>I just checked the temperatures in the XMG control center and there were below 80° C. Is there a better way to find this out?
Use HWiNFO64 and create sensor logfiles, then analyze the CPU Package Power with GenericLogViewer. See if the system is actually holding the 80W power during the multi-core tests.
// Tom
I have the 4600H version, which came pre-installed with Windows. Installing Xubuntu 20.04 alongside it was ridiculously easy: I made a live-bootable stick with Rufus, live-installed, and everything I tried *just worked*. No big issues so far, but then it's only been 4 days.
Other people have tested Linux on (versions of) this machine more thoroughly, check out reviews for Via 15 Pro or "Mechrevo Code01" on this sub and r/LinuxLaptop, r/linuxhardware or r/AMDLaptops.
If you keep Control Center open to monitor your CPU temps, it will wake up your dGPU, increasing power consumption. Does not explain the 80°C in browsing but it's not optimal. If you want to monitor temperatures, please use HWiNFO64 which has a much smaller footprint.
If your CPU cooling were to be compromised, this would reflect in sub-optimal CB R20 Multi scores.
Last time I checked I was getting 2966 points (CB R20 Multi) in 'Enthusiast' without any extra Undervolting (-50mV default Undervolt).

Are there legacy-versions of this table with the old XMG Fusion 15 included?
I want to drive the HTC Vive Pro and a Monitor through a USB-C Dock at the same time. Since the Vive needs a Display Port and the Fusion doesn't have a dedicated Port, I currently run it through a USB-C Adaptor but this blocks the single USB-C port, which I want to use for swapping between two Laptops with just one Plug.
Long story short, I wonder which Dock will enable me to drive the Vive and a Monitor at the same time. Do I need MST on the old Fusion (couldn't find this on my quick research)? I tried a cheap dock like this one https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0BFCMS4F8/ but the USB-C -> DP adaptor didn't work on it so the Vive stayed black.
I got this splitter now but I still have to keep pushing in the jacks manually as far as possible cause the headphones don't get recognized at all otherwise
is yours an Intel or AMD model?
I'm trying to figure out if the HP Reverb G2 will work with my AMD MAX 17.
u/XMG_gg I am thinking about buying this travel adapter for travelling (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0B1VC8R5J/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=A2O1G2ANC542M9&psc=1) . The previous model only came with 61W PD charging, and your colleague Arthur told me that this was not enough to charge the V14 or V16. With the one I linked to you, I should be able to charge my V16, right? I don't mind the lower performance, since I'll do mostly office tasks.
// Tom
Unfortunately, driving a pure white is pretty hard for RGB LEDs. They are mixing Red/Green/Blue colors to appear "almost white". If they would drive it up to 11, they would risk a premature burn out over months and years of usage.
My advice: white is overrated. Set up a nice warm color between Warm White and Orange.
And just get flux to go with it. :-)

Great discussion on chargers and docking stations, but has anyone got a battery pack going with the Via / Pulse 15? I am looking at the Baseus 100W PPBLD100-S which seems like it has the right specs - 20V + 100W -> 5A max delivery.
Any thoughts?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QFG6LFR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Could find any here in the EU. Had to order from the US.
Great post, did you also track RAM/SSD temps? For my XMG Core 15 M21 11800H 3060 I picked up this crappy one for 16$, funnily enough using it the wrong way around because of air intakes, has been able to cut off around 2° on CPU, 3° on GPU, but about 8-10° on RAM, which were previously running almost into the 70s under heavy load, which is higher than I'd like RAM to run at.
@OP: Elevating the back of your laptop for better air flow/intake is gonna yield great results already, from what I've noticed XMG laptops' fans don't get much support from additional air being blown in. I bought my cooler to use it comfortably on my lap/not optimal surfaces, turning it to max on a hot day can create quite a nice crotch breeze, not that anyone asked. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>even after two years of L141CU, the three-key combinations are still not very comfortable
Might be better on VISION 14 due to the larger Cursor Left/Right keys.
