Hello, fellow library worker. I kind of stopped reading all the big kids/YA series back when I was in high school like 15 years ago so being introduced to the new popular kid series that came out in the interim alongside the ones I grew up with was amusing.
This is the best one of those covers by the way.
Also I never heard of Geronimo Stilton before I started working at the library but man is that a big series with a lot of books.
"These infinitely recyclable cans of stone-cold mountain water came straight from the Alps to murder your thirst.
"Liquid Death’s proprietary Thirst Murdering process begins by forming a rope of veins that will wrap around your Thirst’s head and strangle it. Once Liquid Death reaches your Thirst’s brain, all of your Thirst’s memories will be replaced with repeating loops of its own head imploding. Which is exactly what happens next by it causing your Thirst’s head to implode and its brain to squirt out of its ears.
"Once your Thirst has been murdered, the soul of your Thirst will begin to escape and float towards the ceiling. At this point, drink a second sip of Liquid Death to rip its soul back down and force it to begin gluing its own body parts together so that it can crawl back inside you and eventually grow into a fully formed Thirst once again."
Allow me to point out that Jim Davis not only loved the idea, but allowed a collection of strips to be published, and even contributed a few of his own.
This is satire. Anime Maru is the anime equivalent of The Onion. It doesnt help that animemaru.com is down right now.
Edit: link is finally back up
The line you're referencing is from What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?.
This is from the sequel to that story, Superman: Ending Battle.
Reminds me of this webcomic where a normal dude married Sadako and the main character is their creepy-cute daughter Erma.
A couple examples of the general tone. More "sweet little supernatural girl that's occasionally horrifying" than "evil she-devil spawn."

This is apparently based on a comic book from 2009, so there's no way the author didn't Google his own title and go "Oh, hey, what are all these results about?"
I looked up the page for the comic, and... Amazon Video might be a vanity press.
If anyone is wondering what it’s about, it’s basically Blade Runner dialed up a few notches.
Cyborg detective tracking down rogue cyborgs, kicking all kinds of ass during. His head is a gun. His supporting duo are a mute hacker-man and a scrappy human lady that does extreme robo-surgery for the less fortunate.
Big Mega-Corp and war crime conspiracy as the overarching plot.
introductory chapter(chronologically chapter 0, published as 11.5)
The stream layout is a bit too gross for me, but it's good for archiving purposes I guess for people who really need the chat. Still a bit gross looking though.
Also free idea for a stream intro. Use https://clyp.it/mzw2nkmt
It's the recent Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man run by Zdarsky(this page is apparently from the annual). Be forewarned: a lot of people hate the first few issues because Zdarsky's comedy is not great to start with. Even though a lot of those same people claim he gets better was he goes on.
It really depends on what you want to do. CyberGhost is best for torrenting and hacking (no logging, located in Romania). From what I've heard NordVPN, and ExpressVPN are good for streaming and gaming.
For the cheaper side: HideMyAss is best for those who want something for only month-to-month, and SurfShark is pretty cheap.
I'd still suggest doing your own research as well to find what you want.
Meanwhile the Soviets, with their obsessive love of mapping, probably had the entire building plotted out down to the ductwork by 1981.
Odd that it comes from a book, but chapter 3 (i think?) of House Of Leaves has a great set up to a scare at the end that takes the house from odd curiosity to a very real looming threat for the first time.
When Navidson and his family come back from a trip, they find this odd new walk in closet addition connecting the kid's room and the master bedroom that was not there before. He starts pouring over the blueprints of the house and taking measurements and finds that the house is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside by 1/4's of an inch. No mater what he does, he cannot get his measurements to agree with each other. His partner Karen wants to just leave it be, but Navidson grows adamant to figure out what is going on, going as far as to call in a favor to borrow the most accurate tool possible from a local university.
While Navidson and his brother are picking that up, Karen and her friend take the opportunity to build a bookshelf in the master bedroom, using the two opposing walls as bookends, describing a domino effect stopping at the wall when a book is removed. Later Navidson and his brother run the machine to measure the room and to everyone's relief, there is no more 1/4 inch discrepancy. They run it one more time just for shits and giggles at which point Navidson's brother grabs a book off the shelf to prop a door open. This causes the remaining books to fall over onto the ground, revealing a full foot gap between the wall and the end of the bookshelf which is lost upon everyone but Karen. It wasn't faulty tools or bad math. The house can change, and it can change whenever the hell it wants.
I'll also take this opportunity to tell you to read House of Leaves it's really fucking good.

