> 1. More technologically advanced
Dishwashers? You mean that thing that clogs my kitchen or my washing maschine with drying mode included that clogs my bathroom? Amazon.de or Uber.com/de. I hope he understands that those are multinational companies. And eventhough German internet isn't that awesome, I still can write posts like these on reddit.
> 2. The size of everything
Including their waistelines, right? Big isnt always better. I have always seen American House building using wood as unsustainable way to build. House might be bigger, but for how many generations one can live in that house? I've seen hundreds of pictures with entire cities flatened by a tornado or hurricane. Insulation is pretty shit and wood can rot away. Dont get me started on windows ...
> 3. A shared culture and language
Good thing that a lot of Europeans speak two languages. Some, like me, are fluent in three languages (will add two more with Spanish and French) and others went over the top witg 5+ languages. I've went to all of Western and Southern Europe and guess what: due to people speaking languages that I speak too, I've felt at home too.
> 4. Our laws
Mandatory sentencing, civil forfeiture, plea bargain, bail bond industry. I dont want to get startet on this Free Speech-thing, because we had this over and over here, but the thought, that only weapons can protect liberties is more than stupid. I've said this once and again: the attrocities of the "Patriot Act" were brought in even with AR-15s everywhere and this law alone pretty much turned the US into a paranoid police state.
> 5. Culture
Subjective. If you dont know anything else than your local stuff, you will view local stuff as your best. Narrow mindset.
After signing up to Uber, enter the code 'UberLoveMEL430787' into the promo field of the app to get a bonus $30 credit for your first ride (if you use less than the $30 on your first ride, it's all used up). This code should work until the end of April.
This bonus $30 credit is on top of a sign up bonus of $20 for signing up through a referral link (the referrer also gets a bonus $20). This $50 is enough for a fairly long journey, and saved me recently when I was stranded at 2am. The driver was great.

It really depends, but this is a good overview:
Also, I recommend using Uber if you need a car service (Referral code, we both get a credit: https://uber.com/invite/f9lv7)
If you're looking for some company, let me know -- 23 year old guy, works in mid-market, lives in SoMa. -- +1.925.922.3043 (fuck it, I don't check Reddit often enough)
Otherwise, /r/SFr4r does wonders.
Well, I just got a price estimate from uber.com for the exact ride I took today. The price estimate was $7.79. I paid $4.25 for my ride from Tri-City taxi. So I saved $3.54! It's also just as easy to get a taxi; once in awhile you deal with a fiasco, but you learn which taxis are reliable and which aren't.
Taxis are cheaper, period, end of sentence. So the real question is - why would anyone use an uber?
I also don't deal with apps - I have a flip phone (it is my preference).
Today's the day! Rain or shine (and it's looking like mostly shine) Pacific Flea Spring Re-opening is happening. For first time Lyft and Uber riders, here are some promo codes for discounted rides to the flea.
You can book regular taxi through Uber which is charged at the regular taxi rate (by law.)
Or, if you book the more premium (and well worth it) uber black, it's a bit more. Keep in mind you don't get the 10% cabcharge fee with either.)
[shameless plug] Use my referral code uberfromjosh before 21st of Jan and get $20 off your first ride (and I get $20 as well)
Bought beers in the bars rather than outside and didn't have as much of a wait. The beer carts they all had set up were a lifesaver.
Also, use uber use uber use uber.
Park a few blocks away even for free and just get a short ride down. It cost me and 4 buddies $10 total to uber in from Lakewood to the show.
honestly, it sounds like some driver signed up using your step father's phone number. I'd try to mention this when talking to support.

Can you try to log on through uber.com? It will ask you for your phone number through the login page and if it allows you to enter a password, it's likely that this is the case.
As i mentioned in the previous uber thread, I have had 10 journeys with uber so far and i've paid absolutely nothing out of my own pocket thanks to the referral scheme.
So i'm a fan, for now. Till they abandon the referral scheme because of people like me.
Have a feeling this dude is trying to score free credits for himself. I can do the same thing...
BESIDES that, Delta just gave out a $25 credit for new users the other day. Promo Code: DELTA25
After signing up, enter the code 'UberLoveMEL430787' into the promo field of the app to get a bonus $30 credit for your first ride (if you use less than the $30 on your first ride, it's all used up). This code should work until the end of April.

