I use these magnetic covers on all my switches that are intended for Orthodox Jews observing the Sabbath. They also make this model for flat switches.
First time I can definitively say organized religion benefited me.
I believe your bulb says JD E11 On it correct? E11 is a mini candelabra bulb and e12 is a standard candelabra bulb sooooo, you just need a e12 to E11 adapter :)
Do some more research and make sure your bulbs are E11 first :)
Looks very cool. The only thing that I'd do different is stick the bottom Litestrips in a diffuser so you don't get the dot effect. I had to do the same thing. I used these upon the suggestion of someone else here. They fit Lightstrip Plus V4 perfectly:
I got a bunch of these off Amazon . They are a little nicer looking . Make sure you count them when they come though. When I ordered the person filling my order must not have been able to count to 8. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07912QK18?ref=yo_pop_ma_share

I mean, I feel you, because even the brightest Hues aren't that bright, but I think her reading light is more important than your aesthetics, you know?
To make Hue bulbs brighter, add more bulbs. If you have one in a fixture, replace it with two.
Unfortunately you have a TV from a transitional period that supports both the original TV-led DV and the newer Low-Latency (player-led) Dolby Vision variant, but due to unknown reasons only the original DV is actually exposed. The sync box requires LLDV to work well. Another 2017 LG C7 OLED user was able to make his work by purchasing a Dr. HDMI 4K, also available on Amazon.com. Using a Windows PC (required), they downloaded the EDID utility app and the EDID collection archive (downloadable from the downloads tab on the same page), and uploaded the LLDV LG C8 EDID from one of the folders in the archive to the Dr. HDMI 4K. After activating the new EDID syncing Dolby Vision content worked fine.
If you don't have a Windows PC you can get light sync to work by using one of the pre-programmed EDIDs but you will lose surround sound, that's why uploading the extra EDID is recommended.
There is no way around the issue without this (or other similar) piece of hardware, though I suppose there's a chance the service menus (only accessible with a service remote) may perhaps offer some option. Note that you can brick your TV by doing something wrong in the menus.
Also, you'll need quality HDMI cables (Cable Matters 48Gbps 3-pack with a red, yellow and blue cable is a good ~$20 option), and you still have to use port 2 or 4 on the sync box. You should disable enhanced DV compatibility in sync box settings too.
EDIT: If you have an LG C6 you're 100% out of luck because it doesn't do LLDV at all, so make sure yours is C7.
I put in Hue lightstrips under my kitchen cabinets. I highly recommend installing them in diffusers. They help soften the light, but more importantly they make for a very clean looking install. I used these ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCS0WE8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dYoQDbQ7HADKX
The connectors made by this company are also very useful for splitting and joining strips together: https://litcessory.com (also available on Amazon)
Thanks! They are pretty neat plastic wall tiles I saw on r/battlestations and purchased on amazon
I put a dimmer in each room in a plate like these that screws over the existing switch like a cover.
There are similar ones on Etsy and eBay so shop around for the best price!
I have the lights in my living room synced with F.lux to change the lighting temperature along with the color temperature of my screen, and it is a game changer! The image above is the 24-hour preview, so slow that 8-second gif over 24-hours to get an idea of what it's actually like.
I love the fact the color temperature of my laptop gets warmer at night as I get ready for bed. Now that the lights also dim and and get warmer, it's a much more comprehensive change. It makes the colors on my screen feel more accurate, and is a more cohesive change for my circadian rhythm as I prepare for bed.
The difference with F.lux compared to other solutions I've found for syncing hue light temperature to time of day, is that F.lux constantly communicates with the lights, and smoothly changes color throughout the day. The Hue solutions I've found only change the color when you turn the light off and on again.
One note: I had to use this update from F.lux to ensure the lights didn't dim too much. But with this new registry file, it works perfectly.
Hey there, ScreenBloom dev here.
There are a couple of things that will factor into your performance, and you can absolutely get it down to nearly 1:1 response time provided you have the right hardware/network setup.
First, as I mentioned, the hardware. ScreenBloom will run on pretty much anything but you're going to have the best results on a relatively modern quad-core system. For instance, the CPU on my 2014 MacBook pro just can't crunch the data as fast as my desktop PC, so it lags behind it no matter what settings you pick.
Secondly, network. I don't have a lot of insight into this area but I know if you've got a crappy connection/your router has some funky settings you could possibly have degraded SB performance.
Now, for the major stuff that you have direct control over:
Number of displays. I added multi-monitor support a few updates ago, and while this is a great feature - the more displays present on your system, the more data SB has to parse and thus the slower it'll be. If you want the absolute best ScreenBloom performance in a game or a movie, I'd suggest turning off the displays that aren't being used. Windows 10 makes this a very simple process, and I've even found a nice little app that makes it even easier: Monitor Profile Switcher
Finally, the number of lights being addressed is a factor. Each light you select to be addressed by ScreenBloom adds a whole bunch more commands the Hue bridge has to process, so naturally the fewer there are the faster it'll be.
Those are the main ones as far as I can tell. Perhaps others in the community have stumbled upon their own tweaks. Also, don't forget to set a small update buffer if you're experiencing large delays in between updates, perhaps your bridge is being overloaded.
Let me know if you have any questions!
You can do it really simply with a corner diffuser.