Call of Duty Zombies.
I'm serious. There's so much hyper convoluted lore to that stuff and most people have no idea, and I kinda love it.
You think Kingdom Hearts is complicated? Look at this fucking timeline.
I JUST REMEMBERED THE ONE MANGA TO TAKE SHIT LIKE THIS TO THE EXTREME.
It was an American cyberpunk-esque manga called Psy-Comm and it was some thoroughly busted bullshit. Basically, the guy with telekinesis at one point lifts dirt particles from the ground and shifts them around in such a way that they refract light to make him and someone else look like soldiers in the base they'e infiltrating. Instead of actually just becoming invisible for some fucking reason.
Then the precog tries to escape with a girl and, needing to know where to go, slams his hand into the ground and lets out a psionic burst to predict the future of the planet Earth and everything on it in order to map out the immediate path to success.
THIS IS ALL IN THE FIRST ISSUE.

81 so better than Beyond but worse than Heavy rain, rating wise for now.

Is this the okay game that everybody feared ? Will David Cage get a free pass from the SBF ? Find out on the next arc of the Sadness LP.
So ExpressVPN talked a good talk and was great to use. But now I need to try something else. Because not only is the privacy trust completely stripped away. But any penny spent now will go to Isreal and help them do more human rights violations.
Just so everyone reading this thread knows, there's already a BIG archive or flash media that's been put together called Flashpoint that lets you download the files so you can play them without a browser. And yes it DOES have the porns as well.
So first off: Betternet is one of the worst VPNs that you can get. They regularly score abysmally compared to other VPNs.
Second: If the product is free, YOU are the product. I wouldn't trust a VPN that has a free option.
I know there's sometimes some wonkiness posting amazon links on Reddit, but...
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=red+queen+sword
It's USD$78, and over four feet long. Stainless steel with a nylon handle-wrap and an ABS guard. Someone else is selling Rebellions.
You know, as much as we gave shit for The Railroad in Fallout 4,
The fact that there's no Railroad faction of humans helping robots to freedom in this game is just bizarre.
If you're going to make a racism and slavery analogy, the easiest way is to add an Underground Railroad faction. Todd Howard hit the mark with it, and yet somehow David Cage forgot to add them to this game (either that or he didn't even know that The Railroad existed).
In fact, where's motherfucker John Brown when all this android shit is happening?
I don't know if it's the biggest, but Amazon does have a rather large Badonkadonk.
Matt doesn't need to read every single comment everywhere for this to be an issue. Say when there's a podcast, there's 100 comments. Matt could only read 20 and still see some about him not being there. And those comments can range from soft and constructive to somewhat shitty and outright asshole.
And yeah he could have give normal responses. A lot of the time, he has given them. 'I'm at this con.' 'I'm dealing with a business emergency.' 'I'm on a family vaction.' But sometimes people don't see those normal responses or don't care and still throw things his way.
So again. We don't see what Matt's seeing. We may look in a Reddit thread and see A shitty comment and ignore it. But Matt, who has to pay attention to all forms of feedback as part of his job. He'll see that one shitty comment and it's proably the 12th he's seen and say 'there's not that much today.'
EDIT: If you are still not sure what my point is, read this. It's about when people are mad at you on social media. Not a perfect comparison as the examples are extreame, but gives some insight.
Okay but this movie would have been utterly absurd as an adaptation of Dark Souls but also a banger of a horror movie derived from the premise.
Humans in a modern city going hollow gradually, and a cult of Darkwraiths hollowing more people to accelerate the extinguishing of the flame and the age of dark.
Bellwether - "Lionheart gave me a wedgie and panned my art! Because of this slight he's forgotten about, ALL PREDATORS MUST DIE!"
Callaghan/Yokai: "Tadashi stole my patented medical tech and pawned it off to some Israeli jackass on the deep web, earning millions (which he promptly blew on cocaine and gay hookers, of course) off of tech that wasn't his. And because he never brought it back... my beloved wife died in more pain than you bastards could ever imagine."
Hans: "Wanna know why I betrayed Anna? <strong>BUY MY MOTHERFUCKIN' BOOK!</strong>"
It was a bizarre Yaoi, where the guy's dog turns into a person randomly and they have sex, then later his goldfish also turns into a person and they have sex too.
I'm not even into Yaoi to begin with but this was another level. It was included in a HUGE manga collection in a storage bin I got off a friend, and I was just perusing through all of it.
Some strange stuff man, and apparently is a popular thing? At least there seems to be a lot of examples of the same idea, animals turning into humans then having sex.
Edit: I found the exact series by just browsing similar content and recognizing the cover work, it's Man's Best Friend: Inu Mo Arukeba
Hey man, I'm gonna help you out and link you to Hush, on Amazon, in one book. No need to hunt or search around for it; the entire arc (which only ran in one serial anyway, as a self-contained story that didn't, at the time, spill into any spin-offs or side-issues) is bound between two covers.
In your local comic book store! In your local digital comic book store! I would really-really prefer you chose one of these, but if you're looking hard enough there are other ways. Please, support. It's good and it's like 4 bucks per issue.

