Do you have room for a portable closet? My son stuck his in his tiny dorm room so he’d have a place for clothes, we got and put together this one on move in day, it wasn’t bad at all. We put it between the bed and the wall in his room.
My husband suddenly left our family and we are having to significantly downsize (by about 75%), so my daughter and stole an idea from my oldest son’s dorm room and got risers for our beds. We then got flat boxes that fit under the bed, for my queen we could fit 4, her twin can fit 3. We designated one for shoes, then organized our clothes from there. We did capsule wardrobes (lost waaayy too much sleep browsing Pinterest for that!) and hung only the big out of season stuff in our new tiny closets (mostly coats), and had a box for each season. Between that and making sure we used wall and top of closet space we did ok, and it felt good to be so organized in all this chaos.
I actually think dorm room organization is a useful search term for Pinterest when you have a small room as an adult. And it’s almost always budget friendly and cute!
Where the shelves are it looks like you can adjust them. I’d suggest lowering the shelves and then adding a hanging rod above.
On the shelves use bins so that if you want it to look tidy you don’t have to fold “perfectly lol.
Also like another comment said, move the hooks to one wall. On the hooks you could get extendable hangers.

Edit: you may also if possible add some shelving about the hooks on the wall
I've had to do this in the past, and you'd be amazed how much you can store under there if you're organized about it!
First, raise your bed with an inexpensive set of bed risers ($16), then pack your stuff (carefully and tightly, like puzzle pieces) in cardboard bankers' boxes with removable lids or something similar (about $2 each).
Using matching boxes means you can line them up in neat rows under the bed frame without any wasted space. Listing the contents on the outside means you can easily find whatever you're looking for. And having everything boxed means you're all ready to move! Plus, you can reuse the boxes for storage in closets (or under the bed again) when you get to your new place.
For bonus points, hide the risers/boxes with an extra-long bedskirt. (The pre-made extra-long ones can be expensive, though, so best to find someone with a sewing machine and make your own out of old or discount sheets. :)
I bought two sets of these shelf dividers. They slide right on and keep everything where it should be. https://www.amazon.com/Organizer-Separator-Dividers-Bookshelf-Organization/dp/B07PHFT5GK/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=shelf+dividers+for+closets+with+wooden+shelves&qid=1563086616&s=gateway&sr=8-4
I just ordered them off Amazon! Did a quick search and there were a bunch of options. I got a 150 pack and it came with the 3 rings too. I’m glad I got clear plastic as opposed to white because I can kind of hold the toppers over a color to get a better idea of how it will look.
Edit found it:

They sell little plastic organizing trays that fit on a standard filing cabinet drawer. Maybe you can get those so you have two levels to store office supplies?
Kind of random, but check out Amazon for a hairdresser’s appointment book. There is usually like 8 places across the top for various stylist’s (for you, campsites) in a a variety of spreads. It is hourly, BIT, I’m wondering if that would allow you to plan for arrival, potential cleaning schedule, etc.
Here is a linksaid example book
In addition to the other suggestions, consider going with a black cable just to reduce the visual annoyance. Also look for a cable that is less rigid with a smaller diameter. Silicone cables are durable but hang effortlessly like string. A flat cable would also work. Something with a 90-degree plug on one end like this would reduce the distance that it sticks out.
If you can, try running the cable between the edge of the open panel in the center and then down and between the seat. If that doesn't work, you could use one of these to hold it in place. Another option would be to get a windshield or vent mount for your phone and then run a very short cord to that.
I just started reading The Paper Solution by Lisa Woodruff. Game changer for me. I have an office that I kid you not is 10 years of me avoiding paperwork. I dug in to her book and am slowly making progress. She has a reasonable to implement system to help deal with a backlog of paper and mail/stuff still coming in to the house (the Sunday Basket).
https://www.amazon.com/Paper-Solution-What-Shred-Taking/dp/0593187768/ref=nodl_
This is what I’ve used and I LOVE it. Exact measurements, hex for paint colours, and it’s so easy. I’m not great with computer things but this saved me so so much time vs graph paper. You don’t have to get all crazy with it and fully design like the examples, but it was very helpful to be able to move around squares representing furniture instead of actual furniture.
Baskets. You can sort by genre, alphabet or whatever tickles your fancy. Stand them up either way and then even if you need one in the back you're pulling out 2 or 3 baskets instead of 30 blu rays. Note the below examples are for visual purposes only. You'll have to confirm appropriate sizes (and prices - Amazon is weird!).
Better yet, put a slide out on it. This one is just a tad too wide: https://www.amazon.com/Slide-Out-Cabinet-Organizer-Pull-Out/dp/B082BG2WFR/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&hvadid=77721782533732&hvbmt=bb&hvdev=c&hvqmt=p&keywords=wire+drawers&qid=1620868352&sr=8-3
Amazon and most other websites add tracking information to the URL. With amazon specifically, if you ever wanna make it shorter, everything after "/dp/blahblahblah/" can be removed, eg: https://www.amazon.com/Prepworks-from-Progressive-PKS-915-PrepWorks/dp/B07RS87JCZ/

