It's right there in the Witcher website my friend
>Switcher is coming in 2019
The underrated geniuses at CDPRojekt are always one steap ahead
Officially known: RTX, HDR, "visual improvements" (may just be the outcome of the former two), technical improvements, faster loading times.
Rumored: improvements from the most popular Witcher 3 mods are carried over to the remaster (creator of HD Reworked project was approached by CDPR to work on the remaster.)
What do you mean? It's listed among the rewards on official site for TB:
> GWENT in-game assets – player avatars, player titles, 5 premium kegs, 20 brand new cards for GWENT
Same in the GoG client.
Yes it will be, it is called next-gen but it will also be for ps4 and xbox one.
It's not a rumour. It's officially confirmed by CDPR. :)
https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
Personally, I'm close to finishing Blood and Wine, but I'll wait a while before I return to the game. I've found that if I consume media I really love too many times, it can ruin the experience for me. For example, I've watched the LOTR trilogy so many times, it just doesn't emotionally impact the way it used to (and should).
It's not as if there's a shortage of entertainment out there.
>Developed to take advantage of the most powerful gaming hardware, the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content.

Witcher 3's "next gen" update will include:
> ...a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times.
So I'd say just visual and technical improvements.
It’ll work fine but if you’re getting a series x and don’t mind waiting, CDPR is releasing a next-gen update: https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
No release date yet though.
> Developers CD Projekt Red announced the news today, saying the updated game will be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, featuring a “range of visual and technical improvements.” These include faster loading times and ray tracing graphics. The upgrades will apply to the base game, says Projekt Red, as well as to both of its expansions (Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine) and all other “extra content.”
The link is technically to thewitcher.com but yeah the websites are all clearly legit upon the mildest inspection and this is also a website owned by CDPR. It's fine to be sceptical of things on the internet or anywhere really but critical thinking goes both ways.
There are no season/event limited cards, you can get all the cards in game, altho you need to buy Thronebreaker(on GOG) in order to be able to unlock premium/animated versions of 20 cards, that came with that game/expansion(you can craft regular versions of those cards without buying TB tho).
As for cosmetics(titles, avatars, borders), I am not sure if you can unlock everything that was available during open beta, as the reward system changed with Homecoming release and we didn't see new seasonal reward trees yet. Most titles can be unlocked through sesonal achivements from what I seen, but I am not sure about old avatars/borders. The only thing you can't get anymore for sure is a Pioneer title from closed beta, if you didn't participate.
You will get the free update: -

We’re also getting ray tracing and other unspecified visual improvements! Here’s the official announcement: https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
It is coming to the ps5 and series x.
https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
It will be playable on PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility, but I don't know that the free upgrade will be ready day one.
https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
Do you have a source for that?
Here you can find reward structure for daily rounds won(including Reward Points). It is the main source of Reward Points. Getting at least 2 per day is very easy, and you can get up to 6 if you play a lot.
You can also get Reward Points from various Contracts(check your profile), from leveling(1 point per level), at the end of each season (depending on your rank) and from some events, like Faction Challenge.
I haven't played it much myself but I heard that this month seasonal mode is a great place to complete a lot of different contracts quickly, due to its nature(playing much more cards per game than usual), contracts that require you to trigger x number of abilities like bleed, harmony etc.
You can also earn around ~55 points from Thronebreaker related achivements. So if you are interesed in spending some money on the game, Thronebreaker, beside being a great game on its own, provides tons of rewards for Gwent - bunch of cards, Premium kegs, various cosmetics and mentioned reward points.
As /u/KPinJo said, it may be best to actually start with beginners guide(updated version was recently posted on TeamRankstar site), as the game changed a lot since beta, in some aspects its like a new game.
The guide should answer most of your questions and explain most stuff, including new ranking system, which changed completely(R30 is lowest rank, while R0 is the highest and grants you access to Pro Rank).
Meta snapshots are rather outdated now, since today's update, but new decklists should start popping up soon, it may be best to check some of the streamers for decks, what they play, what works and what doesn't after update.
One more thing, since you are back, is that you may wanna take a look at the Thronebreaker if you haven't already, its a single player RPG game with combat in form of Gwent battles, with a great story. Its a very good game on its own but it also provides tons of rewards for your Gwent online account. You get 5 premium kegs, all 20 of Thronebreaker cards, regular versions of those card are automatically unlocked upon purchase and you can find premium versions in game in hidden chests. Regular versions can be crafted in game, but cost 4x than normal but premium versions are exclusive for TB owners. There are also several borders and avatars and you can get ~60 reward points from TB related achievements that's roughly equivalent of 30 kegs).
There's an FAQ on the redemption page.
>I play GWENT on Steam or mobile; can I still receive the 4 cards that are part of the WitcherCon digital goodie bundle? >Yes! To receive the 4 cards, simply log in on this website using the same GOG.COM account you use to play GWENT on your chosen platform.
>I haven’t played GWENT before — can I still claim the 4 cards and then use them in-game? >You can. Your cards will be associated with your GOG.COM account, so all you need to do is make sure that you log in to GWENT with the same GOG.COM account details used to redeem your digital goodies. Your cards will be waiting for you in the card library.
Edit: had to modify the URL to appease the automod gods. Hopefully this one works.

