Three key foot pedal with ability 1, PTT and ability 2 bound. I don't think I can go back to not using a foot pedal. Hella cheap on Amazon and full use of both hands while talking
Edit: This is the one I use but there are a ton available

I don't play Zarya so I don't have much to add about the content. I do like that you're helping the Zaryas approach this from a whole game perspective as opposed to a when A then do B type of thinking.
Just wanted to give some advice about your video production, if I may:
The source video seems pixelated. This is mostly obvious around the letters. Play with your export settings to ensure sharper output.
You could do with a better mic. I want to guess that you're using your headset's built in one. Even this one will give you much better audio quality. Make sure you use a pop-filter as there's quite a lot of plosives in the current video.
I started by setting my relative sensitivities to the same ratio, so my flicks are a consistent mouse movement for both heroes. I use 39.5 for Widow ADS which corresponds to 1:1 for flicks of 300 pixels (1/3 the way from reticle to edge of screen on 1980x1028) I tend to flick wider than most people. 37.9 is 1:1 for 100 pixel flicks. 50 is 1:1 for 960 pixel flicks (all the way to the edge from the reticle). Plug those values in here to find the corresponding Ashe values:
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/oxdagztkcl
That helped me a ton transition from Widow to Ashe.
Here is the patch that introduced this behavior.
From the patch notes:
> Respawn Delay > When attackers outnumber defenders while taking a control point on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps, the defenders’ respawn time will slowly increase until it hits a maximum value or the defense manages to gain the upper hand. > Developer Comments: Until now, stalling an attack by repeatedly throwing yourself at the point has been a common defensive strategy on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps—even when the attackers have a decisive advantage. Typically, this tactic doesn’t change the outcome of battle; it simply delays the attackers’ progress
There’s nothing here about the raw number of attackers, just that attackers need to outnumber defenders on the point. It’s not explicitly clarified how this works on the escort portions. I assume that it only comes into play when the payload is contested, rather than delaying defender respawns when defenders are regrouping to take a new fight. But even if this was in effect when the payload isn’t contested, 1 attacker still outnumbers 0 defenders. No need for 3.
> I would like to see more points awarded for stellar performances and wins, or derankings for poor performances and loss.
This is actually already implemented in the game:
> As you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.
However, some players (myself included) would actually prefer that performance within the match be excluded from the post-game calculation. This is because the current system incentives behavior other than simply winning.
For example, there's a highly-ranked Torbjorn who is sometimes talked about here on Reddit, who apparently isn't terribly good but whose turrets allow him to participate in a great many eliminations. Because of that, his rank adjusts upward more than his teammates feel his participation merited.
In another example: in some unbalanced KOTH matches, the winning team will farm the losing team near the spawn point. If you're on the winning team and stay near the capture point to ensure that flanking characters don't get any surprise captures, you're directly helping your team win but will receive a smaller rank boost than your teammates who are padding their eliminations.
Ana's Nano Boost is a weird one I admit. Its cast time is insanely short but back in the October 10, 2017 Patch her ult was classified as a Cast-Time Ult that can be interrupted by Sombras Hack or EMP--then there was the later update shortly after that made it so McCree could cancel everything that Sombra could cancel.
Honestly, people arent kidding when they say it feels like dumb luck when you manage to cancel a nano boost; sources cant seem to peg the length of the Nano Boost cast time but some guesstimate have it at only .1 of a second!
I haven't had the chance to check personally, but based on the wording of the patch notes, it's only when Valkyrie is active: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/21013135#patchnotes
Obviously it's still early days, so Mercy players are going to be using her new Ult to go ham with her offensive abilities. But when the seasoned Mercy mains get to grips with it, Valkyrie mode is going to mean 20 seconds of nigh-invulnerable battlefield medic.
Its not 7 games within a week its a maximum of 7 days before SR decay occurs.
"When you complete a match, the amount of time until skill rating decay occurs is pushed back by 24 hours, and you can bank up to seven days per week"
I'm a big Magic: The Gathering fan. The head designer has three main gamer profiles that all gamers fall into - Timmy, Johnny, and Spike. You're definitely coming at this from a Spike angle. OP sounds like a Johnny/Timmy to me.
I myself am a Johnny and I think most one-tricks are as well. There's something about Hanzo that seems really cool and that's all they want to play. Same thing with Sombra, Junkrat, Symm and a ton of other off-meta one-tricks/mains. There's something that resonates about those characters and that's why they prefer to play them even though they're not the most.efficient.technique.available.
A Spike is concerned about winning and winning only so they don't focus on that connection to a character. They make the optimal pick to optimize winning. Johnny usually wants to win but wants to do it in style as a form of creative self expression, "I made it to top 500 with only junkrat".
Even if you're a strict Spike, you're going to be paired up with Timmys and Johnnys in most games so you're better off learning to see things from their perspective and learning how to play with them instead of just swearing and typing in all caps about how your way is right. Kinda like when OP writes, " there is the opportunity to see the choices of others, and accept them. It's an opportunity because, of course, nothing is forcing you to accept them."
See things from others' perspective and if nothing else, you should reduce some tilt on the ladder.
The best thing is to get a very directional mic that sits close to your mouth on a headset and turn down the sensitivity/gain until only your voice registers. When shopping look for the term 'cardioid'
If you have a directional mic (you might already) then make sure the positioning is good. You might want to invest in a boom if it's on your desk.