They do poorly in high humidity, and their adhesion to the cheap, porous paint that a lot of apartments have isn't great. That said, proper prep and application helps a lot. Use denatured alcohol to degrease and dry out the application site, and when you apply the adhesive, press hard on it for at least a full minute. Give it a day to set before you put any weight on it.
As a last resort, you can also swap out the included tape strip with 3M VHB tape.

Fair warning, treat this stuff as permanent. It's unlikely you'll get it off a wall without some damage.
I bought an over the door coat rack at the Dollar Tree and put it inside my closet to hold all the bulky cardigans and sweat shirts.
We have these: https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-26306P02-Decorative-3-Drawer-Espresso/dp/B00V87CD1S
We use them as night stands, but they have all our pajamas and sweats in them.
Jeans/leggings are folded and stacked on the shelving our closet came with. We have 4 bins from the Dollar Tree on the other shelf that holds our socks and underwear.
Nice pants and all tops, skirts and dresses are hung.
I would consider removing both the cabinet and the shelf and replace them with an over toilet etagere like this one:
ALLZONE Bathroom Storage Cabinet, Over The Toilet Shelf Organizer, 4-Tier Adjustable Shelves, Small, Saver Space, 92 to 116 Inch Height, White/Gray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YDL4CQF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_9P6S8MAQ7ZVPFYBDVD1W?psc=1
Use baskets that are solid (no big gaps or clear bins) to reduce visual clutter. Measure the shelves and order baskets that will fit as perfectly as you can manage.
And then a freestanding TP holder for multiple rolls. Maybe one with a flat surface on top.
Then maybe some small suction cup storage for small items and/or hair tool organizer that is mounted to the side of the vanity.
take EVERYTHING out of your car and head to a car wash that has vacuums. there are some really great videos on youtube about how to detail your car if you want to go that far. I have an oxiclean car interior cleaner with a scrubby thing at the end of it and it’s awesome for cleaning up dirty spots.
get a new sun visor that folds easily, no use keeping a cheap one that doesn’t fold well, it just takes up space.
do you have passengers often? I would suggest getting a collapsible storage tote and buckle it into the passenger seat (I have one like this, I keep it in my back seat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F9IS2Y8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_10G49Z3ZMZ51B6TCAJ15) and when you do have passengers, it can easily be moved to a back seat or trunk!
take everything out of your car that you don’t absolutely need. it will just keep piling up and cluttering your car.
Hopefully that helped a little!!
I like the idea of high sided trays, or or peak boxes of some sort. For example, the command folks have a product who’s box I like. What I like about the opaque sides is that they block all the multiple labels and bottle shapes. You can still get things out, you can still see what they are when you’re reaching for them. But from a distance, it is a single object And a single color. Look at the container inside this wall-mounted unit, and envision it removed and sitting on your counter. You might also be able to stick it on the mirror at the side and thereby have storage that builds up.
Command Wall and Cabinet Organizer, Satin Nickel, 1-Organizer, 4-Water-Resistant Strips, Organize Damage-Free https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C60CAYU/
Noticed specifically how tall the sides are, and envision how much it would camouflage all your multiple labels. You could find similar containers that might have texture, or small holes, that would do an OK job of hiding everything from the side. You can mix and match brands if you can find a color that would unify them all; I suggest white.
Must it be a rod? Are you looking to dry clothes or store clothes? First thing that came to mind for me was this
Not sure which you’re referring to.

