So let me get this straight:
Bell, Rogers and Videotron were the ones who searched his house, not LEO.
The search lasted 4 hours longer than it was legally allowed to.
Defendant was forced to answer questions under duress.
Defendant is forced to sign over passwords to email/social media. Again not by LEO, but Bell, Rogers and Videotron.
Defendant was denied right to counsel.
Fuck Rogers, Fuck Bell, Fuck Videotron and Fuck Canada for letting this happen.
Amazon Prime (unless we're boycotting them, I don't know), many networks air their shows on their websites next-day.
Googling Showname s0Xe0X will usually link you to some video sharing sites.
https://kodi.tv/ with the appropriate add-ons.
I've had my own 'streaming' service for a while now. Setup a Plex server. It takes a bit of work, but once done, its magic. Works just as well as any other streaming service, but I control the content.
Plex Media Server you download the server to your computer. You tell it the directory you want and what type of media, and like Windows Media Player of the old days and music, Plex finds a dvd cover artwork, along with all sorts of information including a short synopsis, and attaches it to the individual file. If you set it as a tv show it will find the theme music for the show and play it as you browse the selection. It will also take individual jumbled folders and organize them into series for you. Than, all you need to do is download Plex for Android($4.99 but worth it)and login and boom, there's all your content just waiting to be streamed.
Edit: TLDR; turns your downloaded videos into a Netflix type experience.
So I've had one for months now thanks to a friend with American contacts, and I have to say it's pretty awesome.
The holy grail for me was when Plex finally opened up support for it, which they did recently. Plex + Chromecast is like the god-tier combo for home media consumption. I can not recommend it enough to my Canadian brethren who can now readily obtain a Chromecast.
Kodi.tv has been seized.
> This domain name has been seized by ICE - Homeland Security Investigations, pursuant to a seizure warrant issued by a United States District Court under the authority of 18 U.S.C 981 and 2323.
You can use Kodi. Look it up, it's free and infinitely way better than Netflix.
If you're not familiar with computers, it might be a pain to setup. But if you have basic knowledge, install Kodi and have a blast and never look back. This is what I did to cut cable and cancel Netflix once I heard that they supported Clinton and blasted Trump. Fuck that CEO piece of shit.
I've never given another platform a chance because I've been so happy with Plex, but 15 minutes of browsing emby.media already has me at ease. It looks quite slick and integrated with everything you need to pass the WAF.
Also Kodi isn't what provides this content. These are addons provided by other people. So Kodi is just as much a platform as the Android OS it runs on.
The Kodi project is really worried about how their name is being connected to piracy.
No disrespect, but I would recommend anyone interested in using Kodi on iOS install it from the stock repo, and then install the latest build directly from Kodi https://kodi.tv/download and install via Filza if jailbroken. If you're running stock, you can always side load Kodi using impactor. I used these methods with no issues but now I've sideloaded with Xcode using my dev account. Those with iX will want to use a nightly as the current public build doesn't have correct resolution support.
First thing as a reporter, you should start by doing some investigation on your own, after all you are the one getting paid to write the story, are you not? After you do that investigation you might have some actual questions that don't get a laugh out of the experienced people. BTW best to avoid ANY and ALL articles that proclaim Kodi doom and gloom and sky is falling hyperbole, that is all FAKE NEWS, honestly it is!
Next, nothing writes a better story than experiencing it first hand, so go install Kodi and read the sticky thread at the top for suggested addons and enjoy some TV while you join us in laughing at all those silly and ignorant bloggers, Youtubers, reporters and journalist that make silly claims like there is a 'termination of stream' and a 'death of Kodi add-ons' proving they feed on sensationalized hyperbole and hear say.
NOT SAFE TO PRINT unless you donate $2500 with proof to the XBMC Foundation so they can continue to develop their fine media player.
Here is a link https://kodi.tv/contribute/donate
This issue comes up from time to time, and basically what you are requesting is that Plex acts securely when you are giving the user/password to people. You ARE giving the user/password to people when you store it in their Chrome.
Don't give out your passwords.
Make a new Plex.TV account for the user, link it to your account, and be the admin of that new account in addition to your main server admin account.
Plex. It goes on sale for $1.99 quite often, and is $4.99 most of the time. Setup a home plex server, open a port on your router and all your movies, tv shows and music are available anywhere.
