In the book In Defense of Looting, which is really a historical account of black civil uprisings, the author suggests that we shouldn't view the Civil War as being an abolitionist movement at all. The conflict was, afterall, really spurred on by the role of slavery in new states, and Lincoln had no plans for abolition. The north was centered around bourgeois controlled industry, whereas the south was run more like royalty and aristocracy. And so the Civil War was therefore about the economic control of these two classes and the eventual overthrow of American aristocracy. The author argues that abolition only became a major component due to the slaves stealing themselves in mass, an act which was appropriated by the Union; abolition was forced on the Union through the actions of black people and not because of some high moral qualities of the Union.

You might have to fiddle with things to make sure your computer is using semibold instead of regular bold (I ended up just deleting the bold file). I'd also recommend not using mspaint, as it doesn't render text properly (among other things, if you bold text in mspaint it's just stretched out horizontally instead of actually using the bold version of the font)

This is criminology and understanding what hotspots are vs areas where there is comparatively little crime. 5% of places, those typically well populated, count for at least 50% of crime in any given urban center.

People have known about this for a while. The people who first proposed the serotonin theory were trying to get the field off the ground and fudged the science on it. Get AdNauseam. It automatically "clicks" on ads, costing me he advertiser (Trump, PragerU, etc) money while not actually making you see it. If you're on chrome though, tough luck, it worked too well so google banned it. Firefox recommended it in their add-on store though. You can also still side load it onto Chrome. If you haven’t read this already this book does a really good short history of how wedge issues were created and weaponized. It’s still from the 90s but the history laid out is still legit.

There is no punishment for lying. Each claim needs to be tested and the lier punished. Preventing the testing process (bringing up two ‘facts’ in quick succession) should be punishable. I think that the powers that be are extremely hesitant to put forward any electoral reform in the US, because they use the flaws in the current system to their advantage. Jesse Wegman, who is on the New York Times editorial board, recently wrote a book called Let the People Pick the President that I would highly recommend. It’s a very readable history of why the Electoral College and surrounding institutions are—and have always been—undemocratic and generally bullshit.