For the sturdier books, you could stand them on end. For the "floppy" ones that will fall over, an open magazine holder could probably work.
An open file organizer might work too.
For the binders & what seem to be loose pages under them, I would honestly try to fit all the information in a bigger binder. Put the loose pages in page protectors or those binder pockets.
No plans currently in the works to convert the app to be compatible with androids. Sorry about that. This app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myhomeowork&hl=en_US), which also has an iOS version, is quite good however and provides a lot of the essential functionalities you would want out of a homework organizer.
The biggest difference between my app and this one is that mine focuses on long term improvement, seeing what you week looks like over the course of a year and adapting your study schedule to best accommodate for that.
A closet extender like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YXHMOYG could get you some more hanging space.

I would also put baskets on the shelves, look for ones that are deep enough, or else put 2 sets, one in front and one in back (with less often used items in the back ones).

Since those shelves look tall in the picture, you might also benefit from under-shelf baskets and/or shelf risers to get more shelf space.
I've tried at least 20+ different systems. But always seem to come back to Trello seeing it (and similar kanban systems) are pretty much the only things that let you use two dimensions (up/down + left/right) to re-arrange things, and they make much better use of a computer monitor.
...rather than just a single linear list... which always ends up being too long to be useful, and generally wastes too much screen space and hides things off-screen with scrolling or nesting.
Also used lots of note taking programs over the years, but settled on just using markdown files in my IDE seeing it has good searching and heading outline features, and I don't need to use different keyboard shortcuts etc.
For important reminders of stuff that must be done on a certain date... I hate the fact that almost every reminder program makes it to easy too dismiss stuff, and they rarely let you easily check what is currently snoozed and when they'll unsnooze. The only decent reminder thing I've found is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dg.gtd.android.lite ... seeing it can keep reminding properly.
Everything else I've tried disappears too easily and has no clear indication of what is actually done vs snoozed. Especially for recurring reminders... most of them are very unclear when you're trying to differentiate between multiple occurrences of the same reminder.
best fix: padded basket. they might topple over but it will be contained and protected.
maybe might work: china felt protectors it will give them more friction between each plate.
targeted fix: china protectors. zipper and handles will contain everything and make it easy to move.
What about a storage bench/box that would fit in that area? Something kind of like this?

Bins, both inside drawers and out, could protect your designated space and keep your partner's mess away from your organized stuff.
In some of my drawers, I contain types of socks within repurposed shoeboxes (I covered some with pretty paper).
I store some of my smaller clothing in divided bins... I took a 14 x 11 basket from Target and made cardboard dividers to split it into 20 little cubbies (it looks like this divided bin from Amazon), then I roll each of my sleeveless tops and stick them into the cubbies. I like that there is a designated place for each one, and that I can see them all at once when I want to grab one.
Congratulations! How exciting :)
I have a pantry for the first time in my life, similar to yours. I love it!
Most-used things on the eye-level shelf. Heavy and least used on the bottom.
Looks like the shelves themselves aren't too deep, so you could probably get away with not having containers to slide things out for easy access. But you might want to buy a few just to better organise them and for a cleaner look. A few shelf risers could come in handy for things like cans.
You can get those under-shelf drawers to make better use of the space above the top shelf. Unless that's an unmovable bar, in which case you could add another, shorter shelf above it.
Mine has wire racks attached to the wall on either side, and because they're narrow, they don't get in the way of the main shelves. The extra space comes in very handy! And, like someone else mentioned, you can use the back of your door for yet even more storage :). (I can't, it's a folding door.)