It interacts with apple tvs, rokus and chromecasts. EDIT: Also of course iPads, tablets, etc and they have a free front end for HTPCs.
Plex (Free) - This is one of the most popular apps to stream media from your PC to your aTV4. You set up a Plex Media Server on your PC (any OS) and add folders for your movies, tv shows, music, etc. and it will automatically organize your media based on the file names. Then you can simply download Plex on whatever device you want to stream the media to (iOS apps are also available) and browse your library.
I bought PS4 as a gaming only device and I'm happy and satisfied with it. That's not to say it's perfect, it could use many updates to catch up to XBone on the software feature front.
Sony is falling terribly behind Microsoft in terms of software. I guess that's the advantage Microsoft has being a software company first and foremost. Sony's UI is far from great, they're still more or less pushing that media crossbar shit. Luckily beyond firing up a game and checking out my friends list their isn't much to do so I don't have to interact with it much. With the Plex app on the XBone it's not only a gaming console but a home theatre device with easy access to every movie and TV show you have displayed with pretty cover art. Tell me this isn't cool?
That will be the day I move to Jellyfin. It's a little rough around the edges, but Plex is making it more and more clear that we're the product, not the customer. When I can't even customize how and what content I serve, I'm done with Plex.
The previous person mentioned Plex, but without enough detail to answer your question. Plex is free software that runs on your pc and lets you stream to the Roku. It is a very nice addition.
My laptop has an i5 processor, 8GB RAM and some kind of Intel VGA. I use my 40" TV as a monitor almost 100% of the time. I also have a proper mouse and keyboard like you would expect from the old school guy that I am.
I use MX Linux with /r/i3wm. The programs I use the most are:
I use this computer for everything that I do, like for example:
I also use a lot of reddit, of course. I don't use my computer for videogames and my PS4 is collecting dust.
Windows makes me impatient, but I would certainly dual-boot if I had the need. Luckily, that is not the case right now.
I have about 20 years of experience with Linux, but I'm not an IT person. I just like Linux a lot.
Plex Home Theater (OS X, Free) is amazing. Using Plex media server with a Plex client is ok, but was always clunky when considering I had to make sure my main PC was awake and running the server, the limitations of the client hardware and whatnot. I just picked up a cheap 2011 Mac Mini off craigslist and popped it into my home theater rack running PMS/PHT for a fantastic home theater platform. It's so nice to have everything in one place (storage, client, server, processor) so its always connected and ready to go, plus it has more horsepower than most any other client option such as Roku, Apple TV, Fire, etc so the responsiveness is super snappy.
Mac Mini and Plex Home Theater works great with the new Harmony Smart Control remote also.
I just sold all my DVD's and BluRays after ripping (and downloading a few cars) to help offset the cost, figured I should unload them now while I can still squeeze some value out of them before they become worthless in a few years as more and more people make the jump to digital.
Plex
Stream media files from a Plex Media Server running on your computer, or mark them "Sync" to take them with you to watch on the go. Most devices have a Plex client these days, including Roku, Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and I think even gaming consoles.
I use Emby over Plex primarily for three reasons:
1) Plex has slowly been shifting towards ad-supported streaming content instead of self-hosted media. Emby is just your own content and nothing else.
2) Plex is trying to force all users to have a plex.tv account, whereas Emby supports local accounts. Additionally, Emby supports LDAP, so I can run the LDAP server on my NAS and use it to share credentials between the NAS and Emby for users.
3) I prefer Emby's interface for music (JellyFin doesn't have this UI yet).
Use it to stream movies, music and your pictures. I am currently converting my dvd/blu-ray collection to avi files and using Universal Media Server. I am using a Brorsoft converter which uses the avi format that the PS3 can read. It's nice because it preserves all of the surround sound. I also like to play games on mine, but that's me.
I had it setup on the RPi4 4GB model before. It works fine. But I suggest you work backwards; what devices will you be playing media on? If there's no transcoding, the Pi is more than enough. So know which devices and which formats your media is in and go from there. e.g. if only playing on an Android TV there should be no transcoding and it'll stream it just fine.