VoiceMeeter can help if you don't want to upgrade hardware. Setting it up can be a little confusing but there's a bunch of youtube vids on how to do it. Once you get it working you'll want to mess with the Audibility setting to try to filter the keystrokes without messing with your voice. I've tried it out with a decent condenser mic but was never really able to get rid of the keystrokes and ended up just swapping to a modmic set to unidirectional mode.
This is ridiculous. Genji's primary job is to kill people. That's not him being selfish or "playing deathmatch", that's how he contributes to the team. If all he can do is hide and snipe because the new OP support and the FotM comps built around her counter him, he's not going to get very many kills and he's a bad pick.
If you can't go anywhere near the enemy team and you need long range and mobility to kill them from a distance, we have better heroes for that.
> Mm no
I know. Back in I think the break between seasons 2 and 3, Blizzard changed the ranking system so that people in the overpopulated gold and platinum ranks would spread out. Therefore, as he was in 48 (gold) in season 1, he would be in low gold / high silver in the updated rankings that apply now.
Very true! eDPI isn't same as DPI. eDPI is basically the true movement you get considering both DPI and ingame sensitivity, if I'm not mistaken.
To clear things up:
My dpi is 400 Ingame sensitivity is 8.00 Relative scope sens (widow) is 35.00
Oh and the scope of ashe might feel a bit off. Use this link to calculate your relative sens:
Radio interference, a mess of wifi signals fro other houses/apts nearby, packets are more likely to drop on a wifi connection vs a wired. Shit a microwave being turned on can affect your wifi
You can get a WIFI analyzer (example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=abdelrahman.wifianalyzerpro&hl=en_US ) to see the traffic in your area
I really appreciate the effort put into this post - even if not all of The Art of War is directly applicable to something like Overwatch, I think this post highlights how valuable a macro-perspective on a fight can be. I know I often get far too caught up in my micro-actions as a Tracer, and lose perspective on my part of the whole, which it ultimately more valuable in Overwatch.
Great writeup!
Mercy boost is currently a 50% damage buff on PTR, which is what this parent post is talking about.

>The Art of War - Sun Tzu - An Animated Book Summary [8:41]
>>Written in China more than 2,000 years ago, Sun Tzu's classic The Art of War is the first known study of the planning and conduct of military operations. These terse, aphoristic essays are unsurpassed in comprehensiveness and depth of understanding, examining not only battlefield maneuvers, but also relevant economic, political, and psychological factors. Indeed, the precepts outlined by Sun Tzu can be applied outside the realm of military theory. It is read avidly by Japanese businessmen and in fact was touted in the movie Wall Street as the corporate raider's bible.

Having transferred to Overwatch after nearly six years of playing FPS on PC, I can suggest a couple things.
1. Mouse Sensitivity From my two years of Counter-Strike life, one of the quotes that stuck with me for the longest was ”find a sensitivity you like, and stick with it. Don’t change it every month.
What he meant is that, if you keep “tuning” your sensitivity drastically, you might be good for one round, but it will harm you in the long run for not having practiced enough that you can know exactly where your crosshairs is going to land. Sticking with the program (sensitivity) will pay dividends with ingraining tracking into your system.
1.5 DPI Small tweak, but a huge difference. If possible, check to see if your mouse supports multiple Dots Per Inch (DPI) profiles. Most pros play in the 400-800 range, including myself. This makes tracking smoother and less janky, but believe me when I say that you’ll get an amazing arm workout after using it for a while. Might even have to get a new mousepad, if you don’t mind.
2. Practice (in other games too!) As with all things, practice makes perfect, be it DM, QP, or even shooting range for an early morning kickstart.
3. Diet This may seem silly, but consider passing the morning soda or coffee for tea, juice, or best of all, water. Science has shown that obesity (im a bit thick too) has been connected with poorer reaction time, putting those with a genetic inclination towards gluttony at a natural disadvantage. Counteract this with exercise (as cliche as it sounds) to keep that heart healthy and mind awake. Sitting in a chair for long periods, as you can imagine, has the total opposite effect.
Any questions? You can find me at: -[Steam](www.steamcommunity.com/id/mactavish52) or -BattleNet
This should have been patched out according to the patch notes.
>Competitive Play
>Fixed a bug that caused players to get a leaver penalty during offseason matches, even after the in-game banner advised it was safe to leave the match
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20861969
edit: actually console games may be behind in the patching. So they could still be affected by this bug idk.
It is a bug with the current live patch. In the PTR it's fixed.
EDIT: Here's the PTR Patch Notes. Scroll down a bit to see the bug fixes.
Yes - see the (extensive) patch notes. A lot of heroes have changes on PTR for balance testing. The game the OP is referring to was played on the test server.
Can always start developing them. Get a free video editor like DaVinci Resolve and start messing around.

Maybe not working for ArK in the short term, but in the long term it could pan out.
There are a number of diagnosis tools embedded in OW. To use them:
Now there is a number of things that can go wrong and how you can detect each issue:
- If FPS numbers are not stable over time OR GPU temperature keeps rising beyond limits for you card, something might be wrong with your GPU settings or hardware (e.g. a fan not working properly leading to overheating). I have similiar HW and settings and stay in the 60deg range.
- If you keep seeing three dots instead of one behind the FPS number, this is the famous reduce buffering issue. Uncheck + check (toggle x2) ther reduce buffering setting
- If SIM value (3rd value in top row of network graph toggled by CTRL-SHIFT-N) is not stable around 10 ms (which you should have with your settings), a hardware issue or unwanted guest software issue is likely.
