I recommend reading a book called "More Than a Carpenter" by Josh Mcdowell. He was a passionate skeptic who did thorough research into the validity of the Bible and Jesus.
He has the answers you're looking for:
Congratulations! Praying for you! I really like daily devotionals, even though I've admittedly gotten very behind lately. I have this book: https://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-Words-Jesus-Women-Devotional/dp/1432115979 I also like verseoftheday.com And then they also have these 'Passion for Praise' ones now: https://www.heartlight.org/cgi-shl/passionforpraise.cgi I also LOVE the BibleProject videos on YouTube!
I use Xiphos. As far as I've ever found, it has all the good things eSword has.
There's an Android app from the same project as Xiphos, it's called AndBible.
You should pick Xiphos over e-Sword, because:
Xiphos should probably work:
Also you may be able to install e-Sword on Linux using Wine:
http://www.tentmaker.org/e-sword_modules/e-sword-linux-wine-tutorial.html
Not sure if either has NASV but they're both worth checking out.
There's also:
Here is a Life Application Study Bible. I prefer the NLT but they have a bunch of different versions. I'd also recommend the youversion app as they have tons of different Bible versions so you can cross check verses.

Here's the link to the book I've already written! =) If you do end up buying and reading it, thanks in advance! Also, it would mean the world to me if you left a review, so that more people see it too! =D <3

Having to make that decision is a horrible position to be in, but you will have peace in setting her free from her suffering. This book was very helpful to me after the third time I had to euthanize a cat.

I really struggled with this when I was your age. The best advice I received was to let go of the idea that your life follows a narrative arc like in books and movies. You’ll never “arrive”. Even when you get whatever you’re seeking: job, wife, house, kids, you will be very tempted to compare them to others. It’s best to let go of this now and build the foundation of your identity on Christ.
This book helped me. Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God, Revised and Expanded https://www.amazon.com/dp/0805447539/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_GWMUFbA16JWAB
So a few weeks ago I read The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert by Rosaria Butterfield and it was an EXCELLENT read. She used to be a lesbian professor before she met Christ and was converted and shares her story. In it she also talks about how she was often addressed during/in her conversion to Christ and how she is perceived now. I feel like this would be a perfect book for anyone looking at how to approach the subject of homosexuality from a Christian perspective.
If you want to do more in depth reading on why the Bible is against homosexuality, you can get the best summation in Is God Anti-Gay?
Just my opinion here, but the best thing to do is NOT to treat them like anyone else or any different (obviously). Treat them like a normal everyday person and be their friend first (without verbally condoning their behavior).
It's an extremely difficult thing to accept, but the Lord calls who he wills and we have no say in the matter. It truly breaks my heart and is the hardest thing for me to accept. That doesn't mean though that you should EVER stop praying for them or being their friend.
I was in the exact same situation as you. I searched for answers and the answer was right in front of me the whole time. God wants us to go deeper in our walk with Him. Some times we are tempted to cost through our Christian walk. But discipleship, holiness and loving others are all things God wants to perfect in us. A book I read that really help me was, "Living The Abundant Life: How God rescued me and gave me the life I always wanted". The book is about living the life Jesus has for us. I hope this info is helpful.
First and foremost THANK YOU for what you all will be doing!
I have suffered a hardship *but* I have been doing some sort of homeless ministry-type stuff for over a decade (all glory to God). I can say you have some GREAT stuff listed, and the list u/KingOfThePenguins provided is pretty awesome too. One thing I would note is if you are going to do granola, opt for the "chewy" kind vs the Nature's Valley type because of teeth issues. I would steer clear of hand sanitizer and mouthwash, but wipes & toilet paper are always appreciated. One good thing is those thermal "metal looking" type emergency blankets (I know Dollar Tree used to carry them too) as they can help warm the whole body up, as long as there is some sun. From a food POV, the single-use chef boyardees, tuna, vienna sausages, applesauce, fruit cups, nutragrain bars, crackers, poptarts, juice, water, and "to-go" cutlery.
It has been said: "In the Old Testament the New is concealed, in the New the Old is revealed" (Augustine, Quaest. in Hept. 2,73: PL 34, 623; cf. DV 16).
I recommend this book/video series: "The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus: Who was the Man? What was the Message?" by John Cross.
If it's instrumental music, it's probably OK. I would recommend to any young believer to get grounded in sound doctrine. Below is a great study bible that can help you with that..

