Order a joycon repair kit off Amazon
Used this one myself, no complaints.

My recommendation would be to purchase a Ethernet Cable adapter for your switch. When I play on wifi, smash is literally unplayable. However with a wired connection I’ve had zero issues yet.

> This bricked my Nintendo Switch. Please be careful when buying this. I'm currently talking to Nintendo about replacement or service but I had no idea this could happen.
Review found from the previously posted Amazon link.
You can with something like this
While I can't speak for your BF, I have a PS4 and the Nintendo Pro Controller is hands down my favorite controller.
There is this great thing that was popular on reddit when the switch had been out for a while, it was like an arm you mount to your bed or nightstand, with a movable part, that could hold the switch.
Here is the one I am planning on buying:
Tryone Gooseneck Tablet Stand, Tablet Mount Holder for iPad iPhone Series/Nintendo Switch/Samsung Galaxy Tabs/Amazon Kindle Fire HD and More, 30in Overall Length(Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AUQ33LG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wBZPBbE9C7JCJ
I mean, it's just a stylized rotated E. The company's name is HomeSpot. So, no downvoters, it's not Homuspot.
This just happened to my son 2 weeks ago. Had to order new stick from Amazon which I see you did. It's an easy fix, took me about an hour. Make sure you have the proper tool kit for the job though.
You're going to need a tri wing screwdriver set. Here is one. Can find another on Amazon, but it needs at the very least a tri wing, Philips, and a pair of tweezers. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WHQCM6M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_28PC416FTQJ3TA0VESDW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Here is the video I used. Best one I found. https://youtu.be/uz-6ZpOB9f0
Have fun!
i bought this last year and it’s done wonders for me. it’s not super small, maybe 12x12x6, but they do have a medium size that looks like it’s designed to hold a pro controller
To all the comments regarding the 3rd person dock. I have found a solution. You can actually buy a slimmer case to house the internals from your original dock.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073S667M6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3LGWXGPRTIF38&psc=1
I play purely in handheld mode (don't even have my dock set up anymore). This grip makes playing for longer periods a lot more comfortable. I love it.

I downloaded the file and looked at how much I'd charge for it, and you probably don't want to pay that much. This comes to $19.90 + shipping (usually like $5 in the US). Seems kind of pricy when you can probably go buy a commercial product for $15-20. Then again, is something like this available?
Edit: here's a similar one on Amazon that also charges your Joy Con. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07MXDZHVZ
While I wouldn't mind printing this for myself as it would be MUCH cheaper, that isn't the case when buying from someone who prints it for you. I don't consider wear and tear on my machine, maintenance, and setup/breakdown time when printing for myself. I do when printing a commission. Something else to consider is that those strap clips are very thin, and prone to breaking if not handled gently.
I got you Portable Monitor - Upgraded 15.6" USB-C Computer Monitor, 1080P Full HD IPS Panel, Ultra-Slim HDR Gaming Monitor, Stereo Speakers, OSD Menu, Type-C & HDMI Ports for PC Laptop Phone PS4 Xbox https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086SPCFP7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_G09-FbYA5EHWM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I got them both on amazon. The yellow ones are these:

SanDisk Ultra 128GB SD Card ($18.45)
This should be enough to satisfy your needs for a bit if you are just starting out or need a small upgrade. If you want me to find a bigger or smaller size one then just ask away! I will be here for any questions you may have!
Take care
It's the basic stock "official" Nintendo switch case and it is very nice.