- If ping is unstable (in normal game not test range): Your internet connection is affected. Check router, cables and your ISP perforamnce with a tool like https://www.speedtest.net. If ping or DL/UL rates are fluctuating by say +/-100%, it might be an ISP issue.
>Tracer is like 30, canonically.
She's 26. Check her story on playoverwatch.com.. Uprising was seven years ago, so Tracer was 19 on that mission with Torb, Rein, and Mercy. By that point, she was already a stellar RAF pilot, been selected to test their special time-travelling jet, got fucked up chronologically, came to Overwatch's attention, had Winston design and successfully build a chronological stabilizer.
Overwatch's official timeline has all kinds of huge issues.
> Buy Aim Hero.
As an alternative, there's Aimtastic which is free. Didn't fully test both to know the differences, but from what i've seen, both offer identical tests.
Some heroes are asking to be hard-countered though. At 150 hp and with short-range continuous fire (as opposed to burst like Pharah), Tracer is a risky pick. With a propensity for 1v6'ing at close range, Hammond is a risky pick. They are so unbalanced (as in "specialized," not "overpowered") that it takes very little to "hard-counter them." They do half the job themselves! If you told someone who'd never played OW that "there's this totally broken character in this shooter I like to play that has no gun, no mobility, and a melee stun" they'd look at you confused("What, like Uther?"). It's only because Tracer cuts so many corners in her character design that the matchup is so bad for her. Sure, if you get up close and have a tiny health pool, then yeah, Brigitte will seem OP. But at a certain point, maybe you're just paying the price for Blink, Recall, and high DPS.
I like characters like Tracer. I like Brigitte, and Hammond, and Doom, and pretty much everyone. I like having a diverse cast (RIP Mercy, Sym, and Torb). But "hard counters" are a natural and unavoidable side-effect of that. If you don't like being countered, that's fine---just keep switching between McCree, Soldier, Hog, and Moira---generalist characters with nothing that really stands out. But if you want to do something special, specific---then be prepared to switch when the enemy starts hammering on your character's weaknesses.
So I had the same problem. This occurs because plays.tv uses variable rate encoding, which messes other players/editors up. The solution I used (which seems to work well) is to 1)download handbrake, then 2) close plays.tv entirely, then 3) use handbrake to re-encode the output video file to a constant bit rate.
Plays.tv has a support article on their website about this exact issue. If I find it again I can forward it on.
Zalman mic for 8 bucks on Amazon - Sounds good and uses a standard 3.5mm audio jack, so no drivers or BS. If it's not long enough you can get it with an extension cable or pick up a cheap one from Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, whatever. It clips onto your headphone cord or shirt or whatever, and if it doesn't hold tight enough you can just put a binder clip on it. It's a great way to not spend 100 bucks on a headset that sounds as good as $30 headphones. Now you can spend that money on something that sounds really great, or beer.
The PTR patch actually says "or all at once". But apparently it didn't make it to the game.
edit: link to PTR patch notes
edit 2: apparently I lied and it says "in a single blast"
I'm not sure they've announced an exact end time for the event. But Double XP ends at 11:59pm PST on Monday the 12th. I'm feeling pretty confident the event won't end before that. It'll either end at the same time, or at 9am PST the next day.
That said, I'm still nervous and don't know if I dare wait to buy the event items I want. I will probably buy them tonight and just take the risk of getting duplicates because you can never be 100% sure unless you just grab them early.
Your comment was a bit ambiguous so I just want to clarify what he was saying just to make sure. He's talking about a game called Aim Hero. It's $5 on Steam and a wonderful resource for working on your aim and improving muscle memory. 100% worth the $5.
If you haven't yet checked out the Overwatch Aim Website, you should. As the title implies, it's a website dedicated to improving your aim in Overwatch. It pretty much boils down to drills you can do in Aim Hero and OW to build muscle memory while giving you benchmarks and goals to shoot for. It may not be the end all when it comes to practicing, but it's a great place to start.
here is the ult charge requirement per hero. https://overwatch.gamepedia.com/Ultimate_ability
Edit: Ok I made a desmos graph with equations comparing healer ult charge rates. You can also compare their heal rates to a damage hero's charge rate as well.
Trust me, I know you feel absolutely terrible, you feel like you're moving your arm a mile, stick with it.
You can check your DPI for sure with Logitech software, but again, your mouse is bargain bin, so it's up in the air.
DPI tends to be in presets of 400-800-1600-3200, your mouse is slated to be 1000 DPI, but mice are fucky so you'll only know for sure with the software.
Posted this in a similar thread, applies to Cree too but obviously at a shorter range. https://www.reddit.com/r/OverwatchUniversity/comments/dm0h8m/how_should_i_deal_with_a_widowmaker_as_ashe/f4vkb3m?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
>There's three ways to counter a hero
>1. Hard counter by killing them 2. Soft counter by pressuring or negating their impact 3. Denying them opportunities to thrive
>As Ashe you can hard counter by killing her.
>You can soft counter by firing in her direction, this let's the widow know you know so she'll have to continue playing safe.
>You can also soft counter by contesting high ground or her positions by either taking the high ground yourself or having sight lines of the high ground. But as Ashe you only want to do this when it's a mid ranged duel or it's in your favor.
>You can deny her opportunities by throwing your dynamite which will force her to go to a health pack or call for heals.
