If you're in an apartment the chances are your wifi is being interfered with (OOeer) by your neighbours wifi. Use an app like this to figure out where the clear bandwidth is and switch the channel of your wifi in your routers configuration.
You might have already read Wikitravel's Dublin page, but its 'Stay Safe' section will probably give you better and less biased advice than individuals on this sub will.
Dublin is a fairly safe city though. We get a lot of tourists, and most of them make it home again in one piece. Some even come back to visit again.
What part will you be working in? www.daft.ie is where you will find places to rent. Have a look at www.hittheroad.ie to see how to get to places, specifically from prospective houses to your place of work. Dublin is mostly covered by bus routes, with two Luas (tram) lines, as well as the DART train. Check all of this out at the Dublin page on Wiki Travel: http://wikitravel.org/en/Dublin#b
There are two options when going for mobile phones, Bill pay and Pay as you go. It depends what you're looking for. If it's for bill pay, shop around see what the different companies offer. The main ones are Vodafone, O2, Meteor, and 3. Pay as you go does what it says on the tin, you get a phone w/ a SIM card, and top it up with 'credit', allowing you to make calls/texts or get 3G data.
Bonus advice: stay away from people like this. We call them skangers.
We have advertising for Hero Concierge at our office, but that might require the office building to comply:

Here a link to the panorama documentary about him that was on last night. Lots to of people within boxing don’t want to believe who they are associated with. Sad but money talks in that business

Hey, I suffered my first panic attack and bad anxiety December just gone. I found a mindfulness course online @ http://moodsmith.com/ and the lady is actually based in Dublin. I would highly, highly recommend this form of therapy - I went from thinking I would never be normal again to being completely fine in a matter of weeks.
When you sign up you get access to lots of videos that help rationalise and control your thoughts and you can also arrange to skype the doctor. There are also homework sheets and exercises for each section.
Hope this helps and it shouldn't burn a hole in your pocket (10e per month)
Finally another thing to check out is Headspace app for your phone, I use it for 10mins every morning and it has changed my life and the way I think. The days I miss doing it, I really notice the difference. https://www.headspace.com/
(Ps I read your original post, I really think mindfulness with help you a lot as it seems you need to slow down and not let your thoughts run away with you and control your life/feelings)
*Edit: adding some more info.
Also Fun fact, that's me as kid in the eighties on the front of this book, saw it in a shop one day, and and was like WTF? https://www.amazon.com/Stoneybatter-Inner-urban-Kevin-Corrigan-Kearns/dp/0717124533
Baggot Street/Waterloo Road junction. Old Baggot St hospital/GMHS is just to far left out of frame and the old St.Martins House building on the lower left has been completely redeveloped into fancy offices called the Waterloo Exchange.
This looks like the latest version of the "Blue Line" transit system that appeared a couple of years ago and promptly seemed to dissappear without trace: https://web.archive.org/web/20110721122308/http://www.blueline.ie/
Amazon or AliExpress sell nice stuff you can slide, pack of 6 for a few euros. Very thin so you van close the lid normally.
For example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ideal-Home-Self-Adhesive-Ultra-Thin-Compatible-Black-White/dp/B087PDT7X5
Ireland is depressing, all IT companies here but you can't buy anything that is not for cows or alcohol. So yeah, online is your best way.
Haha! Thanks! It’s a human headband, just a cheap one from amazon (link below). He wears it around his neck like a collar, but if it gets really loud outside I reposition and tighten the headband with a gogo so that the white noise plays closer to his ears.