Go with the Gledopto MR16 bulb. It is Hue-compatible and is the best (and only) high quality smart bulb of this type. Can do CCT and RGB using the Hue app. Here's a link:
You can also find it for a bit cheaper via Ali Express but you'll have to wait several weeks for delivery. I strongly recommend getting the "Pro" version that uses Zigbee 3.0. I have a bunch of Gledopto lights and the "Pro" versions have the fewest issues.
I've got the flat rocker switches in my apartment and I found these magnetic covers on Amazon that look discreet and can be easily removed any time. They also have ones for flip switches like yours.

Hey fellas,
I'm back with another showcase of my Hue Entertainment Android app called Hue Wave.
You can check it out on the Play Store right here.
Sadly, this app is bridge 2.0 exclusive, since you need the entertainment capability of this bridge.
The app was developed with the goal of creating the ultimate Hue sandbox music tool. You can assign the colors, brightness and frequency range of each individual light in your setup or create a profile that lets a wave of light rush through your system. The three modes (multi, wave, flow) can even be combined to create interesting effects.
The 30 profile slots allow you to be creative, without worrying about running out of space.
The team and I would be very greatful if you could give it a shot, refunds are always possible and help is there if you need it!

I hope you enjoyed this short showcase, it's just a fraction of what's possible with this app,
Shac
Use one light strip with extensions.
You can either make them with some flat Ethernet and adapters or buy some official/nearly legit ones.
For example:

I set it up tonight and it’s working as expected. The two connections at the end is a nice bonus.
I was at Target today and it looks like Target and Philips does a product that works like Hue Lights but is not controlled through Hue.

IFTTT has an action to set a random color for Hue. Exact actions at the bottom of this page:
I assume this means other apps do random colors, too. If you decide to use IFTTT, you could trigger the color with any physical button that works with IFTTT. I use Logitech Pops to trigger IFTTT.
Edit: I’m also assuming a Hue Tap would work. I don’t use them because they’re Hue only and. don’t integrate with anything.
You can setup a recipe on https://ifttt.com/ which can basically receive a notification from a sports network and then change your lights. Last I played with it it updated the status every 15 minutes which wasn't that fun for this type of purpose, but it may have changed.
You should try /r/homeassistant, lots of things going on. Also, to your question, if you know basic programming, that's enough to get started. For example, it auto detects your hue lights, you need to copy and paste some existing automation recipes from https://home-assistant.io/cookbook/ and you are ready to go. Lastly, they now have an integrated install, https://home-assistant.io/hassio/, that basically allows you to do lots of things via a friendly GUI.
In case you really get into it, I suggest you do some research on z wave and then you will open your home to another level of automation.
Good luck!
Kontrol has a nice UI too.
Its price fluctuates, I got it for $0.99.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0819BLM2Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - It was tricky because there aren't really any specific ultrawide mounts. Just have to make sure it supports the weight. I did some research and found a few people got that one I just linked. Really, the only other thing out there that supports the weight is the Ergotron mount for about $300
My personal opinion - Don't use those - they're not designed to be removed and one day you are going to switch your tv.
Instead find a pack of command strips. They easily hold the weight and are removable.
These are covered on the other side, but allow you to flip them if you need to. Hopping they discourage accidental flipping.
Got them here: Amazon - Westek Amertac CSG1 Switch Guard, White, 2 Pack
They don't have E26 base candle bulbs yet, but they do make adapters to put an E12 bulb in an E26 socket I did that with one of my Hue lights as the candle shape looked better in the lamp I had. https://www.amazon.com/JACKYLED-UL-listed-Candelabra-Converter-Resistant/dp/B013JWPW0S/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=24PPCYSDE5NZ7&dchild=1&keywords=e12+to+e26+adapter&qid=1599962305&sprefix=e12+to+e26%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyV0dSUkVRUklLUDY2JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNjQ0NTk5M0JFSFBTOUc4WDU4UCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMTgwMzI1MzAxN0E5NkxNQ0tHMSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
As a developer of Hue Essentials, very thankful for the "App of the month" award, I would like to know if Philips Hue is thinking of a expanding the number of lights within an entertainment area. We want to add more Entertainment programs within Hue Essentials and expansion would greatly benefit our ideas.
The app you're looking for is Hue Pro. The included widget can have any number of presets, and each can be set as a "toggle" -- first press lights on, next press lights off.
I've done exactly this in my house. The app you're looking for is Hue Pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.benchevoor.huepro
You can create unlimited presets and put them on your home screen via widget. I have morning / afternoon / evening / all off / last one to leave / movies / sexy lighting / etc

