Thanks! If you want to test it, here is the file: http://www.filedropper.com/exlcomtestrelease
Keep in mind there might be bugs and it will most likely be horribly unbalanced, so it will definitely not be a polished experience. Also fighter stats/weapons are assigned randomly, since there is no strategic layer yet.
You might also have to enable macros, and it might not work at all. But please share your feedback if it does work :)
EDIT: Click on the grey button in the top left corner to start. It should do it automatically, but on downloaded files Excel seems to disable workbook.activate methods for security reasons.
Update from GMG just now:
>All keys for XCOM 2 War of the Chosen will be delivered over the next few hours. We'll update here as soon as keys are dispatched.
>If you have requested a refund on your key already please note that we will be processing all refunds before sending keys, so you will receive your refund today.
>If you've any further questions please reply in this thread.
I think it's a spark in a lawn chair reading a book. Look at the feet.
Well I got this when I tried to check world stats. Is that normal?
Also one of the icons for the bottom of the screen was flashing the advent symbol.
Edit: It was total game victories and when I clicked the screen here, It took me back to the main page.
Edit 2: Its happening with pretty much everything on the page. I tried all of the different buttons. Same effect.
Edit 3: Went into the inspect element. Found the gif if anyone wants it: Click me!
Edit 4: Final edit I swear. It seems as if it has replaced the entire page. At least from what I can decern from the html. But i'm not the most experianced with it so if someone wants to take a crack at it be my guest. the page just doesn't seem to work if you delete the background.
The differences between the other game is numerous. They changed a lot of things. But the core is still there. I actually have the most time in Apocalypse among all of the titles.
Most underrated game of the franchise IMO.
Make sure you shoot down a transporter.

You are probably the main reason for the (as of now) $2 billion "costs to repair" that's on ~~ADVENT's~~ Firaxis' stats site.
Here is an unaffiliated link if you're interested. $10 on Xbox One from amazon, standard edition.
I haven't received my keys yet, either. I ordered from GMG on Aug. 14.
I did see this response from GMG on the comments on the game page: https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/xcom-2-war-of-the-chosen/community#!%2Fgames%2Fxcom-2-war-of-the-chosen-pc:until-it-releases-on-steam%2Fhi-guys-we-are-unable-to
> Hi guys,
> We are unable to give an exact time, but keys will be sent out closer to the release date of the game, most likely a few hours before the release date/time (In accordance with Steams Release times).
> We aim to have keys released either a few days before launch (Depending if the Publisher sends them early and gives the greenlight to do so) or on release day.

That fanart was actually made specifically for this particular series of XCOM Let's Play vids:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/36317556
(Nicovideo accounts required to view them)
There's a whole lot more effort poured into this let's play than others I've seen.
I don't want to sound like I'm super paranoid or anything, but is there a reason you don't use SSL on the site? Considering the fact that the site is dealing with the Steam API I imagine someone's session ID being sniffed and hijacked could have some not so nice consequences. If you need a SSL certificate, there's some really easy ways to get them for free, notably Let's Encrypt.
Well, in that case, I definitely won't link to one I found on Amazon. :)
I was originally just googling because I couldn't remember the actual name for the grabber arm thingy, but instead of the two-claw version that I was thinking of, google gave me this single-claw version. It's perfect for this use because it has a nice solid pole to mount the ROV-R model on, and only having one moving claw should really simplify the mechanics for the ~~eye~~ camera shields.
Then you just need some battery-powered LEDs and a speaker playing GREMLIN noises, and you'd be set!
Remember whenever you go back online without using VPN it will be locked again until you log in using spotflux.
On Windows, go to \Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config and open the file XComGameCore.ini using Notepad++ or a similar text editor. Then search for the line
[XComGame.XComWorldData] EnableThreadedWorldDataBuild=true
and change it to 'false'. This will increase loading times, but reduce instances of LOS not working correctly. On console, there's no workaround, but that config option was added by the developers in I believe the last patch, which indicates that they are likely aware of the issue and may be working on solving it.
How about quote about deception? Since it's arguably the major underlying theme, on both aliens and X-com side.