Refer to this table to see what devices and codecs:
https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/codec-support.html
It's the GOAT. It's a media server that you host on a PC. It's accessible anywhere in the world if you set it up correctly (port forwarding). All you have to do is drop media files in a folder you've designated and it'll index them and make them available to anyone logged in with your Plex account.
There are Plex apps for Roku and many smart TVs, meaning you can manage your media on your desktop and instantly stream (over your local network if you're at home - so really good quality) your media. If you're not at home you can stream over the internet. It's fucking amazing.
That's a pretty good question, I tested it real quick just now with the network monitor in chrome. The pin is stored on plex's servers, and funnily enough they transmit it as a url parameter, so i guess they don't consider it security (I've been corrected about how https works, so this can be safe) -: PUT https://plex.tv/api/home/users/(userid)?pin=(newpin)&currentPin=(oldpin)
You'll also need to include your token in the header -: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/129922/how-to-request-a-x-plex-token-token-for-your-app/p1
My Linux ISO collection. I swear.
Contrary to the label, I don't have nearly 8TB of music -- that's just the total size of the RAID in the NAS. The network map is to a specific subfolder where I store my music.
My music and... Linux ISOs... are all then indexed by Plex so I can stream to any device including my TV or phone.
I used to run my entire home server on RPi4 4GB and it working well for me. Everything in docker container (Jellyfin, HomeAssistant, AdguardHome, etc. but no Nextcloud)
A few notes: 1. For Jellyfin, hardware acceleration is not working in 64bit OS . So I would recommend 32bit OS. 2. Ubuntu server reserved port 53 for systemd-resolved, so if you want to run Pihole/adguard, make sure to disable it. 3. Another OS to consider: DietPi. It provides tools to install common software including docker & docker-compose. And it write logs to ram by default, so it help to prolong your SD card life.
Exodus is specific plug-in for a program called Kodi that lets you watch free streaming video.
http://www.wirelesshack.org/new-kodi-17-krypton-setup-and-how-to-install-exodus.html
i know this is a bit late but hopefully this may help someone for the future games. This requires a bit of work but once it's up and running, it's pretty good. I'm watching Yupp TV on it and it's been stable throughout the match.
Here's how to enjoy live cricket:
Install Kodi TV https://kodi.tv/. It's available on PC and Mac.
You can install several video addons to watch live and on-demand TV. Before you install the addons, you need to install a repository which contains it.
The video addon we are interested in is ZEM TV.
For Zem TV, install the "Shani's repository". The whole process is listed here: https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-zemtv-for-xbmc-kodi/
Once installed, go to Video > Addons > Zem TV > Sports. Yupp TV should be listed there.
Hope this helps.
> no locked features
I have never used Emby, so could be off base, but from their website it looks like a lot of features are locked behind Emby Premiere. Am I missing something here?
If you're willing to turn off your Windows Firewall on your PC (most likely won't cause any issues unless you are into some very shady sites/activites) you can use PLEX to stream to the PS4 via the web browser. I've been doing it for months now and I love it. The interface is fantastic, and PLEX just updated their player letting it work even better now.
> They don't care if people even use Kodi.
Then why do they have a social media presence? What purpose would it serve? Why not just stay in their forums, where users have to agree to certain rules to post, which will at least filter out some of the noise. If getting pissed at people on twitter, facebook, reddit, whatever, is bothersome.... why do it?
Its not a commercial product. There is no support. They keep reiterating how they do not care how many people use it. Yet they also keep reiterating how irritated they are at the users.
Just ignore it all, get on with development for whatever reason you do it, and be done with it. No more hassle. No more asshole users bugging you. No connection to piracy. Argue in github and kodi forum posts, and thats it. A controlled environment like that would certainly ease all this stress they apparently are suffering from.
>They don't sell it.
Also not exactly true. Some of the time, certain devs have been paid to work on Kodi. Kodi receives donations, hosts conferences, courts commercial partnerships, and has many sponsors. Not a lot of money, for sure, but a lot more than many other open source projects. There is money involved.
They have two new skins starting with v17:
https://kodi.tv/a-brand-new-look-for-future-kodi-versions/
Personally, I still use the "Titan" skin by marcelveldt, but Estuary is an enormous improvement from the terrible Confluence skin.
