Europa Universalis 4: Catch up On Your Netflix Backlog While Playing On Speed 5
Since the patch I've managed to finish off Breaking Bad (WHY HAVE I FUCKING WAITED SO LONG TO FINISH WATCHING THAT?)
I must thank Paradox for giving me something to do while catching up on my Netflix backlog. I love waiting 15 years so I can play a game! I used to enjoy playing smaller nations. Now I play as larger nations beating up larger nations and spending 30 minutes waiting for truces to expire.
If you can't sense the scathing sarcasm in this post I'll clarify: I'm being scathingly sarcastic to this asinine EU4 multiplayer balance team. Your game is boring as all fuck, do something about it.
I played the first one, it was a phone game
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=age.of.civilizations.jakowski&hl=en_US
I don't really remember feeling strongly about it either way, it got kind of stale quickly
Wow, I didn't even know Paradox had anything to do with that game. But since it's available in my country, I will check it out on the playstore right now.
Edit: Damn unavailable for my device, but for convenience sake here's the direct storelinks for the appropiate devices:

Could this indicate that the game will focus heavily on characters like ck2? Or could this be just a loading screen similar to eu4.
It’s actually a really interesting view that is posited by Japanese historians. Racing the Enemy is an amazing Japanese paper on the realities of the final days of the war from the internal view of the Japanese government.
I highly recommend reading the entirety of the work, but the summary goes along the lines of this:
The Japanese knew they were going to lose the war. They knew the Soviets were going to enter the war with the European front at peace. The Japanese government was terrified of what a Soviet-occupied Japan would look like and they preferred an American occupation. The problem was how to surrender while saving face and hopefully keeping the imperial system intact. The Soviets would have established a communist satellite state like they had done in Europe, while the Truman administration was at least amenable to keeping the emperor in place for public peace. The Japanese code of honour meant surrendering at all was problematic, but the dropping of the nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki allowed the Japanese to a) surrender to the Americans before the Soviets could enter the war, and b) save public face amongst the population of Japan by pointing to an apocalyptic bombing and say “we have to surrender”.
For me, trade, economics and the organisation of production is the heart of civilisation. Wars and revolutions don't start because of the whims of some "Great Men" but rather the deeper economic and social issues that mean those "Great Men" have the support they need to go to war etc.
I guess it's a materialist view of history but I genuinely think it's the most important thing even as far back as the Phoenicians etc.
I strongly recommend the book A Splendid Exchange as an introduction to the history of trade, it's written in a very entertaining way as well (but with references for further reading, checking claims etc.).
tl,dr: It's because it actually attempts to seriously simulate the economics and trade and politics etc. that is really what causes wars and so on.
I just released the bugtest version of CoE v0.9 (https://www.moddb.com/mods/concert-of-europe) and I thought you guys would find it interesting to see an example of the map changes I made in the update!
With the conclusion of this series, I figured some readers may want to check out the Third French Empire for themselves. So I have created a mini-mod that will allow you to do just that!
Check the Readme for full info, but basically if you just want the save file dig it out and stick it with your other saves. If you want Henri Bourbon and the new French flag, do the full install!
Never done this before, so no guarantees of it working.
And for those who want a higher quality version !AND CAN WATCH TWITCH!, here is the link for the Twitch playback: https://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive/v/56330432
also, they are cutting up the videos in multiple parts due to Youtube being youtube. We might see the other parts later on but I bet they are working hard on it! :)
The Twitch link is the full deal.
Have fun! Good night!
Since IPO PDX's profit margin has declined year on year actually: https://finbox.com/OM:PDX/explorer/gp_margin
Not sure how that fits into your 'focus on max profits>product' theory.
For those who don't get the reference.
Also for those who don't get the reference:
BRUSH UP ON YOUR 1920s NOVELTY SONGS, FOOLS! THEY'RE EXCELLENT!
Because one day you'll convert this save to EU3 and the extra cash will be handy there?