>You can also deny by sitting behind a shield.
>These positions vary from map to map so I can't tell you an exact position that works for any map.
>....
>For dueling tips, take off angles since she has a small FOV while scoped, she won't be able to see you. Or use your coach gun to rapidly close the distance to a mid or short ranged duel.
>...
>Shameless clip example plug. After wrecking that smurf Ashe, I use my positioning and cover to deny Hanzo the opportunity to shoot at me or team and soft counter by contesting his position. He can't ignore me since I can kill him so I essentially turned the fight into a 5v6 by diverting his attention.
For anyone with carpal look into this mouse. It forces you to use your arm to aim more. It helped me a ton AND kept my fingers tips from going numb! Yes it looks weird. But it improved my aim and comfort a shit ton. You know once you get passed the learning curve.

Imo you're making it unnecessarily difficult and will still be at a disadvantage vs kb+m players .... My gf has this table from Amazon that she puts over her legs on the couch that might work for you with a 10key less KB and a high sensitivity mouse?

Complete coincidence, but I actually just finished making one for Android called OverTime. It's similar to the spreadsheet ones, but also lets you track things like performance of your team and yourself per-game & avoids used, then you can see what times of day or days of the week are better to play at than others. It shouldn't get outdated for new seasons as you can add and rename seasons on your own, and I'll keep it updated for new heroes and maps as they release.
You can also use it in a browser, too, but I like having it on my phone because I can super quickly punch in the previous match info while I'm in queue for the next one.
If anyone happens to give it a try, let me know what you think! Hopefully this is okay to post here.
The front is wherever the enemy is concentrating their forces. Over in the Destiny pvp sub, someone did a pretty awesome series breaking down The Art of War and interpreting it for games. Here's a relevant quote from the post about fronts and flanks:
> If the enemy sees the flank and garners attention onto it, the flank become a front. You no longer have the element of surprise. You see, fronts and flanks are fluid, circular concepts. Fronts can become flanks and flanks can become fronts. Just because you lone wolf’ed your way behind the enemy doesn’t mean you flanked them. What you may have done is shift the location of the primary frontal attack and ensure your quick and painful death.
So while the front is often at the choke, it isn't always. Once a team turns an places a Rein shield towards you and starts to focus you down, you've become the front. This isn't necessarily bad, since if you stall and keep them tunneled the choke point has become the flank, and your team can now easily catch them by surprise. But that is difficult, and understanding the differences are important.
It was a pretty interesting read. Specific examples might be for Destiny, but the concepts are universal. Here's the summary/contents of the series. The one about flanks is week 5
I would use OBS (Open Broadcasting Software). Its what I use for the series, casting, and recording in general. You can set the recording to your own FPS and resolution very easily and OBS is pretty nice to use!
There are plenty of guides on how to setup what you need, and again quality doesn't matter, only that you do it! :D
I think that's a really good line of the topics I could look too. I think the next two concepts episodes fall more appropriately under the umbrella of improving individually. but I think that your idea could be a very dense and informative episode, or another series within Stratwatch.
Thank you so much for your time and thoughts! Let me know how setting up OBS goes for ya! :D
According to Oct 16 patch notes, everyone lose their full ultimate bar the moment they press the ultimate button.
Before that patch, it used to be inconsistent, because some heroes had an instant ult depletion, while others would decrease after activation (allowing, eg, for Pharah to let some Barrage rockets out before being deleted, and keeping her ult), and others would only deplete after the whole animation would end (eg, Lúcio would only deplete when he slam the ground).
I'm fine with discussing if some ults should not instantly deplete, or if we want to return to the former mechanic. I'm just pointing out that its not a bug. Ult depleting as soon as you click ultimate, and before its animation finishes, is working as intended.
> From November 17–20, we're calling on all prospective agents: assemble your team and dive in during the Overwatch Free Weekend on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One!
I'm not sure how you collected the data for PC but I'm pretty sure blizzard provides the same data for console as they do for pc. For example:
>His primary attack is the Hand Cannon; this four-shot weapon fires projectiles from Doomfist’s knuckles one a time or in a single blast.
So what exactly is meant by these patch notes from the PTR?
edit: link to PTR patch notes
It also isn't true.
Look at this account's genji play in competitive. The 21 seconds of total play is in a single match, which ended in a win. Obviously it isn't the whole match. Nonetheless, there's a listed 100% win rate with him. Using your explanation that should be a ~2% win rate, depending on precisely how long that match took.
I thought it was intended, but then this is in the patch 2 days ago
>Fixed a bug that allowed enemy players to detect Sombra (while Stealth was active) if they were within a certain distance
Sorry for the long ass link, but anyway-
Less than $30, seems pretty spacious, and it is foldable, so you can totally save space when not gaming. Just one example of seemingly many:
Here: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20812212#patchnotes.
I belive the changes on Roadhog will make it be obligatory again to fire a melee attack after every sucessful hook.
As someone who got into diamond playing largely Symmetra on both sides (yeah, I'm that awful person - https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/career/pc/us/Nami-1205), I'd say Mei, Tracer, Reaper, and Pharah are your best bets for consistently countering a Symmetra.
