Well, it took a week to scan and the binding of my artbook is looking a little worn but I did it! I hope you all enjoy looking through this artbook as much as I did. I encourage you to purchase your own hard copies to support the publication of this book and to encourage future artbooks. It really is worth the money and looks very nice on my bookshelf along with my other artbooks!
Also, this was a big job, so if you upload this anywhere else please credit me for scanning it!
The tweet in question.
We don't exactly know how this is going to affect people who installed the game through APK files or QooApp, so just to make sure, remember to bind your account.
That said, if installing the game through Google Play is the only requirement, that can be bypassed easily using a VPN like TunnelBear.
(link to Amazon Japan for purchase)
I scanned the first Magia Archive and will probably scan this one as well. I'm definitely going to purchase it as soon as it comes out! I'm thrilled we're getting a volume 2 so soon after the first volume!
Yes, you're right, but you can use TunnelBear without fear of paying. Once installed MagiReco JP app, just cut off VPN. I was worried for that also, but then game started normally, and even downloaded data once finished tutorial, so there's no worries for exceding 500MB limit.
Thank you so much! I used a cheap egg ornament and covered the loop hole as the base and then worked my way up with air dry clay. The coloring is just sharpie and patience, sure you can see the scribble marks up close but it somehow blends in nicely. ^ ^ ✧ Edit: forgot to add a link to find the ornaments, I believe these are the exact ones but they open up so I can color em, EGGAMENT
Some of the TunnelBear servers in Japan aren't correctly detected as being in Japan by the Play Store. What I usually do is open the Play Store app and select the account I want to use in the Play Store first (one that hasn't made any purchases or set up any billing method). Then I open TunnelBear and connect to the VPN. Afterward I open the Play Store in Chrome's incognito/private browsing mode, and see if it shows me the Japanese store with manga and stuff (or by checking what's listed as the location at the bottom of the page).
If it lists Japan, then I "Force Stop" the Google Play Store app in settings, clear the cache, open the Play Store app again and search for the app. If it doesn't list Japan, then I close the incognito tab and disconnect from the TunnelBear VPN, before reconnecting and opening a new incognito tab to check again.
Another thing worth doing before any of this is to make sure that the app listing indicates it's not available in your country rather than incompatible with your device. If the app is for whatever reason incompatible with your device, that error message will take precedence if you open the link in the Play Store app using the direct URL:
Hope that helps! I turned the VPN off before I started the game and allowed it to generate my in-game account, so I never had to deal with the "Country Code does not match" error mentioned in the error FAQ. However, I would think that your best chance of recovery in that case would be to follow the same trick I mentioned above regarding incognito mode to verify your location is actually being detected as the country it thinks your account was created in. No idea if MagiReco uses the same geolocation services as the Play Store for that, though.
There are a few apps that allow you to do stuff like that, the one I use requires root, but Parallel Space seems popular: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lbe.parallel.intl
No, you don't need to pay anything. You only need the VPN to download the app itself, not to play it and the app size is about 50 mb. You can uninstall TunnelBear after you have downloaded the app from the store.
Welcome! Some players have had the same issue previously. My recommendation would be to redo the account creation process, and if it doesn't work, use an alternative VPN app for Android like Hola.
I play on a five year old Motorola Droid Turbo. It gets hotter on stages that are graphically busy, but that's why I play with my phone on an ice pack. Otherwise I've never had any slowdown.
A lot of newer phones have gone with slower 8 core processors that use less power to save on battery. My Droid Turbo has a high speed 4 core. I looked at getting a new phone, but none in my price range are substantially better than the one I have.
You might look up the top ten apps for your OS/device that turn off background processes to boost speed. Some of them don't really do anything, but there are a few that do a really good job.
This is a Skribbl.io game me and MR friends from the Discord played together; a custom game was made with MR-related terms. If you haven't already join the discord! Otherwise, Enjoy

Method 1 with TunnelBear worked for me, getting it on my tablet.
