http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/blackhawks-brian-mcfarlane/1004105847?ean=9780773732520 I have this book and it's pretty great. It shows how terrible Norris and Bill Wirtz were, and how much of an impact Rocky had on the club. Rocky Wirtz should really get more love on this sub IMO
To be honest, because you live in the Chicago market, every solution is going to be considered "pirating" in one form or fashion, since there is no legal way to get around blackout restrictions (other than paying for TV of course).
Now that hockey streams is dead, these are your only real options:
/r/NHLStreams will always have a good number of free streaming options to choose from on each game day. However, they are usually SD flash streams. It's not very common to find free HD streams on there that aren't super laggy. But hey, it's free, so we cant complain too much I guess.
Last season, I found to have the greatest likelihood of having free non-laggy HD streams. IDK how long they'll be around though, sites like that tend to get shut down pretty fast by the NHL.
Other than that, I think your only option is to sign up for (should be about $180/year) and port it through a VPN to get around the blackout restrictions. Private Internet Access, and only costs $35/year. This is the best option if you have the money, and the technological ability to set up a VPN.
Edit: from reading some of the other comments, I realized that I had forgotten about /r/NHL_Games. I haven't used the VLC method since the 2014 season, so I don't know much about how it has changed/improved since then. But that is apparently another option worth looking into. Assuming it's reliable now (it wasn't so reliable back in 2014), it's probably your best bet for free content.
!!! FULL GAME DOWNLOAD !!!
I saved it from an rtmp feed on one of the streams last night and uploaded it for a friend who wasn't able to watch it. Thought I'd share here in case anyone else missed it too. Download - [MEGA]

that is the first episode of the 4 part series that showcased the Hawks and Caps - available if you have Amazon Prime. Not sure which episode that Clint's death happened on.
No joke, they are selling them on Groupon now. No idea on the fees, however. https://www.groupon.com/tpis/deals/c1104fd4-4ba8-4ac9-a25d-fd08f2b62f49/booking?option_id=18c46821-219a-4786-9f6d-ae89462537a1
Never heard of that one. I'll have to check it out. I just don't bother with DNS spoofers anymore since im out of market now anyway. I do have NordVPN and Phantompeer VPN and supposedly nord has a DNS spoofer but haven't looked much into it.

Cancel that shit, fam.
E: pirate that shit until the NHL realizes that blackouts are fucking ridiculous and they lose enough money to end them. Why would you pay for a service that doesn't let you watch your home team?
My roommates and I went in on gamecenter two seasons ago. We couldn't watch dick without a paid VPN (Private Internet Access) and a whole lot of fuckery. Even then, streams lagged and were over two minutes behind live broadcasts. Fuck that. Waste of money. Get your shit together, NHL.
Heyyy don't forget you have an android phone, get the goal horn app and attach it to your speakers however you like. Shake it or tap the button for the goal horn. Long hold the buttons down to stop the sound.
FYI, 'uBlock Origin' is a separate project from 'uBlock'

Are you in Chicagoland? If so, Playstation Vue looks to be an excellent option. For $45/mo you get Comcast Sportsnet, Comcast Sportsnet + and NBCSN (plus like 70 other channels).
No, it does not require a Playstation to watch. It has apps on Amazon Fire (TV or the stick), Roku (my personal favorite), Chromecast and mobile devices. It is the real deal when it comes to cutting the chord.
If you don't want to pay, other comments in here can point your way to some helpful subreddits.
Amazon US doesn't have it. But if you really want it.....https://www.amazon.co.jp/Chicago-BlackhawksリーボックFlex-Flat-Hat-S-M-レトロスポーツ/dp/B00462V1SI
Here's the US link with more info on it https://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Blackhawks-Reebok-Flex-Flat/dp/B00462V1SI
You can easily use a VPN or browser extension to re-route your internet through another location, bypassing the blackout restriction.
Have been watching Hawks/Cubs in Chicago using and NHL Gamecenter for the past year flawlessly using Private Internet Access ($40 a year), but I know there are free Chrome/Firefox extensions that will do the same
/r/cordcutters FAQ has lots more info on the subject
Gamecenter and then subscribe to Unblock-Us at . They reroute your IP address so that you can watch any game without dealing with being in the blackout zone. I've used them for two seasons with absolutely NO issues. Only $5 a month.
Kinda pricey for what it is, but I got one of the goal light buzzers as a gift and it's a lot of fun to have on the wall during games.
WGN Radio app, or the NBC Chicago app. Free radio stream or free video stream. You choose.
The first hit was for AndroIRC which was updated last month. Looks like HoloIRC hasn't been worked on since last August. Updates aren't always the best indicator of an app's quality, but definitely something to consider.
Besides, I'm not sure how good IRC on a phone will be. It might be way too busy.
Living in Kentucky there was no chance I was gonna get my hands on merch but I got some Stanley Cup Champions glasses!!
Ive been @ $290 a month for Comcast forever(cable, phone, and internet). Havent made an outbound call via landline in 4 years. Unfortunately i don't have any other option for an ISP. I actually just called yesterday and I'm going to go with Xfinity Gig speed internet @$100 per month and Slings Blue and Orange package @$25 per month. NBC RSNs are included. An extra $5 per month for cloud/dvr service and I'm set for $130. Ill have Bears, Hawks, the rest of this Cubs season and I'm set. Need to get the 600 streaming services my wife is subscribed to under control and I might actually finish 2019 in the black... maybe even green.
ExpressVPN just got bought by Kape Technologies, which has a pretty shady track record:
I cancelled and switched to a different VPN services after I found all that out this week.
From the picture it looks like this one (which is fake)

Vs this one (which is a licensed replica)

Would love to see a photo of the front
Never used yonder tbh. I just knew it as an option. I used Unblock-us for 5 almost 6 years and never had any issues. Good to know though for others looking into options. I would just suggest looking into VPNs. I have PhantomPeer and NordVPN. Not sure if the sale is still going but I just picked up Nord for $100 for 3 years
Do yourself a favor and get either a free VPN or even better, a paid one. That's the only way I can watch most of the Hawks games on gamecenter live. The paid one I use is called ExpressVPN. It's great and it was about $8 for a year. There are a ton of free ones though. Just Google them.
Thats really easy to get around. I use a service called TunnelBear that reroutes my IP to Europe so I can watch every nationally televised game and post season. Chrome even has extensions that can do this now.
this is a nice thing to have laying around the house https://www.amazon.com/Things-Blackhawks-Should-Before-Things-Fans/dp/1629372455
Hello /r/hawks
I'm back again to share an item that one of you mentioned buying before even when it wasn't on sale... a clear puck filled with ice shavings from the 2015 cup.
The puck goes on lightning deal at 7pm central and ends at 11pm central. it's $50 before deal, probably like $30-40 when it goes on sale.
edit: deal price is $42 which is a slight disappointing... but i guess maybe that's like getting one beer free at a game??
Here's a direct link to make your life easier (but if you do click through the other sub, i'll love you forever!): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZQ41PPE
And as always, i hope this is welcome here, but if not please downvote or remove.
You can get it here expensive as fuck