This it the kit I have! Super affordable! chefs path 14 pc I guess they're not technically vacuum sealed but they do the job!
Yeah, this is a great idea! To give you an idea of some search terms here, you can look for a foot of the bed ottoman with storage. That will give you something approximately long enough, but you’ll need to be careful with the width. Here’s one for $63 that’s 45 x 15 x 15 with lots of good reviews and comes in a linen color to hide the dust or a nice dark blue that would be cute with your duvet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0854DBYV3/
I got it off of Amazon, and Yeap, totally adjustable! I've had it for about 2 years now and still in great shape! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FJTYVQG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_FP4V9VRDRK1S0M492PAE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I would try to mount the power strip up under the desk or on a leg. Plus for the cables you can get nice raceways to hide things like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LDZKP9P -- I don't have enough room under my desk for them, but I've used similar things before on server racks and they work nicely for keeping cables contained and still letting you move them around as needed.

I bought a thing off Amazon.... I think it was called a “swing out towel bar”. I mounted it inside my closet. I can hang my clothes over it and they can air out a bit plus they’re out of sight. I used to just use a chair but it always looked messy and the clothes would be wrinkled.
Mine isn’t a chirp wheel but I’d still recommend it. I got it off Amazon and it’s called Pete’s choice https://www.amazon.com/petes-choice-Comfortable-Accessory-Flexibility/dp/B06W9K1W4F/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=yoga+wheel&qid=1609738341&sprefix=yoga+whe&sr=8-3 I find it really helpful for back and heart openers. It’s nice if you’re working on getting deeper but don’t have the strength to back it up or just want to do it safely. I know a lot of people do fun more challenging balancing things with it but I haven’t ventured out that far.
To add to this:

Thank you so much! I’ll have to go look into different drawers- I’ve checked them out on Amazon, but have been wary to buy since I’m not able to feel out the sizes in person. You’ve just reminded me that they finally built an IKEA here in Vegas recently!
I like the tray idea for perfumes, when searching just now I also came across tiered/riser shelves. What do you think of something like this?
Looks so great!
Just a small thought, but seeing all the appliance cords flapping around you may want to get a pack of these. It makes it so much easier to keep neat when you are not having to worry about the Instant Pot cord when you're trying to get the Kitchen Aid out.
My handbags are up there, works nicely. I stuff bedding into bins to keep up there otherwise it's a mess.
Shoes would be fine. I'd have put my shoe cubby up there but it's too tall to fit as I've got 2 shelves over the pole. I wouldn't use boxes rather a shelf type shallow enough to fit. Ikea's wire rack would work sort of. This one probably is better as it expands.
That shelf is a great place for stuff. Box it up in something pretty and not so large it's a nuisance to lift up and down and it's fine.
I bought a clothes hanger thing. I mounted it on the inside wall of my closet. When I get home I can hang my clothes on it, move the arms around so that the clothes can get some air. It’s been working great for me!

Neutral coloured storage baskets are a must!! Some plants (fake or real) would also make a massive difference to the feel of the room, very fresh and clean looking!
The tiles you have are lovely, and I would definitely keep lime green as a feature colour! Have you thought about getting a lime green bath mat or something similar? Replacing the jar by the skin etc with matching colours would look fab!!
You can also buy cupboards that fit with the contours of underneath your sink, which gives you a tidy hiding spot for excess lotions and potions!! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portland-Under-Bathroom-Cabinet-White/dp/B01H2SWC9O (Amazon UK, but just gives you an idea of what I mean!)