Use TunnelBear VPN or VPN Gate, they are free services and they are pretty damn good. Tunnel bear though, can only give 500 megabytes worth of data which is usually enough to download Magia Record. You do have to make a Japanese account on Google play.
Worth adding that if your Magireco account was created with a VPN running in the background (like TunnelBear, Hola or VPNGate), you will need to select the same region on the VPN (most likely Japan), and turn it on before doing the account transfer process.
Try using a different type of connection. For instance, if your WiFi is enabled, use mobile data (or vice versa).
If this does not work, close your game completely, and then connect to a Japanese VPN before logging in. TunnelBear should do the trick.
This is the official Magia Record manga adaptation by Fuji Fujino! Currently 5 out of the 6 volumes are published in English (the series is ongoing) and you can buy them wherever manga is sold. I buy mine from Amazon (link directs to the Kindle editions, but if you want physical paperbacks you can just click on the individual book links and select the option there).
I did purchase Japanese Google Play gift cards, but was unable to claim with my Google Play account. In any case, I need to create Japanese Google Play account. Another issue I have is that NordVPN doesn't seem to affect the Google Play app.
Is anyone else having trouble getting MagiReco to start? I've been trying to log on for a while today, and after the F4 Samurai screen, I have the loading message appear for 2 to 3 seconds before everything goes black. For reference:
--I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10+. I was having trouble before installing the latest update today, and the problem still persists even after the update.
--I'm using TunnelBear as my VPN. It looks like it disconnected due to a 429 error. I think this is the most likely issue, and I've sent a support email to TB already.
--I have tried the basic fixes (closing all other apps, turning the phone on and off). About the only thing I haven't tried is uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
If you have any questions or need any more info, ask and I will provide what I can. Thank you.
Here is the crunchyroll news for my question: https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/01/07-1/madoka-magicas-magia-record-app-makes-the-jump-to-desktop
Plus the JP Magia record website has alot more merchandise than the US. I hope we get more as well as the game progresses.
It's never explained, but everytime I try to imagine what could have injured a magical girl that badly, for some reason my mind snaps immediately to the phrase "swarms of things".
Yeah her birthday is October 3rd, and the NA game was released June 25th, 100 days after that is also October 3rd
I know this doesn't exactly answer the question, but given I asked a similar question I feel I should say something.
In my question I was told that the cracked APKs might be out a while after the APK sites upload the originals. Right now APKPure still has 1.1.10, but APKCombo does have 1.1.12 now. Given that, the cracked APK might be out soon but I don't know for sure.
However what I did, was re-install the game via method 2 with EasyInstall and the APK on APKCombo, then transfer my account once installed and was successful. I'm sorry I know this doesn't exactly help, but I was able to get the update this way. (also remember to write down transfer info before reinstalling if you plan on doing what I did)
I am currently playing on a rooted unsupported phone by installing the app via adb (second method in the sticky thread). I think I don't get this message because my root "Magisk" has a hiding feature and can pass the SafetyCheck by google. I suggest trying it out.
Edit: tagging /u/Dry_AG so he can maybe update the sticky
Have you seen this tool I made? It accomplishes what you're doing but with a lot more customization, though requires using the Figma software.
> there's no flair for just the game in general so I put it with NA since it's the one I'm familiar with.
This kind of flair this would go under is one of the Fluff flairs, specifically NA Fluff.
Someday, wiki sites will enter the modern era and use the much friendlier CKeditor which is also open-source. Demo here: https://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-5/demo/
Much easier to make tables or anything, really, with the right build.
I am attempting to get my JP account back, but I am running into the "wrong country code" error.
After updating BlueStacks a couple days ago, I was unable to open Magia Record JP because it couldn't find it in the Play Store. So I decided to make the bad decision of deleting and reinstalling the game even though I hadn't set up a recovery password (won't ever do that again). After some back-and-forth with JP tech support, I was given a transfer ID and password. However, whenever I try entering the transfer details, I get the "wrong country code" error.