Not that I have ulterior motives in suggesting this idea, at all. :-D
>Something like that could happen in the next twenty or so years.
lol
>Putin has consolidated a lot of power; who's to say the next president will be able to keep it all together.
double lol
> Plus Russia's economy is going terribly what with sanctions and the reduced prices of oil.
>It will get progressively more difficult for one government to rule all of Russia if the population and economy continue to decline.
Apparently winter is already taking it's toll on my men despite it being August still. It's extremely rare for temperatures to drop below 44°F in August in Kazan, so I'm not sure what my men are complaining about.
Hey /u/Fatherlorris I noticed that whenever you post a new comic, your site loads like s... well, poorly (I'm from Europe).
May I suggest using Cloudflare? There's a free plan that should be enough.
Good morning, everyone. I’m Magne “Meneth” Skjæran, and somehow someone decided it’d be a good idea to let me do yet another dev diary. In the past I’ve written about modding, optimization, quality of life, and a handful of other topics.
Today, I’ll return once more to the topic of modding, by giving you the whole modding changelog in all its glory. A while back we gave you the modding changelog up to that point in time, minus some features (most notably offmap powers) that had yet to be revealed. This time around, no redaction is necessary.
We consider the CK2 modding community to be a great asset; the ability for users to tailor the game to their preferences, or to leave the confines of the Middle Ages entirely, adds significant replay value to the game. The modding community is also a great recruiting ground; I myself am a former modder, and PDS recently hired AGOT modder Matthew “blackninja9939” Clohessy as a content designer, and numerous other people at PDS have modded the games at one point or another.
Therefore, in each major patch we add a number of modding improvements for the sake of modders, on top of trying to make any features we add for the patch or expansion as moddable as reasonably possible. This makes the job of our content designers easier, and ensures the modding community has the ability to make significant changes to the game.
Without further ado, here’s the mod changelog for 2.8:
[Will be in comment replies, it's massive.]
That’s all for today.
Next week, Rageair will be back with the rest of the 2.8 changelog and a list of the achievements added in Jade Dragon.
There is something close to what you described: Alea Jacta Est
There is also Command Ops 2 for a WW2 setting.
19th/20th century anarchism isn't just "no laws woo, RIOT!!!"
it's a/a set of political philosophies.

it's not a controversial point it's just a mistake based on the definitions of terms
No, but I will plug for Twilight Struggle, which myself and several other gsg-playing friends of mine also indulge in. Closest thing we are going to get to East v West (and probably better than that game was going to be). Recommend playing against actual people rather than the AI though.

Excellent start! I look forward to more BICE.
I highly recommend all HOI3 players try it out after playing through a campaign in vanilla. It really isn't much more difficult than the original. If anyone has questions, I'd be happy to answer.
Also, I recommend you read the official BICE 8.x Manual. It goes over the new units, and gives sample division compositions.
It's normally spelled with one "l" in English, though.
The Casti*lian people live in the province of Castile and Léon, as well as in Castile-La Mancha and the Spanish language, is also known as Casti*l*ian.
As you an see here, spelling it with one 'l' in English has been far more common throughout history.
^*It's ^usually ^Castilla-La ^Mancha, ^even ^in ^English, ^but ^it's ^sometimes ^spelled ^the ^English ^way

The site also includes dozens of events such as the belgian revolt.
Selfishly, I would love Victoria 3 on the chance I can finally play a Vic game on my Mac (via Steam anyhow). :)
Rome would also be very cool. I had an idea a while back that a "Rise of Civilization" sort of thing that maybe starts in the Fertile Crescent and Mediterranean area could be really intriguing from Paradox and could then flow into Rome a la CK -> EU.
I found out how to do it! It's Here
go to Victoria 2>Mods>mishmashmapmod and select the strong terrain version(thats the one i think looks like the picture, there are 2 other versions but i haven't tried them yet) its works standalone and it works with HPM too! i haven't tried it with other mods yet but will probably work if the mod doesn't change the map.
I'm actually happy to hear about the AI demolishing the entire QA during the test run, by offering Condottieri to other AI. My main concern when it comes to new features, is always if the AI is capable of handling them properly.
