All three designs are very solid. I enjoy Rodan's and Ghidrah's, but considering both aren't huge departures from their traditional designs, this is the only one that really intrigues me.

If you're lukewarm about the changes, at least keep in mind that Mothra's traditional design has never been super popular among Americans. In his book on the Godzilla series, film historian, David Kalat writes that a monster like Mothra could only be designed and taken seriously (at least initially) by non-Western audiences, and that of the early Godzilla Treadmaster toys, Mothra was the only figure to be discontinued because of her lack of popularity.

Not saying you have to appreciate this new take or anything, but it makes sense that they would depart from her classic design in order to gain some international appeal.

The Dolby site shows totally different "Atmos Equipped" theatres than Fandango does when I search.

How do I know who is right?

And how do I know which showings are Atmos? For instance, Dolby lists a nearby theatre as having Atmos and also 7.1 types of audio. Is the 2d or 3d showing the atmos one? Or both?

Edit: I see on Fandango it shows the features of each individual showing. All of the ATMOS showings in the area have already moved on to X-men, no more for Godzilla. :( It's not the whole theatre that is equipped, usually just one screen.

I bought them from a local hobbyshop back in 07. They are from Far East Monsters, a now dead Cleveland company (I live a few miles from there) that was going to make many of the various monsters but yeah, dead. Godzilla is on amazon for half price right now. From there youtube page shows both my figures in action. There sounds are from the original ghidorah and the 60's godzilla, can't say which movie one off hand.

Right then. If your University has it (going off the username: Georgia Tech student?) I would heartily recommend David Kalat's book, which gives a rundown of the production history of each Godzilla movie.

Steve Ryfle's book is also a good place to find info, especially on the earlier movies (and specifically the original, 1954 film, if that's what you're looking for).

Also, if there's any way you can get a hold of the Criterion edition of the original film, the commentary tracks (also by Kalat) are very informative as to the way the Japanese original, and the 1956 Americanization, came about.

Define Affordable. The cost has a pretty big range depending on which figure you are going for (from about $60 to $250).

Using just Amazon, I found the 2001 Godzilla for $60, which is the lowest I could do there. I'm not seeing much cheaper on eBay, but I also just performed a cursory search. You could also search the "Super Articulated Kaiju Collector" group on Facebook. They usually have people selling their stuff at lower prices, but they will almost always be used or opened.

The Hunchback looks like it might be taken from the Edison silent version of Frankenstein, it's very similar to a famous production still that for the longest time was the only image of the film (it was considered lost for a long time and only recently rediscovered)

Google Lens search led me to this. From what I've gathered, it's a 50 year anniversary figure that came exclusively with admission tickets to see Final Wars in certain cinemas. The only way you might get one is through secondhand sites/stores.

I would highly recommend you pick up this and print your own custom cover. Like a lot of other people said the glue eventually dried and the discs slip down and get ruined. I also find this easier because I can’t keep the book with my dvd shelf.

The brackets I got from Amazon in boxes of 10. I wanted the shelves to be super stable/strong, so I have a bracket every 16 inches, mounted into the wall studs. Going around the three walls (10'X14' room) took 30 brackets, just shy of $150 cost from Amazon.

The shelves themselves came from my local lumber yard. 1"x12" planks which are actually 3/4"X11.5" because they're planed smooth on all sides, which takes a bit off. I bought six 12 foot planks, at $10 each.

The brackets have three holes to mount to the wall, for which I used some 2.5 inch screws, two boxes approx cost $10, and add another $10 for the shorter 1 inch screws mounting the shelves to the brackets. I also got the screws at the lumber yard.

The whole project came in at just about $200. The shelves are super solid, mounted to the brackets, which are solidly mounted to the wall studs. My fat arse can literally sit on them. There's no possible way I could ever overload them with collectibles.

You should still be able to add local tracks, if you buy the cd and rip to pc or use a website to take the mp3 from the youtube urls, to itunes and spotify, your phone, blank cds, whatever. Go to the page for the movie and then search for your city/zip. The range it searches isn't very far so you may have to search every nearby city that you're willing to drive to.

There's this for free, which in turn is an attempt at transcribing Samuel Fu's arrangement. Mothra's Song is not the best for piano if you're going to stick with the actual notes instead of adjusting things.
