Shadow of Mordor is such a good game. I 100% that game even if I barely complete most games. Really good gameplay. Fallout 3 is really good, but it has aged somewhat poorly. Still a good one, but temper your expectations accordingly. It crashes quite a bit in modern PCs last I checked unless you patch it up real good. Make sure you check out the modding community's patches before you sit down and quit playing it in frustration.
Finally, you may want to check Backloggery Great site to track your backlog and the games you're currently focused in.
Started a handful of games this week just so they weren't sitting there unplayed.
Batman: Arkham Origins Quite the step down from Asylum and City, still a decent game but it just doesn't compare to Rocksteadys games AT ALL. Really hope Rocksteady are working on something.
Rayman Legends Masterpiece of a platformer.
Sleeping Dogs Only played like 30 minutes so far, but it seems promising.
Darksiders Not the game I was expecting when I loaded it up but not a bad game either.
Dragon Age: Origins Seems like an interesting premise, the combat is almost unberable so far though.
Grand Theft Auto V My first play session of this I was utterly astounded, but as I got used to the graphics, the gameplay and all the new stuff it kinda wore off and became just another GTA. Still a fucking masterpiece though.
Also if anyone wants to add me to your backloggery feel free to - link
Might not resolve your issue but for myself, once I started accumulating 3ds games and had the same concerns, I opened an account on http://www.backloggery.com/ That way I was able to track progress and see how many games im playing at once. Helped me narrow it down to usually playing 1-2 story oriented games at a time + Animal crossing or supersmash to relax in between
There are websites like http://www.backloggery.com/ and tools like http://raptr.com/ for that. But overall I found them pretty useless myself as they either require that you enter everything manually or they only keep track of games that are on one of the big services. Raptr simply didn't allow manually adding games last time I checked, which would cut out a large chunk of the games I actually play. I am however mostly looking for tracking time played (Wii does that wonderfully), not progress, so maybe you have more luck with them.
The ones I know of are The Backloggery and Darkadia.
IMO, The Backloggery is better for tracking progress, but it doesn't have a database it pulls the games' information from (you have to enter everything manually). Darkadia works more like Shelfari for videogames, and pulls information from the Giant Bomb database, but it's interface is a little too ritzy (no lists, just shelves).
If you want a random Steam game from your library: here
If you want to randomize various platforms you could go to backloggery, add your games and then hit the fortune cookie, but if you are only after a randomizer it would be easier done via excel itself.
I do all of this through Steam. You right click on a game, click "Set Categories", and it allows you to type in a custom category name.
I'm not too sure how to do this on other systems or on consoles. Perhaps something like www.howlongtobeat.com ?
edit: Someone above me recommended http://www.backloggery.com/
I have a really massive backlog (we're talking like 600 games), because sales are good and my impulse control is weak. Also I really love RPGs and open worlds and sandboxes, so unplayed games tend to pile up while I'm just sitting here playing Skyrim or Binding of Isaac or whatever.
So starting last October, I set up a system. First off, I can still play stuff like Skyrim, but I also have to make sure to make time for other games out of my backlog. Games I can actually call "finished" at some point.
I use Backloggery, which has a Steam Roulette-style feature called the Fortune Cookie. I use that to draw a random game out of my non-Steam backlog (GOG, physical disks, etc.)--whatever it chooses, I play. The only exception is if it pulls out, say, Thief 2 when I hadn't played the first one; then I get a free redraw.
For my Steam backlog I make use of the actual Steam Roulette; same rules apply. I pick one Fortune Cookie title, one Roulette, and play them until they're done.
I'm really liking that system so far. It's broken me out of my usual routine of RPGs/sandboxes a bit, which is good, and pulled out some titles I basically forgot I owned. Like the Thief series (I've played 1 and 2 so far)...I've discovered that I'm terrible at stealth games, but I also really, really love those games for the challenge and the lore and the freedom you have in gameplay.
It's gotten me to tone down on the buying and focus on playing the games I actually own, too. My wallet appreciates that bonus.
