He's in the right here. The person that actually won has around 300 followers on twitch.
Edit: Check this page, it says

Not to get real on a joke comment but many African countries really want the west to stop sending them so many clothing donations. Local manufacturing can't get off the ground at all when up against $1 used clothing imported from the west.
In general, developing countries are becoming very tired of being responsible for the first world's waste.
Jeff have hinted twice at a looking for group-system in game so obviously it's not a guarantee but it seems likely to me that this feature will come to the game eventually.

2: https://kotaku.com/overwatch-players-want-to-queue-for-roles-blizzard-say-1825028223
> Kaplan stressed, however, that he thinks the complaints that have led people to ask for role-based queuing are valid. He just wants to solve some of the problems people think role-based queuing would address before trying to implement such a system. That starts with grouping. Kaplan figures that if people grouped-up more, they’d find more people amenable to the idea of letting them play the roles and heroes they actually enjoy playing, rather than being disappointed by the hands that fate (and matchmaking) deal them. The problem, he explained, is that Overwatch doesn’t do a great job of helping players find people they’d actually want to group up with right now.
>“I do think people know what role they want to play before they play, I do think people would have more fun playing in a premade group than just sort of randomly hoping the matchmaker finds them someone with the same values as them, and I do think people’s reasons for not wanting to group are actually valid right now,” he said.
>“I think we need to address all those things at once before we can just get to a role queue.”
Overbuff dosent need a update, it's the blizzard that needs to release an accurate API over match history so that websites like Overbuff can relay the information. Right now it just relays info from https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/career/pc/eu/<battletag> to the best of it's knowledge.
I asked Bill Warnecke about this the other day, and he responded that unfortunately the guys who would normally have implemented this; have been dead busy (obviously) implementing the support for the OWL Web app.
my sister got me a dinosaur flask for christmas and it was a case of the ol' "look around the room for channel name inspiration". that very same flask has sat unwashed by my sink for well over 6 months now, i should probably clean it...
it's this one, if anyone is that interested: https://uedata.amazon.com/Sigg-Primeval-Water-Bottle-0-4-Litre/dp/B004LQA3S8
It's not about the viewers, it's about the players. The games are done between Hawaii and Shanghai of course the time is going to be suitable for them. Blame the globe if you want to blame something.
For those wondering what are we watching for 8 hours, it's a couple of streamers throughout the event, similar to the Pink Mercy Charity Event.
List of streamers and more info here: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/news/22380666
I find it funny when people say things like this, because back in beta, the competitive system was designed specifically to promote the idea of progression. The community spoke out about it, en masse, and the system was changed to better place players at their appropriate rank, to promote balanced games over all else (rather than artificially 'climbing the ladder').
It's working as intended.
> Keep in mind that because there were movement and aim offset between two images, the peripheral distortion will cause very notable errors in the estimate. The farther away from your crosshair the higher the uncertainty of the measurement. This can only get a very, very rough guesstimate of the range at which Ashe's zoom FOV might fall under
> 95/53 = ~1.8x magnificication (55.79% of hipfire focal length)
> 123/63 = ~1.95x magnification (51.22% of hipfire focal length)
> 38/20 = ~1.9x magnification (52.63% of hipfire focal length)
> Calculating assuming hipfire FOV of 103 degree in OW measurement:
> 2*arctan( 55.79% * tan(103deg/2) ) = ~70deg FOV
> 2*arctan( 51.22% * tan(103deg/2) ) = ~66deg FOV
> 2*arctan( 52.63% * tan(103deg/2) ) = ~67deg FOV
> What we can determine is that this is very obviously nowhere near Ana or Widow's zoom FOV of 51deg, even when accounting for the measurement errors.
> Once Ashe is available, her FOV can be exactly determined using the approach here:
> To scale your Widow/Ana zoom sens to Ashe, one simply take the arclength coefficient that you have been using (i.e. coefficient of 1 if you're using 37.94%) and multiply it by the focal length ratio.
> In other words, just this formula:
> Equivalent Ashe zoom sens = (Widow Zoom Sens / 37.94%) * Tan(AshFOV/2) / Tan(103deg/2)
> Or use this handy calculator here: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/1a0o5z7ova
A similar thing happened in Croatia - sprEEEzy, #1 ranked player in our region, TOP10 EU at one point - got declined, while random rank 60 players are on the voting list. WTF Blizzard

They're David Clarks. They make aviation headsets. These are probably custom made for the league with nicer drivers, IIRC you can actually see OW logo pattern on the cups.