Kodi still takes putting some effort in to get it working the way you want it, but I gave in ~18 months ago and switched to it from WMC and am very happy with the switch. That extra effort comes with a ton of possibilities (like control of my Hue lights in the living room to dim when a movie is playing, just for one example). But once your initial setup is done, you can just generally leave everything and not need any additional maintenance. And now with it being in the Store, I won't have to manually keep my three PCs all up to date, so I'm very excited about this.
Yes, the clients page on the website points to it as the official client on ios.
> but couldn’t find this app as part of his repositories.
It's on jellyfin repositories, https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-expo
> Is this the official Jellyfin app? Are we still encouraged to use Infuse rather than this?
AFAIK Anthony most of the time the only guy working on ios, and is a slow process because there isn't anyone on the team who really is an expert on swift.
Infuse been around for longer, is a more complete app. You can use any app you want, there isn't an encouraged one. If it works it works.
Begrijp me niet verkeerd.
edits: bewoording
Ooh got one. Kodi.
Idk how many people actively use it and all, but it is a fairly popular media player. But GOD THE ADDON FUNCTIONALITY. It's a great player as is, but the moment you look at the way addons are implemented. Of itselt, It looks fairly simple.
So you try and create your own add-on (I tried a week ago)...
You have to have an init python method. Not a seperate file, just a function. Then another function for Kodi's init. You have to import a whole bunch of Kodi dependencies even though it's a modified python for add-ons and is required for ANY add-on. Then, instead of a simple function to add a menu item like menu.add(), there is a large array you have to add it to.....
Do you have a computer or a phone?
If you're curious about Kodi, which is what these 'android tv boxes' run, you can get a version for almost any computer OS or mobile device that you are likely to be running here: https://kodi.tv/download/
Throw Fusion on (search for Youtube videos for how to add Fusion to Kodi) and you'll be all set.
The advantage of these boxes is that 'everything' is set up for you already and they have a small footprint for living room use.
But, if you want to try it without spending any money, you can.
Make sure you're logged into plex.tv with your account that has a Plex Pass, and from there plex.tv/subscription should show an option to cancel: https://aws1.discourse-cdn.com/plex/original/3X/d/9/d9dbe9af5241099d6cfde80afcc058c67b2780f3.jpg
What about Emby?
https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby
> Is Emby server fully open source? If yes, what license are you using and why did you choose it to make open source?
> Emby Server is fully open source under GPL V2.0. Anyone can run from source and be up and running in a matter of minutes. It's important to mention though that our goal is to produce the best experience we possibly can. If an agreement with a potential partner were to require us to make certain modules closed source, then we would not hesitate to do that. These situations are reserved for standalone, optional features and will not prevent running the core server from source.
It seems like your names follow the naming scheme, so it should work. I myself only had this problem with more obscure movies. Hollywood blockbusters were fine. In either case, if the name was wrongly associated, you can go in and reassign it. You have to open the movie on the webpage and then it's somewhere in the options. Unfortunately, this does not work with the Jellyfin App, only with the webpage.
Think of it like hosting Netflix at home with your own content. Plex is also like that. The difference between Plex and Jellyfin is that Jellyfin is open source so anyone can improve it and you know exactly what's happening behind the scenes (literally in this case), whereas Plex is managed by a private for-profit company and you have to pay for some features in addition to some badly disguised ads.
You can find out more about Jellyfin here: https://jellyfin.org/
I switched to jellyfin last year, and I had no idea this feature existed! Actually, it looks like it hasn't existed long. But that's great! Maybe my kids can have a pandemic-safe movie night with the grandparents.
Use Plex. Your NAS doesn't have enough power to transcode, so you'll have to install the server on your desktop and point it to the NAS for its library. That's what I do and it works beautifully.
Nope. The mobile apps and certain features they do charge for, but you can run a server and watch your content from any computer for free. Try it out https://plex.tv/
I bought the lifetime pass because I run a server with 15 different users connecting to it. I prefer the plex interface over netflix now.
Voice typing! I can finally search for TV shows and movies using the mic on my FireStick remote, instead of having to hunt and peck for each letter.
This Kodi box is setup and marketed directly as a box that will stream movies and TV that you do not pay for. Pirating
I am not saying he is pirating Kodi, he is advocating, promoting, and marketing using it to access pirated material.
https://kodi.tv/the-piracy-box-sellers-and-youtube-promoters-are-killing-kodi/
With the exception of track position synchronization, I've found that Airsonic meets the requirements you list, and it is what I use.