Mei is a solid pick. Playing as the Symmetra, you either need backup or the Mei needs to be bad, 'cause you're not winning that fight one on one otherwise. Just beware of her orb charge. Tracer can help distract the Symmetra and maybe even solo kill her, depending on how on point her aim is. Only bad Reapers die to Symmetra, as he's got a way to escape and can kill her in a couple of well placed shots. And Pharah, when in flight and constantly pressuring people on the ground, is a nightmare for Symmetra. In my experience anyway. All you have to watch out for on that one is her shield when you pop Pharah's ult. It will make you kill yourself.
I'd also say McCree and Roadhog, but you better be on point with baiting her shield out of her, 'cause if you miss that flash bang or hook, you may as well be as good as dead. Roadhog's hook has a similar length cooldown to Symmetra's shield, so keep that in mind when hooking. And know that Symmetra is always going to be expecting the hook when you're paying attention to her until it's thrown. Don't blow your load right away. Bait the shield.
I should give Zarya an honorable mention here, too. She doesn't necessarily excel at killing Symmetra, but her ability to shield herself and her teammates forces the Symmetra to play a game of whack-a-mole with her foes. It kills her effectiveness and, generally speaking, her as well.
I've read that it's 20% reduction for Ironclad instead of 35% which sounds great to me. I think the main problem now is the durability of his sentry mode. I actually like his run and heal Recon mode right now, which is also strong.
Edit: It is 20% https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20594521#patchnotes
Individual performance is definitely factored into SR change calculations. Medals do not always correlate with individual performance, and are not considered (to the extent of my knowledge) in SR calculations.
> Skill ratings will be visible at the beginning of every match. As you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.
That's a fair point and I completely understand.
Just an idea, I've seen that you've been using mega to upload your work. You could use GitLab or GitHub and create a repository to host it. It would also give your exposure since it will be referenced on search engines and maybe people will just give the link to your repository even if they claim it's their own work, it will lead to your repository with your name. It means learning to use Git, but for a small project (in terms of amount of code and number of files, not in terms of investment or quality of work) such as yours, it's the matter of 2h max since you won't need all the features of Git. Here's a nice guide to learn Git. Imo, just the 3 or 4 first chapter are really needed for your project and they are rather small. Maybe 50 pages max. But again, just an idea if you're interested in such a tool that can help to keep an history of what you've done, track changes and keep a clean workplace on your computer among other things. Maybe you already know all of that and have already thought of that.

Blizzard said they wanted players to place lower than they did last season.
" Many players will be ranked lower than expected after their Season 3 placement matches; however, this should normalize as the season progresses."
We don't know if you should be in bronze unless we see gameplay, but the easy answer is "yes", you are where you belong.
They don't list passives on the playoverwatch site ( Compare Hanzo ), so she might have something.
This picture kind of looks like some sort of mobility slide, but I'm not sure how that would work.
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20034301 >In the Closed Beta right now, Loot Boxes can only be earned by leveling up your account, though we also intend for players to be able to purchase them with real money once the game is live.
We scrimmed in a tournament earlier this year during double shield meta and we practiced a lot of Lijiang. We TP'd near/to the point on every map we could. There really wasn't much of an advantage because both teams are tele'ing so you have to tele otherwise you're at an disadvantage. Whoever makes it to the tele first get's to position better on the objective since the late team will be more or less stacked up under the tele. The earlier team's Sigma get's to setup on an off angle and get ult first.
We actually had a big brain strat to break tele with Mei wall and it won us a map. The replay is on 0.25x so that shows the level of coordination and the margins in timing you have.
I've joined a team last week and we use Guilded which is a nice system that you can link to Discord. It provides scheduling and knowing who goes, organizing VOD's/media and stuff like that. I highly recommend using it :)
Generally speaking you want one swipe across your mousepad to be a 360 (unless your mousepad is massive).
I have this mouse pad and this mouse
I rock 800 DPI and 5.25 in game. It works super well for me.
Depending on your setup you will do different things but that’s just how I did it.

You might also enjoy checking out "Crucial Conversations" and "Influencer" (Kerry Patterson and Jeff Grenny), "Switch" and "Made to Stick" (Chip Heath and Dan Heath), and any book written by Jim Collins or Patrick Lencioni.
I'd also opine that no one in any leisure pursuit or in any professional context "deserves to get raged at".
> I looked at some of the resources here but didn't remember seeing anything like your example of "are you harassing a back line as flanker".
I don't really have any resources on that. I'd suggest to figure out what heroes you like, and try to find a playstyle with those heroes that you enjoy, but also allows you to fulfill the role you when playing that hero.
For example, you might enjoy Rein, charging into a group of enemies and hammering away. And while that might be a good play at times, sometimes your team just needs protection.
As far as resources go, I think the best thing might be to look for individual hero guides, and see what those guides claim that hero should be doing.
Coming back to tracking stats, performance and improvement. I know I talked about the inaccuracy of stats, but higher stats do often mean better perforance, and there are some conclusions that can be drawn from them.
Here are a couple tools you can use:
All these tools also compare you to their other users (with in what percentiles you fall), but take that with a grain of salt. These tools are used far more by higher ranked players, which means that averages and percentiles over their userbase are a lot higher than over the games playerbase.
Edit: Also, im only a plat support main. I'm not really the best person to ask for advice.
Check out "Oversumo" it does exactly (and only) that. To add to what Tullino said below, it is indeed subjective and I don't agree w/ every counter in it, but it's good for a quick reference during games.
Apologies if this has been posted already, I'm in a bit of a rush. It's a One Drive spreadsheet with a decent collection of information.
