did you disconnect the cables directly on the hmd as well?
http://www.drivethelife.com/uploadfiles/20160707/Check-the-HTC-Vive-USB-Related-Hardware.jpg
its the most stupid thing, but its mostly just the power or hdmi cable being disconnected in there
So in terms of End user experience for most people, they don't see their data being mined by Microsoft. Updates pushed may or may not brick their systems.
From a company perspective this is very bad as microsoft should never be data mining the end user for info.
May it be for ads or god knows what.
Especially when these systems run on other companies computers.
Just because they run fine on a specific type of hardware for some, doesnt mean Microsoft is doing good for the greater mass of end users, especially when they are preventing even the more advanced user from stopping the data mining.
Seriously dude, just check your drivers. Just because you can render a video for hours doesnt exclude other issues.
Just check the Top Driver Issues from AMD
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Top-Driver-Issues.aspx
for example:
> Some 3D games cause the system to crash to a black screen with looping audio
or hey look at this article from 10 days ago
http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/amd-issues-after-windows-10-creators-update.html
> You may encounter AMD issues when you are trying to run a game after installing the Creators Update, then your computer crashes down with an unresponsive black screen or blue screen.
why does this sound familiar? mhhh
is it that hard to believe that its not an issue with warframe but with AMD? its not the first time that something doesnt work with them (granted, in case of the creators update its either microsoft or amd who messed up)
Just thought id chip in case it helps anyone. My FPS hit the floor sometime around the update, tried a few things but I noticed in Task Manager that my memory usage was around 95% constantly. Bearing in mind ive got 16Gb ram on a pretty new rig, i knew something wasnt right.
Found out after a little googling that Windows 10 (and 8) have memory settings that are a little "strange". I just followed point 1 in this list http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-high-ram-cpu-memory-usage-after-windows-10-update.html and it sorted the problem straight away. Now back to some nice consistent FPS and I can play again. Hope it helps someone else!
It's a Windows bug.
Use solution 4 here (honestly, I have no idea why they bother listing other solutions) and it should be resolved after your next boot (worked for me anyway).
> What has been your biggest frustration with the setup process?
Initially I couldn't get the headset to recognise the HDMI connection to my computer. After some Googling I discovered that manually killing OVRServer_x64.exe
and allowing it to restart fixed the problem. I still occasionally have this issue, and restarting Oculus from the Oculus Home settings menu fixes the problem every time.
Post-setup I've had a few more issues. The other day I had a sensor randomly die on me. Nothing seemed to fix it (restarting Oculus, unplugging and plugging the sensor back in, trying a different USB port, running through setup again, etc). Finally, after trying a whole bunch of troubleshooting steps I finally just rebooted my computer and and the problem went away. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Yesterday, I thought I broke one of my touch controllers. For whatever reason, I couldn't make a "thumbs up" gesture with my virtual left hand. The thumb seemed to be stuck in the "down" position despite me not touching the pad. All the capacitive sensors seemed to be working fine, with the touch tutorial showing that the controller could detect which buttons I had my thumb on just fine, but the thumbs-up gesture just wouldn't work. Eventually I cleaned the surface of the controller off with a damp cloth, and that fixed the problem.
So yeah, that's pretty much the complete list of issues I've had with the Rift over the past week or so. Annoying, yes. But I was able to work through them just fine, and everything else seems to be working extremely well. I kinda hope that my experience isn't representative of what most people encounter though, as I'm not sure the average user would have as much success with troubleshooting these problems as I did.
You're going too high.
Win XP/Vista/7 would hang, screen would flicker, and it'd produce an error message that would say 'Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered', it seems the error message in 10 instead tells you which program was trying to use the GPU when the drivers crashed. In XP/Vista/7, when the driver restarted, it'd drop every setting to stock, so it'd be stable afterwords, but one had to go in and apply all the stuff in Afterburner again (and at that point, it'd be unstable again if they just tried the same settings). I dunno about 10, but if the driver crashed and afterwords everything was stable, it may have just cleaned out your settings in Afterburner after the crash (just trying to explain how it could be a one-off error message).
GPUs are more limited on voltage than temps, generally speaking. Usually the GPU bios locks voltage at some tiny little number above stock so there isn't much in the way of overvolting, but the core is mostly unlocked (I'm sure it caps somewhere), and it's all modified in Windows, so it's pretty quick and easy to crank the dial to a clock that doesn't have voltage to back it up.