I was lucky that I started a spreadsheet of my games while my digital collection was relatively small. It has saved me many times from buying games that I already owned! I also track which games I have played and which I plan to play in the near future.
There are also sites like The Backloggery and HowLongToBeat that can provide this functionality. I haven't tried them because I like the extensibility and control of my solution, so I can decide to start tracking trading cards, what I have to give away, and calculate any stats that spring to mind without having to wait for the feature to be added by a website.
Want to both gift and receive, and I'll be a back-up gifter

I have read and agree to the rules
I had this problem, especially considering I used to let MMOs eat up most of my play time. I got frustrated and started focusing on beating games instead of just playing them. I track them with a spreadsheet and http://www.backloggery.com. Also I just "beat" them and realize that trying to platinum games is excessive and unrealistic given my buying habits.
I still buy more than I play, but I complete a lot of them now. 80 last year, 26 so far this year.
Guys, I have problems.
"Bought" CoD: AW last week. Beat it in two days. Luckily, I got it for free due to a billing problem. So that's going back to Gamestop. To anyone remotely interested: Rent it. The campaign was pretty good but the multiplayer is the most laggy, broken PoS I've played.
Now I'm getting the strong urge to buy The Master Chief Collection for some Halo 2 multiplayer action. The problem is that I don't have an Xbone, I have a PS4. So I'm very strongly wanting to throw $400 at that problem.
Other than that, I have a horrific backlog and I don't have a clue what to play. I picked up and played a little bit of Catherine last week and liked it, but I didn't get too far. Also, I haven't finished Infamous 2.
Here's my backlog. Can someone suggest a game? Thanks!
It's been a long time since I used it, so I might not be remembering correctly, but I believe http://www.backloggery.com/ does what you're looking for.
Edit: I'm attempting to retrieve my account so I can confirm for you.
Edit 2: Yeah, looks like you can make a list of what you own, what you want to own/play, and what you've either beaten or completed (i.e. 100% completion.)
Looks pretty cool, I like how it has the actual games built in and not just randomly typing, but unless I get really bored I'm not sure I want to take the time to copy over http://www.backloggery.com/main.php?user=moatman into another system, wtb import...which I know isn't gonna happen, just lazy:(
I use a combination of IsThereAnyDeal and Backloggery. ITAD is mostly for my PC games collection to get those sweet sweet deals. Backloggery is for everything else, such as my entire game library including console and handhelds, keeping track of what I'm playing and where I am in those games, and what games I've already beaten.
I tried Grouvee at one point which ended up being pretty nice, but I found Backloggery to be more flexible for what I wanted to do with my collection. One thing I do miss are the shelves, though. Those were neato.
Other comment described it well, just wanted to add that it is a term used in more than just gunpla.
> back·log > > ˈbakˌlôɡ,ˈbakˌläɡ/ > > noun > > an accumulation of something, especially uncompleted work or matters that need to be dealt with. > > "the company took on extra staff to clear the backlog of work" > > synonyms: accumulation, logjam, pileup, pile, mountain; informal: buttload > > "Stella's been gone for one day and there's already a backlog of messages"
It's also commonly used by PC gamers - http://www.backloggery.com/
Various sites follow the model described, particularly Backloggery
There are other backlog management websites (a couple of them auto-fill details about pretty many any game) but the Backloggery is the most robust in terms of categorising, I have found.
Preaching to the choir. My list is probably twice as big with just as many great titles.....but worse I have started almost all of mine and not finished em....there is a website. http://www.backloggery.com/ it helps you keep track of your backlog and which games to play in what order.
Hello dat me. I have ~20 unfinished/unplayed games in my library since two fucking years now and the backlog only grows. I used to be a "only one game at a time" gamer, but getting a job and having the money to buy all the games wasn't as good as it sounded at first lol. After I registered at The Backloggery upon the recommandation of a fellow redditor, I noticed that my backlog started to grow after I dedicated most of my time to two multiplayer games. I still bought games because I was interested in them, but in the end I kept playing the same multiplayer games over and over again.
