Had a speaker for domestic abuse in health class today, which was actually kind of fun. I also got work papers, because I apparently already have a job at this place I was going to apply to. Gotta return those papers to my school tomorrow to get a permit, and then I start getting income! I came home, did homework, and now I'm playing Thracia. Chapter 21 is kind of bullshit lol. I also read a bit of the Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (took the quote right out of my copy) and I've gotten to Book V.
Oh right, I actually did something today.
I went running today again, but this time with my mum, so we drove to the fancier, cooler, flatter lap (in this case, just running up and down a curved path), which amounted to 55 mins of total runnage. #ACCOMPLISHMENT
Later on, I decided to start with the training regimen /u/SC0TT1337 linked to me months ago, and /u/SilentMasterOfWinds joined in on the fun. Let it be known to the world that plank jacks are pure evil.
Of course, it's Christmas, so I had a nice Christmas dinner of rolled roast, dumplings and red cabbage with my mum today! This was actually before the home workout, but chronology in day recitals is overhyped anyway. We also watched various Christmas movies on TV but didn't finish a single one.
Lastly, I played some Sm4sh with Silent and /u/Craig-Perry2 and didn't get owned as hard as yesterday, so salt levels were overall manageable. A day of small successes! I want more of these.
I once made a password for the NES port of the original Metal Gear. I didn't use a generator or a premade password.
One morning, using this guide, I just went through and flipped all the bits I wanted. Then I calculated the checksum. First time I screwed up.
This was when I was in grade school.
Finished streaming PoR Chapters 16/17 today
RIP Makalov, you'll be joining Astrid and Zihark in the afterlife while Gatrie does who knows what, and Lethe stays behind in Gallia licking her wounds.
Anywho, pretty uneventful today so far. Was going to go out to eat with family, but we'll likely do it tomorrow instead as the snow is falling hard outside. In April. So I'm just having a Grateful Red IPA by Capital Brewery
I recommend the program flux, it's a program where it tints your screen in such a way that it does not stress your eyes as much. Also it does it automatically based on the time of day.
Warning, long post ahead.
I've found a website which is great for worldbuilding: it's called nationstates.net.
Nationstates.net is a free online game where you get to create your own country; you handle it's development and engage in roleplaying and diplomacy with other players' countries, as well as a world assembly. I have done nothing so far in the multiplayer, but I've been doing single-player for a few days. Each day, you are given certain issues, representing arguments occurring in your country. Which side you take on the argument (or if you dismiss the argument altogether) changes how your country develops.
There are two things that are extremely useful for worldbuilding: semi-randomly generated descriptions and the Factbook system.
When you create a nation, you're given a short quiz determining the politics and background of your country. Combined with your stance on issues, Nationstates creates a semi-randomized description of your country's society, culture, government, and economy. Some things, such as the leading industries of your economy, is randomly generated, but it's strongly based on your choices.
The Factbook is one of the best parts of Nationstates for worldbuilding. The Factbook allows you to write and document descriptive articles about your nation, and allows you to sort them by category. It's great for filling in excess information you need while writing.
This link brings you to the nation creation page.
If you want an example of what a created nation looks like, here's mine.
I'm streaming it on Fridays due to my work schedule and wanting to have Saturdays free.
Here's an archived link to my stream from last night
Note there are some audio issues for the first half of it or so, it WAS my first time ever streaming something after all
Hoping to have my Streams at an earlier time on Fridays so the Europeans can watch if they were interested
Also, I've heard of Sun King Breweries, but haven't had any of their beers yet, sadly
I bought three more volumes of Tokyo Ghoul, and bought the Female Corrin Amiibo. It wasn't in any of stores in my area so I had to order it on Amazon. Hilariously enough, the Female Corrin Amiibo is $94.94, but the Female Kamui Amiibo is only $38.00. I don't give a shit if the package is in Japanese, the amiibo itself is the same. Getting it in store for $15.00 would've been best, but I'm not about to complain given how annoying it is to pick these up. I'll pick up Male Corrin at one point or another, just not immediately (oh, and there's only $1.00 price difference between Male Corrin and Male Kamui, why I don't know).
I am also in the midst of downloading Civilization VI. The Digital Deluxe edition was on sale for 40% off, $62.99 altogether which is far better than $104.99. For comparison, the regular version is normally $79.99 and was 33% off for $53.59, and the five currently released DLC as a total price of $31.95. I imagine a complete edition with expansions and stuff would be dirt cheap a couple years from now, but eh, whatever.
So yeah, solid day overall.