He said that they have been nerfed in that regard(stated that they "moved it over to hard mode"), but I hope it's still reasonable enough on normal mode, where apparently only bordering military AI give out Condottieri.
Edit: Since the stream is over, here's a direct link to the video.
they have sales for EU4 all the time ....for around 10 bucks.
Actually, you can take a look here: http://isthereanydeal.com/#/page:game/info?plain=europauniversalisiv
seems like it's on sale for 5€ right now
There isn't even agreement what is difficult to play. Plenty of people say CK2 is the easiest while others say it's one of the harder ones.
At that point we might as well just get rid of any notion of objectivity and add another entirely subjective axis: fun
So here is my version of this graph (also I got rid of the silly inaccessiblity-streamlined axis that doesn't make any sense)
If you're going to show a lot of often-changing content, like the News feed when you start the game, it's often best to just use webpages since you probably already have an entire frontend team that specializes in that and can deliver it fairly quickly, and you're probably gonna show it on your website anyways, so why not load it from there instead of building it twice?
This is getting a lot more popular; Electron.io apps are basically just desktop-containers for webpages ^(don't use Electron it's pretty bad), and Steam and Spotify are basically also just websites that run in a custom container, where the container adds a small bit of functionality the website lacks (like starting games).
So yeah, the introduction screen on Victoria 2, EU4, Stellaris, and CK2 just loads a customized web-page. In fact, there was a bug not too long ago with the Victoria 2 screen that just showed you an error since you had to be authenticated* for that specific page.
*^(The normal launcher pages probably require authentication from the game too, so you can't just visit them normally on the website, but in this case, the launcher wasn't authenticated.)
Converter guy here!
It may or may not work with mods out of the box. It depends on what they change. Looking at Dynamic Colonial Experience, they changed the map, so the province mappings would need updating (there's a tool for that), but everything else should just work.
Right now, you'll have to release your colonies after conversion, but that'll change in a release or two.
Hey, I'm the guy more-or-less behind two of the three fan converters.
CK2 to EU3 is still in the very early stages, and on hold while I work on EU3 to V2 for a bit (I'm almost there, really!). Though some new programmers have volunteered, so that might speed up.
EU3 to V2 is mostly there, though the current release is rather buggy for some people. I've almost got a new release ready, but HttT conversions aren't working. I've gotta figure that out.
V2 to Hoi3 is done by another guy (who's put time in to the other converters), and seems to be on hold at the moment. It shares a page with EU3 to V2.
Since this is my first Reddit post about the converter, a word at where things are. The converter is still very basic: it converts to fully 'blobified' EU3 nations, and ignores nearly everything other than province ownership. The 0.2 releases are character-focused: rulers, heirs, and advisors. Rulers are complete (barring any bugs), and heirs are complete for all succession types but gavelkind and turkish succession. For advisors, we've had two model proposed. DasGuntLord01's is implemented, and I'll do my idea next. I plan to compare the two and remove the lessor one.
As of right now, the converter does not produce playable games, unless you consider an immediate and permanent economy crash playable. However, I greatly appreciate people converting their saves and reporting on what's working, what's not working, what's strange, and what could be better.
Revision | Log Message |
---|---|
81 | Log number of CK2 baronies in each EU3 province |
82 | Use forward declarations instead of header includes |
83 | Initial implementation of DasGuntLord01's advisor conversion technique |
84 | Don't try to get an heir of a title no-one holds (also, the save that exposed this error) |
85 | No more cloned advisors |
86 | Titled advisors now included |
87 | Remove save incompatible with current CK2 version |
88 | Added Latin_Empire1303_04_27.ck2 |
89 | If an advisor has no home, don't try to place them somewhere |
90 | Option for advisors now in configuration file |
91 | No longer count titles help by no-one as independent (fixes conversion for 1.05) |
It's only $12.99 on Humble Bundle. I know it's not as much as a Steam sale but it's something. I bought it a few days ago and am enjoying it immensely as my first GSG.
Where are you looking? There are many more places to buy PDX games other than Steam.