A few things come to mind.
You could do a bible study (workbook) together on the gospel message. Something like this, https://www.amazon.com/Living-Jesus-Growing-Life-Were/dp/0977366065
You could memorize the Romans Road. https://teenmissions.org/roman-road-to-salvation
You could watch some of Ray Comfort's videos together and discuss them.
The Action Bible - God’s redemptive story.
It’s in comic book form, really good. A lot of the bible stories are covered in chronological order. From Genesis to Revelation.
I got mine from Koorong, a Christian bookstore in Australia.
Hey!! pls read Ray Comfort’s “The Evidence Study Bible”! It literally has so many answers to things including this! I read it and it brings joy to my soul 😁! It’s the regular Bible, with added pictures, amazing background information about the verses, and how to be who God called you to be!!!! the evidence study Bible! 👍🏽

See, "What is Marriage?" by Robert George and Sherif Gergis. Best treatment of this question to date. Must be read carefully and slowly (and understandably controversial), but a landmark contribution to the question.

To take the Lord's name in vain was for the Israelite people to take the name of God, as His people and lived contrary to the way He had commanded. Imagine a wife taking her husband's name, being known as his, and then cheating on him. She took his name in vain if she was not going to live within the vows of marriage.
The third commandment is not about putting "Jesus" or "God" before a curse word (though you probably shouldn't do that) it's about living a life that stands in opposition to being a child of God. You can read [this book}(https://www.amazon.com/Bearing-Gods-Name-Sinai-Matters/dp/0830852697) on the subject.
I'm sorry you are living under this pressure. If they are specifically telling you to think about what others think, then that is fearing man not God. I recommend that you read this book, "When People are Big and God is small." It deals with this issue.
https://www.amazon.com/When-People-Are-Big-Small/dp/0875526004
I'm so glad you are at peace and are waiting on God for his direction. Can I recommend a book for your fiancé to read? It's called "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus," by Nabeel Qureshi. https://www.amazon.com/Seeking-Allah-Finding-Jesus-Christianity-ebook/dp/B07BB54FS5
It's so good. I listened to the audio version and he shares his testimony about coming from Islam to Christianity. He goes step by step through how he came to his decisions after studying the Koran more closely.
I know your fiancé is kind of already walking away from Islam, but this book isn't just about the walking away. It's about why he believed Jesus was the Messiah and Son of God.
I'm so sorry. It's definitely a trial that God is allowing you to have so you can draw closer to him. I recommend this book by Joni Erickson Tada on suffering. She is paralyzed from the neck down and has experienced a lot of pain. https://www.amazon.com/A-Place-of-Healing-audiobook/dp/B0047GCWEA
I think you can rest assured that an eclipse of the sun that will probably get no more than 40% coverage over Israel, and may have no noticeable effect, surely is not part of any of the eschatological prophecies. A total eclipse over Svalbard isn't in the book of Revelation.
My usual copypasta:
What's often lacking in these conversations is a consistent ethical model that lets us identify what sin is. The Church in my experience is shockingly bad at teaching this. I argue that Christian ethics are not rule-based, but are instead virtue-based; our goal is not to check the boxes, but to build a Christ-like character. We build that character by virtuous acts. So the question "is this action sinful" could be rephrased as "does this action tear down or build up Christian virtues in me?"
What are the Christian virtues? There are a number of lists, in the Bible and outside of it. But the ones in the Bible are impressively consistent. These are the virtues I can identify from scripture.

