for a while :/ It is a bit of a lottery, I bought various styles/materials to find the ones I liked. Another thing you could try is making your own with silicone putty mix! After you mix the soft putty, it goes hard in about a minute and turns to rubbery silicone. I use PEBEO Siligum: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0093X2CQK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cUu1EbYVT6J7W
I've come across these on Amazon before, but have never personally tried one. You could use this adapter to mount onto some type of ergotron arm between pen or display only use. You may just need to be careful not to put too much pressure on the edges of the display itself when transitioning.

Any brands you'd reccomend? I was thinking about this
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-4-Port-Individual-Switches-HB-UMLS/dp/B00BWF5U0M
But I'm unsure if that would work. I'm planning on getting an xp pen artist 13.3 pro
