FYI EA’s Origin has all the C&C games in one collection (except C&C4) for about $10, no need to overpay for single games on Steam.
Almost everyone is going to tell you Red Alert two. I personally like Tiberian Sun a lot better.
If you don't have it, you can get Every Command and Conquer Game ever made (All 17) for only $20 on origin. Some games may require some files to be tweaked a bit depending on your OS.
Well, the OpenRA Project has successfully recreated (and, in some cases, improved on) the first two Command & Conquer games, as well as Dune 2000.
The only other possibility I can think of offhand is Warzone 2100; it is, however, more complicated in some respects.
For one thing most of the missions in WZ2100 are timed, with a few exceptions (such as the very first mission you play).
Also, you don't automatically unlock upgrades and new unit types as you play the game; you have to recover Artifacts, which unlock research projects in your labs, and you actually have to create your own unit designs before you can build them. (Unit design is a relatively simple process, though: you pick a body, a propulsion system, and a turret, give the unit a name, and bam - it's ready for production.)
Finally, the veterancy system in WZ2100 is kind of interesting: if you recycle a unit that's achieved any rank above green, the next unit you build will gain the recycled unit's veterancy bonuses. (Very useful if, say, you're scrapping a bunch of lightly-armored vehicles so you can build ones with heavier armor.)
You don't need to miss it. Myself and heaps of others still play these games. They're great!
Or here
Really? It even goes into details like the cannon is on the other side (though wrong side it seems) https://www.moddb.com/members/stingerr/images/tiberian-sun-titan1
The Ultimate Collection on Origin - the only legitimate source for Windows apart from buying used boxed copies. The Mac got a re-release on the Mac App Store a year ago as well.
KW is an expansion pack for TW, so you'll need TW regardless. But really, you can just go to Origin and pick up the entire series for $20.
There is this: https://www.moddb.com/mods/tiberian-sun-rising/images
These sort of total conversion mods seem to never get finished. On the plus side, though, this one seems like it's still making good progress!
The older ones are not for sale individually on origin. But the ultimate collection is on sale for 10$ rite now. it includes RA2 along with every c&c game released. A great deal. For some reason they still sell the newer ones for 20$ each but the ultimate collection is a great deal for 9 games.
I haven't played this game in a long time, these must be newer units, I haven't seen them before. It's a good game, it's on sale right now on Steam. It was originally an Android game:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.corrodinggames.rts
https://store.steampowered.com/app/647960/Rusted_Warfare__RTS/
Map for the WIP mod Red Alert .5, https://www.moddb.com/mods/red-alert-5

It doesn't actually show a specific time. The Italo-Greek War (against Allies and Axis), Pacific War (between United Front, Co-Prosperity Sphere and Comintern) and Basserabian Conflict (between Comintern and Intermarium) happens at different times, but all those events are between 1936 and beginning of Red Alert 1.
..or just post the original (non-potato) version?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCszhK2MHgQ
It's a trailer for the following RA3 mod: https://www.moddb.com/mods/command-and-conquer-generals-evolution
A. The First Decade is not available on Origin, that would be the Ultimate Collection which includes RA3.
B. If you simply want higher res (seeing more of the battlefield) in RA1 grab this: https://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/ it includes a config tool with a bunch of settings for actual ingame res and image scaling.
C. Pretty much every C&C game have a bunch of mods. Some of the largest are for TS, YR, ZH and C&C3.
D. YR has a RA1 mod called It Came from Red Alert! https://www.moddb.com/mods/it-came-from-red-alert
The only difference is the install patch. Most mods are defaulted to origin though but that's a simple change. That being said command and conquer 3 with Kane's wrath is 14.99 on origin BUT the entire command and conquer lineup is only $20. THATS a lot of game for how much your paying. Even if you don't play them all it's probably worth it for the extra $5.
It looks like downloading this file (http://tore.cnc-comm.com/TS_Win8fix.zip) and extracting the files to your Tiberian Sun directory will fix the problems.
