There were summaries of the changes but very few details included. Also some of them turned out to be inaccurate, for example there is no infantry.
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/274181-hitbox-localization-2/ This should tell you what you need to know. The head hitboxes are tiny but once you get a hunch where it actually sits it's a lot easier. As a general rule of thumb you need to hit the windshield and if it's something like a Marauder or Hunchback with a large glass cockpit with multiple sides then you need to hit the front-most part of the windshield.
As a quick suggestion, JoytoKey is also a fantastic, free, lightweight software for binding keyboard and mouse commands to any joystick. I haven't played MW5 with HOTAS or Controllers but that software can help you out, and it's very straightforward.
Programming needs are different in terms of PVP Host State Rewind is necessary to balance both players perspectives and the delay through the server of reconciling them. That’s really important if you are in a PvP game, but not as much in a coop PVE game. https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/151749-host-state-rewindand-you/
First off, did you purchase through Microsoft Games, Steam, or Epic? Let us know by editing your original post.
About the mod scene. Yes, there are a number of modd’ers making some nice quality of life changes to the game that a number of us think should be included by default. You can find most of them on Nexus mods site. You just need to put the contents of the downloaded file (including sub folder of the mod) in the mods sub folder where you have the game installed. Some of the mods are made to work specifically with the DLC.
Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries
A number of them made it into the Steam Workshop, which makes for an easy install. Just subscribe and it gets loaded for you. Then enable it under Mods from the main title. Restart the game, and enjoy the QoL changes. I’m running a Nexus mod with a couple of Workshop mods right now. So they work together.
Not sure if there is an easy way to install mods via Microsoft Games or Epic.
Since you did not purchase the DLC, you can’t start a Career from scratch to do sandbox testing to see how everything works before starting the campaign. You can go into CO-OP and do Instant Action to test loadouts and get used to the mech lab. There are a number of videos out there to help you get started. Sorry, I cannot suggest which ones since I didn’t watch any. Been playing Mechwarrior games for a number of years, and Mechwarrior Online off and on until they combined group and solo queue. So I was very familiar with the interface, equipment, and what to do.
Also check out the Official forums. Mechwarrior 5 talk is a sub section under General Discussion. Link: https://mwomercs.com/forums/forum/565-mechwarrior-5-mercenaries/
There is a General Discussion forum on the Mechwarrior Online website for this game: https://mwomercs.com/forums/forum/565-mechwarrior-5-mercenaries/
But be aware, the salt mines are in full production over yonder...
Just going to mention that if you want to read about the fall of Rasalhague it is in the Blood of Kerensky trilogy since u/PGI_Chris only mentioned the Warrior Trilogy and Heir to the Dragon.
If you live countries that support the service, Amazon has "Print-on-Demand" options for all the core Battletech novels at an affordable price.
If you're a fan of Legends of the Kestrel Lancers, check out the Warrior Trilogy.
If you want to tee yourself up for Rise of Rasalhague, check out Heir to the Dragon.

Will I can testify that what MS did for M4 Mercs mostly was to make all copies very difficult to find; even bootlegged ones.
You said something about an online focus; I found this: https://mwomercs.com/
Perhaps all efforts have been to shifted to modeling silly hats to sell in it's micro-trans shop.....
Cockpit hitboxes aren't where the "head" of the mech is. Its where the cockpit is, for example the atlas cockpit is in the left eye. Check out this post, its for MWO but should also apply roughly to MW5 mechs.

23.99$ for standard edition but I am not using USD. Its about 100 my local currency.
Most AAA games are priced at $60 so I thought this was pretty cheap.
This sounds like pretty bad bug, I'm not sure if PGI know about it, the best place to let them know is on the official discord...
The best place to contact the dev's is in the games official discord; bear in mind that to communicate in the discord you will have to verify your phone number. That being said the dev's have said that they are working on a patch (for consoles and PC) but they have not given a date for the release...
Might help - If you have a MWO login, go to,the official forums and bump up the two discussions about this. I doubt any of them look here, unless it is to promote something to get money from you. Because, we all know, word of mouth about how fun a game is never helps sell something…….

Actually incorrect.
I had a Demolition mission on a Small narrow map. I approached 1 objective only, at first the odds were not bad but over time while trying to have the allies fight 1-2 Mechs plus vehicles, more Mechs plus vehicles kept showing up.
In the details I described in the forum topic, I also showed how mission type does matter and Scripted vs Random missions matter with proof from the game so anyone can do the exact same as I did to see it too. I also included the times when enemies are placed right next to your starting location in missions like Raid where you are not in your Dropship, you watch you Mechs for a few seconds like they are doing a cool pose but the enemies are shooting them and you cannot fight back. When you get in your Mech, you are starting a mission with pre-existing damage.
Having 2 different Difficulty Rating Systems does not help either.
That and more is all detailed in my forum topic on it.
Yet nobody uses them and there were even reports where people got Team killed for using them. As I said though, they only really were the sympthon of a bigger issue to follow.