>Caps lock has no need to be so large, same for R-shift, both can be broken in 2 keys.
I think that would be rather controversial. By breaking up traditional layouts, you might be able to cater to specific users that need a small subset of functions very often, but you might confuse all the average users who might also have an interest in this device.
But I totally get it, good keyboard layouts are vital.
We once had a survey about this topic in this thread, but I forgot: which 14" laptop has a keyboard with 4 dedicated navigation keys? Thinkpad E14 does not.
// Tom
Something like this:
The EC should be hosted on a SOIC8 close to the ITE controller itself and may require to be desoldered for programming due to in-line interference. But you could order a SOIC8 clip as well to try it it in-line.
Thanks for the reply Tom, unfortunately most of the DC extension cable are certified for maximum 3A, I found one that is theoretically certified for 10A but it doesn't have the right dimensions.
I'll keep looking for something and I'll update the thread if I found anything. In the meantime I'll figure out a workaround by rising somehow the power adapter.
I just received a new NEO15 E22 and so far I really like it!
However, I definitely need a cable extension. If I'm not wrong, longer cables imply a less or more significant voltage drop but I was wondering if, in your opinion, a 2m-long extension cable could cause any kind of issue or better if I go for a 1m-long cable?
It seems that 4K 120Hz 4:4:4 is not possible on RTX 2070 from what I Googled around.
From what I can see the only workaround is using DP1.4 to HDMI2.1 adapter but these have some downsides and are quite expensive (like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MSWMXT4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_EW6T5288K7WGZ98ARSZC). So I will keep 4k 120Hz 4:2:0 for now as it is not really that noticeable and get a PC with RTX 3070 when prices settle down a little bit.
Thank you for your help.
Should something like this work, right?
First of all thanks for the complex answer - it gave me all the info needed. It seems to me that Neo with Oasis is actually the only option for someone who wants to have laptop closed most of the time (with "due diligence" of course). Main aim is coding/movie watching with occasional gaming and 3D design.
Im using now and planing to keep (with Neo possibly) this stand: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01JRUR5B0
VIA 15 Pro has a single Audio port with combined Headphone+Microphone function (like a smartphone headset).
Your Rode microphone needs a single Microphone input port.
You need to buy something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Headphone-Microphone-Compatible-Controller/dp/B07MQZ255K/
To find more such offers, look for "CTIA splitter" and make sure to buy one with two female ports and one male plug, such as the one that I linked.
// Tom
It's not the JCA141; the one I have is this male to female one that requires a separate DP cable to connect. I just ordered the JCA141 and hopefully I'll have good luck with it!
Hi there,
I can confirm that UGREEN 100W 4 Ports GaN USB C Charger (40749) works without issues with the VIA Pro 15 and just for the record I am using it with UGREEN USB C to USB C Charger Cable 100W PD Type C (70429).
I own a Tuxedo Stellaris 15 with 5900HX and I am using Ubuntu. I can say there is no S3 state available for me neither. Currently, it switches to S0 (Suspend-To-Idle) by default which takes all devices into a low power state (see for more: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/power/states.txt)
If this issue can't be solved then Suspend-to-disk would be a solution too.
I assume you have set your SPL Power Limit to 80W.
Run a HWiNFO64 sensor log during your CB R23 run. It will allow you to see:
You can quickly analyze your CSV logfile with Generic Log Viewer.
// Tom
Then please add a HWiNFO64 system report and a Intel SSU system report and send it to me together with your video. Make sure to document your monitor setup (cables, connections, Windows main display setup etc.) in the video. ZIP the reports and send me a link via Reddit Chat. It would be helpful of your phone can do 60fps video, not just 30fps. I'll open a support ticket with Intel. // Tom
10) Self waking up of the laptop.