Blizzard will pick the nominees.
This Blizzard blog post actually has a lot more information than their official world cup page.
>First, we will select up to ten nominees per eligible country with expertise in the field, including analysts, coaches, statisticians, and other authorities in the Overwatch esports community. From there, players in each of those countries will vote for who they want to see selecting the roster for their nation.
nah. https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/21665270
Qualification: From today through the end of Competitive Season 9 (April 28), we’ll be tracking the average skill rating (SR) of each country’s top 150 players. Each country’s progress can be tracked on the Overwatch World Cup website.
It's shown that Scoped FOVs only clamp the vertical dimension, therefore by inference we can tell that the in-engine parameter is simply assigned an exact value for vertical Angle of View.
This is the first time that the FOV have been proven with a rigorous approach, previous attempts by others all employed approximate methods that involve eyeballing images and trying to rationalize "neat numbers" from educated guesses.
This also shows a finding that was never discussed before -- the "38 zoom sens" recommendation actually only applies to 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios.
For 21:9, the game actually crops top-bottom for hipfire and extends left-right for scope, so you're technically less zoomed-in compared to hipfire when using an aspect ratio wider than 16:9
Prior calculators by other people all do not consider these extra information, especially certain notoriously paywalled conversion websites which often tends to be wrong, so going forward this one will be the sole and comprehensive authority.
For summary, the following are all the zoom sens values that correspond to an arclength coefficient of 1:
Hero | 16:10 | 16:9 | 21:9 |
---|---|---|---|
Widow | 37.89% | 37.89% | 49.73% |
Ana | 37.89% | 37.89% | 49.73% |
Ashe | 51.47% | 51.47% | 67.55% |
Also interesting to note -- Ashe's recoil for hipfire and zoom are both 1 degrees exactly.
Confirmed they will be competing in Blizzard Sponsored APAC LAN League in Taiwan (https://playoverwatch.com/zh-tw/blog/20653216) Starting April 8 (runs for 13 weeks). $275k USD prize pool.
Very excited to see these guys compete at LAN. Glad they got this opportunity.
You can buy Yorkshire Gold on Amazon. Just so you know. :-)
(Whole Foods have PG Tips, Safeway carry Tetley's, everywhere has Twining's. The American tea situation has improved markedly in my time out here.)
From what I recall, the scene has been mostly community run until now outside of few big tournaments, but EA just revealed their Global Series for this year: https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/compete/overview
Shaiulin has impressed me so much on Tracer. Guangzhou plz pick him up 😂
Looking forward to seeing Moowe shine more on widow! Hopefully the HK tanks can be more decisive and aggressive in the coming matches.
>In Overwatch, whether your MMR goes up or down is contingent on winning or losing. But there are a number of factors that determine how much that rating goes up or down. For example, what map you’re playing on and whether you were attacking or defending is factored in. We know the win rates on attack/defend on all of the maps and we normalize accordingly. Not all wins and losses are equal. We also look at your individual performance on each of the heroes you played during the match. Everyone has better and worse heroes and we have tons of data showing us what performance levels should be like on those heroes. We also look at your opponents and whether or not their matchmaking rating is higher or lower than yours. These are just a few of the things that are considered when determining how your skill should go up or down.
>Skill ratings will be visible at the beginning of every match. As you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.
Are you actually serious? This is an exhibition tournament. There isn't even a prizepool, and half the players were chosen by fan votes. We knew from the very first announcement that this was for show, rather than being an actual competitive tournament with winnings.
If there was a prizepool at stake, I guarantee this situation never would have happened. But there's no money involved and clearly the spectacle was deemed more important.
Christ, some of you people here are acting like Blizzard is trying to matchfix.
Here's a calculator I whipped up
For summary, the following are all the zoom sens values that correspond to an arclength coefficient of 1:
Hero | 16:10 | 16:9 | 21:9 |
---|---|---|---|
Widow | 37.89% | 37.89% | 49.73% |
Ana | 37.89% | 37.89% | 49.73% |
Ashe | 51.47% | 51.47% | 67.55% |
It's not about wanting OW to be a generic FPS shoter (nice job going to the extremes for the sake of your argument), its about it to REMAIN FPS FIRST and Moba/rpg SECOND.
FPS's have different goals. Overwatch is about objectives, CSGO is about neutralizing the enemy and/or difusing the bomb.
However all FPS's have something in common (even the class based FPS's): is about shooting. Therefor, Aiming.
If i want to shoot, a play a FPS. If i want to control armies, i play a RTS. If i want to control a single hero with abilities and gear it up, i play a MOBA.
Overwatch is an hybrid FPS with moba elements, but FIRST OF ALL, a FPS shooter, like the official website promotes it: "In Overwatch, you control one of several heroes in competitive 6-person team shooting matches. Battle over objectives, take down the other team, and achieve victory."
We don't have to wait to see, from their blog post:
> Had to miss the game? Don’t worry, our replay system has you covered. Overwatch World Cup replays will be available for a month after the game originally airs, so you can analyze as many games as you want during the feature’s beta test.