How about their very own website? Here it is for 60% off. https://www.paradoxplaza.com/stellaris/STST01G-MASTER.html
From my work creating one of the converters, you'll likely find it easier to create a mod for EU3 than craft a new save game. You'll have to create a mod anyways if you want Zikri to remain Zikri, and some of those CK2 culture to survive.
Though this method will prevent you from tweaking initial stability, cash reserves, tech levels, and the like.
Oh, also, feel free to dig through the data files of the converter I'm working on ( forum link sourceforge link ) to help you with cultures and the like. We've been figure out some details on those lately. For that matter, you might find it helpful to dig through the forum thread to see some different mechanics we've worked out (most relevant posts are linked in the first two posts).
Victoria 2 is actually my favourite Paradox game (I got into Paradox grand strategies starting with CK2, and played hundreds of hours of CK2, EU4, HoI4, Stellaris and Vic2).
Graphically Vic2 is indeed a bit dated, but it's not really important for a grand strategy, is it? It also lacks some nice quality-of-life features of the more recent games, like the macro builder, but it's not a big deal. Otherwise it's not dated at all.
Just make sure to get both expansions, and I highly recommend to play the HPM mod from the start, it's a much better experience. Prepare for a bit steeper learning curve compared to some of the more recend PDX games and prepare to read up a bit on how to influence the Upper House composition and what Conciousness and Militancy mean and you'll be completely fine. It's a great game.
Parsing XML is relatively slow, but there shouldn't be that much data (at most a few kilobytes) so it shouldn't matter.
Now, rendering, I think you've got no excuses :P Are you using OpenGL?
Also, if you're using Java, why not libgdx?
Transport brigades decide the speed among other things for your division. For example you will need some trucks to drag that medium artillery around. You can find more info about them in the manual. For the basics however use horses for your infantry divisions, light vehicle for your paratroopers (only one that can be paradropped) and truck / halftracks for your tank, motorized and mechanized divisions.
All the refinery's increase the resources by 25% except the oil refinery which increases fuel conversion by 0.25%
Beach defenses I think is the equal to the pillbox. It provides a smaller defense bonus but is cheaper and faster to build.
The armament factories are built depending on your amount of IC each year when you decide what to focus on that year. For example pick tanks and you can build new tank factories.
The dynasty can change, succession wars and all that, I wanted the flag to reflect this. So for example when the Ming dynasty dies out it wont say Ming on the flag. I looked up names for China and found out that the name for Zhengguo in characters bascially mean (to my knowledge) Middle country, so to save space I just took country.
Yeah, it's pretty clear that the issue is with whatever version of NNM you have; the only countries missing are NNM, and "Byzantine Empire" doesn't cross the sea in vanilla.
Here's my version of NNM, uploaded directly from my directory. I edited a lot of the unification decisions to give myself an easier time (no GP, no tech requirements), but it's basically the same as regular NNM.

^(you'd better upvote me)
I got curious after I saw this post and I found the Concert of Europe mod online, I'll give it a shot. It doesn't quite cover Napoleon, but it does cover his immediate aftermath.
Plus, Res Publica for $2.49 and WoN for $3.39.
According to this page (in German), that's how they decorated the building during the shooting of the 2007 film Mein Fürher.
You should check EU4's system requirements here.
Your processor seems not great, but the bigger problem seems to be your video card. The minimum video card for EU4 includes 512MB of video memory. Your card is an integrated graphics card instead of a standalone (generally integrated cards are less powerful) which means it doesn't have dedicated video memory. It's simply not powerful enough to play EU4 on higher settings without extreme slowdown.
That said, there is a mod you can try to improve performance. I've found the Illusionary Flat Political Map Mode Mod does increase performance on systems with bad video cards because it gets rid of the 3D terrain effects.
That is a very big Russia. I love Russia games and I always love seeing the way they turn out. My Russia game went pretty well, but I didn't concentrate on the Middle East. Instead of that I took Japan and went from there. Here are the images of my game
I ran into it on Reddit a few days ago, it's a useful tool for browsing wikipedia articles. I especially enjoy the map feature that shows up for some articles.