Source: http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/index.php/topic/26975-running-tiberian-sun-on-windows-8/
The origin version wont work right out of the box, but there are ways to make it work online. I have a group of five friends that play C&C Generals Zero Hour together over GameRanger. It isn't the original intended way, but since GameSpy went down it's all we have. We don't usually have trouble with lag or connecting.
As for windows 10, I tried it on my brother's computer and it seems to work. I wont be upgrading though.
Also, if you want a more balanced experience, look into getting both of you the 1.06 Community update. Just know that you wont be able to play with anyone who doesn't have the 1.06 update, which shouldn't be a problem unless you look for random matches.
There is the infamous Mental Omega total conversion mod that is very well received: https://www.moddb.com/mods/mental-omega
Another good choice is the RED-RESURRECTION mod which I believe is fully compatible with the basic campaign: https://www.moddb.com/mods/yr-red-resurrection
For me i would take Tiberium wars.It has really detailed story and challenge campaign.Their skirmish isn't bad either and they also has some interesting mod for them like tiberium essense.
Now imagine being a community member of Cold War Crisis and getting this gifted via a giveaway.
Your beloved series.
Getting it gifted.
And literally feeling to ashamed to properly play it after 20 hours.
There's an open-source CnC remake http://www.openra.net/ you might want to look into.
It's only really multiplayer though, but luckily for you, Tiberian Sun is freeware, and you might be able to find a mod that allows it to run on linux if you really want to play the campaign.
So seeing as how much you enjoyed C&C3 I feel like it would be remiss of us the community to not point you in the direction of some of the fantastic mods that exist for it.
http://theforgotten.cnclabs.com
Adds a fourth faction to the game, the forgotten and gives them their own, albeit short, campaign complete with cutscenes between missions.
Another one to look at is:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/tiberium-essence
Sort of completely reworks all of the factions the factions units and also has their own fourth faction, another interpretation of the forgotten, and the new units all work with the original C&C 3 campaign.
I know people hate Origin, but you'll get a better deal there. They have all the CnC games for $20 US.
I am the maker of one of Kane's Wrath biggest Mods (called One Vision). I have had deep insights into the XML code of your game and I cannot help but to wonder: WTF happened? xD
A lot of content was either cut or rearranged. Some examples:
Repair APC for ZOCOM (instead Steel Talons)
Improved shatterers for Steel Talons
The Black Hand Mantis was called "Tank Tank"
A cut upgrade for Marked of Kane Fanaticsto disguise them as militants
or a cut "turbo boost" ability for Reckoners.
Black Hand Venoms which can be upgraded with Particle Beams
Can you give some insights into the creative process behind Kane's Wrath? It seems you were having difficulties and changed many aspects while working on the game. Was this because of your cooperation with the external studio or were you struggling to find the content for all factions?
Would love it if you could check out my mod! I've been working 5 years on it: https://www.moddb.com/mods/cnc3-kw-one-vision
You can get it on origin. As it's from EA, they don't put it on Steam.
http://www.mmoga.com/EA-Games/Command-Conquer-The-Ultimate-Collection.html
To the original poster, and the other guys reading this....
You guys are welcome to use my mod as a basis for a new RTS game: https://www.moddb.com/mods/cc3-tacitus-revolution
I had put a lot of decent but great ideas there. The source code reveals my proposed huge manual planout.
Yep, buy Command and Conquer The Ultimate Collection, it comes with everything.
Hello WickedDogs, good to see you here! so for windows 8.1 most of the games require the fixed launchers. Download it here. it has its own installer and patches the executable of the games you have installed. let me know if you have any other issues!
you could try using wine to play it from cncnet. I don't have a Mac so I'm not to sure exactly how to make work. But if you're willing to wait a while longer it is going to eventually be a part of openRA! And it should run fine on a Mac without having to get third party programs.