“Never attempt to win by force what can be won by deception.” ― Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince
“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!” ― L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
“All warfare is based on deception.” ― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
I'm pretty sure he is getting the PBeM game mixed up with UFO: Alien Invasion. Alien Invasion is a freeware remake which IIRC is actually quite good. The PBeM game is called First Alien Invasion or something like that methinks.
EDIT: This is what the game he is talking about actually looks like: http://www.mobygames.com/game/emil-games-x-com . The screenshot he shows is from the aforementioned freeware remake.
Have always been looking for this, I just googled it now and found this...
Experience chart from the source code!
From personal experience, it takes two kills and one mission, or two missions for a first promotion. So by that math, I'd say that every mission is worth ~50xp, and kills are about 25-40xp. If someone wants to do more precise math on this, feel free to break it down, but I'd love to do an in depth investigation.
If you could get a ranked officer like Captains and Majors, their missions/kills, we could use the formula XP = M + K to figure out and narrow this down, maybe even to solid numbers to add to the UFOpedia. It's probably the one thing missing from the best god damn XCOM wiki, and I will hear no different! Looks like crap, but god damn is that a great resource. Seriously, it's like the UESP of XCOM, love that place.
Another source, from the GMG forum: https://www.greenmangaming.com/community/#!/general:xcom-2-war-of-the-chosen-re
EDIT: as a further update from that thread, it should be about an hour from the time of this post before they start sending keys out.
In spades, especially right now; you can get the Complete Edition (the expansion and all DLC) for under $9 on Amazon right now.
If you enjoy turn-based tactical games, permanent death, and shooting aliens, you'll dig it. There are a lot of Let's Plays on YouTube, so you can try and get the flavor before you buy. But I love it.
Actually with Spotflux it's as simple as installing and running the program. When it's running you're connected to the VPN, when it's not running... you're not. Super easy to use.
Have you read <em>Moondogs</em> by Alexander Yates? Because you just described the main character's superpower.
Apologies for the Amazon link, didn't know what else to link. Good book, if you like weird superhero thrillers(?)... I have no idea how to describe it.
Scroll down, there you'll find official concept art that shows a Viper without her top armor aka showing her boobs. No nipples. You can also see them connect to her neck, so it's likely that they're venom sacks.
https://xcom.com/de-DE/news/xcom-2-s-viper-gets-uncomfortably-close/
I'm just saying that's where they should be, alright?
If they're not there then it's probably not something you need to be worrying about.
Still, if you're worried about drive space? If I can't find where all my HD space has gone, I run a scan with WinDirStat.
Soldier aim isn't really changed, though? Cover is a bit more valuable (providing 30/45 Defence instead of 20/40), but that benefits you as well - really, it benefits you more than the aliens, because XCOM has much greater access to cover destroying abilities.
If you do want to change that back, though, you go to Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\844674609\Config and open XComGameCore.ini in Notepad++ or a similar text editor, then go to line 713 (or search for 'LOW_COVER_BONUS') and you can change the values there.
And Android. Costs a bit though, controls are decent, good nostalgia trip for days when you have no wifi/data.
OP, take this comment to heart. This guy know what he's talking about. As Hunter says: "You're a cold-blooded killer, Commander. It takes one, to know one".
There are many L/I players and some of them have videos. But in just a few turns, sometimes even as much as 1 a skilled[0] L/I player can tell who's who just by the way they move before even engaging anything.
From experience, LW 1 is what elevates your "footwork" beyond a simple I/I EW (which isn't a low bar itself) and gives you a "spider sense" for the pods where just 1 tile makes the difference between flawless and squad wipe.
[0] This is an important distinction. You can find quite a lot of videos on Youtube and streams elsewhere where people win L/I but stumble along the way heavily.
"What the ancients called a clever fighter is one who not only wins, but excels in winning with ease." -- Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Beagle also streams a lot on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/beagsandjam
So if you want more XCOM from him, you could watch back his VODs.
Otherwise I'd recommend watching ChristopherOdd, he makes good XCOM videos regularly as well.
"We're looking into why keys were not automatically released at the go-live point, but we have them in stock and they will be dispatched within the next couple of hours. If you have placed a refund request that will be processed before we start to send keys this morning. Apologies for the delay."