I'm afraid I don't have the save file, but I do have the autosave file. It's about 10 years after, but most of the stuff is still there like I described. Just drop it in your save folder. Warning: will replace autosave.
http://www.filedropper.com/autosave_2
(you might have to rename it to autosave and replace yours for it to work. Upload renamed it for some reason.)
I just made this one Download though I am not sure if it is for the latest release of /gsg/ and NNM, might be the one right before it as I think they just released a new version a few days ago and I have not updated, sorry.
It is Most Nations Released, did the best I could. California is who I saved as, and reset the date to 1.1.1836. Just use the tag [TAG] to change to who you want.
Hope this helps... oh and the map names didn't update yet, so like Norway is playable but it looks like Sweden, etc. just click on the nation and you will see.
EDIT: To clarify I went on the date reset, I went to March of 1836 or so, was trying to get the map names to change but they didn't as of then for some reason.
The only deal I see running currently is this one at GamesPlanet UK. It's not the best price ever, but it's not too bad.
The game goes on sale regularly though. It's usually 75% off at some point during every Steam sale, and similar prices are also found at sites like Green Man Gaming, the Humble Store, or Bundlestars. You can check http://isthereanydeal.com for a quick overview of prices at some reliable sites.
Europa Universalis IV: Conquest of Paradise - Expansion $12.70 DLGamer $14.94 -15%
Appears to be the only one right now
The Idumaens were forced to convert to Judaism, either by threats of exile, or threats of death of the Hasmonean Empire. What if I want to do that in game? :P
The second point is definitely an investment, but it has the bigger payoff. If it works, it would legitimize premium mods as something in their own right, but keep that sphere protected from the race-to-the-bottom of uncurated mod listings.
There is also a substantial cross-promotional advantage. This sub has an occasional hostility to low-cost, purely-cosmetic DLC, but would that hostility still exist if Paradox/Colossal Order sponsored something like a $5 collection of new buildings from the artist formerly known as /u/MaxisLime? (I can't find his new Reddit account offhand, otherwise I'd ping the proper name.)
There are a bunch of test ones released with each converter release here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/paradoxgameconverters/files/TestResults/
Many of them are just an 1821 start saved and converted, but there are several observer games and different people's games as well.
Seems SourceForge is being slow about things (others are having troubles too). You may need to wait a little longer, or try this link to by able to see how things are for it: https://sourceforge.net/projects/paradoxgameconverters/files/EU4toV2-Releases/
Edit: It's up now.
It's should be in the V2 to HOI3 subfolder. If not there, then at the combined converters page.
Though as /u/benandorf pointed out, it's not really up to shape, and the programmer who was working on it hasn't been around at all in quite some time.
I've heard good things about the ASUS TUF gaming A15. Its $1,000 USD.
The only thing is that you might want the larger ssd storage. The gpu upgrade isn't worth it in your case.
So I did so digging and it turns out that calendar is the Julian Calendar but if you switch to the Gregorian Calendar that it's a Sunday.
ok here it is sorry it took so long some work came up last night. To see it as a decision you have to run the second irredentist decision as italy, ie the one that gives you Savoi, Corsica and Malta.
when you run the decision you'll inherit Montenegro, Greece and Bulgaria if you have them as puppets (you need all the greek cores and Istanbul under your ownership or vassalage to do it). let me know if that works for you cause I just picked greece as a good place to start for reclaiming but I can also just remove the ownership requirements and just make it so all you need is to control all your cores (the same as to start the other two irredentist decisions)

The dev diary mentioned a scalable UI so that should also relate to ultrawide setups. Paradox games only support SDR natively so they do not have HDR10 support yet. Here's a [list] (https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_high_dynamic_range_display_/(HDR\) with HDR support. As you can see it is not very big and graphics are one of the least concerns of Paradox games so it will take a while until they'll support it.
The linked mod was the closest thing that I could find to an ultrawide rescale. There doesn't seem to be one so you would need to make your own mod.