I originally downloaded the app using a TunnelBear VPN connection to Japan. I tried repeating these steps, but I continue to get the error. Is there anything else I can try?
If you have Android, Kaku is great for that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.fuwafuwa.kaku&hl=en_US
You should still learn basic Japanese, though. At least to understand the grammar.
Do you root your phone? If so you can use an app called Apps2SD Pro to shift the great majority if not all of your apps' data to a second partition on your SD card. (This is distinct from Android's native Apps2SD capability which only shifts the Apk and Lib data; Apps2SD Pro can shift all of an app's data, except for Apk data saved to system-reserved memory, to the SD card.)
(Creating the second partition will format your SD card data though, beware of that and back up if you need to. There's also some possible app performance hits to saving the entire app data to an SD card, but I can't say for certain since I tried to buy an SD card with the fastest data transfer rates and my phone wasn't exactly a high-end one to begin with.)
Google Play shows 1.1.12 and it's available on some apk sites.
Started with learning basic meanings for the ~2000 most common Kanji with Kanji Study (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mindtwisted.kanjistudy&hl=en_US), took a bit under a year. Then later used the core 6000k Anki Deck to learn vocab, took somewhere between 4-10 months I think. Interspersed with learning plenty of grammar too. Most of my practice comes from video games (Magia Record happened to be a very easy one to start with) and anime (Animelon and Daiweeb being great resources there.)
Still have a ways to go before approaching fluency though, especially speaking. Learning new words all the time
If people are struggling with the first option to play on their Android devices, I'll explain the issue I ran into and what I did to circumvent it.
I had a spare Google Account that WASN'T from Japan, but it wouldn't let me change it from USA to JP (probably required some form of payment option first).
What I did was launch my VPN (NordVPN) and access the game on the Play Store through the browser and NOT the app itself. Here's the link to the game on the playstore:
From there I simply installed the game on my device, downloaded all the assets (which took a really, really, really long time), and that's it.
Again, this is what worked FOR ME and may not work for you.
I know one YTer that used a VPN to watch a Japanese reality show on Netflix as it was airing, and that show had English subtitles. No idea if Magia Record would also have them, though. If you have a VPN, may as well try. According to RestorePrivacy, most free VPNs are blocked by Netflix or just aren't fast enough for streaming, That Netflix blocks any VPNs at all in my opinion shows just how much contempt they have towards their own paying customers.
(For reference, I'm referring to this video:
Timestamp 4:25 for proving there's English subs, 14:57 for when he shows the VPN working. Note that it's also an ad for NordVPN)
(RestorePrivacy link: )
What OS are you on? iOS VPNs are somewhat unreliable.
Even on Android, the process might flop if the VPN app you're using is having a rough day. Personally, I've found the most success with ProtonVPN.
I can change my country with the VPN, (if it makes a difference, I'm using TunnelBear) but there isn't an option to change on my account...? Though! I just realized that although the phone recognizes that I'm in Japan, it was also showing my actual location, kinda listed underneath it? Like at the bottom of my browsing page. I turned location off in phone settings, and while that hasn't affected the app store yet, maybe I'm on the right track.
I tried that: I turned on TunnelBear, changed location to Japan, went to PlayStore, which resulted in the same old EU store that's always avaible without any VPN.
And this isn't just with TunnelBear either, I tried a few other random VPN appls from PlayStore and everything resulted in said same old EU store. Strange.
They did sent an e-mail to me today requesting further data. I gave out what I could recall, hopefully they will be able to find it (I could answer all but 3 of their wants).
Idk why they are asking for my transfer code though, if I had that I wouldn't need to contact them lol
That is most generous of you, for a complete stranger. I am honestly taken aback by the kindness. I would rather not run 2 accounts especially not on the same server so if I do manage to get my initial JP account back I just want to continue with it.
Yeah you do seem lucky not to mention the fact that she is 2 stars which means easy to get. I think I just became attached to too many of the characters, curse(?) the good writing!