Remember, four teams from the Americas, six teams from Europe, and six teams from Asia qualify. US, Canada, Brazil, China, Korea, and ANZ qualify automatically. (source for both points)
That leaves one spot in Americas, six in Europe, and three in Asia up for grabs.
My predictions (italics are prequalified):
Americas: US, Canada, Brazil, Peru
Europe: Sweden, Germany, Finland, Spain, CIS & Baltic, Russa (dark horse: France)
Asia: China, Korea, ANZ, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan (dark horse: Japan)

A once heard some advice that I'll share with you: to truly succeed at something you need two things, obsession and work ethic.
I highly recommend this book. I wish I could have read it at your age.
> Starting today, we will begin tracking the skill ratings of the top 100 players from every country to determine each country’s average rating. Then, in April, we’ll use those average ratings to identify which 32 countries from around the world have the most skilled players. These countries will move on to our live qualifiers (detailed below) where they will battle in groups of eight for a chance to compete on the BlizzCon 2017 stage.
So a country's "strength" is going to be based off of the ladder results, which, I think, should in turn mean that the people eligeable for vote should be part of the top 100 players of each country, anything else wouldn't make much sense, right?
If it's going to be that way, I think this will be great. My biggest problem with last year's world cup was that some countries were weakened by personalities that aren't necessarily the best of the best (no offense) being voted in, while other countries didn't have that problem, because the well known players there were known for their skill. It'd be great if they'd fix that.

Great talk with Jae, really appreciate him taking the time out of his busy schedule and being so open about the trials an tribulations for the Defiant so far. Considering all the hurdles, they've rolled with the punches very well. Actually, there's a level 0. And it apparently it's VERY tough to climb out of.
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/game/endorsements/
That said, I've never seen a level 0 and I don't know what punishments cause it.
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/news/patch-notes/pc/
"Those who consistently maintain a high endorsement level will receive periodic rewards, while those who display negative behavior or accrue suspensions will lose their endorsements."
I think they already have an incentive program in place, I agree they don't need to give out XP. What they need to do is let us know what the incentives are so we feel compelled to endorse and be endorsed.
Nah, I didn't randomly select people from the subset. I definitely didn't word that correctly, but there's a search function on playoverwatch.com that gives you a list of all players with that name (non-case sensitive) so in the end I only had to send ~12 million requests to get all these names. Still, getting blacklisted was a concern of mine :p.