TLDR: They don't support HDR10 or ultrawide setups.
There's a Mid-Atlantic Union, however it doesn't include Virginia. It's based more on this map. The Union inherits all of the countries that make up that land. It's only formed when New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania are controlled by one country, or are controlled by someone in the sphere of one country.
Well during the 1700s the two most powerful countries of Europe were arguably Britain and France, and they were both rivals. The Napoleonic Wars saw an extended war between the two, and with the UK's triumph, the post-Napoleonic era saw Britain as an uncontested power on the globe.
However there was an exception: Russia. Russia was still a major competition to the UK, especially in Central Asia (the Great Game. This is contrast to the 1990s after the SU collapsed as no state was anywhere close to competing with the United States.
Okay, so here's the save file for EUIV: http://www.filedropper.com/autosave_1 Mod File (converted save from CK2): http://www.megafileupload.com/4Yeg/Converted_Francia1442_03_30.rar?pt=t7p%2BnnwlrKyoPD4FsTSobWMSRrtOzpyvOnKV3qsL0Ac%3D

It's Here go to victoria 2>Mods>mishmashmapmod and there are 3 versions, i don't know which of those three is the version of this screenshot, but i'm going to check them out.
edit: I just tried the strong terrain version and looks just like this! and better yet it works with HPM!
Oh, oops, I sent you the victoria mod, not the eu4 mod. I'll upload and send the eu4 mod asap.

please tell me if they didn't upload properly or somesuch, or if you need anything else.
As other people already mentioned EU4 is better than EU3 with DLCs.
However what im here to say is that EU4 and CK2 are both on currently on sale on the Humble Bundle Store so i would recommend getting them there while they are cheap.
In the old French style, cars entering had priority.
"France uses many roundabouts (ronds-points). Traditional French-style roundabouts are signposted by a round blue sign, and drivers inside the roundabout have to yield to incoming traffic (which comes from their right). However most roundabouts are now preceded by an international-style triangular sign above a message stating that you do not have the right of way ("Vous n'avez pas la priorité"), and drivers approaching the roundabout have to yield to drivers on the roundabout."
Slavery is horrible, but it's also important to remember that Slavery is also a NON-RACIAL issue, Sweden and Scandinavia is actually a good example for this.
Sweden had many slaves, as did Scandinavia in the viking age to when thralldom was disbanded.. And most of those were ethnic Europeans captured in raids.
I don't think you can. As far as I know, mods aren't really supported with GeForce now, and you can't manually add files. The only way to get mods running is if you subscribe to them from Steam's workshop, and wait for them to download from the game launcher in GFN. This works with EU4 and HOI4.
Darkest hour has no Workshop support. I have never tried it, but i think this might be useful to you https://shadow.tech/. from what i know it's a service where they provide you with a gaming VM for a monthly fee. You can download steam, and mod the in-game files there. Downside is it takes a long time for them to provision a VM
I think that you might enjoy this. Here I even uploaded it for you https://www.mediafire.com/folder/mlisbfzyeukh5/Vintage_Map just move them to your mod folder. Its a early version of VeF, everything is more tinted.
http://www.filedropper.com/jerusalem the folder
http://www.filedropper.com/jerusalem_1 the .mod
Uh, oddities are erm... oh, France was Cathar in my CK2 game but I did this before I understood how to mod Paradox games and I fucked up when trying to add Catharism to the game, so France is instead noreligion. I just say they turned atheistic at the turn of the century, everyone still crusades them anyway.
Oh, and for some reason, everyone starts out with a view on Japan and Mexico.
The older games from Paradox like Victoria 2 on steam are DRM free. Here is a list of DRM free games on steam. You can launch these games from the exe without using steam.
if it helps, Stellaris is on sale for $30 on Green Man Gaming site.
I have purchased many games from there, it's completely legitimate and you get a steam key after.
I expect they might ahve a similar deal for HOI4.
Both deals expire in ~02d 22h at the moment of this post.
Great deal, now I regret being impatient last week :(
EDIT: Typo.
