A capacitive stylus is what you're looking for. This is the one I got, it works amazingly with SMM2. There's probably others worth looking at too though!
I'll add that in one month. It will cost 60$ and will be published under the name of "Super Mario Maker 2".
You can even prepurchase that update here: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Maker-2-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B07NQDG7RQ/
In other words, the goal of this project was to design level before the game comes out and make them once it's out.
https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Tournament-Controller-Officially-Licensed-Pokemon/dp/B01A6LEXFK
This things d-pad is great. It works with any game that doesn't require control sticks.
Edit: This is only useful for playing stages. The editor has functions bound to the control sticks.
What technologies are you using?

Did you create a Github repository? If it is opensource, you could have more help from others.

For https cert you can use https://letsencrypt.org/, it's free and very easy to use if you are hosting on a linux server.
They changed definitely some physics in the game. Before the update you could grab a pow block while running over it(with a fast look to the pow). You can see this in this gif:
https://giphy.com/gifs/HRKUqpJwc78U8
I wish, they would at least tell us what they change, so that we know and are not sitting on an impossible level.:(
Have you ever heard of Zelda Classic? It's a PC based replicated Zelda 1 engine with a pretty fully featured editor that people have been making Zelda games with for years and years. Check it out, it's pretty rad.
I have one for you:

Always keep in mind, how hard some things can be, when they have to be executed very fast:)
I see my levels proceed me :)
For CC #2, I know that SuperTwoU completed the level on stream a while back. Unfortunately, it's not in the archives anymore, but you should be able to ask him for the footage. For just a hint? My hint is that "everything is used".
Thanks! If you draw digitally, I highly recommend this guy's brush set (all of his brush sets, actually):
Well worth the $14. The particular brush I used for this thing is called "Tilteriffic 2015," which is a pencil-style brush that detects and uses your stylus' tilt as you draw.
I'm not going to lie: When I posted it, I forgot what he actually looked like: I only remembered that everybody thought it was ugly and he had his own video game I remembered seeing in Nintendo Power.
I have a gamerip. It's not quite complete; stage clears and deaths aren't included, and it's probably missing something else I haven't thought of. The rip is a little different because I wanted to merge the editor and BGM tracks together into one track, including builder sfx. Normally I don't like sfx in gamerips, but I think in this case it really captures the essence of the game (and besides the builder sfx they are very minimal). mp3 128kbps 2:28:02 Download here Comments on the rip are welcome.
It was your level that Crimsonn got during an expert run today on stream! he loved the level too! You can see the video here:
https://www.twitch.tv/crimsonnn/v/53218042
Skip to 50 minutes into the video where he gets your Lost Palace.
Always keep in mind, how hard some things can be, when they have to be executed very fast:) Give him a timelimited which runs out exactly, leaving no room for mistakes. Also levels using advanced techniques are probably way harder, because you have to learn something completely new and chelljumps etc. are so hard to execute(can't do it very good either). In this level there are four things, which makes the level really hard:
1) The start. Doesn't looks that hard at first, but you have to do a crouch jump, look to the left(to pick up the shell) and then jump up without hitting any edge. So this is just getting so hard, because of the 10 second limit.
2) the spin jump off the thwomp. This is an advanced technique. You have to release the spin jump button, right after hitting the thwomp and then immediately grab it again to stay at a low height, but getting the required distance.
3) the POW-grab. This is something, I came up with myself. You can run over a POW Block, grab it, while faling off of it, and carrying it over two spikes(look at gif to see what I mean).
4) The new end(not in the gif) requires the player to do lots of things very fast, like: making a spinjump, grabbing a POW, throwing the POW at the upper muncher, crouching, jumping against the ?-Block to not get squashed. and that all within 1 second or something.