There are 2 options, turn down your overclock until it's stable, or, (I don't recommend this if you don't read up a lot on it), flash your GPU bios to one with more voltage control, and feed it more power (it might still be unstable though, and if it lets you crank voltage way past safe levels, you might end up doing just that, so I don't recommend it).
It does happen, especially after installing drivers and games, I'm not saying it happens a lot but we have tracked it down many times to old installations of directx. Lots of stuff can upset the computer. We would not send one out if it Blue Screened by itself and not right after installing something.
This guide to fixing Blue Screens was updated three days ago, which shows it's still a pretty common problem at updates and installations.
http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/blue-screen-on-windows-10-issue-how-to-fix.html
There is actually. I've had the same build since Windows 7 (used 7/8/10) and ever since 10 I started having issues with pop ups saying I needed to close programs because I was running out of ram.
I used step one and it worked for me, but it is a registry edit if you want someone else to comment on it.
http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-high-ram-cpu-memory-usage-after-windows-10-update.html
*quick edit as I'm at work on mobile, but there were some other places that suggested the same thing, hope it helps!
If you don't already use an external FPS counter get one, the one build in KSP is very unreliable.
To narrow it down try the following:
Aerodynamic FX are one of the GPU heaviest options in KSP if turning it down your GPU is probably the bottleneck.
>This setting determines how many physics calculations the program can run per game second. So, as the number increases, gameplay slows down, as more calculations happen every game second. It slows down, but not in the usual way. There is no lag, but now one second that passes on Kerbin takes more than one second in real time.
Default should be 0.4, move the slider to the right and test with a vessel that has a lot of parts > 100.
>I'm using Windows 10 (64bit), which I suspect may be an issue but I'm not sure.
That might be an issue Win10 is a really bad memory and CPU hog that should have been patched by now but you still want to check out these fixes.
Updating video card driver helped me to fix the problem of game freeze. I downloaded Driver Talent, which could enable to scan my computer autmotically and find the driver problem, then fix them with clicks. It works great for me. I would like to share the tool with you. http://www.drivethelife.com/
The problem might be caused by the corrupted printer driver. Try to uninstall the printer and then resintall. You might also download Driver Talent. It could help you to scan the device and list the possible problems. Then you could repair the problems with clicks. http://www.drivethelife.com/free-drivers-download-utility.html
This seems to be a minor bug with Windows 10. I kept getting the same thing, but I updated my drivers and now it hasn't happened for a while.
Check this link: http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-drivers/how-to-fix-display-driver-stopped-responding-and-has-recovered-on-windows-10-8-7-xp-vista.html
I just tried this with my Acer laptop after having upgraded to Windows 10 from the factory 8.1, and while I downloaded all available (relative) drivers the issue persisted.
Next, I tried DriveTheLife based on some Googling and this article in particular. This app went ahead and updated network drivers even further, but I still seem to have my wifi cutting in and out intermittently usually for seconds at a time.
I'm wondering after all this if it could be my wifi myself? But when I crosscheck the connection with my phone/ipad, it seems to remain stable when the laptop wifi adapter cuts out.
?
Ninja edit: Since I reddit-searched this thread, I wasn't aware that this was a Surface-specific thread. My apologies, but I'm hoping my experience is still relevant?
Firstly, you should disable the automatic Windows Update to prevent the automatic driver and other software update. And if the updated driver is not working on your computer, use a smart driver update software to identify the most matched driver for your device.
Try this free tool if needed: http://www.drivethelife.com
Hi there, maybe the best choice for you is DriveTheLife for Network Card which is able to install the network drivers without WiFi or wired network connection. It will find proper driver for your network card and you don't need to worry about which driver to download.
However, you need to download it from another computer and transfer DriveTheLife for Network Card's .exe file to install on your own computer.
Totally free download: http://www.drivethelife.com
Note that you should Download DriveTheLife for Network Card, not DriveTheLife Standard.
Some long shot things to try:
Drive the Life - driver checker/updater
In a admin CMD prompt : 'sfc /scannow' (checks windows)
and lastly rerun the VC and Direct X install files found inside the BF4 folder.
Try this
https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/5ken0m/vive_suddenly_only_recognizing_one_controller_but/
Where to find lighthouse_console.exe Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\lighthouse\bin\win32 To remove all USB devices go to SteamVR Settings then Developer and look for a button Remove all SteamVR USB Devices. http://www.drivethelife.com/uploadfiles/20160707/Check-the-HTC-Vive-USB-Settings-on-SteamVR-Remove-all-SteamVR-USB-Devices.png
I don't know much, but i will tell you something that worked for me before.