Bunch of them are 2-3 stars but a good portion are 4 stars :/
Ah well, it can't be helped.
Yeah I would rather not discuss account details here either. I do have some TunnelBear data left (got extra 980 MB by installing it to PC), so that shouldn't be a problem.
You seem really keen on keeping me in Kamihama eh? That's flattering I must say :D
I hope they will find and get your account. I don't know the timings though.
Honestly, as FGO was the only mobage I played before, MR's is absolutely great for the mere fact of NOT changing the damned bind code each cursed time I change devices.
Sure, I'll gladly give it to you, I'm sure you'll treat the megucas well rather than being forgotten in limbo. I offered it in the case you wouldn't be able to get back your own, as I wouldn't want you to stop playing. I can give you the credentials immediately of course, rather, it should be recommended in order to farm the current event. I don't know if you'll be able to deal with both account if get back your own though. With my limited time I would never be able to play more than an account, I gave up FGO JP for this reason after all. I guess I'm lucky to be a Tsuruno lover(?). I mean, to me, as long as I get to stay with Mightiest it's fine. I dreaded past week because I thought I couldn't continue playing the game due to bugs.
Obviously, I'll PM you, or maybe start a chat, since, you know, exchanging so many messages through comments isn't actually ideal. However, I need to warn you that, as such account is in country code hell due to the fact that I've used up all tunnelbear data. So, in order to access it, you would need at least to start the MR app with TunnelBear set on JP's server. Are you still willing to adopt it?
I'm rather embarassed to read that, I'm really just trying to not make you give up the game, as I want to share the joy of megucas with you as well.
I managed to get the JP version working on BlueStack. This is how I did it:
Just download a VPN app like TunnelBear, switch it on selecting Japan.
Ceate a Google Play account for JP. You will need to confirm your phone number. Don't give a fake one since you will need the code that will be sent to it.
Log on this account and search for Magia record on the Play store. I found it even by searching for the english title. Next, download the app and open it. At this point I recommend turning the VPN off since the initial update will blow your data limit right away.
I hope this will help you.
I'm in the same boat, I used TunnelBear to download NA too so I did the same for the Japanese Server. Suprisingly, the application is not compatible with my device too, so the best thing to do is just use EasyInstall or some other method of installing it.
Nah, you just need to do what I said.
If TunnelBear was still on when you were rerolling or whatever, the country code will be that of Japan, so you'll need to connect to a Japanese VPN host before first running the game (or like I said, clearing app storage and running the game again).
If the VPN was off when you created the account then nothing else is required other than clearing app storage before logging in, to ensure that the country code is set to your actual country.
In addition to what /u/nighty_amy said, TunnelBear is only required once per installation, future updates can be downloaded without issues as long as the newly created Google/Apple account remains on the phone.
But if you really want a free VPN that can be used anytime without restrictions, I would strongly suggest downloading ProtonVPN. They are the one free VPN provider that doesn't do anything shady with your data in exchange of their services.
※ Note 1: In some rare occasions, TunnelBear might experience technical difficulties that could interfere with the instalation process. Downloading a different VPN from Play Store and continuing from step 4 would suffice to get around this problem.
※ Note 2: The game can be updated through Google Play from now on, either manually or automatically. A VPN connection will not be necessary unless the newly created Google account is removed from the device (in which case, the whole process will have to be repeated).
All of this is from the installation guide, and is the recommended option to use for Android.
If you have your own VPN, then you can use that instead of TunnelBear.
What error message do you get when trying to install from ADB?
(BTW, you don't need to pay for a VPN or leave the app installed, TunnelBear and ProtonVPN are free and can be removed once the installation process ends.)
I made a new account for the JP game and I'm getting constant 110 errors while the game is downloading (as of writing this, I'm doing the tutorial battle). I'm assuming the reason why my phone is doing this is because it's an old S5 or I've got some setting turned off related to the wifi or something. FYI, it never did this when I downloaded the JP game on my J3. I would appreciate it if anyone could help!