From what I know there’s two version of the Aura, the one with the round remote should be compatible with HUE.
This one at Amazon should be compatible with HUE even it says “not compatible”, LivingColors Aura
It’s also dirt cheap :)
Hey,
if you have an Android device, feel free to give my app a try (Prismify). There are no specific limitations in the free version (e.g. being able to only use one light, only for 2min,...).
Although I must say that the lighting isn't based on the beats, but on all the sounds that are present in a track (there is just a very subtle difference when a sound matches a beat). I know you're looking for something beats-based, but I think my app should meet your requirements of "non randomness" (e.g. the chosen color is based on the dominant pitch class of a sound) and good synchronization (in ideal conditions, it should be perfect).
If you use Android TV then you can try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bullbash.huestream
Also you can connect mac or pc over hdmi and sync with official Philips `Hue Sync` app.
My Android app Hue Essentials can "press" the link button of the bridge. After you have connected Hue Essentials to your bridge, open the navigation drawer, go to "HUE BRIDGES" > [bridge] > and press the floating pushlink button.
You can do this with all4hue app. You can specify a particular app and when it shows up in your notification tray it will do a flash alert. I do this for text messaging. When I get a text through Signal, my lights will flash. Should be able to do the same thing by specifying the hangouts app.
Not really a life hack but I still find this useful... For folks that use f.lux to shift their computer display to warmer temperature at night, know that f.lux can also control Hue light bulbs. Works very well. I have my computer room lights set to a bright cool hue during the day, and f.lux takes care of making both my computer screen and the room lights warmer and dimmer, in synchronization, as the day progresses. I tend to use my computer right up until I go to sleep (I know, I shouldn't) and this feature really helps wind me down.
I haven't tried this but, download an app called ifttt. It stands for "If This, Then, That" You link apps together with it. Hue is natively supported. You maybe able to set your alarm to trigger a hue scene. https://ifttt.com/ There are probably other ways, I bet if you asked Philips they could ad a feature to the app, as it seems like a really great idea.
Yeah using voice is what I mean. Here's the IFTTT receipe you want: https://ifttt.com/applets/x2QcmYfC-tell-google-assistant-to-set-the-scene You can set the command to whatever you want. But as I said, this only works for one scene so it's not very practical. Hope there's native scene support soon.
Saw this on Slickdeals this morning.
There could be other schedules on your bridge that were not created by the native Philips Hue app. In this case they may not show up. My Hue Lights app will show schedules from any source. If the bridge is empty, then you could try logging onto https://ifttt.com/ to disable anything from that source.
Another possibility is there is another appliance that interrupts the voltage on the circuit with your lights. Whenever there is an interruption in power the lights default to full brightness. You could move one of the lights to a different fixture on a different circuit to rule this out.
I use the default app. Set up alarms around sunset (also later when you want them off) and select the Random setting. It will trigger anywhere 0-30 minutes before or after your time. f.lux could also work. It is constantly controlling the lights according to the sun. (https://justgetflux.com/)
For changing color temperature from your computer, you want F.lux.
For your wake up light, make sure you have it set to fade in. Of course immediately turning on at 100% is going to make you unhappy.
Also, if you want a wake up app that plays sounds and integrates with your lights, check out Sleep Cycle.
You say you've "red" the subreddit like crazy, but perhaps you still have some more exploring to do. This has all been covered here before.
Well, time to save the previous v3.3.0 somewhere, or just get it from APKMirror.com when required.
Thanks for the info OP!
Here is the Slickdeal thread It appears that it might only be shipping from Dell now (full price), but if you find it for pickup locally at Wal-mart it should be the sale price.
I'm guessing Netflix goes into full screen mode, as /u/billcrystals mentioned. ScreenBloom does not work with full screen applications (have a look at "Can I Use ScreenBloom with Videogames?" at the bottom of this page).
Have a look at Borderless-Gaming. It allows full screen applications to work in a windowed full screen mode, which is what ScreenBloom needs. I've used it for ScreenBloom with plenty of different applications ranging from games to video applications and it works well.
The hue hub will not control any smart plugs. But yes the iOS HomeKit app will control many different smart plugs. Look for the HomeKit logo. I use ihome plugs. Have a six of them and they have been my only “never fail” devices. More solid than hue in fact. I have also heard good things about idevices smart plug and hear bad things about the Koogeek plugs. Check this link. HomeKit accessories
Did you check what I linked?