Fast forward to now and I finally got tired of most of the multiplayer games that kept me busy the last two years. I'm sick of my backlog too, so I prohibited myself from buying new games until I significantly decrease it. So far I've beaten 6 games (three of them were shorter indie games but oh well) and I plan to tackle the 7th game this week.
Once you kicked your own ass and start to dedicate your time in a clever way, it's pretty easy. And it feels so damn good.
That's true, I usually get all achievements for fun/when the game doesn't have things to "complete" but this is different somehow.. mostly because of the gap between the trophies to be honest lol. I mean, it's something I COULD do after a few days but it would probably be the most time-wasting thing I've done to complete a game, and I've done a lot of similar stuff.
Ah well, I'll just try and forget about it, I think what I've done is enough to complete this game, kinda sorta. Thanks yo!
The Backloggery
It's very feature-rich, a lot of different tags you can apply to games. What I like about it is that it isn't tied to a big connected social network or database - you can use it however you want, you can essentially use it's tagging schema any way you wish to help keep track.
It would be very useful, especially with all the unredeemed keys in it! I am thinking of reimplementing the spreadsheet and cleaning up the data as it has all been built up over time and is a bit inconsistent because of it. I hope to do this after Xmas, so I could post a link then. I'll save your user name and let you know.
You could also look at The Backloggery for a web system to track your games.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Finishing up the story, grinding out missions from Ray, Gerald, and Francis mainly. Really love this game man. I feel like the last act is definitely where the game shines. The missions are never boring since there is ALWAYS a different objective. I really like the characters and the dialogue flows really will except for a few kinks.
Modern Warfare 2
Haven't made much progress since last week. This is kind of my secondary game ATM, so when I finish GTA I'll probably start another bigger game.
What should I play next?
Check out my backlog here and tell me what I should play next. I was thinking something with a relatively closed setting to rest from GTA like Bioshock or Half Life 2.
So I platinumed Final Fantasy XV the other week and since then haven't been able to get into anything else I've tried to play. I sat down with World of Final Fantasy up until Chapter 4, Root Letter until Chapter 3, Fist of the North Star until Level 5, Trails in the Sky until Chapter 2, and Adventure of Mana (which I enjoyed and beat).
So I'm not sure why can't get into much else right now, it isn't like FFXV was life changing but looking for another JRPG to dump my time into.
All my games are here, so I have a lot of options.
It's called I've had more money then time for quite awhile. I'm at home now so let me take a look at the exacts.
So on my backloggery I have 692 unfinished games, 571 beaten games, and 84 completed games. Now to acquire all those stats, I've been playing games since the mid-80's. My older systems have better completion then newer stuff.
Like original Nintendo I had 50 games and beat them all. PS4 I have 67 games and I've only finished 19 of them.
Spreadsheet, backloggery and a blog that wraps my backloggery.
BL: http://www.backloggery.com/merph518 BLBlog: http://merph.net/blog
The blog is kind of overkill, but I got sick of forgetting plot points in the games I play, so I keep a playlog now.
you can check out the following 'built for the purpose' websites as well..
Both are great, backloggery gives a more nostalgic , old school and close to heart feel. But Grouvee is more easy to add/update games and manage in general.
Edit: Apologies, i did not see that /u/code-sloth has actually linked to a thread with suggestions already there. redundant reply. My Bad.
Tools to assist in helping you pick what to play next out of your backlog of titles. They haven't upgraded their game metadata and search tools in forever.
There are now 3rd party tools to do it (ex, http://www.backloggery.com/) but this should really be built into the core system.
I've long been looking for better achievement tracking out of Steam- compare what they have with, for example, Kongregates system which allows you to do searches like "find me the most globally achieved achievement from my games that I don't already have". Or even that Steam doesn't yet have variant weighted achievements that the other game platforms have long had.
Hell the library view doesn't even have the ability to show what games have achievements or badges, the only review scores are from metacritic, there's no average playtime, average completion rate data, etc, etc.