There are 2 places you haven't shown--the base to the left of the dishwasher & the upper to the right of the microwave. Would either of those work for plates & bowls?
For everything else you've shown, I'd try to organize this way:
• Island = Pantry. Those pullout shelves could really work for canned/boxed goods & containers for baking supplies. You will most likely need to buy plastic bins for bagged items that don't stand well on their own (chips, chocolate chips, etc.). Use drawers for spices & baking utensils (measuring cups, rolling pin, pie slicer, etc.).
• Cabinets with 3 tier pull-out things = Stemware & mugs (as long as you can at least reach the bottom tiers). As someone else suggested, this could also work for plates if you get vertical storage.
• Base Cabinets (with corner lazy susans) = Baking dishes & mixing bowls.
• Deep Upper Corner Cabinets = small appliances...most used in the most easily accessible place. If you're going to have to get a stool to access the area any way, you may as well put little-used items up there. If it's an appliance you think you'll use daily, then keep it on the counter.
I'm also short & have a difficult time reaching things on the top shelf. I have a folding stool like this that folds flat enough to store between the fridge & cabinets.

You could use it to rotate shirts in and out of your daily wear - stack a couple of these in the less accessible part of your closet, and set a reminder on your phone to rotate them in periodically.
for duct tapes and rolls I like to use cd racks that are 45°, either 2 sticks holding them ot even better 2 side panels or cd boxes. i even pasted the blades that are in aluminum foil box to help cut them.
they can be for bigger rolls if you buy the ones for dvds or vinils.
toilet roll or paper towel storage are options too.
I have a mix of OXO and some variation of these:

And absolutely love all of it. So easy to stack and you can see exactly what you have. I have a wide range of sizes and it’s great for rice, cornmeal, grits, flours, sugars, everything!
get some pot lid holders to organize the tupperware and cutting boards
something like these.. it won’t be perfect but it will help
Love this before and after shot!! Your red stripes are ❤️❤️❤️ 🔥🔥🔥
You might investigate getting an under desk or wall mount for your headphones — it’ll keep them out of your way when you’re not using them and reduce visual clutter when you’re not at your desk. I got this for $6 for my partner and it’s great: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H4NP82V/
I have some of these in my pantry and I love them. They are narrow so you can fit a couple on a shelf at least, if not 3, but they are wide enough to put two cans in side by side
I use a couple like this: 36 Grids Plastic Organizer Box with Adjustable Dividers Clear Storage Container Jewelry Case with Removable Dividers for Arts Crafts Fishing Tackles (10.8 ×6.9×1.8 inch) clear container w dividers
I really liked this book. Also, I invested in a house keeper. I can never get too disorganized because I need to tidy up before she arrives. How Not to Be a Messie: The Ultimate Guide for the Neatness Challenged : The Messies Manual/the Messie Motivator https://www.amazon.com/dp/1578660432/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_9Z5PMMP1FT2JYND9WV9T
I think this suggestion would work.
If there's not enough room for that, maybe narrow storage carts like this. You can find them at homewares places like Marshall's.
It's a brand, but you can also find similar silicone bags cheaper. They can go into the freezer or microwave, which is convenient. I have a handful that are in constant rotation.
I got this stacking jewelry box from Amazon. I like that it's stacking because I can get more trays as my collection grows/changes. The tray with the diagonal slots ring slots on the right side is great for necklaces and keeping them from getting tangled and for medium length earrings.
The other tray has dividers that come out so you can configure it for larger things.
Same problem with the narrow cabinets here. I got a standalone organizer with small stacked drawers. Like this. It's on a counter (thankfully I have good counter space). Could easily go into a bottom cupboard though or a shelf unit.
Limited-time deal: 2 Pack - Simple Houseware Under Shelf Basket, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K6TDCLT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_W83Y3TCAJWZ5QC7QY8RS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I use these little mini shelves that add onto your actual shelves, these are on Amazon but I’ve actually found mine at the dollar store, as long as you don’t have anything super heavy they work really well to give yourself for shelving
I was going to point out that 10" Lazy Susans do exist & should fit on at least one of those shelves, but then I came across these pull out shelves on Amazon & I think they'd be perfect for at least that middle shelf, if not the bottom one too. They come in different widths too. I guess it all depends on if a shelf like this is as deep as your mom's shelves.