If you write software for a living, defining some conditions when the motion sensor triggers something or not in a config file is not much more difficult than clicking through the horrible UX of the Philips app.
My recommendation would be to move your bookshelf a bit away from the wall, run your light strip against the back of the book shelf (the vertical lines should make it easy) and then move it back closer to the wall. That should shine enough light in all the shelves.
You can purchase black “extension strips” to get around the horizontal shelves without having LEDs show up there. Here’s a link.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XZ3S3PW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I searched for a while too, and have chosen to use these. They aren't perfect, but I can dial in the color spectrum to match pretty close to my Hue setup. Way cheaper too.
This is the correct answer, whether you're moving or not. I have most of my strips in these exact diffusers and it makes them look so much cleaner and easier to work with. Here's the link
Don’t even need a board. Something like this kit on Amazon. I’m sure Home Depot will have single bolts and spacers too

Bought these for mine as I wanted to move my Play Bars and had to replace the tape they came with. The lack of an inner circle cut out really is no issue and shouldn't be a barrier for you. They are working just fine for me and the diameter is identical to what you have already.
Up here on Amazon US for release on Oct. 2.
I've been using the Lutron Connected Bulb Remote. They work great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014STZASK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
From one of the Amazon reviews, here's the pairing instructions:
To the best of my knowledge, Hue are simple, analog RGB LEDs. You can blink the whole strips as a color, but not the individual cells. There are apps, or you can set up python/self coded routines through a home automation app like Home Assistant or OpenHab.
If you want to blink individual cells you need the digital pixel tape. You'll also need a way to control them, like an arduino running a sketch that lets you set the option through a web browser(it's surprisingly not that difficult). WS28xx 50/50 are the most common. WS28xx is the type of LED, and 50/50 is the style. I'd recommend starting with WS2812B, there's a lot of documentation for those and you can get the Chinese stuff pretty cheap on amazon.

I am not sure what the guy below is talking about because even Phillips Hue on Amazon has a picture that shows you can cut the light strip.
You can either solder on wire at the connection points or buy a clip connector like this: https://www.amazon.com/JACKYLED-Extension-32-8ft-Splitter-connectors/dp/B071GY9V64/ref=sr_1_11?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1510229851&sr=1-11&keywords=led+extension+wire
You can also try bending the strip slightly. I have done this with much cheaper RGB strips and have caused a light to stop working though so I would not recommend a 90 degree turn.
Personally, I am starting with 1 strip to test on my 55 inch then if I need more you can get either the 40 inch extension or another 80.
Maybe the reg price has just dropped? I saw a thread from 14 days ago where people were bummed to have missed out at that price.

This Zigbee switch should be compatible with the Hue bridge, but I can’t personally vouch for that as I don’t own any of these.
Here’s a helpful Amazon review for it, “After experimenting with adding this plug to my Philips Hue system, I finally figured out how to add it without any trouble. I held down the power button while inserting the plug into a wall socket. I kept the button held down for about 6 seconds and then heard a ‘click’ sound. I was then able to find the light with the iConnectHue app’s ‘Search’ feature. It could probably also be found this way with the Philips app, but I didn’t try that.”
All you need is a USB to barrel jack kit from Amazon and use a spare USB power supply that most have laying around the house (old cell phone charger).