So there is this program called driver talent that looks for updates for all of your devices. Turns out that people who don't have drivers aren't able to use this programm without internet so they made "Driver Talent for Network Card" which installs ethernet drivers as soon as it's installed (or first started i think).
I did this a couple of times before.
And after that i deleted the program immediately because who lets other programs control your devices heh
Hope that helps, it's all i've got!
that should be just fine it's probably just windows messing with ya then, try this:
update graphics driver
try this: http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-games/game-crashes-after-windows-10-creators-update.html
update directx
go to run>type 'eventvwr' then ok go to windows logs> application and search which module is failing and causing crash
Right.
Next time it happens I'll take note of the error code and get back to you.
Meanwhile, it looks like my problem is a common one with the Creator's update. A very common one.
http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-blue-screen-windows-10-creators-update.html
I'm going to try some of these fixes.
You may have to open the box, but the newer Vive controllers have a blue wrist strap, as opposed to the old gray ones.
The all-in-one cable that is connected to the headset is a single cable, as opposed to the older ribbon type.
Where to find lighthouse_console.exe Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\lighthouse\bin\win32
To remove all USB devices go to SteamVR Settings then Developer and look for a button Remove all SteamVR USB Devices. http://www.drivethelife.com/uploadfiles/20160707/Check-the-HTC-Vive-USB-Settings-on-SteamVR-Remove-all-SteamVR-USB-Devices.png
I know it looks like a hardware fault but most likely you can thank Microsoft and Windows 10 for the flickering. Follow this guide. It's probably Norton or iCloud.
If you can't find the culprit program, follow method 1 in this guide to stop it immediately. This is a 'temporary' fix, but it will work for a while.
If you are seeing this image: http://www.drivethelife.com/uploadfiles/20160827/how-to-fix-unidentified-network-problem-on-windows-10.png
Then you should reset your router/modem and try to replug or reconnect to the router.
If other devices have internet they are not the problem, you have restarted the router and/or modem right? you also have restarted the laptop?
i dont get the "to charge her wifi" part... you mean to charge the laptop?
Anyway, here is a tutorial that you could follow, it supposedly tells you how to fix the issue you are having.
http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-windows-10-unidentified-network-problem.html
Well that clears things up a bit.
Go to your sound configurations: http://www.drivethelife.com/uploadfiles/20150806/sound-properties.png
And see if your headset is set to default.
What you also can do is play some sound and see which device is listening to that (the bars on the right become green) to determine which device is currently set as the prefered device.
Likely not detected/reporting properly to pick up the generic bluetooth stack.
Go to the manufacturer website, they likely have a binary installer that you should apply. Alternately look at some of the steps here (note: i haven't personally looked into the driver fix tool they recommend) http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/bluetooth-not-available-not-working-after-windows-10-update-how-to-fix.html
Open up Task Manager and see what your Memory Utilization is. If it's high you might be suffering from a memory leak. I had this problem on Windows 10 about a month ago and this is what I did to fix it:
Here is the link for the other 9 tips:
http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-high-ram-cpu-memory-usage-after-windows-10-update.html
Since the Windows 10 Anniversary Update I have a similiar problem. http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-drivers/how-to-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-on-windows-10-8-7-xp-vista.html After i restarted W10 with this option, it worked great. And yes, you have to do it after every new boot.
Make sure you've tried all these first: http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-10/fix-high-ram-cpu-memory-usage-after-windows-10-update.html
For me I was getting 100% cpu because of the SCM program. It doesn't indicate why in the task manager. It just made whatever program being use have a really high utilization. My fix was to disable SCM at startup. You can do this by going to task manager -> startup. Now just open it manually if you ever want to go to dragon center. (You need SCM open to run dragon center). The cpu doesn't go high for some reason after I did this. I also set: "Micro Star SCM" and "MSI_ActiveX_Service" to Manual in services.
Did you also upgrade the driver? If not, you'd better to make the driver updated. A bad driver could cause a conflict, which might be the reason resulting in this problem. Well, if you are not sure if the problem is from driver, you could use a driver scan and update tool like Driver Talent to detect and fix the bad driver. http://www.drivethelife.com/free-drivers-download-utility.html
I got a reply back from support, and basically echo'd another reply in this thread. Said it's the driver enforcement in Windows that's causing this issue, and that it can be disabled as a work around until xigncode is updated. I found this article, http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-drivers/how-to-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-on-windows-10-8-7-xp-vista.html and followed the first option. BDO launched without any issue. Surprisingly, doing this also fixed an issue I was seeing with Samsung Magician for my SSD.