I've found that the free version of GameRanger is a decent solution. It works with mods too. Right now I'm using it with the Ultimate Collection (Generals, Zero Hour, red Alert 3, Red Alert 2, Tiberium wars, and Kanes wrath installed) and I'm seeing at least several hundred online sessions. I usually play online with my friend, but will occasionally join other peoples' games as well. There are a lot of players located outside of the U.S. that play in the servers too, but communication shouldn't be too much of an issue.
The only problem I've had is transferring custom maps, but I don't think that's a GameRanger issue.
Otherwise, if you don't want GameRanger and want to play the Zero Hour mod Rise of the Reds, SWR.net has their own online servers that work with the mod by default.
There is an AI mod but I have never tried it out so I can't tell you how good it is.
They did rebalance the game after launch to make the multiplayer more balanced. However, the new balance was never applied to the AI which broke some missions.
https://www.moddb.com/games/cc-gold/addons/huge-cc1-mappacks-treasure
I believe it was this one but there are quite a few floating around. All I did was download the freeware Mac version of tib dawn. Then I just dragged the zip file into the missions folder within the files of tib dawn. When you start the game and press New missions they are all listed underneath the covert ops missions. Some of the missions are actually great some are way too easy though starting you off with a mega base.
Well, to be fair, I made a proof of concept of actually making the internal data in C&C1 ini-based... and that was by editing bytes. (The 1.06 patch reads its music list from an ini file). So it shouldn't actually be too hard to build such a system into the game....
I looked it up and found some curious things. Apparently at one time there was two year expiration limit, but they've apparently changed it. Check this out (from over three years ago.)
But then there's this updated one.
Those terms aren't even in the TOS anymore, so I don't know if it's relevant. You said you reinstalled it but it didn't work due to the key being used? If you have the will to risk whatever unholy punishment talking to EA customer support, that's the only thing I can think of unless you did what I did and somehow ended up with two EA accounts (one of which has everything, while the other is completely blank.)
https://www.moddb.com/mods/tiberian-sun-client <-- this is what you need. Compatibility, different renderers, sleek client, hd resolution, many bugfixes. And yeah, you completely don't need Origins tibsun as it was released for free at some anniversary, along with TD and RA1.
my understanding is the legit way is to buy this: https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/c-c-the-ultimate-collection/pc-download/bundle/standard-edition
and then do all kind of haxapatches to get it to work to play online.
basically EA hates us.
You can get it on Origin with several other C&C games
or
you can get it on Steam but it's a better deal to get it on Origin.
I'm not sure if Zenothist can join me tomorrow, so I'll advertise this as a solo-stream on http://www.twitch.tv/pauljongejans. So join me tomorrow, June 18th at 18:00 GMT for the usual wednesday stream of Mental Omega. Countdown to the stream: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?p0=1440&iso=20140618T18&msg=Mental+Omega+Stream
Hope to see you all then!
Which version did you download? There's just the game, the first decade and the ultimate collection. Each has its own quarks to make it work. If it's through origin be sure to turn off the origin overlay. Next up grab the fixed launchers from here: http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/index.php/topic/26695-fixed-launchers-for-the-ultimate-collection/ lastly try running in compatibility mode. One of these things should fix it. Let me know if it works!
Glad you fixed it! If any more of them give you trouble be sure to get the fixed launchers for them. They are nearly mandatory for windows 8.1. Origin overlay also tends to sink games FPS even with a high end PC. It's always recommended to leave it off unless you play online. It was causing bad stuttering for me on dragon age origins.
Some games work out of the box, some might need 3rd party patches. Make sure to use the fixed launchers before patching.
It's kinda sad since they were about to push out an update that would fix one of my major problems with the game. That was how moving/pathfinding worked together with that there was no way to crush enemy soldiers or small tanks(with larger tanks).
C&C, RA1 and Dune2K have all been ported to the OpenRA engine. It doesn't have all the campaign levels, I think only the Harkonnen campaign is complete, but each game has a pretty multiplayer. Could be worth a look. Works great on Mac, though read the download page, I think you need to install Mono first.