This is the official statement from GMG. Found it on their very new and wonky forums =p
https://www.greenmangaming.com/community#!%2Fgames%2Fxcom-2-war-of-the-chosen-pc
The thread is called Pathetic (didnt manage to find a way to link directly to the thread itself as the whole forum is an expand and collapse kind of thing).
Not new to LW2, but there are hundreds of great assets (often) hidden away in the game. My favorite is the half-eaten donut and cup of coffee in the diner (with the red tile floor).
I did find this video, which shows off Van Doorn.
It does contain minor spoilers as it shows off some late game gear and abilities.
>PCs can't text.
They can with Pushbullet.
Nowadays if I get the text message while I'm home I just get desktop notification and instead of typing on my phone I use the keyboard, really fast and handy.
Just so everyone knows, modding the DefaultGameCore that's stored in your game folders won't affect your actual game. There's a DefaultGameCore in the main exe that will overwrite any changes you make to the loose file.
In order to actually use the changes that you make with Meddler, you'll need to download a resource editor like Resource Hacker and follow the steps listed here.
Edit: Forgot to add, if you make changes to the exe, you may have to play with Steam in offline mode. The autoupdate will kick in sometimes and you'll get a message saying your game is being updated and it'll just sit at 0%. Also, anytime there's an official patch, you'll need to re-do the changes you made to the exe file.
None of us could tell you that without you listing the model or internal parts of the laptop. However, you can use this application to see if your computer fits the requirements: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri?itemId=11454
http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15663
I'm on mobile and my phone is shit so I'm not 100% sure but you should be able to get all three mods from this page. You might want to get a mod manager as well but IIRC there's one linked on that page.
/u/Sumajin pretty much covered everything, but I have a warning, and some other tips.
I'm uncertain if you've played vanilla before, but all of us would advise that you do if you haven't. If you jump straight into Long War without a basic grasp of the mechanics, you WILL get your ass handed to you.
That being said, tools for a new computer are as follows:
Ninite. It's a tool to download and install a bunch of stuff at once. It automatically skips all the junk toolbars/excess bloatware that would usually come with it too.
Stuff that I would reccomend are VLC (a media player that plays almost every type of file), Avast (an antivirus), and of course Steam. Also WinRar or 7-Zip.
I'm biased and more of a power user, so take it with a grain of salt, but if you have questions don't hesitate to ask.
>Keys are being dispatched now. It will take a while to get through all keys, but please keep an eye on your email for your key's arrival. Sincere apologies for the delay in delivery.
Further:
>They're already heading out. We process the keys in the order they were requested, then there may be a minor wait depending on which email service you use… We should be talking at most an hour.
My List:
You haven't kept up with news, but do not fear, I'm here to help!
Firaxis has released a demo of the photoboth as standalone on steam, here's a link for the article on the site: https://xcom.com/news/entries/xcom-2-war-of-the-chosen-propaganda-center
Not the OP, but from the description my mind immediately goes to Frozen Synapse. You plan out the movements of all your soldiers each turn, but both you and then enemy act at the same time. All of your soldiers move at the same time, and so do the enemies. It's kind of like chess, try to predict your opponents moves so you can come out on top.
If you look at the Spectrum Road Map, you can see that "Long War 2 Shopping List" is already a thing. That's a start, I guess. The work done by Pavonis will certainly help some modders on their own projects and inspire others to do new things.
Keep an eye on isthereanydeal.com - right now someone has complete edition for $15.00. It's frequently on sale for $10 or so...
As much fun as shark soldier would be, I'd love to see Tsundereplane
Also, get Flux! Ninite removed it from their page, so I didn't remember it until now. It's a program that changes the color temperature of your screen at night to have a reddish tinge, so it's easier on your eyes.
Some people like it, and some people don't, but I recommend it to everyone regardless.
Keep an eye out here, it's not comprehensive, but it's a great one-stop place to check a bunch of sites. Keep an eye out on /r/gamedeals, too. X-COM discounts tend to get upvoted to be fairly visible there.
Goddamnit, I'm still waiting for that Tiberium FPS, now you've opened that wound. Argh.

But yeah, turn-based tactical game in C&C universe could be nifty. Just don't tell EA or they will make a shitty mobile game out of it... oh wait...