We got that in the epilogue comic. Better late than never but yeah would of been better as an episode.
Hey u/PlagueOfGripes , if you are interested in actually making a visual novel out of this I can help out you with that.
Most visual novels you see on Steam are made with a library/framework called Ren'Py. This uses the Python programming language for game logic and a custom scripting language for dialogue/scenes. The custom scripting language is very easy to learn and Python is a relatively easy language to get into. Ren'Py is Open Source and free to use without any royalties, payments, obligations or anything like that.
I'm a developer and I'm experienced in Python and toyed a little bit with Ren'Py (never made a visual novel before though). I can help you in one of two ways, as you prefer:
I can give you advise, sample code, help and code resources for Python and Ren'Py. Also if you are considering another programming language/framework/library to make the visual novel I can give you an educated guess of how it is, pros, cons, etc.
I can actually develop the game for you. I can spare between 10 and 15 hours per week (I have a full time job as a dev), I would do this for free only because you plan on releasing the game for free and I think that people could benefit from such a game existing. Think of it as community service. If you want to confirm I can do the job, I can make a small proof-of-concept game in Ren'Py.
Either way, if you are interested or want my contact info just send me a PM.
For the people who bets that Jade Empire is coming to mobile, the mobile port is already existed 2 years ago.

On a related not. If this fake story gets a rise out of you; positive, negative, funny, sad. Read this Book, So You've been Publicly Shamed, by Jon Ronson.
It pretty much goes through the mechanisms and aftermath of the whole, 'Tweet that will ruin his life' part. It's not pretty for anyone involved. Also the other Ronson books are real good.
It's on audible, so yous your podcast promo codes and save some trees.
For those wondering not epic store exclusive but is available on it they'll also be adding 1 and 2 and dlc on it and no dlc will be exclusive to either store.

OK, looking this game up. This was iOS and Android before it came out on Switch!
This is a fucking Modile Game. I'm perfectly fine with the Switch being the Mobile Game Valhalla.
Yup. Alan Moore wrote 3 awesome Superman stories. For the Man Who Has Everything, a Superman/Swamp Thing story & Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? (The last pre-Crisis Superman story, and Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman was loosely inspired by it).
They're all collected in this graphic novel.
I ACTUALLY HAVE! I mention it a little bit every now and then because I don't want to be THAT guy. If read it let me know cause, I honestly know only 2 people that read it. I would make it free for you guys but I ran out of free promotion days.

I am NO master author only wrote 1 book, and just working on the other. My process was I planned everything out. I got a couple notebooks and planned out my characters for who I wanted. Once I had my charterers honestly the story kinda fell together because for me once the characters are who they are, everything follows form there. My rookie mistakes were I ramble on and OOOOOON. like I paid some guy to edit it and he took out a third of it. Everything was still there. The entire process though was really easy, because for me it was like my brain was being washed. Seriously I imaged a lake and it was just being brushed it felt great.
There's a joke in Japan that Freeza from Dragon Ball is actually the ideal corporate employer. His demands are very clear, Freeza is always polite, he knows all his employees by name (even Radtiz), gives low ranking soldiers guns to make up for a lack of experience, he's always offering jobs to fresh new talent, he respects Ginyu's approach to team-building even if he finds it silly because it boosts morale. Above all else, Freeza isn't above getting his hands dirty while also not being a micromanager. He steps in when he has to and shows that he has all the skills he expects from his staff but most of the time he trusts people to do their jobs.
This probably says more about Japanese modern office culture than anything. And Toei was half a step away from making it part of the official April Fool's joke. Piccolo is in Human Resources.
Don't newer versions of Windows have the Snipping Tool? That might be a good replacement for cropping stuff.
It's standard Saturday morning cartoon fare until the end of season 2 when shit gets real, and then season 3 is amazing.
Season 4 is actually 2 movies split into episode lengths. The first movie, Daemon Rising, is pretty good, but the second movie is a poor sendoff to the series and ends on a lame cliffhanger.
People that played Path of Exile know what TOO much power feels like... And yet it's still not enough.
Also, Night of the Full Moon, card game on android allows you to bend it backwards and break it very hard. Big fan of it.
Shit, Microsoft has an entire industry set up devoted to making literature set in the world of Halo (which I assume this kid likes, because he has an Xbox and Xbox = Halo). A new one just dropped last fall, for fuck's sake... AND it's supposed to tie-in with Infinite to boot.
Ya want him to read, get him that. He'll eat that right up.
There’s the Transformers idw collections you can get on amazon but there’s like 18 that span both phase 1 and phase 2 and each cost $40-$50. They have everything but it’s still ALOT
heres the first but it looks like it’s now only available from third party sellers
Pat is not completely wrong here.
>The count breathed with difficulty; the cold drops ran down his forehead, and his heart was full of anguish.
“No,” he muttered, “the doubt I felt was but the commencement of forgetfulness; but here the wound reopens, and the heart again thirsts for vengeance.”
>Then, as he departed, he fixed his eyes upon the gloomy prison.
“Woe,” he cried, “to those who confined me in that wretched prison; and woe to those who forgot that I was there!”