Change another version of Lexmark driver. If your Mac is with Windows operating system, then it is suggested you use OSToto Driver Talent to scan if there is a driver issue. I had the similar problem and this tool helped me. Well, maybe you can have a try.
Well they only have 2 items for your board with windows 10, Audio and USB 3.0 drivers.
Give driver talent a go and see what it comes up with. You could also try this chipset package from AMD but im not sure if its right for yours.
Well, actually there are six probably solutions for your review.
Update your graphic card driver. You could upgrade it in Device Manager or go to manufacturer's website to download and install the compatible one.
Restore to the earlier grahpic card driver. Go to Device Manager and find your grahpic card driver, right click and select ' roll back driver '. Note: Above two solutions you could use a third party device driver software like Driver Talent to help you to resolve the problem.
Check for the external devices. External devices you plug into your machine might cause black screen of death during Windows 10 update. Unplug all external devices. Restart the computer. If the black screen disappeared, plug the devices again at a time to see which piece of hardware is causing this issue.
Enter safe mode. Step 1. Boot computer to safe mode. Step 2. Press Windows key + C. Step 3. Select Settings and Change PC settings. Step 4. Select Update and recovery and Windows Update. Step 5. Select View details and Check for updates. Under Optional, install the updates.
Disable fast startup. Step 1. Go to Control Panel -> select Power options -> click on “Choose what the power button does” (located in the left pane). Step 2. Click on “Change settings that are currently unavailable”. Step 3. Unmark the checkbox “Turn on fast startup”.
Run CDM.
P.S.: You could get more detailded information from http://www.drivethelife.com/wind... and http://www.drivethelife.com/
Hope this could help you. Good luck.
Hi, the touch screen driver might not be compatible with windows 10. So go to update your touch screen driver. Here are the steps:
Also, you could upgrade the touch screen driver by using Driver Talent. It could help you to scan the old driver and you could download and install the latest one with one click. Here is the link: http://www.drivethelife.com/
Thirdly, you could go the manufacturer's website to download the newest driver and install it manually. You could visit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
Sincerely hope you resolve the problem soon. :)
To connect a Bluetooth audio device: 1. On the taskbar in Windows 10, select “action center” and then “Connect”. Choose the device name. 2. Follow the instructions that pop up. Otherwise, you’re done and connected.
Literally copy pasted from here. Don't suggest downloading any of the software they recommend though.
ram issue would most likely produce a bluescreen. nevertheless, you might want to check ram usage in the task manager. there are quite a few drivers that have massive memory leaks in win10 (intel rapid storage technology being one of them). if you do see high memory usage after a couple hours of having the system running, here is a good explanation of how to find the culprit: http://superuser.com/questions/949244/windows-10-high-memory-usage-unknown-reason#answer-949246
i'd also recommend getting HWiNFO to monitor temperatures. drivethelife is a nice tool to check if all drivers are up to date.
Yes, disable third party audio software may fix this problem. The similar issue happened to me before, and I finally found the issue happens only when I am using VLC media player, not when I am using Windows media player.
However, installing the right driver for your audio device is also important to solve audio issues. Try free driver update tool to check your driver status if needed. http://www.drivethelife.com/free-drivers-download-utility.html
For driver download and update, I recommend DriveTheLife, a free and super easy-to-use driver download and update tool. http://www.drivethelife.com/free-drivers-download-utility.html I recommend it not to promote it but it helped me a lot.
Thank you for your kind remind. As a matter of fact, as long as the Windows 10 is officially released, I updated my Windows.
I don't want to share my painful experience here. I just want to say that wait at least half a year when the new OS comes out.