if you're stuck or want to pay a lot more for luxury, you can try Uber. Base fare starts at ¥30 and a short ride from Fuxing Lu to Suzhou creek would cost you ¥60. But if you're in a bind, or you want to ball out give it a go.
Full Disclosure: If you sign up through the link above you get ¥100 credit and I get ¥100 credit.
...How are you getting from PHX to hotel-near-arena? Might be a bit of an expensive cab ride, so I'm assuming a hotel shuttle?
Haus Murphy's is worth the Uber cab if you can find one up there and like German food. It's really tasty.
YardHouse is the most decent of the chains at Westgate, if you want to stay REALLY close.
Regarding reception, you're not Kings fans, and we're used to having our games overrun by opposing fans, so it's no big deal.
you can always request a ride from far away (ie setting your pick up location anywhere in the world). If Uber doesn't serve this location it will tell you so in the app. Else you have uber.com/cities but it's not a map.
Take a couple Ubers?
https://uber.com/invite/uberdudefoods
That code will get you $20 off your first ride, which is about what it would cost to go from West Allis to the museum. Plus, each person can use it so if two of you use it on the way there (4 people per car) and two use it on the way back you won't have to pay anything.
Full disclosure, I also get a referral fee if you sign up using that link, but who cares! Free rides!
In response to your taxi question, Uber (which is a transportion service) is going to be at Coachella this year. The service is cheaper than a taxi and I don't imagine you have to wait long for one. If you don't have an account already you can use this link -> Uber and you will get $20 credit for the service. Hope this helped!
On the Uber note; if you sign up with uber using https://uber.com/invite/uberjonniebgood you'll start with $20 in credit. And then, immediately once you sign up, add 'hipmunk' to the promotions box and get another $25 in credit - $45 total. If you've never used it and they do have cars out there, I imagine it would be perfect.
If you are already signed up for Uber, add 'hipmunk' to the promotions for a $25 credit.
I was told by an Uber driver in LA that they are sending e-mails out to drivers and requesting them to go to Indio.
On that note, if you sign up with uber using https://uber.com/invite/uberjonniebgood you'll start with $20 in credit. And then, once you sign up, add 'hipmunk' to the promotions box and get another $25 in credit - $45 total. If you've never used it and they do have cars out there, I imagine it would be perfect.
Oh my god Uber has been a godsend for me. I'm disappointed when I land at an airport in a city without it. I do wish that the US had UberLUX like London and Sydney. I like having a Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7-Series at my fingertips, but a Lincoln Towncar will have to do.
Oh and if you are new to Uber and want $20 in free ride credit you can use this code: ubernorth77
Russian Alex has been my go-to car service guy for the airport. I've used him four times now and he's always on time. I also text him the flight number of my return trip and he's there even if it's 11:30PM. It's $45 each way. 201.455.1422.
Alternatively if you haven't used Uber yet, use my promo code and we each get $20 off: https://uber.com/invite/8l4qt. It shouldn't cost you more than $20 to get to EWR after the discount.
On my planet each time that I call support and hang up there's a followup email from the system which allows me to reply and ask any unanswered questions or ask for clarification from a native english speaker who can do stuff like provide uber.com links that can give me reliable confirmation of Uber policies.
Never happened yet but it could because support is set up that way.
Contact the police, file a complaint. Consider the money gone.
Change passwords, inform the bank, ask for advice.
Never respond/reply to "strangers" who try to contact you about the case.
Do not contact criminals/numbers, no matter how angry you are.
Scammers use opportunities. They are not interested in your or details. They throw out 100 lines, and two fishes will bite. $100 is nice, $1000 is a party with whisky. The money is probably in countries where you'll need to bribe officials to get things done. Scammers like that are even in companies like UberEat. They send out genuine Uber.com newsletters from ""comprimised"" mail servers with forged clickbait links. Perfect cover.
Here is how it works in the Netherlands.
People fish through whatsapp like "Mom, my phone went down, please send me money." The parent wires $X, and the amount immediately gets transferred to countries outside the EU. Police can visit the address the call came from, just only to find some youth who has no idea how stupid he/she was for lending his/her bank account for €50 cash. Sometimes it's shocked elderly people who did not know their bank account and/or phone were hacked for criminal transactions.
Stay vigilant. Never, ever, wire money or buy things from non-trusted and/or non-validated sources. Family lost $2500 in a scam.
>Just got the same text.I’m changing my password just in case .
It's literally the domain at uber.com. That's their website, it isn't fake. It'd be one thing if it were a jumbled up tinyurl or whatever, but anytime it's their actual domain, don't be afraid to click
As a gig worker myself, I find it rude when people ask me how much money I make and it happens a lot. Generally, no matter what anyones job is, it is rude to ask them how much they make. I took it upon myself to use the internet to go to Uber.com and it says in St. Louis as a driver the estimated weekly earnings are $987, tips included and that is based on 40 hours. From my understanding, this is also after you have worked for so long - you have to work your way up to get to this point. Then I used my calculator to find the hourly rate to be $24.68.
For fact checking purposes:
Your bank account should say Raiser Inc.
Google it yourself and print out the info for them. I think it's also on the Waybills? If not it is somewhere still in the app.
Go to Uber.com on a PC The pay statements absolutely have your name on them.
It's not hard, not their job to prove your income, that's YOUR job.
I'm having the same issue. Only I get no " security app is on another device" option. It just forces a pop up to the iOS (iPhone) settings app to do it there. I can't get access to codes or QR. I tried via web and it's not an option at uber.com
Any tips?
It must have been California specific. They gave us a share of surges and claimed they would only take 25%. They probably only did this because of pressure from the courts and not figuring out how to just change their interpretation again. Surges are not considered a part of the fare anymore and they are entitled to 100%.
https://uber.com/blog/keeping-you-in-the-drivers-seat-2/
Yea it is really scummy. They publicly say 25% and are deceptive on purpose because they only consider the time and distance lines of the fare as the fare.
It depends on the market (and if they have more restrictions than your current market).
This is for Lyft, but should apply to Uber too, note: you can do UberEats anywhere, I think?),
where can you drive (here is the map from the video).
Also note, some individual markets are closed to outside addresses (check uber.com for what local driving requirements are).