Arcade comp modes follow the same rules as regular comp in terms of T500 eligibility. One of the requirements is playing one game per week. Separate thing from SR decay; T500 has this requirement:
>The Top 500 system is also undergoing a little refinement. In season 2, players will need to play at least 50 games to be eligible for a spot in the Top 500, and they’ll also need to remain active throughout the season if they want to hold on to their spot. Anyone who hasn’t played a competitive match within seven days will automatically drop out of the Top 500.
What I don't like about the increased spawn times in overtime is that it is a hidden mechanic. You need to happen to know this mechanic exists and how it works to adjust your gameplay accordingly.
On the other hand, the increased spawn times if the attackers have more people on the objective (see patch notes of July, 27th 2017 under "General": "Adjusted the respawn timing to limit defensive stalling strategies when the offensive team has a clear advantage and plays aggressively" https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/game/patch-notes/pc/) are not as problematic IMO. You already need to have more people on the point to build up the capture meter faster and there's an UI element for that (the little number). So you make use of the hidden mechanic by doing things you would already naturally do. Not a big problem here. But waiting for the overtime before attacking is against what you would normally do and I don't like that kind of hidden mechanics.
IMO hidden mechanics are usually bad gameplay design. However, I can't think of any other way to solve those stalling issues right now. :/
The Latam Region for OW Open is just ridiculous. While the official page for the event (https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/esports/open_division) includes most Latinoamerican countries, ESL is only allowing three (Mexico, Chile, argentina), and a ESL Mod stated that that's how Blizzard set the rules on their discord. This is outrageous in my opinion, since there's plenty of Latinoamerican talent outside those 3 countries.
I'm still hoping this will get to Blizzard and they'll correct this situation before the deadline.
Soccer is a British word that British people now hate because of petty hate of Americans.
The term "soccer" is a shortened version of "association football" that was used by rich British kids at prep schools who liked being trendy and using shortened versions of things. They also called Rugby Football "rugger"
Soccer especially gained popularity in places where there was already a local version of football, like the US and Australia.
When famous Europeans started playing in the US in like the 70s, Europeans found out the yanks called it soccer, they started not using the term as as much.

1) 32 nations are picked based on average SR of their top 100.
2) Blizzard compiles a list of up to 10 "experts" in each of those nations, "including analysts, coaches, statisticians, and other authorities in the Overwatch esports community".
3) Players in each of the 32 countries vote from list list of 10 experts who they want to be on their "national committee". Three of the ten are chosen.
4) Those 3 national committee members will then recommend the lineups.
Source is phase 2 of the blogpost announcement.
DOTA and SC2 both do more granular ranking, and they both have a bell curve.
Hell, let's go to the great granddaddy of competitive gaming, the game for which ELO was literally invented, Chess. Bell curve. https://www.chess.com/echess/players
There might be something special about LOL but I highly doubt it. And unless you can pull stats showing that everyone in bronze has the same skill, it's more likely than not that LOL has a bell curve too.

> Ashe summons her trusted omnic sidekick, B.O.B., who charges forward and knocks enemies into the air, then lays down suppressing fire with his arm cannons.

That is the name of the mech.
>Twenty years ago, South Korea was attacked by a colossal omnic monstrosity that rose from the depths of the East China Sea. The massive, lumbering construct caused catastrophic damage to coastal cities before it was driven back beneath the waves. In response, the South Korean government developed a mechanized armored drone unit, called MEKA, to protect urban environments in future engagements with the omnic threat.
Chess.com (which itself will only have a fraction of the Chess playerbase) has >1m daily players, and FIDE has over 360,000 active tournament players in its member database, and YouGov says 605m people play Chess 'regularly' (that is probably over-inflated, but even if it's 10x less than that it still dwarves any esport). I think you vastly underestimate how popular chess is, especially on an international level.

Patch Notes > Respawn Delay > When attackers outnumber defenders while taking a control point on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps, the defenders’ respawn time will slowly increase until it hits a maximum value or the defense manages to gain the upper hand.
>Developer Comments: Until now, stalling an attack by repeatedly throwing yourself at the point has been a common defensive strategy on Assault, Escort and Assault/Escort maps—even when the attackers have a decisive advantage. Typically, this tactic doesn’t change the outcome of battle; it simply delays the attackers’ progress.
Here's my typical positioning when playing fps games. The keyboard positioning is just what feels most comfortable. I play with my whole arm including elbow on the table, so my mousepad is positioned farther into the desk to accommadate that. I like the stability anchoring my elbow provides.
I move everything to a more typical position when I'm not gaming.