In light of there apparently being a bug which caused beagle to lose 100% of his gear from that mission instead of the intended 50%. So I decided to look up everything that was lost and calculate an alternate universe in which the bug was fixed.

I'm not saying beagle needs to cheat anything back in, but I don't think too many people would put it past him if he did. Maybe a poll is in order, but again, it is up to beagle.
Edit: updated after amineri corrected me on how the 50% roll works.
Yeah, for me personally something is missing there despite it being a good game from what I heard.
I watched several lets plays of the game, and it lacks a certain likeability. Every menu is crisp and usable, but lacking in style. That Lab screen with obnoxious hipster scientist is plain irritating for me. I really want to punch that guy in the face. Dr. Vahlen is pretty badass in comparison. Soldier avatar design is uninspiring, and they lack enough personality to really care about individuals beyond stats.
I realize that they had a limited budget and made as great of a game as they could. However their art direction and UI look just doesn't work for me, both in Geoscape/Base management and tactical combat mode.
So I am personally going to try Open XCOM for the original experience. It fixes a lot of issues with the game while retaining its charm.
I think you're right about expectations and the final product being "too different" from the original.
So people will then direct everyone's attention to this: http://www.xenonauts.com/
Pre-ordered it to try it out and I have to say it's amazing how well they've captured the essence of the original X-com, while updating the graphics quite a bit and the gameplay slightly.
They post them on the website, or you can usually find some post here about them. This patch's notes are pretty sparse, tbh: https://xcom.com/news/en-dangerous-ruler-aliens-await-in-xcom-2s-alien-hunters-dlc
As a suggestion if you're into trying tabletop games, look up your local board/card game stores and hobby shops, pretty safe bet they host a tabletop group or two that you could join.
Or you could just join an online game on a site like Roll20. It's not the same as face-to-face interaction, but with a good group it is just as fun.
Same here! According to my letterboxd movie thing I've seen 945 movies, but the second I heard "The only good bug is a dead bug" I knew this movie was gonna touch my soul in a special way. I'm not usually one to jump the gun on praising something I just saw but man, that movie made me feel like a kid again.
Ryan North made a shirt, and I have the less-than-useful ability to remember things which would only be useful in a post-apocalyptic scenario. This Quora post backs it up, or may be the source for Ryan's figure. His reasoning seems sound.
Yes, the B15a installer will overwrite all your previous INI modifications.
Before installing it, it's recommended that you make a backup of all the files you have edited and then you can use Winmerge to compare old and new files. That way you can preserve and apply your own changes easily.
From the upcoming guide:
"To “re-spec” your soldiers in the AWC:
Open Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/) and navigate to:
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\844674609\Config\ xcomgamedata.ini
Search (Ctrl+F) for “Respec” and then change the value following the “=” to 0
It should look like this:
XComHeadquarters_DefaultRespecSoldierDays[1]=0; Normal
It will be instantaneous, and you will be able to choose the perks again for your soldier. "
Edit: There are only a couple other changes to make, and they mostly affect the mid/late game so you should be good to go.
Go to Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\844674609\Config and open XComLW_Overhaul.ini in Notepad++ or a similar text editor, and then find the lines 'REFLEX_ACTION_CHANCE_YELLOW' and 'REFLEX_ACTION_CHANCE_GREEN' (starting about line 137) - set all of them to 0.
It's a messenger service, like WhatsApp. It has a feature where you send stickers, like these. They sort of replace emoticons, and are honestly just a gimmick. But now that you can send XCOM stickers, it's finally useful!
Hm I think you're out of the loop. Paradox did authorize a chinese studio to make a mobile game that resuses Stellaris assets: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paradoxplaza.lassie&hl=fr&gl=US
It's the exact same situation here. 2k ordered a mobile game from a chinese company. And to the surprise of absolutely nobody, it is a crap cash grab designed for addicted mobile users.
The goal is simply to make money. This kind of game is made to please the shareholders. Because mobile gaming is money. They won't cancel the game just because we hate it.
It's better to ignore that it exists and move on.