I just wanted to add this little book which was written to address the topic of the reliability of the New Testament: https://www.amazon.ca/More-Than-Carpenter-Josh-McDowell/dp/1414326270
The author began this endeavor as an atheist looking to prove the Bible wrong, and ended up as a Christian, having concluded nothing he'd found in all his research could discredit the New Testament as a reliable historical source.
There is a great book I recommend called Waiting on God: Spending Time in His Presence in Silence, Stillness & Expectation by Michael Van Vlymen
The teaching of waiting on God in stillness really works
The end is going to be a persecution like world has never seen, including severe spiritual attacks that Jesus said would be so bad he wasn't sure any believers would be there when he returned.
If you want to know how to prepare for the end, or any persecution that will come, read the book the insanity of God by Nik Ripken.
He saw the last Christians in Somalia killed, and his own son die on the mission field, and was left to wrestle with the question of, why does God allow this kind of thing to happen?
His struggle led him to interview hundreds of Christians currently living in persecution and Christians who overcame persecution.
He shares many amazing things from these interviews, and even the importance of preparing for persecution before God puts you in it.
One note, this was published in 2013, when the light of the gospel seemed to be extinguished in Somalia. Today we know there is a flourishing church there, raised up by the direct dreams and visions of Jesus to the Muslim people of Somalia. The very religious people who killed the last Christians Nik knew of in Somalia, and are the pirates you have heard about in the news. You can read about one of these men in dreams and visions by Tom Doyle
Our preps need to be a closer walk, memorized scripture and memorizing Christian songs with deep lyrics
When you have to try to have faith, it's not really faith. Faith is an automatic or natural trust in something. A baby doesn't try to trust his mother. A person doesn't try to trust that the floor they step on won't suddenly collapse. You don't try to trust that your car will get you to your next destination. You can lose faith in something if there was a reason for that faith to be lost (e.g. car breaks down on you, floor is unstable, etc).
In this case, the true faith has very likely not come to you, which is something that actually happens as you read or hear the word of God. If you get a chance please read the book below. It is a compilation of testimonies of people who had a "coming of faith" moment, an experience also known as being born again. Many of these people also had an intellectual faith in God, Jesus and the Bible before they experienced true faith. Many of them also struggled with doubts and tried very hard to have faith in God with their own strength, but it was no different from the faith Apostle Peter had before he denied Jesus, claiming he would die with Jesus.
https://www.amazon.com/How-They-Found-Christ-Their/dp/0914271946"
"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ."
"But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor."
"the wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
"Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.....” That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ "
Happy cake day.

Hello,
Which tracts did you use? I wish to try to spread the Gospel at some point as well, and I have wondered what tracts or materials to use.
I had thought about just buying this case of the ESV's reader version of Gospel of John, and handing them out after I introduced the concept of the Gospel a bit. I think the Gospel of John might be the best Gospel when it comes to explaining who Jesus was, and why we need to be saved. I bought my own copy of the book and it seems fairly well made for its price point, including a brief introduction to the Gospel at the start of it and very readable font size. For roughly 60 cents per book, it seems like an economic way to spread the Gospel as well.
So I’m a 24 year old women. I lost my virginity at 13. I was young and naive, I ended up having sex with 7 men by the time I was 14, the first two men sexually coerced me into it & after that my view on sexuality was tainted.
Personally I think what would’ve helped me is knowing how important sex is. How important I was. Knowing that waiting isn’t just about purity it’s about knowing how precious and important I am to God. Knowing that sex can cause emotional damage. Knowing that certain people will sleep with you only to use you. Eh it’s complicated… no one told me to wait.
No one told me that what I have is valuable & that waiting for sex leads you to a partner that is patient enough to truly love you. I’m not phrasing it the way I’d like to but you should be that voice.
This book changed my mind on abstinence. https://www.amazon.com/Sexual-Wisdom-Parents-Educators-Physicians/dp/0979540208
I highly recommend it. It’s written by a doctor and talks about many aspects of consequences that come from premarital sex. Also has a chapter on how to discuss with youth!
Kids hate being told no. If someone phrased it around my importance & what things are truly desirable in a relationship/marriage I may have made different decisions.
I’ve been with my boyfriend for a year now & we’re waiting till marriage. I never knew the level of true intimacy that comes in a relationship outside of the bedroom.
I really reccomened you watch some videos by William lane Craig on YouTube if your interested in this. He has also written an introductory book to this topic called on guard but I really like his book reasonable faith.
I also recently wrote a book on this topic https://www.amazon.co.uk/God-Exists-Christianity-Samuel-Miller-ebook/dp/B098KNQ4H4
Here is a good debate by William lane Craig https://youtu.be/0tYm41hb48o
God is very real. As Christians we should study scriptures, but we should also know the science and study it as well.
I think the initial lockdown caused a lot of anxiety for everyone, but I found peace in the Proverbs and Pslams. KJV audio bible is available for free and makes a relaxing pass time before bed to get your mind off your concerns and back into God's word.
> For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7
Definition of STEAL Intransitive verb
To summarise: if you didn't purchase it or ask permission for it, then it's considered stealing. As for Jesus feeding the 5,000, I'll refer to 1 Corinthians 10:26 which says, "for, 'The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it,'" and Psalm 24:1 which says, "The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it." How could it be considered stealing if everything in the world belongs to the Lord?
Like 99% of all an atheist's attempts to find an error in the Bible, they pick and choose what they want to be correct and incorrect.