Helpful way around this is the Journey Planner app. Helps to manage the three major transport links in Dublin and gives you expected prices for your trip:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdv.IrelandCompanion&hl=en_IE
Dun Laoire: The Gresham Hotel (previously known as the Marine Hotel) can be quiet at times.
Blackrock: I can't think of anywhere... maybe the Tara Towers Hotel which is technically in Booterstown but right next to Blackrock.
Generally hotels are perfect but of course they can fill up when a tourist bus arrives.
If you are using the public WiFi in a hotel etc. remember to use a VPN. The most trustworthy free VPNs are (IMO) TunnelBear and ProtonVPN.
I stall the Dublin bus app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dublinbus.wearei3 ), you can see bus routes, stops and timetables there.
Google maps is good for knowing what busses to take but the timetables there are fucked, so ignore them.
The Harcourt Street/Camden Street area is awash with pubs, clubs and venues.
The (South Great) George's Street area is good for food.
Wow that was tough to find, but here it is. The document is a handbook for CIA agents on how to avoid having their cover blown if they get picked for econdary screening:
"Ireland's Garda can imagae or copy electronic devices, including telephones, once individuals are taken into secondary screening"
That's one hell of an over-reach seeing as it doesn't take much to be hauled out of the queue for secondary screening.
Source: https://wikileaks.org/cia-travel/secondary-screening/page-14.html
Data Structures are advanced computer science concepts and it would take you at least a few months to get a grasp of. Lots of hard work but if you like banging your head away at hard problems you would enjoy them.
Here is a link to a course on it done by Standard's computer science prof: https://www.coursera.org/course/algo
The course is for free :)
bookdepository.com is usually a good bet, free shipping! they let you pick italian language then search by author. Quick peek brought up Dune, Gaiman and some Asimov. Ender's Game is unavailable... bookdepository
It is very good to read what you have written for me, to know that the Irish are very sociable and that they understand that we are going to their city to learn, I will try my best to attend meetings as indicated by meetup.com pubs in town, I want to enjoy every second I spend in Dublin, I look forward to getting in and out of town on bike. Thank you for wishing me good luck, I wish you all the best, happy new year, much health and peace for you.
Do you geocache? Look up geocaching. It's a great way to explore Dublin, or any other part of Ireland, and anywhere in the world really. Dublin has some particularly interesting caches.
http://www.geocaching.com/guide/
Also, I highly recommend that you go to a GAA match, especially near the end of your trip as the matches will be getting near the end of the season. (The All Ireland Final is usually mid Sept, so you'll miss that, but mid-late August will have some interesting matches.)
GAA stands for Gaelic Athletic Association. It covers three sports, Gaelic Football, Hurling, and Handball. The first two are crazy popular, with Football being the most popular. They're our national sports and even if you're not sporty, it would be worth going to a match or two. (If only one, I'd keep an eye on the news and go to a Dublin match!) Even if you're not particularly into sport, it really would give you a uniquely Irish experience!
I hate to share this place - too much traffic might ruin it. On the other hand they absolutely deserve more traffic, especially mid-day. Great location, Collin's Barracks nearby. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g186604-d1969878-Reviews-Juno_s_Cafe-County_Dublin.html Dublin chorizo? They have it covered. A couple of Victorian boozers nearby. Pretty much as good as it gets in Dublin.
Dublin to me doesn't looks like a very affordable city to live in: http://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/index/europe
Off course depends on what kind of life do you do, what do you mean with 'eat well' and so on.
Are you able to save money each month ? Do you have a car ? Do you have a public transport subscription e.g. not all expatriate like to use a bike considering irish weather ..
If it's just a damaged screen and nothing else is wrong, it might be worth replacing yourself. You can buy a screen on eBay and repair it yourself. There's a fantastic repair guide here, but make sure to look up the exact model. However, if you can get it repaired for E170 probably best to get it done professionally.
its just a house. We need to write to them and find out what happened and see if they can make us some delicious poutine.
Edit: looks like Hector is no longer in Dublin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hectorpastor
maybe he can mail us some from Toronto?
Edit2: Maria is still in town: https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=72309819&authType=name&authToken=UCdf&trk=prof-pub-cc-name
maybe she can help us!
I use it for spices, but I just got a massive one on Amazon (they have different sizes) and hung it up with Command Strip hook things: Andrew James 5 Tier Spice / Herb Rack Wall Mountable or Kitchen Cupboard Storage https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009KN5E9K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DgbGyb3SWJEB3
Just... Make sure the hooks you get have a strong enough adhesive because mine fell the first time!
I bought this from Amazon. and it's one of the best purchases I've made.
It does use a lot of water however.
You can also try the Dublin Bus app to check bus routes, live data for some stops, etc. while on the go. There should also be an app called Journey Planner and that includes all public transports. Hope it might help you. For places to rent, I guess you already know the site daft.ie
Edit1: Here is the app link for android, not sure for apple/ios: Journey Planner Ireland https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdv.IrelandCompanion
Ah, I see. Thanks again, for the reply!
I've recently made a jump from Reddit is Fun to Reddit News to see what the fuss was about. Apart from minor issues with the search function, there's an obnoxious advert banner at the bottom...
I think I'll consider reinstalling RES.
I had a Landlord like that as well, it is infuriating! I strongly recommend to set up a camera. I have this one and it is great only 25e. It send notifications on your phone if it see any movement and it can rotate and track people. It record sound and has a speaker that you can use through your phone so you can tell him to fuck off anywhere you are.
Hi Gandra,
tudo bem!
I would recommend trying meetup.com, they have events on for people of different languages to get together and practice english :)
many dublin libraries also have language exchanges which can be a great help!
boa sorte!
First of all welcome to Ireland! I'd be happy to meet with ya for a pint after work on a weekday or sometime on the weekend. I'm 23 as well so can give you a decent idea of places on offer that might interest ya. Sure just drop me a message.
Also as someone already mentioned meetup.com is a great springboard for meeting new people when you're in a situation like yourself.
I like the Carrickgollogan loop. You can get the DART to Shankhill and the trail starts from Brady's pub.
This stuff is amazing. Just make sure you wear rubber gloves when using and leave a window open. Unfortunately small patches of mould are common in winter due to the weather and humidity
You know there's like horizontal bars you can just put up in your door frame at home? They're easy to put up (no drilling or anything required). Costs about 35 Euro like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RHINOSPORT-Adjustable-Abdominal-Pull-ups-28-3in-36-2in/dp/B08CKDJ4M9/ref=sr_1_10?crid=1BZXLLCOH7OA7&keywords=pull+up+bars+door&qid=1659811917&sprefix=pull+up+bars%2Caps%2C994&sr=8-10
I just have a 2 of these blink cameras in the house as well as the standard alarm system. https://www.amazon.co.uk/introducing-blink-mini-compact-indoor-plug-in-smart-security-camera-1080-hd-video-motion-detection-works-with-alexa/dp/B07X37DT9M?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
Hey! Välkommen! Get the Real Time Ireland app- it’s the official app for all transport in Ireland. It includes all Dublin Bus, Go Ahead Buses (they operate some Dublin Bus routes), DART (commuter rail) Luas (trams) Iarnróid Éireann (trains) Bus Éireann (regional coaches) etc . It not only shows a map, with stop locations, but also real time indications of when your bus/tram/train will arrive/depart. A Leap Card with a small amount topped up will mean cheaper fares on buses/Luas and DART. You can top up in a shop or at Luas/DART ticket machines.
To be honest- if you’re only here for 3 days, you really won’t need to use buses etc much as Dublin is small, and you can walk to many of the main tourist attractions. DART and Luas - tag on and off at the beginning and end of your journey. Buses- If you are only going short distances on the Bus then pay with your card with the driver by saying where you are going. No need to tag off. (This is the same if paying cash). If you are going to the last stop on the bus, you can tag to the right at the door when you enter. No need to tag off.
Jag hopped att detta hjälper dig! ;)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.osds.rtpi&hl=en_IE&gl=US
Next Bus Dublin is excellent on Android. It has route maps, an easy button to find the nearest stops and the ability to save favourite stops so you can plan your trips ahead and not spend time on searching if you're transferring to another route.