For Android I use the app Ultrasonic, and have had essentially no issues.
Plex. (https://plex.tv)
There is a program called 'PS3 media server'.
http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/
It does everything you need to stream content from your PC to your PS3.
Pros: Easy installation, friendly interface.
Cons: Streaming can be an issue depending on your wireless signal strenght, and location of ps3 in relation to router.
Disclaimer: I'm a Channels dev
This isn't Channels, as you can see that the UI is a bit different.
It looks like it's a new version of the open source app Antenna that you can find on GitHub: https://github.com/lucasharding/antenna. Looks cool.
I'm of no help with Mac's, but try Universal Media Server if you can't get this solved. UMS has more features and one of them is automatic plugin download/install.
Apologies I've looked around a bit and can't seem to find the setting. I can see an old thread on the emby forum about this: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/73577-chapter-image-extraction/ but I don't see any advanced settings where I can enable this.
Where should I look for this setting?
>Lifetime Term: Lifetime shall mean the current major version of the Emby server software or twenty-four months, whichever is longer. (E.g. The Emby server software is currently at version 3.XXXX. A lifetime subscription shall be valid until Emby server software reaches version 4.XXX or twenty-four months, whichever occurs later.)
https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/installing.html
I do mine in a dedicated Debian virtual machine on a Proxmox server that runs a bunch of services, but Docker is probably the easiest way.
The program is called Plex. It manages your downloaded shows and movies and downloads metadata for them. If you download the app for your tablet/phone, you can stream the shows from your PC to your device.
It's also compatible with Chromecast.
Sign up with plex here. When in the http://plex.tv/web/app interface you can add channels to your plex account, CBC being one of them. When the games are on just go to the CBC channel and cast the stream. If you have trouble casting with your pc download the plex app in the play store, it works much better.
Kodi media center, point it at a folder full of movies. Turns it into a personal netflix basically. Grabs cover art, actors, descriptions, organizes into ganres, ratings etc. On top of that it just has tons of media center uses in general. Check it out if your interested
...
It's a term commonly used to refer to a PC that's used in the living room, plugged into the TV, to play movies and games, like a console.
For example, Kodi (A.K.A XBMC) has "Open Source Home Theatre Software" in its title, despite it being used for couch gaming as much as watching movies.
And as my link showed, SteamOS is in fact designed for PCs used in living rooms for the purpose of playing movies and games on the TV while sitting on a couch. Not for desktops.
Kodi is a Media Center app that supports add-ons
Kodi itself doesn't provide the add-ons for free movies, those are made by third party developers and not supported by Team Kodi (or even on the official Kodi forum)
You are correct though in that Kodi with those third party add-ons can get free movies...
The simple fact that people keep associating Kodi with "free cable" or the like is really hurting it though...
They are totally ripping you off. All they do is load Kodi, and add a few third party video add-ons.
Kodi (formerly XBMC) is a VERY reputable media center application. Many of the boxes sold are simply a linux box (some kind of ARM, perhaps x86) with Kodi installed. Kodi can play pretty much anything with hardware acceleration, which is why these boxes work so well for their price.
Either way, you've got a supply chain model like this:
1) Company sells box with Kodi pre-installed and advertises Kodi as a feature (Kodi is quite against this: https://kodi.tv/the-piracy-box-sellers-and-youtube-promoters-are-killing-kodi/)
2) Guy in Canada imports these boxes, and "value adds" the plugins to stream TV / videos. These plugins are free, and you can find them with simple Googling. For obvious reasons, I'm not listing any. Guy then re-sells these boxes withe the add-ons advertised, listing TV for free due to the grey nature of downloading (not to be confused with distributing ie/ Torrents).
If you want to try out Kodi, just download it from their website, http://Kodi.tv. It is a media center program, and all built-in features are fully legal.
Sorry dude - but its you ;)
> accounts with their gmail email address and share the libraries I have set up just for them?
Did you actually create a PLEX account with these emails.. To access your plex, you can only share to a "plex" account... You can create plex account with whatever email address you want. But the account has be linked to a plex account, you can't just randomly share access with just any gmail or apple account.