I don't know if I have exactly what you're looking for but there are Bible study books that you can get probably on Amazon. You can search something like 'growing in holiness' or something along those lines. I did a Bible study a long time ago called 30 Life Lessons. It's by Charles Stanley. Here's the Amazon link:

Really what I recommend is getting involved in a good church that is centered in Jesus. Join a growth group within the church too. It's good to make friends within the church as the can hold you accountable for studying your Bible and help you be more spiritually disciplined. The more you read your Bible, the more like Jesus you'll become over time. The Bible changes the way you think which in turn will make you less sinful. If you want to overcome sin, Jesus is the answer. Do know that you won't be able to completely stop sinning until you get to heaven but while you're here on earth, Jesus will make you better and better.
I hope and pray that your desire for God and his great treasures will grow and overcome all your earthly desires. Ultimately, if we don't allow God to replace our sinful desires with a love for him we will fail to fight the sin, as our flesh is weak.
On a practical note, if you feel yourself being tempted, stop what you're doing and focus on doing something that will strengthen your relationship with God. If you are on your computer and tempted try to leave your computer and pray or read in the Bible.
Also don't get discouraged, sin will lose, but we are stuck on earth struggling with it until Christ's second coming. And no matter how much you fail God still loves you and has grace.
It is not a sin to not read the terms and conditions. You can rest.
Terms and conditions can sometimes include some items you don't agree with, and it wouldn't be wise to ignore them.
The good news is others have probably already read the Terms and Conditions and you can check about them here.
Praying the Holy Spirit reveals to you how unique are. There's only one of you in all of creation, and God put you here at this place and time for a reason. God has a plan for you, anyone who commits suicide interferes in that plan. I'm sure you know Romans 8:28, but I'll post it anyways. There's a small group of people at a Christian chat called "Hagmann Report Group" I'd like to invite you to join if you wish. You can private message me with your email which I need to invite you in. https://hangouts.google.com/