There is guy who wrote this huge review research:https://www.notion.so/Mechrevo-Code-01-TongFang-PF5NU1G-Information-8009025fdefc40118ab0ea973e7e0988#7ad20b7138fb45d7b4d3c3b29bbc6480
He had early version of chinese Mechrevo. Quoting:"I've noticed an issue with the laptop waking up in my bag - this might be due to the keyboard being pressed. May have to look into requiring the power button to wake from suspend if this continues to be an issue."
add 5) He also describes some coil whine and similar sounds.
Both AMD and Intel have good mainline/open source support currently.
Gen11 is Iris Plus. Xe is Gen12. Intel has been submitting updates since 2019 for Gen12 graphics and initial support was enabled in the 5.7 kernel. I'd expect Linux support to be working pretty well when actual TGL laptops actually ships. (Intel has shipped their Q2/2020 media drivers just recently w/ Gen12 support as well, for example).
Renoir support as of 5.7 was pretty solid (this came out a bit after Renoir products first started shipping, but before most people got their laptops, so doing better than earlier releases I suppose - with Raven Ridge especially, I remember having to run nomodeset for a while before everything started working; this may have been a Mesa more than kernel issue).
If you're interested in what hw output looks like on the VIA 15 Pro in 5.7/5.8-rc's, here's some stuff I dumped a few weeks ago from the same basic ODM hardware.
This is a very good overview of the OEM model: https://www.notion.so/Mechrevo-Code-01-TongFang-PF5NU1G-Information-8009025fdefc40118ab0ea973e7e0988
I just got my Mechrevo Code 01 (the same barebones unit as the VIA 15 Pro) and do in fact get 8000+ on Geekbench (and 1200+ on the SC). It works most of the time with 3440x1440 and 144hz but sometimes when i start into a game the monitor just goes into sleep mode and says „no signal“
that only happens shortly after starting the game and once i disconnect the dock and plug it back in it starts working again.
He didn't explained it either, but I think, he used something like this. But, that's no easy stuff for 08/15 user and it seems, that it can destroy your Linux installation and maybe even your hardware either.
You need to check if your dGPU is awake.
Let your system rest in idle and keep an eye on the graph.
Try this in battery mode and when plugged-in.
Fun fact: I recently noticed a bug on latest drivers where my dGPU would be 'ON' in Idle, but only when the charger is plugged in. As soon as I unplug the charger (battery mode), dGPU goes 'OFF' (0°C).
Anyway, I reported to Intel.
If anybody has any power consumption or battery life issues: HWiNFO64 and Task Manager are your friends. Don't stab around in the dark by uninstalling/reinstalling random software, use tools, gather data and post details. :-p
For more information, check our Troubleshooting thread.
// Tom
This seems to be the difference between DP 1.2 and DP 1.3.
I'm a little bit confused why it would not work. This monitor currently costs 1349 € at Amazon.de - I now asked Intel which is the highest reaching (resolution * refresh rate) they validated so far. For example 4K@120Hz should be no problem.
Meanwhile: verify with a Linux Live System
Download Ubuntu (or any other distro) as an ISO file. Use Rufus to flash it to an empty USB stick. Boot from this stick and see if you can use the external monitor properly. If it works on Linux but not on Windows, we would be getting closer to the solution.
// Tom
The beeping sound might be a result of the random input. Perhaps your keyboard is doing more than just writing 0 or the symbols - and .
After your BIOS Reset, I would try this:
1/ Reseat your keyboard cable
Here is a picture of the connectors. To remove the keyboard cable, flip up the black, thin plastic lever to the 90° upright position and pull the cable out from below. Make sure there are no marks (dirt, objects) on any of the cable pins. Put it back in as far as you can and flip the lever back down to the closed position.
2/ Verify with a Linux Live System
Download Ubuntu (or any other distro) as an ISO file. Use Rufus to flash it to an empty USB stick. Boot from this stick and see if the random input happens in Linux as well. If it does not happen in Linux but only in Windows, I would re-install Windows.

Some good advice here, I will throw my 2 pence in to muddy the waters.