Sorry, it's called The Backloggery...it's been awhile since I was there. Backloggery Also...you may find /r/gamecollecting is more trafficked. I use both subreddits, but that one seems a lot busier.
lol, I almost added that detail, but I don't have that game.
Do you mean my whole collection? I don't have an exact count, but here's my Backloggery if you're interested.
Incidentally, I have an album of my collection on the same Imgur account as this Amiibo album. It's about a year out of date, though.
I agree fully. I have a massive library as well. (My site is better!) and it is largely due to bundles and free promotions. I've spent ~$125 in Steam, ~$125 in Humble Bundles, and <$50 elsewhere. Yes, I have a larger library and spent much less. Many others even have me beat. Despite this, I have painstakingly entered every single game I own manually onto a website to keep track of which I've played, finished, or haven't touched. I even set a category in Steam for games I intend to finish soonish and have most installed so there's no wait before playing. I'm actively trying to play the games and trim down my list, but I know there are many games I will never play to completion. When I spend money on a bundle, I add all games regardless of what they are. I also grab every freebies from websites which give out thousands of free keys to a game. What if I'd want to play it some time?! Basically, know that the size of the library does not equate to how much money you have/spend on games.
That being said, I know many do not take this in regard, and honestly, there are probably people who deserve games more than myself. I'm just saying a large library shouldn't make someone ineligible for a gift.
This isn't even a fraction of the amount of games I have. Here is a not so updated list of the games I own. I haven't updated it since about November. I think I'm at about 815-850 games. Also the only reason the games are out of order was cause I grabbed them in random order out of where I had them stored so I could get the picture.
Or, a better solution is to use backloggery to keep track of all your games, it has a random draw function called "fortune cookie" and you have more control over what gets picked.
It's hard to manage so many games without a priority list and disciplining yourself.
About 5 years ago I created a backloggery account and usually play 1-3 games at a time. If I play more than that I start forgetting about some of the games or will always play the game I find my highest priority or most interested in constantly.
It did made me realize that I had too many games to finish in my lifetime or even my spare time and I simply stop playing games I don't find I'm particularly enjoying or have a medium-strong interest in.
I don't think it automatically imports anything (though it might do by now, I haven't used it in years) but Backloggery was always a handy way of keeping track of things.
Well, I have to work tomorrow, but if anyone wants to add me on PSN, my ID is x_citizen_zero_x. I have a PS3 and here's my games. I have ~~Thursday~~ Friday off, so I plan on enjoying some wine and playing some UFC and Assassin's Creed.
This looks really good and polished. It does suffer from the one massive downside like all of these sites and apps. The initial import looks to be fiddly. When I saw the app page mention howlongtobeat I was hopeful I could import my collection already from there but was sad to see I can't.
My collections are fairly massive.
http://www.howlongtobeat.com/user.php?n=Micrll&s=games&c=list_all
http://www.backloggery.com/Micrll
It looks like the easiest way is to copy / paste from those sites, clean up the list and then do a bulk import per platform (and link to Steam to get the latest list).
Couple Questions: 1. Does steam importing one-time or can it update periodically as collection grows there. 2. I see you have a list for exporting (yay!) but I also see you can enter a LOT of info (price, notes, lending info, tags etc) but none of this is exported. Any plans for that stuff to be exportable?
Suggestions / Notes: I never got the barcode import working.
I think you need a "budget edition" or greatest hits etc. for the 'edition' dialog box.
If you want to document your way through things, yeah. But I wouldn't expect more than a few viewers unless you're an amazing gamer or have funny/entertaining banter.
Also, check out http://www.backloggery.com
have you tried http://www.backloggery.com yet? it allows you to keep track of your backlog and actualy has a function that can pick out on of your unplayed games for you (called the fortune cookie), and lets you keep track of progress in case you want to switch the game you're playing. with 10 games it's easy to keep track. i sadly have over 250 games in my backlog not including steam (over 500 with steam) and it's a really convienient website!