There are actually very good reasons to trust that the gospels are accurate recordings of the life of Jesus. That little book will lay them out for you. So I'd say start there, and then you can work on your faith in other areas afterward.
These are really great questions. There have been lawyers who have written books about evidence of God and Jesus, one was trying to prove Jesus did NOT exist, and when he did all his research, it was overwhelming that Jesus DID There are some books by Josh McDowell you might enjoy. Strange Fire by John Macarthur is a good resource about the origins of much of todays charismatic continuationism.
Im in a rather weird camp. I think both continuationism (charismata as the normative christian experience) and cessationism (total ceasing of many sign gifts) must rely on extra-biblical sources to be supported, as theres no definitive text that supports either way. That being said, I think the arguments for cessationism are stronger, but I'd be just as happy to be proved wrong.
The book I have already written does something very much like that, actually; it is a small book, but unearths some ideas that are pretty radically different than what most of the other Christian nonfiction bestsellers are about (while remains firmly grounded in what Scripture actually says, of course).
If you're interested in that, here's the link =)
I suggest reading "More Than a Carpenter" by Josh McDowell.
He was a former atheist and scholar who did thorough research of the validity of Jesus. He did it to prove his Christian associates wrong and you can read about his findings in his book.
I would say for sure the four gospels and the book of Acts.
But for a pretty nice take on living the Christian life, there is a short book called The Practice of the Presence of God by brother Lawrence. It's available for free all over the internet. I read it in this app on my phone.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.bible.android.activity
You can add Bible versions and commentary, including Christian classics.
That book is interviews with a monk in the seventeenth century. It really simplifies things. I can do no better without God making me able. It's not a surprise that I fail or sin. God is grace. He forgives my stumbling and helps me live out my faith right.
God bless you!
Oh, before I forget, go to gotquestions.org to see answers to most questions you can think of. Reliable and sound.
I’m really sorry to hear that, but I’m happy that you got your job back!!
Here is what I bought, and it worked like a dream!! Shop around, but something like this is what I have in mind.
I think there's an extension of a Biblical principle to one of your concerns here. 1 Corinthians 5:9-10 says
>I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.
We aren't expected to go out of the world. If there's smoke in the air, and you inhale it, because it's in the air, you're not offending Christ.
Have you considered using a breathing mask / filter for when it happens, and a fan to increase airflow? Something like the linked one is what a family member of mine used doing outdoor work with severe allergies, and it seemed to be effective for them.
You can’t go wrong with this book.
I am using Olivetree app on iPad and iPhone, looking up the topical references from Nave’s Topical Bible. Combining with regular bible and printed out pages from Nave as well.

The Passion Translation Matthew 10:28-30,32-33 Don’t be in fear of those who can kill only the body but not your soul. Fear only God, who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. You can buy two sparrows for only a copper coin, yet not even one sparrow falls from its nest without the knowledge of your Father. Aren’t you worth much more to God than many sparrows? So don’t worry. For your Father cares deeply about even the smallest detail of your life. “If you openly and publicly acknowledge me, I will freely and openly acknowledge you before my heavenly Father. But if you publicly deny that you know me, I will also deny you before my heavenly Father.

Hi Taci,
There is always a huge debate about what Bible to use, but when you investigate this you realize that there shouldn't be a debate at all because it's much worse than stuff simply being lost in translation...
I'll let you investigate this on your own so you can come to your own conclusion; however, to help you make an informed decision I'll include a couple of links below to help you on your journey to the truth.
I would highly recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0963584502/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_yuc0FbVK201YH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here's a presentation by the author of that book about this topic: https://youtu.be/PmIsqO1FJ6c
I hope this helps.

One extremely approachable way to study deeper is to get a set of commentaries to read alongside your daily devotions. Here’s something that should work really well for you: the Be series books by Warren Wiersbe.
Start with the one on 1 John: Be Real.
Simple!
In case it helps, you could:
Read through the "Handbook Of Christian Apologetics" by Peter Kreeft & Ronald Tacelli. Amazon has used copies for less than $10 total. Or check your local library system.
Listen through this set of 16 lectures (MP3 files) on "The Authority Of Scripture" by Bible teacher Steve Gregg.
Me either, until recently! Here's the link for the android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.youmeforever.readscripture&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dbible+project+app&pcampaignid=APPU_1_lAICX-ydIenS1fAPz_KDyA4
For iOS:

I hope it helps you feel less overwhelmed.
God loves you so much that he died for you. He created a way for you to return to him every time you mess up and there is NOTHING that you can do to make Him love you any more or less. Is Love for you is constant, eternal and unchanging and that will never change. Don't forget that.
Keep doing what you are doing. Keep fighting with everything you are. It honors God because it means your heart is in the right place. Remember that a natural sexual desire isn't a sin. It's part of being a human. What can become a sin is what do with those desires. But always remember that when you fail, (because we all do, it's human.) Don't let negative thinking consume you. God would NEVER guilt or shame you after you have sinned. He only hopes that you'll genuinely ask him for forgiveness and a fresh start.
I know this response is getting lengthy and I apologise for that, but also think about talking to someone in person about your struggles. Maybe TRUSTED pastor or a parent. We aren't meant to deal with things on our own, we're supposed to encourage each other, to strengthen each other in the common thread that has tied us together, Jesus and his love for us. Also keep in mind that apps like Safe Surfer exist. They are super helpful in limiting NSFW or other tempting things on the internet.
My DMs are always open if you ever want to talk. I'm happy to try and help in whatever way I can. Remember that God loves you. Stay strong.
Here is a very in depth tutorial on getting started.