I haven't done this in a looong time! But if I remember right, there's some way to basically send either a tracking link on the web, or through the app, to someone else. If it's through the app, or the link is clearly uber.com, then I'd feel good that this was an actual uber. It should show all the usual things about the uber -- what the car looks like, what the driver looks like, the driver's name, the car's license plate. If there's even the tiniest doubt that this is an uber (or lyft, or whatever), I'd abort.
I think it's just way smarter to arrange your own transportation

I can't get the payment statements to load on the uber.com portal. It just hangs with a circle throbber endlessly circling. I've tried on several different computers with different browsers. Is this happening to anyone else? Anyone know a trick to get those payment statements?
I recommend it.. If you do I think you can get a free $20 credit by using my link after your first ride. (as do I in full disclosure) https://uber.com/invite/1ha6b is my link.
Honestly - I had no intentions promoting Uber in this discussion!
But appreciate all your advice!
If you are staying in the Los Angeles/DTLA area, then Uber, Lyft, and the subway is the way to go. It is well priced, and much more convenient and affordable than calling a cab. Uber [https://uber.com/invite/v5gss] or Lyft [https://www.lyft.me/]
I'm actually pretty ignorant in this area. I haven't looked into Lyft at all - as a passenger or driver. This is more of a "for fun" thing for me, I really enjoy driving. On a cost/benefit analysis, I just don't think to put in the effort to decide between the two, switch, or drive for both. I like the Uber set up, it's working for me and I love meeting all the new people, so I'm just sticking with that.
That said, if Lyft is paying better, has better service, or in any way looks like a better option, I think people should definitely check it out. I always would like to think Uber is always checking them and others out, so they can constantly (attempt) to offer the best service.
Here's a referral code that will get you $20 in free rides
Keep in mind you can also google "uber promo" and probably find the same thing. I appreciate the referral credit of course, but I don't want anyone to think they need to use my code only.
Also, if you're a new user you get an additional $20 account credit if you sign up with this link. https://uber.com/invite/xup2z (full disclosure, I get a $20 credit as well when you use that link, so it's a win-win)
Do something silly. It doesn't have to be expensive.
We're going to a frozen yogurt place for dessert but we are going there in STYLE. Hahaha. Our city has UBER car so we're treating ourselves to a free ride with a referral code. They have one now for a free $20 credit towards your first ride. If you both use it, then you can have a free ride back and forth. Here's a few referral codes.
https://www.uber.com/invite/uberinlove https://uber.com/invite/uberuniversity https://www.uber.com/invite/uberfreemoney$20
Not sure if this is too late. If you've never used Uber before, you get a free $20 off your first trip. (And I get a free $20 too if you use this link: https://uber.com/invite/8l4qt) As long as it isn't a crazy busy night or there's horrible weather, it's always cheaper than car service in my experience.