Not folding ones but I have these and love them. Thanks to the slit I can easily even put turtlenecks on them.
It’s a Rettle Roller - they are silly expensive - I bought this for a photo project and when the project was done it came to live in the craft room. There are cheaper versions of this at target and other places.

Looks great! I love that book stopper! So cute!! If it gets crazy again you might consider this organizer from Amazon. I got one for my bedside table and for the living room coffee table and I love them! 😊
Does the container material matter to you?
Here is a glass jar from Target that is 13 inches tall. It might work. Here is a plastic option from Amazon.
Edit: I just realized that the 13 inch measurement may include the lid. I’m sorry, but I’ll leave it as an option! You would have to measure your utensils first to see if they would fit
Is this what you want? It's normally for cabinets but that's the first thing I thought of. https://www.amazon.com/Bextsrack-Cabinet-Storage-Plastic-Organizer/dp/B08JYQKTL1/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=under+desk+shelf&qid=1610543907&sr=8-10
I use a tackle/bead storage boxes for all my earrings. I specifically like ones like these for studs. Easy to also grab and toss in a travel bag as well.
I got mine from target but this is similar. It has the no-slip grip. Mine hasn’t warped and I have some really heavy cowboy boots on here.

I bough this rolling cart from Michael's for $29.99. They have other options with more space but this one fits everything.
I bought this organizer set for my apartment's kitchen but my roommate didn't like it, so I used it in my cart and it works perfectly. I wish I had a picture, but basically, I have the one with more slots on the top shelf of my cart to hold sketchpads and canvases. Then on the second shelf, I have my box of acrylic paints next to the second organizer– in the smaller slot I have my smock rolled up, and in the bigger one I have all my tools (watercolor pans, small box of gouache paints, etc) lined up. I don't completely remember what's on the bottom shelf but I know it's my paintbrushes and something else. Hope this helped
If he’s not opposed to getting rid of the original cases, you can save a TON of space.
I have a sizeable collection of CDs and DVDs in these clear plastic sleeves inside these fiberboard boxes
Something like this might help keep the shoes contained
www.amazon.com/Whitmor-Stackable-2-Shelf-Storage-Organizer/dp/B07227Q695
It comes in 2 widths
I don’t remember where we got the can sized one, I think it was part of the kit I got for the fridge?
This is the one we use that’s the perfect size for water bottles

You can buy hanging shelves on Amazon or BBB. They have ones for shoes too. Good luck!
I'm still looking for a good way to organize wires as well. Haven't found it yet. Right now I just have some boxes, but it's not very organized.
A good step one is cable ties, I got these ones from Amazon and really like them so far. This was a huge help to get rid of the birds nest of wires.
if you google "24 by 16 tray" you can find plenty of options, like this walmart one or this one from amazon. i'm sure if you went into any kitchen stores or home decor stores they'll have lots of options, especially places like homesense!
if you want one to place upside down, maybe just do the same search but for slightly larger dimensions
I like the thin velvet hangers they hold clothes better cause they don't slide off. They have them in different colors. Amazon has a great deal and they're much cheaper too. https://www.amazon.com/Yaheetech-Non-Slip-Velvet-Hangers/dp/B06XR77BCN/ref=sr_1_11?crid=38ZLUCAZ0NWYN&keywords=velvet+hangers&qid=1557376062&s=gateway&sprefix=velvet+hanger%2Caps%2C161&sr=8-11
That's from Amazon (so is the desk, and if you look at my post history, you can see diff pics of the furniture). HERE is the stand...
I wrote a very positive review too, because some people said it's not stable and that is not true. It's very stable. Took no time to assemble. Wish I had not waited so long to buy it.
I have a couple of these and I put my rods on the ceiling:

Think about getting some shelf liners for this type of metal shelving:. https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Grip-Premium-30-Inch-Wire-Waterproof/dp/B07PGWJFWF
I know it drives me nuts when the feet of my appliances get stuck between the grates and don't sit nicely on the shelf.
