I found a program called Multiple Monitors by Actual Tools, which does a million things that I don't want or need. But it does allow you to pick a portion of a screen and mirror it in a window, which lets me blow up my minimap and put it on my second monitor.
I don't know if I like it, but maybe someone else will, or will find it much more useful for a different game. At a minimum it makes for a good "watch your fucking minimap" joke, right?
The program isn't free, but it has a 30 day free trial. If anyone knows of any good alternatives, please post them.
That would be awesome! I've never heard of a tool/program that will replicate part of one monitor onto a second monitor.
Edit: Found a tool called "UltraMon" which will do it very neatly, but costs $40. I played with the free trial and it looks great!
Edit 2: This tool called "Actual Multiple Monitors" looks like it will do it for $25, but I couldn't get the trial to work on this machine. i will try it at home later though.
There are applications out there that let you mirror part of a window to a separate window on your second monitor. This would most definitely fill this role for you, but does require a third party program.
I use a program called Actual Multiple Monitors. It is not free, but it's really cheap and it does an awesome job. You can create any configuration you want.
Game is supposed to lock your windows cursor but for some reasons it fails to do so, if you had 1 monitor you would have no issues since mouse got nowhere to go, BUT if you're running multi-monitor setup you're fucked because mouse will got outside of main display and minimize game if you click on different display.
No real solution besides using some tools or placing your displays like that
List of tools:
Aquasnap seemed really nice when I tried it, especially the magnetic resizing, but so far I've settled on Actual Multiple Monitors. It has a desktop divider feature similar to Maxto's if you like that implementation, but I mostly use it because I have a smaller screen I use in addition to the ultrawide, and its other multiple-monitor-oriented features are really nice.
Mosaico's drag'n'drop implementation was ideal for me and I would still be using it....except I couldn't find a way to customize the snap presets. Some of the snaps were thirds which works well in ultrawide, but the inflexibility kept it from doing what I needed. If they ever open up its flexibility I would probably go back to it.
If only I could figure out a way to combine all three programs.....
I found a program, I don't remember what it's called, but it allows you to play csgo in normal full screen mode, but lock the window so it doesn't alt tab when you click a second monitor.
You have to buy it for 20$ though, but there is a 30 day free trial.

The program is sort of complicated to use, but if I find the name I will let you know.
Assuming you're in the windows world, I've used Actual Multiple Monitors for a number of years, both on single and multiple monitor systems, to use a bunch of different features. Their "Desktop Divider" functionality is probably pretty close to what you're looking for, but jringstad is right, that you're really looking for a real tiling window manager, like you can easily find in linux. For example, i3, awesome, ratpoison, dwm, or xmonad to name a few.
I use actual multiple monitors. I bind the ignore fullscreen command to ctrl+alt+i. After you input the command, you'll be able to mouse over to the next screen without minimizing the fullscreen program.
I use Actual Multiple Monitors. http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
It has some other handy features as well like opening an application on the monitor that your mouse pointer is on. It also puts little arrows next to the minimize button to let you send windows screen to screen easily.
You can use Actual Multiple Monitors to also play games in fullscreen on one monitor and leave them open without being minimized when on clicking on your second monitor. There is a hotkey called "Ignore deactivation" (or something like that, just look through the hotkeys) that you can toggle when your game window is focused to always leave it open regardless of what you do on your second monitor. This works for most, if not all games, which is handy when playing a game that doesn't have the "windowed fullscreen" option. The program only has a 30 day test period after that you have to buy it ($25 single payment) but I guess you can ^get ^it ^via ^other ^means .
Okay, here's the program I found that works perfectly for what I want. http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
I can add a toolbar to the secondary monitor and it stays there when I turn the rift of and back on again
Thanks for the reply. Ended up finding some software that does the same job with a few tweaks for Windows 7.
Actual Multiple Monitors http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
for those interested. :)
Give Actual Multiple Monitors a shot. http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
There is a free 30 day trial of the full version you can activate after installing it. I have been hooked on it since dumping ultramon almost a year ago, but am not on one of my multi-monitor computers right now to confirm or deny that it can do what you want.
PS: They give a 30% discount if you own a license to ultramon. You gotta send them a screenshot, instructions are on the page i linked.
You have to set up your middle monitor to be the main display (drag the screens until 1 is in the middle).
Beyond that, Actual Multiple Monitors will put a start menu on each display.
if you want free use zbar. If you want to pay for more features use actual multiple monitors.
Actual Multiple Monitors is (I believe) only for Windows 7. Zbar should work for XP/Vista/7 (maybe even earlier but I haven't tried it)
"Actual Multiple Monitors" does this and a whole lot more with tons of configuration options, but it costs $25. Edit: When I went to uninstall they offered to e-mail me a special reduced price, so that may be worth trying.
Here's a picture of it on my monitors. I couldn't get used to the large minimap, and I really need the second monitor for other stuff ("not porn").
If you want to be able to use your second monitor while playing, this works great. You can use your other monitor just as normal and CS wont minimize. Works with any other game as well for that matter.