I ended up preferring the Amazon Basics version as it was slightly smaller and the handle on the official one annoyed me.
It’s a shell from eXtremeRate on Amazon. It actually wasnt hard to do either!
Shell: Nintendo Switch Lite (White) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08G1341ZB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_JFDSAYQTRKB1SQPCWPZC?psc=1
Neither. The 8bitdo sf30 is the bees knees.
Some edits to answer questions in comments:
That's overpriced.
Can get the same thing from Amazon for $40
Tryone Gooseneck Tablet Stand, Tablet Mount Holder for iPad iPhone Series/Nintendo Switch/Samsung Galaxy Tabs/Amazon Kindle Fire HD and more, 30in Overall Length(Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AUQ33LG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NaehBbS5Z4SVQ
This is what I found?
Give up 100gb and spend 1/3 the money. This is the one I have in my lite and it’s been great so far:
SanDisk 400GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 100MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-400G-GN6MA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RNRM2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_whOxFbGQAMWQV
Start with sperate Joycons, if they work in the relevant games, buy a pair of joycon grips. If you want two full fledged controllers, tho, the Pro controller is worth the asking price, BUT there are countless cheaper alternatives that also do the trick.
I would message Nintendo support they might replace it for you if you send it in. Otherwise you can purchase this kit which is pretty affordable.
I bought that exact kit to replace my joycon drift and it was fairly easy enough. There are steps in the pictures of if you just youtube "Replace switch joycon" there are many videos that walk you through it. You can open it up and replace it with in an hour.
Many of the adapters include a USB A to USB C adapter so you can use it while docked. Just be sure to read the description carefully.
I have this one, which came with such an adapter.
I mean you can find game and accessory suggestions everywhere on the internet. However, the one I don't see talked about enough, are the Skull & Co. thumb stick adaptors. They're much better than the generic thumbstick grips and they come in 3 different styles in the same package. I hate using the Switch sticks without them now. They make movement and navigation feel so much better!
this case is about an inch thinner than the RDS industries case that is sold at target for $20. i have both and while the amazon one is really thin and cheap, its feels pretty cheap, but it's low-key and thin

Not if you do it right.
Not sure if this is allowed but here is an Amazon link to the glass protector that I have. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3ASPNV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_Z1EhAbRY2ZRJ5
It was easy to install. It came with all the necessary materials to ensure the screen is clean prior to installation. It also has two protectors in the pack so is a very nice deal.
Just take your time doing the installation. Make sure you follow the instructions. Like doing it in a bathroom after running the hot shower for a few minutes. The high humidity prevents dust from floating in the air as well.
Sure just a warning it may pop up as $50 but just make sure you have a prime Account for Amazon if not you can just make one and use the 1 month free trial.

There are cell phone magnifier screens. It's a fresnel lens sheet.
Something like this
That's just the first to pop up on amazon for me. I'm sure something like that could be adapted or there might be one specific to the Switch Lite
Warframe does not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for online play, according to Digital Extremes, Warframe's publisher, and members of the Warframe subreddit.
I've never played Shovel Knight or Binding of Isaac, but Cave Story is a great game, and definitely worth experiencing on whatever platform is most convenient for you. (The original PC version is available for free.)
I bought these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0882SJ9H3
Worked like a charm if you feel confident on working on small electronics. The thumbstick is a tad stiffer, but that might actually be more to your liking.
I have this & love it! You can use the straps just fine. Can’t fit the joycons into the comfort grip with the case on tho obviously
They’re great, comfortable and I feel like it’s improved my aim in games if that makes sense. I got them with the rubber protector I bought off Amazon for £13. Here is the link :

Mumba Dockable Case for Nintendo... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WMQ62FN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share is the case. It is a bit snug and you have to make sure you press down enough into the dock or else the tv will turn off as your playing mid game as it may slowly rise a bit. But overall haven’t had too many problems with that once I got the hang of it. I actually like it snug because because it stays in the dock upside down so if the dock ever falls say 3ft or so it will will probably help minimize damage to switch. My only concern is if it traps in too much heat and if the switch might overheat a little if I play for hours omens on an resource-intensive game. But the grip of the case feels comfortable in my hands when playing portable mode
For Joycon? You probably need to replace the ribbon cable button assembly. It should be a cheap part but you will need to carefully disassemble the joycon.