I felt like this, but then I started using backloggery.com and focusing down games until I beat them. Been a slow process, but sure enough I've beaten some good games like Mass Effect and Batman Arkham Asylum. Now I just have to get through my 200+ games... (All 75% sales (nothing over $9.99 and most everything under $4.99 only) & Humble Bundle ($1.00 only) sales mind you.)
Woa I thought I had a huge backlog of games, but yours dwarfs mine... :-p
My profile: http://www.backloggery.com/floflo81
Note: I find your profile a bit hard on the eyes lol. But that's probably just me. ;-)
Steam totally neglects and fails to capitalize on the social networking aspect of Steam. Not only do they fail to integrate achievements well, think about all of the other sites that people use for networking around games. If they implemented the features of sites like http://www.howlongtobeat.com and http://www.backloggery.com/ (including the console portions of those sites) along with better achievement integration, they would make themselves an untouchable force in online gaming interaction.
I have experienced this recently as well. Before having no job meant relying on the wonderful internet to gift me games, entering compeitions and buying a game which was on super special only when I absolutely wanted to. Now with some income it just seems so easy to snag that $5 game there and get that one over there which was 50% or something. I am afraid it's a "first world problem" for me and poor impulse control. On the other hand I am games rich!
I have found this website that helps clear your backlog and I think it's pretty clever : http://www.backloggery.com/
Metal Gear Solid, Oddworld, Tony Hawk, Resident Evil, and Crash Bandicoot will always stand out as my favorites from my childhood. I must have played each game in every one of those series countless times.
I loved to constantly play the MediEvil 2 demo on the PS Underground disk, and I finally got that game just this week. Can't wait to see if it was as good as I remember the demo being.
Gamefaqs has a "my games" section where you can list what you've finished and rate them.
There's also The Backloggery which is a good place to record what you've completed for tracking purposes and gamerDNA which is good for recommendations based on what you've played.
Probably my .Hack collection on PS2 all mint with DVD's included. Or my sealed SMT: Nocturne...
Edit: I also have Fatal Frame II for both Xbox and PS2, I forgot about that.
I could be wrong go to http://www.backloggery.com/havoced for my full list.
it's an achievement tracking site as far as I can tell, so it's understandable, though it could still include every steam game for people to tick when they're done with them. but you can always keep a spreadsheet for games without achievements, or there are other places, like backloggery, since you started not long ago, it wouldn't be a huge pain to move to a different database, but of course it's up to you.
I use the Backloggery for everything. http://www.backloggery.com/
You can input every game you own, as well as select the region for it (which should be nice if you're in the UK). Mostly the site is geared towards keeping track of what games are beaten and unbeaten in your collection, but it functions as a perfectly good collection-tracker. I use it every day. :-)
My Backloggery says it all. I mostly collect for PS2 and Xbox/360. The games are cheap and its what I grew up with. I also heavily collect Pokemon core series games. Maybe I'll one day branch off to spin-off games such as Pinball, Trozei, Ranger etc. But for now I'm focusing on getting Pokemon Crystal, Red and Blue in English hopefully soon. I've already collected all Gen I and II games in Japanese. I'm also thinking of collecting bootlegs however I absolutely am not trying to pay anywhere near market value for a regular game. The only exception I'll have is Engrish Pokemon Green and Pokemon Diamond (bootleg). Anyways, my collection is ever-growing. I have a few things here and there from other consoles, but the numbers are there.
If you aren't familiar with it, you may want to check out Backloggery. The entire website is based around listing out your collection, completion status, etc. And now I feel weird because I effectively just advertised a website. Regardless, if you like seeing people's collections that is the place to go.
I left out my Steam and Origin libraries. Steam alone has over 400 games. As for physical copies, I'm running at 350 on the dot. I keep track on Backloggery!
edit: with the exception of some XboxGoD and Virtual Console games!!