When you do - they will get an email with link to plex.tv to create an account or sign into their already existing account
Both of my grandkids have access to my plex on their fire tablets, it took all of 2 minutes to setup.
So, you didn't actually upload your files anywhere. You just pointed the server application to the folders where your media is located.
You are running your own server. That's what the Plex Media Server is, and that's why you installed it. That server application is listening for any Plex clients to talk to it, so that the server can "serve up" your media.
Plex clients include: a web browser (http://plex.tv), your smartphone/tablet (buy the mobile app), your Smart TV (install the Plex app on your TV's hub/store), your media streaming box (Roku, FireTV, Android TV, etc.)
With the server running on your laptop, just open a client on any device to browse your library. Then pick something to watch.
With that said, if the files are on the machine that you're taking with you, then there's no need for the internet. You really only need an internet connection to download the metadata (movie posters, list of cast, year of release, movie ratings, TV show info, etc.).
If the files are on your laptop, and you're leaving it at home, then you do need to pay for Plex Pass. This will unlock features like a free mobile app to use, the ability to pin content to your portable devices, and for syncing certain content to the cloud for access outside of your home network.
Are you just using the default media sharing in windows? I don't have any experience with that so I wouldn't know how to solve your issue. I do know that I have never had this issue when using PS3 Media Server.
A benefit to also consider PS3 media server is it will also play unsupported files like MKV.
Sorry I don't know a solution to your specific problem though.
1) Download Universal Media Server on your mac/Linux or PC (It's free).
2) Install and choose the folder you want to stream media from.
3) Connect both your computer and PS4 to the same internet network.
4) open Media Player app on PS4 and you should see "Universal Media Server" on the menu, click on that and enjoy :)
I'm afraid this might not help but it seems there is a difference which codecs are supportet in firefox and other browsers (H.264 10bit is not supported in Firefox).
The only other thing that comes to mind is maybe hardware acceleration? Turned on by default in Chrome & Edge but not Firefox.
The thing that seems weird to me is that Firefox and Chrome give you problems but Edge doesn't, because Edge is based on Chromium so I would expect that Chrome & Edge behave similar and Firefox differently?
So either this helps or hopefully someone is so enraged by all the wrong things I said that they post the correct solution :)
Most of the contributors have their own donation pools. We mentioned everybody's in the last release post (See the Patreons and Github Sponsors section near the end of the post. They are also available on their profiles on Github, usually) but we never really advertise it, as it doesn't really feel proper for us to do so.
The OpenCollective fund is pretty well off at this point and is only ever used to pay for infrastructure, tools and such, so the current recommendation if you really want to donate is to find a developer who does work you find important and donate to them instead through either Github Sponsors or Patreon, if they have either of them.
€5 is the true cost, the Plex server app on Windows/Mac is totally free.
There is a premium offering, Plex Pass, but you don't need it to watch your films on the Chromecast.
Kodi is a solid program that will run over a normal windows/linux environment but will act very much like a roku or someething like that. Also plex is a solid option as well. https://kodi.tv/about/software
I'm hoping once 18 comes out they can really get back to the RERO announcement they made back in April 2016. Since that announcement they've actually taken more time to release the past 2 versions than the 10 before it. I get that 17 had a huge videoplayer update that took time and 18.0 will likely be UWP and 64bit on windows, but I'm still confused on why they would announce that prior to those two large changes in the next two versions. Maybe they'll get started on RERO now, or maybe we'll just pretend like that blog post never happened.
For reference, the average release between kodi A and Kodi J was 295 days between releases. For H, I, J the average was 220, so that's probably a more realistic expectation of current development. They announced RERO in April 2016, 2 months after Kodi J was released. The next major release, K, came 350 days after J, and L is currently 283 days past the release of K and we haven't even an official Alpha release yet (aside from nightlies). The idea was to have new releases with smaller updates every few months, but it looks like we're still very much on the once-a-year schedule.
I'm a big fan of RERO since Google, Firefox, and other browsers began using it but I'm not sure team Kodi has gotten the hang of it yet.
As far as I can gather:
Kodi is apparently quite relieved that the EU has definitely ruled "pirate boxes" illegal. If you're using one of these (and this probably the case if you're getting subscription channels at a reduced rate), just know that the service you're using is in breach of the law, and that there is no technical or other support.
there are many ways to go around flash in those places. Kodi has many addons and livestreamer also supports many sites allowing you to use a player of your choice
flash is cancer. keep it uninstalled.
