That's a fair summary of the difference.
Space Engine is about exploration, while Universe Sandbox is about playing with the physics and interactions of stars, planets, moon, and galaxies.
As the creator of Universe Sandbox, I feel like they're complementary experiences that do their own thing very well.
You will probably want to grab a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Make sure it supports at least HDMI 2.0. When you get it, use it for the cable coming from your monitor.
Here's what I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AYQ5APE/
Alternatively, if your monitor supports DisplayPort then I strongly suggest just picking up a DisplayPort cable instead of using HDMI. DisplayPort 1.4 is the latest standard, but 1.2 is still sufficient for most displays if you want to save a couple bucks. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079736Z53/
I get that this may already be too late, but have you considered contractor poles?
They take up way less space than tripods and might be cheaper too.
I only found out after ordering a pair of tripods... soo.. anyone wanna buy a pair of unused tripods?
Hydra was corded hand controllers. They used those coordinates relative to the tracked head.
There's was room-scale, I did a similar thing in 2015 using DK2 tracking - so was limited to something like PSVR scale.
(The Hydra base was heavier than the DK2 headset, so this was tough on the nose.)
All three are standard sockets.
5.5 mm power cord extension cables might be tricky to identify, but long HDMI and USB extensions are pretty easy for a 2 meter addition.
Too long and you start to see issues with both the USB and HDMI, needing a repeater box to improve the signal over long distances. 10 meters will be pushing the limits pretty hard and probably needs something to boost it or use a different transmission method. 5 meters is the limit most systems give, beyond that the high speed signal starts to get scrambled.
If you did lose it, or you didnt get one, dont worry, its a regular "headphone" cable with 2 male endings...
just go to any electronic store and get a 3.5mm audio extension able with 2 male ends. shouldnt be more than $5
This very long and fancy one costs $7 on amazon.
Sure, get the right Quake VR port for your HMD.
*Quake GVR r/quakegearvr *QuakeVR fishbiter (openvr) https://github.com/Fishbiter/Quakespasm-OpenVR
Portal Gun mod that will also work with Quale VR: https://www.moddb.com/mods/quake-portal-gun
It's not a total conversion just the portal gun in Quake.
Will existing customers that purchased via itch.io get a "free" steam key as well? I made my purchase back in December and it's fantastic, but I'd love to have an auto-updating version on Steam.
War Thunder could get you half way there.
Whilst the game is basically a war game and you're just going to be dropped in the pilots seats, you can do very relaxing test flights just to take in the scenery where everything from map, weather, time of day etc can be changed to what ever you want.
I'm quite partial to taking a flight through the alps at sun set or flying at night in a storm just for the fun of it.
Upside is the games free to play and has a whole host of other features to enjoy. Only downside I can think of is that you'll have to pilot the plane.
I think the problem is here:
>call = 'TASKLIST', '/FI', 'imagename eq %s' % process_name
> output = subprocess.check_output(call)
it runs a process, which can create console window (I think)
Try using https://github.com/giampaolo/psutil library for process monitoring
I am currently using this battery for the Vive Pro 2 wireless:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N0X3NL5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I believe any QC3.0 compatible battery will work, but this one does and even fits the holder that came with the original kit. Of course the link says unavailable but I hope it will get you closer to finding a battery.
Wired makes it easier! What I would do then is just get a cheap router, put it in bridge mode so that it forwards your existing internet connection. I'll suggest a router that I've tested this with before.
Your existing internet line would plug into the router, then plug one of the additional switch ports into the pc.
Cheap router suggestion: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-AC1750-Smart-WiFi-Router/dp/B079JD7F7G/
Get transparent waterwings to wrap around your wrists.
Let me know how it goes. 2 more things that could help that I had read online, the cord that attaches your bank to your adapter is shitty so you can and should use a different one. I think one of the ones on the link box replaces it and is what I am currently using. Also the power bank they send is pretty crappy I would look into buying another one online that will hold a charge for much longer. I bought this one off Amazon and it last more than twice as long as one of the ones included; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LQ81QR0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i use those
amazon link
(sorry i'm german)
I use the Zephyr app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texasgamer.zephyr&hl=en_US
https://github.com/ThomasGaubert/zephyr
you install the app on the phone, install the app on the pc, connect both of them (super easy)
and... thats it...