However, I found a very useful site that provides much information about Windows 10 issues and solutions and the most concern is driver issues here: http://www.drivethelife.com/windows-drivers/how-to-free-download-install-driver-for-windows-10-update.html
There is obviously no Windows 10 driver for specific hardware device on manufactures websites on the release of Windows 10. So you have to install Windows 8.1 or previous old driver until the Windows 10 driver is officially released by Manufactures. As for network driver, I found a special tool that is specially designed to find and install network drivers even you have no internet connection. What you need to do is to download the installer. After running it, it will install the specific network card driver automatically. http://www.drivethelife.com/drivethelife-for-network-card.html
Yes, since there would be some time for manufactures to make most compatible drivers for the latest system Windows 10, it would take some time to fix the driver issues. However, many people said that Windows 8.1 drivers are adoptable in Windows 10. So you may take a try. Or you can even use 3rd party driver finder software to try to find a proper driver. http://www.drivethelife.com/free-drivers-download-utility.html
I don't know whether this tool can help to install driver. However, it is a totally free tool which will check for and install driver updates and fix driver issues in easy way. Try it out if needed: http://www.drivethelife.com/
If you are lucky, this free tool will find the driver from your manufacture's website. BTW, is your computer has an available internet connection right now? if not, try this tool which will download and install network drivers without internet connection: http://www.drivethelife.com/drivethelife-for-network-card.html
I won't select computer manufacture site to get drivers because it always disappoints me! I prefer to download drivers from parts manufacture's website. If I have more than one driver to search and download, I may choose to use automatic driver finder tool. Of course, I won't like paid programs because I can absolutely do it myself without any penny. So if I use such a program, I would choose a totally free tool. Search google, DriveTheLife is one of the results of free driver finder tools: http://www.drivethelife.com
Is it the problem of the newly installed nvidia driver? If so, you can try to uninstall the newly installed driver and then reinstall it. Here I can recommend you with a free driver updating program called DriveTheLife (http://www.drivethelife.com).
It is featured with driver update, driver repair, driver backup, driver restore and uninstall.
So if you need to uninstall driver, go to the Manage board >Uninstall > Choose specific unwanted driver to uninstall.
After that, back to scan all the available drivers on your PC, then it will identify the problematic and missing driver, meawhile, it will find most suitable driver. If you command, it will search >downlaod >unzip >install the driver automatically.
Free driver update software DriveTheLife provides you with free option to uninstall unwanted drivers.
It also offers to update outdated drivers, repair broken drivers, backup and restore drivers for free. Just have a try. Personally, it is a must-have program for Windows PCs.
Free download: http://www.drivethelife.com
Did you try the free program called DriveTheLife? It is wonderful on updating and managing drivers totally for free. Scan your computer for all drivers and repair the ones in question with one clcik. Free download if needed: http://www.drivethelife.com
Maybe the free program DriveTheLife can help you. It is free driver update and managing software, will scan you computer for all available devices and its drivers. If there is something wrong with your driver, you can fix it with one click.
It is just totally free, try it if needed: http://www.drivethelife.com
Yea, I saw many people reported the problem of "display card driver keeps not responding and recovering". There are two causes for this problem. One is improper video card driver and the other is video card hardware issue.
If it is the problem of improper driver, you just need to download and run this completely free program which will identify the proper dirver for your hardware automatically. Free download link: http://www.drivethelife.com
If driver update can't solve your problem, it is the hardware issue, generally called the protection mechnism. Just recall, do you usually face with this problem when playing games or processing graphics applications?
When you are playing games or processing graphics software, higher frequency is needed, if your hardware can't bear this frequecy, it will stop the driver to stop your work so that to protect your computer.
Sorry for my poor programmer and hope you can understand what I mean.
If you don't know enough about device drivers, you'd better not uninstall and re-install by yourself arbitrarily. And the truth is not the latest driver is the best, but the most suitable is the best.
You may use the free tool called DriveTheLife to manage your computer drivers. I recommend it because:
It is totally free, clean and safe, you don't need to pay even a penny to use the software. All the drivers installed by DriveTheLife are official version or WHQL version.
Intelligently scan your computer and display all the problems that need to be fixed including missing drivers, outdated drivers, need-backup drivers and so on.
Then you can repair the problems selectively with one click.
Drivers download and installation will be done with one click. What you need to do is to wait several minutes for the process to complete and restart PC to let your operation take effect.
Besides, you are free to backup, restore and uninstall drivers.
Official free download link: http://www.drivethelife.com
It is not the truth that latest drivers are the most suitable one for your hardware. So my advice is to use smart driver update software which will identify most matched drivers for corresponding device, and then download and install with one click. Plus, driver update software allows you to backup, restore and uninstall drivers.
The free program DriveTheLife can do all this for you, it is totally free not a free trial, have a try. Free download it here if needed: http://www.drivethelife.com/