It's been years since I played it so I longer have the mod or a link myself.
I did see this one on Moddb. The screenshots look like the one I used to play but I don't know about its quality or if it even works anymore.
https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/crusaderkings2collection_storefront
That deal on the CK2 collection is probably one of the better ones you will find for the game at the moment. It goes on sale pretty often in different places, you just kind of have to wait for it to cycle round.
I'd personally hold of on the $40 Steam collection as it's been available for much cheaper.
You could get both the collection + aHoD expansion for roughly $20 on GG although that's a DRM free/Non Steam version but there's probably other better deals for the Steam version also.
Yes. I can share 12 saves of this game and other files which you need to use to run this kind of game properly. Can you believe that there is over 500 new flags? Download Here. Version of game is HOD.
Unfortunately, there's not anyone to do that. I'm busy adding features, and the few others helping out are doing some detailed design stuff or adding more of the mappings. It should be a straightforward format, and if you need to update province mappings, there's even a tool.
> But this [the DirectX model] is exactly the model that applies to mods. Mod creators and users have already bought the game, so the game creator already gets money, like microsoft gets money for windows.
No, that's the model that applies to specialised tools to make mods, such as the Creation Kit for Skyrim. The game dev gets a return on the cost to make those tools from gamers who play the games for the mods that are created with the free tools.
> The middleware or engine licenses are always free for the enduser, and often even free for the creator. They are taking the percentage cut instead of selling their product for a flat fee.
Because a cut of what the enduser pays the creator goes to the paying for the middleware / engine costs. For the basic UE4 license, 5% of what the enduser pays the creator goes to paying for the engine (after the first $3000 per quarter, Source). Assuming a game selling for $20 and the 70/30 dev/steam split that is widely quoted, that's 70c of the purchase price going to Epic in licensing fees. That $20 game could be about 70c cheaper if there wasn't a license fee involved for UE4, or they could get 70c worth more content.
> Also, their cut is much more reasonable than what we see at Valve/steam now.
That's an argument separate from whether there should be paid mods. I agree, the 75/25 split seems rather excessive but I have no experience in that part of the industry so I wouldn't know what is considered normal. It seems in line with what has been reported for similar content such as cosmetic items in TF2 and DOTA2 and those haberdashers and similar seem to be happy with how that has turned out.
INSTALLING AND RUNNING:
1 - Download and install Python 2.7. IMPORTANT: Get the 32-bit version, not the 64-bit. Here's a direct link: http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.7.2/python-2.7.2.msi
2 - Download and install Python PIL for Python 2.7. Here's a direct link: http://effbot.org/downloads/PIL-1.1.7.win32-py2.7.exe
2.5 - Restart your computer
3 - Extract the files to your copied Victoria 2 folder (keeping folder structure).
4 - Go to your Victoria 2/Generator folder and double-click Generator.py to run the generator. If you use Window's UAC, right-click the file and Run as Administrator.
5 - Wait for the script to do its job, and enjoy!
Your best bet is to simply modify the game files yourself to give a few Alaskan provinces liferatings in the 30-35 area, assuming that this is just for singleplayer. Otherwise you will be forced to expand to acquire access to less hostile environs. Adding an event/decision to do this in-game would be quite a bit more difficult, although it is possible.
To find the province files necessary to change the liferating, you want to look in the... Victoria 2/mod/HPM/history/provinces/USA/ folder, and then opening up one of the Alaskan provinces shows something like this:
2599 - Fairbanks.txt :
add_core = LSK trade_goods = fish life_rating = 15 1861.1.1 = { owner = RUS controller = RUS colonial = 2 }
Simply modifying the code that says 'life_rating = 15' to 'life_rating = 30' would make your life a ton easier. If you decide to boost all the Alaskan provinces this way, I would suggest that whatever province you wish to make your capital, to add in an extra +1 or +2 liferating so that it will grow slightly quicker than the other provinces and attract the most immigrants.
Lastly, if you do decide to mod these files, I highly suggest you do so with a text editor that is not notepad; I have caused many crashes by using the basic notepad to edit files for Paradox games, although YMMV. I personally use the free Notepad++ program for all my modding needs.