How about we talk about Brook having to watch his whole crew dying, while they all know they're dying of poison and decide to play one final song, falling to their deaths knowing that only one of them will live again?
Where is everyone? This is just turned into a quartet...
A trio...
A duet...

[endless pain and agony](#s "Thunk.")
There was a YA book, The Rule of Three, that actually averted your first point quite nicely. The main "hook" is that an EMP has wiped out all modern tech worldwide, knocking society back quite a bit and essentially ending the world as we know it. While older cars (like the protag's shitty Oldsmobile) are fine for a bit, go-karts (and the aforementioned bikes) are what the suburban neighborhood primarily uses for transport. (I assume that, once the gas runs out, the bikes take over permanently.)
It's a while since I've read it - and I've never worked through its sequels - but I liked it just fine enough. Here it is on Amazon, in case it piques your interest.
Surprisingly, not unprecedented— BBC’s Sherlock has a manga adaptation as well. They actually even look like the actors, for the most part.
I guess there’s a market?
Ok, so I looked up if it really was James Small, so I did a little digging and it turns out that he (the guy in the Rogue Warrior credits) works for a QA/Localization game company called Babel Media which totally has a Montreal and (surprise!) London branch, so the chances of this being THE James Small is greater than small.
and these are the games he worked on: http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/by_year/developerId,251470/
(SPOILERS: They're not good games)
Not even, dude. Like severed head of Jameson stuffed with his cigars, and viscera everywhere, complete with smells and shit. This book really went into detail. “Revenge of the Sinister Six” was the title I think.
Edit: This is the book. Hands down the best Spider-Man novel series out there.
Here's the exact page this is from in the chapter. So you have another 3 before this one and some more after to read up on my man. The next page is a heart ripper.
May I recommend ditching those off-brand Micro-SDs for <em>actual</em> Micro-SDs?
And there's nothing more fun that having a marathon momentarily disrupted because your spotless disc that came in the mail crashes on the New Game screen. If I hadn't had a "backup" to fall back on, I might be a bit more bitter.
There's an American release available on DVD, but it's a little on the rare side. If you don't mind paying like $30 for a DVD there's still copies available from some sellers on Amazon. You might try eBay as well, I haven't looked there yet.
The problem with NordVPN is that iirc they didn't say anything until way after it happened. Regardless of whether or not there was anything, not being transparent about something like that is a bad look
Also, disappointingly, it's a gag gift box.
holy shit have you tried clicking on apps under inceptnet
it takes you to this unrelated game You have to plan for things to be this bad.
Well at least the good news is that by some miracle, Bomberman actually did get a new game rather recently with Super Bomberman R, I played it on switch already and it's actually fairly good.
For those who don't know, Blender is the best open source suite for 3D graphics that includes tools for modeling, animation, sculpting, texture painting and more. It's completely free, so it's especially great for indie game developers who can't afford to buy proprietary software like Maya or ZBrush.
Oh, by the way, Ubisoft joined the development fund, too.
Chris Antista and the like now have their own blog and podcast network called Laser Time. They have opened their own Patreon too, which has just hit $6k+.
Steam itself has support for it through Big Picture mode, and some modern games has taken to giving out of the box support for it, otherwise ds4windows will cover it.
The plot says he's a hero, but the cameraman disagrees. Except for the very last scene with Thanos, he has villainous visual imagery, even when he is going through the stereotypical hero's journey.
Everyone: Complaining about how Ethernet should have been in the base version
Me: shrugs and grabs an adapter for $14.
I get it, it's dumb, but it's literally just $14. Considering how much cheaper Nintendo Online is to alternatives, it's fine. Not even saying it like it's a good thing, I'm just plum neutral on it because it's such a minor thing that it doesn't register on my radar.
I don't think Kiryu drinks Staminan. ~~His stomach could never hold an entire inventory's worth of Staminan.~~ The only plausible explanation is that he pours it over his wounds.
EDIT: Originally made this comment under the impression Staminans were about the size of a Red Bull. After some research it seems likely they're much smaller. Similar drinks in reality come in bottles of 3.3 fl oz (100 mL), less than half the size of a Red Bull. So I admit it is possible he could fit 20 of them in one sitting, though it sure doesn't sound comfortable.
I don't see how E-Sports chairs are a solution compared to getting an actual good office chairs with ergonomic support.
I mean, there's some crossover there, but...
I've had the same office ergo chair for 5 years now and it hasn't fallen apart yet. Total no-name brand too.
Not saying all (or even any) of the good Detroit reviews are paid for, but if you think the game-reviewing industry isn't dishonest as fuck then you're naïve.
It's 33% off on Origin as well right now, and that price stacks with the promo code "TITAN20" to drop the total down to $44 CAD. https://www.origin.com/can/en-us/store/titanfall/titanfall-2/standard-edition
Charles Schwab will margin call you too
> What happens if you don’t meet a margin call? Your brokerage firm may close out positions in your portfolio and isn’t required to consult you first. In fact, in a worst-case scenario it’s possible that your brokerage firm will sell all of your shares, leaving you with no shares yet still owing money.
Not only is there actual canon, there's a fucking lot of it. And its incredibly complex, its like if Dark Souls had concrete explanations and not just vague implications. Just look at this official timeline that we had to decipher back in the day.
If anyone wants to indulge their nostalgia Flashpoint has a ton of older internet games on it, not just flash but shockwave, java, wildtangent, and more
Indeed. And in those 2 years they have made at least 47 "games" and 3 "music players".
Note that they made that many "games" in half the time it took that one dude to make Stardew Valley.