If you boot the game and your mouse beachballs, just leave it, it's actually doing stuff, I think it has to do this the first time and shouldn't need to do it again. Just give it a few minutes, don't close it, it shouldn't happen again if you let it hang once.
You can use this:
http://nyerguds.arsaneus-design.com/cnc95upd/cc95p106/
It's a trusted mod and is offered in a variety of forms, one of which includes the ISO's of C&C 95 since EA released them for free.
There is also: http://www.openra.net/ But unfortunately you can't play the campaign on it, but it's a great mod for RA, C&C 95 and Dune 2000. (unless someone figured out how, let me know too!)
You're going to have a bad time trying to play Generals in high resolutions though.
If it's the original you can always get openRA http://www.openra.net its a free remake of the first 3 originals. It's completley user made and is rebuilt from the ground up. Plays and looks much better then the originals. Also with extra content. And best of all it adds a skirmish mode to the original. But if you really want to play the old one there is a color fix by tweaking the ini file. I could find that for you?
If you are wanting to play anying older then red alert 2 I'd highly recommend openRA. its updates all the older games and adds a new functionality like skirmish mode for the original c&c. It's completley free too! Also /r/openRA
there are a lot of mods that feature the Kodiak. The mod I used was the Tacitus revolution mod. here is the https://www.moddb.com/mods/cc3-tacitus-revolution
If you're willing to "downgrade" to the base RA2 -> https://www.moddb.com/mods/scorched-earth-ra2-mod-with-smart-ai
Scorched Earth is still basically RA2 in all the ways that count, it's not some sci-fi adventure story with crazy units and supernatural heroes, just warfare.
I'm curious how you two would feel playing: https://www.moddb.com/mods/scorched-earth-ra2-mod-with-smart-ai
Even with superweapons off (recommended) which disables nukes and weather storms, you still have the curtain and chrono to deal with, which are easily countered in most cases, but you still have aircraft, paratroopers, parabombs and even longer range missiles to deal with. I've made turtling nearly impossible, especially where stolen techs or captured tech structures unlock even deadlier units.
The longer the game goes the less balanced a fight should be, and all but guarantees someone wins decisively.
If you want to play solo, I have a mod designed in large part for that for RA2: https://www.moddb.com/mods/scorched-earth-ra2-mod-with-smart-ai
There's over 60 maps, many of them urban with a lot more variety than the vanilla game, not just impressive to look at but tactically interesting. The AI will kick your ass if you aren't careful and bold, so with that in mind there's SE specific maps ranging from 2 to 5 players, to make life difficult and rewarding :)
I focused on expanding the urban theater because I always loved RTS battles where the environment could be used to your advantage...
Heres one for Kanes Wrath: https://www.moddb.com/mods/kanes-wrath-classic Theres a few different versions too, including one that leaves the balance as is but restores the economy and build space.
Unfortunately I havent found one for CnC 3 yet, and I dunno if theres a practical way to downgrade non disc copies.
Definitely try making sure it's original. The Destructive Forces mod contains an original of the Scripts folder to restore. Here's the link. Maybe try downloading that and replacing the current scripts folder with it. There are 3 files in there, the installer, readme, and the original Scripts folder.
In the comments for that video it says Zero Hour Destructive Force is the mod: https://www.moddb.com/mods/destructive-forces
Is this right? On the page there's a pic of a really huge nuke, so looks promising
I'm sure there's other solutions, as PlayOnMac is just an easier way of using WINE, but it's the one I know of. I can't say 100% whether Remastered works without tweaking, but I'd assume it will mostly work.