>Competitive Play
>A tracking system has been added to Assault and Assault/Escort Maps that will allow us to break ties based on the progress that was made toward capturing the objective.
>Developer Comments:
>To mitigate draws in Competitive Play, we're implementing a system that tracks each team's progress on the objective. This will work similarly to the system that's already in place for Escort and Assault/Escort maps, which grants a win to the team that pushes the payload the furthest. Now, even if neither team successfully captures the objective, a winner can be determined based on which team captured the largest portion.
It's on PTR. Please look at the patch notes first...
Also draws or close games are the best games to play. Stop worrying about your SR so much and just enjoy the game.
You can visit this website!
Not really for tourneys, but you can fill out your team and they will search for another team with similar skill rating and set up a scrim for you and your friends
>Qualification: From today through the end of Competitive Season 9 (April 28), we’ll be tracking the average skill rating (SR) of each country’s top 150 players. Each country’s progress can be tracked on the Overwatch World Cup website. The top 20 countries at the end of this period will be invited to compete in the 2018 Overwatch World Cup.
From Blizzards announcement. Their statement, in my opinion, is ambiguous, but they do not state that they are taking the top 150 of each country at the end of the season. Just that they are tracking it throughout season 9.
There are a number of ways that they could have decided which countries made the top 20 that could fit in their statement. Taking it at the end of the season would fit within that statement. Taking the top 150 peak throughout the season would fit in that sentence. This way would eliminate unfair issues for people that couldn't play on the last day. You could take the top 150 players average throughout the season too. These all fit within their statement. There absolutely needs to be a statement explaining in further detail. If it is in fact at the end of the season, they need to make an adjustment.
Edit: They could also make it be the day before the last day of the season. That would fit into their sentence. They just say that they're tracking it throughout the season, nothing definitive.
Although that would be an insane matchup, the two teams don't compete together. Zappis' team will compete in the Heroes Rumble event in Taiwan, meanwhile Fusion competes in the OWL.

Here is a tool to convert your Widow and Ana scoped sens to Ashe:
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/oxdagztkcl
30 Widow/Ana scoped sens equals 40.75 for Ashe, if you want to maintain the same muscle memory for all 3 heroes.
Here is a deeper explanation of the math. TL/dr: 1:1 is impossible across the full range of motion. The common "38" is only 1:1 for the first 100 pixels of movement off center.

Low effort.. anyone?
> We’re also implementing skill rating decay. Now, players with a skill rating above 3000 will need to stay active in order to maintain their status. If they aren’t able to complete at least one competitive match every 7 days, they will lose 50 points from their skill rating for every 24 hours they’re out of the action. The decline will stop once the player completes a competitive match, and their skill rating won’t drop below 3000.

I don't think any of the stat scrapers (buff, master, watcher) have the full player base, so if that's what you're looking for I wouldn't get your hopes up.
The reason for this is because all of them are simply scraping the playoverwatch.com profile pages: https://playoverwatch.com/en-gb/career/pc/us/Seagull-1894 because (as far as I know) OverWatch doesn't have an API yet like other Blizzard titles. So for them to get player data, they need to be given player battle.net tags, and that's so far been voluntary.
It's entirely possible buff scraped master's and watcher's player lists and added it to their own player pool as a pre-fetch, and master and watcher aren't scraping competitor sites, but I couldn't speculate on that.
Also because these are done through site scrapes I'd be very skeptical on the day-to-day accuracy of the data. A mis-timed scrape or a delay could make for a lot of inaccuracy, and since scrapes on all these players is resource intensive, they likely try to not do them every minute of every day.
Dell 2417dg is one of the best choice (I just got mine).

However, there are some that aren't terribly expensive. "Private Internet Access" is pretty good. Has a lot of locations, including a bunch of american citys spread across the US
Adding manpower to a team isn't a magic fix, and there would be a pretty long lead-up time for them to have anything to show for it. <em>The Mythical Man-Month</em> is probably the standard text on this; its thesis is "adding manpower to a late software project makes it later".
Of course, it's possible that they really don't have enough people, but since I don't have access to any of their internal management info, I'm not going to try to tell them how to run their team. I just don't have enough information.
It doesn't compare your stats to your teams, it compares them to other Reins at your level.
If your performances are statistically lower than other Reins at your MMR you will get less SR. This isn't perfect but it can help you get an idea:

> Committees will hold tryouts from June 1 through July 5. Players—including Overwatch League members!—can compete for a spot on the team of their country of citizenship. Committees will submit rosters, which may contain up to 12 players, from June 15 through July 5.* Blizzard will work with the players and committees to identify seven players from each roster who will travel to applicable live events.

So six players plus one sub is the final roster for each world cup team.

