A better example is KitKat and Lollipop's hidden battery percentage inside the battery icon
No official switch, but you could use this app to enable it, no root needed
Now with 6.0 there's an official switch in UI Tuner
For those on Lollipop or below, you can uninstall the app once you've toggled the tick box.
Edit: Just to get battery percentage.
You can get the battery percentage inside the battery with this method:
Open notifications panel so that the settings gear appears (swipe down twice).
long press on the gear for about 3 seconds (gear will start spinning). This enables System UI Tuner
Open System UI Tuner in your settings - at the very bottom, beneath About Phone
Toggle "Show embedded battery percentage"
Done.
Or there's this app that basically does the same without having to enable the System UI Tuner. I like the Tuner to play with different things, though.
As far as the weather widget, I don't use one. I just swipe right and bring up my Google Now stuff and weather is in there.
Calendar: Don't use a full month. I've gotten used to the Google Calendar's widget view. I came from the S3 so I understand why you want the full size calendar. To each his own.
Size of the phone: can't help you any there. If it's too big, return it, get the S6 or wait for the S7 or get the Moto X Pure.
Good luck.
Does the front flash work in snapchat and how is the quality while using snapchat?
Also you could use this app for battery percentage https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en
I assume you know this but, even though the setting is not visible in the settings menu, you can just install this app (no root required), and enable the percentage.
You can uninstall the app afterwards, it just changes a setting which is not accessible through normal menus.
Either way I agree... about damn time that they made the option visible to the users.
Edit: I accidentally a word.
Even without marshmallow the standby is awesome.
Last night I plugged it into a charger that I didn't realize wasn't plugged in. It lost under 1% an hour.
This is the first time I've owned a phone that can make it to 24 hours without a charge.
I charged the phone for an hour before leaving for work and now 9 hours later (with light use) I still have 70%+ in the bank.
Other things you should know:
The volume rocker acts as a shutter button in the camera App (double twist to launch).
The speakers might pop a little. Not while playing media or anything. Known issue, fix coming. Might not affect you anyway.
If you want the battery to show the percentage numerically, rather than just the depleting bar, you'll need this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
All the Moto apps are dope. Genuinely useful. It's weird for something that, anywhere else would be called bloat.
Battery Percent Enabler:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en
Super simple. Can uninstall it after enabling it. Just changes a setting inside Android. Can't change colors or anything, but that's a fault of Android, not the app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en
Works on any android device running 4.4 or higher (including lolipop :D ) This actually turns on a feature built into android so if you were using overlays or notficiations as an alternative now you dont have to. This app isnt new but I figured some people still might not have it and want it. Enjoy!
It's not available cause its in the quick settings bar (When you fully pull down the notification bar) but download this app if you really miss it. I've had it and its so nice to have the number in the battery icon itself. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
I believe that they're launchers where you can reorganize your apps. I use Timely for my alarm clock and it never shows an alarm icon in the notification bar. Also, there's an app that should enable battery percentage: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Not without an app, no. But it was only necessary to enable (or disable) it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
It was already there, just hidden and with this app you can enable the setting and after restarting it will show up. Now as you already posted how with 6.0 it's also possible without an app.. and without restarting.
While its not quite as easy to read as just a simple number display, i use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent to tweak a setting that displays the battery percentage inside the default battery indicator on your status bar. Very helpful and i like that its just a small tweak and not an actual program running in the background. Works on kitkat but even better on lollipop
It was not like that after the update, I used Battery Percent Enabler app to enable it (you don't need to be rooted or anything like that). It's pretty easy, you can enable it from the app then uninstall the app and it stays there even after a reboot. Basically that's a feature in android but there are no option to toggle it in settings so an external app is used. Hope this clears your doubt.
It has a great battery and I don't find myself concerned either. However, I still like to know it's status and actually went the other route. Instead of hiding it, I increased visibility of the icon with Battery Percent Enabler. It enables the hidden system setting to put the percentage on top of the battery and can be uninstalled after use. This is great since it doesn't use any extra resources or running services like so many others
No root needed. Good Lock actually makes the default %## in the status bar a litter smaller, but it was still taking up too much room. So I turned it off and used that app to put it inside the icon, now it's back to what I was used to in stock Android via System UI Tuner.
I think Marshmallow will help with battery life, it did with my Nexus, even though it's using a preview.
Battery percentage - download Battery Percent Enabler and it's on the status bar. No root required.
App drawer - if you wish, download Nova Launcher Prime and tinker to your heart's desire
Cases - Supcase for now is good
Here ya go! It's actually baked into the OS, but it's not used. All the app does is flip the switch.
If I'm being honest, I don't like how it looks, I'm just too lazy to change it back.
I use Battery Percent Enabler: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dbattery+percent+enabler&pcampaignid=APPU_1_jSSdVfCSD4aXyQSI4oG4Bg
Incredibly easy and lightweight: rather than adding some new process to monitor the percentage, it just unlocks some native ability in KitKat and Lollipop. The percent shows up inside the battery level icon. No permissions required!