External USB drives can be cheap and a good use for backups, eg a USB 3.0 HD docking station with 3 x whatever size drives you want. For example only but not endorsed - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Docking-Station-FIDECO-Offline-Function/dp/B07D8S7RN7 then You mark each drive as A, B or C and rotate them in usage. This unit can duplicate at a press of a button. If you only need 8TB drive then get 3 X 8TB or 3 X16TB its your choice. But I agree with previous comments anything can die at anytime. So buy 2 units (use 1 for 1 month and then swap). Could also buy different units just incase they had an inherent issue. You could always buy 4 or more HD's to rotate. If the data is that important then once a week/month you take a backup and store it offsite in a fireproof safe or in the bank ! Raid is brilliant at protecting against HD failure but you also need to take into account the Raid unit failing so will need 2 units because its not very good if a Raid unit fails and yes the HD's have your hopefully uncorrupted data still but if you cant get an identical replacement version with identical firmware then you wont be able to access the data. But HD's are the most likely first point of failure which Raid can usually correct for, so you only need to cater for the Raid unit itself which an identical unit used as backup can cater for. It all depends on how valuable your data truly is, if its business data then how valuable is the data if its permanently lost, spending on 2 or 3 NAS 's with raided HD's might not seem so expensive. If you trust the cloud - lol thats a big step then you can use that. me personally only trust myself with my data and not some MS or Google or Apple that all want to spy on your data !
Our ODM generally suggests to use a direct USB-C to DisplayPort cable such as this one for troubleshooting such display issues:
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-USB-C-Supporting/dp/B01J6DWK6I?th=1
The shorter, the better. These cables are more error-tolerant because they have one less connection to worry about.
// Tom
Yes. Just need one of these:
There are plenty of these that work just make sure it's display port 1.4 and the specs are as good or better than this one.
The one I linked is the one I use with my G2 and neo15.
Hello Tom/Team!
I have a question on RAM!
Does this RAM from Kingston work with Vision 14?
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/dp/B097QK6M3W/

Or I can only pick 3200 Mhz with CL22?
Thanks!
In Germany it‘s called Kaltgerätestecker and the norm is IEC 60320.
You mean something like this?
DINIC: IEC Lock Stromkabel, Netzkabel Amerika USA Typ B auf C13 mit Verriegelung, 2m https://www.amazon.de/dp/B005PXOAYY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_ZG791KBJ3SNQHYXP1136
Also, installing Manjaro should be a one day thing xD You just seem to have got unlucky with something. Btw, allowe to recommend <code>yay</code> as a pacman
wrapper for the AUR. It can work as a drop-in-replacement and it works flawlessly. 100% you should give it a shot :D
How do you apply Color Profiles? Please consider to use DisplayCal for enhanced control.
And which "off switch" do you mean? On the external screen? What's your external screen model number?
We are just a few days away from releasing BIOS 0064 and TBT3 NVM v56 which might also affect your USB-C/DP experience. Stay tuned... // Tom
Please check your SSD performance again with CrystalDiskMark. Make sure that nothing else is accessing the SSD while doing the benchmark (i.e. no downloads or Windows Updates running in the background).
By the way, you can take screenshots by searching for the "Snipping Tool" in Windows Start Menu.
// Tom
Another possibility is related to dual booting windows and Linux. Have a look at the fast booting recommendation here https://pop.system76.com/docs/dual-booting-windows/. My wireless came back to life after fast booting was disabled.
Well with the new windows powertoys tool you can (https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys)
It has an equivalent (albeit still not as powerful) spotlight equivalent, an image resize tool, a keyboard remapping tool (the thing you are looking for) and other neat features too.
My advice to learn the new shortcuts if you can though. Why? They are the original ones and are the same on Linux too ( ctrl + c to copy and etc)
I would respectfully suggest to direct this question to one of these sub-reddits:
My personal opinion: pick the OS that includes the features you need. If you worry about the performance, learn how to slim down Windows by removing Microsoft's bloat. This will do you more good that any minute differences between Home and Pro.