Again, conxtext matters, if you are just going to nitpick what I'm saying to try to save your broken arguments you really ain't doing yourself any favors buddy.
I do wonder the same thing if you are so sure of yourself...since we are at this for at least 2 days now.
Was linked this thread by someone in another thread around here when I was asking about VR. Super interested in this... used to play MWO in a mechpit from 2012 to 2015/16 or so. Now I have VR and pancake gaming is absolutely dead to me, particularly any type of sim. I still have my mechpit (typing sitting in it right now in fact) and spent better part of 2 years looking fwd to MW5 specifically because PGI touting VR support right up until they Lucy'd the football.

As an original Founder and veteran of all the peasant uprisings from 3pv all the way back to Dragon bowling so I knew better than giving them money sight unseen. Nonetheless I was beyond disappointed when they dropped the ball on this shit as it was my most anticipated experience yet. I have a nice simrig and enjoy simracing, a dedicated sailplane cockpit, a motorcycle cockpit etc but what I really want to do is melt faces in a god damn mech in VR. Vox is cool and all but there is no substitute for dedicated primary controls like my mechpit uses when it comes to immersion so not even Vox really scratches my particular itch.

If there's any way I can help to move this forward, testing etc I'm more than happy to. I don't care if it takes Vorpx or whatever I just want to stomp my mech in VR

Also remove the hat buttons. They always screw something up.
You are misremembering. Perhaps you just have so much time in MWO that you compensate for it naturally or something, but no, MW has never had... We'll call it "full" tank-like controls like that.
In fact, here's a discussion thread from 2015 about exactly the same thing:
https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/212252-controls-to-turn-legs-independent-of-torso/
Edit: another example from elsewhere on Reddit:
>The Kaiju has two MRM-30's and three Light PPC's by default
lolwut
Its stock load is the same as MW5 mate. UAC5, 4 PPC, LRM15, STD300, Endo. I'm literally looking at it right now in MWO.
Also says as much on the MWO website. https://mwomercs.com/resistance-heroes
As for the STK-5S, looking into it, it was another Invasion-era production like the KGC-001. Its exclusion was likely because it wouldn't make sense even ic the tech fits.
> We are talking about the electronic version rights not the tabletop...
You flat out said "Microsoft owns the “Battletech” non-computer game license.". That's wrong, and was never the case.
You don't seem to understand the difference between owning the IP, and having a license to use the IP.
Microsoft owns the MechWarrior PC intellectual property. They license the rights to that IP with an agreed upon contract. Sometimes terms of those contracts allow the licensing rights to be re-sold during the duration of the license. That's how PGI got their initial license from S&T.
PGI currently holds an exclusive video game license from Microsoft for the MechWarrior IP. If this license expires or some other termination clause is met, the license defaults back to the IP owner (Microsoft), who can then license it out again to another party.
But hey, if you don't want to believe me, maybe you'll believe the CEO of Piranha Games.
Check it out yourself on mwomercs.com. The community preorder was in January and came with a bunch of mwo stuff.

Here is an idea for how to set up your stick that might set you in the right direction.
Just use your mouse for vision, map, and targeting, maybe set Center Legs Under Torso to Middle Mouse Button.
Nice. That would be perfect.
Would you suggest the current deal on GOG.com that includes two of the DLC packs?
Last time I played a Mechwarrior game was Mechwarrior 2 and Mercenaries all those years ago but those were...man those were good times. The highlight of my middle and high school days for sure. I remember getting so invested into those games.
This has been the first Mechwarrior game in a looong time that I have considered playing, I hear mixed things unless you start playing with the Inner Sphere DLC and then apparently the game is pretty damn good!
Nvidia Gamestream works with the Epic Games Store version of MW5 Mercs. I had to manually add MechWarrior.exe from it's install location to the list of games in the GeForce Experience Settings for Shield.
I used https://moonlight-stream.org/ as the client.
First impressions indicate it's a bit laggy. I'll need more testing to verify.
Hey, you should stop by here more often. We do these kinds of miracles every other day or so. You should also definitely browse around for some quality of life mods. There's some UI , AI, spawn fixes out there that will probably improve your game experience. Don't ask me exactly where to find them and what they are, though, I kinda stopped playing MW5 before all these popped up.
Oh, and if you ever wanna try co-op, here's the official discord invite link, you might even find some people to play with, if you ever bother tackling MW5's clunky UI, backwards co-op approach, and shoddy connection problems. Although, AFAIK, EGS MW5 owners and Xbox game pass MW5 owners can't mix for now?
Legendary founder and no.I was one of those people who became no longer the target audience for that game when it went 3pv when they repeatedly told us that it would not be so. and I was "On an Island", I didnt buy 90 days either

A history lesson for what MWO was like for the first two years
If you're interested in the original novels, The Warrior Trilogy is available through Amazon's print-on-demand service if you want a nice hard copy of the book and live in a region that offers that service (Sadly, still no bundle for them though, Need to buy them individually.)
The digital books are available through a number of storefronts and I believe that Catalyst is beginning to migrate a number of books over to Audio-book formats.
IIIRC, the Spider and the Wolf was a graphic novel but there were scenarios at the end that showed the composition of Black Widow Company during their time with Marik. It did show early composition of their forces.