I don't like the joy cons for anything other than casual gaming, which is what they were made for, so they're good for what they were made for.
I switched to 8Bitdo Sn30 Pro+ and was able to do shell jumps waaaaay more consistently. I always thought I just sucked, which I do, but part of the problem was the controller (funny enough).
I went back to the joy cons (and my other basic controller from Target) and it's a no go.
Even for other games, I love this controller as it has programmable buttons and the grips feel perfect in my hands.
My friend has a pro controller and the D-Pad feels janky, but they had an older model so I'm not sure if they fixed it.
Seriously though, for the price, the 8bitdo is the way to go.
The DS2 and DS3 can’t be connected to a TV, they are strictly handhelds.
A DS2 would be good if you’re on a budget, but the DS2 XL is better for performance and, from my experience, a better battery life.
But the make-or-break difference here is the price. The DS2 XL is $150, while the regular DS2 is only $80.
The XL can close, but the regular cannot.
The XL has extra buttons and is generally more powerful, but that in turn doesn’t quite make it as budget-friendly ($150) as the regular DS2 ($80).
For you, I’d argue you should go with the regular DS2 and the Nintendo Selects version of Mario Maker DS2/DS3. (both of these are Amazon links). Bonus here is that he also gets an extra game pre-installed on the DS2.
Hope this helps!
Not OP, but I splurged a little and got this one off Amazon. The fine tip has been fantastic and the pen feels really weighty and nice.
Non-affiliate link, btw.
>I don't even have the meaty masculine hands of a real man
I laughed out loud at this. It's been a long day at work, and this made my day better.
The switch needs a capacitive stylus. I recommend the amazon basics stylus. It has 3 different sized points.
Some might think $8 is too much for a stylus though, but I can say this one feels great and is high quality.

Otherwise, you can probably find one at the dollar store or wherever for cheap.
I made a Mario Maker like game for Android for my little brother a while ago. I recently updated it and now I'd say it works pretty well.
I've named it Blox2D game maker.
You can give it a try if you like

Just be aware that I'm a hobby solo developer and not a big corporation like Nintendo
Keep the collectible and pick up a set of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N1BRWLA
They are really great for screen touching accurately, I use one for drawing level comments.
I actually really like the controller for making levels like 90% of the time.
There are three background plattforms right? Sad thing, the GameXplain Video only shows two of them. Why is that? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJNbGGAN8Yc) Also there seems to be three background decorations (on the right side). For ghosthouse we have the clock, the lamp and the fence. But there seems to be more, since there are also mushrooms for the ghosthouse? (https://gyazo.com/b057b5d3754e774d27d12c6dacfa0859)
You got to see what is left, unused. It is obvious that you need to explode last bomb. All 3 items are used to help flame go higher.

tl;dw :
The Chopped Challenge is a weekly design challenge where we give you 4 ingredients and a week to make a level! It's just for fun, to see what kind of unique spin you can put on the week's ingredients!
This week's a little different! Instead of 4 ingredients, there are 2! And they are..
And there's an extra twist this week, your level can only be 2 screens wide and 2 screens tall. And no sub areas!
Levels are due Tuesday, June 16th and can be submitted here, on the video, or on the Chopped discord!
We'd love for you to join us! These appetizer weeks are usually a lot of fun for everybody, so it's a great one to start with!
Happy Making!
Because of flash, you have to use bluemaximas flash point (the site shut down on the 16th when flash went away). Not sure how to set it up but you can find their website here.
Did I mess something? There are 6 rows listed, but only 5 of them contain something. The last one doesn't even have a number. So there are at least 12 more tiles? https://gyazo.com/ba32dab2fa472e53858f8e79e18eb4a4
Do you go on twitch at all? There is a streamer there by the name of goseigen who often does 100 Mario only he skips the level if he can't beat it on the first try. He's incredibly dry and makes fun of everything. It made me enjoy 100 Mario again.
This is a 12-channel .wav file. Many tools can't play this file. Dropbox can't preview it, but I can download the file, then SoX can play it. SoX is a set of command-line tools for processing sound.
The command soxi BGM_NetworkMainScene.wav
identifies the file:
Input File : 'BGM_NetworkMainScene.wav' Channels : 12 Sample Rate : 32000 Precision : 16-bit Duration : 00:00:33.16 = 1061225 samples ~ 2487.25 CDDA sectors File Size : 25.5M Bit Rate : 6.14M Sample Encoding: 16-bit Signed Integer PCM
These commands play the file:
play BGM_NetworkMainScene.wav
combines all the channels.play BGM_NetworkMainScene.wav remix 1 2
plays only channels 1 and 2. (I have a 2-channel stereo speaker, so I pick a left channel and a right channel.)play BGM_NetworkMainScene.wav remix 9,11 10,12
combines channels 9 and 10 with 11 and 12.play BGM_NetworkMainScene.wav remix 5,7 6,8 trim 0 14.2 repeat -
loops the first 14.2 seconds of channels 5 to 8.

