It's always a possibility, but the only one that knows is Nintendo. Mega Yarn Yoshi was released on November 15th, about two months ago. It took Nintendo an entire year to restock Villager, but it finally happened. So it could be restocked soon, or a very long time from now. If you don't want to wait, you can always look into importing him from Australia, United Kingdom, Japan, or Europe.

You know you can disable the way those function keys work right? Right now you can hit Fn-F5 to get the F5 effect, but you can set it up so hitting F5 does F5, and hitting Fn-F5 will do the effect (dimming the keyboard in this case).

I've bought quite a few for my collection and absolutely love them. In my opinion, these are a very cost-effective way to display large collections given that each display holds 18 amiibo comfortably.

I watched a YouTube video from a guy that restores video games and retro toys. I just went to my local gas station and picked up a generic bottle of whatever lighter fluid they had. It’s similar to the one I linked on Amazon.
The one I use is “clipper” lighter fluid. It’s in a yellow bottle. I can’t find it online.

Yes, the stand alone amiibo is gone. The only one avilable at this moment is the switch bundle and that's kind of expensive

r/amiiboswap has a decent amount of posts about cards. a lot of people offer sale options rather than just trade options. that'll be shutting down soon, but in theory all those posts will move over to r/gameswap.
other than that, buying some blind packs on ebay/amazon is an option. you'll probably have to pay at least original msrp for them (they sold each pack for $6). you can also buy per card, but some will be more expensive than others.
for my collection, I got the EU official binders on amazon. I'm only seeing the series 3 one at a reasonable price right now, but if you keep an eye on it you might be able to get the other three.

I bring my twin brother. We share the collection but it has its benefits. Yesterday at Nintendo World, customers were allowed to get only one of each of the re-stocked Ike, Dedede, Lucario, Rosalina and Shulk amiibos. Seeing as we already had Ike and Dedede, we got two of each retail exclusive figures.
Jet.com has had this for $54 for a long time, and they offer 15% off first time purchasers. Don't know the price now, but check there before this link.

My reasoning for going NIB was that I couldn't come up with a cost-effective solution for displaying all of my amiibo while also protecting them from dust. Then a few months ago, I found some shelf organizers that fit perfectly inside some stackable plastic drawers, and each pair holds 18 amiibo comfortably for $15.
As far as opening them is concerned, I actually enjoyed the evening I spent finally opening up all of them, admiring the details, and meticulously organizing them to my liking. While I recycled all of the plastic, I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the cardboard backings because of the nice artwork.
While some of the functions are very limited, I'm still enjoying the novelty of placing amiibo on the Game Pad and 3DS reader. Training Mario in Super Smash Bros., and having Marth on my team in Fire Emblem Fates are my favorite functions.
All of that to say that I don't regret the decision of going from a NIB to OOB collector, and am elated that I finally have a way to display, protect, and use my amiibo :D

I've shipped amiibo for trades and it's less than $3 with PayPal shipping which is what eBay uses. All postage comes with free tracking with PayPal Shipping too. All you'd need is a small box and honestly you can get a free priority box at the post office and cover it in paper if they're going to be that cheap. There is really no excuse for this.
Tom Nook's and Mabel's price data have followed a more linear model thus far, noticeably different from Chibi Robo's.
Here is the survey monkey one as well. This one only shows the first 100 responses to that survey, so I did a take 2 with the Google one so I could gather more responses.
Some of the responses were not surprising, but here were a few that stood out to me:
-Just how US-dominated this sub is. I knew it (and reddit as a whole) was mostly US, but the other countries combined not even making 15% was a surprise.
-How few 100% NIB collectors there are. It seemed to me from reading posts to be at least kinda close to 50/50, but less than 10% of people who took this survey did 100% NIB.
-How few people are collecting just the smash line, as well as how many people are only collecting individual figures and no full lines. I suspect this may have been different if I had posted this a few weeks ago before the SMB line came out, but I saw tons of people saying they were stopping at Smash. It also seems like most people wanted to collect at least the full Smash line, but the highest-% response was people who are only collecting specific figures and no lines.
-Nearly a quarter of people either have sold an amiibo for more than they paid (and would do it again), or would do it if they had the opportunity, excluding mods. This sub seems to be hugely against that, but I guess people feel a little differently when they are completely anonymous and won't get downvoted ;)
Obviously this is not a complete representation of the sub since only a small percentage of people replied when compared to the 20k subscribers, and the time of day I posted it may have affected it as well. But it was really interesting to me to see the differences in what people actually think vs the preconceived notions I had from reading the sub.
Hope you all found it as interesting as I did, and maybe I'll make another one in the future and see how things change :)
This is the one I use. It sends a text message whenever a post with tracking flair gets added. You can also customize it to send emails instead of texts, or iPhone alerts (I use the iPhone alert variation, because IFTTT has a monthly limit of 100 for text alerts).
I have noticed that there is a slight delay (of a few minutes) in getting these alerts sometimes, so keep that in mind.