Depending on the model of your AMD card, it may be possible to use a custom version of OBS which is able to use your videocard to compress the video, freeing your CPU so that the game won't lag that much.
If you want to give it a try, you have to find out if your card have a GCN 1.0 and up, and download that custom OBS version here: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-branch-with-amd-vce-support.13996/
Something I haven't really seen mentioned yet, straight from the Overwatch website:
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/game/endorsements/
>Higher endorsement levels can help you get better groups in the Looking for Group tool.
If you're a higher endorsement level, you're more likely to be grouped with other people that have a high endorsement level, which usually means people that are better at communicating and won't tilt as much. So if you use LFG it's not totally useless.
Also you get loot boxes occasionally for endorsement levels. I'm not sure exactly how/when they're given out, but it says during special events, so I'm guessing at the beginning of each of the holiday events or maybe monthly or something.
There's an acute difference to me between a low level account - could be new player, could be someone learning something new in comp on an alt account - and a true blue smurf who deranked their ass to stomp.
I've gotten a feel for the true smurf (regardless of account level!), and someone's alt. And I don't expect an alt, on an unfamiliar character/role to be godly. They may know the game a rank or two above, but different heroes are different.
True smurfs can go burn. (And some clever use of playoverwatch.com + knowing their level + icon from in-game to find them + overbuff to check their last season record if they're hiding profile can tell you who the jackass smurfs are.
Alts are fine, sometimes you gotta learn something new without tanking yourself and your teammates at higher ranks.
Speaking as someone who was just in the mid-high bronze - a high gold Hanzo smurf did, indeed, carry the enemy team on their back fucking us up royally. We were a coordinated, smart six stack working together, and we just could not deal with this Hanzo. (Note: I only know the Hanzo's previous rank thanks to Overbuff, as they went all "hiden profile", but Overbuff KNOWS your secrets. I've found two smurfs in the last two days this way, I'm smart, resourceful, and have both Overwatch, PLayoverwatch.com and Overbuff to find your secrets.
The second smurf was part of a six stack deliberately throwing. THAT had a Plat near diamond widow. (And trust me, she could pick. 5 of 6 camped my 5 mates in spawn, and she was busy trying to kill my Roadhog butt. (Lucky for me, she never succeeded.) They also never bothered actually going for the point, hence KNOWING they were throwing.
Low Rank hasn't been the worst. LFG found me and my duo a solid consistent group, and we threw a discord together to plan to play together more. We've actually finally all made it out of Bronze, and into Silver (again).
For anyone who fell hard, find a good group of people. We went LFG, no role lock 2/2/2. We rotated a few people but eventually had a solid group. Can't guarantee every time you do it you'll get a great group, but we finally did it.
But yes, a higher rank player with strong mechanics can do massive damage to carry a team. That Hanzo literally was our bane, we couldn't do jack without them just ruining us. (The rest of the team wasn't half bad either, but that Hanzo was something else.)
I use the Logitech G600 and am pretty happy with it. You can bind the side keys to whatever you want, whether duplicating keys, using unused ones, or combos like shift + num pad or something. I also play some MMOs, though, and get decent mileage out of the side buttons.
I've used some Razers in the past, but find they get sticky double click issues pretty quickly, whereas I've had this one almost three years now with no issues.
Tanking is what I'm leaning towards right now actually. I think I have the most potential to advance more quickly doing tanking since I don't have to rely as much on also improving mechanical skills like aiming for DPS for example. I think I have good enough aim for platinum, but I'd start struggling to be consistent enough to be competitive in mid diamond most likely and I feel like my aim in various FPS games has been stagnant for a literal decade at this point.

Which tanks do you think are the most crucial to master in the current meta? I know Reinhardt is pretty much always viable even if he isn't technically always the "best" pick for the map/comp. I guess I need to learn Winston who I haven't really played much at all yet if I want to be main tank when my team wants to run dive? At gold people pretty much always want Rein and coordination usually isn't good enough for dive, but I need to "dress" for the rank I want, not the rank I already have. :P
My understanding is that Orisa and Sigma are kind of "bad" at the moment, but maybe that's just some BS that gold players say. It's hard to tell what's legitimate and what's just bias from low-elo players that don't know what they're talking about.
I enjoy playing off-tank too and I have a decent bit of time on Zarya and Roadhog, but like you said I think I have the most potential to climb playing main tank. Lately, I've just been letting the other tank choose first then I'll choose Rein if they pick and off-tank and choose Zarya or Roadhog if they choose a main tank.
By the way, I already started creating a list for tank! Let me know if you think what I'm doing here makes sense. :) https://www.notion.so/7349d025778340008d0f0c452dd06683?v=12e65891688c45faa12814b2cf59f07c
I like you, youre funny.
I've tried many different wrist rests and have wound up favoring this one. It offers the most anchoring of my wrist while also being able to use the very bottom of the mousepad. That allows my wrist to be anchored and not allowing any arm movements at all.
You're right, compared to most people I don't have to do much to do a full 360, but I dont move my hand that far while I play regardless. A quick 180 after I blink through someone is very simple though and I do it all the time.
I honestly had no idea it was insanely high. I thought this is the type of thing people meant by wrist aimers. It wasn't until recently that I was doing things like uncapping my fps and tinkering with micro things that would improve my gameplay that I noticed nobody really plays with sensitivity nearly this high.