Well I was actually leaning toward this style of grip/console controller Hori Split Pad Pro.
But I think on the side I’m gonna get one of the diy shell replacement kits because they’re pretty dope
This is the one I use.
The keys to pay attention to (if you don't get this one) are latency and obviously if it has an adapter. This one does and has very low latency.
It also comes in a ton of colors.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L9SL7ZT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_0U0aGbP7HAJNR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
There are splitters that split the audio out of hdmi. You plug the hdmi from the switch into one side of the box and there is an hdmi and audio outs on the other side. I have this same set up at home (switch hooked up to a computer monitor and Logitech speakers). This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XDNJ6RM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_HcmAmeADHKgnd
It has a stereo audio out, which works for me. I'm sure you can find one with just an aux out. Or at worst you can daisy chain on a stereo to audio adapter.
I picked up this 200 GB Micro SD card on Amazon and it's been working great! Best bang for your buck.
PDP has some kits with some cheap accessories. It includes a case as well, this all costs around 30 bucks (USD) Nyko has a accessory known as "Clip Grip Power". It's the Joycon grip with a 3000 mAh power bank inside, and a phone stand for the Nintendo Switch Online App. I have one and it's really good, especially if you don't already own a power bank for your switch. This was 25 bucks. Very good price compared to the charging grip by Nintendo. Split Joycon grips are available for less than 15 bucks, I have a pair (I forget what brand, but most look the same) and they work great. Back to Nyko, they said they are going to make a portable dock that is essentially the same one as the official dock. Here's a amazon link; go to nyko.com for a gamestop release date. https://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Portable-Docking-Kit-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B071X7C1B4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501733668&sr=8-1&keywords=743840872252 As of now, this is supposed to be 50 bucks. HORI recently made a controller which is cheaper than the pro controller, with a few drawbacks, like it's wired, no gyroscope or NFC reader, and so on. I don't own one; but it's 30 bucks. It seems like a good controller.
Honestly, cases will be on your taste. Some are too big (like that game traveler deluxe case; jeez that's huge.) Some offer too little. You decide. I just stuck with a basic BoTW case with 14 game cards for the future.
I bought my Switch second-hand and it came with the case, so I don't know exactly what case it is. This is the closet I found on Amazon.
I use the Kontrol Freek joycon nub on the left and the Skull & Co. stack on the right. It's perfect for me, a little extra height on the right stick & more width on the left. Both are solid quality. The only problem with the Kontrol Freek cap is that it blocks the B button somewhat on the right joycon, which is not a problem on the left. I bought the Kontrol Freeks via their website, and the Skull & Co. on Amazon.

I know you want one with room for the charger, but I'll plug the Amazon Basics one anyways. It ticks all your other needs, and it is very cheap. I got it as an add-on for only ~$4. Very solid construction, has a sleeve for games, and holds the system w/ attached joycons snugly.
Mario Kart supports one Joycon per play, so you won't have issues. I find the Joycons slightly uncomfortable for long play sessions, but that probably won't be an issue with Mario Kart. You can also consider getting the driving wheel addons if you enjoy that.
The Nintendo branded large case seems like it would hold all this, look at the customer images on Amazon. I see photos with 2 controllers and I don't see why the GC controllers wouldn't fit if pro/grip controllers fit fine.
I have a Visa card, but I don't think it will be different in term of billing address not matching issue. The guaranteed method will be buying digital codes from Amazon for e.g. Nintendo eShop $50 Gift Card https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U6DTGP6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ANwdCbC4TJ19F
It's weird that PayPal doesn't support Lebanon. Then how come those Lebanese are selling stuff on Ebay?
forget the brick, just get a power bank and a usb cord.

you only have ~5 hours of battery on a.. 8-10-12 hour flight?

no experience with it, but amazon ships a handheld only charger.. DOES NOT WORK WITH DOCK.
$15 USD.. have it shipped to your hotel or whatever.

"UK switch to the US and charged it?"
I don't think the console itself has anything to do with it.. all the "magic" is in the brick.

Tempered glass and oleophobic coating. I got these from amazon and like them.