It's not really mobile-friendly, but I've just been using backloggery to track my games. Before that, I used a spreadsheet. I'm REALLY tempted to download this app, but I don't want to have to enter everything into it, especially after I JUST put everything in backloggery about a month ago... :/
I like classic console gaming :) The Super NES is my favorite console of all time, and I love several games on other platforms like the NES and Colecovision as well. You can check out my collection on Backloggery if you're interested. There aren't pictures, but I've meticulously recorded practically every game I own there.
Heh. It's pretty huge, but I have a mental list of games I next want to play. I never play two genres back to back. Right now I'm playing Persona 4. Next will probably be Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
Tons. My unplayed collection: http://www.backloggery.com/games.php?user=merph518&search=&console=&status=&unplayed=1&rating=&region=&own=
More money than time. Also, I'm a sucker for a good deal... so I'll often buy a game on sale in anticipation of playing it... sometime.
It's not a terrible problem to have.
This (http://www.backloggery.com/jnmaniac) is why I don't buy games unless the price is a steal. I have so many games I need to finish before I get a new game at full price. The most I have ever spent on a single game is $35 on Kid Icarus: Uprising, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and Star Fox 64 3D right after they came out, and now they're worth significantly more than that, so I am happy with my purchase.
Wellwellwell. Where to even start. Finished The Walking Dead Season 1+400 Days, gonna finish up Season 2 tonight. Bought Grow Home during the sale and finished it pretty quickly - it was a fantastic, albeit short, platforming game. Also picked up Fighting Fantasy: The Forest of Doom and it was everything I wanted from a CYOA book and more. Loved it to bits and going to get more of his stuff. Also picked up From Dust FINALLY after the sale for the cheapest price it's ever been and I'm liking it well enough so far. Definitely gonna have to play some more of it. Also snagged Shelter 2 recently and think it's great, but maybe a little slow. Then again, I have the feeling it's supposed to be as of right now, haven't gotten particularly far.
Aside from those things, I got a few things from my secret Santa. Grav was great and I quickly sank 6+ hours into and then got a little winded. Gonna take a break, hopefully find some people who have the game and play on the same server. Hoping they make resource gathering a little faster. Played a little bit of Tabletop Simulator and it's great, I'm just usually too busy playing something else to play online games with people. Sacrifrice seems like great fun and is next on my backlog, right after I power through To The Moon which my brother has been pestering me to finish for probably a year now. Gonna really play Besiege... sometime... I have too many games.
Still only beaten 1/4 games I was gifted. Pikmin 2 was great, REmake is really hard and I'm a little stuck, definitely going to come back to it, Outlast I didn't end up liking nearly as much as I thought I would but I'm going to give it another shot when I'm more in the mood for it, and Always Sometimes Monsters is more interesting than I originally thought, just haven't been in the mood for that either.
My Backloggery for anyone who may care
http://www.backloggery.com You can keep detailed track of your progress in your entire gaming catalog. Serves as a very useful tool to remind yourself that you haven't quite beaten this game yet or earned that Platinum trophy, etc. Then you can also see some basic stats on what percentage of your games you've not finished, beaten, mastered. Plus you can network with other gamers a bit and display your gamertags.
The Backloggery. It's a website where you catalogue your video games, can write short summaries of your progress or what you think of them, list what games you're currently playing, and most notably whether or not you've beaten or completed a game. It also has a good community, and a livestream every week.
Also , fyi, the guy who makes it is doing an entire site redesign. Here's his progress. and a preview.
http://www.backloggery.com/adam5396
Got mine all set up atm with only games I either haven't finished or know I want to play again to Complete/Master. So it's a bit weighted, but it's really useful. Especially for some of the shorter games I buy on steam since I know i can knock them out in a night, move on, then come back someday later on without worrying about forgetting they exist in an account.
Alright so I finally got off my procrastinating ass and made a backloggery account, (http://www.backloggery.com/hesitantjam) but I cannot, for the life of me figure out how to add someone to a friend list using the site. Do you know of anyway how?