You got like 2 days and a bit to claim the goodies
Everyone.
> The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Pure awesomeness!
One thing, "Next" button in prev chapter is not linked - got me waiting 2 days for this piece of quality content ;)
Btw, can't stop imaging Krathi "hatefull vermin" like those:
https://thewitcher.com/en/monster-slayer/news/39817/monster-week-wererat
I tried to find some evidence of this and didn't find anything. The official patch notes claim "Performance Mode enables dynamic resolution scaling (from 1080p up to 4K)" https://thewitcher.com/en/news/12581/upgrade-patch-1-60-for-xbox-one-x-is-out-additional-ps4tm-pro-patch-coming-soon
Even better to think about if anyone here is still doubting to purchase this even at this price,
This same game will have a Enhanced Edition Next Gen Upgrade coming to Q2 2022, for free to all current existing Witcher 3 owners.
Along with that upgrade comes with:
- Ray Tracing Support - For PC Hardware that has Nvidia RTX 20 series Turing or above as for AMD Hardware RX 6000 RDNA 2 GPUs or Above
- Faster Loading Times - If your PC is equipped with a SSD
- Enhanced Texture Quality
Also more info: The entire remaster of Witcher 3 is being worked by a game dev called Saber Interactive, they are responsible for most recent Remasters from certain games that we are seeing like the Crysis remastered Trilogy, and if you want to see how good they are at remastering games, you can watch this amazing Digital Foundry video about Crysis 2 Remastered.
Now just imagine Witcher 3 receiving that same treatment! Honestly it is the main reason why i am holding back from replaying it yet. Can't wait to replay Witcher 3 when the Enhanced Edition finally releases.
If the Witcher 3 isn't considered open world then I have no idea what open world even is.
But anyways, the game even describes itself as open world on their website so I am going to not agree with your assessment of it.
Except you pay what you want.
It's likely most ppl pay exactly the required value, but i'm sure there were enthusiasts that payed more.
Also it begs the question: If it's essentially pre-orders, why not do exactly that? Put up pre-orders on their site instead or redirecting to Kickstarter.
Cyberpunk 2077:
Complain to CDPR calling it next generation update. https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
Witcher 3 is to be upgraded to DirectX 12 to take advantage of RT, DLSS, newer engine, etc.
They have this https://thewitcher.com/dk/en/monster-slayer coming out soon-ish, I think they have some early release / beta now. I still see some people play Pokemon GO, so this might be a steady revenue-stream with how many seem to enjoy The Witcher - and kinda free publicity with the netflix series, season 2 coming later this year.
Just looking at their financial statement, I don't think CDPR is going to die anytime soon at least.
Yup it was to be launched earlier this year, but got delayed because of Cyberpunk 2077. Check this out.
Mmm haven't thought about that. Do you know if there available on Amazon? Would love to read those in my kindle.
There will also be an Early Access for Android Users which you can sign up for here: https://thewitcher.com/pl/pl/monster-slayer#preregister
From what I've played, the game actually utilizes augmented reality moreso than say Pokemon GO or Wizards Unite.
Their website says "The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4."
Would absolutely love it if it did get ported though. Definite buy.
They confirmed ray tracing and faster loading times a while back
https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
> Developed to take advantage of the most powerful gaming hardware, the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content
Nobody is calling it a remaster, why would it be a remaster? It's just a next-gen update. It's quite possibly just so the game can run at 60fps and/or have ray-tracing, further draw distance, quite possibly increased grass density, and the likes of it. You know, just so the game put the better resources of next-gen consoles to use.
EDIT: https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
They've previously said this update is coming to PC as well for free for current owners:
https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
>The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Crap, good point thank you! I remember seeing the official announcement here and their original wording was misleading. Now it's clear the game and DLC is only free for Digital Owners, otherwise you could just sell the cartridge and still own the game. I'll update the post to make sure that's more clear.
Let me explain some things, since you're obviously confused.
This subreddit is related to the standalone Gwent, i.e., the game whose full name is Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. That's what the conetet should be directly related to.
The submission by the OP is from another game, namely The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Therefore, as it's a screenshot from another game, it is not directly related to the standalone Gwent, and as such does not belong here, as per the rule 2, specifying what the relevant content is.
They apparently also have some kind of "Cyberpunk 2076" in the plans already (it is the mystery other AAA title that was on their road map for years), a multiplayer spin-off slated to release a couple years after 2077, and I recall it was confirmed earlier this year to include microtransactions, so there is a reasonable chance it will be a GaaS. More so considering this interview from November 2017.
A Witcher mobile game was recently announced as well, but there does not seem to be much information about it yet. It will be free to play, however, so unless the game is completely free, monetization of some sort is to be expected.
The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
I would recommend holding out on Witcher 3 a little more if you could, because there's a next-gen update coming to the game in 2021. Those on PC will get the update free.
You only need to look at news articles from the time, or the now removed patch notes to see how many fixes they were issuing.
For the games in particular, there is a timeline on the official site here. There are some inconsistencies even between the games, however, for example TW1 says at one point that it is 5 years after the books, but then also that it is in 1270, while the Rivian pogrom (end of the books' part of the story) is in 1268.
These comments didn't age well lol
The Witcher is getting next gen graphical improvements including ray tracing. DLSS hasn't been confirmed yet but it would be a **huge** selling point for me if it was. It'll be rereleased on next gen and all current platforms are getting a free update.
Awesome! Same setup here, this makes me want to replay that game, one of my all time favourites. I’ll wait for the next gen upgrade though... https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
Do you mean an HD texture pack for Valhalla?
I know that Witcher 3 is getting another official graphical upgrade for next gen: https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
I spent a lot of time messing around with reshaders and used the HD reworked mod in witcher 3, which made the game look stunning, and I did that earlier this year. By comparison I don't think Valhalla's graphics are technically that impressive for a 2020 game.
https://thewitcher.com/en/witcher3
Official Witcher 3 site says it is a story expansion and mentions DLC as a separate thing (since it is).
Check here too
https://wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Witcher_3:_Wild_Hunt_%E2%80%93_Blood_and_Wine
And you know what I meant, they improved drastically on a technical level like sequels tend to do. By your logic Halo 5 isn't a new game because it reviewed lower than previous entries.
Sure is - "The next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content." - Source: https://thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
I bought it from Steam and I believe you get all the same rewards as with buying it from GOG, as long as you link it to your GOG account that is associated with Gwent. You link it from within the game by clicking on the "Multiplayer" tab in the menu. Here's the link to the extras; you just need to link it with the account that is associated with your GOG account.