Before contenders you should try to get noticed on ladder and in Open Division.
Esports is a lot of networking, so reach out or use the people you know to form your own teams and scrims.
Just play. Nobody can tell you wether it's a good or bad idea to play except yourself. People do get rank anxiety and avoid it because of the pressure of playing for a reason (SR and MMR) so it's up to you to decide if you want to play, will playing the game obstruct an important part of your day? Are you able to take insults online? Can you take loss after loss after loss?
As for which heroes you should play, here's a list of heroes currently viable in the season 5 meta. Very useful for finding out what to play!
So yeah, play the game if you want to. Flip a coin if you can't decide between clicking that purple button or not.
> Now Rein hammer is still buggy
Rein hammer was fixed in the last patch: "Fixed a bug affecting the animation speed on Reinhardt’s Rocket Hammer, causing the weapon to feel unresponsive while swinging"
> you cant shatter people who are on top of the payload (which is a huge nerf imo, even if it was unintended)
It was an intended change, as being struck out of the air on heroes like Genji or Pharah felt unintuitive in Blizzard's words: "Earthshatter tended to climb unexpectedly high, frequently hitting targets that were significantly above the ground. These changes help the ability stay more grounded."
The shatter still goes through the payload, so not a huge nerf. Rein has seen less play primarily because he doesn't synergize as well with other heroes that are seeing a lot of play in this meta (Genji, Tracer, Winston, D.Va, etc)
Was fun to have the boys on the show and talk about their transition. As always if you guys want to spare the data plans and listen on your phone's/favorite audio apps you can find it on 9 different platforms all listed here: https://anchor.fm/vytis-lasaitis
And here's a post that estimates the differences
However, if you want to skip the explanation, there's also a handy calculator to get the equivalent Ashe sense.
I thought it was pretty obvious that it was tournament to just showcase the game. I'm pretty sure they answered most of the questions you have in the FAQ.
I personally don't mind watching Fortnite tournaments, the building aspect adds another layer of entertainment and skill cap for players. It's not to boring at all if you have decent spectators. Not to mention people already watch it in mass.
Clash Royal is the same. If the people are there to compete and have sponsors + good viewership how is it not an esport? Not to mention an actual league now.
Both games take different skill sets and have players who rise above the rest looking to compete at the highest level.
So if are you the final sayer of who is and isn't an esport, What defines a game as being able to be an esport vs not being able to be an esport? Serious question.
As far as I see it, any game with PvP has esport "potential."
I can add observations to this from the official website
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/ana/
Biotic Rifle can be shot scoped or unscoped with different ammo drain. It deals 75 healing or damage per body shot over a very short time.
Sleep Dart stuns the target for about 5.5 seconds with damage waking it up.
Biotic Grenade lasts for 5 seconds and buffs healing by at least 30%.
Nano Boost lasts a stunning 8 seconds and if the kills shown are not staged (which I doubt, cause it would be stupidly strong) increases damage output to at least 267%.
For what it's worth, this is a good long writeup. The guy even has graphs and everything, and certainly the kind of content I'd like to see more in this sub.
I mean, look at this shit: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/164047608/
That's more than anyone would commit to a post like this.