That's not even close to the right type of sweater. It's called a Commando Jumper/Sweater. Here's one option: https://www.amazon.com/British-Commando-Sweater-Woolly-Pully/dp/B01N3QF8DR?th=1
Anyone also who had the game fully preloaded have to download an extra 17mb or so when starting steam using Spotflux? It won't even download it, just been stuck on 0kb/s for 10 minutes :(
Edit: Just had to wait long enough and it started the download, about 15 mins in.
> the mod doesn't really feature levels of disadvantage that can be overcome with tactics.
Hammer meets nail.
Most missions are either unwinnable or incredibly easy; those are decided on the strategy layer. It's a nice nod to The Art of War but it's also tedious having to run through the cakewalk missions. There's a band of difficulty where it could go either way, but even there the sense of player agency is watered down or completely washed away by the amount of random involved on the tactical layer.
Just gonna throw this out there: CanIRunit
Eyeballing your specs, you might be able to play on low. Your CPU's pretty weak, and this game's CPU intensive.
EDIT: Damn, your graphics card is very, very weak. That might be a problem.
Still, run the CIRI program, see what it says.
Could someone help me out? PC noob here who only just recently got a laptop that's gaming capable and I was hoping it'd be able to run XCOM 2.
According to the Can You Run It website, my video card is the only thing that is holding me back.
But when I look at the information under that, where it shows what's required versus what I have, all of my stats are over the minimum. Is the site wrong, and I will be able to run the game?
I don't know if you'd be willing, but I bought the complete edition off of G2A roughly a month ago and everything went smoothly and is still fine. You could probably look into that if you like. This is the link for the complete edition it seems it's cheaper than Enemy Within.
You've mentioned mid-to-late game material -- a colonel, titan armor, a squad size of 6, and what sounds like a Sectopod. If you've made it that far on Normal, you're clearly not terrible, it just sounds like you need to play a bit more to learn the ins and outs.
Once you know how to deal with them, EW Berserkers (is that what you mean?) aren't exactly easy in multiples but their AI is predictable and they become very manageable.
Anything that seems imbalanced on Normal isn't, or it's not imbalanced against the player. It sounds like you're very capable of getting over the hump, just keep at it. There's a big jump from Normal to Classic, and I have not beaten Impossible so I can't really speak to that.
I learned basic EW tactics watching Beaglerush's series of edited Ironman Impossible videos on youtube: https://tinyurl.com/omtj84g
They were done years ago (pre-EW) before beating I/I was something that apparently everyone does, so they no longer seem like tactical wizardry, but they're funny and solid.
Marbozir, joINrbs, and Faleg are other favorites of mine. You can learn a lot by watching better players and different playstyles.
Good luck, Commander. o7
I enabled the alien-pod cinematic reveal back into Long War and I've been using it for almost an year now. Here's a little summary of what I've found (copied from my original post):
The Long War developers removed the cinematic reveal when encountering aliens in the ground combat game due to a number of unfixable and aesthetic bugs (possibly other unknown effects).
Seekers have a slightly higher chance to not stealth when revealed; if they do stealth there is a small chance the health bar for at least one stealthed Seeker will stay revealed and make it targetable.
Outsider pods will only transform the Outsiders that fit in the cinematic sequence. The other Outsiders will remain as glowing orbs of light until damaged. They will still move for cover and shoot.
A few rare times Aliens will be lumped into one another when revealed. They still function fine but it can look a bit silly. (example: Thin man does a flip jump through another alien)
On the plus side, I've yet to encounter a game breaking bug with over 100+ hours of testing. It works fine the majority of the time, and the cinematic does not happen as frequently as in Vanilla.
If you do encounter a game-breaking bug with this modification on, don't bother the developers with bug reports. The best thing to do is turn this modification off and revert to a previous save.
If you want to give it a try and don't mind this stuff here's the file to make it work. Just use PatcherGUI to enable it.
edit Also, there was a compilation of this on youtube, but the video might be gone. I haven't had much luck in finding it recently.
When hunting for a specific game, you can check this link periodically to see the best current deal. -75% off will happen eventually, so just hold out!
These sound cool, but do they really disable achievements if you use them, as mentioned in this thread?
Edit: And are they super-powerful (essentially cheat characters) as well?