// Tom
You could tried using a tool like ventoy or any other multi-image boot tool. Maybe something happened dumping your iso ? Or during download of image ? Did you check the md5 of your files before dd ?
I'm almost certain I didn't use a PC this time around to create a bootable USB, so there has to be a way. Maybe try Etcher https://www.balena.io/etcher/, I have it installed so maybe that's what I used.
Edit: I used the USB stick, that came with the laptop, the one with drivers on it, copied the drivers to my Mac, made the bootable USB, and then copied drivers back over to a folder on USB.
Please provide more information.
For benchmarks, start with Cinebench R20 and Unigine Superposition.
Cinebench is 100% pure CPU test. Superposition is almost 100% pure GPU test. This way, you get clean results and can isolate the issue, if there is any.
// Tom
Notes:
// Tom
Sorry, I have literally no idea what you're doing here. My advice would be to use more advanced tools such as 'Disk Management' in Windows (search for it in Start Menu) or boot a gparted live system in order to manage your drives and partitions. // Tom
Yes it works fine. I have the Eluktronics mech15-g3
You just need one of these
This works with HP reverb g2.
There are plenty other models that would work as well.
Looks good in the picture, but when I checked on the internet these things leave under the laptop (especially keyboard area) empty. Maybe bends the laptop in the long term, maybe not.
Alternatively, I have been using a laptop stand (similar to this: link), and an external keyboard/mouse for more than a year for my CS M.Sc. Helps me to overcome neck pain and prevent wear/tear of the laptop keyboard.
We tested with this 90W charger:
At first it was only able to utilize around 60W under load. We fixed this with a BIOS update and the system is now able to to almost saturate the charger. When running CPU+GPU stress test (e.g. Furmark + Prime), the system's power consumption (i.e. the system's performance) is still about ~5% lower with this USB-C charger compared to the stock 90W AC adapter. I don't have the exact numbers right now - I'll revisit this when we have the final production-ready BIOS.
Summary:
// Tom
90~100W USB-C chargers would/should work.
I have just ordered this charger online and will test it this week in Taiwan.
In Germany we also have FSP FSP090-A1BR3 and LC-Power LC90NB-PRO-C in our lab and will test them shortly.
// Tom
I ordered this ram https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LL2NC1H/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2E6E99BFJUH5X&th=1 Which is supposed to run at CL18 3200mhz 1.2v, but I won't get it till Wednesday. My system is intel, but a number of the reviews comfirm it's working at that speed on AMD chips as well.
edit, 6.39€, this one was the one I ordered - but I don't want to promote anything, buy the one you like, there may even be cheaper ones - but this one works flawlessly on my brand new xmg laptop :) https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B06Y433C3S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and by the way, last week I also tried to use my razer headset like this, without the splitter, what works is you can use it either for only the sound or only for the mic, flawlessly - I had sound via the headset and communicated via laptop mic, also no problem, the mic is not bad (I think it's the same on the Fusion 15)
Just get one of these... And a 300W+ powersupply that uses the 7.4 connector.
Tom, this is the answer for lightining earpods:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Lightning-Certified-Headphones-Earphones/dp/B07W7YQT4S/ref=sr_1_3
I defected because the last 5 major macos updates brought tons of unavoidable useless stuff, the OS behaves like a second hand cars' dealer and the prices got ridiculous. Then, a new chip, walling the garden even more. So long Apple, and thanks for all the fish :-)
BTW, after spending a few months on Ubuntu (with the macbook) I decided to give PopOS a try on the Fusion. Hey, this thing is actually _pleasant_ to use. Hope more distributions will focus on sensible defaults and UX *coherence* rather than features.
As for my problem, thanks again. I found this, do you think it would work?
Thanks Tom for the fast answer.
Would it harm the laptop if I connect a docking station, which supports power delivery over USB like the following one from dell or can I do it and just have to additionally plug in the normal power supply?