I'm at about 40%; I started tracking it in 2010, and decided to mark everything as unplayed- I wasn't whether or not I had finished certain titles, etc. I just decided the best thing to do was to start completely fresh. (For those of you wondering, the first game I re-finished was Smash Bros. on N64, completing the game with every character on hardest difficulty)
40% puts me at about 352 finished games out of the 868 I currently own. I manage to play roughly 20 hours or so a week, despite my full-time job.
Check out my stats! I generally only mark games as either beaten or unbeaten, because I know deep down that I'll never be able to fully complete everything, but I mark what I do in my individual games.
Here's my list of games played and unplayed. Mine would probably look likes yours in length, maybe greater. There is an option on the site for unplayed games, but at the time I inputted most of my games that option wasn't there.
If you want to pick something on the list, pick something you know you'll enjoy and that is also kind of short. It'll get you geared up to take on more, and longer games!
I use www.backloggery.com. My only problem with it is it's not particularly pretty, and it doesn't have a pre-populated catalog of games to speed up the process of filling out your database. But as a no-frills solution it's really well put together.
(edit: Jesus my backloggery page is way out of date... But if you wanna see an example of what yours would look like, check mine out.)
Mine is pretty gross. If you want to see all my titles, I've listed them here: http://www.backloggery.com/games.php?user=trdaisuke&console=PSVita
I guess it's not quite as bad if I put it this way:
Hmm, thats weird, it works for me. Maybe my linking was wrong, I'll link here http://www.backloggery.com/Froboy88 and directly to PS3 http://www.backloggery.com/games.php?user=Froboy88&console=PS3
that's the closest thing I know of, but its 4 settings for things are:
Completed
Beaten
Unfinished
Unplayed
And then it lets you set a note describing how far you are
http://www.backloggery.com/alexf6460 This is my backlog. Any game other than mega man/mario kart/smash bros/mario party for mega man x collection. I am very flexible, and seriously interested in this game. Please contact me, and we can work something out. I will throw in multiple games for X Collection.
I use Backloggery. It's a website that lets you list your games, and keep tracks of new games you buy, which of them you've beaten, completion percentages and the like. There is no data for hours spent on a game, but the dates when you buy/start/beat a game are noted, so you could manually look at those.
Edit: Here is a link to a random user's Backloggery page, as a sample (it's personalised, as users get to pick their own banner and colors and stuff).
I used to buy a lot of games/systems online when I first started collecting but now I tend to buy most of them in the wild.
I have a list of all the games I have. http://www.backloggery.com/aakadarr
That's about right. I still enjoy gaming, but I've entered that phase in life where I have the money for games, but am slowly losing the time for games. The result is me buying things that look good and I keep telling myself I'll play them, but in reality it'll be several months before I get to them. 2/3 of my games have yet to be beaten and I'd say at least a quarter of them are still in shrink wrap.
With my growing backlog and diminishing free time, I find myself prioritizing more and more games that can be beaten in 5 hours or less, to the point where proudly boasting that a game's main quest will run into the 30+ hours is now a deterrent for me.
That isn't to say longer games can't keep me interested anymore, HowLongToBeat listed Fly'N as 5 hours for the main quest and 20 hours for a completionnist. I sank 43 happy hours in that game before resigning myself to beat it and I'm STILL jonesing for it. However, that was a platformer, so there was never much indecision when playing it, you just move to the next level.
I fully agree that having too many choices is like having too few, it's paralyzing because your brain can't properly weigh one choice against another. I use two tools for deciding what to play next: Backloggery's Fortune Cookie tool to just pick a random game from my backlog, while allowing me to define some criteria, and sorting by "Time to Beat" on HowLongToBeat and just picking what's shortest and sounds fun enough.
As for choosing what to do in a game, I don't think I have any magic trick for that. In the AC series, I'd usually just focus on collecting everything and doing all sidequests in an area before being arsed to get to the main quest, but to be perfectly honest, the vast openness of the AC series is probably why I don't like it very much. I'm more used to JRPGs which have a more linear structure where quests show up along the way as you progress, while still giving you some freedom of movement (depending on the game). It's just open enough to keep me exploring and curious about the wider world, while being linear enough so I'm not completely overwhelmed.