Here's something you may find interesting as a research item. Back in 2001 this fantastic fanfiction was written by user "Hobbes" about the original Xcom-Ufo Defense game. English wasn't his first language, so theres few gramattical/spelling goofs but its very readable overall and it has to be to this day one of my most enjoyed fanfiction peices.
XCOM - The Unknown Menace by Hobbes
Hopefully this gives you some insight on what makes a great story.
What do you mean by Asia region lock? AFAIK GMG keys are all worldwide without region locks on them. Also Steam account country can be changed at https://store.steampowered.com/account/change_country/
After Assassins Creed, the pirate one, shit on my saves due to stupid fucking cloud save "feature" (yes I'm still bitter) I use http://www.gamesave-manager.com/ for everything. I have way too much space given over to save files from automatic incremental backups of save folders as I play. I set it up whenever I install a game, and then forget it's there until something like that happens. And then I only lost 20 mins tops.
It's abandonware, and 2k/Firaxis are currently murdering the franchise with a new game, so it's not like the money you give spurs interest in making a sequel any more.
http://www.myabandonware.com/browse/genre/strategy-6/page/59/
Though yeah I bought the complete pack for $5 at some point in sales a few years ago.
Matter of factly, they did have coursework to prepare for the invasion; it was... less than helpful
While I actually recommend the game, bear in mind that it is a lot closer to the original XCOM than the 2012 version is, which has pros and cons.
It lacks the Eye candy and 3d engine of 2012 XCOM and that can be an issue if you are not used to indies/oldies.
Aside from graphics, it did not improve significantly on tactical gameplay compared to a game that is almost 20 years old. One could say "if it's not broken, don't fix it" but still ...
BUT ... it has an air combat system which is not purely RnG based. However, it's a bit of a rinse and repeat kill-escort, outmaneuver the big guy and shoot him form behind.
Sprites and micromanagement? More complex interception and research? It might as well be a completely different game!
No seriously, I'm getting tired of seeing people going through the 5 stages of loss over XCOM:EU. People need to face that it's not the game they wanted and move on.
I can see myself playing XCOM:EU for a long time coming, but it doesn't quite scratch that hardcore strategy itch for me. It's a blast to play, for sure, and I've already spent most of my free time since release playing it, but I'm starting to look heavily at Xenonauts for a more in depth, old-school style strategic game.
It says here "Most importantly, there will be a new Challenge waiting for you every day."
So it is daily.
Is there any chance we'd be able to use the ADVENT fonts like you see in these pieces of art in the release version? I love how the fonts look, and using them would make our posters fit in better with the rest of the world when they appear in-game.
Judging from the helmet it's the new Spectre class (https://xcom.com/war-of-the-chosen), which we know very little about. It looks like they are attacking an advent soldier, but that could easily be a skirmisher.
Good, was going to recommend that. Not because of map-packs being less even with their distribution of cover--that I like. But because map design is aesthetic and that would get hidden so in my mind you'd be non-vanilla then. Firaxis even worked under the idea of having the maps tell connected stories to make them feel lived-in. Looking for some of that and easter eggs was nice.
You'll need a traditional controller to navigate using the debug camera. You can see all of instructions on what you need and how to enable the camera in our blog.

> It's bizarre that it wasn't even mentioned in the patch notes, because frankly it's probably the biggest change they made (to single player at least).
That's weird, I didn't check any patch notes article, but the grenade nerf does appear to be listed here on the DLC release article:

It looks like there are a bunch of other stats, most of them with obscured names: https://xcom.com/php_modules/xcom_stats/conn.php
I'm guessing some of the really low numbers are "lowest number of days this occurred in", like:"Name":"PLATED_ARMOR_3","Value":105
There are at least some world stats available on the XCOM website. Seems to be off (68% of casualties to collateral damage? No game victories at all?) but a fun thing to look at.
The basic graph (coloured, on white background) was done using gnuplot, output as SVG. Then I loaded that into inkscape, where I added the pseudo-neon effect and also the black rounded rectangle as background.
P.S. Thanks for all the positive comments, I've been reading /r/xcom for tips the past week, so nice to give something back.
What's the size of the installer when you download it? It should be 20476896.