Level Title: 50 Shades of Donut Plains
ID: A36B-0000-0040-7130
Description of Gameplay Elements: Standard SMW faire, modeled after the donut plains world. The level is pretty easy (it was designed for a couple of the non-hardcore players in my life), and I really think it captures the spirit of a Nintendo designed level - though I'd love some feedback if you disagree! There's a couple of hidden areas (4ish), so take a little bit of time.

Here's mine:
Level Title: 50 Shades of Donut Plains ID: A36B-0000-0040-7130
There are 3 sub-worlds areas - two bonuses, one 'short cut' (well, it's not really a short cut, but it includes a different element of gameplay), also I Tried my best to recreate the classic bonus area from SMW
Congrats to the winners! I've uploaded my level around 10 times because of cheese, I hope there is none in this version...

Here is a guide for anyone who's stuck: https://pastebin.com/guLGqBud
I bought this on Amazon and received it today. Feels comfortable and has replaceable tips.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JY98QL/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_t1_0ng8Cb7E1T43D
I’m from Canada and bought this on the .com site for $24 CAD with tax and shipping. If you buy on amazon.ca it costs $34 plus taxes which is ridiculous, so if you’re in the North, get it from the .com.
Practically any cheap metal stylus. I like (these)[https://www.amazon.ca/Universal-Capacitive-Replacement-Samsung-Microsoft/dp/B071VG7C61/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Stylus&qid=1561316403&s=gateway&sr=8-6] a lot. (Warning, canadian amazon).
Mine was not either. ~~I'm not sure if there were extras but regardless I probably tossed the box after applying it and it's not like there's a logo on it. I'll try to see if I can find exactly what brand, however it was suggested~~
Nevermind, I ordered mine off Amazon and found the history. I bought my own after a GameStop employee suggested I buy one of theirs but I refused to pay 20 bucks for a transparent piece of plastic.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N3ASPNV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This might work if the Switch supports Bluetooth keyboards https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.appground.blek&hl=en_US&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Duse+phone+as+bluetooth+keyboard&pcampaignid=APPU_1_Q0p-Xfq1EISigQb4n4OoBw
This is the one i got, best of both world here, even though i do agree with you on the squishy one, moves along the screen much nicer than the plastic disc.
Yeah, i’d recommend a capacitive stylus for better precision when building your levels, unless you would rather use control sticks on tv mode. Here’s a good stylus I’ve seen many recommending - https://www.amazon.com/MEKO-Universal-Precision-Capacitive-Replacement/dp/B00N1BRWLA/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=capacitive+stylus&qid=1561696702&s=gateway&sr=8-3
I think ill just order a stylus from amazon lol
AmazonBasics Capacitive Stylus Pen for Touchscreen Devices Including Kindle Fire, Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008HJGPVO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_096eDb41G0PXT
This is a stylus that will be good.
This one was recommend to me on r/nintendoswitch and it quite like it. It has a 3ds/Wii u stylus like tip (basically like a pen) and on the opposite side it has a larger but more rounded soft tip. If you do get this one and plan to use the pen like tip, make sure u have a screen protector on your switch because the hard plastic disk on the tip might scratch the switch screen since it’s also plastic.
This might work. Amazon Basics stuff is usually solid and it's 8 bucks so if it turns out to not be great then it's a pretty small investment.
The Wii U is great. Can you get it cheap anymore though? They've ceased production, so the price is only going to go up, right?
At first I was going to say, yeah, totally, get a Wii U! But then I remembered the console is only part of the investment.
Downloading Games: If you're like me and hate discs, you'll want to get a hard drive like this one. The Wii U only has 32GB of internal storage and some games take a lot of space. For example, Smash Bros is 15.6GB. And yes, you need a weird external USB hard drive with its own wall plug since the console won't provide enough power on its own.
Multi-Player: If you want to play with other people, you'll need some more controllers. Got any WiiMotes laying around? Those work, though many games like Nintendo Land require the Wii Motion Plus ones specifically.
Playing Smash Properly: If you really want the authentic Smash Bros experience, you'll also need a GameCube adaptor or two and a bunch of GameCube controllers. You can use up to 8 controllers in this way.
The costs start to add up a bit. Though, maybe just for me because I like Smash Bros. There's a lot of other good games on there though. Definitely check out Mario 3D World.
I use Game Capture HD60 High Definition Game Recorder from Elgato. It is 130 $ but looks really nice and is super easy to setup.
I'm hoping to get this version for Christmas
I bought one of these years ago and it's still charging up wii-motes like a champ.
You could have just looked up Mario Maker on amazon.com then