The story alone makes the $20 worth it

Edit: Misspelling and appending
As they've said, literally ray tracing and faster loading times as well as a "range of visual and technical improvements".
No one said it is just checking a box to implement the features in the game, so cool. And Insomniac just provided a video to compare the upgrades with the original. No day and night differences there either as far as I'm concerned, even with the updated model and lighting.
But yes, on other systems, it is as easy to check a box for upgraded textures and higher resolution or to change your resolution to get better FPS for your hardware. Where those higher resolution textures are available
Again, most of the work was done for Miles Morales, which you have to pay for the get the remastered original. I imagine the remastered original is the same game with the updated engine and updated assets used in Miles Morales.
Have you developed anything before?
It’s coming only in 2021 - but seems like a significant update, including ray tracing. As someone who hasn’t played the game yet, I’m likely going to wait.
My personal opinion is that a lot of people confuse between:
A simple increase in settings - for example resolution increase
Update - improvements such as frame rate
Remaster - changing the assets
Remake - building the game from scratch
I am happy for people to charge for 3 and 4

The term Remaster should already tell you what you can expect. Updated assets, not new ones. This is not a remake, after all. The Witcher 3 get's the same treatment, except for free for previous owners.

The thing I wonder how are they going to handle "faster loading times" on PC. It would obviously require an SSD but we know that consoles have different technology now and it might be too early for RTX IO or DirectStorage. Hopefully, we will see DLSS as well.