I stayed at the shop 20 minutes after closing just to balance this ONE fucking tire but no matter how much weight I added it just needed another quarter ounce here, another half ounce there... once I got it to .25/.25 I said "fuck it" and left. I felt a little bad for leaving it for someone else to handle (I won't be in tomorrow), but god damn it I wasn't about to waste any more time on that fucking tire. Sometimes I HATE big cars.
It was also ~17 degrees all day, though at one point it got all the way up to 23. So I'm very happy to be home in front of the fire with my dog now.
On a positive note, I started a GREAT book that I got for my birthday called "The War of Art". So far it feels both universal and very personal, if that makes any kind of sense. But it's great so far. Anyone read it?
I actually tend to read more manga, but I've read a few books.
I've read just about all of the Halo books, and loved them.
I read the Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (Mah boi) and that was fantastic.
Also read the Dunwich Horror, and loved that.
Mentions go out to all of Cicero (Mah boi) and Virgil and Seneca as well.
EDIT: Also the Art of War by Sun Tsu. Some good shit there.
Picking one is hard. 3 books I'd rank as some of my favorite would be:
The Dunwich Horror by H.P. Lovecraft
The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Mario by Eiji Mikage
From now on my post in this thread will consist of half the previous day and half the current day because fuck time zones.
So for Easter I had dinner with a friend and we decided where we would go by Smash. I rekted him as Bowser and decided where to go (Pork Cutlet for dinner btw). Then I got home and grinded MH4U for about 7 hours. I made it from HR 6 to G-rank and crafted G-rank stuff.
I also found I neat little game on the Google Play store called "Tap Titans" so I'll be hooked on that for a bit.
Today nothing much happened yet, doing laundry, cooking food, etc.
Hey, did you know ReLIFE is getting an anime adaptation?
[spoiler] (#s "I thought An was part of the experiment too! I still think she's just messing with him though.")
Yes I already watched most of it and it's a great action fantasy about a sheltered princess who learns to be strong and brave person through her journeys and hardships. The first episode may seem a bit slow or that the series is just anime goofiness, but it better at the end of episode 1 and continues getting better at episode 2. I read a review on Yona, it made some good points and I agree with it, but it has some spoilers. Basically it says the show may look like a generic shojo fantasy, but it actually really good and it's main female protagonist is well written. The review says the anime does a great of showing how Yona became a badass and it hasn't been this well since Sailor Moon (I only watched a few episodes of Crystal, but this sounds really cool). The other characters are well written too like the blue dragon he's a pretty interesting and Hak is awesome, but I won't spoil it for you. The main villain is pretty interesting too, he's written well so he's not generic and so you'll like it when focus shifts to him. I don't want to spoil more, the review explains all this stuff anyway like how the ending isn't conclusive. I'm almost at the ending and it's fine if it isn't conclusive there's a manga and there's going to be a OVA even through I can't find any info on it. My recommendation to watch at least 2-3 episodes to see if you like it, I liked the series after episode 1 in fact it's hard to stop watching that's why I'm almost done with it.
For today and last weeks streams, yes
IIRC Twitch only keeps them archived for so long (like two weeks?) so that's why the prior parts are missing. Hopefully I can find a way to get it to archive longer than two weeks.
I love rainy days. Walking in the rain is the absolute best feeling. Having it rain in the night is also a perfect sleeping aid.
I think a lot of people here might like this site if they haven't heard of it already.
Today was boring until revscarecrow started streaming. Just played FNV and talked to people over Steam. Also, here are some images of my Fallout 3 character I mentioned last night:
I made a character so ugly, he looked like that as a kid. Then I glitched the game and got to the Escape! version of Vault 101 by clipping out-of-bounds. That visor is armor not working properly with his head.
Well you're most welcome.
If you're not opposed to trying visual novels, ^^thatmayormaynothavesexscenes then it's free to download and play. It's very good and quite touching, and, considering it was made by a bunch of people from 4chan, the topic it mainly focuses on (besides romance) is handled with a delicate normality that was very refreshing.
Computer shopping blows.
I'm not sure what you plan on doing with it, but for what it's worth, I ended up going with this one. But I'm planning on both playing games and streaming with it, so if you don't need that, you can obviously find something much more affordable than this.
My best advice would be to not overthink it too much. I've been obsessed with reading every review I could, panicking about all the things that could go wrong, but in hindsight I really don't think it's necessary, especially if you want a simpler rig than this one. All you need to do is avoid the truly trashfire ones, and if a computer has ~4.5 stars on whatever site you look at, chances are the problems people have with it are getting bum ones. Just skim reviews for any consistent complaint, but otherwise don't sweat it too much.