You can try using this program: http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/ Or, since you say it is "unhooking," you can try using a program like RInput.exe (hooks into the Process, in this case BlackOps3.exe, and has the game utilize Raw Input, instead of Win32). Found some other stuff: http://superuser.com/a/436076
Yup! There's a 30 day free trial thing here if you want to give it a shot and see what it may do differently... Just note that it is cheaper on Steam than to buy it through the program itself.
Mate, why are we comparing PS2 to other games regardless? Comparing different engines is just stupid and further shows the lack of understanding. I'm talking about detection methods, not a live person monitoring things. Huge difference. I'll be streaming Battlefront in a few minutes to show off something I'll be selling memberships for as well. Can't wait to battle FF again! :)
Oh and in regards to "projecting", aside from posting sigs they scan for and whitelist, what more could I do? They did whitelist http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/ because of that random streamer ban the other night. ;)
edit: I swear all those fairfight bans aren't me guys stop pming me. :x
You can only acheive this with 3rd party software or a cable splitter.
A quick Google brings up these software options:
http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/ http://www.displaylink.com/support/tools.php
You'd be looking to use the "mirror" option.
Also, if you have a dual monitor setup without actual multiple monitors is like driving a car with square wheels. Greatest PC program I've ever downloaded.
It's free trial for 30 days but you can get cracked one. If you can't find it on your own send me a pm. http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/download/
I use this: http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
There are other apps too like Displayfusion (you can get it off of steam). http://www.displayfusion.com/
I like actual tools better because it works with a taskbar plugin I use (true launch bar) displayfusion has issues with it.
I haven't played around with it too much, but you can probably do it with Actual Multiple Monitors. You have to pay for it, but there are...other ways to get it.
For games that don't have fullscreen windowed options, I use Actual Multiple Monitors. You can bind a key to go over to your other monitor without minimizing the fulscreen application.
It has a ton of other options for multiple monitor setups, too.
I've used Actual Multiple Monitors.
Works fairly well, I was dabbling with something else a while ago before I stopped using my 2nd monitor, the name escapes me though. I'll post back if I remember.
It sounds like you are using windows when you say "extend mode". What you need is multiple monitors software. I use software called Actual Multiple Monitors but if you have a search around there are probably heaps of useful free options out there.
Within your multi-monitor program you can then set a single image to be a wallpaper over multiple screens.
I use Actual Multiple Monitors (http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/). No, it's not free but there is a trial, and it does a lot more (monitor dividers, etc). You can do different slide shows on each monitor instead of just static images.
For a moment I though why you dont just look at the clock on taskbar, but then remembered that Im using actual multiple monitors. Already so used to this program that I think its integrated in Windows :p
--See below---
No way that I know of. My computer setup is similar - I mostly use my computer with the 42" plasma i have at the end of my bed, but when i want to do some of my office work, I have a 32" LCD on my desk over the other side of the bedroom. An HDMI cable runs from the desk to the plasma.
The screens are set to mirror rather than extend, and because they are both samsungs, i just use the remote to point at the screen i want to switch off/on.
Edit: Oh there are programs you can get that allow you to quickly swap between display "profiles". You could right click on the desktop or use the task tray and change profile with a couple of clicks.
Set profile1: Desktop screen is primary, do not extend to TV/secondary monitor
Set profile2: TV is primary, do not extend to desktop/secondary monitor
The effect of profile 2 would be that the desktop screen would not be receiving a signal and therefore would switch itself off (blank)
The program I used was http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
After searching for a couple days, I found the best solution for the time being. It involves a AutoHotKey script found here and any multi-monitor software (I'm using Actual Multiple Monitors.
What I did is set up custom Display Profiles under Actual Monitor Monitors. For my "Main" Profile, I have displays 1&2 active (my monitors) and my TV inactive. Then I created a "Steam Big Picture" profile that inactivates my monitors and activates my TV as my only and primary display. You can then assign hotkeys for easily switching between display profiles.
Lately, I used the Autohotkey script to switch audio output from my soundcard to HDMI. I added my AMM display profile hotkeys to the script, so it would switch displays then toggle audio...All with the touch of a button.
It might not be pretty, but it works!
Alternatively, if you are on Win7, try Actual Multiple Monitors. Multimon taskbar for free and its just as good as on Win8. If you pay and upgrade to Pro, it's even better than Win8. http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
He's probably using Eyefinity which turns the 3 screens into 1 massive virtual screen. Actual Multiple Monitors will give you different taskbars for each monitor. It's what I'm using now and it seems pretty good.
I'd like to suggest that you use this: http://www.actualtools.com/multiplemonitors/
It adds another toolbar to the second screen; it has a pro version but the free version still has great features; payed just has a few extra things.
its actual multiple monitors though that software shown is as old as the screenshot. the new one is a bit better.. its best because it extends the taskbar across both monitors .. without getting that shitty win2000 style taskbar on the other side. i'm using it and its probably the best in my opinion.
1) Windows can already do that; Super+Shift+Arrows
2) Display Fusion is good, and I used it for a while, but I strongly recommend Actual Multiple Monitors. Multiple taskbars with customizable components, among other things.

actually if he doesn't want to pay ZBar is a pretty sweet alternative. If you don't mind paying, my personal favorite is Actual Multiple Monitors. I think that one is Windows 7 only though.