The problem is that I've played this way for nearly 20 years when I got my first Razer Viper back in the early 2000s when I thought high dpi was the reason why it was called a gaming mouse. I just learned to play neopets, toontown, and diablo on very high dpi.
The issue is that I've learned I've been doing something very wrong for nearly 2 decades. While yes I'm considerably good at doing the wrong thing, I'm very worried I wont be able to correct it now.
Do y'alls hands and arms not get tired doing the same thing I'm doing in game for hours? That's a lot of movement, no?
What does that even mean? CSGO has "1 competitive mode" and a bunch of other casual ones, including thousands of community servers that stray as far as you can possibly get from the main competitive mode, and it's one of the best, if not the best competitive multiplayer game that's out right now.
If you go on the Overwatch website and look at the game overview, it's literally right there, "In Overwatch, you control one of several heroes in competitive 6-person team shooting matches". So yes, the game is being marketed as being a competitive game, and considering it has a relatively healthy E-Sport presence and community, one can absolutely expect the game to be balanced with competitive players in mind.
Honestly I dunno if ANYONE has posted this but try this
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/esports/open_division
It is an awesome division where you can find a team or post that your a free agent, exactly the next stepping stone for a person like you, me personally I'm still waiting to get to plat/diamond haha.
For those of you that don;t know what I'm talking about: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/hanzo/
Click on the icon for scatter arrow and you'll see him kill two targets with one scatter arrow by shooting at their feet. This page has been up since before the game went live.
Holy shit, trippy!! My B.NET name is ZILTOID, I'm almost exactly the same rank, AND I'm a tank main! So fucking weird.
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/career/pc/us/ZILTOID-11269 (I like flankers too, and my first game needed hitscan :3)
Wow thanks. Lots of little bits in here I was unaware of like seismic slam damage modifier based on distance, using seismic slam like a grappling hook, and the vertical interactions of meteor strike with buildings.
Edit: just noticed a small error in the guide, his ultimate is incorrectly called "meteor smash" instead of strike
https://lifehacker.com/how-to-stream-or-record-your-games-for-broadcast-online-1702860349
This article explains how to stream with OBS, and if you scroll down a bit it also explains how to record your gameplay to hard drive.
If you save your recording as .mkv files, this program might help you to cut away the 3 minutes of sitting in queue or the 20 minutes of deathmatch where you forgot to stop the recording:
https://github.com/mifi/lossless-cut/releases
Then you just need to upload that file to Youtube, either publicly or unlisted and post the link here once it's done uploading and processing.
It's only 1:1 at 51/38 for the first ~100 pixels of movement at 1920x1080 resolution. If it's too fast for you, play around with it. I prefer mine set 1:1 for ~300 pixels of motion. Was much easier for me, since I tend to make big flicks more often than little ones.
Here's the math and a great TL;DR
I use this to translate between Widow and Ashe:
It's always good to know multiple heroes to be more versatile player, especially if you play DPS.
The first one I'd recommend learning is Ashe, as it's an easy transition for a Widow player and has a bit different playstyle, so it works in some situations where Widow doesn't. Just remember to change your zoom sens to a value that matches your Widow zoom sens. The same value won't work because they have a different FOV. Here is a good calculator for Widow/Ana to Ashe sens.
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/oxdagztkcl
Set the zoom sensitivity for Widow that you're comfortable with and it'll give you a sensitivity for Ashe that corresponds. Don't know how reliable that calculator it so it might work, be in the ballpark and require manual adjustment, or be completely incorrect.
I'm currently dealing with this EXACT issue. I was using my gain a little higher than I used to, say 60% on the mic. Out of the blue people started to complain about my mic and now even when I turn it down it sounds bad according to other people. People say staticy and distorted to describe how I sound on Overwatch. Other apps like teams meatings, no issues.

used to worked brilliantly with no complaints for years. ONLY ON OVERWATCH :-( NOW I CAN'T MAKE SWEET SWEET CALL OUTS
Blizzard has said that the plan is to eventually merge the game clients as well. Maybe not at the launch of OW2, but eventually.
At that point, I'd expect there to just be one "Overwatch" entry in the BNET launcher.
Yes, despite your non-competitive MMR being popularly called "quick play MMR" both arcade and quick-play count towards your initial placements.
Evidence for why arcade counts: I made an alt account (UggoRetardo#1914) to test this where I played nothing but arcade (usually as characters I was awful at) until I could play competitive. My opponents in arcade became progressively harder as I continued winning, eventually reaching around diamond rating, on average. IIRC I got placed in gold, but was gaining a hundred points per win and got quickly hoisted to diamond.
I'm a winston/rein/roadhog main that was 1900 2 days before season 4 ended but ended 1200 due to RNG and getting a lot of troll players on my side (and I did play bad but 1/2th my matches did have trolls, 1/4th win, 1/4th I just didn't play well enough to win) and placed at 1000 and have climbed to 1400 if you wanna duo. I'm tired of being gold damage gold elims winston (it has happened)

MAP BALANCE CHANGES
General
Respawn Delay When attackers outnumber defenders while taking a control point on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps, the defenders’ respawn time will slowly increase until it hits a maximum value or the defense manages to gain the upper hand. Developer Comments: Until now, stalling an attack by repeatedly throwing yourself at the point has been a common defensive strategy on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps—even when the attackers have a decisive advantage. Typically, this tactic doesn’t change the outcome of battle; it simply delays the attackers’ progress.