If you install hashtab, you should be able to find the sha-sum of the installer, which will tell us whether it downloaded correctly or was corrupted in transit. The sha sum should be 6623d6b7660e2a4ddf4c6c42cb7844ab555a03f6
- look for 'SHA-1' in rightclick -> properties -> file hashes.
If the sha-1 value is correct, then the installer is downloading correctly but something on your machine is making it act wonkily. Might be windows 8 related.
If the value is not correct, either your internet connection or antivirus is messing up the download, or the servers of nexus mods are not sending the right file to you. If so I can upload the exe to dropbox for you so you can try that.
New GPU, GTX 770\970. I can call GT640 good card for games only in my worst nightmare :) You know when you surounded by 10 f%cktoids and 10 Stun lancer and u need to reload king of nightmare :)
770 is pretty old but it's good Price\Value in my opinion. So far i5 4690k+770+16Ram cant run game on max, but with few small tweaks it can run pretty decent.
Not 60FPS stable, but rarely less than 30 in battle. With 1-2 pref. patch and NV game drivers I bet situation will improve quite a bit
Enemy Within games are different from vanilla so you will have to start a new game. It won't affect your ongoing game though, since they have two separate launchers.
As for the two other DLC's, I would get them while they are on sale. Otherwise its a pass for me. The missions are rather hard but the customization items are nice.
If you have a student email, Autodesk has education packs available for non-commercial use. Apps vary by PC/Mac and specific package but you'd want one with 3dsMax and Maya.
Blender is quite different but is the open-source equivalent and free even for commercial use. This is what Capnbubs and many others use, including professionals.
It really would be nice if LW devs added the capability to have gender-separated last names. JL did say it was possible, and gendered full custom names would also be possible to pull off in OpenXcom and Xenonauts...
You can use this tool I quickly whipped up to convert your existing namelist to plaintext, after which you can copy it back to the generator to make a B15 version of it.
>I would pay if three things happened: better voice acting, new models and textures for the new equipment (ex: SMG's not just being tiny assault rifles) and different appearances to visually distinguish alien leaders.
The thing is - this would require a crowdfunding campaign or an "angel investor" because stuff like this requires a budget. You won't get good voice actors or 3d modelers and pay them in enthusiasm and happy community.
I like what one developer of a KSP mod manager did. he has a patreon page where he gets his funding to be able to spend more time on CKAN.
While it doesn't strictly apply to the ABA version (though DerBK does specifically recommend changes to make the game easier on yourself when using the mod), the drones are taken from the Long War Alien Pack, which is meant to be used with the other Long War mods, including the Perk Pack which changes Specialists to start with Haywire.
If you want them out of the first few missions, though, that is a change you can make yourself - go to \Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\793861140\Config and open the XComGameData_CharacterStats.ini file in Notepad++ or a similar text editor, then find the drone entry ( [AdvDroneM1 X2CharacterTemplate] ) and change the 'MinForceLevel' value at the bottom of the stat block from 1 to like 3 or something (3 being when Stun Lancers start appearing in normal pods).
Basically what you can do is install Spotflux - or equivalent - and make sure it is running. Then open up steam, and you should see prices on the store page in Dollars.
At this point Steam will download the unlock for the game in your library.
Hit play and voilà!
I tend to keep Spotflux running the whole time I have Steam open until the UK release date, but that's just because I'm paranoid.
Please note that Steam says in its EULA that it does not want you using a VPN of any kind to mask your IP. However, I have been using this method for a while now and have never had any issues. Some argue that as long as you pay for the game in your own currency Steam turn a blind eye. Can't confirm this, but it's worked for me so far.
There's something called Spotflux which is free and can VPN you into the states.
Oh and very possibly. I've spent ages scouring the net to try to find stories of banned accounts. Lots of warnings (from Valve on their forums and other users) but no confirmed kills unless you buy from the store. I'm still not risking it though. :)
Same, I'm off to South of France with no computers for a week from Friday and wanted to get a little playtime in before hand. Chelloveck is right, but I would argue that you should check to see if your IP originates from the US before attmepting to log back into steam and 'play' (or finalise the download and unpacking of) XCom. Once connected to Spotflux, you can verify your rerouted IP using a site like: I connected, unpacked, installed and ran successfuly from a Seattle based IP, then I set Steam to offline mode and turned off Spotflux.