Yes, I have used the usbC to charge the base system with a standard usb charger as well as the controllers. Should be good to go.
For more specifics, check the usb charger base you are using for the Voltage and Amps. It’s in lighter writing on the base. Here is what Nintendo recommends:
Switch AC Adapter for both pro controller and switch: Input: 100 – 240 V 50/60 Hz 1 A Found here: AC Adapter on Amazon
As long as the base is 100-240V 50/60 1A you are good to go. Most standard iPhone chargers are this. The square ones.
You should be able to just use a plug adapter and keep the same charger. It’s the same voltage and frequency. The USA charger supports 220v/50hz and worker for me overseas even though we use 120v 60hz. If you read the side of it you should see input is 110-220v 50-60hz. Meaning it is an international charger that just needs a prong adapter
Just search for a UK retailer online for something like what I link below on Amazon US:
Ceptics UK, Hong Kong, Ireland, UAE Travel Plug Adapter (Type G) - 3 Pack [Grounded & Universal] (GP-7-3PK) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0080R95XI/
Probably from Amazon
Yes that happens to me too. Well there are online kits that can help you replace the latches with metal ones. But if you dont want to hurt your switch while trying to fix it, bring the kit and the joy cons to someone who knows what they are doing and ask them to do it for you.

You can also go to a GameSpot and ask.
Have you tried the official Gamecube controller adapter?

It’s very nice, here’s the amazon link
Nice, I got a knockoff-ish one on amazon for like $30. I facking love it. Zadii on Amazon
The grip thing is a game changer for me, I hardly ever play it docked and it kills my hands to hold it for too long without the grip
You might be better off just buying a switch lite charging dock instead of an actual switch dock
Amazon has a ton of them for pretty cheap like this one
If you go this route (or on any small electronics repair) make sure to get a set of small screwdrivers. Can get them at Home Dept, Lowe’s, Walmart, harbor freight, etc. (6Pcs Precision Screwdrivers, Non-slip and Long Rotatable Handle Flathead and Cross Screwdrivers, Magnetic Screwdrivers Professional Repair Tool for Phone, PC, Watch, Jewelry, Eyeglass https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078SMXRTM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Qy8HCbSVDE9MG)
They come in very handy if you’re inclined to work on your own stuff.
Must haves:
-Tempered screen protector
-Big microSD: I went 256gb Samsung, highest class
-Grip Case with game holder than can charge in the dock too
-Hard travel case--bonus that I was able to make that grip case fit on the leather Zelda zip case
Optionals:
-backup dock (only buy an official alternative)
-backup charger for car and/or bedroom
-a wireless controller (doesn't have to be a pro) and some rechargeable batteries

This one works. Google for 'nintendo switch usb c hdmi dongle'.
You need a dongle that uses a certain chipset, so do some googling to find one that works with the switch.
The above one is confirmed to work for the switch though. The switch also needs to get power in order to go into TV mode, so find one with multiple connectors, like the one above.
Yeah just search for something like "Nintendo eShop Gift Card [Digital Code]"
Amazon, for instance: https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-eShop-Gift-Card-Digital/dp/B01LYOCVZF
Just make sure the eshop currency matches the region his account is set to.
I have this one. Well reviewed, works really well with Switch and numerous other devices and comes with carry pouch. Takes a while to charge the power bank but lasts ages and enables me to extend game time considerably on an original switch.

There is the link !
RREAKA portable Switch dock on Amazon.
This is neat for travel! AFAIK, it looks like it includes an HDMI cable? Doubles up as input for Game Cube controller, and output for Samsung Android devices.
After getting a Steam Deck I’m convinced the HORI Pro is supposed to be amazing. I love my Tomtoc case for the Switch and see they have one for the HORI Pro

Another case as well…
https://www.amazon.com/Hori-Split-Pad-Pro-Case/dp/B095LL6QT4
Haven’t played my switch since I got the SteamDeck but I think I may need to upgrade the controls when to go back to play some switch games!