MOAR!
Hey everyone, this is the second part of my storyline for each of the teams in the group stage article. It focuses in the teams that play tomorrow: Meta Athena, LuxuryWatch Blue, BK Stars and CONBOX Spirit.
Let me know your thoughts and don't forget to tune in for the matches tomorrow, 19:00 KST at twitch.tv/ognglobal.
Here's a time converter for those who don't know the exact local time.
I would recommend amazon or something where you can buy a pair for $10-15 and avoid buying gunnar glasses. Something like this. If you ever feel weird just remember there are people who wear glasses with no lenses in them just for fashion while these would help your eyes.
Go read The Mythical Man-Month. Just because they have an essentially unlimited amount of cash doesn't mean they can hire an unlimited amount of programmers and expect unlimited results. Development doesn't work like that, and at a certain point, throwing more people at the job just doesn't work.
If you are too lazy/cheap to buy a mic, you can use a microphone app on your phone. I use WO Mic on Android to great success.
You need to install their app and a driver on your PC and it will allow you to use the phone's mic through WIFI, BT or USB and the driver shows up like any other mic. It works surprisingly well with the phone on the side and using push-to-talk. I use it with WIFI which seems the least hassle.
It’s another attempt for blizzard (large corporation) to gain monolithic control over something they just can’t control.there is no way that eliminating toxicity will bring ow into the mainstream.riot has been trying for years even going so far as to experiment ontheir players to reduce toxic behavior and that still hasn’t gotten them any closer to the household name they want it to be https://kotaku.com/league-of-legends-is-psych-testing-players-with-questio-1736830131
I think the confusion comes from the different posts we are reading:
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/21363037 in this post they talk about "on the same team"
https://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20759648155 in this post they seem to talk about groups. "the matchmaker will still allow you to group with other players according to the current SR limits at their skill tier"
It's okay to be ranked low man. I know the feeling though. After my first season of League of Legends play, I got placed in Bronze. It was pretty rough since I had been in Silver league before (floating in Silver V, which is the rank just above Bronze). I thought I was average at the game, but it turned out that the ranking system had been to kind to me and I was well below average.
This gave me "ranked anxiety". I wanted to play ranked and get better, but queue'ing up just felt bad, and every loss felt horrible since I was further and further away from my goals. I wasn't even trying to be good, just average at the game.
But here's what I learned, you won't rank up if you don't play ranked.
So here's my advice, work on your aim. Work on it a lot. Get really fucking good at aiming. Play one character, preferably someone who isn't super popular. Always play that character. The goal is to learn the fundamentals of the game, and it's easiest to do that as one character only. Keep your brain engaged, and never stop analyzing your play. Focus on improving one aspect of your play at a time.
Read up on some tips for keeping focused. Especially on sports websites. Read up on tips for beating anxiety. And at the end of the day, force yourself to play ranked even if you don't want to (of course only if you really want to rank up, it's fine to just not play competitive and be a quick play only guy and you shouldn't take competitive to seriously).
TL;DR, keep playing ranked, work on one aspect of your game at a time, limit yourself to one hero until you've learned the fundamentals and have them down decently enough and stay focused.

The problem with your argument is that originally, Warcraft (and Starcraft for that matter) was meant to be a Warhammer (40k in terms of SC) game, it's just happens that Blizzard couldn't get the rights for it. So they altered the game a bit to avoid copyright problems. So WC and SC are literally slightly altered copies of the WH and WH40k universes. Just try to see the similarities between Terrans and Space Marines, Zergs and Tyrannids, Protos and Eldar

I'm p.sure it does hack people. It shows them with the hack status in the Sombra page. If it didn't, I'd agree that it's still a bit ambiguous.
https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/sombra/
That said, just because I already think it's OP doesn't mean I'm not okay with trying it out and finding out for certain. I don't particularly advocate just making a nerf before it hits PTR.
Due to the size and importance of the countries they wanted to ensure having some of them in the tournament.
The biggest tournament so far has been the ESL Atlantic Showdown I think. And yes, the tournaments are getting bigger and bigger. Also, the amateur competitive scene is really strong in Overwatch. There are a LOT of tournaments being held for amateur teams and even free agents.
The next big tournament is the World Cup. But, the teams were picked via voting, so they do not actually represent the best players of every region.
You can read about it here: http://oberdraft.com/overwatch-world-cup-teams-announced/

I was curious too so I just did a straw poll on Inven asking people which team they support.
The result is:
Out of 50 responses
NYXL 18 (36%)
Seoul 6 (12%)
Shanghai 5 (10%)
Boston, LAV, Houston, Philly, SF Shock 3 (6%)
London, LAG 2 (4%)
Dallas, Florida 1 (2%)
NYXL is by far the most popular team, which makes sense because people like the winning team. Seoul lost many fans because of their disappointing performances and questionable decisions from the coaches, but they still have a loyal fan base so they hold #2. Shanghai is very close behind and I'm pretty sure 90% of Shanghai fans are Geguri's fans.
Then it's somewhat evenly distributed among various Western teams... and London. I don't know why but London always has been the least popular Korean team. It's not like there was a controversy or an incident involving London. They're just... not popular for some reason.
Edit: A few more people answered after I started writing this comment so the results might have changed.
Edit2: This goes without saying, but Inven doesn't represent everyone. The results would vary depending on when and where I ask the question.
"Q. Is there a cap to how many players can participate on the PTR?
A. The PTR can currently support 10k concurrent players (or players logged into the PTR at the same time). If we happen to reach this cap, any new players attempting to log in to the PTR will be placed into a queue."
>Skill ratings will be visible at the beginning of every match. As you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.