Which iPhone earpods do you have exactly?
Example:
https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B073ZDDTH2/
User review: "My sound card in my PC wouldn't separate the mic from the speakers on an xbox one headset. So I picked this up and it does the trick nicely. Able to use any type of headset with this setup, including iPhone headphones."
// Tom
the usb-c to DP i bought was: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B075V27G2R
But I don't have at hand, which hdmi and the hdmi-to-DP adapter I used, they were bought 1~3years ago, i think.
But the new one I bought, which should arrive tomorrow was dp ti dp-mini from Kabeldirekt. https://www.amazon.de/KabelDirekt-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Aufl%C3%B6sung-Verriegelung/dp/B082VBG76V/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?dchild=1&keywords=kabeldirekt%2Bdp%2Bto%2Bdp%2Bmini&qid=1615980742&sr=8-12&th=1&psc=1
it should have 19 pins.
I just received https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B082LPFM1X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I must say this one works even worse (even though it's 2x the price ...), as soon as I plug in the charging in it everything stops working ...
Do you maybe know for any hubs that you know work great?
In my experience, dangling too many USB-C/MST/DP adapters behind each other will always lead to some of these edge cases.
You could this adapter which recently proved to be the most powerful for VR on XMG FUSION 15 (without dock), but if that fails, I would just kind of give up at this point. Use either dock or VR headset, but not both at the same time. // Tom
Something like either of these two might work:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06Y2SBNR2/ref=psdcmw_10649406011_t2_B06Y33XB7N

The VHB is supposedly the highest bond one but the Duck tape is not that bad either from what I've read (only it's slightly thicker being cloth based).
I use this. It doesn't have a fan, but it's a good one for traveling.
Hi guys, a few days ago I ordered this badboy and now I am thinking about RAMs.
What requirements they must meet? I just found hyperx impact 64gb 2933mhz CL17 sodimm 1.2V amazon. I'm not asking for 100% certainty but should they be compatible with schenker media 14 and run on 3200mhz? In description there is said that they "automatically overclocks itself to the highest published frequency". If you have something better to recommend, feel free
Also when can I found real photos of this laptop (blue midnight), not rendered.
Thanks!
Impressive update, thank you! So your solution is now to cut-out the Sabrent USB Hub and find an alternative? // Tom
Update: It seems that the Thunderbolt 3 Port mixed with my USB-Hub was causing the issue.
I was using this USB Hub mixed with a USB C to USB A adaptor on my thunderbolt port to plug in my mouse, external drives etc. It seems this might have been causing some sort of interference and making it so my ethernet port wouldn't recognize my network (Note: Using the USB C to USB A Adaptor with just my mouse makes everything work as intended so I'm guessing the issue is indeed with the USB Hub).
I'm assuming that once the laptop is on battery, the thunderbolt port switches off completely when the laptop enters sleep mode, while if it's plugged in it probably just goes to standby mode or something, so if my hypothesis is correct, the fact that there is a full power off/power on cycle, makes it so that the issue doesn't arise (maybe because one of the ports has priority over the other in terms of waking up order or something? I'm not an expert so I can't say for sure)
There have been compatibility issues with the Thunderbolt 3 port on the XMG Fusion 15 before so if you find yourself with the same problem as I did and you have anything plugged into your Thunderbolt port, I would suggest attempting to recreate it without any dongles or devices to it.
Here's a link to a post on this sub regarding Validated USB-C/Thunderbolt Docks for the Fusion 15
Thank you for your input! Thought so but wanted to ask anyway...
Saw that T3 dock on Amazon, seems pretty good for the price, but I don't know about the build quality:
There are chargers that already exist that do this , example: https://www.amazon.com/Notebook-Majority-Latitude-Precision-Inspiron/dp/B07HG1XX71
Just look for the right voltage for your laptop and connector type. If I'm not mistaken its 5.5mm x 2.5mm for the core 15.