I've always got The Art of War on standby for inspiration any tough spot in Hearts of Iron 3. I just wish I could actually capture the enemie's chariots and use them as my own as Sun Tzu recommends, though stealing Manchukuo's aircraft and Guangxi Clique's five brigade divisions will do.
But more recently I've been reading Shanghai 1937: Stalingrad on the Yangtze by Peter Harmsen. It's truly riveting read and a good insight into the mindset of the Chinese forces and the work of the German advisors. Their efforts caused Japan to refer to the battle as 'The German War.'
The book also gives great accounts from both sides and even neutral parties since Shanghai were home to the French Concession and the International Settlement which created neutral zones that allowed people to observe the war with some degree of saftey.
I really do need to get a book that gives an overlook of the whole Second-Sino Japanese War since Shanghai was only the first of many major battle.
Both Hearts of Iron III and Shanghai 1937 really opened my eyes to a forgotten war of a vast scale, it suprises me it gets so little attention.
> I've always got The Art of War on standby for inspiration any tough spot in Hearts of Iron 3.
I actually found it to be pretty meh, but I heartily recommend The Prince for any political sim.
Thank you very much. Your contribution is most welcome.
The reason I have asked for help is because I work to create scenarios for this , and this will help to build a new scenario.

After months of hard work and a detailed, hand-crafted map of Libya with more than 600 unique provinces representing every detail down to the smallest hamlet and road, the Libyan Civil War Mod for March of the Eagles has finally released its first version.
In 2011, an uprising wreaked havoc in Libya, pitting the forces of the Jamahiriya against various rebel factions. Now, in the Libyan Civil War Mod, you can take control of any militia or polity in Libya and fight for dominance against rival militias and governments in this event-driven mod.
To download, click on the link above and follow the installation instructions. Please do note that this is the very first release, and as such the mod is more than likely severely unbalanced. Please feel free to send me a message on /u/GTAIVisbest if you think something is unbalanced, and I will address it immediately in the next release. I plan to offer frequent updates based on interest, hopefully expanding on foreign intervention, airstrikes, and eventually, the second Libyan civil war.
Enjoy!
In case you haven't decided on anything yet, the collection is currently on sale at Humblebundle. About 11 hours left on the sale.
Just stumbled into this product on Amazon and though about grand strategy games, did not even realise this is about travelling by design.

no it's called Dummynation I will send you the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ahf.dummynation.
forgot to put it in the thing sorry
I think it would be in theory. NVMe's are generally a magnitude faster than SSD. For example, this Western Digital 1TB SATA has a read speed of 545 MB/S which is fine in of itself, but the Western Digital 1TB NVME has a read speed of 2.4 GB/S, which is roughly 4.4 times the speed of the SATA.
If the load times are that much of an issue, and you're sure your mobo has a slot for an NVME or M.2, then go for it.
This is a special computer monitor that you can draw on. I think the pens that work with this can right click. There are better versions. I have never used one, so I do not know exactly how good they are.
I don't know how many all in one tablets have pens with right click enabled, so this could be your best bet, or at least a start.

This is my work laptop and it runs every pdox game without any issues.
The PC you linket is more powerful then this, so it shouldnt have any problems.
You could try g2a.com, where you'll get it for about $5. Just make sure to buy the right version for your region (Russia/Global etc)
Me and my friends bought quite a few games there and never had problems, just make sure you're buying from someone who has a good history and you should be set.
Alternatively wait for a steam sale, they regularly get down to $8 or something similar, the expansions too.
You can shut off the popup window by going to Steam>Settings>Interface and deselecting the, "Notify me about additions or changes to my games, new releases, and upcoming releases."
Also, for an incomplete list of DRM free Steam games: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Big_List_of_DRM-Free_Games_on_Steam
Though it is true the DRM free titles do not give you an standalone installer like GOG.
Read the "division setups" part of the manual, its page 32.
It goes over sample division compositions for every situation.