Eichenwalde
A second gate no longer closes after the payload passes through the castle doors. Instead, rubble from the damaged doorway partially blocks the entrance. Developer Comments: Once the offensive team gets through the castle entrance, the map becomes very heavily stacked in the defense’s favor. This change will give the offense more entrance options, which should improve the map’s overall balance.
You are misinformed. Personal performance is a component of SR change.
> As you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.
Yes. "D.Va
Defense Matrix Enemy shots no longer need to travel a minimum distance before they can be blocked Developer Comments: Previously, there was a minimum distance a projectile had to travel before it could be destroyed by Defense Matrix. This made it nearly worthless in situations where an enemy was right next to your teammate, such as when Roadhog hooks your ally. This change removes that restriction so Defense Matrix should now reliably destroy projectiles regardless of how far they have traveled."
We will have to wait and see how things play out.
I agree that this may be a bad thing and that mid-high plat may be a clusterfuck of GMs and Masters players.
However, upon reading the entire Season 4 article from PlayOverwatch I understand what they are attempting and why. By lowering the skill decay threshold they are fine tuning the rank system. They said right in the post that it's attempting to reduce the amount of smurfs and make higher ranks harder to attain yet more meaningful as a result.
I think many people have been a bit spoiled and have been hitting play on the back of a win streak or with a friend that carries. They then begin to define themselves as a Plat or Masters player. This is mearly an attempt to weed out those who want that rank from those that truly deserve it.
Additionally, just because there may be more higher ranked players in your plat games doesn't mean it will be a nightmare for you. Sure you may get the odd game with 2-4 players that have placed GM before, but you will get those same 2-4 GM players in your games just as often.
Perhaps take this chance to better yourself and learn from the former Master/GMs

Couldn't type the whole thing in a comment as it was too big. I was only able to do Rialto as I don't have time currently to do Nepal. If you have any questions let me know!
Important to understand, along with this, is the "1:1" ratio produced by this method is only 1:1 for ~100 pixels of movement. Over that, the ratio slows down considerably. It's impossible to match a full 1:1 ratio across different FoV settings for the entire range of mouse motion. On a typical 1080p setup there are ~910 pixels between the center reticle and edge of screen, so these settings work well for small reticle movements. I prefer slightly higher values, since I tend to make wider movements when scoped out. I prefer a 1:1 ratio at ~300 pixels of motion. I like this tool for getting Ashe and Widow/Ana settings synced:
Ashes “scope” isn’t as far as widows. So what happens is the movement you make when scopes on widow doesn’t directly compare to Ashe. I used this tool to adjust my Ashes scoped sensitivity to be the same as widows scoped. It helped a ton for me to transition to playing Ashe.
3 common causes of your mouse not being able to register if it's moved too quickly across a mousepad:
1) The mousepad itself. Try your mouse on a variety of surfaces to make sure the issue persists.
2) Low fps. Make sure you're playing with fps >120 at the very least. If you need to lower your video settings, it's definitely worth doing.
3) Low polling rate on your mouse. If your polling rate is < 500 hz, there's no way around the issue, aside from increasing your sensitivity so that you won't need to slide your mouse as fast anymore.
You can check your polling rate with a very simple, lightweight tool: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Mouse-Rate-Checker.shtml
If your polling rate is indeed < 500 hz, check to see if your mouse has a customizable polling rate. I know that on my mouse (Zowie FK1), i just have to hold down a button as i plug it in. With a low polling rate, quick slides will never register.
Use this to check your poll rate: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Mouse-Rate-Checker.shtml#download
But yeah, if your poll rate is already 500~1000, then it's probably just an issue if you trying to 180 too early

True but in this scenario the Sym will have her ult first if the healer was mercy or zen. I made a graph where you can compare different damage rates/heroes against the healers(excluding Brig since there is no ult charge info I could find on her.) https://www.desmos.com/calculator/gimwalfoxc
Oerwatch has a 400 framerate limit, so how did you get the framerate limiter above 400? Very cool. Also can you share any websites or tips for a newb on how to optimize my RAM?

I assume that you have some top of the line hardware and you know how to OC the shit out of your system. Therefore, I think your video mostly proves my point. You regularly dropped into the 420s as low as 400 even (without anyone ulting) and thats with everything tweaked to all hell. Not only that but in a map, say Lijang tower, with people all using their ults, you would surely drop into the 300s.
Some of these give away had basically no limit. When the Gladiators did theirs you could get a key basically every 10 minutes.
Here's what you had to do. It was all automated and stayed up for days.
Thanks again for your advice. I ended up finding software that remaps the joystick to KB inputs. https://joytokey.net/en/ . I've just tested it for a few minutes but it does the job and I can now strafe like a KB while still using my controller. Best solution for my situation.
Windows has a built-in application called Task Manager. It allows you to track CPU usage and see which processes are using the most resources, CPU/memory/etc.
Techpowerup's GPU-z (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/) is a similar program but for GPU usage.
Using both, you can figure out exactly where your bottleneck is. Run both programs in the background and then after a bit of gaming, alt tab and look at the charts. If the GPU usage is constantly at like 90-100%, then you're GPU bottlenecked. If the CPU usage is constantly at like 90-100%, then you're CPU bottlenecked.
Though note that if you have a lot of CPU cores, not every game is well multi-threaded. i.e. a game might only really utilize 4 cores, for example. For this case you should not look at the overall CPU usage, but instead look at each CPU core and deduce whether you may be CPU bottlenecked this way.