Ive recently just tested to reinstall the Intel TB3 driver which completely solved the problem with boot times for me (i just had issues with bootup times when several usb devices were connected during boot), its something Intel adn XMG is currently working on as far as i can say. I have no problem anymore with a good 8 sec from XMG logo appearing to Windows Hello.
Also, the perfomance Gap between intel 10th Gen (10750h) vs 9th Gen (9750h) is neglectable. You even have the advantage of higher stable undervolting on 9th Gen.
If you got the money i would suggest to opt for the RTX 2070 Maxq, even just for more future proofness.
Aside from the things i mentioned above im so pleased with my unit (not a single thing i can complain about) i would suggest to buy it right now and even the next coming months.
I use it as a desktop replacement at home with 2 Monitors connected for Gaming, Streaming and a bit of Video editing / content creation as well as carrying it multiple times a week with me to work where i can atleast say the battery lasts around 5 hours. More if i adjust settings more towards battery saving (im on like 50% background lighting, Keyboard lighting, wifi + NordVPN and litteraly all my normal background programs running im using in desktop mode tho).
No I don't. Plus, I am definitively going to buy one of these things. I am currently using my laptop on 2 wooden clothespin of less than 1cm, and is an easy way for me to drop 5°C. As i said in my previous post, what's under the laptop matters a lot, even on a hard surface without any cloth, raising the back slightly decreases the temperature by a couple of degrees. It's normal of course, but still important for quiet operations and cheap to do.
And I never heard about igorslab ^^ I don't understand why the XMG support, doesnt list all websites/communities they look after for on their official website. On the support section they only refer to Reddit, which is cool, but makes it harder for germans who are not english-speaking.
interesting read about the battery! I didnt know about that and I will change the settings in the XMG Control center and cap the charging limit to 80%. Thanks for the advice.
I will try to do undervolting in the upcoming week.
Yesterday I had some time for gaming and tested some of Toms recommendations:
I used balanced mode and slightly lowered the graphic settings in COD Warzone. I also capped the fps to 60. And the temperatures were really good, relatively to Enthusiast mode. I reached 85 degrees, but thermal throttling was on, but I didnt notice any performance drops... It may be of interest, I also used this cooling pad: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B082CWT11G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I didnt test it without the cooling pad. As mentioned above, I didnt have any temperature change while playing in Enthusiast mode with this cooling pad. But somehow it feels safer with the cooling pad on :D doesnt make sense, I know ^^
also, the cooling pad fits 100% the bottom of the laptop. The other two mentioned above are way bigger.

So as a result: I will do gaming in balanced mode only from now on. But Im still eager to lower the temperatures a little further, thus i will do UV next week. I will report here if anything changed.
Arthur, I got a new one, I got a new splitter https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B073ZDDTH2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I still have the static noise. Could you send a recording from your microphone? Disable all Realtek microphone effects and record it.
You have about 8.4mm bezel height to work with. So find a cover that is 8mm or less.
We haven't done much product comparisons, but if you find super thin webcam covers in your region, look at their specified dimensions and do the math™.
Example:
https://www.amazon.com/Webcam-Cover-Black-Magnet-Slider/dp/B076KN9W4P
"Measures 20mm long, 8mm wide and 0.79mm thick"
// Tom
I'm using these https://www.amazon.de/Kingston-Hyper-HX432S20IBK2-32-Arbeitsspeicher/dp/B07BGLKD4M and they work great. 3200 out of the box and they overclock really well too. Micron E-die
Hey Tom, if you like you can add the following cable to the list:
CABLEDECONN Model T0404

I tested 2560x1440x240hz with HDR. The issues of the original adapter seem not to occur. With the original adapter I also got issues when switching the profile which now don’t occur.
I bought this one (same model but from amazon Japan) about 3 months ago :
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079ZYRM58/
It fits perfectly, as the XPS15 has almost the same dimensions...
It's well padded inside and has worked fine for me so far.
Double check the dimensions before buying though, as this is not the exact link I used (different shop, same model though).