It means your boss is an idiot.
The line comes from a Netflix show titled "The Witcher." I've never seen an episode but a brief google search says that at one point, two characters, A and B, were captured by a group of elves. The elves do not kill A and B and, appearing to be grateful, A begins to compose a song memorializing the event but, in so doing, A twists the facts and misrepresents what really happened. In other words, A is lying. B asks A: "Where is your newfound respect?" A replies "respect doesn't make history."
Your boss is injecting vapid TV dialogue into your business setting. Ignore it. Your boss is an idiot.
> for something like five years (game storyline)
Not five years, more like about half to one year depending on the player's choices (conversations in TW3 seem to assume one year), although the games are not very consistent regarding the timeline. Using the one from CDPR's site, and this wiki, some of the important events are:
Where is it stated that TW2 is well over a year after TW1? The timeline on the official site says the games are less than a year apart, and they do not spend all that time together. If there is an inconsistency, it is that content in TW2 implies the time between the games is shorter (as the first assassination attempt shown at the end of TW1 is said to have been a month earlier, although there could have been a time skip to explain this).
She did not, although she did not talk about them, either. Also, the second game (where Geralt finds out about his past for the first time) is less than 1 year after the first one, see the timeline here. Until Geralt's own memories (about the time between the books and games) began returning in Assassins of Kings, main characters apparently thought that Yennefer died while trying to save Geralt in the Rivian pogrom (end of the books), while Ciri left the Witcher world and never returned. I would say Triss' admission of taking advantage of Geralt is a result of feeling guilty after learning that Yennefer is in fact alive (which happens at the end of the second game), but having conscience does not make one an objectively horrible person.
About the "deep connection", it is actually Geralt who says this in the prologue of TW1: "I can't explain it but I feel a bond when we speak. I know you were important…" Then they are interrupted before Triss could answer with a complete sentence.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I bought the game in the summer of 2017 on a whim - I added Watch Dogs 2 to my basket and Amazon recommended The Witcher 3 and I just bought it which is not something I usually do. I still wasn't sure if I was going to like it a couple of hours into playing it but then I got completely drawn in by it and by the end of the summer it had become my favourite game of all time by a mile.

I enjoy video games, but no game has ever made me care about fictional characters as much as The Witcher 3. Usually I play a game once and then sell it. Not this one. I was on my second play through by December 2017, taking it slowly this time. I didn't even bother to learn Gwent the first time I played it - I couldn't be bothered. But second time around I explored everything, collected every Gwent card, armour set and lost myself in the incredibly detailed and immersive world that CDPR had created. Now I even find myself collecting Witcher Funko Pops, statues, buying artwork and so on - that's what it did to me! Not that I'm complaining, of course. I can see myself replaying it many more times in the future and discovering things I missed the previous times. Like you say, it is a masterpiece.

I haven't read the books yet either but they are on my to-do list. I also wanted to play the first two games but I prefer playing on console with a joypad and I couldn't get them to work properly. I hope one day that remastered versions will be released on consoles.

If you enjoyed Gwent, do check out Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

Good luck on the path.
Sorry but Gwent rewards are GOG exclusive. On Thronebreaker's website they say that Gwent rewards are for GOG only: https://thewitcher.com/en/thronebreaker-witchertales Also on Steam store it says nothing about Gwent rewards in bonus items section. And there is no way to connect Steam to GOG.
If you consider spending money on the game, beside starter pack I recommend looking into Thronebreaker its a single player RPG game in Witcher world with combat in form of Gwent battles. Its a standalone game but provides tons of rewards for your Gwent account(premium kegs, bunch of cards, lots of reward points from TB related achievements and some cosmetics). And its a great game on its own :)
As for you deck question, here is a fairly standard Woodland deck. Strong, straightforward and fairly cheap to build as it uses only 2 legendary cards(Nalfgar can be replaced with something like Alzur's Double Cross or Speartip: Asleep to make it even cheaper). You ready have two strong cards, Ozzrel and Ghoul from starting decks. Try to get bronzes form opening kegs and use you scraps to craft gold cards, starting with Old Speartip, Golyat, Alpha Werewolf, Crones.
Not for now, but February 15th we will have an event quest to hunt a stronger version of the Leshen (the Ancient Lessen) in group with ur hunter.
https://thewitcher.com/en/news/25840/geralt-of-rivia-arrives-in-monster-hunter-world
So just have to wait a little more.
From the official site:
But there are some inconsistencies with these in the games, as well as with the books. In any case, the years of 1270, 1271, and 1272 should be right.
Those are keys from Xbox bundles. It's rare exception, but yeah you can get good deals for keys taken from bundles.
In most cases keys for consoles are very different from how they work on Steam and even on PC market Steam is quite unique, sites like GoG don't provide ability for keys. Not sure about Origin, but no one sells Origin keys for third party games, so that would likely be no. (The Witcher 3 Expansion packs have ability to exchange GoG key for Origin key - if you bought base game there).
On consoles, publishers themselves can't sell them (all keys will be controlled by Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo). This leads to tighter control of sales, which means higher prices and not sold on many sites. So yeah they exists, for X1/WIN10 games that are play anywhere.
Windows Store only games generally don't have keys at all (very limited number of keys provided only for "promotional uses"). With single exception of Microsoft's own Age of Empires 1.
