I used to spend hours doing complex beauties with Kustom but now I lost interest. Now I just run Evie Launcher with my 8 most used apps On a single screen. Apple gets a lot of flak for having nothing to do on the home screen but now I'm on a stage where I want to spend the least amount of time outside of my apps so I have the most no frills experience I could make.
Btw Evie is great. Linkme: Evie.
Edit: Evie. You always miss this one, bot. Bad bot.
Evie launcher should be on the list, it's one of the best launchers I've used, simple, but not too simple, with enough to customize without getting too complex. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut
Evie Launcher. It's simple and looks great without needing a ton of customization. The universal search (similar to Spotlight on Mac) makes navigating the phone a lot faster and easier.
After months of nothing exciting to share I tried Evie Launcher and I love it. It's very very barebones and the main selling point is the universal search bar on top. You get no traditional app drawer but a side drawer à la Action Launcher and it's been quite smooth and haven't crashed even once on my shitty hardware.
Linkme: Evie
Edit: Play store bot dropped the ball: Link
I use Evie.
By far the cleanest home screen. Literally nothing is there. You can throw out everything that comes by default. One swipe up, I get a dense app drawer. Now this is from my own experience, when you reduce the icon size and try to pack more icons with labels side by side, every launcher creates some jarring visual errors. Evie does not.
Niagara is my backup launcher.
Speaking of changing launcher most people will suggest you nova. Its pretty good. Big fan.. But give this a try.
My new fav.
Evie Launcher

Here you go. I just installed it 2 days ago and I'm loving it. Used Evie for years but I think it was time to move on.
try Evie launcher. maybe you will like it. it's clean and gets the job done. I was using it for couple months now and it feels like it should be default Google launcher.
I'm using Evie Launcher (with the Pixel icon pack). Evie offers three different shapes for folders: circle, square and "squircle"!
Evie has some subtle UI gestures that make it the fastest launcher I've used (I'm still a big fan of Action Launcher but Evie just edges it out for speed in day-to-day use).
In a quest for an alternative for Nova Prime, I found some suggested Evie over at r/androidapps.
Its kind of resembles Action Launcher or ASAP Launcher. Its 100% free which is nice. It's also capable of icon theming. There is also a Google box built in where you can type. As you type, it will start displaying your apps or yelp or Google Search......etc.

Well it didn't link correctly. Use my link above.
It's from this launcher, after installing, you go to settings, enable the dock and there you can set the number of columns, the size of the icons, the visibility of the background and whether or not you want the name of the apps to show below. It's a great launcher in my opinion, allows you get a super minimalist look for your home screen.
Depends on the launcher, you could use Nova and get the Google Now Companion app. Or by just using Evie Launcher
Thats all i know at least
Hey, I just found one app that fit both of your requirements. Its Evie . Number count work on messenger and Gmail as I checked, however Messenger lite won't. You can use Miui Icons, but it must be change manually (you need to change apps one by one). Hope you like it!
Maybe try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut&hl=ru. I use it on my Xperia XZ and it is much faster and responsive than MS launcher and than the stock Xperia Home.
Good deal. Worth a try. If people are interested in another option, Evie Launcher is my favorite and it is free. Light weight and the app drawer is quick to use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut

I've been using this ever since I found it.
I like having a minimal launcher and this one is so nice for it.
Some launchers give you the option of "locking" your home screen against accidental modification. I use Evie Launcher myself. Very handy as I have kids who used to scramble my screen all the time.
Test out Evie Launcher. It does the vertical scrolling (both in a grid and an actual list), notification counts, and is pretty clean and simple generally.
It does also has a persistent search bar though, because a big thing about this launcher is the ability to search through your phone, the web, and all your apps right from the home screen. So if the search bar is bothering you, I don't think that can be disabled.
Many people like Nova launcher, too, which offers very extensive customization. The good thing is that you can definitely set it up to behave like you want it, but it might be a bit more complicated to set it up and it has a lot of features that you probably won't need
Evie Launcher if you want the same kind of simplicity. Similar to the Pixel launcher, though the aesthetic might not be to your taste. Has a limited amount of customisation (icon pack support, choose between grid or list view in drawer, icon size, etc.).
If you want to replicated the GNL or Pixel Launcher, you can use Nova launcher. It has lots of options. I like this launcher but I wouldn't recommend it my mum for example.
This app isn't quite vanilla, but give it a shot. I don't use it because its lack of a dock bothered me but your comment has convinced me to try it again.