You can us page monitoring programs to get alerts or a service like IFTTT to alert you when keywords (such as Wave 4 Preorder) appear on this subreddit. The only issue with these types of things is that they monitor in set intervals and not as constant as say sitting at your computer hitting F5/having the page up and refreshing constantly.
As far as your related question, as soon as online preorders go up, try to get them since you can access them anywhere. For insurance, or if you prefer in store over online, preorder in store (GS, FYE, and TRU are the only ones that I know of that do in store preorders). Once you have your in store preorder, you can cancel the online one.

For organizing them, I recommend these. I use them and I think they do the job pretty well.

I usually search "Acrylic Risers" on Amazon and scroll down to one I like. Turns out I last bought this one.
But searching for "Acrylic Risers" or even "Acrylic Spice Rack" should get you to the clear display steps that a lot of people use for amiibo, Funko Pop!, and other desk figurines.
DIY wooden builds would be another option, but by that point, you just measure and build what you want.
That's not a bad idea, as epoxy is very moldable.
Make sure you get epoxy sculpt (a type of putty, usually comes in two parts that have to be mixed together in order to "activate"), and not regular epoxy (an adhesive found at hardware stores). If you go to a store and ask for epoxy, they'll give you the glue, and they may not even know that the clay/putty exists.
I got my epoxy from Amazon. The product is called Apoxie Sculpt. Note that you should keep your hands and tools wet while you work, so it doesn't stick everywhere. It's pretty messy, too, so cover your work table properly (I use a nonstick craft mat) to keep it clean.

If you can't luck out finding one, there's always the option to grab a JP version for a slight markup from Amazon. It's $10 more expensive than the US version should be, but it's also $10 cheaper than the US version is currently going for on Amazon.
Unless you live someplace pretty rural, I think you'll have some luck if you call / drive around to a few TRU's. :)
edit: I just took a look at some of the thid-party sellers of the JP version, and there are a few with over 700 ratings selling it for $30ish with shipping, which would work out to a $5 markup over US MSRP. Downside is that it'll ship from Japan and might take a few weeks, while the $35 prime version is 2-day (as you'd expect)

I just paid $16.95 for each, which is cheaper than it was when I bought one a little over a year ago (at $18.95, but only fulfilled by Amazon sold by someone else) though more expensive than when I bought the first 2 two years ago at (at $13.30 both sold directly by Amazon).
The same company that makes these things makes a slightly larger and taller version for around $25 (12-Inch W x 8.5-Inch D x 8.75-Inch H. Each step measures 2.75-Inch D.) or you can buy a 4 pack of the larger ones

This turned into a DIY project after the product wasn't ideally compatible for what I wanted to use it for. I didn't want to pay the prices I was seeing online for ready to use cases so i bought this baseball bat display case for $50 from Amazon. It turned out that it had the builtin baseball bat holder on the base and then you slide the cover on, so when I got it I was kind of "WTF this is going to push everything off", and also I would have to place the Amiibos on the sliding lid, so I got a dremel and cut the bat holder, drilled 4 small holes for the light insert point (and worked up... acrylic) and stuck the amiibos down with that credit card glue (reusable "Glue Dots"). There are places to order it which are AmiAmi be careful if you don't pay when they ask you to you would end up on their blacklist of people who won't pay, Amazon JP but I suggest buying a ton of stuff making up for the shipping cost.

You can also keep an eye out for the Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer Bundle with NFC Reader, it'll pop up on eBay sometimes, but there's usually at least a 20 dollar mark-up from the $50 it went for on release.
You might have to get a case for Skylanders or Disney Infinity since they seem to hold a lot. Here's a generic case I saw on Amazon a couple of days ago. Hopefully it's what you need.
You can preorder the amiibo from Amazon Japan. It does not currently ship to the US; that might change in the future. I had to use my Tenso address.