There's also VirtualBox, which is effectively the same as VMware and Parallels, but free.
https://www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store that's what I used, on my win 10 PC, works great. For ra2/yr I had to download a patch, I used the cncnet one, and it works fine. I haven't had to download the patch for any of the other games
Yes, it's definitely worth it! I play it literally every day lol even though it doesnt work anymore on Mac. If you're on mac just get bootcamp and download windows, totally worth it if you love C&C. You can buy the entire collection from Origin
Hey mate, Me and my wife play it on windows 10 as we bought the ultimate!! pack for like £6 https://www.origin.com/gbr/en-us/store/command-and-conquer/command-and-conquer-the-ultimate-collection Bought it. Installed it and we play via our network no prob
The NOD flag I found on Amazon and the GDI one I ended up finding on Etsy.

I wish there was more official ones.
Haha, your vague instructions are probably not helping him. Let me help: I edited the Generals Wikipage on PCgamingwiki extensively the last few days to include many more user-friendly fixes. It now also contains instructions about how to work with Gentool and C&C:Online. See here: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Generals Hopefully the user can get some usefull information from there.
Nah, someone out there has gotten it working on *insert system here*, go here(https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Tiberian_Sun) for any fixes and the like and you'll be fine.
It looks like you're having the arbitrarily low framerate issue with the FMV cutscenes. It's a common compatibility issue with modern hardware but can be fixed with some configuration. Guide from PC Gaming Wiki (for Tib Wars but should be the same for KW):
Contra is the best in my opinion.
There are several reasons for that :
Its ranking system (its like lvling up rpg style) .You are able to build your tech center at rank 3 and your superweapons at rank 5.This as you can imagine helps tremendously at the game balance and overall game pace.
Introducing 1 new general for each faction
3.Adding new units and powers for all generals
4.various fixes on performance, AI and everything you can imagine
5.Helpful and active community
https://www.moddb.com/mods/contra check it out
Ist worth your time
Yes, that screenshot is from (this mod)[https://www.moddb.com/mods/red-alert-2-yuris-revenge-cncd2k-mod]. Probably from when i was doing the conversion of original RA2 missions to the mod which is on YR.
Well, all of the original releases are 1.04.
As for patches, there was VK's 1.05 patch, and then I combined that with a bunch of other fixes and made v1.06. There have been many iterations of 1.06, but those are all mine. The current one is 1.06c revision 3.
if you are talking about General Leang, there are a couple of mods that enable her, some with changes (or even fully new tech), others (mostly) without them, like this one:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/playable-general-leang-mod
You can also make her playable in Challenge Mode by replacing one of the existing general with her, but it takes some fiddling.
Yep, it's very simple.
Download this file and copy it in "YourC&CDirectory\Data>>file<<" open it with Notepad and search for a line with "MaxCameraDistasnce" (or similar), change the value to 650 (or higher if you want, but test this out and adapt it later if needed), save file and that's it.
If you have Origin's Ultimate Collection then you should install this fixer too. It alters the game start so that some mods work and enables command line parameters. (Launch in windowed mode etc)
There is such a mod - it disables secondary objectives and makes Global Conquest so much longer.
I wrote an article about that on the patch ModDB page.

Well... we got a few... and the game itself is freeware. :p

Read the readme file.
Basically, copy the config file and modify the maxcameraheight. I like to set it between 600-800, depending on the resolution it's running.
Twisted Insurrection and Mental Omega
https://www.moddb.com/mods/twisted-insurrection
I wouldn't call it a mod though, definitely a full version, new game.
One of the best fan RTS ever made.
This is probably what you are looking for:
https://www.moddb.com/games/cc-red-alert-3/downloads/remove-zoom-limits-exploit-map1
Keep in mind tho, that removing zoom limits will produce graphical glitches.
I did this several times on both Generals and Zero Hour. If you increase the resolution game camera is stuck pretty low to the ground.
What you need to do is change camera settings.
1) Download big file editor https://www.moddb.com/games/cc-generals-zero-hour/downloads/final-big-editor
It allows you to open and edit .big files which contain all the data in Generals and Zero Hour. No need to install anything, it simply runs by running .exe
2) Locate your game directory. I don't know where is origin version located so you will have to do it by yourself.