Try a USB-C to DP adapter with high enough specs to do VR. Something like this should work: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-CableCreation-Display-Compatible-MacBook/dp/B085HF9GSR
Look for things rated like 4K@144hz and you'll know it can handle most VR stuff just fine.
If it doesn't work, though, it means your laptop just won't cut it.
Wired and Wireless is the best of both worlds tho! What's the orange stuff?
You need a USB hub full of tracker dongles sticking out of the top:
I have the same one. I don't have a pic with DAC, but here's 3 Trackers and a bunch of mounts for them taking up extra space. With DAC, my controllers are on the right and less of the mounts fit in there. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOO_UnQyWTHdbLQt9xD3YsArFJJTofSk3o_gjo7RmMgCYBt1Ng8Su-3jPluwMXzqw/photo/AF1QipPsWk8VQF1HUAcTlcUj-bqXhDnF006wHA6NJ_5W?key=OHZBa0dfcks2VXRwbVpoVkJhVHFXWXNZVnZNTjB3
ooh look, half of the results when searching "oculus quest 2 lens protector" are fucking lens covers, oh no what a fucking tragedy, people are calling the things that protect the fucking lenses lens protectors, i must go and report this immediately fuck you
(ps, yeah i do now see that isn't a lens cover but still, fuck you)
I've seen this with my Cosmos Elite., but I don't believe it's a bug Usually the fix was disconnecting from the link box and reconnecting, which caused USB to re-detect the device.
Eventually I just grabbed a remote controlled AC adaptor, which toggles on and off the power to the link box. Causing the USB to re-detect.

Another possibility here is it's nothing related to the HMD. My machine also has a x570 chipset. I recently found that when running Unreal Engine 5 I've been having random USB disconnects... when running SteamVR. But I've also had issues with my Index doing the same things at times.
Replacement 3-in-1's are also still sold, which is super nice. I got a replacement for mine just because it's lighter and more flexible than the original one.
If you have a lighthouse using headset, it should have Bluetooth support built-in. If you don't have one, a regular Bluetooth dongle will not work, as SteamVR doesn't support it.
An option is to use an Android app to control them:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jeroen1602.lighthouse\_pm
I ended up with a similar solution... using these standard room divider tension rods, with some smallrig camera clamps
To you point about this works great because I have a sit stand desk right below one of the stands. So I had to have it mounted up high.
I didn’t use tripods but instead the expandable poles used for holding up sheet rock. So they have pads against the floor and ceiling and then you can mount the lighthouse up high in the corners.
FastCap 3rd Hand Support System 57-to-144-Inches, 2-pack #3HAND5 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000067S12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8QCN4F1XMF9S40NK13RB
Tripods should work but if you bump them you’ll need to recalibrate, so something more fixed would be better.
Actually Kreedz Climbing is way older, as far back as 2009, you're referring to the steam page release date.
In any case, I'd be happy with either or as long as it worked like a native VR game, two lists aren't really needed, at least in my opinion. :)
By the way, thank you for working on knuckles support for your game, I actually can't think of a better first game to test their fidelity on when Knuckles becomes available to end users to be honest.
I always forget to check out Itch.io for stuff. I like how there's a Banshee from Halo at Area 51.
I bet there's a lot of stuff there that would take me back to 2013/2014 in the early days of VR.
I had a lot of the same issues as you with my VP2 (aside from comfort - I find it quite comfy, before it heats up)
What I found to fix a lot of the issues was to replace the original cables connecting the link box to the pc/extendors (the USB and DP cable).
I think there may be some data limitation with the USB cable they shipped the headset with.
USB Cable I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YTHLTW4/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
DP Cable I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081YXC9SR/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
If interested I am also able to extend it 10 meters with no** issues now with these cables. (**there is an issue with the USB port on my headset not detecting my facial tracker, though that also happens without the extender so that's likely a different issue entirely)
1.0 was the version that didn't have a public store page and you had to track down the steam URL to pump in to download it, 2.0 was where they actually made a public facing store page for it and made it more of an actual legit thing to download, and 3.0 is this.