Yes, this is possible with my app Hue Essentials. In the app, go to Devices, select your bridge, Apps, select a client, delete it.
If you have an Android phone you can download Hue Essentials from Google Play. For iOS the app is still in TestFlight, but unfortunately this specific feature is not in it yet.

It's actually pretty simple. Set the light to red at 1% brightness and then tell it to change to yellow at 100% and add a duration. It will then change its color gradually from red to yellow. The standard wakeup routine isn't able to do this however.

I do agree it would be good to have official support for such concepts, especially that they've started on their site.
Are you running all of those on one bridge? I'd like to hear about the performance if so.
I would be super indebted to you if you could try my app at full lava speed as I only have about 25 lights to test it on right now: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.philips.hueswitcher.quickstart
It'll be released as soon as it's done, as an update to the current play store listing. It didn't exist two days ago, so it shouldn't take too long. All the functionality is there, I'm now just polishing the connection process to the bridge and trying to get rid of bugs.
This is the first I've heard of twinkly. Does anyone have experience with these Dots?
Are they enough to look good on the front of a house?
I'm not an Echo Dot user but yes the Hue system always requires a bridge. When you ponder on integration that isn't natively supported, IFTTT offers a solution to some of them, as the Hue system is a part of this. https://ifttt.com/discover But it's much better to minimize the amount of middle-men and have devices talk to one another as directly as possible. There's enough challenge in all things wireless without having to pass signals through extra nodes!
Not a direct solution, but a couple of potential workarounds or avenues to pursue possibly. For one, I have completely given up on the multiuser geofencing labs part of the official Hue app. I, like you and many others, was never able to get it to work as advertised and worked an incredibly long time to sort out any issues I may have been having on my end. It’s just a very poorly implemented part of the app right now, but hopefully it will get better as it is clearly a popular and heavily requested feature.
My wife and I have iPhones and iPads we leave at home, so I took some advice and set up a HomeKit hub on my iPad and imported my lights from the Hue app to the Home app. I now have almost perfect geofencing when it comes to either my wife or me arriving at home together or apart. I know some other Apple App Store apps have similar features with reportedly good integration of multiuser geofencing option, such as iConnectHue, but I have not personally tried these since the Home app solved my problems given my Apple-only ecosystem of mobile devices.
Depending on the manufacturer of the driveway sensors, If This Then That/IFTTT (https://ifttt.com) may have the ability to have the driveway sensor trigger an action with your Hue lights. I would explore the services page of IFTTT to see if any of the driveway sensor manufacturers are listed. You could cross reference that with the Hue service to see if anyone has made any applets doing what you are looking for already. If that is the case, it may just be a matter of linking accounts on IFTTT and activating the applet.
Good luck!
Edit: typo
A few key lights in my house turn purple when rain is in the immediate forecast ("Purple Rain"). If you connect your Hue system to IFTTT, you can use pretty much anything for a trigger. Tie Weather Underground to Hue and then I know when to shut my windows, take along an umbrella, or bring in my bicycle when it's about to rain.

Where automation is concerned, I agree with the reviews:
The Nokia/Withings Sleep is nothing more than a butt button. For example, Nokia/Withings only put 3 triggers in IFTTT (bottom of page):
None of them are related to falling asleep, sleep cycles, or waking up. So, if you get one, make sure you’re happy with its sleep tracking.
(For sleep tracking, I found it mostly consistent with my Fitbit.)
It's an applet by Philips Hue: Tell Google Assistant to set the scene. You choose your trigger phrase(s) then choose the room and scene.
If you have 2 screens on your computer, you can run OBS https://obsproject.com/ (or any other capture application) and show the live preview on the second screen. There it will be windowed and HueImmersive can capture it. It's a bit annoying to setup, but works 100% of the time: those applications are dedicated to capturing screens so they do it well and solved all the issues already. If OBS doesn't work for your specific need, you can try an alternative.

However... After I arrived home I turned the light off. Then when I went to bed, the GPS activated the recipe again and the light turned on when I didn't want it to.
F.lux is for giving your computer screen a low colour temperature at night and it can do the same for Hue lights. I think a future version is planned with more granular control.
Yes you can set timing rules with Hue... there called routines under Hue. The Routines have a hard set time though so unless you manually change it and your sun starts setting at 6pm in winter you would have to manually change it as the sunset/sunrise time changes.
There is IFTTT to get around that. IFTTT has a great many things you can do with your hue lights. These include the ability to turn your lights on and off at sunset/sunrise.