I would recommend not using Playstation (3) Media Server as it is outdated, no longer supported, and has been succeeded by Universal Media Server.
Both require Java, and getting started is pretty much the same: Add your content directories (in the software) then access the local server from the Videos category on the XMB.
You can have as many devices as you want but only 15 devices using premium features. Also you can purchase an extended licence to allow for more devices
https://emby.media/premiere-ext.html
Copied from the emby forum
It is not a concurrent limit it is a limit of total devices using Premiere features over a several day period. So, it is intended to be a limit for total devices accessing your server for these features
Or if you have compatible hardware storing your files use emby - https://emby.media
https://emby.media/download.html
I should also note that you don't need to use the emby front end just the addin
I've no idea how you've acheived anything by just using the emby for Kodi addon.. the entire point of the addon ( as i understood it) is to talk to the Emby server and sync your Media library to the Kodi Database.. I've no idea what you've been doing but you'r enot using Emby as designed.. So why not go to /r/emby and have a read, hell .. why not even got to the source (https://emby.media/) and learn about the product itself.
I'm not even sure that the emby addon is doing anything in the way you've described your set up.. it seems redundant.. You're browsing your media via an SMB share i assume.. which has nothing to do with Emby.
Is that verbose enough for you?
If they are marked properly as trailers in the filename or if they are put in a trailers directory.
This should help you with making your JF public facing: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/networking/index.html
Recommend creating a new user and assigning a temp password that your friend can change after first login. It's also a good idea to leave the user accounts hidden from the main login page.
You can support the project as a whole by donating to https://opencollective.com/jellyfin. These funds go towards infrastructure costs, subscriptions, development devices for the team, etc. This goes towards the project as a whole, but on principle we don't take any money from OpenCollective for ourselves.
Some members of the team have set up patreon or github sponsors if you'd like to support somebody more directly. A handful of them are listed on the 10.6 Release Announcement, however several more have set up donation methods since then. I'm not sure if we have an up to date list of who all has donations open or not.
Jellyfin Already added this and way more features Plex has failed to innovate on, and it's free and open source unlike plex and emby.
I switched from Plex to Jellyfin recently and it's incredible, def check it out if you're fed up with Plex. It's got it's own quirks, but holy shit some of the biggest gripes I had with Plex are just gone, like it has a decent music app (Gello) and has the subtitle track names and info.
I was even able to run plex and Jellyfin at the same time while I was deciding if I wanted to make the switch.
for docker, you do not want to copy files in to docker.. when you reboot it, all files go Booof.
in docker, you should mount a "folder" that is outside of docker image, on a HDD or NAS somewhere, that keeps the files.
when docker jellyfin startup, it will mount that folder and it will have access to the items inside that folder.

>I know the Xbox is probably keen to try and get you to run everything through some sort of DLNA network with your xbox one, but I own a mac and not some sort of windows driven PC, so that sort of idea is pointless to me, unless I buy an app from the app store
I can't help you with the crashing, but I can help you free yourself from USB sticks for FREE while still using OSX. Extremely simple to setup/use
Pick one, lately Plex is my choice for no particular reason.
You could always subscribe to a monthly plan ($4.99 - https://plex.tv/subscription/about) until they release the app for all users, then just buy the version then and cancel your sub.
I have a yearly subscription on old pricing. Wish I had jumped on lifetime as I use Plex so much I don't mind supporting them. But now at $150 its a bit much.
Plex!
Plex is really a companion channel to a PC app. It lets you stream media from your hard drive, via your wifi connection. It also lets you queue up [youtube videos]( /r/fullmoviesonyoutube/) to watch on your tv.
It has more features than that, but I think it's worth having just for that.
I would like to comment on the Roku. I got a refurbished one on woot a while back and love, specifically for Plex. It lets you stream all of your media from a desktop/laptop to the TV.
The article said Microsoft helped the team develop the UWP version of Kodi.
> In fact, with the help and guidance of Microsoft some of our developers started to work in top secret on getting this a reality.