TL;DR: Use Backloggery and HowLongToBeat to choose games, play JRPGs and platformers ;)
There are a couple of websites dedicated to convince you to complete your backlog of video games. The one I have been using recently is The Backloggery, it is a nicely designed site despite the fact you have to manually add each of your titles by name.
Great site. I visit there regularly, though I don't plan to ever have time to even come close to completing my backlog.

But OP, I should warn you that I have a rule that I will not add anyone with a MLP avatar. That shit creeps me out.
> how do other people cope with problems like this?
I use backloggery. It's an easy way to see all the titles you have at once, or what titles you have per system, and it has a "Fortune Cookie" feature that will randomly pull a game title out of a proverbial hat for you to play. (And you can narrow down what it picks from--for instance you can tell it to only pick a PS3 game, or a PS3 game that you've marked unfinished.)
I have 300+ games in my backlog though, so I need an organized system like backloggery just to keep track of what I own from where.
I'm honestly not anxious for additional content; if I wanted that, I'd keep playing the daedric quests I haven't done yet. I played the game for nearly 70 hours, and I needed a break from it for a while. It's now been about 6 months since I last played the game, and I'm fine with that. When the DLC comes out, I'll enjoy that for as long as it lasts before I put the game down for good. I don't need one game to last me forever; I've still got plenty more that I haven't even played yet, mostly thanks to Steam sales.
If I do, it's only because video game collecting is the only place my money goes to besides bills. My wife isn't a huge fan of my video games taking over part of the living room, but that's only until we move out of this tiny one-bedroom apartment. If you, or anyone else, is big into video game collecting, I would suggest getting a Backloggery account. It allows you to keep track of which games you are playing, and that the status is on games that you have already beaten.
I find lately that I am spending more time buying games than playing games, so my percentages have been going down the tubes, but you can find my information here.
Hi there, I'm trying to register to apply to play as spy. I get this when I try to register on the forums:
>Registration
>one of your responses below was not correct
I have tried in both Chrome and Firefox :-(
Anyway for now I'm putting my application here:
Age: 22
Ingame Name: Buzz
Real Name: Jon
Sex: Male
From: UK
Previous Clans: BUNCS (my university's clan)
Other Games you play: Monday Night Combat (PC), Unreal (just about every version) (PC), Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (PC), Age of Empires 2 (PC), Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Wii), DDR (Arcade). Full list here, I guess.
Why you want to join T-A: I have been playing highlander on tf2lobby for a while now, and much prefer it to playing on pubs. Very interested in getting into the competitive scene.
I try and play every class a decent amount so I am pretty versatile, but I am definitely a spy main and that would definitely be my preferred class.
See me derping around on pubs as spy here, please ignore the fact I used to mainly use enforcer.
I have 146 games at the moment and I feel I have far too much. :S I couldn't imagine getting to 800 but I suppose it's easy to succumb to the sales. Also, how is Dungeons of Dredmor? I got it during the sale and haven't started it up yet. I heard it takes a while so i've kind of pushed it to the back of my backlog.
Working through my own backloggery at the moment here. I'd recommend you make one, it's great for keeping track of your collection.
My girlfriend uses GameSpot. You can make lists and rate the games easy enough. The news and information on the site is ok.
I like Backloggery myself. Lets you track what games you have beaten and not. Also does ratings I believe.
Here's my backloggery, which I use to track my progress in games that I'm playing through, beaten, and games that I've bought, but haven't played yet (which are many thanks to Steam and my NES collection). I really can't wait to finish Dragon Warrior so I can start the first Zelda to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary and the release of Skyward Sword.
thanks for the suggestion but I've built a list of my backlog on backloggery and I actually have a backlog of over 200 games!! If anyones interested my backlog is here http://www.backloggery.com/arj154
You know what motivates me?
This. It's my homepage, too, so every time I open up my web browser, my games stare at me. I'm working my way through Puzzle Agent now, though, and I wouldn't have, were it not for that site.