Edit: I restarted the download and instead started downloading it with a vpn... I stopped getting errors but TunnelBear only gives you 500Mb to work with lol
Since I've had this issue for months, I'm hoping that there's a different issue with your game. So far I could probably play the game on a vpn, but the moment I turn it off it gives network errors and doesn't work...
I suggest trying a free VPN just so you can see if that fixes it. They're usually pretty limited in data amounts, but it's good enough for a few minutes at least :) (i personally have used TunnelBear, not sure what else is out there)
Make sure that your are transferring the account from the same country where it was originally created, in the sense of IPs. The process is explained in our subreddit FAQ.
If you already tried that, use a different VPN because TunnelBear tends to derp.
Nice! She is hard to find!
I wish I had the cash for all the MagiReco girls figures! Just a couple weeks ago I decided to stop denying myself and bought the Homura figure I really, really wanted.
I've owned a few figures in the past, but one thing I learned is that just a little dust over time can discolor some parts. It varies by the manufacturing and painting methods. I don't have enough figures to warrant buying a big display shelf. After a lot of looking I managed to find a fairly affordable single-figure acrylic display case of the right size.
You can only get this costume by purchasing the second volume of Magia Archive, an artbook. It comes with a serial code that you can use to retrieve Iroha's pajamas (by the way, for some reason the serial code option is only available on Android or an emulator, iOS doesn't have it).
The artbook is absolutely beautiful so it's a good purchase on its own, but the serial code is a nice touch! The good news is that the book is eligible for Amazon Japan's international shipping program so you can buy it directly from them.
I can upload the panels, but I'm not planning on doing a full scan of the manga as it's a lot of work.
If you're really interested in seeing the full thing, you can buy it on Amazon Japan. It's fortunately eligible for Amazon Japan's international shipping program, so I was able to buy it directly with no problems and got it in a few days. I think the total I paid was like $16.
I found the following app to post mine: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.agooday.screentime
Pretty simple UI (the user interface, not the Tamaki) and has an option to turn on restrictions, but isn't required.
You can find a workaround for this error in the subreddit FAQ in order to be able to delete these two files.
Also FYI, TunnelBear frequently acts up so you may want to use a different VPN once you're done with the root stuff.
I've tried both TunnelBear and VPNNeko, and they both give me an error when I try to access the app while having one of them on, depending on region.
But yes, the app thankfully works without VPN.
There isn't such a thing as a "Japanese Google account".
You have to follow the steps shown in the tutorial: install TunnelBear, use a Japanese VPN, create a new Google account using your phone, and then install the game through Google Play if your device is compatible.
Speed definitely depends a lot on the VPN. I've played FGO for over a year now (which is another mobage Aniplex is involved with) and like 8 months ago it stopped letting me play for no reason. The only way I could get on was with VPNs. However, any free VPN that you try will generally be very slow. You can try free trials for better VPNs to test if it makes a noticeable difference in speed for you. Of course, the trials only last a little while... The two I'd recommend trying are SaferVPN and ExpressVPN.
Also it's worth noting that this might not be related to IP blocking at all. For me, my problem with FGO resolved itself automatically after about 2-3 months... Basically, when you try to connect to something, your ISP routes a course to that destination. Sometimes they can route you through a path that it's never taken you through before, which can result in you getting a dead pathway. VPN's can get around that by routing you through a different course. Eventually your connection may start using a pathway that works again on its own though.
Did you also check that your device is compatible with the game? (For example by going through the official page and clicking the Google Play link there to go to the game's Google Play page. It'll show you there in English if you device isn't compatible, in which case you have to do the installing using one of the other ways.)
The 2nd and 3rd solutions always work, you are probably not doing them right.
Well, that sucks. Try the following:
I think you should be able to buy gems as long as your device has a Google account linked to it. Make sure Play Games is updated as well.
If you're using the desktop version, you need to enable the subreddit style. On mobile, only Reddit is fun is able to interact with these spoiler tags as far as I know.