If you're on Kitkat or Lollipop and want battery percentage to be shown you can use this app to enable percentage. No rooted required.
QuickPic or try franciscofranco's Focus app. It's still in beta but so far it is my fav gallery app (link https://plus.google.com/communities/110461870215126835312)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en use this to display battery %
If it isn't an option on the settings app, there are other ways of activating it, as its an option on android. I had an off brand phone and I was able to enable it with a third party app like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Not sure if this is helpful, but I used to use this app for showing battery percentage on my notification shade.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en_IN
The best thing about this app is that it can be uninstalled after you set it as per your preference. I used to use only the percentage indicator without the battery icon to take up minimal real estate in the notification shade.
I guess I'm not really sure how Good Lock really works yet. Is it a service that runs 24/7 and can have some impact on battery life? (even if very small). I would have expected it to change the system settings and then keep working whether installed or not. (Like the battery percent enable from the old days of ICS). So, I was surprised when everything reverted after it's removal.
I thinks it's going to be possible on the Oreo update. This also enables the percentage as well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Can anybody check if apps like this work?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
I used that on my Samsung in the old KitKat days, wouldn't have thought I would ever need it again XD
In out sure wether this still works on oreo, but that's probably the easiest way to get battery percent without going through a bunch of steps. The description of the app says Lollipop but it seems to work at least as far as nougat AFAIK
PYup, it's been a part of like every skin as far as I know for some time. Nougat introduced it to stock Android, but the way it was implemented made it pretty darn close to useless (imbedding the numbers in the battery icon. The numbers were tiny and barely readable), and I have 20/20 vision, they'd be entirely pointless for someone older, or with vision impairments.
This article has pictures where you can see how small the imbedded text was
Edit: fixed missing "("
Edit #2: Actually, I think it's been there since KitKat, but has always been hidden in the system UI tuner settings. There are apps that enabled this on devices as far back as 4.2 (like this)
Prior to MM we all used this app to enable the percentage inside the battery icon. When MM came out with that as an option inside the UI tweaker the bug showed up which displays BOTH.
To fix you can disable via the app and reboot. Then re-enable via the UI menu to get back to just having the percent inside the battery icon.
There's no way to hide the icons without root, but there is a way to show the battery percent inside the battery: Battery Percent Enabler. I've used it with my Note 7 and now my S7E.
Percent Enabler works pretty well for me. Lightweight, does exactly what it says, no ads, etc. I install it during the setup of whatever device, then forget about it after that. No root or special permissions needed.
It's not from Nova. IIRC, launchers cannot make changes to the status bar icons (Edit: I'm referring to icons on the right, ex: next to the actual battery icon, similar to how the Droid Turbo 2 has it). The app by kroegerama to enable battery % inside the battery icon is an exception, as that enables native battery % that's built into Android (KitKat to be exact), but was hidden.
Yes, you can. First install Battery Percent Enabler, then choose the circle in the battery settings. Proof: http://i.imgur.com/uY1UpqA.png
I found out by accident a while ago on my OP2 if you install Battery Percent Enabler from the play store and then select the circular battery icon in battery stats it shows the percentage inside.
Link to playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en_GB
This existed in Android before Marshmallow. It was just hidden away without any way of enabling it natively.
Download this app
Run it, do what it says
Reboot
There you go, the exact same thing. You can uninstall the app too, the setting stays enabled until you disable it with the same app. If you ever want to disable it, re-download and turn it off.
You actually can show the battery percentage without Xposed, or even root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Was using this app when I had Kitkat and Lollipop on my Nexus 4 :)
I know, right, so simple! The option was always there via third party apps like Battery Percent Enabler...
The battery number is in the stock OS.
>Root Access
>Battery Percentage outside of battery icon look here
MODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODS
You can turn on the battery percentage display with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Looks nice and integrated (isn't just some persistent notification but actually modifies the system battery icon), without requiring root.
Full disclosure: Don't have a shield and I'm just going based on what I can find online. The only thing I could find is this app that claims to work on 4.4+. Other than that, it looks like nobody has had a whole lot of luck yet.
but lollipop already has it? you can enable it with an app in the play store. battery percentage enabler
This is pretty neat and doesn't require root. Shows you the battery percentage in the status bar.
This is built by our Lord. It's a special blessing for those who really seek his way. Much you have to learn.
/uj it has been in Android since KitKat, but always disabled. Someone on XDA made an app to enable it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Until you have marshmallow, use this instead: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en_US
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Open the app check the box and reboot your phone. No root needed.
And you can enable it from KitKat onwards with this app or ADB commands (Sorry I do not have them off hand)
There's a "battery percentage enabler" on the play store, i think.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en
Maybe this'll tie you over...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en
In case you missed the post higher up: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Enjoy!