Phrase. Phrase. Uhh. 何 means "what." As you probably know as a denizen of the internet, it's pronounced nani, though sometimes it's just nan. So following up on yesterday, to ask the time, you'd say 何時ですか、(nanji desu ka) "what time is it?" Okay, it's literally "what hour is it," but I don't make the rules. Anyway, I purposely didn't use a question mark! You don't actually need to as the か (ka) does the work for you. You still see it around, but it isn't strictly necessary. See? I definitely prepped for tonight and didn't just wing it off the top!
Anyway, I've barely touched my usual apps today, not that you could tell, because I've spent most of that time enjoying the jackpot I hit. There's a very creatively titled app called Japanese Kanji Study and it is phenomenal. I genuinely can't think of anything else this app could add. It gives you a study plan thing for 80 kanji for free (and it's a paltry amount to permanently gain access to thousands more), but I haven't even touched that yet. I've been too busy looking at the insane dictionary. It has every radical and kanji in it. It's got stroke order, decomposition of the radicals so it's extremely easy to understand, all meanings, all pronunciations, voice clips, example sentences that include furigana (where they place kana above the kanji so hacks like me can read it), and just. God. If you know anyone who's studying Japanese and has an Android, this app is remarkable.
Nah, nothing to figure out. For a separate purchase, Amazon Japan only had a CD with the endings to both seasons. Something like $30 after shipping and all that for a CD with 4 songs. The full soundtrack was only included with the Blurays, and ideally I would only want to purchase Volume 1, 4, 7 which totals up to ~$120 before shipping and stuff on Amazon Japan. Oh, and that's actually not counting Vol. 7 which is out of stock. Purchasing the full 9 volume box set would be around $1000 since it's an exhibitor item, and purchasing them all separately would be over $500. So uh, yeah, I'm pretty fucked when it comes to getting the soundtrack.
Late Updaaaaate
I went to the movies with my dad after work! I saw The Transformers Movie, which I think I mentioned yesterday. I become more aware of it's flaws every time I watch it (direction was ambitious but messy, especially for what felt like 5 frames per second) but god damn do I love it to death. Now I'm looking at toys on amazon and getting hard, metaphorically, from nostalgia. I'm reaaally eyeying these Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime figures. They're like two toys in one, and I love it. There's also a good-looking cheap Grimlock I could get my hands on... alas, I have to use my money to buy a birthday gift instead. It'll be fine.
Have the house to myself this weekend again, but there's no splatfest to keep me occupied... I guess I'm just grinding in Warriors all day!
Have you read "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain"? Because your last paragraph makes me think you have because the first few chapters was all about explaining that and other psychology related to drawing.
Heh, I also dislike the Democrats. Go figure.
Then again I'm going to be advocating for as much freedom of... anything, really, as possible. I think the most extreme I went was saying that Mein Kampf should not be banned because:
People are going to download it off the internet anyway.
Ok, if it is banned, then something like Das Kapital should be banned as well because the doctrines lead to millions of deaths and a horrible future for most countries. Or The Wealth of Nations if we're going to please those that go against capitalism.
Yeah, ban one thing, you better have a freaking great way of making me agree with you that this thing should be banned because you're essentially saying that if X is offensive to Y group, then why don't we ban A which is offensive to B group?
And that pretty much means that people can censor me.
I prefer death to silence.
Ahhh, this is always a hard one. For me it has to be one of: The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, The Dunwich Horror by H.P. Lovecraft, and Halo: New Blood by Matt Forbeck. De Bello Gallico by Julius Caesar was a pretty damn good read too.
Casshern Sins is so underrated. Show is fantastic. Suits (American TV) is also pretty underrated. Such a good show.
The Last Remnant is pretty underrated. It's one of the few JRPGs I can enjoy, very good game. Custom Robo (GC) is one people don't seem to mention much either. Don't take it personally babe, it just ain't your story is a fantastic VN that's completely free and yet no one talks about it. The writing was fantastic. People pls. Halo 3: ODST seems to be disliked by a lot of people. It's my favorite Halo. Megaman X: Command Mission is also imo the best Megaman game ever.
Little Busters! It's the only good thing Jun Maeda has ever written, and it always remains interesting and heart-wrenching.
EDIT: No one really seems to discuss songs like "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" by Ice Cube or "Cinderella Man" by Eminem while discussing rap. That needs to be fixed.
Also The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is a masterpiece that no one but me reads D:
> What manga app? How would you rate it compared to the more known apps?
MangaZone Hm I think it's one of the better one out there, it has all the series since it takes the chapters from multiple manga sites. Only problem is on certain manhwa the resolution is really bad. You can make an account or connect it to social media and it'll keep track of your favorites and reading history. Also downloads.