I always use Evie Launcher. It's lightweight, doesn't overwhelm you with unnecessary features and has all the essentials. It has a very fast search function similar on iPhones by swiping down. I really recommend trying it.
according to their Google play store details I don't thunk they are currently working on any update. Their last update came on June 13, 2019.
Evie is a minimalist launcher with a tiny footprint that runs really smoothly. Most of the feature list sounds pretty standard, but it's more about how it feels than what it does. Evie just feels good.
Sure, technically there's no problem with Nova Launcher. I just strongly recommend to give Evie a try first -- it's a rock solid, fast, lightweight launcher just like Nova used to be before it was overloaded with features.
Launcher is an app which will replace your home screen and let you do things which doesn't provided by default launchers.
Some are following:
Some launchers for low end devices:
Evie launcher : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut
This is only one i can confirm to have folders support. But there are plenty on Play store.
They're pretty popular, I know a few people with them. I think my P20 lite (purely for the headphone jack!) is great bar the fact you can't alphabetise your apps without using a third party launcher. I use Evie.
Only big downside I can think of is if you want to root your phone you currently essentially can't. Huawei bootloaders are locked, they used to give codes out if you requested them but they've stopped this service. There are a few dubious websites who claim to sell unlock codes but they're pretty expensive, last time I looked they were $50+.
Try out Evie Launcher.
Super fast, really simple and straight forward.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut
The way it's arranged by default has a few apps on the bottom but no Google bar or anything like that.
i've gotten used to stock but if can't get on with stock i always plump for Evie (note - i always have minimalist configurations so not to everyone's taste i'm sure!) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut
Nice. Is there a Pro/Premium version as is the case with other Launchers or just one version from the PlayStore as shown here.
Hey! I use a separate launcher than the default one, it lets you add rows and columns to your home screen. This is the one I use, called Evie.
For anybody else who want a google launcher kinda look without all the shit that nova includes, try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut&hl=en
very small ram usage and just the right amount of customization options. Plus the search option is really good even compared to the 3rd party add-ons that nova provides.
No prob! There are more limited/simpler launchers like Evie Launcher. I always recommend it for friends who don't wanna bother much with tech.
I've been using Evie Launcher the past few months. Though it doesn't have a whole slew of extra customization options, there's something about its simplicity and understated intuitiveness that I find really charming.
Evie Labs has responded to a user's one-star review that references Verizon spyware deal:
Well, it depends on which phone you have.
Manufacturers like Samsung use a modified version of Android OS for their phones, and the performance may be inferior in comparison to pure, stock Android (which you'll find in devices such as the Pixel and Essential). Unfortunately, some companies just like to add bloat and various gimmicks to phones that may affect performance and/or battery life. Google doesn't control what manufacturers do with their own version of Android other than providing the base of the Android OS. That's why phones by Google and a few other companies may be smoother than the others' because they provide stock (or close-to-stock) experience.
It might also be safe factoring in the fact that Android is highly customizable, because you could have custom launchers like Evie Launcher, third-party keyboards such as Swiftkey, audio visualizers such as MUVIZ, apps like PowerLine, Cornerfly, etc. (you get the point) running in the background (no matter how little performance or battery life they take) - they could affect how smooth the performance might be.
Apps such as Nova Launcher help with making your home menu seem smoother, but wanting a "smoother" performance outside of that would depend on your phone, i.e. Google Pixel is super smooth and has no noticeable lags, whatsoever - for me. You can also change animations in Developer Settings to the lowest (.5) for the fastest performance or bump it up for a better use of animations (to make it seem smoother).
Currently enjoying Evie Launcher
Nothing too special, but I dig it.
Wallpaper, can't remember where I got it from.
Looks like Evie Launcher
I'm partial to Evie: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut
You really should give it a try.
Try Evie. Not a lot of features, but just the ones I need.

I think it's called Shortcut Launcher. It looks really nice, too bad it's not available in my country :(
The question is silly IMO. However, I was a long time Nova Launcher user and I recently switched to Evie. I quite like it.

I moved on to Android earlier this year, it was very easy transition and to be honest quite a relief after dealing with the current state of Windows Mobile.
I bought a Xiaomi Mi5 and unlocked the bootloader to install a custom rom (Resurrection Remix), which I would highly recommend doing as it gives you a lot more control over your phone.
I use Evie as my launcher and KWGT to add my own custom widgets with a minimalist icon pack to emulate the simplicity of the Windows Phone UI.

Note: I made Evie Launcher which deals with many of these issues.
Wallpaper changer doesn't need any support, since any app can change the wallpaper.
Shortcuts is done by exposing a broadcast receiver that other apps can call with the information needed to create the shortcut.
Notification dots as done by some implementations was in a huge variety of ways to expose the information, but now people should just go through [NotificationChannel
](https://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/NotificationChannel.html#setShowBadge(boolean\)).
Icon Packs generally adhere to the standard laid out here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649891
My app listens for apps that follow this standard to reap the benefits of icon packs that were made for other launchers.
You could use a similar standard for animations.
Really, the whole concept is to just lay out standards for third-parties to adhere to, and you search for any app adhering to that standard and parse them for the relevant information.

If it is your first time, I'd say go with something small and simple. I use Evie because it is customizable, but not too detailed that it'd give you a headache. Nova Launcher is also very good, especially if you're curious about what it can do. The only downside to it that I can see is that it might not be for someone coming from iOS.
Lawnchair and Lawnchair 2 (the latter cannot be downloaded from Play Store) are fun and have lots of features. I've had Smart Launcher 5 in my wishlist for a while. You can get CPL (Customized Pixel Launcher) or Action Launcher.
You can also try Poco Launcher 2.0 or Microsoft Launcher.
A launcher with very minimalistic ui is Niagara Launcher.
You can't really go wrong with the launchers because it is just a matter of taste. My advice is start with Evie and experiment with other ones until you find the one that clicks.

copied into KLWPYou should try Evie Launcher for basic launcher customizability, or if you want much more customizability then go for Nova Launcher
You should also try Reddit Sync. Don't be let down by how it looks once it has downloaded, so just fiddle a lot with the settings because a lot of things can be changed.
The default Samsung texting app (along with the settings page & quicksettings) change with the theme that you download. There are a lot of themes so you should mess a bit with them.
Samsung's notes app is a lot better than Google's. I highly recommend against using Google's (unless you need the website)

Icon pack: Axis http://apkbot.com/apps/axis-icon-pack-v4-1-2.html

Try Evie launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut&hl=en I've installed it today and for now seems a nice free alternative to nova. I also recommend Smart Launcher Pro
We're make a minimalist launcher with an app drawer indexed-by-letter, but unfortunately not broken up by them. Our flagship feature is a powerful app-oriented search engine. If you decide to give it a shot, let me know what you think!
It used to worth it before Evie became a thing.