- enabled NTFS.
Known bugs:
edge tap - won't fix
EDIT:
quick comparison after upgrade from HnT LOS from January:
no root by default, only for ADB, not for apps (need to flash superuser ARM64 addon through TWRP)
missing feature: green switches in settings instead of blue
missing feature: battery text inside icon still doesn't work; use battery percent enabler

You need this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en
Doesn't take up any extra space.
Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent&hl=en
I use it, and love it.
You can enable percentage. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
There was an optin back till 4.4, it needed to be activated. This app can do this (for 4.4 and 5.x) without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
I recommend this for the battery percentage.
Your doubt is valid but i am not rooted. There is a simple app for that. Here you go: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Battery Percent Enabler https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
This app enables a system setting. It's pretty great- one time checkbox, reboot and you're good.
Install this, no root required. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Actually you can :D and you don't need root! I'll find the apk in a bit
Edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
You try this for the battery percentage?
Use this and it'll have it on any android device https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
So finally support from XDA developer Cozzmy13 instead of unreliable HnT.

Known bugs:
video recording freeze after 30s, you can shoot maximum 30s videos
Personally probably going to try from my January LOS build by HnT before dumb move to Nougat bootloader.
EDIT:
quick comparison after upgrade from HnT LOS from January:
no root by default, only for ADB, not for apps (need to flash superuser ARM64 addon through TWRP)
use com.android.camera2 instead of Snap camera from CM/LOS (no resolution between 13MP and 5MP) see EDIT3 below how to change resolution manually
new Wifi region code option in wifi settings
new Enhanced 4G LTE Mode in SIM settings
missing feature: green switches in settings instead of blue
missing feature: battery text inside icon still doesn't work; use battery percent enabler

missing feature: no shutter sounds switch under Sounds; you need to delete shutter sounds in system/media/audio/ui after each update or switch phone to DND before taking photo
missing feature: no data transfer speed indicator for status bar
EDIT 2:
- bug: video recording crashes at 30s when using default built-in camera, camera keep recording but picture will be frozen from 30s mark, length of video will be correct and problem to play first 30s, so pretty much you can't record anything longer than 30s with builtin camera. Need to try different camera app, though this should be fixed in ROM, it's pretty much only bug I experienced.
I tried also this Snapdragon camera, but it seem system wide bug (maybe related to 30s MMS video limit?), since it behaved exactly same also in Snapdragon camera, though it had positives in more settings like 12MP 4:3, 8MP 16:9, etc.
EDIT 3:
- bug? or maybe annoynace - quite huge 30MB wlan logs are created in wlan_logs folder making totally around 100MB. To disable creation of 30MB wlan logs go to Data / misc / wifi, open cnss_diag.conf and change line LOG_PATH_FLAG = 1 to 0. There is also max. size set to 30MB, so if you want them but not so big, put there lower number. It would be better if these logs would be disabled by default.
you can change manually resolution of camera in file /data/data/com.android.camera2/shared_prefs/com.android.camera2_preferences.xml it will be properly displayed in camera app (I added 8MP for instance), though it won't be in options

I don't know if it still works with marshmallow and above but this used to do it.
I have been using this app ever since I got my OP2 and works flawlessly. No ads. Just works.
This is what I used to get it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Adds percentage to battery
You can already put the battery percentage inside the icon: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
I use the Battery Percent Enabler app to do this using Lollipop.
Take a look at Battery Percent Enabler.
This app will allow you to enable the battery percentage!
There is one for non-rooted devices, at least for battery percentage. Requires reboot after enabling or disabling

Battery Percent Enabler https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent

You have to download an app. I used this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