Is this what you mean? Apologizes for the long link.
I use the Hori split pad pro and currently use this case here. It has 20 cartridge holders and a soft fabric to protect the screen. As well it also is a hard case so it will protect it from dropping it. It is a good alternative if you can't find that other case you are looking for.
The A2 I hear is better for speed maybe? I got two Samsung 512gb for $44.99 on Amazon sale still.
https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-Adapter-microSDXC-MB-ME512KA-AM/dp/B09B1HMJ9Z
I also got a 1tb for I think $117 on sale. Now it might be $149-220…?
Joycons are known for drifting issues. Nintendo gives free repair when Joycons start to drift.
Anyway, they're very fragile for me. When I get to play beaten'ups or fighting games, where I do need to mash buttons, I do use a hori fighting controller.
Link below has a picture to help in identification:
https://www.amazon.com.br/Nintendo-Fighting-Commander-Officially-Licensed/dp/B08894XP8C
I would recommend buying this https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Touch-Pen-Japan/dp/B07YL4KGWZ or finding anything similar to it. I've tried using Samsung's stylus and the tips are too thin. Even my drawing tablet's pen does not register. Both tested with increased sensitivity.
Or you can just makeshift one your own
It's been such a long time, I don't remember how I resolved it exactly. It might have been the TV settings on the Switch, setting RGB Range to "Full Range."
If not that, I've been sending my Switch through an HDMI switcher before it gets to the receiver, because I have more consoles than available inputs. That might be doing something to the signal along the way, though I'm not sure what. This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00264NZWS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Let me know if you make any progress! If the RGB thing doesn't work I'll try digging around to see if I can figure out what else I tried.
Nintendo sells refurbished docks for 40. I might go that route if you can afford it. If not, I've used a dock like this (not sure if it's the right brand) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083R5NRH4?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_C4QCF65BNDA29A9RDNP9

This is what I used for a portable dock, just brought the charging cable from my Switch and it works perfectly.
The split pad pro is a game changer, especially if you don't have tiny hands. Only downside is no gyro, but that affects very few things.
ya, i think i found it
https://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-Nintendo-Switch-Wireless-Controller-500-137/dp/B07VFCJHFQ
if it's the same, then it's wireless. go to "change grip/order" then you press and hold the small button on top
I realized when I read the description on her packaging. For Nintendo Switch Pro controller. They're a little wider and slip off the Switch/Switch Lite joycons pretty easily as you described.

Best ones I've ever used ^
SD card is suggested for sure, every once in a while you find a STEAL on the Nintendo store so you buy digitally. I got 2k21 a while back for something like $3. Plus you can get a really good size card for a reasonable price, check this link out on amazon- https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-128GB-Ultra-UHS-I-Memory/dp/B08GY61ZZN/ref=sr_1_9?crid=4RKIHQZ0QC96&keywords=sd+card+128gb&nav_sdd=aps&qid=1666732775&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI0Ljg0IiwicXNhIjoiNC42OCIsInFzcCI6IjQuNTEifQ%3D%3D&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A13203834011&rnid=6518301011&s=pc&sprefix=sd+card+128&sr=1-9
It's 25% off right now!!
I didn't know of any until the other day when I took apart my third party controller apart because the bumper broke. Low and behold a hall effect switch was in there. It's this one exactly that I got:
Sorry about the link gore.
yeah these specific ones are called “gradient translucent bluebell”. link right here for anyone who’s curious!
There is one from HORI on Amazon but I think it’s a bit pricey.
I have a 4 way joycon stand charger as our switch is mainly in the dock for the TV so all controllers are fully charged at all times.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/PowerA-Charging-Station-Nintendo-Controllers/dp/B01MR6JD1M
This is what (Not the exact one but you get the idea) i have. It plugs in to the USB port on the dock and the dock is plugged in at the wall so it's charging at all times regardless if the switch is in it or not.
The only gripe i have with both the switch, dock and charger is they're way to tall to sit infront of the TV without blocking the screen view so i have to place them behind the TV which makes it awkward to get to. If the switch could be laid down flat and the controllers had a magnet that attached them to a charger that would be one hell of a QL update.

If you wanted, this is the portable dock I used. All the issues I've heard of 3rd party docks messing with the switch have more to do with not using the official power source.