B/W was pretty good, i never actually completed the story in the game so this let me know what was up. B2/W2 is where it's at right now but it's getting regular updates I think. The reading quality of the chapters are good now.
I prefer This one as it's interface is a lot simpler
Sometime between 5 hours, 12 minutes and 6 hours, 12 minutes. I don't know the exact time; it depends on when Codefreak8 returns home, and how fast we get the stream set up. Use this handy countdown that /u/RubertJenkis set up to keep track.
I got Evolution from the random link, which isn't too bad. Could do something like the MC from Re:Monster.
If I had to choose a superpower, it'd probably be Time Manipulation. Unfortunately, that'd be too much power to have, since I'm not sure I value time enough to use it properly.
A more appropriate power would probably be immortality. Something vampire-like (frozen age, regeneration).
A totally inappropriate power would be a physical enhancement type of power. It's not like I'm unfit, but I don't care much for building muscle.
I completely forgot about that ED. It actually is pretty good.
I still prefer the ED for Mother's Rosario (the last arc in SAO 2). This is the best link I could find, no subs unfortunately.
And on the question suggestion, sure.
>a popular variant adds the letter Q for those who identify as queer or are questioning their sexual identity as LGBTQ, recorded since 1996.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT
As for the +, I'm not sure where I saw it, but it was either at the news or a local Gay Pride event. There seem to be search results for it, but my memory is unreliable so it's possible I made it up. "Queer" I think has been embraced by Gay people in recent years.
I'm currently playing Ys VI. I also am playing Baldur's Gate altho i've taken a break from it. As always I also play LoL and HotS. Every now and then I touch on Crusader Kings 2 and Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires. I play a lot of stuff really (I may or may not spend way too much time on games)
I really need to get to playing both Tales of Graces and Tales of Xillia as well. From Visual Novels the latest one that I downloaded was Comyu but that's on hold at the moment. I'm kinda going all out since come next school year and I'll most likely be pretty busy with studying.
Once my summer holiday kicks in amongst other stuff I plan to play through Witcher : Enhanced Edition and Ys: Oath in Felghana on nightmare ^^wishmeluck ^^^^GodKnowsImGoingToNeedIt
Conclusion is that I play way too much stuff and don't spend enough time on doing what would be the logical thing to do long term.
> Make my own Linux operating system
~~cough cough it's called a distro~~
why don't you just install Arch?
it gives you enough freedom on your system and honestly maintaining your own distro yourself would require too much time and with so many distros around there's not much space for innovation.
Just woke up. So, we're doing this now? At least mine had proven that others know she's best girl. And at least she has some backstory, unlike Ms. creepy smile over there.
VBA-M has more customization and in general it runs better. It has a lot more graphics options as well so you can get it to look as best as possible.
Also, I prefer SNES9x to both BSNES and ZSNES.
Yes, please keep me updated!
I'm currently working on mine over on FF.net and Archive of Our Own if you're interested!
Thank you for your advice! Even though I've made all kinds of small things before (lots of different RNG gambling games and 2-D shooters), I do realize that while I'm good at coding, I'm not a wizard, and I might be thinking a little big for now.
And honestly, when I thought of an RPG, I was actually thinking of something along the lines of Undertale by Toby "Radiation" Fox. If you've read the multimedia webcomic Homestuck you may already be familiar with some of his work. It's a demo that everyone here should really play, it's incredible how they managed to convey so much character, creativity, and all around uniqueness in not that much time.
Welp, I signed up and made a list here.
I got as far as year 2000, so I'll have to finish updating it in the morning. I feel like there's still some missing, I might have to check everything over once I'm done.
Busuu aside, I put close to two hours into configuring my streaming setup. I set up my new microphone, and that was easy. Except, because it's on the desk along with my laptop, anytime I tried typing, there would be an ear-shattering vibration. Okay. So I hooked up my old mechanical keyboard, and that solved that. Except mechanical keyboards are loud, so if I don't want to stream typing ASMR, I had to get rid of that. So I spent the longest time playing with the noise suppressor until finally finding a good range for it. Except I have a very quiet voice, so the noise suppression would cut out most of my talking. So I continued playing with the suppressor until I got a good compromise between the two. And then, just before I gave myself a pat on the back, I recorded myself one last time and realized that the audio on the microphone kind of sucked. I decided to lean in way closer to it and the audio became crystal clear. That's it! All problems are solved! All I have to do is strain my already injured back to get close enough to the microphone. That's...going to be something. I might have to invest in an arm. For now, I'm satisfied that I managed to work through all of that.