There was even a very early kinda pre-1.0 version of this that wasn't on steam that was just on GitHub when the knuckles got initially demo'd. If you look at the edit history of the PCGamingWiki page for the game you can see the gradual progression as new updates came out. This demo goes way back and has been updates loads of times.
There is a way to restore youtube music streaming on it, here's instructions.
Only issue with this is there's no youtube search doing it this way, so you basically have top manually copy and paste the youtube's URLs over to the app.
I don't see usage like that at all on my 3900x, but if I were in your situation, the first thing I would do is do is remove OpenVR-InputEmulator, then relaunch steamvr to see if that's the issue. Valve made major changes to the OpenVR driver API back in 2018 and that heavily affected the hook of the input emulator. Even the forks of it are pretty dated at this point. I'd point to that being the potential core usage popping up. As for your PC shutting off, others have suggested checking CPU temps and reapplying thermal paste, but if heat isn't the issue on the CPU end I would point to your power supply being the issue. For monitoring, get rid of core temp and switch to HWinfo64. Coretemp has been known to report wrong temperatures on Ryzen. If the CPU isn't running hot and things are still shutting down, replace that power supply ASAP. I wouldn't even run the temporarily run the machine.
once SpaceEngine releases version 0.9.9 on Steam you're going to experience this 3D in Real Time, and resize yourself, and it's honestly pretty realistic, like scaringly realistic. You gotta wait though, the current version doesn't have VR Support, the upcoming one (Which the dev said going to be around Q1) it's goingto be awesome.
Oof, that does sound rough. For most people, just double clicking on the .bplist file is everything they need to get going. We stopped updating BeatDrop 1.0 because 2.0 was built from the ground up to improve in just about every way. PM me if you want a beta copy. Also, PM me if you need help getting it to work perfectly.
We have an in-depth tutorial on Playlists here: https://www.notion.so/beastsaber/Playlists-BeatDrop-Tutorial-e3faf856c3b14b08a51190d8a65a033c
Hey! Sorry about the confusion. I'm writing a full site guide, but it's not done yet. I pasted the answer to your two questions here for you from the full guide. Let me know if you have any other questions! https://www.notion.so/beastsaber/BeastSaber-Site-Guide-96ced402512a47d8aa16467c0038db40
Looks like the original vive. At least it has the nicer cable, they started with one that was basically 3 cables glued together.

Like this one but with the later cable.
https://www.amazon.com/HTC-VIVE-Virtual-Reality-System-pc/dp/B00VF5NT4I
I mean, 50 bucks is seriously cheap for these sort of proprietary cables. They're not making millions of them per day, like HDMI/USB cables. So you're going to be really hard pressed finding anything for much less.
The cheapest I have found is on Amazon. It's not an OEM cable so, the quality may be garbage but, it's only 40 USD. https://www.amazon.com/Skywin-Backpack-Cable-Compatible-Connection/dp/B088FY95JD
I had a similar problem trying to use a floor stand with the sensor on a floor that would flex just enough as I walked around.
I switched to wallmounting with these (no screw holes). I did swap out their adhesive with gorilla strong double sided tape and I've had no issues since then.
I guess you might want these then
Pretty poor of them to not include the mounts. The regular Vive came with two that use 2 screws to hold into place (came with screws and drywall plugs) so are a bit different abs probably better cause this looks like a sticky thing to attach to the wall
Maybe I don't understand what u need but a few weeks ago my RF cable broke and I bought this cable and adapters to replace it. Everything works fine.
try Sea-Bands! They are an acupuncture wrist band that hit this nerve in your wrist that has to do with regulating nausea. I get bad motion sickness on boats and stuff and I swear by them, they seemed to work in more hectic VR games for me too, like Blade & Sorcery.
You didn't just solve a functional problem, but you just opened up the best possible scenario of a tall ceiling area with almost full room scale, for me. WOW.
No one linked amazon, not sure why, but here's the mounts:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MG4D3O5/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If I am a baddy for posting the link, let me know. =) It seems it is one per box.
Here’s links for uk amazon, will give you an idea of what to search if you’re based elsewhere.
Link for the telescopic poles: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000LFVE68?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Link for the clamp mount: CamKix Clamp Mount compatible... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NIBQXGS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The clamp mounts aren’t the best tbh, but they work. They were only £10 so may be worth spending a bit more for some better ones.