figure I should post this here despite the fact this thread should just die:
If you don't play Warframe: Basically there's this big hype about the game moving from the Sol solar system into the Tau system (based on comments from the devs in recent years). The announcement is an anticipated "reveal" for tomorrow's TennoCon (a convention held by the developers for this game). The article is a mix of inside jokes between the Warframe community and, well, I am totally unashamed in admitting I love how much the SBF hate Dahved Khage so part of the inside jokes from here too.
This post is tagged as "Satire" on the website. The Forma is my version of The Onion for the game Warframe. Usually I drop in some images for these kinds of posts as well, but I'm mid-vacation right now so text only. There's actual real stuff on that website as well, I was just too cheap to buy two different domains as I worked on this stuff for a couple of years.
If you play Warframe and want a TCN Glyph, feel free to shoot me a PM (include your platform) and I'll send you one once I can. My Glyph looks like this: :V
I replied to another person above with some recommendations, but for the cheap: SurfShark or HideMyAss. Or for the really cheap (but tech savvy), an old laptop with PFSense and OpenVPN can set up a combo Firewall/VPN that allows you to do the same thing without going to a company.
This 100%. That RetroSys OP is looking at is literally just a pre-made Retropie. It costs far less than 160 to put one together yourself, and you get to buy whatever case you want for it. I put one together two years ago and it works wonderfully.
Edit: Holyshit, that RetoSys is ON SALE for 160 and is normally 400? Highway fucking robbery. I got a special case and had to buy a new SD card and mine still came in under 100.

Zuko’s Story, a tie-in comic for the totally-non-existent movie, details the events during Zuko’s exile before finding Aang. Honestly, if it weren’t for Zuko’s and Iroh’s designs, you could just say it’s a prequel to the show, and no one would bat an eye.

And it's a 4K blue ray player. The lasers alone are the real cost. A 4k drive for pc is about $100.
I personally think there's tons of people out there like Pat who buy most of their games on launch so there's no price difference, don't have download caps, and thus bought most games on PSN since it's cheaper
I mean, in addition to stuff that's just common sense, most of The Art of War is just "be a huge coward, lame it out whenever possible, and abuse the SHIT out of every little advantage you can get your grubby hands on."
Yeah, I seem to remember someone from Nintendo bragging that the OS uses like 800MB of RAM or something, wish I could find a source
EDIT: Found it, the home menu allegedly uses 200kb of resources to allow quick hopping in and out of a game via the home button https://tinyurl.com/y9uv9kkk
A lot of people don't realize how much of a resource hog our current console OS's are, that allow them to run in the background of the actual games. PS4 supposedly reserves 3.5GB just for its OS if I remember correctly.
Say what you will about Kotaku, but Schreier's legit. He's the guy that did those big articles that broke what happened to Visceral's Star Wars game and how Mass Effect Andromeda fell apart.