We can certainly agree that your degree - if you have one - is irrelevant in this matter. To get a few actual facts - those pesky buggers again - read the studies quoted in The Madness Of Crowds: Gender, Race & Identity, by Douglas Murray <https://www.amazon.ca/Madness-Crowds-Gender-Race-Identity/dp/1635579988/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=TBI4KOT1ZU46&keywords=the+madness+of+crowds&qid=1654483641&s=books&sprefix=the+madness+of+crowds%2Cstripbooks%2C168&sr=1-1> You see, dearie, it has been established beyond any RATIONAL doubt that everyone's sex is biologically determined. (Gender may be partially otherwise to a greater or lesser degree.) And your vicious claim that pointing this fact out is "basically like saying that if you were born with a penis you should commit rape total impunity" reveals your likewise vicious and rancorous misandry. I challenge you to provide factual opposition to my claims based on the science, not whatever pseudo-science your Wimmin's Studies courses have told you.
Whitenoise played from your phone or a dedicated machine like this (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marpac-Whish-White-Machine-Sounds/dp/B079NZGW3M/ref=sr_1_12?crid=270LE5VL869ZY&keywords=white+noise+generator+marpac&qid=1653987337&sprefix=whitenoise+generator+marpac%2Caps%2C34&sr=8-12) is really effective as well. You can turn it up quite loud to down out voices and within a few minutes you'll barely notice it is on. Started using it when we had a neighbour with a loud TV, we've moved now but use it every night as you just sleep better when you cannot hear the various creaks and noises houses make.
Could be earwax build up, if you have a cotton bud you could try clearing it out but be careful not to go too far in obviously, also if it is blocked up you'll probably just push it in further which won't help matters.... Still at least if you'll know if it was ear wax you could get some ear drops in pharmacy to loosen the wax then go to gp and get them to flush it out with a syringe (pleasant ticklish experience) or could try it yourself with one of these.. takes some time tho
Electric pumps are also quite cheap on Amazon and can get you back up in no time (not such an issue on nice days, but a real lifesaver in miserable weather heading home after a long day of work).
One other thing I also noticed before long is that it always helps to have an inner tube or two and one of those swiss army knife of allen/hex keys with a Philip head or two on it.
Get some Mask extension straps. That way if you can't find any masks that don't chafe you can still use them.