Also, Microsoft gave the the Kodi team the opporunity to present at Microsoft Build event about the success of Kodi on the Windows Store.
https://kodi.tv/article/kodi-presenting-microsoft-build-2017
Doesn't seem like MS is about to swoop down and kick them out considering they seem to like what they're doing and support them.
https://kodi.tv/a-brand-new-look-for-future-kodi-versions/ > Today will mark a new milestone in the history of the project as we announce our two new default skins. Yes you read it correct, two new skins. The first one is called Estuary...
Yes, it's just a skin. There may be other updates that improved performance, but what you are talking about is just a skin.
Literally one week after Kodi posted about these boxes on their website.
I own one of these boxes (bought it before the real Android TV was really a thing, for the HEVC-capable chipset) and let me say these work like shit. No updates, if something goes wrong you're f*cked unless you have a good knowledge of Android modding / hacking. The promise of free TV is actually a modded Kodi (buggy version) loaded with a bunch of shady add-ons without any support, who will just stop working without a warning. I could go on and on describing how shitty the software is.
The author of this article is completely misinformed. It actually just looks like a very nice marketing campaign for these pirated boxes resellers. I can't believe CBC won't take this misleading post down very soon...
I am having the exact same issue... Nothing changed. Updated to verify. No change. Same issue. I can connect directly, but using plex.tv fails every time. Remote access is set and verified. Security is set to preferred.
All accounts are authenticated though plex.tv. So even if you only use the Web Application that comes bundled with Plex Media Server 2FA will protect that account.
If you do not have a plex.tv account and use your Plex Media Server unauthenticated then there is nothing for 2FA to protect, since both the server and web application is not logged in.
If I'm reading you correctly, you are saying that the login process takes place completely outside of CloudFlare, and, consequently, nothing could have been leaked.
I just did a login and it looks like username and password are posted directly to: https://plex.tv/users/sign_in.json
While it's probably possible that this address is configured not to pass through CloudFlare, the only information Plex offered suggests that it still might. Are you being optimistic, or do you know that it is exempt?
(Also, thanks anonymous Redditors for the downvotes... is this not a legitimate line of questioning? Too negative?)
If your goal is to have access to your media library on the go, Plex might be a better choice. It also allows you to access your itunes library as well.
But if you just want to run a vpn server, you should be able to install a vpn server (like openvpn) from macports or homebrew for free.
Movies? Music? Games? Pictures? ...what are you asking here? Games need a modded system, the rest, just convert to ps3 compatable video/ audio/ picutre file, place on HDD. Or.. http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/ Use this and just make life easy...
I recently made the switch from Serviio to Universal Media Server and have not looked back.
EDIT: Here is a comparison
Try this:
If you are able to access the emby forums (not clear if you are banned from their forums from your post) at https://emby.media/community/ you should do that, since the devs regularly post on there as well and respond to users fairly quickly.
FYI, Emby also collects (and sells) informations about you : https://emby.media/privacy.html, though probably less than Plex since they don't mention metadata and any application except their website(s).
The devs hang out on Matrix (details on the contact page - https://jellyfin.org/contact/) which is a good place to have a chat about big changes and direction of things. But any help is welcome and anyone can dive in and submit PRs on GitHub.
For larger changes it’s probably worth mentioning it on Matrix first (but certainly not a requirement) to check there is nothing in progress that would cause conflicts.
We’re a friendly bunch and happy to chat.
First of all - yuck, sort them in folders. Much more organized
As per documentation, Movie library allows dumping every file in one folder without subfolders, but you have to have folders for TV Shows.
Jellyfin!! ! It was forked from emby before emby started charging for some services. It has an active dev team and they have done some great things with the program! Also 100% free and opensource.
There's a lot of users that go the Cloudflare route, there's a lot of us that self host our own reverse proxy, and there's others that combine the two because they like their own control but want the benefits of Cloudflare. It mostly depends on what method you want to use.
Personally, I run a nginx reverse proxy, but it's on a different server from my Jellyfin instance. This is because I'm bouncing half a dozen different services through it, so it's a dedicated VM instead of shared with one of the services.
You may want to take a look at our docs to see what other popular options are out there for local hosting
It seems this has been an issue since Plex moved from paid app to in-app purchase. I will ask directly in Plex forum, since there is no email address for Plex support. Plex only offer support through their forum (https://plex.tv/contact)