Today, I just got done playing around with video editing software. Along with being famous on Twitch, I'm also going to top the charts on YouTube, so I needed some sort of software for it, and my friend introduced me to Kdenlive. It was more than a little intimidating when I opened it up, but within half an hour, I'd figured out everything I wanted it for. I'll take it.

Well sign up here and then install steam on your computer. There are some free games already and there are sales all of the time. I got Skyrim GOTY for 5 bucks lol.
You're actually the only one spelling it right. I just fucked up 3 years ago lol
Hey, I'm posting at 5 AM my time. There's gotta be some overlap there.
But yeah, I'm definitely making good use of Forest tonight. Er, you know, in a minute. After this post.
Oh man, uh... one that looked... cool? Just a sec
Okay,RG #07 Gundam MK II Titans is what it says on the box! And it looks really neat and that's all I know about it! I'm not familiar with Gundam but I got a little one like 9 years ago that I really liked building, so when I was at Otakon the other weekend I decided to indulge in another, nicer one! Spent like 20 minutes at the Gundam table picking something that looked cool, and I'm definitely satisfied with it. So far I have built: leg bones.
It was good and bad.
Good: I worked and made money! My mom and dad also came to see the evening screening of The Man Who Knew Infinity. I got to see my girlfriend as well! I also got to eat pizza and watch fireworks.
Bad: my girlfriend broke up with me. She didn't want to, but she just wanted to be friends. I was alright with it. She actually cried and I felt bad and I hadn't even said anything. But she is a little happier now. Although I'm a little unhappy but I'll get over it and move on. I always do somehow. I don't hold any ill will towards her though, so she is better than the rest of my exes.
Good: got some coupons to find some new Manga and Light Novels and maybe get some P4 glasses.
It was one of the guys at the shop's last day today. I've known him since my dad managed a different bike shop in town (Since I was about 6 or so). My dad is definitely going to miss him. Heck, we all miss him. But we all wished him the best on his move down to DC.
Other than that, good day all around. Last night for The Man Who Knew Infinity, and it's really packed, which makes me happy.
Dad & I actually got to work a half hour early! We are usually there fifteen minutes late, but NOT TODAY!! It was a slow day though.
I screened The Man Who Knew Infinity, a movie about mathematics. I really liked it, partially biased because I'm studying mathematics, but even without that, it was a very well done movie.
Now I'm watching cooking appreciation shows on PBS with my sleepy parents.
Work was very slow, but not slow enough to close up early. At the end of the day, we sold off two fat bikes, so that was unexpected and awesome.
Screened The Man Who Knew Infinity, and its still as good a second time. I wound up playing more Story of Seasons during it. I'm excited to head home though, as my Arbitrary day gift is waiting for me at home!!
Work was still a bit slow, but bringing the dog to the shop helped.
Still screening The Man Who Knew Infinity. Packed night again, so that's good. After that, I'm gonna go home and play some Hyrule Warriors with dad.
I enjoy writing fantasy (if FH is any indication) and realistic fiction with a tinge of tragedy.
One of the best things I've read is Made to Stick by Chip and Dan Heath. Great book on how to make what you say or write much more memorable. I also enjoyed A Separate Peace by John Knowles and I, Robot by Isaac Asimov.
Breloom.
IDK, probabee Honeybees? There are differences, you know...
http://www.amazon.com/Bee-Movie-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000TGDHUU
^ Will LP that at some point.
Well, I remember there was a book I read when I was younger called The Supernaturalists, by Eoin Colfer, and it was one of my favorites. May not have aged well though.
Recently, I really liked the Martian, and also this interesting book I found called The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker. It's a mix of a dystopian setting and a coming-of-age story, set on Earth as its rotation suddenly starts to come to a stop.
Quick, I found one here!
Depends on where you are and how paranoid you are. Super Famicom comes with an AC adapter made for 100-110V, which is the standard in Japan. In the US, the standard is 120V, so it's only a bit higher. They probably made it to tolerate some variance, so you might be ok, but the very paranoid should look into a Step Down converter (I use this one because I'm paranoid).
If you're in Europe, however, you'll definitely need one as the standard there is 240V I believe. Alternatively, if you have an AC adapter for a SNES or your region, you can probably use that and get away with it because the output is the same for all of them I think (mine says Output of 10V and 850mA) and the plug is probably the same.
Guess what. I can buy pure royal jelly online. 2 whole pounds of it.
This is the one I used in Japan
http://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/information-for-travellers/
^I found this resource, should be helpful, I had both converter and adapter when I went.
We can't send you a .gba that contains copyrighted material, it's illegal. It's very easy to use this app and patch your own ROMs.