My pleasure! Actually, thanks to the magic of Amazon, I found my active USB extensions. These are the ones I used that actually worked.
Good luck!

I used this Anker, but anything that fits and is the same spec will work.

Can you use a displayport to mini displayport cable?
Here is one from amazon for $10. Usually worth the wait if you have Amazon prime as local prices are usually much higher.
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Mini-DisplayPort-Display-Cable/dp/B013PWQPFS
That's what I'm using on my RTX 2080 TI, but I upgraded from a GTX 980 and I used it for that too with no problems. (Can't remember if that's the exact cable, but it should work).
That is if you are using an original Vive, you didn't specify in your post.
Hi AP_RAMMUS_OK. It's Scraper, like skyscraper. Part of the lore of the IP. There is a great prequel novel to the original game, Scraper: First Strike that develops the world and details on Amazon found here. https://www.amazon.com/Scraper-Rise-Cifer-Ryder-Windham-ebook/dp/B0789SWT85
Thanks for the post and have a great weekend!
About 6 - 6 and 1/2 hours, I'll find you the actual Anker version details in a moment.
Here's the one https://www.anker.com/products/variant/powercore-speed-20000-[upgraded]/A1278011

I use something like this to make my computer easy to carry, and use a usb-powered touchscreen for display and mouse input. If you're just doing demos, you may not need a screen or input devices, but they're nice to have.
This keyboard/remote/touchpad/flying mouse paired with a <$100 USB screen would work well for a portable VR system.
Put the Vive and lighthouses in the original box for transportation, or if you have the spare cash, get a headset with inside-out tracking for demos. I use an Odyssey+ for this purpose, leaving my Vive Pro safe at home.
Short of adding an aftermarket soundcard to the PC and plugging headphones directly to it, are there any USB headphones that are really going to send any better sound to the headphones than what's built into the Vive Pro already? Or am I really only getting an improvement via better quality physical fitting ear cups, higher quality drivers, etc. For example, if I tried these astro a50 with 7.1 surround sound, would I be getting more sound to the headphones than Vive Pro default, or just better quality from better hardware?
Out of curiosity, I bought this usb c to 3.5mm adapter and then plugged a pair of old earbuds to it just as a quick test. It sounded pretty much the same as the Vive Pro built in earphones, so I can't tell yet how to judge what USB sound chip is higher sound quality vs the built in Vive Pro one.
If you don’t want to drill into your walls, consider purchasing 2 curtain rods and clamps.
Here are the ones I used:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L43HT2E/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_i_.DKMCb8DZH0T9
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E5M39AW/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_i_wFKMCbTRH6YN8
As I mentioned in the other reply, you could use suction cup mounts if you have a flat surface. It would be perfect in your setup.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DN7J2VF/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07DN7J2VF

I just switched from using these to these both are great long term solutions but I've noticed that the time it takes for the headset and controllers to gain tracking has gone from About 30s-minute to almost instant. Something worth thinking about if you need to mount the lighthouses without drilling.
There are a few on Amazon but they get really expensive. What I would recommend is getting a hard case with customizable/pluckable foam so you can make it fit your gear snugly. I use that for travel.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SSFAPVI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_OaivCb69KMEJH
For general home storage, I got a 40 dollar DSLR camera backpack that has a thick foam layer and removeable padding. Keep in mind this isn’t for travel or flinging around. Just to keep it dust free. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002VPE1WK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_E5hvCbBKH59Z0
They're a bit more expensive, but as I'm in an appartment where I cant mount anything to the walls, I use these: https://www.amazon.com/FastCap-Support-System-144-Inches-3HAND5/dp/B000067S12/ref=sr_1_1?crid=7Z9MYTVP9FZJ&keywords=3rd+hand+support+system&qid=1549660856&sprefix=3rd+hand%2Caps%2C207&sr=8-1 (along with some pose-able mounts)
I would recommend corners. If you don't have long enough power cables, use 9v extensions - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WO99GRI/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The 2.0 base stations do have a wider coverage angle, but corners are generally your best place to mount
What games w ill you be playing?
I got this a couple years ago and it does a similar thing:
The adapter I got is a little loose but it gets the job done