Personally, I don't do everything they have listed. I only use Sabnzbd, Sonarr, and Plex.
You may also want to check out /r/Sabnzbd and /r/Usenet. For the price of Netflix a month you can have access to all that Netflix has and every other movie and TV show you want anywhere in the world.
I am not aware of any study groups, but there is an app that you can download that has a week by week walkthrough study of the new testament. The Gospel Library App also has all of the scriptures in the app as well and it's free! There are a LOT of podcasts that compliment the Come Follow Me study (that is the name of the new testament study I mentioned) and one I personally recommend is The Scripture Study Project . They have their podcasts on multiple platforms as well.
These are LDS based but I think you'll find they give you a fresh perspective on The New Testament.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Hey. I think this is the one i have, a gift from my father, and i think its great, highly recommended! I would usually have it and also just a regular NKJV bible. In fact my brother has one and was just talking to me about it the other day and telling me what he liked about it.

In case the link doesn't work, search for HCSB study bible.
First of all, dealing with lust as a teenager is very difficult because of the hormones, but that cannot be an excuse to throw your hands up in defeat. Jesus is able to bear our burdens because He did that very thing on the cross. When you bring this lust to the cross and submit yourself to living righteously, battling lust becomes a lot easier.
I recommend Setting Captives Free. It's a free ministry that teaches you to battle lust with the gospel, since the gospel is meant to soften our hearts to living for God, and sin is a heart issue at its core.
I would also recommend the book Every Young Man's Battle. I read this book when I was 20 (I am 30 now), and I have still retained the information in my use against the desires of the flesh.
This may not be a direct answer to your question, but I highly recommend picking up a good Biblical commentary. It’ll really help with these types of questions and just give you more context in general. It’s especially helpful for a book like Revelation which is full of symbolism that’s easy to miss with our modern context. Personally, buying commentaries has really benefited my Bible study and helped me to understand the scriptures more deeply :)
There are some good ones out there that cover the whole bible, such as the Bible Knowledge Commentary, written by some folks at Dallas Theological Seminary. That one will cover things pretty concisely, but it’s a cheaper resource for the entire Bible, whereas many commentaries on all of scripture can be several volumes and cost hundreds of dollars.
That being said, you’ll probably get more out of a commentary that was written for a specific book of the Bible. For that you’ll just want to research the best ones for the book you’re studying, and keep in mind they range from a more devotional-level, all the way to huge, exhaustive, technical, PhD-level text books. Many review sites will tell you where they are on that spectrum and give you multiple recommendations.
Also, thank you for introducing me to r/Biblereading :)
Sure, this is my go-to book for historical basis Evidence That Demands a Verdict: Life-Changing Truth for a Skeptical World https://www.amazon.com/dp/1401676707/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ao6cFb5FFWM4Y
https://youtu.be/oQd-fdpq9mk this channel is really good a lot of people like it, they have more videos like this
Ravi Zacharias, Mike Winger, Capturing Christianity, and the classic William Lane Craig, they can also all be found on YouTube and they all have great content
I would thoroughly recommend looking into obtaining the new Nelson’s study Bible that is in color. It has commentary and engaging visuals that have helped me stay engaged with the Word. Since I got it off Amazon, I have loved reading the Word even more!
There’s The Action Bible. I own one but I haven’t read it myself yet as I’m still trying to finish my King James. It’s 752 pages of about 215 graphic novel styled bible stories from genesis through revelations. I believe it’s based off the ESV but I’ve never read an ESV so I’m not entirely sure myself. It’s by Sergio Cariello who worked for Marvel and DC. It’s a reworking of of David C. Cook’s Picture Bible from the 1970’s. The index tells you specifically which book and verses the stories are from. There’s about 8 pages that are based off of non biblical historical texts though it tells you where they are in the index so you can skip them if you wish. I bought mine on amazon but I saw one on the bookshelf at Walmart a little while ago.