3) Find "INIZH.big" for Zero Hour or "INI.big" for Generals. Open either of them, depending which game you want to mod, in big file editor.
4) You will soon find a list of contents inside this file. In this list find "gamedata.ini" and click on it. It is the same name for both INIZH.big and INI.big.
5) On the right there should be now a wall of text, scroll down slowly until you reach camera settings. It is easy to spot it. There should be something like "maxcameraheight = 300" or something similar. There should be also a setting for minimum camera height and for pitch and yaw of camera.
Just edit maximum and minimum height. I usually go with 700 for max camera and 50 for minimum camera. Save and exit. Now run the game.
I’m not sure, here’s the ModDB page hopefully they have instructions for a Mac installation of the mod (the installer may be windows only, but you might be able to install it manually on a Mac)
You have the First Decade or Ultimate Collection on Origin? They have this newish launcher that helps it run on W8 and W10. I've had no issues with this method.
Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge was free on Origin not long ago, Ultimate Edition has not been "On the House" yet as far as I know.
It is currently on sale on Origin for $4.99 though.
I am so glad that I started a question about which games we would like to see remastered. Did you look at my list of ideas for the remastering, Jimtern? Here it is. What do you think?

https://www.moddb.com/members/mfilga/blogs/cc-remaster
I wrote a long list of ideas I thought could make the remaster fun. I hope EA will think about these suggestions.
As a huge fan of Shockwave, I would like to also add Operation: Firestorm to that list.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/operation-firestorm
somewhat of a new and rising mod that changes things up a bit more then Shockwave but also gives great attention to detail in the new models of units and buildings they make.
Bought a game of them before, and let's just say I'm never buying one from them again. Rather install and start windows to play this game then to play a port.
edit: you can even buy the Ultimate Collection for windows for €14,99 in the dutch origin store right now: https://www.origin.com/nl-nl/store/buy/c-c-the-ultimate-collection/pc-download/bundle/standard-edition
Windows Explorer is the program Windows uses for accessing and managing files. It has this icon.
So it sounded like you said you were having a problem involving weird behavior with the game where the bonus gallery isn't displaying properly and you're getting file validation errors. You've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the gameand you're still getting the same errors?
Your save files are probably in C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/[numbers]/1213210/remote/save_game, though if you're having problems with the game client I'm not sure why you're looking for your saves?

Adds a European faction. It was never completely finished but was still fun to play and had a whole faction up to and including a huge artillery cannon superweapon.
It was my first C&C game as well. I don't know how much you'd be able to spend, but you can get every C&C game for $19.99 on Origin on the Ultimate Collection. As far as I know, there's no download limit and the games work with mods. That's how I have it at least (lost my original disks for Tib wars and generals, so my brother got me all of them for my birthday.)
I think something's wrong with Origin Logic though: $20 for all games together or $20 for each game and expansion separately. Kind of weird.
I am not sure about it being region locked but you can get a refund if the code is not redeemed. have your purchased off steam before?

I can also see it is available for purchase in trinidad https://opencritic.com/game/9589/command-conquer-remastered-collection
Dam, I'm not to sure if there would be a fix for that. If it's a navidia problem it might not be fixable. Your best bet would be here http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/index.php/topic/27162-tiberian-sun-and-the-mysterious-disappearing-menu/ otherwise perhaps try torrenting it. You legally own it so there is NOTHING wrong with trying, the people that crack them usually put up a much more stable version then what origin has.
Hello! First off if you are running windows 7 or 8.1 you will most likely need the fixed launchers. Download them here. there is also a bunch of other fixes there too. The resolution on ra2 usually needs to be fixed but it is a simple .ini fix. Let me know if it helps!
No problem! Get the fixed launchers from here http://www.commandandconquer.com/forums/index.php/topic/26695-fixed-launchers-for-the-ultimate-collection/ it's an installer so it's mostly automatic. There are other great fixes there too but should fix your issue!
Sadly EA doesn't allow the distribution of the game's assets (but they might if you ask for permission though)