Not Wicklow but you can do the scalp loop from Shankill up the Dublin mountains. It’s not overly taxing hike but a nice 12km loop. It’s about 10 mins away from the Shankill dart station https://www.alltrails.com/trail/ireland/county-dublin/shankill-to-scalp-loop
This is alarming. Was expecting the stock "Try Meetup.com to find some groups" or "I wish I could but ..." responses, but people here are actually willing to meet. What's going on with the world?
Psa folks. 99% of U locks are not good enough to save your bike. As you can see you can bend them using the bike frame you need a chain lock like this one i have https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006QN0MI0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_8T1FYQPXJMP5JAEHM912?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
And also you want to lock it around the rear wheel or near the saddle. Not the front wheel.
Damn those burgers look good. Cheers for the rec. Looking for something a bit more western though.
No idea, I've never bought anything there, I just know it exists...but they do have an online store for rarer stuff you can have a look at here - http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?sortby=0&vci=54251457
Yes, Sandymount train station is about a 10 minute walk from the RDS Ballsbridge (the summit venue).
B&B is bed and breakfast; that's the traditional accommodation for visitors to Ireland. More personal than a hotel, but still very professional. That also means they can be as expensive as a hotel, so you may not be able to find one within your budget. Here's the TripAdvisor listing.
Since AirBnB is mostly amateur hosts, you might have better luck finding something for around the €40 mark. I had a look via the map function (which is very handy), and I think I found a place that may suit you and that's within your budget. I'm sending you a PM!
It really depends how much you want (or can) walk.
For example alot of people walk from Belarmine to the Glencairn Luas stop.
Have a look here for some ideas:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/53.2522/-6.1654
Thanks for your help! :)
You are very welcome! Hope your company is looking after your accomodation🤞. It is extremely hard to rent a place especially for newcomers. If you need to find yourself a place I really wish you best of luck. Start point would be www.daft.ie In regards of cycling your company is probably support Bike to Work scheme so here you can find all info and best selection of bikes in Dublin https://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/B2WApplicationForm.asp?utm_source=web&utm_medium=banner_s In regards of bank "N26" getting more and more popular so it's worth to check it out https://n26.com/en-eu Wish you all the best in Ireland! As Irish like to say: "Don't worry, it's all grand buddy"😊
I agree with you there. There tactics aren't the best. I'm a Labour Youth member, and it is annoying that they aren't targeting FG more, but the fact is the party are going back on what is a core belief. The fact is that USI are more right on this than the party are. Labour Youth just released a paper on it: http://issuu.com/conorjosephryan/docs/ly_position_paper_on_student_fees_pdf

The IRA are drug dealers
Well, there are plenty of them in Chapters - the place is really really big. Downstairs is the normal bookstore, upstairs is used books section. If you're looking for something specific, talk to them via Twitter - they're pretty responsive.
You'll only pull 40-60 mb off the repeater but if your ok with that then go with the repeater. It's simple and plug and play.
Really depends on your needs, by the sound of your thread, the repeater would be the best way to go.
Download a wifi analyzer app and check out the channels that are hitting your house (default is usually 6). You wanna pick a channel with the lowest amount of signals on it.. usually 1 or 12. Should get a few more mb from your wifi at distance.
Another option if it's just for your laptop/computer is to buy a USB wifi antenna. Alfa make the best ones imo - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OQKXM0A/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_706HJAEP0R0DJK5DBYGN
There's more expensive ones with higher bandwidth but I honestly don't think you'll need it. That one I linked is awesome and if you run linux you can amend the radio to use more power increasing your range and throughput.
Check out "Couple's Quiz" for this Valentine. I made this myself to surprise my girlfriend this Valentine, considering I cant take her out for dinner or go anywhere

If you don't mind ordering one online (and ordering your ink cartridges online), these are pretty good.
Just be aware that if you want it in a hurry, you need to make sure it's Amazon doing the fulfilling as the other sellers can take 8 weeks to deliver rather than doing it in a couple of days.
I had these before. http://www.amazon.com/Yaktrax-Traction-Cleats-Black-Small/dp/B0094GO7CS/ref=sr_1_2?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1433191547&sr=1-2
These are what I use, but I think however if you have boots that are good on the ice then you'll be fine. You don't want to be like this guy :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ukp1dwISkT4
Hey, there is an app that will notify you of cancellations so you can reschedule your appointment to earlier. It's called GNIB - Ireland. I know a bunch of tech people use it with getting sooner appointments. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tech.rapp.ireland.gnib&hl=en
Get the Beoir app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omnicia.beoirfinder
You can get some Cantillon in Drinkstore in Stoneybatter, link