Want to Taco about Jesus? Lettuce Pray.
That's the type of dank Christian wear this vessel normally desires, but thanks for the linkage!
Candida Moss goes way too far to discredit early church history, but she does point out this problem of martyr complex that some Christians in America identify with.

Charles Williams wrote an odd book about one soul's damnation: Descent into Hell. He's an acquired taste but you might check him out if you'd like an imaginative take on the subject.
This book is an excellent collection of essays by Christian artists, pastors, and theologians on the subject. A lot of the artists who contributed do make explicitly Christian themed art, but the ideas that inform their work are applicable even if that isn't your focus.
We use the Beginner's Bible every night with our 2 sons.
Covers many great Bible stories, is actually Biblical, and has pleasant art to go along with it.
Both of my sons love it (ages 8 and 5).
even though that is not the name of video, it is however, the name of his presentation that he did at Reformcon. Good stuff on the book called Evangelical Exodus: Evangelical Seminarians and Their Paths to Rome. They come from arminian baptists to Roman Catholics.
> What work is this from?
It's from an excellent biography of Newton by Jonathan Aitken. Aitken was a British MP who served time in prison for perjury and corruption of justice charges. Just prior to his incarceration, he attended an 'Alpha Course' and was saved. Afterwards, he studied theology for the Church of England but refuses to be ordained because it would bring dishonor on the office of minister. So he wrote Newton's biography instead. It is very accessible, and written with wry English humor and understatement. It's not flashy and not hagiography. If you're interested in sketching a brief overview of Newton's life, I heartily recommend it.
John Newton: From Disgrace to Amazing Grace
Anyway, Aitken is no scholar, so he doesn't footnote every attribution of Newton's, but in the back of the book, he lists the sources he used in writing that particular chapter. It's in chapter 45 and the setup for it is:
>Newton’s ability to summarize the essentials of the gospel message in pithy phrases was often displayed in his pastoral letters. In writing to Mrs. Wathen (the wife of King George III’s oculist) in 1799, Newton set out his view of “the signs that accompany salvation”
And it lists some letter collections in the sources in the back.
If you read even a little i really recommend 2 VERY small, super easy to read and enjoyable books: Christ our life and The Good God, both by Michael Reeves. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Christ-Our-Life-Michael-Reeves/dp/1842277588/ref=pd_sim_14_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=51AcgzpI5lL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR104%2C160_&refRID=0TFXQK3W54SWVVD6DDPB
Don't be so hard on yourself, rest in God! Things can be tough at times and so can praying/studying and everything else (trust me i know!), just know that when you fail you are already forgiven! Jesus does not fail, he has already won.
Seriously give one (or both) of those books a go if you can!
And i'll pray for you as well :)
God bless!
Thanks for the links.
I have the Hendrickson (publisher) version which has the summary at the back with other extra features.
Nancy DeMoss Woglemuth (formerly Nancy Leigh DeMoss) wrote a booklet on the Biblical Portrait of Womanhood (amazon link). Here is the free version that she posted on her website. She has several reflection questions (and obviously cites scripture).
If you are looking for a commentary on Genesis, I'd recommend John Walton's commentary in the The NIV Application Commentary series. It does a great job of balancing good scholarship and practical application while still being accessible to a beginner.
You do know big name preachers write books on this stuff right?
Thank You for your concern. I too have disdain towards prosperity gospel and 'feeling-logy' , I'd assure you Beth Moore isn't on the same line with these folks. Her "pals" are Priscilla Shirer, Kay Arthur, and other Bible Teachers out there.. If you ever browse through her workbook collection, you'd see --Esther, James, David, Jonah, 1&2 Thessalonians.. etc
Her workbook review: http://www.amazon.com/Children-Day-1-2-Thessalonians/dp/1430028602/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_y
For Scripture memorization I recommend the app Bible Memory: Remember Me. Quizzes, flashcards, audio recording, playback and an intelligent review system help you to memorize your favourite verses from 44 English (and numerous other) Bible versions. It's so easy to use it is even part of Google Play for Families.
